i cannot figure out a coherent way to write this but i'm currently obsessed with the thought of the gang having their own little prom type party where everybody there is with their queer crush. i think it would be started because of robin and eddie talking about how they never got to take their crushes to prom and steve is like say less and just bam surprise prom like a week later. it would make me so happy to see all the ships having some well deserved wholesome time. i also think that jonathan and argyle would show up thinking it was like a party party, just so ready to get absolutely blazed but would also be like oh prom? shit alright. and then just spend the whole time together that night making everyone unsure of whether they're actually a couple or just friends

here is what i have to say about the st characters and how they identify sexuality/pronouns wise (like if they HAD THE LANGUAGE FOR IT and LACKED INTERNALIZED HOMOPHOBIA OK let me live) (if u don’t like it feel free to argue with the wall)

steve: he/him bisexual (lemme fight for myself here,,, lots of people have said he/they bisexual and i see that, and i hear that, ok? i just think that however steve expresses his gender, whether it be fluid in any way or not, he would still use he/him pronouns. i hope this makes sense)

robin: she/they lesbian

nancy: she/her bisexual (im sorry to all the lesbian nancy truthers out there. i just think one would not be with Jonathan in ANY WAY if one was not at least a LITTLE bit into men. sorry again to my lesbian nancy truthers:// )

jonathan: he/him and somewhere on the ace spectrum (i won’t explain this you can argue with the wall)

Dustin: he/him straight (STRONG ally tho. ok , literally the strongest ally)

Mike: he/they bisexual (IF mike wasn’t such a piece of fucking work, and worked through his Whatever He Has Going On, i think he would understand the motivation to treat will like SHIT comes from a place of internalized homophobia and just Mike-ness. MOREOVER, the way the kid is obsessed w eddie and looks at eddie…. come on. also i think the way mike dresses and expresses himself on the gender spectrum would be interesting to examine like ‘oh maybe i don’t fully feel like he/him suits me’ and - yeah ,,, mike stinks)

Lucas: he/him straight (bi wife energy tho)

Will: he/him gay (duh)

Max: she/they bisexual

Eleven: she/her bisexual (im holding out for a sexuality crisis when el works through Everything She Has Going On, caused by the one and only max mayfield. Meleven over Mileven every time)

Billy: he/him gay (this man is GAY AND OBVIOUSLY struggling with some serious internalized Issues, which would make him probably resort to the hyper-masculine route and explains why he looks like he wants to devour steve whole)

Argyle: he/him straight (another strong ally sorta coming out of left field but a STRONG ALLY NONETHELESS)

Eddie: they/them queer (LET ME JUST SAY, i am a queer/gay eddie truther until i DIE. i think eddie is exclusively interested in people who identify on the masculine end of the gender spectrum, mostly men. if eddie had the language i FIRMLY believe eddie would identify as non-binary, and one can not be gay (in the mlm sense) if one does not identify as a man. MOREOVER, I think the way eddie expresses gender is rooted in a more fluid and punk/metal sense of fashion which is SIMILARLY rooted in fluidity of sexuality and gender (EVEN IF all the douches that like it nowadays are homophobic/transphobic and just the worst) (I don’t know if this makes sense but it makes sense TO ME)

Chrissy: she/her lesbian. (duh)

It all happened too quickly. All it took was one day, one diagnosis, to change your whole life. And it wasn’t much longer after that. Planning that funeral was something you didn’t think you would have to do for a long long time, especially not this funeral. The half sized coffin made the morbid truth even more tangible. He should have had more time.

One of the side effects of everything going on in your life has been you pushing away your friends. You had just graduated high school and started working as a waitress at the local diner, so while you had to play the part of bubbly food service worker, it was just enough of a veil to hide behind. You were just lucky that no one dared ask you about it.

Well, mostly.

Steve always knew when something was wrong with you. No matter what the problem, he could tell. Similar to how a dog knows when to curl up in a ball at its owners feet, Steve Harrington had an inkling for whenever he would need to deliver on a best friend pick-me-up. He had noticed something was off with you, but the historically and traditionally planned movie binge and card game sleepover had been postponed by—well— you being kidnapped by Russians. After that, when your brother’s results were back, you decided that you were going to spend the rest of his time with him.

You slip on your black ballet flats and adjust your headband in the mirror one last time before somberly making your way to the family car. The drive is characteristically quiet. It still feels surreal, more like you’re watching everything happen in a cult commentary on the brevity of life than you are really on your way to a seven year olds funeral. It takes everything you have to remain put together during the service and the wake. You have spent the last month being strong for Tyler, and now you just don’t have enough left.

It’s only you now. You and your parents haven’t spoken since Tyler’s passing, just cohabiting an empty home with only each other and despair. By the time you finally took yourself cry, you are sitting in front of Tyler’s grave. Well— what will be his grave. Right now it is just a pile of dirt covered in roses.

“I thought I would find you here,” you don’t even have to look up to know who it is. “I haven’t seen you eat all day, so i brought you this.”

You glance at the bag in Steve’s hands briefly as he sits down next to you.

“it happened too quickly.” you say. “how could no one notice that something was wrong with him before stage four? i feel so stupid.”

“hey hey hey,” he stops you. He sets down the bag and places a gentle hand on your shoulder. “you couldn’t have known. And it doesn’t make sense right now, I know. But it will be okay eventually and I wanna stay by your side until it is and after.”

“What are you saying, Steve?”

“I’m saying that I love you, (Y/N).”
