You know what? More steve getting vecnad let's go!
I want steve to be vecnad and I want him to be tired of everything that has happened in his life. From everything that started after 83, from being neglected and hated by his parents, from having only had shitty toxic freinds most of his life, for falling in love so easy only to have the people he loves and trys to care for call it all, them, him bullshit, to have risked his life multiple times to save his kids only for them to look over or down play his achievements and injuries!!
I want steve to be so so tired of trying, never having a chance for a rest because he's constantly waiting for the next thing to go wrong. And Vecna? Vecna is the first person to offer him that rest. Vecna turns to steve and offers him a break, telling him that if he joined him, he wouldnt ever have to feel tired again.
That this exhausting existence he is forced to live wouldnt have to hurt him anymore. He wouldnt need to worry about helping others, wouldnt need to fear he wasnt enough, wouldnt have to continue being the one getting beaten up year after year after year only to be overlooked by the people see called friends, the people he saw as family. That steve could finally be given Peace.
I want steve to consider it.
I want steve to want it so so bad.
It's not like he could escape any way, theres no music playing, his friends didnt even know his favourite song, and vecna tells him that. That they cant even bother to find it, let alone remember it!
Steve knows it's not true, it CAN'T be! His friends would be fighting for him, they had too... Wouldnt they? But Vecna sounds so real, and hes just so tired, tired of fighting, of running. He just wants peace...
"You promise?" His voice is barely a whisper, hes terrified, but the offer sounds too good to be true.
"Of course." Vecnas face twisted into what one could only believe to be the closest thing to a sincere but sinister smile.
Steve stared at vecna, trying to read the monsters eyes for any hint of a lie, while tears steamed down his cheeks. He nods the best he can around the vine that has pinned him by his neck against the wall. He was so tired.
Vecna grinned, his slimy hand moving towards Steve's face, a elongated coming up to stroke the tears from his cheek,"Dont cry steve, it's time for yo-"
"STEVE!"
his words are cut off by a scream, and the sudden unmistakable sound of the opening to "every body wants to rule the world" playing faintly around them.
El looks as exhausted as steve felt, blood dripping down her chin, as she made her way to vecna a second time. She knew what she was doing this time however, and she was going to save Steve. There was a portal behind her, not big, but big enough to see the whole party gathered around Steve's body.
Hopper was standing directly below, arms braced ready to catch steve when her fell. Joyce was holding into will and Jonathan as they were knelt by a kiddy pool with el floating in it. Max along with dustin held desperately onto her Walkman. Lucas and erica was holding onto Robin who was shaking, she was on the ground like her legs had given out on her. Eddie, Nancy and Argyle were not there, but with how mike was frantically yelling into his walkie talkie, steve had a guess at where they were/ going.
Everyone was crying, even hopper-
And they were trying to save him!?
"Steve you need to fight! Please- do not give up!!" El was crying, she had seen vecna take max, she wasnt going to watch that happen again. Not to steve, he cared about them too much to go out this way, especially when they hadn't shown him how much they appreciated him yet.
"So- tired. I'm so tired El, I cant" Steve sounded so broken, El had never seen him like this before, not even as she faced him memories to find him here. He was always so strong for them, but now he was barely holding on and vecnas had was right over his face-
His arm snapped
"YOU CAN! Please Steve!! We cant lose you, you make sure we are all okay! You look after us! You make us happy! You would alway bring me icecream on fridays after you work, or call me and will to tell us new movies!" She was crying hard, as she used her powers to send vecna flying backwards before running to where steve had fallen to the floor.
They didnt have long, steve needed to run now before vecna could get up, but he was still so tired. He looked up at El, the girl looked so scared, she had almost watched him die for christ's sake!? "El, I'm so-"
She silenced him as she pulled him up and holding onto him tight, god she was still so young. Her gaze was hard as she glared as vecna who was fully standing now. She let Steve go as she raised her left arm towards the monster... "no need for sorry steve." Her words left no room for argument, "we love you so we came to save you."
Steve wanted to weep, it had been to long since someone had to him they loved him and ment it. And sure, he was still, tired, still longed for rest. But he realised that he couldn't just give up now. Finally, people were fighting for him, and he was going to make sure he kept fighting so they didnt loose.
So he ran, not looking back as he hears the monster and el scream- the familiar words of his favourite song pushing him forwards as he held onto his mangled arm. Sliding and dodging rocks as they fell from the sky, getting closer and closer to the portal. He could see his freinds, all so terrified on the other side.
Things were not going to be easy, that was for certain. But life wasnt ment to be easy, and not for the first time after he asked vecna if what he was offering was true, he realised just how much he wanted to live right as he jumped through the portal. Because he really did want to live.

Season four rewrite where Steve gets targeted instead of Max. More to be added eventually, but here's chapter one! Enjoy! <3
Or, read it on AO3 Over Here!
🪦—————🪦 A bloody nose isn’t good for business. Not when it drips down onto the case he’s holding. Staining the pristine white edge with a rich pool of his warm blood. He’s never done well at the sight of it. And knows damn well she won’t allow him to just walk around Family Video with a wad of toilet paper up his nostril. “Robin,” he calls out towards the back room.
“What d’ya want Steve? I’m on break!” She shouts. Her mouth is full of something. Probably fries, if the smell of grease in the air says anything.
“Um—I—Don’t freak out!”
“You know that as soon as you say something like that, I’m going to do it regardless. Now, what’s wrong?! Use your big boy words!”
Steve scoffs and rolls his eyes. Finger laying flat against his nostrils, head tilted towards the ceiling. The flow won’t stop. He pinches. Voice high pitched and embarrassingly similar to Kermit the Frog, “I’ve got a bloody nose! I’ll go to the bathroom and clean it up, already half way there. Just need somebody to watch the counter. And since he’s honest, he’s in the men’s restroom before she has the chance to even open the break room door.
It’s a mess. His hand is coated in his own blood, already drying between his fingers, caught in the life lines. A faint ring of red on the edge of his right nostril. Damp spot above his lip, caught in the little bit of mustache hair he’s got, tacky. It’s on the tip of his tongue when he catches a little bead between his lips. He wets a paper towel and dabs at the stains on his face. The white paper turning hideously pink. Almost salmon. Wrings it out under the steady stream of warm water from the tap, watching as the blood washes away in little swirls. This has to be the most inconvenient time to get a nose bleed. But every single time has been inconvenient. Is there convenience in blood on his face?
He sighs when he’s finally clean. And takes a good look at himself in the mirror. Dark circles and oily skin. Shaking hands. Dark pink lips—stained. “Get it together,” he mutters, “rent’s due in a few days. Need all the money you can get.” He runs his hand over his face, grimacing at the flakes of blood that come away from his sweaty palm. “Fuck.”
When he’s back on the sales floor, he has to force the annoyed sigh back down his throat. Robin’s already looking at him. Wide eyed and reaching out. “I’m fine,” he automatically says. She’s got questions, he knows this. Will he answer? Most likely not.
“There’s no way you’re fine, Steve!” She says in return, exasperated. It’s her signature catchphrase. “That’s the fifth nose bleed in the last like…four days? You should really—“
“Get it checked out. I know, Robbie. I can’t do that and you know that.”
She grumbles some sort of profanity under her breath, missed by Steve’s slow shuffling towards the counter. “Steve, I’ll literally…give you my paycheck for the rest of your rent if it means you’ll get checked out by a doctor,” she attempts to bargain.
“I’m not taking your money, you need that, too,” he rebuttals. “And I’m not going to a doctor. I don’t have insurance. It’ll get better, I’m sure. We have nothing to worry about.” Though when he looks down at the cases on the counter, stretching to take one, his hands are shaking. Of course he’s worried. He’s had concussions and enough doctor visits in the last three years, it’s enough to finally make his parents tut and coo over him. He’s heard all about brain damage and risks and all the other garbage. What’s nose bleeds on top of that? Just a minor setback. But also, maybe it does mean something. Maybe he’ll die in his sleep, too much blood on his pillow. He’s not sure. The doctor would prescribe him something, probably. Though, doctors aren’t his forte. Not after last summer.
“What if it’s cancer?” Robin oh-so helpfully supplies.
“It’s not cancer,” Steve drones.
“What about a brain bleed?”
“Think I’d know if that was happening.”
“What about—“
“Robin,” Steve interrupts firmly. “Your little diagnostics are not helping. And I wish you’d stop for the sake of my own sanity. I’ll get it figured out eventually. Now’s just not the time.”
He grabs the tape he had before, wiping at its edges with a sanitary wipe. The cloth is pink in his hand. Just like it’d been in the bathroom. He knows that she’s right. She always is, or at least mostly to some degree. But he can’t miss work. Not when he’s got groceries to buy and bills to pay and rent to cover. Not when he’s on his own, no longer covered by his parents.
“When will be the right time? Because at this rate, Steve, it’ll be when you’re covered in your own blood and dead on the floor.” She moves behind him. Standing all too close to his back. He moves away. Her hand falling back down to hit the side of her thigh. “Why won’t you just let me worry? Let me in, y’know. I’m your best friend, you can trust me.” He hates how wounded she sounds. A strain in the back of his throat. The lurching in the pit of his stomach.
“I do,” he weakly murmurs. “I’m just fine with handling this kind of stuff. Not like I haven’t done it before.”
“But you have your own place. You have independence. You’ve got your friends,” Robin lists. Voice rising in urgency and volume. “They want to help you. They want to give you what your parents couldn’t, Steve! That’s part of my purpose! To just be there!”
He sighs. Bends himself in half over the counter, forehead resting on his open palm. The aching tinge of a migraine settling uneasily behind his eyebrows. They’re getting more frequent, too. He’s already out of his prescription medication for this bullshit. Now reliant on Tylenol, and ibuprofen, and weed from Eddie Munson. It’s been weeks since he’s been able to just go about his day, normally and at peace. Haunting nightmares. Whispered voices in cold silences. Getting high just to cover up the pain that doesn’t even recede when he’s finally out of his mind. It’s bad that he’s got Robin yelling at him. Bad that he wants to cave, give in. Knows that he can’t, though. It’s all such bullshit. “I’d ask for your help,” he grits, “But it wouldn’t do much good.”
She exhales sharply over his shoulder. “What’s that supposed to fucking mean?” Her voice bites.
“It means,” he drags on, voice going weaker and weaker by the second, “means that I’ve tried everything. And nothing you could do is going to help me right now. That’s all I meant. I’m not—You know I’m not that guy anymore.” A part of him wants to cry. Grovel at her feet. Chomp down on the side of the counter and sob into the surface, sounds muffled by the formica. But he stays bent over his own hands. Knees forward and ready to crouch down. His hair flops into his eyes. It’s almost laughable how he keeps forgoing his normal hair care routine, but knows that it’s cause for concern, too. What the hell happened to me, a small part of him wonders. The rest of him is just caught up in Robin. What she thinks of him. Why she sticks around for somebody like him.
Steve stands from his stupor. To look back. Her eyes are forlorn towards the doors. Body tight and still. “I don’t know how you can help,” he mutters. “I’d ask if—“
“I know,” she quickly interrupts. “Doesn’t mean you have to be alone, though. I—I’m gonna head back to the break room. Have the rest of my lunch. Take yours in fifteen minutes, alright?” Her eyes find him. And for once, her eyes that are normally excited and curious and welcoming, are dull and closed off. “I want you to eat today. Bounce back. Be yourself.”
He nods once. A finality to it. “Right. Yeah, I’ll take my lunch soon. I can’t guarantee that I’ll be normal.”
“Then don’t be normal. Just be Steve. Be the guy I’m friends with. Not some…Some self conscious jerk who won’t let his best friend worry. Because she does. Do that. A lot. But only because she loves you and doesn’t like the idea of you being dead. So don’t do that. Don’t die because you’re being an ignorant moron.” He laughs, loud and belly forward. Something in him sparkles, glinting gold and honey-like when she smiles at him. Even as she tries to hide it from his sight. She chuckles herself and walks by him, but not without throwing a fake-out punch to his arm. “Fries are calling my name, Steve-O. Practically screeching for me to eat them.”
“Go eat, you dork,” he chokes out through his fit of giggles. Stomach clenching with the words. “I’ll still be here, you know that.”
“You better be, Steve Harrington. Or I’ll find you and kill you myself.”
“Not unless somebody gets to me first,” he fires at her back, already half way through the break room door.
She flips him off. Good natured. Chipped nail polish gleaming in the Family Video light. Her voice is muffled by the swinging door. “Don’t be a stranger! Maybe close up! Come chow down! I’ve got your stupid burger with yellow mustard, you freak!” Before he can dignify that with a response, the bell above the front doors chimes. He schools himself.
His headache festers. And he swears, for a moment, that somebody whispers his name.
——— Before he sleeps, he pops three Tylenol. Technically, he’s not supposed to. But he’s also out of weed. And what he’d normally take for migraines. This goddamned headache won’t leave him. It went from a dull ache within the last four days to a throbbing, pulsing mass at the back of his head. And, sure, maybe he should go to a doctor. Not now. Not with what his brain will surely create for him tonight.
He’s tried just not sleeping. But then he’s too groggy in the morning. Running off of tepid cups of coffee and whatever candy he grabs from the rack in Family Video. While it’s not ideal, the suffering in his sleep, he knows that he’ll have to shut his eyes. Sweat through his clothes. Get caught in the blankets like a mouse in a trap.
It takes a while. The all encompassing brownish-black behind his eyelids to swallow him whole. But it does. Sucking him in, tying him down to the mattress, shoving him further and further into the indent his body makes.
———— He can hear them screaming through the large metal door. The separation growing farther and farther as he sits. Strapped to the chair. Eyes pointed and unblinking at the door. Nauseous and off-kilter, but so damn afraid. Terrified as another screech breaks through the underside of the door.
They shouldn’t have come down here. No matter how enticing this secret code was. No matter if he knew where the music was coming from. He knew that it was stupid. That all of this was a bad and awful idea. And now he’s got two basically brand new people roped into his and Dustin’s bullshit.
The screams fade. Walls crumbling around him. He’s stuck to the chair.
Trapped. His labored and panicked breathing echoing between the floor and the endless abyss that cages him in on all four sides. Beyond where the door was, he sees them.
He tries. Tries really hard to look away. To find a corner or a stain by his shoe or a stray ice cream cone crumb on his uniform, but to no avail. His eyes remain glued to where the door should still be. Where it should be shielding him from this gnarly, unsightly, gruesome view.
Robin Buckley is a tangle of broken limbs and matted blonde hair, smeared lipstick and plucked black fingernails. Her sneakers are soaked in red, covering the doodles he’s seen before, smearing whatever ink was previously there. The white on her uniform is unmistakably pink. Her face…Steve doesn’t recognize it. Features smashed in, bloodied, or missing. Eyes no longer blue. Just two black holes. Suggestions for where eyeballs should go. And he veers his line of sight just to the left of her slumped body, all crooked and messy on the bench they’ve thrown her on. There, on the ground by her rolled over left foot, is her eyeballs. Piercing blue and retina tailed.
Dustin Henderson is also more broken bones than put together human. His curls are frizzy, stained with red, sticking tacky to his forehead. A bloodied pile of teeth lay rotting next to his corpse. His hat is too far away for him to reach. Hands tied behind his back and strained, rubbed red raw on his wrists. T-shirt worn from camp instead ripped and jumbled, stained with crimson, and sticky to his body.
Erica Sinclair. She’s only twelve years old. He can’t look any longer. At what he couldn’t prevent. What he should’ve been able to save. They’re all kids, a part of him realizes. He’s the only one there who’s an adult, who’s had the chance to graduate high school, who’s alive.
A presence lingers behind him. He dares not turn his head.
But a disembodied voice accompanies the lingering shadow towering over his soon-to-be corpse.
“Steve Harrington…Your time is up.” ————
He startles awake in his bedroom. It’s dark. The black inkiness undefinable in the space around him. Filled with the white noise of silence. His clothes are wet with sweat. Limbs locked straight and stiff at his sides. Eyes centered to the foot of his bed.
There’s nobody there, which he wants to believe. But Steve swears, in this torturous moment, a figure stands over him. Tangled in its own flesh. A singular white eye. Dangling claw-like hand brushing the comforter tucked insecurely at his feet. It’s mouth remains still and closed and absent of lips. He swears it. He hears it. “Steve Harrington,” the figure seems to whisper. Voice deep and rumbling. Disembodied from all sides.
He swears it comes from the figure. He knows it does. It has to. But the next time he blinks.
Eyelids squelching with the tears he couldn’t sense.
The figure is gone. Dissipated. He knows he won’t sleep again. Searching the room, eyes going right towards his night stand, the alarm clock reads 3am. It was worth a try. Managed a good five hours somehow. It’s something.
It’s enough as he peels himself from bed and stumbles to the bathroom. It’s enough when he reemerges in a towel with sopping wet hair. It’s enough when he idles in his car outside of the shitty apartment complex he’s managed for himself.
It’s enough to wonder if what he foresaw was just a figment of his imagination.
For now, however, he pulls out of the parking lot. Riding slow and careful to Robin’s house. Today’s the day of the championship game. And he’ll be damned if he misses it.
——— “You’re awfully quiet this morning,” Robin drawls. She doesn’t have to look at him to know that it’s the truth. Her eyeball is practically pressed against the passenger’s visor mirror. Applying her mascara with fingers prying the eye open, tongue squished between her teeth, nostrils flared in concentration.
Steve scoffs. “It’s just early, man. Not that weird.” He rolls his shoulders as much as he can with his hands extended to his steering wheel. Sometimes he wishes she weren’t so perceptive. Or that she only noticed him when he was down on his luck about his dating pool, not his existence. He blinks sluggishly, the road blurring for a brief moment. He should’ve had more coffee or something this morning. Being alert is important. Being aware. Being ready, especially after what he saw last night.
“It is a little,” she mutters, still hyper-focused on her makeup. “I mean—Usually, you’d be melting my ears off with some discussion about your dating life. How much it sucks. What you’re looking for. Your success in bed the night before.” Finally, she pulls herself away from the visor, open mascara tube in hand, and stares long at his profile. “Did you even go on your date yesterday? That girl…What was her name…From the other day? Thought you scored a movie with her or something.”
He shakes his head. Eyes vigilant to the road. “Heidi. Her name is Heidi, first of all.”
“Okay, Heidi. Her name is Heidi. Did you go on a date with her? Or are you going to tell me how she isn’t the right person? Because you aren’t eager to. Which means one of many things: she’s going out of state for school, she’s more interested in your douchebag dad, she thought that you could get her a word in with Tommy the Horrid, or she almost bit your dick off while giving you a blow-ie and now you’re too afraid of a girl with a little bite to her bark.”
“Hey! The girl that almost bit my dick off had serious teeth to her, dude! I have every right to be afraid of somebody making a snack outta my dick,” he objects. “Besides, I wouldn’t know about Heidi because I didn’t even call her!”
Robin sucks in between her teeth. “Low blow, Steve-O.”
“I forgot!”
She groans. “That’s even worse, Steve,” she bemoans. “It’s like objectively terrible to forget to call the girl that you asked out. If anything, I should’a called her and taken her up on the movie.”
“Oh, come off it,” Steve shoots. “God forbid a guy forgets every once in a while.”
“God forbid a girl accidentally bites your dick,” Robin mumbles under her breath. She leans forward before Steve can refute and turns up the music on the radio. Her nose crinkles immediately. “Tears For Fears…Again? It’s the exact same tape as yesterday!”
Steve just shrugs in response. Sure, it is the same tape. But also, it’s keeping that lingering whisper at bay. He’s made almost a science out of it. Whenever he prickles with a floundering sense that he’s being watched, he plays the first few seconds of their song, “Watch Me Bleed”. It works, though. Brain zeroing in on just the voices emanating from the tape’s delicate nature. He plays it in his Walkman at work. During his break. From the stereo in his car. The sound system he stole from his parents. Wherever he can fit the music like caulk between tiles, that’s where the whispers don’t reach him.
She sighs at his non response. “Alright, what’s going on with you?” She finally asks. “We’ve been in this car for like fifteen minutes. You won’t talk to me about girls. You won’t ask me why I’m getting all dolled up or whatever. And now you’re listening to, admittedly, the most heart wrenching Tears For Fears album I have ever heard. At least so far.”
“Does there have to be something wrong with me to listen to Tears For Fears?”
“Yes. When it’s depressing, there absolutely needs to be something going on with you. Talk to me,” she eggs, slapping the back of her left hand on his bicep. He winces at the sound. “Let me in Steve or I’m gonna ban you from picking movies at work.”
He gasps, offended. “You wouldn’t!”
“I’ll turn on The Apartment everyday I work with you this week. Swear on it, I will. Let me in or there will be dire consequences.”
He shifts in his seat. And for the first time in the whole drive, he pulls his line of sight over to Robin. She stares back. But he can’t actually bring himself to look. Not at her eyes or where her lipstick might be smudged. Or at her fingernails, no matter the color they’re painted right now. He finds a freckle between her eyebrows instead. “Okay, fine,” he mutters. “I’ve been having nightmares, that’s all.” And then he’s back at the road. The long and stretching road. An uneasy silence around all aspects of his car. It’s not usually this vacant. But something is changing, shifting. Lurking, he can sense it.
“Just nightmares? Or does this have to do with the bloody noses and chronic headaches you’ve been getting, too?” Of course she knows what to ask. The exact questions he doesn’t like answering.
He shrugs once more. “I don’t know, Robbie. Maybe. Probably doesn’t help my headaches when I get less sleep than needed. The nose bleeds are their own issue, I think.”
“See, this is why you should be going to a doctor. They’d actually know, y’know? Instead of speculating all this garbage.”
“Robin—“
“I’ll drop it. For your sanity. But, come on, it’s not weird to you? Not at all. All these things suddenly happening in your life. Practically mingling and making out in the corners. There has to be—“
He can’t listen to this any longer. To her paranoid ramblings. The what ifs and possibilities. At the next red light, he slams harder than necessary on the breaks. Hands squeezing the steering wheel tightly. Pointedly looking at his white knuckle grip. Tears simmer in his eyes. But he can’t. Can’t do this. The next swallow of spit he takes is harsh and agitating on his throat. “Why are you putting on so much makeup? Nobody has ever cared that much about a pep rally. Why do you suddenly care about this pep rally?” He interrogates.
Except, while he’d been expecting a long and agitated ramble that turned all too sappy, there’s silence. An odd and tense type of silence. Drawn with charcoal and engulfed in flames. His chest drops inwards, stomach swooping towards his throat, and his breath grows choked and distant from himself. He doesn’t move his eyes. For fear that the tangled flesh of that unidentifiable late night visitor will be wearing Robin’s scent. Doused in her perfume, but wickedly tall and bent. He doesn’t look. Not even when the recognizable drag of claws grows sharp and mean on the back of his right hand. Even as they curl into the cuff of his jacket. Even as the fabric bunches with the movement. Crinkling like plastic. And for a moment, it’s like he’s ground beef stowed behind plastic wrap on a grocery store shelf. Awaiting some fate. A fate somehow like death. Death after death.
“Steve,” it whispers. Definitely not Robin. Deep and masculine and vibrating. He swears the voice echoes in his chest. In his head. But he favors the steering wheel. Doesn’t want to confirm something he made up. He’s making this up. He has to be.
“Steve,” it tries again. The claws on his hand press firmer. He winces. But doesn’t move. Doesn’t pull away. Even if it could take him at any moment. Even if it could diffuse his suffering. Even if it would rid him of the crawling under his skin that he’s tried to lock away for the last three years.
The next time, “Steve,” is said again, it’s Robin. Shaking his hand. Firmly pushing into his skin. Panicked and sharp and loud by his ear. He blinks, shifting, whipping his head to see her. Her piercing blue eyes perfectly placed in their sockets, fitted by black mascara and her lips a shiny pink, freckles, shaking voice, meticulously styled bob. “Steve, hello? What the hell—Where’d you just go?”
He flits over his surroundings. Pulled to the side of the road. Idling with the engine on. The tape done and over. How long have I been out of it, he has to wonder, and how did I get over here from the road? “I—I don’t know what that was,” he musters. “Lost in thought, I guess.”
“Is your head up your own ass or something? Made me have to pull over and emergency brake, you asshole.”
“Sorry,” Steve murmurs, “must be more tired than I thought.” His hands go back to the steering wheel. The leather squeaks under his sweaty grip. It’s solid where he touches. The only thing he can hear are his hands and her breath. He sighs with exhausted relief. “So,” he chirps, “getting ready for Vickie, right?” He deflects. “She definitely likes boobies. And you like boobies. Match made in heaven.”
For a moment, Robin’s eyes flash with something like grievance. A worry. But she schools her expression and scoffs. A tight, tight laugh. “Don’t call them that!” She squawks.
If he continues to egg her on, he can pretend like there isn’t something breathing down his neck. Can pretend, too, that he doesn’t feel the need to be ready. For danger. For imminent peril. For his death.
🪦—————🪦 More to come later, but take this for now. Basically throwing you a bone. Whoops. Chew on this for a bit while I think about how to keep the narrative going.

I loved the first commission so much, I couldn't resist ordering another one as a parallel of sorts! This lovely drawing is by @toktopus-art. It's based on a scene from Chapter 26 of my vamp!Eddie/Steve-gets-Vecna'd fic, laughing at the broken glass.
Scene excerpt is below, and the AO3 link to the fic is on my pinned post.
Steve wished they could just stay like this, but there were only two more songs left on this A-side. “Hey, can I see your bracelet?” Eddie asked. If not for his all-too-casual tone, Steve wouldn’t have suspected anything. “Pulling out all the stops, huh?” Steve asked wryly. Eddie flashed a shameless grin at him. Chuckling, Steve tugged his sleeve down before lifting up his wrist. To his pleasant surprise, the glow-in-the-dark effect was actually noticeable. Eddie took a moment to share in the admiration of the bracelet before grabbing Steve’s hand and tugging it down. “This is better, yeah?” Eddie asked. “Huh?” Steve turned to look at him again, but Eddie was staring straight up at the sky. “Than just sitting in your car in the freezing cold by yourself, I mean.” “I had Freddie Mercury with me.” “I’m serious.” Eddie finally turned his head to face Steve again. His expression certainly matched his words. Steve couldn’t help but tense up at the shift in tone, though he was swiftly eased by the way Eddie’s thumb brushed across his knuckles. “I...hate that you even have to ask.” Steve managed to smile, even though Eddie frowned at that. “Yeah, this is better.” One song left. It wasn’t fair.

Steve was looking around for his wallet to pay the pizza man but he couldn't find it. It was Eddie who found it wedged between the couch cushions.
"Thanks, Daddy," Steve said and went to pay the pizza man.
Eddie's eyes widened, and he whipped his head around to face Robin, whose eyes were just as wide.
"You heard that, right?" Eddie asked.
"Yeah, buddy, I did," Robin said. "He does that, though, calls people names that are similar to their own. He called me Bobin the other day. Although, I kind of like it. And Daddy is awfully close to Eddie."
"Oh," Eddie said softly.
"You sound disappointed. Did you want him to call you that?" Robin asked.
"What? No. I like girls," Eddie squeaked.
"Eddie, you know about me. You know I wouldn't care if you were also like me," Robin said softly.
"I like girls, Robin," Eddie said.
"Well, I'm just going to put this information out there, for anyone who's interested. . . You can like more than one gender," Robin said.
"Pardon?" Eddie asked.
Before Robin could even open her mouth, Steve came back into the room.
"You'll never believe who's delivering pizzas now," Steve said, only to find Robin and Eddie staring at him. "What?"
"My name is Eddie," he said.
"Thanks, I had no clue," Steve said, rolling his eyes. "Of course, I know your name is Eddie."
"You called me Daddy," Eddie said.
"No, I did not," Steve said and rolled his eyes. "This is just like when Robin thought I called her Bobin. Is it possible that you're just hearing what you want to hear?"
"You think I want to be called Bobin?" She asked.
"You did say you kind of liked it," Eddie pointed out.
"Okay, the pizzas are getting cold," Steve said and headed into the kitchen.
Eddie leaned forward as he stared blankly ahead. He pressed his hands together.
"Do I want him to call me Daddy?" Eddie asked, and then his eyes went wide. "Oh my God, Bobin, I think I want him to call me Daddy, and while he's in my lap, and he's. . . "
"Woah, you can stop there!" Robin exclaimed.
Eddie jumped up and started pacing. He was muttering under his breath as he did calculations in the air. Robin jumped in front of him and grabbed his shoulders.
"Eddie, this a good thing," she said softly.
"I know, it's just surprising, or maybe I'm surprised about the fact that I'm not really surprised at all," Eddie said. "Everyone's been calling me queer for years, I just - "
"Didn't want them to be right because they're a bunch of assholes," Robin said and grinned. "Well, that's understandable."
Eddie was about to open his mouth to say something else when Steve walked back into the room.
"Did I order pizza for nothing?" Steve asked and Eddie stared at him. "What?"
"Steve," Robin started to say before Eddie started crossing the room.
He didn't even go around the coffee table. He just walked directly over it.
"Eddie! What did I say about walking on the furn - Mmmm!" Steve was interrupted.
Eddie grabbed him, dipped him, and looked at him questioningly with his lips close to Steve’s. Steve nodded, and Eddie crashed his lips to his. Steve immediately gasped into his mouth before kissing him back and gripping his shoulders. Eddie quickly broke the kiss and brought Steve back up.
"Wooo! Yeah, definitely not straight!" Eddie exclaimed and slapped Steve’s ass. "You can call me whatever you want, big boy. Hell, you can even call me Big Daddy if you want to."
Eddie swaggered into the kitchen, leaving Steve dazed.
"I told you accidentally calling him daddy would work," Robin said and then winced. "I didn't know he wasn't awake yet. My bad. The hanky threw me off. Well, it all worked out. Steve? Jesus, where did that kiss send you? It couldn't have been that good."
"Leave me alone, Robin. I'm literally seeing through space and time right now," Steve said, closing his eyes.
"Hey! There's pizza in here! In case you forgot," Eddie called out.
Robin rolled her eyes and went into the kitchen.
"You Vecna'd him with that kiss, asshole!" Robin exclaimed.
"Hmm," Eddie said, his mouth full of pizza. "Maybe another kiss will wake the prince."
He skipped back into the living room.
"I'm eating all the fucking pizza!" Robin yelled.
"That's fine! I found something good to eat in here!" Eddie hollered back.
"Swallow that pizza before you kiss me, Eddie!" She heard Steve exclaim. "I'm not a baby bird!"
Meanwhile, Robin was smiling as they squabbled until it fell into silence. She was glad they both finally figured things out. Her clueless boys. She wouldn't trade them for the world. Hmm, maybe for the recipe for this pizza. Holy shit, they've never been this good before.
"Hey, who'd you say was delivering the pizzas?" Robin asked.
"Not only did they deliver the pizzas, but they also made them!" Steve hollered back.
"Name, Dingus!"
"Argyle!" Steve yelled. "I asked him to stay, but he had other deliveries to make. He said he needed to spread the love."
"Aw. I love that guy," Robin muttered.
As she chewed down on the pizza, she decided that she definitely needed to add a new best friend to her collective. Yeah, Argyle was definitely her new best friend.

ST5 POTENTIAL SPOILERS!!!
GUYS I FOUND THIS ON REDDIT AND ACTUALLY IT'S QUITE INTERESTING
ST5 Leaks/Fleaks
Gen Plot
Season picks up briefly where we left off in 1986 before jumping into either late 1987 or early 1988. The season is contained entirely in apocalyptic Hawkins. Things with the government are shaky. Owens doesn't appear in the beginning of the season and it's unclear if he's returning, but Ellen Stinson is the new Owens. Hawkins is like a combination of the UD and Kamchatka.
Labyrinths/Mazes being important to both the supernatural plot and the interpersonal relationships. They're inherently linked.
Two songs to be featured are 'Listen to Your Heart' and 'Alone,' both of which were apparently foreshadowed in a previous conversation between Hopper and Joyce, similar to how Hopper's "I'm the puppet, you're the master" to Joyce in S3 basically foreshadowed Eddie's 'Master of Puppets' in S4.
S1 and 2 scenes being referenced are "Nancy and Mike's conversation in the bathtub" and "Hopper + Lando Calrissian"
Lots of importance in COLOR CODING and blocking from the final shot of S4, and a good chunk is told in the costuming—like passing the torch from one character to another as their arcs overlap. For example, Hopper and Will share the "am I the curse and therefore putting my loved ones at risk by being near them?" sentiment for S5, therefore their wardrobe in the final shot of S4 is similar. Joyce/Jonathan and Nancy/Mike's costuming also similar for the same reason, whereas Eleven stands out because she's the first one coming into her own this season. The white for her represents shedding of false skins.
Character duos this season will be primarily dressed in colors of blue/green and yellow/red.
There's lots of symbolism and foreshadowing for every character in S5 from the moment Will touches his neck in the last sequence of S4.
S4 focused on themes of lies and miscommunication, and everyone is going to have to work through these lies before they can defeat Vecna.
Murray and Argyle are both back. Dimitri and Yuri don't seem to be in the beginning of the season.
One thing left unresolved with the Russian plot. Something important will happen involving the machine and the green liquid from the Starcourt bunker. Reference of Dustin vowing to die with Steve when they initially discovered it.
Hopper, Joyce, Mike, Will, and El had to be away from Hawkins, otherwise Vecna wouldn't have won.
An important death that they're nervous about given the reception to Eddie (not Joyce or Jonathan—see details below).
Eleven
We'll see her unlike we've seen her before. A badass who doesn't take shit from anyone. Not a Monster, not a Hero, Jane. Think: adult El could be headed for a Charles Xavier type role.
Erica, Lucas, and El will share scenes together.
El has significant blocking and development with many characters this season.
Max, Eleven & Max
The "kaleidoscope of colors" from a script the writers posted makes a feature in both the scene where young El remembers her mother's love in order to defeat Henry in the lab, as well as the scene where El revives Max. This is significant because it's the first time we see El using her powers on someone in a non-violent way.
El was able to revive Max because of she, herself, being revived in the bunker by Brenner and Co. It's a show, don't tell moment from the writers.
Max getting Vecna'd was foreshadowed in the beginning of 2x01.
Will, Henry/Vecna, The UD
Filming was supposed to commence mid-June, but Noah and Jamie were set to begin in May due to more complicated costuming. Will is going to require heavy prosthetics at some point.
Will's character design is blocked in three stages. The more the UD bleeds into Hawkins, the more connected to it he feels. The gates being open will physically influence him, especially when he's not as mentally strong.
He's kind of like "the card up Vecna's sleeve."
It appears they want to confuse the audience about Will.
Will wrestling with his own morality
Henry/Will mirrors. Will will sympathize with Henry because, unlike El, he knows how and what Henry thinks, and he can feel him.
Vecna and Will are very similar, but the difference is Will is made stronger by love not hate. They will play into that duality.
Vecna was nerfed in S4 compared to how we see him in S5. He'll be much stronger.
At the beginning, he'll be taking a hiatus while he plans how to divide and conquer now that everyone's back together in Hawkins.
Soteria will be the key to saving Will. If they want Will to be untraceable to Henry, they'll have to insert it into his neck and it'll be painful. Vecna not having access to Will fucks up his ability to leave the UD.
Byler/Mileven Triangle
Apparently, it's complicated and up in the air as of now.
Mike dealing with guilt this season. He feels guilty/responsibility for El. He feels stuck in a loop that keeps him from a truth he's scared to face.
Will and Mike to spend a good chunk of the season together based on character designs and blocking.
Will telling El that Mike won't like being lied to comes back with the painting. During a pre-time jump scene in 5x01, while everyone's together plotting how to defeat Vecna and brainstorming how to save Max, Mike brings up the painting El commissioned for a D&D analogy. Will has to pull Mike aside and confess he lied about El commissioning the painting. Mike gets angry, because he doesn't know about Will's feelings and feels embarrassed that Will thought he was that pathetic he needed to be given a pep talk. Their own version of a "fight you can't come back from." Immediately after their fight, we get the time skip.
Mike's character motivations are unclear and seem to be kept under wraps. After the time jump, he and El won't be talking as much because he's keeping the details about Will's painting from her. She's gonna ask what's wrong between him and Will, and he lies/is very vague.
Joyce, Hopper, Jopper
Joyce feels immense guilt/responsible over Bob's death since she's the one that asked him to help in S2, which is why she pushed Hopper away at first.
Hopper has a secret from S1 that was never addressed, and it comes back to haunt him.
Joyce sustains an injury in S5 that is reminiscent of the way someone was injured in S3, but it isn't critical and she'll be okay.
Jopper are the most established couple after the time jump. Lots of bickering still, but Hopper trusts Joyce more than he ever has.
Jonathan, Nancy, Jancy
So far, does not seem like a breakup is happening.
Jonathan's still lying about the college letter and distant because of it, and Nancy thinks he's not as into the relationship and that there might be someone else. She confronts him, which leads to a talk. She's touched by the lengths he would go to try and protect her and any of their future children even from himself.
A moment where we're led to believe Jonathan dies but doesn't, like Hopper in S3.
Hopper-Byers Family
These five characters slowly unraveling their arcs together and have always been closely linked. Their perfect endings are together.
We see the family combining, especially in relation to El.
Joyce gets to witness Hopper being paternal and tender towards the boys.
Scenes with Joyce, Jonathan, and Will
Hopper being back lifts a weight off Jonathan's shoulders.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, now time to shine.
''(...) sentiment for S5, therefore their wardrobe in the final shot of S4 is similar. Joyce/Jonathan and Nancy/Mike's costuming also similar for the same reason, (...)''
Okay. How did we see Nancy in S4? Confused. Confused with the love triangle between Jonathan, her and Steve. Jonathan is her actual boyfriend. And Steve is her posible love interest again.
So, putting this in byler language: Nancy = Mike Jonathan = Eleven Will = Steve
If Mike's and Nancy's character's clothing is important at this point of the time line and that means they feel similar feelings, this could mean that byler has a chance. BUT then we read this: ''(...) He (Mike) feels stuck in a loop that keeps him from a truth he's scared to face.'' And
''Mike's character motivations are unclear and seem to be kept under wraps.''
THIS LITERALLY MEANS BYLER. FOR REAL. Like byler could be endgame. Also, remember Eleven's injury in S3? Do you remember the leak of a shoe covered in blood?
Tumblr media
It's Joyce. ALSO YOU CAN READ THAT WE'LL HAVE SCENES BEFORE THE TIME JUMP. And here it comes. Look at this freaking hair:
Tumblr media
Does this look more like this
Tumblr media
or this?
Tumblr media
The season 4 bowl cut right? So maybe this is right in some part? I dont know. But that could make sense why Will is wearing Mike's pants, because his clothes were in California by that moment. But i really do think that the pic that was leaked a few days ago is before the time jump.
Im so late with this info haha :) but i kinda think some things here make sense. Even if this is too well explained to be a leak.

Take my hand (we'll make it, I swear)
Written for the @steddieholidaydrabbles, day 3
Prompt: Mutual pining
Rated: G
CW: Steve getting vecna'd; Some violent imagery
Tags: Idiots in love; Fluff and angst
Notes: Based on this beautiful piece of art by @house-of-the-moving-image and that one "Steve gets vecna'd" brainworm I've had forever.
Tumblr media
It's always different in the stories, Eddie thinks. When the heroes in the stories realize they're in love, it always comes as this big revelation. The sunlight will glisten off the fair lady's hair, or her eyes will sparkle like the stars in the sky and the hero will suddenly realize that he is in love.
It wasn't like that for him. No dramatic moment, no sudden epiphany. It just sort of … snuck up on him over the past year, and when he noticed, it was too late. He had fallen, completely and irredeemably.
Then again, he is no hero. And Steve is most certainly not a fair lady.
He is still beautiful, of course, lying here in the soft, green grass, hair tousled by the breeze, golden highlights brought out by the setting sun. Eddie's jacket draped over him to fight off the chill.
He's asleep, finally, after what seems like ages, pulled under by the exhaustion of the last few days and that fucking Bon Jovi song blaring from his headphones on an endless repeat loop.
Eddie huffs, twists the daisy he has plucked between his fingers. If he strains his ears, he can just make out the words.
Take my hand, we'll make it, I swear…
Steve's fingers twitch in the grass and Eddie's gaze flies to his face, half expecting to find his eyes wide open and sightless, half expecting him to start floating again and fuck, what will he do, he can't do shit, please, God, he can't-
But Steve’s eyes are closed, his face relaxed. Eddie sighs in relief. Then, following a sudden impulse, he reaches out and tucks the daisy into Steve's hair.
He's no hero and he can't do anything to protect him, but he can make sure he rests while he has the chance, can make sure he has music and beauty and sunlight surrounding him. It's what he deserves.
He deserves so much more.
The harsh snap of the tape ending almost makes him jump out of his skin. Steve flinches awake with an adorable little snort, hand flying up to pull the headphones off. His eyes dart around wildly for a second or two before they land on Eddie and he sags back to the ground.
"Hey," he smiles, voice still sleep-slurred and hoarse. "Sorry, did I doze off?"
The flower is still in his hair.
Eddie snorts, pillows his arms on his knees so that he can hide behind them.
"Are you kiddin' me, dude? You can sleep all you want."
Steve hums vaguely and props himself up on one elbow, busies himself with opening the walkman and turning the tape.
"Feels wrong though," he mutters. "Y’know… just chilling here while the kids-"
"Stevie," Eddie says. Maybe it comes out a bit too harsh, because those pretty eyes blink up at him, confused and a little hurt. He groans.
"The kids are old enough," he then continues, more softly. "They have Wheeler and Buckley with them. Not to mention Supergirl. You don't have to-"
"-babysit them anymore, I know." Steve flops back into the grass, worries his bottom lip between his teeth. "I still feel useless, though."
They stay silent for a while. The wind is getting chillier, now that the sun is dipping behind the trees, and Eddie is starting to shiver in his flannel.
"Thank you, though," Steve mumbles. "For staying around, I appreciate it."
He sounds so small and lost and scared. Eddie plucks another flower so he won't have to look at his face. Hopes that Supergirl will tear Vecna's shrivelled black heart out through his ass and squish it under her shoe like a bug.
"Anything for you, Stevie," he says. Means it.
Steve blinks at him and quickly turns his head, but Eddie imagines he sees the ghost of a smile twitching at his lips.
"Eddie?"
"Hm?"
"I …" Steve watches the blades of grass glide through his fingers. "There's, um … something I've been meaning to tell you, but … I think I'm scared of what you'll say."
Eddie chuckles. "Oh, I already know."
Steve's hand freezes. "You do?"
"Absolutely, man," Eddie nods. "You're not being exactly subtle. There's no way the snack mix comes with that few pretzels, of course you're stuffing them in your face in the kitchen. I mean, be hone- ow!"
Steve has just punched his arm.
"It's not about the pretzels, you asshole," he grins, but then his face goes serious again. "It's… shit, I didn't want to tell you like this, I-"
"Then don't."
Steve's brow crinkles. "But-"
Eddie talks right over him. "You wait until this is over and you tell me when you think the time is right. I'll be there and I'll be waiting. Just like you. We're both gonna be there, okay?"
Steve huffs an exasperated laugh and scrubs a hand down his face, pinches the bridge of his nose. Then he yawns.
"Promise?" His eyes are very bright.
Eddie nods, smiles so wide that his mouth hurts with it.
"Of course. Now go back to sleep, dumbass."
Steve doesn’t protest as he pushes the headphones back over his ears and presses play, just settles back under Eddie's jacket and lets his eyes slip shut. Eddie listens to the opening chords of the song for what must be the thousandth time and wonders if he should take Steve's hand and promise that they'll make it.
Instead, he tucks the second flower into Steve’s hair and prays that it'll be okay.

i managed to find some motivation deep down to make fanart :D this is supposed to be them in s5 in a sort of apocalypse mode
Tumblr media
this is my first fanart so i wanted to go go all out with the details so these are some lil things i added:
ofc i made mike have more blue tones and will more yellow tones, i even used a blue and yellow overlay at the end, but i added small hints of green to show they might get closer in s5
I gave them goggles to reference s2 when mike, max, dustin, steve and lucas wore scarfs and goggles for protection and for a more apocalypse vibe to suit what s5 will most likely be like, but i made will's goggles blue and mike's goggles yellow to sort of symbolise that they are on eachother's minds lol
lil paint stains on wills trousers and i made them look a bit long to make it look like he maybe got them from jonathan
obviously they both have headphones with their favourite music ready in case they get vecna'd
they both have blue plaid patches to show that they probably both ripped their clothing during some epic scene and they stitched their clothes up with the same cloth
mike has a green triangle patch pointing at will lol and i made a lot of triangle imagery as well
will's painting in his green bag
mike has a small town boy shirt
will has more blue in his clothing than mike has yellow, which i thought could be because will is probably borrowing mikes clothing since most his clothes are in cali
and lastly this one is a bit vague but if you know flickergate then you know the importance of mike's backpack and i added one yellow pocket that looked like a letter to show that the letter is in there
and thatss about it hope you guys like it and dont think im crazy :)

Could you do a Steve harrington request where the Henderson!reader is avoiding him because of Nancy so when they break into the Creel house, she offers to get Eddie food so Steve is antsy when they go to find them at Skull Rock worried she might have fallen for Eddie?
i've never done henderson!reader before, but here is my attempt for you, doll! let me know what you think < 3 | 1.4k, fem!reader, jealous!steve, a litttttle angst but fluff in the end, mention of patrick getting vecna'd, eddie being a good pal, language, some gentle fudging of the s4 timeline
Steve knows the last thing he should be worrying about is why you're avoiding him, but he can't help it. Every time he and Nancy enter the room you slip out of it. You're quieter than normal, hardly joking with him and sticking to Dustin and the kids more than normal. But his head is buzzing with keeping everything straight and worrying about how he's going to keep you and Nancy and Robin and everyone safe. Maybe you're just feeling a little out of the loop -- after all, you'd only moved to Hawkins last fall to live with your mom and brother. Dustin had done his best to fold you into the group, and while Steve thinks he and Robin have done a good job at making you feel welcome, all that got you was a ticket to some bullshit happening in an alternate dimension.
So, he's staring at you as you all walk up to the Creel House and wondering how he'll get you to talk to him. Robin notices and leans over.
"Did you ask her out and she turned you down, or something?" Steve shakes his head. He'd planned to do exactly that before Chrissy Cunningham got Vecna'd, he'd even asked Dustin about it -- who said, "Weird dude, don't ask me about that" -- but, well. Shit got in the way. Such is Steve's life.
"Go talk to her," Robin hisses.
"I've been trying," Steve whispers back. He makes eye contact with Nancy she lifts her chin in a silent question. Steve's eyes bounce to you and you're watching the interaction but quickly turn away to jog up to the house. "Shit," he says. "Hey, wait --" He's about to come after you when the radio crackles in Dustin's hand.
"Henderson? Henderson, I need backup here, dude! They're onto me!" You surge over to grab it from your brother.
"I'll be there soon, Eddie," you say into it. "Stay hidden."
"Hurry up, other Henderson!" You hand your flashlight to Dustin and cuff him gently on the head.
"I'll take a bike over there," you say to everyone, already heading back down to the street.
"Woah, woah, woah," Steve says, something in the back of his mind not liking the idea of you going to defend Munson alone. "I'll come."
"No, Steve," you say, not looking at him as you mount the bike. "I'll be faster alone and we'll hide better this way. Plus, you guys need the time together." You shoot a glance at him and Nancy and before he can begin to ask you what you mean you're speeding off down the street.
"What the fuck," he says. "Why did we let her do that?"
"She'll be fine," Dustin calls. "It's just Eddie."
"That's what I'm worried about," Steve mutters.
"Can we get into this creepy house, already?" Max calls.
__
You know as you're pedaling that there's no way you'll get to Eddie in time, but you could not bring yourself to ask Steve to drive you. He's your friend, they all are, but the last few days have been making your head spin. Dustin had spelled everything out for you when you moved to Hawkins but you'd never thought you'd see it yourself. You thought that it would be smooth sailing, a chance to get to know your little brother better, and maybe go out with his cute friend, Steve.
But there's Vecna to worry about and the looks that Nancy and Steve keep exchanging and you think maybe it's better to not get involved with that and focus on the very real, very scary shit happening in front of you. You skid to a stop above the boat house and see that Jason and his cronies are already down there looking for Eddie.
"Shit," you whisper. You ditch the bike in the bushes and try to creep down the slope but then Eddie comes bursting out, the jocks on his heels. You crouch down and watch, trying not to blow your cover but looking for an entrance to help Eddie.
But then everything happens so fast. Eddie gets in the boat and the boys swim after him and then Patrick rises into the air and it's dark but the moon is shining bright and you can't look away as you see the worst thing you've ever seen in your life and promptly throw up in a bush.
Eddie makes his way back to shore and spots you, rushing over with abject horror on his face.
"What the fuck just happened?" he says hoarsely. "Did you see that?" You can only nod and he reaches out to run his hands along your arms. You realize belatedly you're trembling.
"I'm sorry I wasn't here sooner, I saw them and I waited but then Patrick --" your voice breaks. "Oh my god, Eddie, you've seen it twice."
"Would you believe me if I said I didn't want to dwell on it?" He rubs his hands down his face. "Let's go, Harrington and Dustin will kill me if those letterman asshats find you." He grabs you and you start running. As soon as you get your hands on the radio, Eddie finds the frequency and you hear Dustin shouting.
"Do you copy? Do you copy? Are you okay? Where is my sister?"
"I'm here," you say, grabbing it from Eddie. "We're fine."
"Is she there? Give that to me, Henderson," Steve calls, and the line crackles. "Munson, do you know where Skull Rock is?"
Eddie laughs, an exhausted but pleasant sound. You can't wait for this to be over so you can be friends.
"Spicy, Harrington," he says.
"Just get there, dude. Be careful." Steve sounds pissed, and you're sure you're missing something. But Eddie just sighs, the laughter gone.
"Are we actually heading to a rock shaped like a skull?" you ask, but he just starts walking.

If he's honest, Steve is freaked the fuck out. He has no idea what happened to you and Munson and how you got away from Jason. He's walking, almost running, ignoring Dustin as he tries to tell him they're headed in the wrong direction, everyone else trailing behind them.
"Steve, can I level with you?" Dustin says, a little out of breath. "Man to man."
"What do you want, dude?" What if you got hurt? What if you got into a fight?
"I get that you're obsessed with my sister--"
"I am not obsessed with her--"
"But you're moving way too slow. Y'know, maybe she's into Eddie, he's pretty cool --"
"Do you think she's into Eddie?" Steve says. Dustin is laughing at him but he doesn't care.
"I don't know. I don't talk to my sister about this shit, dude." Dustin pats him on the chest and continues on. "Make a move!"
"Shithead," Steve calls.
"Hey!" He hears your voice and the tension melts off of his shoulders. You sound fine. Maybe Munson took care of you, he thinks sourly. The trees clear and he sees you hugging Dustin. You look alright, tired, but no black eye or bloody lip that he'd been afraid of. Munson, for what it's worth, looks fine too.
"You okay, buddy?" you ask your brother, giving him a squeeze. He gets embarrassed and lets you go in favor of hugging Eddie. Steve hovers and you can see the rest of the group making their way up to the rock. Patrick's crumpled figure flashes before your eyes again and you surge forward into Steve's arms.
"Are you okay?" he says softly, holding you tight to his chest. "What happened?"
You breathe him in for just a moment. "I got there too late and hid, but then Vecna got to one of Jason's friends and he..."
"You saw it?" Steve gasps. "God, I'm sorry, baby, that must have been some scary shit." His hands are running up and down your back. A smile creeps onto your face and your cheeks heat.
"Baby?" you say, pulling back from his chest a little to look at him.
"Oh," Steve says, "well. Yeah. That okay?" His eyes flicker back to where Eddie and Dustin are talking and it clicks. He thought you and Eddie were a thing? But then...you look back and see Nancy eyeing the two of you with a smile. Well, shit.
"Yeah, Steve," you say. You reach up and run a hand through his hair before you give him a swift kiss on the cheek. "That's okay. Baby."
"Oh my god, someone call Vecna to put my eyes out!" Dustin yells.
"Not funny!" you and Steve yell at the same time.

( 🥐 anon )
i'm rewatching season one and tommy is yelling at steve for "running away". it just made me think of eddie and how he criticized himself for running when chrissy got vecna'd.
what if eddie survived the upside down and steve is like "why didn't you run?" and eddie explains that he didn't know why, he just felt like he should fight. it reminds steve of that time he stopped running (when jonathan and nancy were attacked in the house).
i don't know where i am going with this, but i figured you might have something to add if you wanted. :D
Hello again :D
Oh my beloved parallel <333 I thought about this all day and ended up writing a lil something about it :)
---
'I've been meaning to ask you something for a while,' Steve says. He's sitting right next to Eddie's hospital bed, like he has been often these past days, keeping him company and making him laugh and helping him with every little thing. It sounds oddly serious and Eddie just frowns at him in response.
'Why didn't you run?'
The question hangs in the air between them for a couple of seconds. Then, Eddie scoffs. 'Says the guy who insisted on being the one at the front lines,' he retorts.
Instead of bickering back, Steve stares at him, seemingly taking his time to carefully consider what Eddie had meant to be a throwaway remark.
'You know, the first time all this shit went down... I kinda did the same,' he finally admits. 'It was Tommy, of all people, who got in my head. Told me that I was always running away. And that's exactly what I did when I saw what was going on at the Byers' house.'
Steve had told Eddie all about it, earlier: about how he showed up to apologize to Jonathan and instead got robed into that whole Upside Down shitshow.
'Nance told me to leave. She pointed a fucking gun at my face and told me to get the hell out. And then the lights started doing their freaky flashy stuff and I - I ran.' He sighs. 'And then I came back,' he adds quietly. 'So that's why you didn't run, too?'
'I kept thinking about Chrissy,' Eddie says, his voice barely more than a whisper. 'How I left her there to die. I couldn't - I just couldn't run away again. Simple as that.'
Steve keeps looking into his eyes intently, holding his gaze, as if he's searching for something. Eddie almost forgets to breathe, feeling exposed and vulnerable with those soft brown eyes on him and the silence around the two of them.
'I guess this is where I should say "please don't do that again next time",' Steve says, his voice sounding strangely choked as he cuts through the silence. 'But apparently we both know it's not that simple, huh?'
Eddie nods, still stunned under the intensity of Steve's gaze. He thinks back to how it felt when he thought he was dying. It had been terrifying and awful and goddamn painful more than anything else, obviously. But there had also been something that almost felt like relief. He knew, in that moment, that he could never go back to being a coward again. That he had faced it all and didn't regret trying to be better, trying to protect his people.
Maybe he should also be brave in a different way, he thinks. So he stretches out his hand, rests it on Steve's, and gently squeezes.

i wanna write. make me write people. please. it's been so long.
here's some current wips you can make me write, along w brief descriptions (yes ik there's a lot of them) :
secrets
omega!steve/alpha!eddie - in which steve and eddie are decidedly NOT a thing. eddie gets a record deal, steve finds out he's pregnant, and shenanigans ensue when he doesn't tell eddie (find more info here)
rockstar slice of life
rockstar!eddie/just some guy!steve - the boys live in chicago. eddie is in a band w new bandmates (he's still friends w the corroded coffin boys, but they had different dreams and passions. it was a mutual breakup on good terms). steve is the Band Boyfriend, making sure nobody dies. it is very fluffy and has minimal plot
daycare
omega!steve/alpha!eddie - steve runs a daycare out his home and takes care of The Party. based on a prompt from the WONDERFUL @nburkhardt (find more info here)
russian adventures
essentially steve goes to russia instead of hopper. it's all about the effects the experience had on him and how he tries to find normalcy again after being presumed dead for almost a year. perhaps a sprinkle of steddie but mostly steve navigating his relationships w the Party knowing that he's not the same person he was before
i've loved everything about you that hurt
this is like one of the very few with an actual title. it's based on G.I.N.A.S.F.S. by Fall Out Boy. it is an angsty steddie one shot set in eddie's pov (i have not yet figured out how to start writing this but i will figure it out)
steve's parents don't suck
i have no better title for this one tbh. basically, steves parents are famous musicians in a band. it's mostly about him not talking ab it w anyone, but the Party slowly figuring it out themselves. he uses connections to help corroded coffin as much as he can. i don't really have a plot yet
rockstar angst
rockstar!eddie/teacher!steve - they have a big fight right before eddie takes off to pursue his music, leaving steve behind to simmer in his anger and frustration. steve follows eddie's career closely, but they don't see each other again for fifteen years. there's still bad blood between them, even after so much time, but eventually they will work their shit out
stepdads
omega!steve/alpha!eddie - steve is a single parent. eddie falls in love. shenanigans ensue. (find more info here)
the things that haunt me (in the middle of the night)
in simplest terms, steve gets vecna'd. he doesn't tell anyone. very angsty with a lot of steve hurt, but a happy comforting ending (find slightly more info here)
alright that's all i have to share right now. there's other things swirling thru my docs but nothing ready for tumblr yet. idk just like send me asks and make me write things. also if you have any ideas to add to any of these, i wouldn't say no. i will answer all of them as quickly as possible, and they will most likely all include some snippet that i write for each one :))

It would've been so cool if during the scene when Steve hears Dustin "in the walls" of the Wheeler's house, he's the only one who could hear it.
Like he tries to tell the others that Dustin's there or his voice is there. But in reality, it's Steve being lured in by Vecna.
And Dustin's voice goes from normal talking to something panicked. A danger is lurking kind of panicked. And Steve's protective instincts kick in and he can't turn that part of him off. He's just stuck in fight mode for too long. Getting jumpy and putting himself in front of the others. Nancy, Robin, and Eddie think it's weird, but get more and more concerned the more that time passes and Steve is...panicked beyond belief, gasping and hiccuping at every sound, spinning in place, arms up and blocking, eyes wide and searching, silently listening and uncharacteristically serious. He gets to the point where all he can hear around him is the screaming for help from the party members. And the only thing that gets him resolved is a tape playing and somebody holding onto him, urging him to relax.
The moment he thinks it's safe to take his headphones off (because he thinks the screaming and the urgent voices have stopped) Vecna gets him in his hold. And oddly, the only way that gets Steve away from Vecna and back to regular Hawkins, is the genuine urgent pleading of his friends, begging for him to come back to them. To fight Vecna's control and to follow their voices. (Whereas before, the panicked words were coming from everywhere with no sign of stopping, no real instruction as to where the disembodied voices were coming from.)
Also, Steve would definitely offer himself as bait in the Creel house. Imagine he gets Vecna'd and the other person there with him is Robin. And he dies in his best friend's arms. But this time, Robin realizes his death is very real. She knows what holding a limp and bleeding and broken body is like. She knows what it's like being present for the death of Steve Harrington. And all she can think, besides the obvious that her best friend is dead, is that she didn't sign up for this. (But she'd do it all over again if it meant that Steve didn't die in the end.)
Obviously, he wouldn't die. But imagine the angst. Imagine him coming back to himself in the hospital. He comes back different, not wrong, but different. He's no longer playful. Doesn't want to talk. Always staring, unfocused and frightened. Doesn't even care that his key feature, his hair, has been shaved down from how unruly it got during his time in the hospital. He's a shadow of himself. Lingering in what Vecna inflicted onto him. Not placing himself as an outcast, constantly outside of the group. In fact, he's practically too intertwined with everybody. Too much in people's space. Fitting himself between gaps. Needing to be close. Needing to be alert. Barely sleeps. And if he does, it isn't for long, awoken by voices. Has to call everybody, hear their voices soft and natural. Doesn't seek out romantic relationships because he knows he won't be able to explain what happened to him. He's overprotective and awfully afraid. Can't sit in silences because he imagines his friend's screams.
And even when he dates Eddie (because I'm going to make this Steddie, bite me), he is content to just listen to Eddie ramble. On and on. Doesn't allow him to stop. Will ask questions if only to keep the silence at bay. Needs to be close in his sleep. Needs the constant touch and the constant affection. Needs to be reassured. Won't leave Robin's side either. At work or in social functions. She relies on him and he relies on her. They often have late night phone calls that stretch on for hours. Steve in his kitchen, hunched over the phone at his island, repeating over and over that he's alive and reasonably okay. And Robin on the other side, comforting him that everybody is safe and that she's not in danger and nobody is going to need him this late at night. Eddie getting out of bed to Steve slumped and asleep at the counter, phone still tight in his grip. Lugging him to the couch to sleep. Sitting nearby, on the floor or at Steve's feet. One hand on his ankle or his wrist or on his shaved scalp.
Just Steve growing dependent on everybody. Instead of them being dependent on him. And also being tremendously traumatized. And just...abnormal.
Anyway. Maybe I'll write this. If not, here's an idea lol.

I think a lot of situations get interpreted differently based on who is saying/doing something rather than taking the whole situation or relationship dynamic into consideration.
When Steve tells Nancy he wants to marry her and have 6 kids the people who stan Steve think it's romantic. But Steve broke up with Nancy 2+ years prior and has had minimal interaction with her since then. And no one-on-one interaction until S4 (and even then it was minimal). If Jonathan had been in his situation it wouldn't have been considered romantic. If they broke up and didn't see each other again for years and suddenly after 3 days of reuniting he was proposing and saying he wanted 6 kids with her, people would be understandably weirded out by this. The action itself was awkward when you consider their relationship (or lack thereof). The circumstances made that an inappropriate thing to say. It shouldn't matter who is saying it.
If Mike's monologue to El was done by one of the other couples, people would assume that relationship was doomed. If Hopper kept saying generic "it was love at first sight" crap and wasn't able to give any specific examples of why Joyce means a lot to him it wouldn't be good. Hopper has known Joyce since they were younger and not being able to reference any kind of moment that meant something to him would of course be a red flag.
But I can't even picture one of the younger couples saying this instead of Mike. Not even Dustin and Susie who seem like they know each other pretty well even though we don't see much of them. They bond over science and movies. I think they could come up with a speech more specific than the one Mike came up with. And I know Lucas and Max would have done better here. At least the Lucas and Max of S4. They are both more emotionally mature with regard to the way they relate to each other. And if Lucas had gotten a chance to say something like this to Max when she was being Vecna'd he could have. Because him and Max have bonded and they have shared interests and actually like spending time together.
So I don't buy for one second that Mike's speech was just age appropriate because he gave better speeches to Will multiple times - the shed in S2, and in Lenora in S4. And Mike has spent enough time with El at this point that he should be able to clearly explain why he likes her with examples easily. Even a 5 year old can tell you why they like their friend. It may be with basic examples like they have the same favorite color but they can still give reason. Mike's example of her wearing a yellow shirt when they met isn't a reason why he likes her. It's a statement of fact like him saying it was raining and cold. It's not personal.
And that talk in Lenora - the flirty one with Will where he's checking him out and telling him how nothing is the same without him - would have 100% be viewed as romantic if Mike said it to El. Or if Jonathan said it to Nancy. Or if Lucas said it to Max. No one would doubt this for a second. But Mike has never spoken to El like this ever. He has never acted like he's attracted to her (she hasn't acted like she's attracted to him either). They don't have that kind of relationship.
But people's perception is different when it's Mike and Will so they bypass the flirting and make excuses. If you can apply the same action and dialogue to a different group of people the response should be the same. If Dustin had checked out Lucas and told him Hawkins wasn't the same without him I would immediately assume a romantic relationship was being planned there. Because the action itself is inherently romantic. It would also feel completely out of place and random since there was no build up, but Mike and Will have been acting like this with each other for couple seasons now. They have this relationship dynamic where flirting is now normal, but Mike and El don't do this. Not ever. They do not act the way other romantic couples act.
It's not the story being more age appropriate. They are 15 years old and they were separated from each other for months. They would be all over each other when they reunited. But instead we get:
- Mike being super awkward and trying not to get close enough to her to hug properly and avoiding eye contact at the same time all while hyper focused on Will, - Mike asking El if she is going to hang out with her friends right after they reunite (why don't you want alone time with your girlfriend Mike?), - El trying to get Mike to focus on her and her alone and completely ignoring that Will is there and missing his friend, - Mike completely missing the fact that El is uncomfortable around Angela because he wasn't paying attention to her, - Mike not even asking her what she's been up to lately or how she is (they talked about milkshakes for fucks sake. Nothing substantial), - Mike getting distracted when he's trying to look for her to focus on Will and doing the least to comfort her when she's upset. They haven't seen each other in months and this was their big romantic reunion? Again, with any other couple this would spell out the end. It would take a lot for them to come back from this. A forced I love you when things are dire isn't fixing this. It wouldn't fix any other couple either. The situation/circumstances are inherently problematic. No matter who it involves.

How the nugget conversation really went after Steve told Nancy about his dream:
Eddie: *popping up behind Steve* Oooh, I want six kids too! If you add your six to mine, it will make an even dozen!
Steve: *scoffs and rolls his eyes.*
Nancy: *giggling* That means he wants you.
Eddie: *batting his eyelashes* I'll make the proper little housewife for you, Stevie.
Steve: Hey! If it's anyone going to be a housewife, it's going to be me! . . .I mean, househusband! I mean. . . Fuck!
Eddie and Nancy: *giggling*
Yeah, Steve wants to be a housewife. He could see it, too. The winnebago parked out front of his big house, a house they turned into a home. He has his own bakery, and it's doing well enough that he pretty much makes his own hours. So, he's at home with a baby on his hip when the door opens and Eddie strolls in from work. He swoops in to give Steve a kiss and then their baby's forehead. Eddie turns on the radio, and then they're dancing in his arms. A hand on his shoulder jolted him out of his daydream.
Eddie: *pale* Man, we thought you had been Vecna'd.
Steve: I'm good, I swear.
Later on, when Vecna was dead and the others had made their way back only to discover Eddie's prone body lying on the ground. His heart nearly stopped. Determined, he walked over and put a hand on Eddie's neck. There was still a pulse. Dustin stopped crying and watched, open-mouthed as Steve lifted Eddie up into his arms.
Eddie: *blinking sleepily* wassgoingon? Just - just leave me here to die, man.
Steve: No, we have to get married and make all those babies remember? I bet I look good pregnant.
Eddie: *suddenly more alert* I'm awake.
Dustin: What?!
Steve: No time. We have to get him out of here.
In the end, Steve got his dream. Not the 12 kids, that was always a bit much but illegally marrying Eddie, opening up a bakery, and adopting a couple of twins? Yeah, he got that. When the bakery was well enough, they could drop everything, load up the winnebago, and hit the road. It was a dream come true for Eddie and Steve, even though Eddie never did get Steve pregnant. (Not like he didn't try, though.)

steve gets vecna'd (stancy)
“Favorite song!” Nancy cries, shaking Steve by the shoulders. “Robin, what’s—“
“I-it’s, shit, uh.” Robin’s hands are shaking, terrified. “Careless Whisper! His favorite song is Careless Whisper!”
“George Michael? Fucking George Michael?!” Eddie shouts, scrambling through tapes.
“Is this really the time for your music snobbery?”
“It is when I don’t have any George Michael in my fucking trailer!”
“I’m never gonna dance again,” Robin sings. “Guilty feet have got no rhythm! Though it’s easy to pretend—“
“I know you’re not a fool,” Nancy joins. Her voice isn’t the best, but it’s better than nothing.
She and Robin harmonize the best they can, trying to keep a rhythm amidst the panic. Then Robin has to break off.
“Nancy, do you know all the words?”
She doesn’t stop singing as an answer. Of course she knows the words, she and Steve had listened to it together over and over again when it first came out. Neither of them are particularly good singers, but they gave it their all. Enduring more than a few disgusted looks from Mike when they had to give him a ride somewhere.
She still can’t hear the song without smiling. It wasn’t the same without Steve’s rough voice in the mix, but that’s her own fault. She doesn’t get to miss what she gave away.
Her voice rises above the noise of their friends, practically shouting when she reaches the crescendo. “Tonight the music seems so loud! I wish that we could lose this crowd.” His feet start leaving the floor, and she grips his arms desperately enough to leave bruises. “Maybe it’s better this way, we’d hurt each other with the things we want to say! We could have been so good together, we could have lived this dance forever, but now who’s gonna dance with me?” There’s tears streaming down her face, and her voice breaks when she sings, “Please—“
He falls.
“Nancy?”
“Yeah?” She gasps out on a sob. He’s alive, her heart sings. He’s alive, he’s alive, he’s alive—
“You’re kind of on my bites.”
“Your…oh!” She scrambles off of him. God, how could she forget he’d been eaten alive? She pushes the vest aside, examining them with a single minded determination that has no room for the embarrassed flush on her face.
They’re bleeding again. Shit.
“Do you think you can make it up the rope?”
“Yeah, I’ll be fine,” he says. She can hear the waver in his voice, and she knows he’s not sure at all. She can’t do anything about that, though. He’s got at least fifty pounds on her, she doubts she could help him up.
She almost calls for Eddie, but Steve’s already heaving himself up the rope.
He groans when he lands on the mattress, and everyone surrounds him instantly. Dustin throws himself down on top of him, and Steve lets out a pained yelp.
“Bites!” Eddie exclaims, waving his hands. “The man’s been chewed on by hell beasts, Henderson, be careful!”
“He what?” Dustin shrieks.
