1- Will Graham - Hannibal (NBC)

I could write dozens of pages about Will and it still wouldn't be enough to tell you how deeply connected I feel to him. Will's development throughout the series reminds me of my own, sometimes metaphorically, sometimes literally. 

2- Loki - Marvel

It's hard to choose between Loki and Bucky, but I’m going with the God of Mischief. On a personal level, I really connect better with Bucky, but there's something about Loki that keeps capturing my attention. Maybe it's just his mischievous behavior.

3- Abel Nightroad - Trinity Blood

I met Abel through the novel, long before the anime. Trinity Blood is completely a work of art. I often don't identify with the main characters, but there's something about Abel's compassion and how he came to be like that, a spiritual evolution, that I love about him. (Considering the novel and not the anime, my answer would be Lilith Sahl instead) 

4- Envy - Fullmetal Alchemist

Especially the first anime version. 

I never got over Envy’s story and everything implied on that. I used to cosplay this character for around five years and kept writing with him for more than ten - I still feel inclined to write with him, levels of complexity behind his “being evil because I can, shouldn’t I?”

5 - Undertaker - Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler

I always liked him, but the further the story progressed, the more he surprised me. No spoilers, but I can't wait to see where he might go. Dark and with a twisted sense of humor, suspicious methods and goals that remain in the shadows despite the clues, nothing is obvious about him. 

6 - Death - Sandman 

Her charisma and the natural way in which the cycle of life and death is portrayed through this character make her unique, she does not feel happy or sad about the nature of this cycle, unlike other portrayals of "death", where this position is treated as a burden or a treat. 

7- Xue Yang - MDZS/The Untamed

Trauma. That's what screamed in my head all the while reading/watching Xue Yang. I overanalyzed this character over and over again, the details of his cruel behavior, the reverse and obverse relationship with Xiao Xingchen, the difficulty in understanding his own emotions. If you read him superficially, he's a villain, but if you read him underneath the layers, he's a victim. 

(But I tend to answer Nie Huaisang, by identification - might post about this soon) 

8 - Armand - Vampire Chronicles

It's hard to choose one among so many fascinating characters in Anne Rice's writing. But Armand and his artistic background has a place as beliefs and self-view have been torn from him time and again, and yet he has rebuilt, ressignified and maintained himself even without solid ground.

9 - Shaka Virgo - Saint Seiya

My first fandom EVER.

It's not because he's powerful, it's because he's spiritually powerful, with a unique insight and understanding above ordinary things. His ascetic life is a very interesting portrayal of Indian asceticism in a fantasy work. 

10 - Shiva - (Shiva Trilogy - Amish Tripathi)

As a Sanatani individual, the way the Amish portrayed Shiva beyond myth, beyond the divine and so completely human is far more appealing than the Western view of the "kind protagonist." Yes, he is kind, selfless and determined, sometimes stubborn and not without flaws, but the way he respects others, how he fights to lessen the suffering of others, how his mind opens up to everything happening around him , looking beyond hasty judgment, this is all about the inner divinity of everyone who reads it.

(i got an error message so I'm sending this ask again, ignore if you got the first one. sorry) i know mdzs isn't your favorite, but i have some questions. who were your fav characters? what did you think of wangxian? what did you think of the nhs plot twist? and have you seen the hualian adopts young wwx aus?

Np noony! Humm I think my fave characters would have to be wwx and wen ning, but even more so wen ning. I just really like his setup~

I think wangxian is ok. I definitely like them waaay more in the extras tho! During my read of the novel I didn’t really feel as much chemistry between them, but they were indeed very good when I got to the extras. In fact, now that I think about it, if I’ve read the extras before, maybe I would’ve liked them more during my read... who knows! Regardless, I love seeing art of them, so tender, ah~ ´v`

The plot twist with nhs was a bit of a funny thing cause I called it quite early - mostly because in terms of symbols, fans conceal too much, so I thought he was sus from the start, even more so with the whole thing about the swords, even though I did not know the motive at the time- but then thought “hum that can’t be it, would be too much like ‘the butler did it!’ haha but it was well played. And I did see a few of said fics, although I did not read them. I definitely read a couple that had them interacting as adults, tho, and I quite liked them. I always think wwx would learn a thing or two with hc - not necessarily in terms of cultivation becuse they’re very different individuals, but more in terms of life in general- and that wwx would probably grow just a teeny little bit on hc after a while. He’s a good boi!

So I know that I have made a post about how I want a reading the fic story about YUTS, but I want to add to that. I love reading the story well stories and sometimes I love it when characters in that world read the fanfic that they are in. I am going to post a list of fandoms that I want these in and if anyone has or knows of any stories in those fandoms please I am begging you to rec/send them to me, so that I can read them. PLEASE.

BNHA/My Hero Academia - For this one I will take recs for both the cannon story, but also for any fanfic worlds (EX. The story Reaction to Dreamer where the cannon characters read the fanfic Dreamer) This was also mentioned in my last post when I wanted a reaction fic to YUTS. In this Fandom I actually prefer reading reactions to fanfic worlds over the cannon world.

Bungou Stray Dogs - I know that there are one or two reaction fics out there, but I may have missed some, so I wanted to add it to the list.

Katekyo Hitman Reborn - Like the BNHA one I prefer a reaction to a fanfic world over cannon, but I will take what I can get.

Artemis Fowl - I prefer reading cannon world over reading fanfic world, but again I will take what I can get. I would also prefer if it was the books and not the movie.

MDZS/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation(plus all of the other names it has) - I have no preference of cannon over fanfic and I have read at least two fics with this premise, but I want to see if I missed any.

Natsume Yuujinchou/Natsume’s Book of Friends - I prefer cannon for this and I did find one, but it was never really completed or even really started and I want to see if there are any more out there.

Noragami - I prefer cannon and for this one I would love it even more if the part that they are reading goes into Yato’s past.

PJO/HOO - If it is a part of Rick Riordan’s mythology series I want a reading the story fic. I prefer cannon and if there are any that center around Blood of Olympus and the Battle of Manhattan then I would love them even more.

Seven Deadly Sins - I prefer cannon

DGM/D. Gray-man - I prefer cannon even though cannon is a little confusing right now.

Castlevania - I will take both cannon (Netflix series) or fanfic readings. I am not the most fond of the most recent season so I am good if it stops after the defeat of Dracula.

Angels of Death - I prefer cannon only

Assassination Classroom - I prefer cannon only

Durarara!!! - I prefer cannon, but I will also take anything that centers on Izaya. For the fanfic ones I love Shizaya and I am not fond of X2 so the fic doesn’t have to include that. I did love the twins though.

Fullmetal Alchemist - I prefer cannon only. I also prefer FMA: Brotherhood if you are using an anime or the manga.

The Glass scientists - This is a webcomic, so I haven’t been able to find must fanfic for this in general, but if there are any fics for this out there I would love to find and read them. I prefer cannon on this one.

Inuyasha - I will take either canon or fanfic worlds, but just be warned that I am not a big fan of the Inuyasha x Kagame ship

Iris Zero - I haven’t found much for this fandom in general, but I would love one of this type

Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler - I prefer cannon, but only Manga cannon. I am not a big fan of the Anime cannon

Irregular at magic highschool/Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei - I now that a lot of people have issues with this series, but I really love it and want to see the characters react to the awesomeness that is Tatsuya. I prefer cannon.

Rising of the Shield Hero - I prefer cannon with little to no shipping

Warrior Cats - I prefer cannon. It can start wherever in the series, but I like the first set with Firestar and I like the sets that have Jayfeather in them best.

Yu Yu Hakusho - I prefer cannon

The Ancient Magus’s Bride- Again not a lot of fanfic, so lets see what we can find

Blue Exorcist - I prefer Manga cannon

At this moment this means that there are roughly 3,862 stories that I want reactions to.

I left the TGre fandom about a month after it ended and haven't cared about it since then but when I read "uwu Kaneki" and "omg Touken" in your ask I started laughing because you described pretty much the fandom in a nutshell. They don't acknowledge there are other characters who are just as important to story (if not more interesting to analyse lol)... But this fandom's sense of fun is sending death threats because someone said Kaneki did some things wrong. I'm glad you found hxh and enjoy it!

Well, to be fair, there’s nothing wrong with uwu Kaneki and omg Touken, plenty friends love it, and I do think Touka and Kaneki were great characters up to a point, and even if I lost interest in them there are plenty of reasons others stayed interested in them. I ship Touken pretty hard and still really enjoy 125, just wish it’d… gone somewhere I found meaningful, but it went a place I didn’t like so *shrugs.* If Kaneki’s journey worked for people, that’s awesome, and I’ve been saying that for like… always, and yet people only hear what they want to hear, which is apparently me never shutting up about how I hate TG and everyone associated with it and wish Kaneki had been torn apart by everyone who once loved him when none of that is true nor anything I’ve ever said. Like it really felt today like that person is someone who has been nursing a grudge against me since last summer, which is just weird since I haven’t participated in the fandom in… so long. It was an old post I referenced. Six months old. I stand by it. I agree with that definition of the term, provided evidence why K meets that definition, and said it’s something I personally dislike. No one has to agree. It was just my thoughts. 

It’s also so, so strange to me that not even the toxic wasteland that is the SnK fandom is so opposed to critique. Like all my fandoms allow critique. Star Wars wasn’t planned in the OT and it shows and the PT has horrid dialogue and pacing. SnK’s pacing is atrocious. Banana Fish’s ending should have been better and comes across as cruel and insensitive. MDZS is pretty perfect narratively but one of its sex scenes has some weird issues with consent and alcohol–it’s not creepy nor framed that way, but it doesn’t come across well. The Promised Neverland has characters who are more ideals than characters. Hunter x Hunter hasn’t used Leorio well. BNHA is really sexist. Monster could have been clearer in Johan’s motivation. AssClass didn’t handle Itona or Nagisa’s abuse situations well. Black Butler forces its characters’ hands sometimes. ATLA bad victims Azula. Korra’s second season is boring. GOT doesn’t treat its women well and what even was that beyond the wall episode in the 6th season. Harry Potter doesn’t have good representation. 

See, I can do it for any story, and I have mentioned all of these critiques before. No story is perfect, and yeah, some of my critiques are influenced by my tastes but that’s normal. I give four of those stories 10/10s anyways. 

It’s so weird because like critique is… a job right. People are movie critics/art critics/play/books/restaurant etc. Like people, society, enjoys reading and writing critiques of anything so much there’s an actual job and career you can make out of it. Why is it strange fandom also includes critique? 

But, the TG fandom is basically this: 

I’ve seen gatekeeping ruin more than a few fandoms (namely, the Finnrey and Finnpoe fandoms from Star Wars), and it’s always sad to see a fandom cutting off its lifeline, because fandom thrives, like all art, on discussion, healthy respectful discourse, and the trading and dissection of ideas and representations of them (which fanfic and art are). But if you police it to the point where you have to past XYZ to be accepted and check off just the right boxes, then… your fandom always winds up dead.
