I hate how everyone blame mako for makorra being toxic but don’t hold Korra responsible for her role in it too. She accused him of conspiring behind her back, humiliated him in front of his coworkers, yelled at him, and flipped his desk over. Book 2 was a nightmare.
Tumblr media
Part 1/2 Asks
Listen, Book 2 is dead to me. When antis say Korra is unlikable in Book 2, I can’t defend her. Korra’s stress and insecurities are so subtle and downplayed, it’s hard to even feel sympathetic towards her. Combative characters don’t normally bother me, but Korra was too much, especially since Mako also had no clue what to do. Korra’s the one who had over a decade of training and had all the old wise teachers.
I only started tolerating their fights after catching one line that helped me understand how Korra spiraled into this raging bundle of blueness. She mentions being “locked up” and people telling her what’s best for her. So my headcanon is all those years in isolation with older men controlling every aspect of her life came to a head, and that took a major toll on her mental health.
Book 2 was a missed opportunity to explore the confusion, loneliness, and isolation that comes with being the Avatar. The fights with Mako could have been more bearable because they’d make more sense, with those issues being the heart of the problem. However, since we already got into most of that in ATLA, I guess Bryke wanted to focus on spirits, the spiritual world, and frankly speaking, breaking up Mako and Korra.
Tumblr media
So let’s get into Makorra Book 2, specifically before Mako’s lie, because I have more thoughts about that. Ngl, I’ve been dreading writing about this. I get so frustrated and sad because this could have been a beautiful story about a relationship's trials.
Korra is the one who made the relationship toxic. Trying to keep the peace by downplaying your own opinions and beliefs to avoid making your partner angry isn’t healthy. Walking on eggshells in a relationship is never a good sign, and it’s uncomfortable to watch.
I tend to think people who place all the blame on Mako just don’t like him. Mako was nearly perfect. And I’m not just saying that as a Mako stan. From the beginning, he has done nothing but try his best to support Korra. This is pretty much the pattern during the southern pole arc: Korra vents, Mako responds with what he thinks is supportive feedback. Korra accuses him of taking sides and then shuts the conversation down.  Mako is not the problem. At least while he’s in the southern pole. Korra’s responses are extreme, for starters, mostly because we as viewers are not given enough context to sympathize with her and see why she’s upset with Mako. Mako also listens to Korra’s responses in an effort to remedy the situation the next time there’s a disconnect. When Korra shuts down the first time after he offers his outside perspective, Mako changes his approach. The next time Korra vents, Mako responds by telling her he’ll support whatever decision she thinks is right instead of his opinion. Sure, there is a slight difference in the way Korra talks to Mako. The first time, Mako speaks without her asking for his advice on the matter, while the second time, she asks. Only Korra wanted him to voice his thoughts without her giving him the ok based on the dialogue: Korra: “Well?” Mako: “Well what?” Korra: “What do you think I should do?”
No wonder Mako is confused and eventually becomes frustrated. It’s also important to note that Mako doesn’t do anything wrong here unless we’re supposed to blame him for not being a mind reader. In fact, Mako takes it a step further and asks Korra how they should communicate to avoid fighting.
Mako: “Do you want advice, or am I supposed to just listen? Still not clear on that.”
Tumblr media
Korra apologizes, but she never answers him, which becomes a problem when they return to Republic City.
Antis love saying how Mako and Korra were so young when they dated and needed to mature first. I love Korra, but sorry she needed to stop suffering from the hands of Bryke, who just wanted the relationship to end mature. Mako’s approach was very satisfying to watch, and he handled the relationship in a way that would have led to something more healthy if extreme events didn’t occur.
Tumblr media
Korra was also mean, and Mako is not a punching bag. He wasn’t going to just let Korra insult him. Mako only becomes combative when Korra makes jabs at him. Mako was the one who either diffused the situation if Korra couldn’t walk away. Otherwise, he’d stick up for himself whenever Korra became sarcastic.
One of my favorite lines is Mako saying “I thought you wanted me to be supportive. Now you want to know what I think?!” I’ll admit he might have taken it too far when he told her to make up her mind (you were right Mako, but time and place 😬). That was how he got an air bison plushie shoved into his face. Korra was wrong for that, but I understand why she did it 😅.
Once they got back to Republic City, things became terrible even though Mako and Korra had made up, and I guess Bryke wanted them to go back to square1. Mako finally hit his breaking point and started yelling back. In his comebacks, he threw Korra starting a civil war and messing up the world in her face, something she already felt guilty for. However, these insults were always said in response to Korra demeaning him. You can argue he shouldn’t have fought fire with fire, but again, Mako was at his limit, and Korra was beyond hers.
The most ironic line in their fights is Korra telling Mako, “I can’t talk to you when you’re like this,” before storming out. I love it because this line really belongs to Mako! He’s the one who can’t talk to Korra and says so!
Even the breakup scene shows Mako starting out as the diplomatic one. His inner Tenzin came out. Korra, on the other hand, basically tried to intimidate him during the confrontation. She first leans over his desk and yells at him for answers. Mako remains seated, explains himself, and Korra doesn’t accept it. Instead, she then kicks his desk out of the way, so there’s nothing in between them. Idk stans, rewatching that scene makes me wonder Korra was actually looking to fight.
Mind you, Korra has every right to be angry. Her feelings are real. This fight was probably the only fight I was ok with because we got to the source of the problem. She felt betrayed by Mako. This was the only time her accusation about Mako choosing sides makes sense. Of course, Mako was put in an impossible situation, dealing with an angry Avatar or being tried for treason. He made the right decision. Korra would forgive him at some point, and no one goes to jail.
Also, I noticed that those who say Mako’s the toxic one conveniently forget he ended the relationship. I also don’t think that he would’ve if Korra didn’t say anything about him getting her way and alluding to choosing sides again. Look at his face:
Tumblr media
I’m probably getting into headcanon territory, but I think something broke here. Maybe his heart. For 5 episodes, Mako has been trying to convince Korra that he’s on her side. He wants to help her and support her, but she never believes him. He couldn’t take it anymore it more and honestly, Mako did the best thing for his own mental health. And Korra, after all that talk and gusto, jogs out, and runs away. It’s almost comedic. Siighhh, shipping Makorra, and watching Book 2 is torture!
Still, we have some really sweet moments of our favorite couple, like Mako asking Korra out to dinner 🥰. It’s moments like this that make rewatching Book 2 a little more bearable. Part of me cackles at the idea that Korra and Mako were so in love, it took a war to break them up. Safe to say wars can end any relationship.

Chapter 4 Reactions “Why do the dementors look like crusty labias?” -My sister upon witnessing a close up of the whispers.
Chapter 1-2 Reactions
Chapter 3 Reactions
I present to you my reactions to playing FF7R for the first time. I voice recorded myself as I played through each chapter. I finished the game and will slowly be writing down most of my commentary as I played. My sister, who has no prior exposure to the lore of FF7 (sequels, movies, novellas, etc.), watched me as well and I will be including her fresh perspective here as well. I also use the word “bitch” affectionately. I call my besties by that word so if you are easily offended, don’t read.
If you hate any other ship beside your own, don’t read this. In this particular reaction, my sister and I comment jokingly at the interactions between Jessie/Cloud and Cloud/Tifa. Our reactions and preferences aren’t an attempt at disregarding any other ships out there. They’re our opinions and will never be  determining factors on the validity of your personal ship. With that said, here are our reactions!
Ok, fuck, we’re going to have to sneak out and go topside with Jessie... (sis: He’s gonna fuck her.. me: He’s going topside of the plate! Not topside of her! sis: I know, I just wanna piss you off.)
*When Cloud says all SOLDIERS receive training to operate motorbikes* Sis: If he’s lying about being a SOLDIER, why are his eyes the color of mako if all SOLDIER bois have them? me: that’s why normal people have to finish the game to find out.
Sis: JESSIE IS A HELLA THOT, SHE’D BE YOUR BEST FRIEND. Me:... Why can I totally picture that?
*Cloud tells Jessie to get off after Jessie begins narrating themselves as a couple* Sis: Do guys believe girls think this attitude is cool? Yuck.
Jessie isn’t deterred by Cloud’s foul attitude at all. You go, bitch!
*When Roche appears* Sis: uhhh... why is adult Demyx in this game? me: He doesn’t look--oh. HAHA
Cloud is so badass.
Sis: WTF IS THIS PLACE SO NICE FOR? PEOPLE BE UP HERE LIVING COMFORTABLE WHILE PEOPLE DOWN BELOW DON’T EVEN HAVE PAVED ROADS, HOW DO THESE RICH BITCHES SLEEP AT NIGHT KNOWING THERE’S CHILDREN LIVING IN SHIT CONDITIONS RIGHT UNDER THEIR FEET?!?!?!!! ME: Tricia, relax. It’s just a game. Sis: Sorry, the social worker side of me is coming out.
The music is sooo pretty. I need to learn this on guitar.
Her house is so fucking cute.
You know what? Cloud’s kinda like a cat. Cute, but can be total bitches.
Does Jessie’s mom approve of Biggs for Jessie...? (Sis: I approve of Biggs for anybody. He should be the main character. Cloud’s “tew kewl for yew” attitude is a turn off. He’s hot though, so...)
I know I have to sneak into the room, but I wanna hear more of their conversation! (Sis: No time to fuck around, bitch. Get what you need and leave, here, let me do it. Me: No, no, you can play the whole game on your own when I’m done.)
Oh shit, Jessie has a very sweet side to her. I love this bitch.
She’s doing this cause all bc of her dad. Man, Jessie’s so special.
Cloud, Biggs, & Wedge are bros.
*gasp* IS THIS THE PROMISE SCENE? (Sis: Tifa’s so cute! Cloud’s got a lame rat tail, ew. At least he isn’t too much of a dick.)
Why are they showing so much cloti content every chapter??? (Sis: bc obviously he’s been crushing on her since they were lil churrens)
Sis: Cloud looks like he get emotional and teary eyed every time he thinks of Tifa. Like his eyes change in size and...kinda change in color. Like.. them bitches starting to look blue. Me: *gasps* I kinda see it. Definitely his eyes get bigger... Sis: He’s such a typical haole, blonde hair, blue eyes, he got the baby red flush on his face too, soooooo cute! me: You were literally shitting on him a few minutes ago, what changed?
Sis: You’re like one hit KO-ing everyone. Did you fucking over level yourself again? Me: I...think I did. Sis: This is why you need to learn restraint.
*Wedge gets bit* Sis: Wedge is the MVP bruh
Sis: You have to fight adult Demyx again? Me: Clearly his name is Roche. His name is right there.
Holy shit, Wedge really is fucking MVP
Sis: Who are the hazmat suit lookin’ bitches? Me: The rest of AVALANCHE. Sis: There’s more of them??? Me: Did you really think all of AVALANCHE was just Jessie, Biggs, Wedge, Barret and Tifa?
If you don’t let your friends look at your singed ass, you’re not truly friends.
Cloud is chuckling! Sis: Feel, don’t conceal, bitch! LET IT GO~
Sis: Is grandma over there hitting the guard?
*Cloud mentions Jessie’s dad* Sis: Wow, did Cloud fucking just--fuck you Cloud, breaking bro code. Snitches get stitches.
Did they have Jessie strapped up with Biggs so that Cloud won’t talk to her about her dad during the parachute dive? LOOOOL
Biggs wrapping his hands around her waist, bruh.
Holy shit Jessie is giving me anxiety.
Biggs’ face nearly collided with Cloud’s I’m dying.
“pay you in full” Sis: they’re def gonna fuck tonight. Ohh my gosh, but what if she tells Tifa?
Sis: yeah Cloud, why you gotta be such a hardass?
Wedge’s smile is so precious, we need to protect him.
Sis: We’re on our way to fuck bitches~
Oh my gosh, Biggs is a sensitive guy secretly. So cute!
“Life’s a stage and love’s a play.” Wedge, who hurt you? Was it Jessie? Let me go talk to her for you.
Wedge is a cat mom? Maybe that’s why Wedge is so attached to Cloud. Bc Cloud is a grumpy cat lol.
OH SHIT. Did she just plant one on his cheek?
Sis: She wants his dick. She’s thirsty. Me: Wedge warned us about her. She’s just playing a game! Sis: Then ditch the bitch. Me: When you say bitch, it sounds mean! I don’t want to be mean to her, but I don’t want to give her hope. Decent guys don’t lead bitches on. Sis: You were trying to get into Tifa’s room at the start of the last chapter, you freak. Decent, my ass.
I’m sorry, Jessie, I love you, bitch, but...not happening. Sis: She’s so unfazed by it! See? She’s peachy beachy. She probably has other options. Now let’s see if Biggs is home! Me: I need to see what the other option would lead to.
*We paused the game and watched the no promises option* She legit pretended to be excited about making pizza for us and she changes up on us like that with her “psyche!” bull shit, oh my goshhhh, she’s playing the game! Sis: Love’s a play, life’s the stage.
Sis: Biggs is a neat freak AND handsome AND sensitive? Throw Cloud tf away. Make Biggs the main character.
Do people just not lock their doors in this hood? Sis: If you don’t have valuable shit, there’s nothing to steal.
Tifa is in Cloud’s room! Sis: Stop trying to get them to fuck. Tifa’s not gonna let them fuck until they’re official official. She’s too classy for that.
He’s trying to get her to open up! He wants to spend more time with her! Ugh, He’s trying so hard to be aloof and caring at the same time!
Sis: She won’t share all her secrets. She has a fucking punching bag in her room, she’s strong enough to handle her issues without leaning on no fuckboi. See, look she’s changing the subject. She won’t even sit directly next to him. Cloud scares the bitch, why would she wanna get close to him after he tried to kill Jeffrey. Me: Johnny. Are you sure you haven’t played FF7 before? Sis: If I did, I wouldn’t be asking 21 fucking questions every 10 minutes.
Sis: *sarcastic* Wow, I love how he quietly says good night to her right before she shuts the door, like he can’t fucking say it to her face properly. He’s a coward! Me: Everyone is shitting on Cloud! Sis: He’s frustrating! Me: He’s traumatized! Sis: From what...? me: *realizing I may have spoiled the story for her* let’s play and find out, shall we? Sis: Woooow...
*confused bc this wasn’t in the original* Whaaaat is going on? Sis: Why do the dementors look like crusty labias? Me: Can we fucking play this game in peace?
Sis: Holy shit, a hoard of labia dementors!
This is fucking weird. I need to use Tifa to stagger these bitches.
THEY STOLE OUR GODDESS, FUCK NO. Sis: They ain’t do shit on her. She’s strong af, look at how little damage they’re doing to her.
HOLY SHIT JESSIE NO. Sis: damn, maybe if he fucked her, this wouldn’t have happened. me: you’re joking right? sis: obviously. but then, why are you laughing at my joke, huuuh?
Cloud is still tryna be cool, carrying Jessie bridal style. Like um, Barret and Tifa could have easily carried her bridal style into the bar themselves. Stop stealing the show all the time.
You think Tifa’s a little jealous? sis: no, only insecure girls would think that. Jessie can’t walk and Cloud was only trying to help. Barret would probably throw her over his shoulder if he tried to help her up and that’d probably fuck up her leg more. He has a fucking gun for an arm, tf is he gonna do to help? Cloud’s just being a decent guy. A decent guy who won’t try to go into their crush’s room at night without being invited, weirdo. Me: *I’m speechless, but grinning*...
Sis: See? He can tell Tifa’s nervous. I honestly couldn’t tell at all. And he’s telling her to breathe. Jessie was clearly in distress. Tifa was too, but we couldn’t tell cuz a bitch is strong. Cloud pays attention to her too, why’d she be jealous for? You’re the insecure bitch, LOOOL, just kidding. Me: Woooow, you make a good point, but you had to use me to get there? You biiiitch!
Barret said the line! ohhh my goshhhh, my heart.
sis: “play it cool” he says, when he’s standing fucking over 6 feet tall, buff as fuck with a gun arm, Cloud with a bigass sword, and Tifa looking fly as fuck. They stick out from the rest of these normies, talk about obvious.
This concludes our reactions for chapter 4!
Just a little context, my sister is studying in social work and aims to be a social worker in a few years while currently working in an office for her college that handles campus recycling, promoting eco-friendly alternatives and hosting events that promote the reduction of waste. She loves that the story is about people trying to rescue the planet and plans on playing this game herself! We are very close and don’t mind being a little mean to each other! It’s all in good fun. The whole insecure commentary my sister made was due to my personal issues I had experienced in a long time relationship I had where I caught my boyfriend of 5 years cheating on me with one of my closest friends. I bare no ill will, however, that experience left me with an aversion to dating seriously. I recognize that this incident left me with insecurity issues and always found my self questioning the sincerity of people’s actions. My sister claims that Cloud was just being a decent person helping Jessie, while I saw it as something worth being jealous over. Having my sister watch along and reacting with me is helping me view this story from an objective, unbiased perspective where it isn’t tainted by my own experiences. It’s really interesting and refreshing and an eye opening experience. I’d love to read up on any other gameplay reaction as well, so send them my way!

Melissa’s Story
“END OF SHIFT.” her armband said, causing Melissa to quietly sigh in relief and step away from the belt.
'Finally. These 12 hour days are a killer, but, it's better than the alternative...'
With tools in hand, she started following everyone else off the floor, only stopping when they reached the Overseer, a giant brute of an Orc, to drop off their tools for the day. When it was her turn, Melissa quickly and cleanly placed her tools into the appropriate bin. Once she got the affirmative nod and grunt from the Orc, she then continued off the floor and out of the building, passing the next shift as she did so.
As she looked around the dirty and deserted streets, Melissa thought, 'They moved me real deep into the City this time, can't even see the sky from here. Unsurprising, seeing as this is the second time this year they've had to do it. Of course, free of crime, but, also, dirty as hell. Why wouldn't it be? Only Humans and their Orc Overseers down here. I don't even understand why I'm here, I've been the perfect little loyal drone for the past 14 years.'
She laughed hollowly as she continued her walk.
‘I guess there really IS nothing to do down here’ she thought, after having walked around for a while.
‘Now, how do I get…’
BZZT!
“OW! What the?!”
She looked down at her right arm, at the armband that was, and always would be, there, and had, for the first time ever, just shocked her.
“MLSA000235, YOU ARE LATE TO YOUR NEXT DESIGNATED LOCATION. IF YOU DO NOT MAKE YOUR WAY THERE NOW, YOU WILL BE PUNISHED. DO YOU NEED DIRECTIONS?”
Melissa looked at the thing in absolute shock for a few seconds.
‘Of course there’s a Curfew, don’t want there little Drones getting lost, do they?’
She laughed hollowly again.
“Yes, Armband. I am totally lost, please guide this lowly Drone to her new storage space.” She said, sarcastically.
“ONE MOMENT...”
Melissa looked at the armband in shock as the voice changed, becoming more human sounding.
“Ok, go straight ahead to the next intersection, and then…”
After a few seconds of surprise, Melissa shrugged her shoulders, and started following the directions.
________________________________________________
Sometime later, she arrived outside her destination.
‘Definitely human construction, this entire area must be from before the war.’ Melissa thought as she looked at the 5 story red brick building in front of her. ‘They’ve probably only done upkeep maintenance and replaced the windows with unbreakable glass.’
She looked up at the metal plated sky above her. ‘You bastards just built right over the original city, huh? Crafty, Elves, real crafty. But you’re still bastards.’ She then walked up the steps and opened the door into the building.
As she entered the building, she spotted an older woman standing in the Entrance Hall, apparently waiting for her. The woman looked like a Grandmother, she had grey hair, wrinkles on her face, and, surprisingly, a bright smile when she noticed Melissa.
'She must have been alive since before the War, how could she be so happy?' Melissa thought in shock before the woman began to speak, bringing her out of it.
“You must be the new Resident, Melissa, correct?”
Melissa immediately stood ramrod straight, and saluted.
“Melissa Drone reporting for duty as required, Ma’am!” she smirked slightly as she did this.
The woman, showing no reaction to Melissa’s act at all, just continued.
“Good,” the woman pointed to a door over her left shoulder, “Your room is down that hall, third door on the right. There is a bathroom shared between you and your neighbor. The showers are at the end of the hall. Dinner is in two hours, in the shared dining room just behind me, with lights out an hour later. See you at Dinner.” She then walked through the door directly behind her.
Melissa dropped her act, and shook her head. ‘Wow, either she is a real good actor, or there is something seriously wrong with that woman. That act has NEVER failed to get some sort of response, good or bad.’
She then took some time to look around the hall she was in.
‘This room is huge, could probably contain a good 10-15 people in it. Even has windows looking out on the street. Reminds me of my parents place before…’
She roughly shook her head, viciously suppressing those thoughts, ‘No time for that, Melissa’, then looked up at the ceiling.
“Bastards” she muttered, before looking back down. She then headed through the door the old woman had indicated earlier, and down the hall on the other side, stopping at the designated door, and opening it.
The room she saw in front of her was about 8 feet long from where Melissa was standing to the back wall, and 4 feet left to right. The door she was standing in was tucked in the right corner, with the dresser up against the right wall, close to the back wall. To her left, the single bed was pushed against the left wall, stuck into the corner. Behind the bed was another door, which she assumed led into the shared bathroom. ‘It really IS just a storage space.’ She thought as she stepped into her new room.
She stepped into the bathroom and did her business. After washing her face and drying it, she stopped, still holding the towel, to look at herself in the mirror for a moment. Looking back at her was a woman of about 30, with pale skin, a light dusting of freckles across her nose and cheeks, green eyes, and brown hair pulled back into a ponytail.
“What are we going to do, Melissa? Stuck down here, everything we worked hard for over the past 16 years, lost, to two different moves, and for what reason? Why are we being punished this way? No fucking clue, of course. A lowly human slave, no matter how loyal, doesn’t need to know what goes through Elven minds, after all.” She scowled at the mirror, then threw the towel down before pacing back and forth in the small bathroom for a bit, still steaming.
Eventually, she gave it up and walked back into her room, where she stripped off her grey jumpsuit, and then collapsed into her bed. ‘Might as well take a quick nap, the damn armband will probably wake me up when dinner is ready anyway, whether I want it to or not.’ She then rolled over and went to sleep.
________________________________________________
5-year-old Melissa was herded off the bus along with the other kids by a Orc, who lead them to the field in the center of town, stopping them in front of a stage that had been placed there. Melissa noticed that one of the Elves who had taken her from her parents was up on the stage.
‘Am I finally going to see Mommy and Daddy again? The Orc man said I would, but he laughed when he said it too, why?’ She started eagerly looking around the crowd, trying to find them, when the Elf started talking.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, we are here today so that you may learn what happens to those who become Enemies of the new State.”
As he said this, Melissa noticed a group of people up on the stage, including her mommy and daddy.
“Mommy, Daddy! Over here!” She started waving excitedly towards her parents, but when they noticed her, instead of being happy, her Mommy started to cry, and her Daddy started to yell, saying something about how kids should not be here or something. Melissa was very confused.
At that moment, she noticed that the Elf did something with his hand, which caused the Orcs holding her Mommy and Daddy and the others to force them onto their knees. They then withdrew big swords from their backs, and, as her Daddy shouted for her not to look, chopped there heads off, and then let go of the bodies, causing them to slump forward, and the heads to roll across the stage.
“NO! MOMMY, DADDY!” She started to scream, along with the other kids, as the Orcs forced them back onto the bus and to the place they came from.
________________________________________________
Melissa snapped up in bed. 'Damn it, that nightmare again? I haven't had it in years, why now?'
She fell back onto her bed, and raised her hand to her head as she looked at the ceiling. 'It's this damn place, it has to be. First time I have been in a Human built building since the Orphanage.'
She sighed audibly, slowly letting her eyes close again, 'Wonder if I can get some more sleep before...'
‘KNOCK! KNOCK!’
'Guess not.'
“HEY, New Girl, Wake Up, almost dinner time!”
Melissa rolled over and moaned, opening her eyes back up.
“Better get up soon, or the Armbands going to…”
BZZT!
“OW!”
“MLSA000235, TIME TO GET UP. DINNER WILL BE SERVED SOON. GET UP AND TO THE DINING HALL IN THE NEXT FEW MINUTES OR FACE PUNISHMENT.”
“...do that.” The voice on the other side of the door said.
Melissa grumbled and slowly climbed out of bed.
“I’m up you damn thing, I’m up,” she grumbled at the armband. “And I’ll be there in a minute.” to the person on the other side of the door, a bit less grumbily then she did to the armband.
Melissa quickly got her jumpsuit back on and hair fixed, then opened her door.
“Hey, thanks for trying to get...me...up...before…” Melissa froze and stared at the woman in front of her.
Standing on the other side of the door was the most interesting woman Melissa had ever laid her eyes on. The woman in front of her had extremely short cropped dark brown hair, dark brown, almond shaped eyes, and an olive cast to her skin. She also had a piercing in her right nostril and the right side of her lower lip. She was wearing a light blue sleeveless top from some band Melissa did not recognize, black leather pants and black socks. She also had an armband, just like Melissa's, on her right arm.
‘Oh, wow, she’s beautiful!’ Melissa thought, causing herself to blush.
The woman smirked at Melissa. “No problem,” She reached her hand out towards her, “Names Mako, what’s yours?”
Melissa viciously pushed down the blush and gathered herself before smiling, then shook Mako’s hand. “Name’s Melissa, nice to meet you. What got you stuck with this duty?”
‘Real Smooth, Melissa, Real Smooth.’
Mako continued to smirk as she pointed to the door down the hall to Melissa’s left, “I’m your new Neighbor.”
“Ah, well, once again, Thank you.” Melissa said as she more fully walked out of her room, closing the door behind her.
“And once again, it is no problem.” Mako looked around, then leaned in towards Melissa and whispered, “Especially when I get to meet a cutie like you.” causing Melissa’s blush to return full blast.
Melissa, trying to reign in her blush, looked up at Mako and said, “Well, then, shall we get to the dining hall? Don’t want to disappoint our Masters and get punished, do we?”
Mako smiled, “No, we don’t”, then firmly grabbed Melissa’s hand with her own, and then looked at her with a slightly nervous smile. Melissa just nodded with a slight smile of her own. They then headed to the Entrance Hall and Dining room, with Mako leading the way.
________________________________________________
As Mako lead her into the Dining Hall, and towards the table, Melissa took a moment to look around the room.
The room consisted of one long table with benches on either side. Sitting at the table were about 24 people. In the middle of the table was a variety of food stuffs.
“Move over, Jason. Got the new girl with me.” Mako said to a blond hair man as she lead Melissa over to the bench seating at the table.
As she sat down with Mako on her right and ‘Jason’ on her left, Melissa turned to him and introduced herself. After a round of introductions, she noticed someone was missing.
“Where’s the woman who greeted me when I first arrived?”
“You mean the Matron? She doesn’t sit with us for meals, seems to think she is to good for us.” Jason said.
Mako shook her head, “Wouldn’t surprise me if there is some order she is under, to make sure we don’t get to comfortable with her. She is very standoffish after all, would not be surprised if that is the reason why.”
Another woman, further down the table, shook her head, “I still say she is under mind control of some sort from the Elves. She was part of a resistance cell, you know.”
Melissa noticed everyone else around the table sigh and shake their heads.
“You’re the only one who believes that, Amy, including about the Mind Control.” One person shouted, while practically everyone else around the table nodded their heads in agreement.
“Well, it’s true.” The woman, Amy, retorted.
“If they could do that, why wouldn’t they do it to all of us? It would make there lives a lot simpler.” Jason said.
“That’s simple, because there are too many of us, and it takes too much work. They only do it to Human Criminals and/or Slaves who are in positions they don’t fully trust them in, of course. I bet that is what happens to a lot of those who need to be moved more than twice in a year.”
At this point, Melissa jumped in, “I thought all those who needed to be moved more than twice ended up in R&D somewhere as a lab rat?”
Everyone around the room nodded their heads as Amy said, “That is the commonly held belief, yes, but personally I am not sure it is quite that cut and dry. But, who knows.” She shrugged and returned to her food.
‘I’d rather die than take that chance. But, if I keep my head down, I should not have to worry about it. I haven’t done anything wrong, after all.’ Melissa looked over and smiled briefly at Mako, who returned the smile. ‘And hey, it’s starting to look like it might not be so bad down here…’

After lights out, Melissa stumbled into her room through the bathroom door. Her hair, which had come out of it's ponytail at some point, was mussed up, and her jumpsuit was partially unzipped and hanging off her left shoulder.
As she stumbled towards her bed, Melissa removed her jumpsuit the rest of the way, and then fell on her bed. As she laid in bed, she raised her hand to her lips with a small smile on her face. For the first time in a long while, she fell asleep feeling content with her life.
'Things really are looking up. Thanks to her, maybe it won't be so bad down here after all...'

As Melissa finished zipping up her jumpsuit and putting her hair into it's customary ponytail, she heard a knock at the door.
“Who is it?” She asked, with a bit of worry in her voice. That worry only increased when the old woman from before, the Matron of the House, poked her head in.
“There are two men here to talk to you dear, they are waiting for you in the Entrance Hall.”
'Could something have happened at the factory? Mako did mention that there was a very angry 16-year-old Resident who worked at the same factory, but I haven't seen anyone come in since I got up this morning...'
Melissa took a deep breath, trying to control her nerves, and nodded, “Ok, I'm coming now.”
She followed the Matron out into the hall, and her fear spiked the instant she saw the two 'Men' standing there.
'Shit, it's Orcs, that could only mean...No, Melissa, calm down, you just got here. Something must have happened that they need your help with, maybe related to the missing resident? Besides, they are not dressed like Movers would be.'
And she was right about that. Unlike the Movers, who would be in jumpsuits with a patch on the front indicating they are from HMS, these two wore full suits and ties, and sunglasses. Beyond the clothing difference, they looked like any other Orcs, though. Big, Green, Ugly things with two extremely long teeth, one on each side, coming out of there mouth.
“This her?” The one on the right asked the Matron, while pointing at Melissa. The Matron nodded, keeping quiet.
“Good, your dismissed.” He said, causing the Matron to curtsy to the Orc, then quickly turn and head out of the room.
The Orc turned towards Melissa, who was starting to worry even more. 'Why would they send her out of the room like that, and why did she respond with no apparent reaction at all, what's going on here?'
“Miss, we are here to inform you that your Factory has been shut down. Since this is your second job transfer in the past year, we are here to...”
Melissa started freaking out, 'Shit, like I thought, they're here to turn me into a lab rat. Fuck that, I would rather die. I need to get out of here...'
The Orc on the right, noticing Melissa had started to freak out, raised his hands in a placating manner and said, “Miss, please calm down, there is nothing to worry about. We are just here to...”
Melissa was not even listening anymore, 'I need to make a run for it, but the only way out is past them and through the door. If I get to the wall on the left, I should be able to slip past. These guys can't be that fast, can they?'
So, she attempted to get around the Orc on the left. But, just as it seemed she was about to succeed, he moved with surprising speed, wrapping one arm around her torso, and the other over her mouth, keeping her from speaking or screaming.
As she struggled fruitlessly to escape his grasp, the other Orc stepped right in front of her, holding a needle of some sort. As the Orc bent towards her with the needle in hand, he stopped for a moment and looked up at her. When she saw his face, Melissa was shocked to realize that he actually looked disappointed in her!
'What the heck, why would an Orc look disappointed about what a Human would do? We are nothing better than Slaves to them, after all...'
Her thoughts were interrupted by the Orc beginning to speak. “By attempting to run like that, you have taken your fate completely out of our Bosses hands, you know? Now the Elves get to have you...”
'Wait, What?! What did he mean by...'
At this point, her thoughts were interrupted by a pinch to her skin, and then darkness.

“Time to wake up, Dear.” A female voice said, rudely yanking Melissa out of her unconscious state, and back into the waking world.
Melissa slowly shook her head and looked around, her hair briefly entering her vision as she did so.
‘This place is weird, looks like the back of an old restaurant or something, and what's up with my hair?’
Just as she was about to raise her hand to grab some of her hair to get a better look at it, she spotted her reflection in the mirror. Looking back at her was not what she expected; she appeared a good 5 years younger then before, wearing a forest green dress with a skirt just barely long enough to cover her and her hair was up in pigtails, held in place with red bows.
'What the hell?! I'm not wearing this!' she thought.
Just as she was about to reach up to tear the dress off, she was distracted by the voice from before.
“Ready to start work, Dear?”
At the end of that sentence, her head snapped forward, and her arms, instead of continuing there path to the top of the dress, grabbed either side of the skirt she was wearing, and she curtsied.
“Yes ma'am, I am ready to serve!” Her voice said, far happier then she had ever sounded, and with a slight giggle.
‘What the hell? I did not just say or do any of that! What is going on, Why can’t I control myself?!’ Melissa screamed in her own head as her body walked out of the room and onto the main floor of what she came to realize was an Elven pub.
Melissa would quickly come to learn that this was her life now. For attempting to run away, her punishment was to be trapped in her own mind, while her voice and body would be used to serve food and drinks in an Elven pub.
