the night circus is a fantastic book and i think has shot to the very tip top as my new favorite

what a beautiful and immersive bit of story telling

truly the best written thing i have ever read, and just the most wonderful story with the best pacing for the story within it and just fantastic characters

time to read the starless sea next, i know truly nothing about it besides it being a story about stories, and consider how great this story was?

I am a bit peeved at the incorrect idea going around that Frankenstein's monster was actually handsome (he wasn't, not by non-monsterfuckers human standard), but more than because it misses the point because –as an artist– Frankenstein's predicament is SO relatable:

you start obsessing on a passion project, you work on it day and night in a frenzy and fully believe you are making the most handome and beautiful thing, you are in the zone, you haven't got enough sleep in a while, but it will be so so good... but once you are finished and you see the finished product you realize it's not good, it's not handsome.

like when I don't flip the canvas, like when I work for hours too zoomed in, like when you draw the best eye ever but actually it's not fitting for the rest of the face... Frankenstein was fully convinced he was making a beautiful creature, but he was really much not.

That is such a cautionary tale for artists/creators.

So I guess, remember to take breaks? Maybe get a double check by others instead of holing up in your dorm thinking you are executing the best idea ever alone XD

If you have only watched the Ouran High School Host Club anime I really cannot recommend reading the manga enough. There is (at least) twice as much plot as the anime has and it delivers so much more character and relationship development for every club member. You deserve to see more of them!

i think one bad thing about how much i am loving the night circus is i love it SO much only halfway in that its been taking me over a full year to finish it, i put it off because i was enjoying it so incredibly much and i want to finish it i also dont want to because i dont want it to end

and the thing is i dont even really care about the main characters or really many of the characters, i do find some of the side characters way more interesting but in truth my favorite thing about it is how good the writing is

the visuals and the storytelling? its phenomenal, ive never had a book make me feel like i was actually there and experiencing it because of how beautiful and perfect the descriptions were, and the fact that it shifts between scenes so much is perfect to hold my attention and the author keeps us in one chapter just the perfect amount

i love this book and im scared im going to finish it and not like it, and it makes me not want to finish it but its so good and i want to be able to say its my favorite book but im scared it wont be but i am loving it so much i want to read more

i hate how "neurodivergent" has just been watered down to mean "autistic or ADHD". because that's not what it means. saying "this makes sense if you are neurodivergent" to something that is very obviously related to ADHD isn't correct!!! Neurodivergent is also trauma disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, dissociative disorders, learning disabilities, and so many more. the 50 year old man with PTSD that you meet at the pub is neurodivergent. the addict you meet at food bank is nuerodivergent. the 30 year old person with downs syndrome who lives at home with their parents is neurodivergent. people that struggle with delusions or hallucinations are neurodivergent.

Neurodivergent literally just means "a brain that deviates from the norm", and nothing more than that. it is not any more specific. please stop treating it like it is some universal experience. the only "neurodivergent experience" is that we are alike in our differences.
