My younger cousin (16) finished s4 of tlok. Here is her final opinion of the characters
Korra: "3 B's: badass, beautiful, bisexual."
Asami: "SHE GOT HER HAPPY ENDING LETSGOOO"
Mako: "y'know what he really came around. I hope he makes that prince his wife"
Bolin: "ngl. I hated him more and more each season. I'm sorry Bolin nation."
Tenzin: "i have mad respect for him since season 3. Korra grew up a lot but i think somehow he did too"
Kya & Bumi: "what did they do all season?" Me: "ngl i forgot" Her: "unimportant. they're both gay"
Kuvira: "finally another female villain. a win for feminism." Me: "you said that last season about p'li too" Her: "i meant every word"
Bataar jr: "and an absolutely pathetic man behind the female villain. Truly a setback for the patriarchy, we love to see it"
Lin Beifong: "turns out she didn't have just daddy issues but mommy issues too. Double whammy."
Suyin Beifong: "that's mother"
Toph Beifong: "FUCK IT UP GRANNY"
Jinora: "still the best character of this whole series and i stand by that"
Kai: "WHERE WAS THIS ASSHOLE???"
Ikki & meelo: "my mom told me if i have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all." Me: "what abt the other characters you openly hate?" Her: "those weren't CHILDREN"
Prince Wu: "is it weird that i kinda liked him even if he was pathetic? The ultimate kuzco."
Varrick & Zhu Li: "well this came out of nowhere but good for them"
Opal: "*whispers* is it bad that i really don't like her?"

im definitely guilty of this myself but its kinda tragic how little content there is of bumi being an uncle when one of the first lines we ever hear about him is "YAAAY UNCLE BUMI'S HERE" and is rather just shippy or angsty about his parents and airbending.
we forget that in canon he's just some retired dude who came to live with his brother (who he doesnt have a close relationship with), so it was probably for the kids
give me bumi using some wild trick and experience with aang to impress meelo without airbending, give me bumi being a good uncle when he realises rohan isnt an airbender, bumi bringing books and relics for jinora from his travels, bumi staying up till 2am to talk to ikki because she can't sleep after she almost lost her bending and needs an adult who isnt her parent
bumi not treating bolin like he's stupid and teaching him the basics of boxing, bumi also bringing mako books and slyly nudging mako to go on dates, bumi making sure asami knows he's proud of her and that she is much more than her father's legacy
hes so loved by his nieces and nephews and its a shame we rarely see it in canon or fanon

Air Family Dinner Table Headcanons
Tenzin and Pema teaching their kids to try different foods and not just eat all the rice.
Tenzin casually placing a pinch of soybean sprouts on one of his kids' plates and nonchalantly pointing at it with his chopsticks. Them giving him a sour look and Tenzin pretending not to notice, continuing a convo with his wife.
Meelo and Ikki are picky eaters. Jinora will try anything her mother puts in front of her and usually likes it. Rohan is somewhere in between. He doesn't get fussy often, but when he does, he gets fussy. Some evenings, you have to be okay with the picky eaters eating just rice or you're going to bang your head against the table.
Pema's definitely into meal planning. It helps keep her sane. She knows everyone's favorite food, including Korra's and her friends', and she aims to incorporate them into at least one meal a week.
While Tenzin doesn't have the finesse and culinary prowess as Pema, he does know how to cook out of necessity. When Pema wants a break, Tenzin has a few simple meals up his sleeve from his travels with Aang.
With the temple running on donations, it's common for one dinner a week to be made from leftover donated meals. It's usually very underwhelming, but Tenzin likes to remind everyone that "we eat to nourish the body, not for entertainment."
Bonus: Sometimes the whole Air Family gets together and makes sweet buns for everyone at the temple.
