[TL] The King Below the Moonlight/Chapter 1

Rei Sakuma 2nd Feature Scout

Summary: The photos for Rei's Feature Live are mostly lax, candid shots, and the Producer can't quite articulate this to him. It's probably best for Rei to reconsider...

Season: Winter

Location: Cafeteria

Rei: Hmm. What to do…

Koga: Oi. Have you still not made up your mind? Haven’t ya agonised over this for long enough? I don’t wanna pressure ya or anythin’ but it’ll be best if you just decide.

Rei: I’m afraid it’s not that easy. The employee’s cafeteria has such a wide selection of food that I'm overwhelmed by the choices. I’m not sure what to get.

See, just looking at the menu is enough to quell my hunger.

Koga: Oi oi… Ain’t you getting your priorities twisted?

Rei: Right then, Koga. This is now a stakeout mission. Go around the cafeteria and see what everyone else is eating!

Koga: Aye aye! Leave it t’me.

—Is that your idea of a prank!? Why'dya even think about tryin’ to get me to do that!?

Rei: You got me. A shame. What made you realise…? Sit down, Wanko.

—Hm? Who was that? I heard my name…

Oya, it’s Jou-chan. Yes yes, thank you for all your hard work. Was it you who was calling out to me?

It’s lunch at the moment, so how about joining us?

Koga: Hey, somethin’ wrong? Yer face looks all sad. Whassup?

Rei: Huh? Ah, you’ve brought the photographs from the Feature Live shoot.

Koga: What the-. Give us a smile then. Your job and expression should match, y’know?

Rei: Umu. Is there more you’d like to say, Jou-chan? Is there something amiss?

Hm? There’s a problem with the photographs, and they can no longer be used?

I see. There’s not much I can do without seeing them first. Could I take a peek?

Koga: Lemme see too…

This one is of the vampire bastard meltin’ under the studio lights, and this one’s him sleepin’ in the coffin I brought t’the waiting room!

Is this you jus’ tryna seem cute ‘n innocent to cover up for the mistakes you made…? Are there actually no decent pictures~?

Well, if these are meant t’be Sakuma-senpai’s offstage persona, then they’ll do. But otherwise? Useless.

Rei: Ehhh~... That’s untrue. They’re still candid photos, and it’s gap moe. Look, don’t you think this is cute?

Koga: Well uh. You gotta consider havin’ the right balance.

Even though it's for the solo live, all the other guys’ have charmin’ photos, so it's lame if yours is the only one that’s so relaxed, right?

Showing a side of ya not seen on stage doesn’t mean bein’ lazy ‘bout it. Ain’t you the leader of an extreme and immoral unit?

Rei: Hmm. Do you share the same opinion as Koga, Jou-chan?

I see. Dearie me… How troublesome. But if that’s what you both believe, I suppose I’ll retake them…

Well then, Jou-chan. Could you squeeze me into your schedule once more?

Time: One week later

Location: RhyLink Office

Kuro: Huh? Yo, Sakuma.

Rei: Ah, Kiryu-kun. Though we share the same office space, I haven’t seen much of you lately. There’s something refreshing about it.

Kuro: Well, if we don’t see each other here, we will at the dorms.

Rei: What are you working on?

Kuro: Huh? Me? I got told to come pick up the script for next week’s recordin’. Speakin’ a which, weren’t you part of it too?

Rei: Ahh, so this is the script I received just now?

So in other words, we’ll be working together with AKATSUKI? I look forward to that.

Kuro: Ah yeah, same here.

Rei: Hm? Is that Jou-chan, hiding behind Kiryu-kun’s large frame?

Kuro: Ha?---Oh, Jou-chan. You scared me.

Oh, am I in your way? If so, my bad.

Rei: I see. You were looking for me? Again?

Ah, you have the new photographs we took. Come, come, show me.

Kuro: Heh. Feels real Sakuma-like. Fans’ll be real happy, right?

Rei: Yes. If we’ve received Kiryu-kun’s stamp of approval, then surely these will do.

Oya? It seems Jou-chan is still unsure about it…?

Kukuku… I don’t believe there’s anything wrong.

Not only does the Producer look up to the idol, the idol also looks up to the Producer.

What’s causing you trouble, Jou-chan?

I see… You don’t think it’s me enough…? I’m missing that secret ingredient to really make it pop… hm…

Yes, it’s quite hard to say.

Eh? Nevermind? Well, what are you concerned about then?

I see. So that’s why the photographs are fine? Everything’s dandy then.

While reading some Star wars prequel trilogy fanfictions I suddenly realise something. Prequel's fans use mando'a in the same way anime's fans use Japanese.

It's fascinating. How many of theses fans where anime's fans before? How many correspondance between the 2 vocabulary can we find?

Let's try with some of the most common terms used.

Mando'a (English) => Japanese used by anime's fans (not always in the original or correct meaning in Japanese but one I have often see the past 20 years.)

ba'buir (grandfather, grandmother)=> Baba (old woman), Jiji (old man), ojii-san (grand father), obaa-san (grand mother). In the two cases the terms are also used to design any old people.

ba'vodu (uncle, aunt)=> oji-san (uncle), oba-san (aunt).

beskad/kad (slightly curved, pointed saber of Mandalorian iron/saber, sword) => Katana

buir (parent/father / mother)=> otou-san (father), okaa-san (mother)

cabur (guardian, protector)=> depending of the situation it could be the same think than ba'vodu or buir

copikla (charming, cute (babies and animals - never women unless you want your head ripped off)) => Kawaii or moe except it's totally ok tu used this word for woman.

cyare (beloved, loved, popular) => i know there is one but I can remember it right now. Maybe the habit of people to use the honorific sama for the man or hime for the woman to show the characters are love interest?

di'kut (idiot, useless individual, waste of space) => baka

Gedet'ye (Please)=> Onegaishimasu, onegai

Gev (Stop it!)=>yameru or yamete kudasai

Ka'ra (stars - ancient Mandalorian myth - ruling council of fallen kings) => Kami-sama

kih'vod (little brother/sister ?) =>imouto and otouto

mandokarla (having the "right stuff", showing guts and spirit, the state of being the epitome of Mando virtue) => kakkoii (“good-looking”, “handsome”, “cool in a manly way”, they totally used the 2 terms in the sames way)

mesh'la (beautiful) => bishounen and bishoujo

Me'ven? (Huh? What? ) => nani?

Ne'johaa! (Shut up!) =>urusai ("Noisy", "Loud", "Annoying" or "Fussy". In some context heavily implied they need to just shut up)

Ni ceta (sorry (lit: I kneel) grovelling apology - rare) => sumimasen or gomenasai and other variations

ori'jate/jate (exelent/good) => sugoi

ori'vod (big brother, older brother, special friend) => onii-san, ani-ki, sempai, onee-chan and all the others variations.

osik (dung, shit)=> kuso !

Oya! (Many meanings: literally "Let's hunt!" and also "Stay alive!", but also Hoorah!, "Go you!", "Cheers!" Always positive and triumphant.)=> Yatta!

Re'turcye mhi (Goodbye - lit. "Maybe we'll meet again")=>sayounara

Su cuy'gar (Hello - lit. "You're still alive.") => konichiwa, ohaoyou, kombanwa

verd'ika (private (rank of a soldier)) => kouhai (it's the younger student or less experience worker in a company in the relation sempai/kouhai. The meaning are different but I think it's often used in the same way. With ori'vod used in the place of sempai. )

vod (comrade, "mate", brother, sister) => nakama (especially in the one piece fandom. They probably could make a contest with the star wars fandom to see who will use vod or nakama the most often.)

Vor'e! (Thanks!) => arrigato

I'm pretty sure there is a lot of other exemples. I hope my rambling was not too incomprehensible. My English is not always very good. And my japanese is almost inexistant. But, bloody hell, this think hit me yesterday evening like a train and I need to vent it somewhere to get it out of my head.

A Fish out of Water

Synopsis: What is type of pet would each Twisted Wonderland Character have?

Characters: Octavinelle Dorm Students

Pairings: None

A/N: Part 3 of the pets series! Heartslabuyl & Savanaclaw

Azul Ashengrotto

Azul would be very careful before choosing a pet. This animal would need to be a business investment of some kind.

It would need to be an animal that could bring in a crowd to the Monstro Lounge while also not being a burden to the business itself. Whether this companion actually performs some sort of duty at the Lounge or it would be there just for the magicam clout, it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. The main objective is that this cute creature needs to bring in the dough!

Cat cafés would be tempting, but due to the aloof nature of cats, they would most likely drive Azul insane. They would hop on top of tables and sit their butts on the tabletops, knock glasses in the guests' laps, hop on shelves with expensive antiques, try to eat the guests' food, and most horrible of all, the large amount of cat hair everywhere to clean!

Azul could invest in exotic fish, which could fit the theme of the lounge, but that’s boring.

The very cute, clean, and cuddly animal that would be appropriate for this situation could be the adorable Chinchilla!

Since they are creatures that have a gentle temperament with high energy, customers would love to interact with them. They would also be so nice to hold since they’re so fluffy!

They’re most active at dawn and dusk which is the perfect time range since the lounge (assuming) would be open after school hours anyways.

They can be litter trained and they don’t have much of a smell, which would be perfect for a café setting!

Also, their diets are basically the same as a rabbit's diet, and since the lounge needs ingredients for dishes anyways, they could buy them in bulk, which would be so much cheaper! Profit!

Also, imagine Azul being at his desk and trying to finish some paperwork, but he actually has a chinchilla on his lap that he can’t stop snuggling! He would be trying to constantly hide his adoration for these fuzz balls from the tweels (which is why it’s on his lap and not on the desk). However, the moment Jade catches a glance at Azul’s gap moe face (something like: ╰(⸝⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝⸝)╯), Jade wouldn’t be able to resist the urge to continue teasing him for at least a week!

With a big, toothy grin, Jade would say, “Oya~ I didn’t realize you could make such a face, Azul~” Azul’s face would flush a dark red, then he would get all tsundere and mad (with a pitiful excuse like “You’re seeing things! I’m not enjoying this creature’s company! It jumped in my lap first!” Then Jade would reply coyly, “I never said anything about there being a chinchilla.” Azul would then be speechless while gaping like a fish out of water pun intended).

However, a disadvantage of having chinchillas at the lounge is that you gotta be careful with them around the tweels. Don’t let Jade feed them mushrooms since they can be too acidic for their sensitive tummies. And of course don’t let Floyd near them or he’ll fall in love with their fluffiness, which will result in him squeezing them too hard.

Jade Leech

As a more patient and responsible man, Jade would be able to tolerate any pet and it would be in good, capable hands. However, Jade deserves an animal companion that would complement his passions and needs. There’s got to be a give and take, no?

For his passion for hiking, one would immediately think of a dog as a companion, right? For some reason, dogs seem a bit too high maintenance, intimate (physically), and energetic for someone like Jade. It’s also possible he could get bored of a dog since they are so obedient and easy to predict. Although, he could teach it tricks to mediate that concern. There are also dogs with lower energy levels, but with Jade’s personality and preferences, he’d most likely enjoy the company of a cat instead due to their independent nature. He’d find a cat’s shenanigans amusing and interesting while the independent, aloof personality to be somewhat refreshing. However, cats are probably not the best hiking buddies (there are some out there, but would Jade even have the time to leash train a cat? Every time I try to put a leash on my cats, they just flop to the ground like a fish and just awkwardly stay there all sad and pitiful. Also, he already has his brother which is basically the equivalent of a moody cat.)

After much thought, the fancy rat would be one of the best options for Jade.

One big reason is that rats are very sociable animals that actually get stressed from little to no person/animal interactions. Jade is also known for feeling a bit lonely without company, so they would be each other’s company! He would also probably want two rats when he was away for longer periods of time during the day.

Due to their small size, they could easily fit in a pocket or a bag and he could carry them around during a more quiet and uneventful day. This also includes taking them on hikes as well! He’s the only member of the Mountain Lovers Club, so when he hikes, he’s probably at least a little lonely. With a rat buddy or two, he could hike all he wanted and he would not need to worry to much about his companions' physical strain from walking around or overheating. He could have them hop in his bag with a fan, or give them water and sit in the shade while observing some mushrooms.

Another big reason they are a good pet for Jase is that rats are one of the few domesticated pets (besides Dogs and pigs) that can actually eat mushrooms! They can only have a small amount though, but Jade only raises the highest quality mushrooms! High quality goods are hard to come by for someone with a keen eye like himself. He’d make sure to give his pet only the best of the best on the rare occassion he cultivates a suprerior mushroom.

Rats are also very intelligent, which would intrigue Jade quite a bit. How can such a small animal with a tiny brain figure out advance puzzles? He’d definitely buy or make a variety of treat puzzles to see how long it would take his fur babies to get to the delectable treats (the treats are probably mushrooms). He’d probably try different types of treats to see if that would affect the motivation to solve the puzzle quicker.

If Jade was adept enough with Animal Linguistics for rodents (I would assume all of Octavinelle would be better at it since they live in the sea with fish? But I could be wrong), he would, without hesitation, teach the rats to hide in the shadows and spy for him. Later that day they could tell him all the juice gossip and details that are occuring around the school. He’d be careful to leave them in a location where no one would see it. Some places he would use would be: deep lamp shades, in the eaves of buildings that only tall individuals like himself could reach, in the high branches of trees, or even in his or Azul/Floyd’s school bags (to listen if people are talking behind their back when they leave the room). Since people are scared of mice and rats, a good hiding place is essential. He doesn’t need someone screaming and attempting to kill his little fur babies for some petty information.

Finally, rats are low maintenance pets, which is perfect for the vice housewarden of Octavinelle. Not only does he have his vice housewarden duties, but he has to attend to his job at the Monstro Lounge, take care of Floyd (whenever he feels like Floyd's shenanigans could cause trouble for him and Azul), perform any tasks that Azul may ask of him and who knows what else. This man is super busy all the time (let's not forget to mention school, his frequent hikes, and the time he takes to cultivate his mushies. How does he actually even manage it all?), so by having an animal that he doesn’t need to be walked every few hours or be entertained at all hours of the day is quite important. However at the end of they day, they would always be there when he had some free time and wanted to unwind without the absurdities that Floyd and Azul bring along with them.

Floyd Leech

This animal needs to have a body of steel (especially if it’s on the cute side) in order to be a pet of Floyd’s. Otherwise, it would probably be squeezed to death or tormented for his amusement (like a cat playing with its prey). Granted he wouldn’t do it on purpose per se, but at the end of the day, this animal needs to be careful of this hug-giving fiend.

Jade would be responsible for being an “animal screener”. He would know the basic criteria this critter would need to have so that his brother could (and would actually WANT to) take care of in the long term. Jade would be able to determine with ease whether this "new curiosity" his brother had in mind would be “Floyd-Proof”.

For example, Floyd would come bouncing in with a big smile one afternoon and exclaim to Jade that he just found the perfect pet on magicam! Jade would stare silently for a brief moment at the phone screen with a picture of some sort of fluffy creature full of joy. Jade would give a defeated sigh, smile sympathetically, and shrug his shoulders while explaining to Floyd that another fragile animal as a pet would only bring him momentary happiness.

He would then remind his pouting brother of the time they had adopted a stray pufferfish when they were children. Back then, Floyd would love to scare the pitiful baby sp that it would blow up into a spiky ball. He would then softly pat it up so that it would stay susended in the spaace above his hands. Then he would see how long the floaty pet could stay up before hitting the soft sand. Finally, Floyd would get the brilliant idea to start smacking it higher and higher up to see how long it would take to float down. He then remembered this one book Azul had read to him about this sport called "Volleyball"? Inside the book, it described a spherical shaped item in the air that the humans would smack to the ground to some kind of point. He then had best idea of the day! He should mimic the pictures of the book and give his floaty pet a good tap. Sad to say that their puffy friend didn’t not survive the next day.

In the past, animals only provided a short release of boredom for Floyd.

That being said, the boa constrictor would most likely be able to survive its life in Floyd’s hand.

It’s not because snakes are basically land eels, I swear.

Instead of Floyd squeezing it, the boa could squeeze him instead and maybe that would satisfy him enough to not squeeze the poor noodle to near death

Boa constrictors are on the larger side of pet snakes, which would be like a giant hug for Floyd. Due to their larger size, they need a stronger owner to handle them. With Floyd’s tall stature and strong physique, he would be perfect to handle a boa constrictor with ease.

Imagine this large snake wrapping itself all around Floyd. He’ be totally thrilled! He’s normally the one to give squeezes, not the other way around! He could give it a softer squeeze by hugging himself while the snake wraps itself all around his body. Not only is it cute to imagine, but it’s most likely quite terrifying to anyone who happened to pass by.

In Floyd’s mind, the aesthetic of a snake draping off of his shoulders like a scarf would also be pretty cool. Not only would it look badass but it could be used as a threatening image to anyone he wished to intimidate as well. (It might have just occurred to me that it might as well replace his Octavinelle scarf!)

Let’s be honest, Floyd would get some sick matching shoes to go along with his snake’s scale pattern. He would pair them with a stylish darker hoodie jacket, a bright graphic tee, and some ripped jeans. (I'm not the best fashion stylist, but some sort of outfit like that)

Like, let’s say someone doesn’t fulfill Azul’s contract and Floyd would HAPPEN to walk out from the back with his big noodle baby draped on his shoulders with a big sickening grin. “Ehhh~? Did me and my buddy hear you say that you didn’t hold your side of the deal? Do you need us to give you a big squeeze?” This poor soul would be shiver so bad that they would melt into a small puddle of fear goo. What a sad fool, like why would you take Azul’s contract in the first place?

Unfortunately, boas need a big enclosure which is most likely really expensive to buy since it would need to maintain the proper humidity and temperature. Maybe Azul would invest in it, knowing in the long run, the snake will help convince fellow students to uphold their side of a contract.

Luckily for Jade, boas are pretty low maintenance, so cleaning after it wouldn’t be too difficult. Because let’s be honest, Jade would most likely be the one doing it…

Finally, we all know Floyd would find feeding time to be the most exciting part of the month (month-ish, since they need to be fed like once every 3 weeks). He’d insist on giving it live mice and insist on watching the whole thing.

If Jade had the pet rat (referencing the above prompt), he’d definitely steer clear of this big snake with his small fur baby.

AKB48 Thumbnail 2shot event 170604

At the start of June I went to Japan to participate in the 2shot events for AKB’s latest album Thumbnail. Here’s a little write up. If you want to hear about anything else I did (hint: it was all shopping) lmk and maybe I’ll write that up too.

Because I know I cannot get up in the mornings, I started my tickets from Block 2. I had 3 tickets for Sato Sumire, 3 for Muto Tomu, then 1 each for Kojima Mako, Goto Moe, Minegishi Minami, Okada Nana, Miyazaki Miho, Oya Shizuka, as well as 2 album signing tickets, that I planned to use with Tomu & Suu.

I am about to go into fangirl mode here.

Unlike HS, during 2shot you don’t get much time to talk, and for me every member spent that time calling me cute (lies) and my hair amazing (truth). (hidden myself in most of these pics cause i’m not cute and dont photo well lol especially next to idols)

Started the day with Kojimako~~ Had Mako and Tomu in 2nd block but I wanted a practice run before Tomu. She is so damn cute! Basically exactly what I was expecting (in a good way); super cute, cheerful, smiley and lovely. A fairly orthodox meeting.

Next was Tomu, the member competing with Suu for my oshimen spot lol. I know I wrote a post before about officially oshihenning to Tomu, but honestly the two are really neck-and-neck...

Compared to Kojimako, Tomu felt a little more... interested? Like asking me more questions and seeming to listen more to the answers, etc. I’m very shy and bad at speaking, so if the member starts the conversation going I am very grateful, and Tomu absolutely did.

I had Block 3 free (why?? did i do that??) and I headed out to the Cafe & Shop. Bought an AKB drink, which of course comes with a coaster, which of course attracts coaster collector/traders. The guy brave enough to approach me turned out to be a fellow Tomu oshi, and we spent 45~ mins discussing members/AKB in general/my plans in Japan etc. I was almost late for block 4 lol.

Block 4 and back to Tomu! In the queue, another fan came up to me, asking where I was from etc. The only people willing to come up and speak to me were Tomu fans lol. Tomu fans so nice and willing to speak English. Tomu did the whole ‘You’re back!’, ‘Yes, and I have more tickets!‘. Then of course my favourite Team K pose.

Then it was Moekyun! In my head Moe is still the baby draftie of Team K, but she is actually 16 and almost as tall as I am. If Tomu was impressed that I came for the UK, Moe was astounded lol.

Block 5, and back to Tomu again! This time wearing the Tomu shirt from last year, which she was pretty pleased with. 3rd time and I was finally able to tell Tomu she was my oshi. (whyyyy am i so shy why).

I had tickets for Miichan, but I went over to album signing instead, since getting my album signed by Suu was more important that meeting Mii. (sorry Miichan)

My Suu tickets were all for later so this was my first Suu meeting. It was basically a discussion about my hair again lol. (’Is it real? Is it dyed?’) lolol And so her signing message was ‘Megan-chan kawaii’ lolol

Then off to Miichan. Her queue was short but sooo slow moving, which is weird because it didn’t feel like people were getting really long meetings. Also, her queue was fuuuull of girls. About 60-80% female, far, far higher than anyone else. And they were all looping as well. Mii was... very cool and professional? Not bad or salty, but she kind of felt like she was going through the motions, quickly in, photo, out.

Block 6 was double Suu. Finally a chance to meet her. She was pretty surprised to see me again I think. But super happy. Out of everyone I met, Suu was the best. She felt the most genuine and the most interested. I felt like I could have another 20 tickets and still have fun with her. HOWEVER her staff were super fast. Not necessarily trying to push me out, but very efficient, I’d barely sat down before they were asking for a pose. I was using 2 tickets but still had basically the same length meeting. Should have looped!

Block 9 was also Tomu sign! So I’d been meeting Tomu at regular intervals over 6 hours, so it felt like I met her a lot. Compared to, say, using 4 tickets together in one block, I got more time with Tomu this was. I wonder if she would feel the same?

Block 7 and I pre-queued for Nacchan, since her line was super long. Nacchan felt the most kami. After meeting her, I completely understand her popularity and senbatsu rank. Her reaction to seeing me was ‘Angel! Angel!’ in English, which was the only time any of the members spoke English to me other than ‘thank you’ and ‘bye bye’. unfortunately the 2shot itself is pretty bad D:

Then 4th ticket with Suu. She was amazed I was back, then after greetings, peace sign pose, I was standing up to leave and she says something like ‘Thank you for coming. Everyone thinks you’re really pretty!” And whilst I’m digesting if the members are talking about me backstage?? (sempai noticed me??) she’s like, ‘Can I?’ and reaches out to stroke my hair/head. Then squeals/laughs as though I am a small animal (lol) and the staff usher me out. But like... You are not supposed to touch the idols at all unless you are doing heart pose... And yet I got a head pat??

I basically died on the spot. #1 2shot #1 meeting #1 girl, sorry Tomu, I regret oshihen-ing etc. Literally made the whole trip worth it. Did the members notice me?! Is Suu talking about me with others??

tl;dr if you are meeting idols dye ur hair & be fashionable i guess

Final block and I had tickets for Myao and Shiichan. I fucked up my Myao meeting by being super tired and not being able to understand the super fast & long JP Myao spoke to me. Really feel bad about that because not’s not Myao’s fault that I’m incompetent, and I feel like it dissappointed her, or maybe pissed her off. Not really how I wanted my first meeting with Myao that I’ve been a fan of for so long to go. Myao is way good at posing and this is possibly the best 2shot of the day tho. (not of me, obviously, i look like a shaved baboon as usual)

I ended up using my Shiichan ticket to go see Tano Yuka instead. idek why. For me there are Suu & Tomu tier 1, then Moe, Kojimako, Naachan tier 2, then like... everyone else. And so I just has a sudden urge to meet Tanochan.

She was kind of... intimidating. I come in and she’s like ‘Wah, sugoi.’ Then she gives me this really intense look up and down like she’s inspecting me. I felt like I was in high school talking to popular girls lol like wow I’m being judged here. Tano is super pretty in real life. I’m looking at this 2shot like, that’s not even what she looked like! The camera can’t capture her ~glow~!

So basically 10/10 day, do recommend. I received 0 salt all day, even though quite a few members I saw (Suu, Mako, Myao, Tano) have a rep for being salty if tired or you speak to them wrong, I had no such interaction. Definitely going to try and go back next year, if money allows it. Go see Suu etc.
