It's TEN YEARS since the first episode of My Mad Fat Diary aired!
🎧📀📕🍻🍕🩱🎸🛵
Were you watching in the early days or did you discover it later (or even recently)?
If My Mad Fat Diary means something special to you, it'd be lovely to hear from you, either below or in an Ask. Memories of the show, favourite cast members, outfits, songs, or scenes, and the fanfics or fan art you loved.
TW: This series includes self esteem issues, depression, self-harm, and suicide. Please be aware of triggers prior to starting this show.
It’s hard to review things I already appreciated in my adolescence and remain unbiased, but this series holds a soft spot in my heart. There are only a few series that left me craving more episodes after their intended series that actually landed. I love this cast and every vital part they play.
The acting is tremendous, and left me in tears on many occasions. At it’s core, it is a young woman navigating the new world beyond her mental illness; but it is so much more than that. Friendship, family, renewal, alcohol, school, parties, illness, breakdowns, breakups, and breakthroughs.
I have even used the advice of the snarky psychiatrist Kester to advise myself through hard patches. There is so many things of value in this series, and I am forever appreciative of that.
This is worth a watch, but only if you:
Can tolerate heavy storylines around mental health
Appreciate the Cool Britannia aesthetic and it’s many playlists
Titles similar to this:
Skins (2007-2013) (You knew this was coming! Similar themes throughout, but a more dramatic, darker tone)
Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) (similar aesthetic, heavy themes of abuse and depression, drama)
Awkward (2011) (Comedy surrounding an misunderstanding that gives a highschooler the nickname of “Suicide Girl”)

The latest Eagle Times is available now, charting more elements of the memorable boys weekly, Eagle
The first 2023 edition of the EAGLE Times, published by the Eagle Society, was published last month, but my copy got buried, ironically, in a pile of Dan Dare collections during home improvements, and I’ve only just rediscovered it!
The lead article, “In Search of Eagle Books” by Eric Summers, is a fascinating read, inspired by readers’ book reviews featured in Eagle in 1952. Readers had been…

@jegulus-microfic september 8, colourful, 249 words
Regulus is still asleep as James presses a kiss to his shoulder, before he slips out of the room. He’s aware that’s probably far too tender for what is, at this stage, only a one night stand; but he hopes the note he’s left on the bedside table is enough to make this is a repeat occurrence.
As he’s navigating to a front door that he barely remembers coming through the night before, he freezes in the kitchen at the sight of two men leaning against the counter, both grinning at him over their coffees. He glances down at himself and is reminded that his shirt is haphazardly done up with the few buttons it has left; it absolutely screams walk of shame.
“Good morning, James,” one says with a lift of his cup.
“Good morning,” he says as a reflex before pausing. “H-how do you know my name?”
“We heard Regulus say it last night, among other things.”
James is going to die.
“That was some very colourful language you were using,” the other man pipes in.
Someone tell his Mum and Dad he loves them, because he’s going to perish right here.
“Okay, um - I’m just going to - nice to meet you,” and with that James is running out the door.
And because things can apparently get worse, James walks out the wrong way and has to walk back through the kitchen, past Regulus’ apparent housemates who shout after him, “I’m sure we’ll see you around!”

Greeting to you all. I have to first warn you that this month’s edition of the ACHOF newsletter will be a truncated one as I’ve had to spend a lot of time and energy managing several things that have popped up and couldn’t be ignored. It will also force me to put off the publishing of the next summary until December 1st.
Sorry…
Darren Criss | It’s been 2 weeks since I bid adieu to The Westside Theater. What a sticky licky sweet experience I had down on Skid Row with the wonderful cast and crew of @littleshopnyc. Evan and I had a truly magical time with all of you. Thank you so much for carrying us with your talent, good humor, and boundless joy. I’m honored to be part of the plant. 🌱#mutilations 🎶 | Little Shop of Horrors BTS | April 14, 2024 | 🎥 IG
