Bones au (Post s6 e22 -spoilers-)

After Vincent’s injury he can’t go home where he lives alone and can’t make in back to London. Jack and Angela, mostly Angela, offer their home. There was no way this would backfire.

Plot:

Vincent survives the gunshot would that plowed through his chest, but missed his heart. Brief coma and hospital stay as season six ends.

Michael Vincent was born while it was touch and go, nobody thought Vince would survive.

Despite the new baby Angela insists Vince stay with them while he recovers, since he’s still very weak and on a lot of medication.

Hodgins is hesitant but Vincent is his friend, so he agrees.

At one point he falls in the shower and Hodgins has to bust in and take him to the hospital. Vincent is mortified.

Vince has mild aphasia and it frustrates him. He knows the words he’s trying to say, but they get stuck in his head, or he’ll forget a fact he knew for a while. He worries he can’t be an anthropologist anymore, and though he’s still insanely smart, People don’t realize it as much with his speech issue.

Angela is determined to help him work through it, always ready to supply a word or patient while he tries to work it out.

He refuses to fall behind of his studies.

Notes:

Vince is terrified to touch Michael, but will calmly sit and talk to him. Michael is enamored with him and just sits there. Angela says he’s finally found someone who loves facts like he does.

He doesn’t have great use of his left arm and does everything with his right. Shattered his scapula and has a metal plate there now. Has to wear a sling.

He has nightmares often and will say things about not wanting to go, Angela always wakes him when she hears it.

One of the things that bothers me the most about Bones is how little they mention the children!! Like Christine comes up and shows up pretty often, but what about Michael Vincent! Or Hank! Or Daisy’s kid for heaven’s sake! Like when Hodgins ended up in the wheelchair I don’t remember them mentioning how it affects Michael Vincent at all, whilst going into how Hodgins is struggling and how it’s affecting Angela. What the heck, guys. You’re sorta talking about separating and not once do you bring up the fact that you HAVE A KID. What’s with that?

Jack practically raised you, your parents did love you very much but they were always working and that's just how it was.

Intentionally or not your parents missed the little things, like school concerts or marching season when you were in the band, Jack didn't miss one and always there chearing you on.

Your just as, if not smarter than Jack, and like your big brother you showed interest in becoming a Forensic Entomologist like him. You always looked up to him and wanted to be like him.

The only difference is your more interested in the animal/reptile aspect than the bugs like he is.

Your office/lab is full of lizards and turantulas, and you've named all of them.

Your terrified song snakes though, you hate them with a passion and jack of course knows it and tries to keep the ones he has in the Lab away from you. It doesn't work sometimes.

“Jack there's a snake in my office!” you shouted standing on your wheely chair. Jack came running in to get ride of it. “it's just a black snake, he's more scared of you than you are of him”

He didn't say that to tease you, he just genuinely trying to reassure you so you won't panic all the time. “I beg to differ”

Your the youngest on the team putting you about 20 years old when you and team first started to work together.

With that, Jack is very protective of you and makes sure your shown the same respect he and the team are.

People and other people of science might underestimate you, your young and have tattoos and have a more goofy personality. Jack and the jeffersonian team will always have your back if it comes to people disrespecting you and your always proving the snobby scientists wrong.

You always feel safe with your brother, even in the most dangerous situation. When you and him were buried in the car by the Gravedigger you had absolute faith you'd get out of there, no matter how scared you were.

“We're gonna be okay...i promised mom I'd always protect you” he said.

You both got out with your friends family's help. Angela and Lance were waiting for you both and relieved to have you safe.

Speaking of Angela, she just like a big sister to you. You are both close and you feel you can always go to her for help.

Angela's dad, Billy is also loves you and is like a father to you. While he was putting the fear of god and tattooing Jack, he was showing you how to play guitar.

Even if you and Angela are close, Seeley is your best friend. While he teases Jack and calls him 'bug boy' he genuinely love you like a sister and doesn't mess with you.

Jack wanted to give an over protective big brother talk to Lance when you started dating, but he couldn't. He liked Lance to much and trusted him.

“just don't hurt her”

He walked you down the aisle at yours and Lance's wedding.

Your always involved with his experiments and it drives Cam crazy. She loves you usually let's you get away with it.

Since Jack is 'king of the lab' your the 'Queen of the lab'.

He's literally the coolest uncle ever and your like a second mother to Michael-Vincent.

You've always got each other's backs, you were there when he got put in his wheelchair and helped him learn how to deal with it.

Sometimes people don't understand how you two can be so close and not find each other annoying.

Jack could never get mad at you and if he does it doesn't last long.

Sometimes his over protectiveness gets annoying, but you know he means well.

hot bitches make their own content so!! ive decided all the squinterns (including zack. this is pre-serial-killer zack.) live in a house together and its like a forensic anthropology content house. (i will be writing this ASAP.)

- clark is an unwilling participant at first, but grows to love it.

- sweets doesn't TECHNICALLY live there, but he stays over with daisy so much he practically does.

- they get into hijinks and shenanigans, most of which initiated by hodgins, but if brennan or cam tells them to stop they stop immediately.

- the house is paid for by brennan and hodgins, so hodgins stays over sometimes to hang out with zack and/or annoy wendell

- hodgins and angela live a few blocks away, and when they want to go out they just drop michael off at the Squintern House and take off.

- brennan spends a lot of her time there too, usually with booth.

- they have weekly movie nights-- every time it's brennan, zack, daisy, vincent, or arastoo's night to pick, the gang watches a cool documentary. if it's sweets's, cam's or angela's, they watch a romcom. if it's hodgins's or fisher's, they watch a horror. if it's wendell's or booth's, they watch an action/adventure movie.

- clark insists he doesn't care what they watch, but in his free time he watches romcoms with angela.

- it's a fucking mansion, so each squintern has their own office, but they generally end up dog piling in the living room, pouring over their research on different parts of the floor or coffee table.

- everyone adores zack, so if he ever gets overstimulsted they give him his soundproof headphones and weighted blanket and leave him alone. sometimes hodgins will climb under the weighted blanket with him and they'll watch reruns of their favorite show together, but usually zack sits himself in front of his microscope and focuses on the bones.

- they write papers individually, but sometimes collaborate on one big project and end up with a 50-page paper with 10+ authors.

- hodgins has his own room over the garage (zack's idea), but he never sleeps in it. if he isn't at his house with angela, he's sleeping on zack's floor.

- arastoo lives at cam's, technically, but the two of them spend most of their nights at the squintern house helping with research or playing video games with wendell and hodgins.

- vincent monopolizes the TV room when trivial pursuit or jeopardy is on, and all of the squinterns have a running bet on who can beat him at either of them. most people's money is on zack, but he has yet to beat vincent.

- vincent also fuels hodgins's conspiracy theories, which angela finds infinitely endearing. brennan doesnt quite understand why she indulges them, but she knows it makes her friends happy, so she doesnt question it too much.

- arastoo, cam and booth are the most 'normal' of the group, so they usually end up crammed on a beanbag together watching tv while the squinterns use the couch and floorspace for their various projects.

- booth and arastoo develop an unlikely friendship, which brennan discovers when she walks into her apartment after a long day at the jeffersonian to find arastoo and booth asleep on the couch after watching the game. she texts cam that arastoo's with booth at her apartment and goes to sleep, deciding it's not her problem. the two wake up the next day to a hangover and a bemused cam.

- cam, brennan, daisy, angela and sweets have frequent 'girls + sweets' nights, where they talk about their weeks over margaritas and stupid reality tv.

- brennan is absolutely fascinated by 'keeping up with the kardashians' so that's generally what they end up watching.

- the nights usually end with cam, angela and sweets on the couch, looking fondly at brennan and daisy as they discuss the anthropological implications of '90 day fiance' or 'jersey shore.'

- sometimes vincent will join, but when he does they switch out margaritas with shirley temples so he doesn't feel left out without alcohol.

- on 'girls + sweets + vincent' nights, they usually end up talking about the dumbest things they ever did while drunk. vincent is still moderately embarrassed about the whole 'making amends' fiasco, but the team reassures him that if peeing in a tadpole tank and wearing brennan's iguana as a hat were truly the worst things he had ever done while drunk, he has nothing to worry about.

- fisher gets a lot better once he moves into the house, and as a move-in gift the gang gets him a white noise machine and soundproof ear buds so he can listen to his ocean sounds while working.

- when he gets bad, he usually calls his actual therapist, but sometimes he'll show up at sweets's and daisy's room in the middle of the night and ask for help.

- the three of them usually end up sitting on the bed in their pajamas talking about life, which helps a bit. they also end up falling asleep in a pile on top of the covers, which angela finds adorable.

- sweets doesnt tell anyone about the anniversary of his parents' death, but booth knows, so he and brennan go to sweets's room with ice cream and soda and they watch romantic comedies until sweets feels better.

- booth never ever talks about his dad, but when sweets sees something's bothering him, he initiates a 'truth circle' and tells booth to say whatever is on his mind. booth thinks it's stupid, but indulges anyway.

- brennan is surprisingly better at talking about her childhood than booth is, and sometimes on a bad day sweets will take her out to lunch, and wait for her to talk. sometimes she does, sometimes she doesnt. he's okay with it either way, as long as she knows he's there for her.

- sweets and vincent jam out to music together, because they have the exact same taste.

- booth indulges in their dance breaks sometimes, too. he refuses to admit that he actually likes the music theyre playing, but sweets can sometimes hear 'lime in the coconut' playing faintly through booth's headphones.

- no one bothers clark when he's working, but when he's free, he spends most of his time gossiping with angela on the couch.

- clark asks cam for advice on nora all. the time.

- eventually nora and cam become friends and talk about him together. clark hates this.

- whenever zack's busy, hodgins hangs out with wendell, talking about whatever's on their mind.

- sometimes wendell, clark, and hodgins will have their own version of the 'girls night,' which they call 'game night.'

- they sit on wendell's floor and play board games while talking about girls. sometimes zack will join, but when he does it's only for the games.

- zack is weirdly good at board games, and crowns himself 'king of the house' after every win.

I know he was only in the show for one season, but dr goodman is one of my favorite characters and i think it would have been really cool if they brought him back like once or twice a season. him giving cam advice on how to deal with brennan, or giving Hodgins and Angela advice on Michael Vincent. he would be so proud of Tempe and her finding love and having a baby and getting her brother and father back.

Here are some more Bones fiber art headcanons because I am getting new knitting needles tomorrow :)

Again, this is purely self indulgent

Hodgins - Felting. This started out as a way for him to relieve stress and anger through repeatedly stabbing something, but he grew to really love it. He makes little bugs, and he puts them all around the house. Michael Vincent likes to name them.

Angela - Quilting. She has made a few quilts. The first quilt she made was one of those shirt quilts and she fell in love with the craft. She loves picking out the different fabrics, and she enjoys mixing colors, patterns, and textures. So far she has made a quilt for herself, Hodgins, Brennan, and she has made one with the help of Michael Vincent. He picked out the fabrics.

Daisy - Crochet. She picked this up after Lance died because she needed something to keep herself occupied when she was not working or watching her son. It made her very frustrated at first but as soon as it clicked, she fell in love. She only really makes stuffed animals, but she likes to experiment with articles of clothing.

Zack headcanons ??? Personally I headcanon him as an autistic gay man who is a huge nerd and actually loves little kids, and also he's dating hodgins thank you !! I love seeing how other people interpret him :) - person who named themselves zachary-uriah after him (whatever you are going through, I hope the pain eases soon)

zack !!! my boy !!! this takes place in a world where the whole gormagon arc did Not Happen

zack to Me is gay + aroaceflux + genderfluid (any pronouns) !!! they are in a queerplatonic relationship with hodgins (most people interpret their relationship as dating bc . they are quite physically affectionate in a way that is usually viewed 'romantically', but they are just . partners . in every sense of the word.)

he does really well with kids- he's always a little nervous before he meets them, but he has fun with them. he likes that they don't really care about social cues, and they like that he'll show them big science experiments that aren't dumbed down for them, and talks to them like they're smart . the team likes watching him with the kids- it's always so sweet !!! he was a go-to babysitting choice when christine and michael-vincent were babies .

he has a lot of strange hobbies he picked up because he was bored- he speaks 4+ languages, plays the saxophone and violin, knows how to knit, and can make really pretty beaded jewelry. his bookshelf is organized alphabetically by author, his music is organized alphabetically by title, and his clothes are organized by colour. she paints her nails . she has naturally curly hair, which is noticeable when it gets longer .

they are also the youngest of all 8 siblings, and by a significant amount. the sibling closest in age to him is six years older- he is very much so the baby of the family . the addy's are from the actual Middle Of Nowhere- like . very tiny town, everyone knows everyone. oddly enough, this worked for zack. she liked the routine of knowing exactly what would come next, and there was lots of nature to explore. his family didn't always understand them, but they were always supportive, and he loves going home to see them . the addy household always smells like hot chocolate and a wood fireplace, and zack has candles in those scents to light in their apartment whenever he misses home <3

So much bouncing in my head post s10 of Bones. Angst stuff under cut Bev don't look /srs you will cry

They REALLY fucking went hard on the casts feelings for Sweets. And you know what? My s/i wouldn't be left out from that.

When he hears the news his whole world just shatters. I don't know if he's near Hodgins at the time but if he isn't I think my s/i calmly says "oh. Okay." and goes back to work.

And he's fine. He's fine until Sweets shows back up in a body bag. And that's when my s/i just leaves. Hodgins goes after him but it's a nasty little fight. Hodgins goes to grab him and Wolfe flips out. Shoves him and says "don't you dare fucking touch me" and continues to say he can't be here anymore. He can't do this anymore.

He doesn't even care how hurt Hodgins looks. How worried. Hodgins still yells for Wolfe, begs him not to do anything stupid.

Wolfe shows up for the funeral. Barely. When they start to sing his song my s/i just bursts into tears all over again. A loud ugly sobbing as he turns away while they pour out Sweets' ashes. Someone comforts him, but I don't know who. No ones seen him cry like this.

Afterwards, he takes a long break from work. He tells Cam he needs bereavement leave or vacation, anything. Anything he has saved up. Of course, she lets him. She's worked with him for years. "It's no worry. Take all the time you need. You'll come back right?" and my s/i won't look at her but nods real slow.

He's gone for *a while*. Weeks at least. I think he's staying with Hodgins, Angela and Michael Vincent. Hodgins keeps waking up at night, hearing him cry in his sleep. And every night he comforts him till it stops, knowing it'll start back up in another hour or two.

When he comes back to work, Cam is only a little worried about how quickly he throws himself into work. But someone tells her to just let him. Keep him busy.

The first time Wolfe meets Aubrey it's... bad. Wolfe looks at him, and with a dead tone and cold eyes he just snarls out "YOU got my friend fucking killed. If it were up to me, you wouldn't be here. His recommendation or not. Watch your back." and Aubrey doesn't react much. Just nods and goes "I was told you're not super friendly first meeting. I'm taking you talking as a step in the right direction!"

The coldness stays, and at least once around others Wolfe lets it be known he thinks Aubrey is a shit replacement for Sweets. You won't ever get a new Sweets. Why has everyone just moved on?

It all comes full circle when Hodgins and Angela are discussing moving. Wolfe asks why they're leaving their friends, and he doesn't want to move, how will he see his friends? They can't just run away!! And Wolfe storms off when it isn't going how he needs it too.

He walks out of work and ends up back where they let Sweets go. He sits in the grass, and just screams before a whole new set of tears come out and he's begging to wake up. And thinking how no one should of let him go alone, he died cold, he wasn't held, this could've been stopped. And he's crying Sweets name, eyes closed knees hiked and hands in his buzzcut grabbing the slight growth.

The breeze is nice, it's warm and soft and the sun shines and for a brief moment while he cries for his friend, Wolfe swears he feels arms around him, and sees someone sit beside him and say "It's ok to cry Wolfe." and it sounds just like Sweets. And Wolfe looks up through his tears and it's a trick he knows it but he swears for a minute he saw Sweets beside him, a soft smile on his face and his eyes were still shining.

And as soon as he blinks, he's gone. He always was gone. And Wolfe just sobs again, coughing from how much he is. He stays in that spot till the sun starts to set. He's fully ready to stay there all night but he finally notices all the missed calls, the texts, and he remembers something Sweets told him. It feels so long ago. He should call everyone back.

But for just one last time, he calls Sweets' number to hear his voice. And then he sets his phone down, lays with his back against the grass and eyes to the sky and says "I'm really going to miss you Sweets. Listen to my voicemail okay? Send something back to let me know you're okay, okay? I just don't wanna worry."

Baby Bump (Bones s6 e22, spoilers)

Vincent found her in her office working on her program. He flitted around her door like a nervous hummingbird, stepping in and out of her doorway until she noticed and waved him in with an exasperated sigh.

He looked even more nervous then usual, and she hoped this wasn’t another confession.

“This is a weird question, and I’m sorry in advance, but could I?” Vince made a motion at her baby bump, now so close to bursting that every moment felt like a gamble. She stood slowly, placing a hand as if to steady her baby.

“Feel my bump?”

“Uh, yes? I’ve never actually felt a pregnant woman’s, ah, bump. If it’s too much I understand-“

“No Vincent.” She laughed, taking his hand that shook slightly and pressed it to her belly. He wasn’t some stranger like the ones on the bus who thought they had the right to try and touch her baby belly, this was Vincent. He was weird and sometimes annoying, but he was part of their family.

He looked awed, like he was part of something he didn’t understand the way he did the rest of the world. “Did you know that a newborn baby is born with around seventy reflexes?” He asked quietly, fingers gentle against the fabric of her shirt as if he could break them.

“I didn’t know that Vince, thank you.” At least it wasn’t a pregnancy fact that would make her fear the big day even more. She was sure he was full of those, but he kept his mouth blessedly shut.

When he did speak, it was so quiet she almost didn’t hear.

“I want to be a dad some day.” He whispered. “Not anytime soon, but eventually. Pass on my love of facts, ya know? It’s so scary, but so beautiful? Hodgins is a lucky man to have both of you.” She wondered if he was talking to her or her baby as he spoke with so much emotion it made her pregnancy addled brain want to hug him and cry, to tell him he’d be a great dad one day.

“Have you decided on a name?” He asked as he smiled up at her, nervously placing his other hand down and looking to her for guidance.

She smiled. “Can’t tell you yet, you’ll know with everyone else!” She ruffled his fluffy hair, something between maternal and platonic and maybe a little more as his cheeks turned pink.

“That- oh!” He jumped as the baby kicked, looking terrified and curious simultaneously. “Was that quickening? Did you know he can hear us?” He looked like an excited puppy as he gently prodded the stretched skin with careful precision.

He seemed to, nodding to himself and taking his hands back with a air of soft regret.

“Thank you Angela. And you, little one, can’t wait to meet you.” He smiled, and he stepped from her office to go work on the project he and Brennen had been busy with.

“Micheal Vincent.” She later whispered to an empty office as she held her baby in her arms, tiny and precious just like she knew he would be. “We named him Micheal Vincent.”

you're the only blog i know thats a fan of bones so i hope you dont mind me sending you this ask lol (spoilers for season 6+)

im watching bones for the first time and i just have to say.... the way hodgins and angela call their son "michael vincent" instead of just michael warms my heart 🥹 its such a sweet tribute, i just know vincent would be so honored. im glad its not just something they mentioned once when michael was born, but a lot of the time if they say their sons name they say "michael vincent" instead of just his first name 🥹🥹

“How was your appointment with the child psychologist this morning?”

Angela let out a laugh of surprise and disbelief. “She thinks Michael Vincent has ADHD.”

Brennan hummed consideringly. “Young boys are the most likely to be diagnosed with ADHD. Although,” her voice brightened as she warmed to the topic, “research is now suggesting occurrence of ADHD in girls has been under diagnosed, due to differing behavioural expectations for young females as compared to young males.” 

“Not really the point, sweetie.” 

“There’s no reason to be concerned, Angela.” Brennan looked slightly affronted at the interruption. 

Angela closed the email she’d been looking at. “I don’t think she’s right, anyway. She said it’s usually genetic, and Hodgins and I don’t have anyone in our families with ADHD.” 

“It’s possible that you do, and their symptoms simply weren’t recognised at the time.” Brennan came closer to the computer, leaving over Angela’s shoulder and re-opening the email Angela had just closed. 

Angela pushed her chair a bit further back to give Brennan more room, not really minding her best friend offering some insight even if it did involve invading her personal space. 

Brennan pointed to a line in the email. “See here?  This one could present as being unfocused and lacking commitment, constantly switching from idea to idea rather than settling on a single idea and pursuing it to completion. An example might be if I had starts writing several books, but not finished any, rather than having a series of successful novels.” Angela smiled slightly at Brennan’s completely unselfconscious reference of her own achievements. “Someone in your family may have taken it as a character failing rather than a symptom.” 

“My mom did that. She used to call it butterfly brain.” Angela’s wistful smile turned to a frown. “But everyone does that, it’s not a symptom of anything.” 

“I’ve never done that,” Brennan said bluntly. “Although the majority of people do not have a brain like mine, so we’d need someone with a brain more indicative of the general population.” She pulled out her phone. 

Angela watched her. “Who are you calling?” 

“Booth.”
