Heisenberg: gigantic steel dreadnought/frigate. Self-sustaining, can remain at sea for years, takes shipwrecks and the dead into its hidden bowels to empower itself. Watch for black fumes in the sky

Dimitrescu: 16th/17th/whatever century they were born in galleon-style ship, famous for being a getaway for women on land in dire straits. Rules over tropical waters aggressively. Signalled by the sea turning red

Few have seen the ship of Beneviento. Some say it's jet black, probably no larger than a yacht. Some say it’s a sizable brig run by a crew not of flesh but of wood and hinges. In either case, she always appears in mist; don't trust any area infamous for mirages

Moreau has less a ship, and moreso wears a marshy island with a solitary, broken lighthouse. This is actually the biological shell of a leviathan, who uses it as a lure to the desperate or brave. Thankfully, he's relatively easy to outsmart. The sky rains acid in warning of him

So I’ve decided to create a full on art blog. This is where I’ll be posting my art and anything related to my art. My main account will just be for other stuff, aka reblogs that consumes my art lol.

Since this’ll be a pinned post I’ll introduce myself.

I am Grace/Art/Marshy, you can call me any of those names. I’m 21 years old and have been making art for 8+ years and writing for just as long. wrote some unedited spur of the moment found family balvaan au where postgame skypirate vaan (probably age 23) finds an orphan rozarrian girl on a solo trip of his, falls in love w her, and brings her back to rabanastre. there, he drops her off at penelo’s orphanage, and meets with balthier, who he has not seen in over a month.

there’s little that can lull the sky pirate balthier to sleep faster than the gentle hum of his ship and the warmth of vaan at his side; especially since the latter is hard-pressed to pin down, what with his own wings carrying him across ivalice every other waking moment. it’s been over a solid moon cycle since he’s seen the young man, only adding further to his insistence that vaan join him on this heist, past bancour’s marshy borders. the rumored treasure seems easy enough to unearth, hardly a challenge for a pirate of his stature - but truth be told an easy heist is a refreshing one and it plays well enough as an excuse to bring vaan along.

docked high above the rushing currents that cleave through dalmasca’s borders, the strahl hovers, and within it balthier is happy to be in bed with his globetrotting lover. sleep tugs at the pilot; his eyelids flutter and the rise and fall of his chest presses against vaan as he drapes sidelong over vaan’s supine form. beneath the stillness of his palm on vaan’s abdomen, balthier can feel the dalmascan breathing, and can tell he’s not yet asleep. with much effort, balthier pries an eye open and lifts his chin from the comfort of his lover’s broad chest to find vaan staring up at the ceiling of his cabin, seemingly lost in thought.

“still awake?” balthier murmurs, voice heavy with the pull of sleep. vaan blinks and looks down at balthier with a crease in his brow.

“yeah,” he says softly. “i just can’t stop thinking about her.”

it takes balthier a moment - two moments, really, as he sifts through the fog of his headspace to locate the memory which vaan references. and then he recalls - the rozarrian orphan-girl vaan picked up on his last trip out west. no older than five, the girl has stolen the sky pirate vaan’s heart, and during his solo trip to the city of ambervale he snuck her back with him across the borders to bring to rabanastre, and ultimately, penelo’s orphanage waiting within it.

balthier is, frankly, too tired for this. the girl vaan is so enamored with has little effect on him; though he’d only met her briefly before hoarding vaan away on the strahl, he can safely bet a filthy rozarrian orphan will sway his general take on children very little.

vaan, however, is caught by her, hook line and sinker. it’s clear here, well-past midnight after a long day of flying, that this child must have a hold on vaan’s heart if he cannot find sleep. especially in his bed.

balthier rubs his chin against vaan’s chest as he scratches an itch, and paws idly around the other’s hips to find vaan’s stray hand which he holds; the silken slide of his fingers through balthier’s is a comfort the gunman cannot begin to name.

“it’s been not even a day, vaan; she’ll be just fine in penelo’s care. you know this.”

vaan restlessly runs his thumb along balthier’s hand, and at the sensation, balthier surrenders to the weight of his lids pulling his eyes shut. “i’m not worried about that. i just–i can’t stop thinking about her. ” he repeats it again, and balthier wants to groan. it would be awfully polite of his lover to pay more attention to him, after not having seen each other for weeks upon weeks until now–annoying, to have to play competition against a dirty rozarrian girl with big brown eyes and a gap tooth. “the way she looked at me when i left her at penelo’s…i wonder if she believes me when i say i’ll be back.” and his voice is so forlorn, here; balthier can nearly feel the painful twist beneath the shell of vaan’s ribs as the words crawl from there past his tight throat.

“silly dalmascan,” balthier chides, voice a raw velvet in the night, “it escapes me how you’ve managed to become any sort of pirate while still holding fast to that heart of gold.” he tilts his head up, to press his lips against vaan’s in a cheap sort of attempt at comfort. they kiss too-briefly for his tastes but he’s too tired to draw it out. his lids are so heavy but he meets vaan’s gaze with some muster of strength, and finally his lover grins at him, a smile meant for him and no one else.

“you manage just fine with yours,” vaan counters, squeezing balthier’s hand, and the older man groans in disgust.

“how obscene. do not accuse me of being soft,” he chides, but he does not move his hand from vaan’s, and merely tilts his chin back down upon his tanned chest. “i’ll have no such talk on my ship.”

his head reverberates on vaan’s chest as the dalmascan chuckles. “it’ll be my little secret then. hey,” he slides his hand from balthier’s to sift through his cropped russet hair, “sorry to break it to you–but i need to get up. ‘m really thirsty.”

balthier groans, long and low, and does not move. sensing this, vaan unearths himself from balthier’s grasp with a sigh, and the archadian slides from vaan’s hold onto the mattress. the wake of vaan’s body is warm on the sheets. balthier lies there, splayed and lazy, as vaan pads out to the kitchenette.

he falls asleep again before vaan even makes it to the cabinets.

there’s a telltale dip in the bed signifying vaan’s return. upon waking again, balthier turns over irritably until his back faces vaan.

“you’re spooning me for that stunt,” he grunts, and if vaan very well won’t then he can enjoy the sight of his back for the rest of the night. but vaan only chuckles; the sound echoes slightly, his lips likely against the rim of the glass as he empties it, and then there’s a soft clink of it against the bedside table before strong, broad arms snake around balthier’s narrow waist to draw him close.

“better?” vaan’s voice does nothing but lull balthier further to sleep; he could listen to his lover speak softly for hours and never get tired of it. that’s why, in some twisted way, he rather likes being apart from vaan for such long stints. distance does make the heart grow ever-fonder, and reuniting with him after their separate ventures ignites something powerful in his core each time. his hands grasp at vaan’s and he holds them firm, but not tight - just enough, just right.

“better.”

he can still feel the flutter of vaan’s lashes against his shoulder blades as the dalmascan blinks; sleep won’t find him nearly as easily as it will balthier, but the brunette can’t find the strength to entertain his thoughts tonight.

tomorrow isn’t looking good either.

for now, he’ll simply enjoy their time together. the girl can wait. orphans are used to that - vaan’s always told him such, though he is wise to not remind him of it.

sleep finds balthier easily in vaan’s hold, the warmth wrapping around him like summer vines in the sun. who knows? if this heist goes as well as he predicts, he’ll have plenty of time left to spend with vaan.

even if he isn’t fond of sharing it…
