HUE/AM/I – HUE/I/AM is a minimalist furniture collection by the Brooklyn-based interior architect and designer, Kim Mupangilaï. As the Antwerp-born designer’s debut furniture collection, HUE/AM/I – HUE/I/AM is an exploration and rediscovery of Mupangilaï’s Belgian and Congolese cross-cultural identity.

Sunny mornings 🌤️ vs rainy afternoons ☔️
Taking a break at my local cafe, we’re moving next week so I’m trying to psych myself up for a cross-country UHaul trip. Lots of little things to do and I’ve been feeling overwhelmed even though I have no more med school stuff to do until graduation day.

productivity tips that are not talked about enough!
day blocking instead of time blocking is better if you’re working on multiple goals
if you’re working on multiple projects or you’re in school , work and also working on a side hustle or YouTube/social media career or any other goal/hobby I’ve found that dedicating one whole day to one of those is better than doing everything on the same day.
if I’m studying or engaging in any work I need time to get into the right mode. The quality of my work suffers if I spend only one hour doing something and then moving on to another task. Creative flow cannot be micro managed. If you get to the creative space where you want to film a video you probably still have a lot of inspiration and energy to film multiple videos but let’s say you decide you’re only going to film one video cause you have to spend the rest of the time studying you actually cut your creativity short cause what’s to say you’ll get into the same creative space tomorrow? the same goes for studying and work.
that’s why on the days that I have my corporate job I prefer to spend the rest of the day (when I get off work) tackling the hard tasks such as cleaning, cooking and making my apartment and space positive and clean for the next day so I can focus 100% on just writing and engaging in my hobbies.
minimize the risk of burnout
some days I have ample amount of energy and it feels like I’ll never stop cause working on my creative projects gives me more energy. But it’s important to still dial down and take breaks, eat good food and read a book or watch a movie cause if you overdo it you’ll get to the point where you lose interest in your creative work cause you overdid it.
if you’re like me and you get obsessed and hyper fixed with things and then you lose all interest that’s a good sign of burnout cause as much as we like to engage with our hyper fixations we don’t realize that it drains us even if we thing we’re having fun.
you need to have one day a week where you are allowed to REST and do whatever you want. wether that’s sleeping in or just being on your phone. for me personally since I’m on a dopamine detox I use that day to shower, fix my hair, do my nails, relax and clean the apartment cause that’s what relaxes me, cause I get to listen to an audio book while I do it. Especially if I plan to do something creative the day after I use the day before to tackle all of my need to do / boring tasks.
understand the importance of moving your body
I’m guilty of not getting enough exercise cause I fail to realize the benefits of going to the gym or just going for a walk. the benefit of fitness isn’t just that you get a better looking body but also that you get rid of a lot of trapped energy. lack of movement will lead to frustration and tiredness. moving the body gets rid of the icky energy and stress that accumulates throughout the day while meditation gets rid of mental stress.
