“I WALK THE LINE” JAVIER GARCIA X TOUGH FEM!READER
Tumblr media
SUMMARY : You are the leader of The New Frontier and you’ve won the heart of both brothers but you’re only interested in the baseball player.
ADDITIONAL : So that there is no confusion, this takes place after the events of killing Joan only that then you became leader. Also Clem never got kicked out and lives with you and AJ. Mariana never died. And there’s just things that are tweaked in the story but will make sense as you read.
WARNINGS : Cursing, suggestive content, talks about religion, and maybe more
There was something about you that made you so intriguing yet utterly horrifying to Javi. Maybe it was because you acted somewhat like his brother and were in a solider mindset. Or maybe it was the way you spoke about death like you weren’t afraid of it. Maybe it was because you were so beautiful yet so deadly. Or maybe it was just you period.
Javi had met you when he came into the New Frontier seeing as you were the leader and David was your second in command. His first impression? You were hard to impress. You didn’t care about anything really other than the mission at hand but Javi saw more through you.
You caught on to the fact that Kate had feelings for him and would relentlessly joke about it to Javi which irritated him to no end. He didn’t have feelings for her. He never did. Not for his brother’s wife.
He saw how history may soon repeat because even though you were not with David romantically, it was clear he wanted to be with you romantically. Though, he would never admit it. David took pride in his reputation and him falling for you didn’t look good considering he technically already had a wife.
Javi was after all, a man at the end of the day and could tell by just looking at the two of you. The longing looks David had for you. How he would at least try to control his temper around you. How you were the only one to keep him in check.
And Javi hated it.
He just couldn’t tell if you felt the same way back and until he did so, he would keep hitting on you. Even in front of his brother.
Javi played with the ring on his finger that belonged to his father while watching you. You were looking over some papers to see about your supply chain in the doctors office alone. Javi took it as his chance to stroll over to you.
He watched you look up from your papers and down. “What do you want twenty five?”
Twenty five was the nickname that was quickly given to him while you discovered of his baseball history. He didn’t mind it though. He thought it was cute. And he thought more that you liked him. At least a little.
“I can’t come in a check on you?” Javi asked fake offended.
“I don’t need you to do that. I already have David breathing down my neck.” Javi watched as you winced and held your stomach.
You gotten a pretty bad gash on your stomach from Badger and it wasn’t looking so good. Usually David was tough around everyone but the wound was so bad that he was starting to worry.
And if David of all people was worrying than it had to be that bad.
Javi took the papers out your hand and made you sit on top of the desk. “Hey, sit down.”
You sighed in annoyance. “Not you too.”
“Hey, if the big bad wolf is worried…then it’s gotta be bad.” Javi noticed your eye roll and chuckled.
You leaned back a little. “I don’t know what’s gotten into him. He’s been acting weird. I can’t put my finger on it.”
Of course, Javi knew exactly what was wrong. The problem was David wanted you but he didn’t want you. He wanted you in the best possible ways but he didn’t want the baggage that would come with that.
Lucky for Javi, he didn’t mind baggage. “David isn’t used to caring about something.” Javi put it into simple terms. “Just give him a second.”
“You’re too nice to him. Because the way he treats you…if I had a sister and she did me the way he did you…she wouldn’t be breathing.”
Javi laughed. “Well…Clementine’s kinda like your sister isn’t she?”
“Well yeah. But she doesn’t tell me how much of a failure I am every second.”
That was true. For Javi, it was hard dealing with David but he had gotten so used to it that it didn’t even affect him anymore. “It’s like wired in my brain. I know he loves me he just…has a funny way of showing it.”
“Yeah. You’re telling me.”
Javi noticed that you clutched your stomach in pain again. “Let me see.”
You gave him a look. “Is this your excuse of trying to see me shirtless.”
“I would’ve came up with something better if that’s the case.”
The statement made you laugh a little and you lifted your shirt for Javi to see the scar.
It was bad. A stab to the right and it would’ve been over for you. The stitches were nicely done. “Who did these?”
“Clementine…still don’t know how she knows how to do that.”
Javi nodded in agreement. “That’s one tough kid.” His hand gently went to caress the scar. He was so glad that badger was dead.
You watched as Javi’s expression went from worry to anger. A similar expression you had seen on David. You took Javi’s hand and held it. “I’m fine. Relax. It could’ve been worse.”
“Yeah. That’s the problem. It could’ve went worse.”
“Luckily you shot him in the head huh?”
“I wish I could do it twice.”
It was moments like these you saw the similarities to Javi and David and you couldn’t help but laugh because it was something you expected from David but not Javi.
You got off from the desk and Javi helped you off. You were about to fall but Javi quickly caught you and held you close. “Careful.” He told you. “That supply chain isn’t going anywhere.”
“You know if I don’t do it, David is definitely not doing it.”
Javi chuckled and helped you stand to your feet. “That’s one thing about him. All about the action. Hates the paperwork.”
“You know what else David is gonna hate?”
Javi looked at you curiously. “What?”
You covered your mouth as sort of a playful whisper. “You banging his wife.”
Again with the joke, Javi watched you laugh as he groaned out of annoyance. You walked out the room and Javi followed in pursuit. “How many times do I have to tell you, nothing is going on between me and her.”
“Well obviously she wants you.”
“I don’t want her.”
You playfully gasped in shock to him and stopped walking making him stop. “You don’t want thee Kate Garcia?” Javi rolled his eyes. “What will the world do if they didn’t have twenty five in their life?”
You went back to walking and Javi followed in pursuit. “Hey, I had a lot of women wanting twenty five in their life thank you very much.”
“Oh yeah? Were they all offered to hitch a ride to the psych ward afterwards?”
“Oh very funny.”
“I know. I’m a true comedian really.”
Javi had never seen you this way around anyone really. You were always so cold. So negative but with him you weren’t like that.
That made him believe you two had something.
Javi walked right in front of you to stop you in your tracks. “Busy tonight?”
“Actually, I was totally looking forward to my nail and hair appointment.” You said sarcastically. “Ooh! Or maybe go sight seeing with walkers!”
“Taking that as a no…” He trailed off before speaking again. “I need help with the count on food for next week.”
“Oh and you’re just so helpless that you need me?”
“Exactly.”
You rolled your eyes playfully before nodding. “Sure. I guess.”
You went to take another step but the sudden pain pinched at your gut and you clutched your stomach. Javi immediately held you by the waist and brought you closer. “You okay?”
“Yeah. I’m fine.”
Javi knew you weren’t fond of touch but you never seemed to mind when he held you.
The two of you heard footsteps coming from down the hall. Javi was about to remove his hands from your waist but you placed your hands on top of his, keeping them firm in place.
The person stopped in their tracks and you two recognized it was David.
He gave the two of you a look of disgust before looking at his brother in anger. “What the hell is going on?”
“Nothing.” You stated calmly. “Just slight pain.”
David immediately walked over to you and grabbed the papers in your hand. He looked at them before getting annoyed. “I told you I would do this.”
“You’re not going to do it the correct way.” You told him.
“Yes I will.” He looked over at Javi. “What are you doing here?”
Javi, knowing the reason why David was being like this, rolled his eyes at him. “Just helping, (Y/N). Relax.”
“Don’t tell me to relax.” When David said that, you gave him a good hard smack on his chest.
“Shut up, you idiot. You’re so annoying sometimes.”
Javi watched as David took a deep breath in and out. He noticed his brother was trying to control his temper and it was working. Once again, he controlled his anger for you.
“Look, come on. I’ll help you.” He practically pushed Javi off of you and held onto your waist as you started walking away.
“You’re being ridiculous.” You grumbled.
“I’m not being ridiculous. You are.”
Javi sighed slightly watching him walk away with you but he wasn’t worried. Not even in the slightest.
When Javi turned around, he jumped back a little. He wasn’t expecting for Clementine to be there. “Ay’ dios mio, do you always sneak up behind people?”
“I wasn’t sneaking.” Clementine defended. “I was going to talk to (Y/N) but I see your brother already hauled her off somewhere.”
“Yeah.” Javi crossed his arms. “He hasn’t let her breathe ever since…”
Clementine nodded. “I think it’s because he’s mad.”
“Mad?” Javi questioned. “Why would he be mad?”
“Mad at you.”
“Me? What did I do?…This time?”
Clementine smiled slightly before shaking her head. “You saved her. I think David wanted to be the one that was there.”
It made sense in some way but Javi still couldn’t understand. You were safe now. Why did it matter? “But she’s alive? Shouldn’t that be all that matters?”
“Not if it’s you involved.” Clementine walked over to the window and Javi followed her. There, they watched as David sat you down in a chair. “I’m not blind. I know he likes her. And I know you like her too.”
Javi wasn’t going to deny it. Especially because Clementine was already a smart kid. “You think it’s not worth it?”
“I think if you love someone, anything is worth it.” She said. “But is it worth losing your brother?”
David already lost Kate because of Javi. Was it fair he’d lose you to? Because of him?
This wasn’t fair. He didn’t ask to have feelings for you. They were just there. And he definitely didn’t ask for Kate to have feelings for him which David didn’t even know that he was the real reason they weren’t together anymore.
But you were worth everything.
When the stars shined in the sky, Javi put on his jersey and opened the door to walk out of his room. What he didn’t expect was to see Kate standing right there. “Oh…hey, Kate.”
Ever since Kate confessed her feelings for Javi and he rejected her, Javi felt it was best to keep his distance. If she was any other woman than it wouldn’t have been a problem. But she wasn’t just any woman. She was his brother’s wife.
“I was going to knock…where are you going?”
He really didn’t feel like getting into an argument with her as you and Kate did not get along but he also wasn’t one to lie. “Going to count the food supply with (Y/N).”
Kate scoffed. “She can’t do it herself?”
Javi suppressed an eye roll. He stepped out the room making her take a step back and closed the door before walking. “You know it’s my job right?”
“That doesn’t mean she needs to be with you. God it’s like ever since she got hurt you and David…”
“Hey I’ve been letting her do her own thing. David is the one that’s not letting her breathe.”
“It’s like he likes her or something…”
Javi caught the attitude in her voice. He wasn’t fond of David liking you either. Well that was because of his own feelings but why did Kate have a problem with it. “Does it matter? You broke up with him.”
He watched as Kate’s head went down in shame and she sighed. “Yeah. Look how that turned out.”
That made Javi stop in his tracks. He turned around and faced Kate, also making her stop. “Listen, I’m sorry how things turned out and I don’t mean to sound harsh but you got to let it go.”
“Let it go? You’re telling me to let my feelings go?”
“Yes. It’s wrong and I don’t want to be any part of it when David finds out the real reason you broke it off with him.”
Kate grabbed Javi’s hands and brought them to her. “So you’re saying if David wasn’t your brother you would be with me?”
Javi shook his head and took his hands back from her. “No Kate. Brother or not, I don’t feel anything for you. I care about you but I don’t love you. I’m sorry.”
Before Kate could get out a response, Javi’s radio started to sound like static. And then he heard your voice over it. “Twenty five. You ready?”
Javi grabbed his radio and pressed the button to speak. “Yeah. Where you want me to meet you at?”
“Just meet me at the warehouse. Also I like roses.”
Javi smiled knowing you were half joking. “Copy that.” He placed the radio on his belt and when he looked up, he saw Kate had an angry expression. “What?”
“You’re in love with her? Are you serious?”
“Kate…” Javi sighed out. “I’m not having this discussion with you.”
When Kate looked into his eyes all she saw was someone that didn’t care about her. “Unbelievable…” She mumbled before turning around and walking away.
“It’s like I’m in high school all over again.” Javi said to himself.
It didn’t matter if you were half joking, Javi still picked you out the prettiest rose from the garden you all were growing.
You were in the warehouse already counting the food while sitting on the ground. You had the burden of being leader ever since they took down Joan and the others which meant the responsibility of everyone fell on you.
Javi could tell you were stressed but you were good at not showing it. That’s what he loved about you. About how big your heart was despite you trying to act otherwise.
He walked over towards you and held out the rose. “This wasn’t my ideal date.”
You looked up and were surprised that he had gotten you a rose. You took it before looking up at him. “What was then?”
“You know…” Javi sat in front of you and grabbed one of the clipboards. “Dinner and a night out. Not being inside counting our dinner.”
You chuckled a little before resuming your count. “You know I don’t really miss how the world used to be.”
Javi raised a brow at this. “Why? What could be worse than people trying to eat you?”
“At least they can’t control them being monsters. But us…we can control that.”
Javi got what you were hinting towards. “Yeah, that’s true.”
You hit your pen on your clipboard, deep in thought. “Do you believe in God, Javi?”
“Yes…but I can see why someone wouldn’t.”
You nodded at his opinion. “I never did. Everyone always told me that God was always watching me…then why did he watch me as my father beat me? Or when my mother lit her cigarette on me? Or when my Uncle John forced me to drink liquor? Or when my cousin Rob killed my cat? Why did he always just watch and never do anything?”
“It doesn’t matter if I’m in my old life or this life…either way…it sucks both ways. Mind as well take the one that sucks less.”
Javi wasn’t surprised to hear what happened in your life only because it explained why you were the tough woman you are now.
He knew what you felt about sympathy and he knew you despised grievance so he took another approach. “Maybe God wanted you to suffer.”
At that, you looked at him, extremely confused but laughing. “What?”
Javi laughed with you. “Yeah, maybe he picked you because he specifically hated you and wanted you to suffer the most.”
You laughed hysterically and hit him with your clipboard. “Shut up.”
“I’m serious. He’s probably looking down right now and thinking, ‘damn I probably didn’t do enough.”
“You’re so stupid.” You said with a laugh.
Getting you to smile was one of the best things Javi could accomplish. You smiled like you were the happiest person in the world.
“I wish David could be like this. He’s too serious.”
When you said that, Javi decided to rip the bandaid off. “That’s because he’s in love with you.”
When he had said that, you looked up to him completely shocked. “What? No he isn’t…”
Javi nodded to confirm. “Yeah, he is. Come on, (Y/N). You’re the only person besides his kids that he checks up on constantly. Always worrying. The overbearing protectiveness. I mean he obviously has some feelings for you.”
You never really thought about it but now that you were, it was strange the way David would act around you. So strange it could come off as he had feelings for you.
You groaned and rubbed your temples in annoyance. “Oh no…”
Javi laughed as he had not expected that reaction. “What? You don’t like my brother?”
“Please. David is not anywhere near my type.”
“So what is your type?”
You saw how eager Javi was to know which made you thump his head with your thumb. “Not you.”
Though you were lying. Although Javi maybe wasn’t your ideal type, you sure wouldn’t complain if you had rode into the sunset with him. He was smart, handsome, emotionally intelligent while also having a sense of humor.
Javi looked back to his clipboard. “How do you want me to do the rations this week.”
“I say we stop doing those. They already get 3 meals a day without labor. A lot of them aren’t seeing the use of even working. If they want any extra food, they have to work harder. We’re giving out food and wasting it when we really don’t have to.”
Javi nodded. “That makes sense…how do you think David will feel about it though?”
“Not great when he finds out the rules also apply to his kids.” You say. “Look I love Mariana and Gabe but they’re old enough not to get any special treatment. The only one that is getting any special treatment is AJ and that’s only because he’s still a toddler.”
“Hey, I got your back if he says anything.”
“He shouldn’t. It was his stupid idea for me to be leader anyway.”
Javi hated when you spoke badly about yourself. After all the hard things you had to do, you didn’t deserve that. He gently grabbed your hand which made you look at him. “It wasn’t stupid. You’re a great leader. You’re the only one willing to make the hard calls.”
You sighed a little. “That’s what I hate about this. Help me up.”
Javi stood up on his feet first. Then he helped you slowly get up. You were groaning in pain. “I can get a wheelchair from the hospital you know?”
You hit his shoulder lightly. “Stop talking stupid.”
You tried to walk but the minute you did, your legs gave out from the pain. Luckily Javi was fast and caught you before you fell. “You are so stubborn.” He said to you.
He handed you his clipboard. You looked at him confused but took it. He then picked you up bridal style.
“Javi!” You gasped out in shock.
“Which way?” Javi asked, ignoring your shout.
You shook your head before pointing. “To the left…by the way you’re aren’t cool for doing this.”
“I think I’m very cool.”
The next day, Javi made sure to prepare himself. He was going to confess his feelings for you. He honestly didn’t think it would go bad. Whether you accepted him or rejected him, he wasn’t like Kate or David. If all he could do was be your friend then he would be just that.
It was early in the morning. Breakfast time which meant the community was in the dining hall eating.
He knew that usually at this time you were in your office by yourself so he made his way towards the room.
The door was wide open and there he saw David. It appeared to be that the two of you were arguing.
“My kids need food, (Y/N) and are used to eating the rations. Making the rule apply to them won’t help anything.”
“I hate to break it to you David, but they are not kids anymore. Far from it. If the people figure out you and your family get special treatment then I’m the one that gets all the angry people in this group at me. Not you, me.”
“This is stupid!”
Javi decided to make himself known. He walked into the office while looking at his brother. “David, Mariana and Gabe are both capable of going without the rations. They gotta work for it like everyone else.“
David turned to his brother in pure anger. He shoved Javi in the chest. “Stay out of it.”
You pushed yourself in between the two and faced David. “You just don’t want him in it because he’s the only one on my side.”
“I don’t want him involved because last time I checked, I was your second in command - not him. What the hell do you care for anyway? He’s pretty much useless.”
Javi wasn’t fazed at all by David’s comment as he was used to his behavior. You didn’t like it. Not at all. Javi saw your expression turn sad. You took a couple steps back from David. “Then maybe you shouldn’t be second in command anymore should you?”
David’s eyes widened at this. “Wait no. Come on, (Y/N). You don’t mean that.”
“Everywhere I go, you’re breathing over my shoulder and you’re suffocating me. And then the way you treat your brother just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.”
“I don’t treat him like anything! I-“
David went to grab your hands but you quickly pushed them away and continued your rant. “And then you’re always mad all the time. Mad at me.”
“I’m mad at you because I love you.”
Silence. Neither Javi nor you were expecting that. You didn’t even think David himself was expecting himself to say that. Javi was just thinking if he should just walk out the the room slowly and leave the two of your alone at this point.
“I don’t love you.”
Javi saw the expression on David’s face. It was hurt. A hurt he had never seen on his face. The type of hurt that was heart breaking. If David was capable of tears, Javi bet that David would be crying by now.
David held his head down as he walked out the office. You waited until he was completely gone before shutting the office door.
“That was…rough…” Javi said breaking the silence.
You sighed, rubbing your head. You felt a headache come in quick. “I can’t keep doing this with him. Walking on eggshells at every turn. I mean I know I’m not the best with emotions but at least I don’t spaze out on people every five minutes. It’s just…too much.”
It was pretty hard having a brother like David but Javi always made sure to not give into the hate and always have hope for him. “His brain isn’t wired how ours is. It’s like…you’re driving at 30 miles per hour. All the time. You’re safe and cautious of your surroundings. With him? He’s driving at 90. Full foot on the gas and not even bothering to hit the break…until he’s about to crash…and then it’s too late.”
You looked at Javi curiously. “Why do you do that? Your brother treats you like shit every single day and you defend him without blinking an eye.”
Javi walked over towards you before leaning on your desk right next to you. “Because…it’s just not worth it. Him being mad at me…me being mad at him…it’s a never ending cycle and I don’t want to partake in any of that.”
You nodded at him before sitting on top of your desk. “I don’t ever miss the old world exactly. I just missed what we could do in it….like eat a pizza, or go laser tagging, or watch tv…or get married…”
When you mentioned the last part, Javi turned to look at you interested. “Married? You wanted that?”
“I know it sounds corny but…I wanted a marriage and a kid…I wanted to have a family because well…I didn’t quite get that during my childhood.”
It made Javi a little upset that all the things you wished for, you couldn’t have because of the apocalypse. But then again, he was sort of glad this all happened because he probably wouldn’t have met you.
Javi looked at the ring on his finger before taking it off. He stood directly in front of you, grabbing your left hand. “I always thought that the marriage thing was for my brother.” You watched as he carefully slid the ring on your ring finger. “But I guess when you really love someone, the idea to you isn’t so crazy.”
You caught on to his confession and you were surprised. Javi chuckled at your surprise but didn’t take it as rejection. “Oh come on, mi amor. You had to of known I at least liked you a little.”
He didn’t wait for your response. He leaned down and kissed you. When Javi kissed you, you felt safe. Like it was home.
You brought your hand to cup the back of his neck. He kissed you lovingly. Like he had loved you for a century.
His lips were like cotton candy. Soft and delicious. His hands were rough but felt so good going along your thigh.
Javi moaned in your mouth when you gripped his hair. He felt your other hand reach the belt of his pants and when he felt that you were about to undo it, he stopped.
He placed his hand over yours while resting his forehead on yours. “You still haven’t healed yet.” He said, reminding you of your wound on your stomach.
You giggled. “What? Are you trying to say that thing can hurt me?”
“Maybe…” Javi gave you a sweet kiss on the lips before sighing. “David is going to be so pissed at me.”
You made Javi look you in the eye. “Stop worrying about what he wants. Worry about what you want.”
Javi always put everything he’d ever wanted to the side because of his brother’s jealousy and insecurities. He was done doing that. He didn’t want to keep living the life of pleasing him.
He just wanted you.
“How do we tell him?”
You shrugged. “It’s not ours to tell. You don’t owe him anything, Javi.”
Javi felt you press your lips onto his and suddenly he was back to his safe home.
The only thing was that the blinds to the window was opened and someone saw the two of you.
It took a lot for David to be heartbroken. He was a strong man. Not just physically but emotionally. He barely felt sadness. Just anger but he was tired of feeling it.
He should’ve known you didn’t feel the same way. Why would you? He was the guy always mad at the world. Who would want to be with someone like that? It was the reason Kate left.
First his first wife, then Kate, and now you.
He couldn’t catch a break.
David couldn’t sleep as the guilt was surfacing. Everyone he did or has ever done just wasn’t washing away. Not this time.
He was sitting at the kitchen table, just staring off with his thoughts.
That was until there was a knock on the door.
David peaked up from his seat. It had to of been ten at night. Who would come to him at the ungodly hour? Maybe you?
He stood before walking over to the door. He opened it and there he saw Kate. Someone he hadn’t expected.
“Kate…are you okay? Why are you here so late?”
Kate looked the same. Heartbroken as well but he couldn’t really put a finger on why she was. She didn’t give him another word before pushing herself inside his house.
“Okay…” David closed the door to his house and looked back at Kate who had her back turned to him. “You wanna tell me what’s going on?”
He heard her breathe in and out like she was trying not to cry. “I need to tell you the truth. The reason why I actually broke things off.”
“The truth?” David was confused. Was what she told him before not the truth? “Why are you just now telling me?”
“Because you need to know. You deserve it.”
There was something about her voice that made it seem like she was more so doing it for her and not him but regardless it was late at night and he couldn’t care less. “Kate it’s done and over with. Whatever it was…I don’t even care anymore.”
“It’s Javi.”
It was like she knew that would spark his attention. His eyes widened and he took steps towards her. “What do you mean by that?”
Kate sighed and turned to face him. “When me and him were on the road with the kids for so long…I really saw a different side to him. Not the same one obsessed with gambling and laying on your couch hoping for the next bag of money to roll in. I saw someone who was brave, and protective, and over all one of the best people I’ve ever met. I fell in love with him.”
David bit his lip. The same way he tried to control his temper with you, he was trying to control it now. “What? My brother? Are you serious Kate?!”
“I know…I know…it doesn’t matter because he doesn’t feel the same way. It’s just…I thought you should know.”
David cared but only a little. He wasn’t in love with Kate anymore. There wasn’t really anything for him to be mad at. “I can’t believe this..”
Kate looked into his eyes before stepping forward. “There’s something else…I know you care about, (Y/N).” Before David could get in a word, Kate held her hand up. “Let me finish. I know you do…but there’s something you should know so you don’t get caught off guard…I saw her and Javi kissing. I think they’re together now.”
David stood there, completely in shock. He would have never imagined it’d be you. That you’d fall for a guy like Javi. A guy that was his brother.
He couldn’t imagine Javi even having any feelings for you. He was just in shock.
Kate knew him too well and knew what was coming next. “I just thought you should know…” She opened the door to the house before leaving, closing it behind her.
It was at that point David grabbed a vase and smashed it into the wall.
There was no controlling his temper anymore. Not even you.

Nonbinary manga artist Poppy Pesuyama is excited when forms offer the option to choose “neither” for gender and thrilled about their new job working as an assistant for mangaka X! But then he sexually harasses them, treating them first like a girl and then like something less than human. It only lasts a few months, but in some ways it never ends. Born into a body they hate and still reeling from the abuse they faced seven years ago, Pesuyama begins to rail at their past, their friends, and even their mother as they try to come to terms with who they are and what happened to them.
Belle of the Ball - By Mari Costa
High-school senior and notorious wallflower Hawkins finally works up the courage to remove her mascot mask and ask out her longtime crush: Regina Moreno, head cheerleader, academic overachiever, and all-around popular girl. There’s only one teensy little problem: Regina is already dating Chloe Kitagawa, athletic all-star…and middling English student. Regina sees a perfectly self-serving opportunity here, and asks the smitten Hawkins to tutor Chloe free of charge, knowing Hawkins will do anything to get closer to her. And while Regina’s plan works at first, she doesn’t realize that Hawkins and Chloe knew each other as kids, when Hawkins went by Belle and wore princess dresses to school every single day. Before long, romance does start to blossom…but not between who you might expect. With Belle of the Ball, cartoonist Mariana Costa has reinvigorated satisfying, reliable tropes into your new favorite teen romantic comedy.
The Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich - By Deya Muniz
Lady Camembert wants to live life on her own terms, without marriage. Well, without marrying a man, that is. But the law of the land is that women cannot inherit. So when her father passes away, she does the only thing she can: She disguises herself as a man and moves to the capital city of the Kingdom of Fromage to start over as Count Camembert.   But it’s hard to keep a low profile when the beautiful Princess Brie, with her fierce activism and great sense of fashion, catches her attention. Camembert can’t resist getting to know the princess, but as the two grow closer, will she able to keep her secret?   A romantic comedy about mistaken identity, true love, and lots of grilled cheese.

hiyo!! i wanted to requests headcanons, but you dont have to do this if its too much. how about clementine having a panic attack when someone mentions like a word or a situation and goes off alone to calm down? not many people out there know how a panic attack actually feels and looks like, nor how it starts, and how people calm down. if you want, you can include the ericsons kids or the garcias to help her or comfort her after :))) ps i love the garcia fam sm
here are the garcias just for you bb ❤️ i’m in the mood to write some angst today lololol
and yes of course there’s gonna be gabentine ❤️❤️❤️
this is gonna be a long one OOOOPS so click to expand :’)
Javier: ‘Ranch’. Javier had mentioned in passing, suggesting that Richmond invest in one. Clem tensed and shouldered into herself at the phrase, but Javi hadn’t noticed a change until she softly excused herself, scurrying away. “I’ll be right back,” he said softly, waving and excusing himself passively. The group didn’t question it. Javier had always had a soft spot for Clementine. He always worried for her. the moment he closed the door to their small apartment, he could hear rustling in her room. He knocked on her door, noticing it wasn’t closed all the way. He caught her, curled up in the corner of her bed, her fingers knit through her hair. Her hat sat beside her, her bones rattled against her skin, and the whimpered she was attempting to suppress was rising. “Clem?” He hushed, closing and locking the door behind him. No one should see her like this. Not right now. “Hey,” he hushed, growing closer. The closer he got, the more distressed he could see she was. “Hey hey hey,” he slid into a spot beside her, a hand settling on one of her arms. She was cold to the touch. Each passing second made his heart ache more and more. “You’re okay, you’re okay, Clem.” He had never seen her in such a dishevelled state. Finally, she was able to glance up; face pale and riddled with tears. She looked petrified. “I’m sorry,” was all her soft voice could muster up. “Clem,” Javier hushed, easing himself against the wall her bed was pushed up against. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into his side. Once she got close enough, he wrapped both arms around her, tucking her head under his chin, keeping her there. “I got you. You’re okay. I’m here.” He’d sit like that for as long as Clem needed. He didn’t care. She was worth it.
Kate: “Clem, do you want me to keep this? It’s a picture. It’s captioned ‘Duck, Kenny, and—” she hesitated, raising a brow at the final name. She turned to Clem, about to ask her how to pronounce it, but noticed her back was turned to the woman. She seemed tense with her shoulders high and head low. She pretended to keep writing on her clipboard, but Kate knew. Clem excused herself and left the room before Kate could draw closer, questioning her. She gave a worried glance at the others in the room - Gabe. Javi, and David - and darted after her. Eventually, she found her in her shared room, the door closed. Her body, curled up and hiding under her sheets. Kate knocked and called her name, but only hearing panicked shuffling and breathing as a response, she let herself in. Instantly, spotting the shaking lump under the blankets, she knew something was wrong. Her stomach curled into knots. “Clem?” “Leave me alone. My door was closed.” Her voice was shaky and nasally. Kate knelt by Clem’s bedside, her eyes teary seeing the girl in such pain. “Clem, hun, what’s wrong?” She frowned as she spotted the teen’s head peek out from under her blankets. Kate kept a hand on her cheek, brushing away Clem’s tears with her thumb. She listened as the girl fearfully recounted what was wrong and why her heart was aching. All night, Kate sat, held her hands, kissed her cheeks, and listened. She would be there for as long as Clem needed.
David: “You need to shoot.” He thought it was simple; a statement regarding one of the sick livestock in Richmond. If they let it live, they risked infecting the others. “We have no choice.” When David turned around - ready to answer the question Clem began asking before he needed to give the urgent order - and spotted her already wandering away. He called after her, raising a brow, but she ignored him. After finishing his urgent tasks, he made his way in the teen’s general direction. He assumed she was heading back to their shared home. When he arrived, he could hear the fumbling upstairs. He scurried up, fearing a confrontation was occurring. Bursting into Clem’s room, David found her curled up on her bed, her head tucked into her legs. She wailed the moment the door was burst open, curling deeper into herself. “Go away!” David froze, realizing the sudden terror she was in. “What’s going on? What happened?” Clementine only continued to wail, too shaken up to speak. Quickly, David shut and locked the door, scurrying to the girl’s bedside and kneeling in front of her. “Hey, hey hey,” he hushed, attempting to reach out to her. “What happened? Did someone hurt you?” Clementine shook her head, clenching nervously at her arms and head. He had seen this before, only before once with Gabe. Kate had insisted on taking care of him. Hesitantly, David  sat on the edge of Clem’s bed and settled a hand on her arm. She flinched. “It’s just me,” he said softly, “I’m not here to hurt you.” As Clementine relaxed, as her breathing calmed, David pulled her closer into his side, his arm draped over her shoulders. “Nothing’s going to happen, okay? I promise.”
Gabe: “Where’s AJ?” The question was asked in earnest, wondering where AJ had wandered off to on Richmond’s playground. Clementine had a flare of panic but he was located almost immediately, hidden from view behind the slide. Despite this, Clem’s fears didn’t subside. The pain in her chest grew worse. She excused herself, a hand clutched to her chest, scurrying for their home. Gabe stared after her, his gut hinting that something was wrong. He trotted after her, catching her just as she entered her bedroom. “Clem?” He called, catching her door before it could close. “What’s…” his voice faded. Clem's body was small and tightly wound as she made her way to her bed. She was shaking, Gabe could see that much. When she sat on her bed, she curled her knees into her chest, hiding her teary cheeks from view. “Oh Clem,” he sat on the edge of her bed, not wanting to alarm her by growing too close. Clem’s whimpers grew louder and louder, her panic heightening. “I-I can—” “Can you stay?” She glanced up, her teary eyes peeking over her arms. The sight broke Gabe’s heart, and he instantly began drawing closer to her. “Please don’t leave,” she pleaded as he sat beside her, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her into his side. His palms rubbed at her arms, nervously allowing her head to rest on his shoulder. After a moment, worried that she would pull away, he rested his cheek on top of her. The sensation prompted a sigh from the shaking girl. Gabe could tell she was trying to force back her panic. “I got you, Clem.” He assured her softly. “I’m staying. I’m here. I got you.”
Mariana: “Who’s Lee?” The question was innocent - meant to learn more about Clementine in an attempt to befriend her - but Mariana could tell something was wrong. When Clem excused herself, Mariana waited a few minutes before following her. When she approached their shared room, she knocked on the partially-open door, spotting Clementine as the sound ricocheted off the walls. She was curled on top of her bed, laying down. She was wrapped in a blanket, her head buried and hiding. “Clem?” Mari called. “Please just leave,” Clem pleaded, voice muffled through the fabric. Mari ignored the request and drew closer, sitting on the edge of her bed. She nervously cleared her throat. “I’m not here to force anything. I’m just here to listen and be here.” At first, Clem didn’t react. After a moment of pause, she poked her out from her blanket, tucking it under her chin, breathing softly as she tried to centre herself. Mari remained there, reaching out to settle a hand against one of her arms, her presence warm, unwavering, and steady. It was exactly what Clementine needed.

Twdg/Life is Strange AU(it’s supposed to be violentine)
Another wip i had sitting around for so long, so I thought I might as well share it!
Sometimes things change.
It was a reality that no one could escape, no matter how hard they tried to keep things the way they are.
However, sometimes there are things that never change, as if they were stuck in time, the constants in the middle of many alternatives.
That’s all Clementine could think about, as she breathed in the familiar scent of Arcadia bay.
She hasn’t been to her hometown since she was a kid. She had to move away with her parents, and leave everything else behind.
She tried to keep contact with all of her friends, but then, everything went to hell.
Both her parents died in a car accident, and she was on her own, until a nice couple adopted her.
It was the darkest time of her life, but both Lee and Carley have been understanding, and never pushed her to do anything she wasn’t comfortable with. It took her some time, but she warmed up to them.
Now, here she was standing before Ericson. She worked hard so she could apply to this school and study photography.
She pulled her phone and sent a picture to her group chat with Mariana and Gabriel.
Gabe: U’re there!
Gabe: Wait
Gabe: Y are they not rollin the red carpet for u? >:/
Mari: All hail queen fruit >:D
Clementine chuckled. Of course the two would team up to tease her like this. They were her best friends, and they have been there for her when she was trying to cope with her parents’ death.
Clem: Very funny guys. I’m really nervous about this.
Clem: I wish you were with me :(
Gabe: Dude u’re like
Gabe: the coolest person I know!!
Gabe: U’ll make friends right away ;D
Mari: Wow Gabe, you’re saying something smart for once.
Gabe: Hey :/
Mari: Clem, you better not forget about us, or Gabe and I will come after you >:(
Clem: I never could.
Clem: You two coming here is tempting tho.
“Well, I’ll be damned!”
Clementine’s eyebrows furrowed, as she looked up from her phone, only to be met with a tall dark skinned boy.
He was smiling widely at her, and she tried not to squint as she looked at him in confusion.
“I would know that hat anywhere. I can’t believe you still wear it.” The boy said and took off his sunglasses, grinning widely, and she took a moment to study his appearance.
He wore a green shirt, white jeans, and the most sparkling shoes she has ever seen. There was an expensive looking watch on his hand too.
Clem took a moment to let it sink in.
His hair dreads… his somewhat obnoxious appearance… rich boy…
He wiggled his eyebrows, waiting for a response but satisfied with the slow realization that made its way to her eyes.
“LOUIS?!”
“Oh thank God, about time Clem!” Louis laughed, and threw an arm over her shoulder, as if they haven’t been apart for years. “I knew you could never forget me.” He said, and she smiled, hugging him. “Missed you too, Clem.” He said, this time softly.

arrest me anytime, officer.
Title: arrest me anytime, officer
Word Count: 1,009
Genre: Romance, Humor, Modern AU!
Pairing: Clementine x Louis
A/N: I left this platform only to be pulled back in by my sister to post more clouis content and so I guess I shall, but only by my own schedule. She was the one who asked me to write this based on off an idea she found on Tumblr and her times of being high. So, Aisha, please enjoy because it’s 3 am and I’d like to sleep.
Tumblr media
Babysitting was a piece of cake for Clementine and man, was she a pro at it. Her little brother, Alvin Jr. or AJ, was a well-behaved six year old and she was glad because that meant she could easily put him down for the night and stay up the rest of the night watching Criminal Minds while eating caramel-covered popcorn. Their mother, Carley Everett, had went out for the night with a couple of friends and wouldn’t be back until the late hours of the morning when all the bars lost their customers to hangovers and bad decisions.
Their dad, Lee Everett, was out working his second job as a police officer and had been with his children at home before being abruptly called onto the scene of a wild, out-of-control house party with plenty of intoxicated teenagers with contact highs. It was only her and AJ left at home with nothing to do but enjoy the relaxing evening of a Friday night, or so she thought.
Clementine had just finished taking a shower and started to work her exfoliation routine, applying her cocoa butter cream to her face for moisture after she had rinsed off the beaded scrub that coated her skin. Her curls, which she had previously put leave-in conditioner in, had softened and she used her wide-toothed comb to rid of any knots before braiding her bangs and bringing them back with the rest of her curls into a low-side puff.
She could hear AJ’s small and faint footsteps going back and forth between his room and the lounge area, probably trying to entertain himself before having to go to sleep in a hour.
Clementine threw on one of her father’s undershirts that went past her mid-thigh and a pair of pink satin sleep shorts that she had brought from Victoria’s Secret, feeling all bad and boujee even though she was low on funds at the moment. It was one of those nights where she had nothing to do at all and she had thought about calling Mariana to come over but she had remembered that Gabe had his wisdom teeth pulled earlier, so Mariana would most likely be on damage control duty. Then, she figured why not snack on some Fruit Roll-Ups and give her dear old dad a ring for fun because anything would beat the boredom that whelmed her.
He probably won’t pick up anyway, Clementine thought as she unwrapped her treat while listening to the sound of her phone ringing over and over until she heard a gruff voice and weird, unfamiliar noises come through the line. Did she dial the wrong receiver or something?
“Hey, sweet pea. What’s up? You and AJ doing alright without your mother for a night?” Lee asked his oldest child as he placed handcuffs on one of the misfits he had caught from the house party.
Clementine walked over to her bed and sat cross-legged while holding the box of Roll-Ups to her chest and leaning on her fluffy, white prop pillow. “Yeah, we’re fine. Mom told us the party wasn’t all that and that she was on her way to get us something to eat from Chick-Fil-A. But, I called because I was bored and I thought you’d have something interesting to tell me.”
“Well, sweet pea, I actually do. I caught a misfit kid, around your age, smoking a heavy blunt in a bathtub at that house party and I’m about to run him to the station to clear him out. That interesting enough?”
A boy, her age? This night is getting better by the moment. Clementine snorted but then had the brilliant idea to get to know more about the stoned boy in the back of her father’s cop car. “Maybe, depending on if he’s good-looking or not. Is he cute, like boyish but mature cute?”
Lee’s eyebrows furrowed as he stared at the boy and then looked at the receiver from where his baby girl’s voice sounded once more with same question but with much force than last time.
Was she really trying to find out if this boy was worth her time? He’s a stoner, a bad influence, and the list could go on but he reluctantly gave into his daughter’s request. Lee banged on the divider that separated the young man from himself and waited until he turned his head to face the front to ask him the question.
“Listen, this isn’t me asking, alright? My daughter wants to know if you’re cute, specifically boyish yet mature cute. To be frank, I don’t think you’re worth her time but what the princess wants, she gets.”
The young man, dazed and halfway dead, actually giggled and shook his musty dreads out before giving Lee the best smoulder he could while high before answering the damned question.
“I want to say yes, sir. I think I’m drop dead gorgeous, in fact, I’m stunning. I come from a rich family and I can even provide your daughter with finest and latest version of AirPods if she wanted. Name’s Louis, by the way. You’re daughter seems cute too, and hey, be free to call me son, officer because I mean it when I say I would gladly make your daughter mine.”
Clementine heard every word, a cheeky smile on her face, and her dad laughed the ugliest laugh in the history of laughs through the receiver. Louis had managed to make her smile harder than any other boy she’s crossed paths with and she hadn’t even known him for more than twenty minutes.
Hell, she never even heard her dad laugh the hard before, ever. She would have to her dad formally introduce the two of them if he were to ever show up in the station again, and Clementine had a feeling that this wouldn’t be the last time either. Louis was a case that she was more than willing to solve, and she’d be damned if her dad didn’t let her and if he didn’t….
Well then, arrest her anytime, officer.

That Something : Part 2
Title: That Something: Part 2
Pairing : Clementine x Louis
Word Count: 1897 words
Summary: Clementine has a chill day with AJ until some unexpected news causes her to make a decision.
Previous Part Next Part
A/N yes Lee ughh I love him :)
Part 2:
Clementine woke up to the sound of sirens instead of her alarm. Rubbing her eyes, she sat up in her bed. She saw AJ, still sound asleep. “At least he can get his beauty sleep,” she thought, smiling to herself. She got up and shuffled around the tiny apartment, going to the kitchen. As she was putting toaster waffles in the toaster, she heard a little voice. “Clem?”
She turned around to see AJ, in his disco broccoli pajamas.
“Hey, AJ” She stopped for a second to embrace him and ruffle his lil’ afro. “Shouldn’t you be sleeping in? It’s summer after all.”
“I want to be up with you. Can we go to the park today?” He gazed at Clem
“Hmmm,” Clem faked thinking about it, putting a hand to her chin “I’m not sure.”
“Pleeeaase?” AJ went up on his tippy toes and pouted his lips.
Clementine giggled, “Okay, I’ll ask Lee, and if he says I can we’ll go after you finish your breakfast.” She got a plate and laid out 2 toaster waffles for AJ. “Bon Appetit, Goofball.”
Lee opened the door to his room, “Ya’ll know I can hear you, these doors aren’t that thick.” he took a seat at the tiny table in the kitchen, still in his Janitorial uniform.
“I thought you would’ve been asleep, you had a long shift yesterday.” Clem added.
Lee sighed “Well, I have a longer one today. But you guys enjoy yourselves, go to the park.”
Clem looked to AJ, “Get dressed, we’ll go soon then.”
“Ok!” AJ excitedly went into their room.
Clem looked at Lee. “I’ll make some coffee.” She started scooping coffee grounds.
“Thanks, Sweetpea.”
“Lee,” Clem took a breath, “I know you don’t want me to, but I know I’m old eno-”
“You’re not getting a job.” Lee cut her off, “You’re young, you need to focus on school. And you do have a job, you take care of AJ.”
“AJ is going to school soon. I just want to help out.” Clem admitted, “I feel bad, Lee. You took us off the streets, for no reason! I mean, we’re not related but you cared for us anyway!” She sputtered. “I just want to earn it.”
Lee sighed, “Clem, you deserved to be adopted and you deserve to be cared for. You don’t have to do anything to deserve it.”
Clem hugged Lee, “I guess you’re right. I’m sorry for arguing, it’s just- I wish you wouldn’t be exhausted over us.”
Lee patted her head. “For you, it’s all worth it sweetpea. Go out and enjoy the park.”
Clem smiled at Lee, “I will.” She turned to her and AJ’s room. “AJ! C’mon it’s time to go!”
“Coming! AJ popped out of the room and darted to the front door.
“Let’s go then.” Clem said while ushering AJ through the door, putting her hat on as she stepped out the door. “Bye Lee!”
The city of Galeview was huge. Clementine and AJ lived in the rough side of town, while only a few short miles away, the city’s elite lived in luxury. Galeview was also where Ericson Prep was located.
Clementine loved her city, but since AJ was with her today, she’d stick to the safer streets. Usually, when she was alone after school, Clementine would explore a different part of the city; she’d roam the streets just because she could. Visiting her favorite hole in the wall places, such as a rooftop with an abandoned greenhouse with the best view of the city, or a skate park hidden inside a junkyard. She loved the city because she knew everyone, but was always a stranger. Everyone was going through a struggle, and there was a type of unity with the people in these derelict places.
There was one place that she found where she was actually known, and that was the Garcia Family Restaurant, where she had visited every day after trying their burgers. Eventually she became buds with the staff, the Garcias were just people she genuinely liked (she would secretly work there from time to time, waitressing or flipping burgers). She especially hit off with Gabe, playing cards in the back with him sometimes. They walked past the small, yet well maintained building, Clementine waving to Mariana and Javier who were cleaning the windows.
Eventually, they made it to the richer side of town, where AJ’s favorite park was. It had a nice swing set that even Clem enjoyed using, one in a while.
Clem was pushing AJ on the swings when he asked her, “Clem, is kindergarten fun?”
“Yes, it is AJ, and you’ll get to make new friends.”
“Why do I need new friends? I have you.” He grinned.
Clementine giggled, “AJ, you can have more than one friend. Some people say it’s good for you.”
AJ turned his head, “Clem, do you have a lot of friends?”
Clem stopped pushing AJ, letting gravity do its thing. “I have friends when it matters.” In all honesty, Clem had been a loner until she met AJ, who was for the most part her only friend. It’s not that she couldn’t make friends with people, she just never found it necessary. People at her school were cordial and all, but nobody really made an impression on her. She had other things to focus on anyway.
Clem and AJ walked home, taking a minute to stop inside the Garcia Restaurant. Javier waved them to the bar seating, where he was cleaning glasses. The restaurant was a nice Cuban/American food joint, with burgers and fries plantains and everything in between. The store was a classic diner design with Latin flare, little lights and Cuban flags around the store. A baseball game played on an old-school block tv in the back.
“Hey Clem, AJ. Coming back from the park?” Javier asked, putting his towel over his shoulder
“Yeah, AJ here wanted to see the new tire swings they put in.” Clem replied, helping AJ sit on a stool.
“Wow, must be nice to have improvements in their neighborhood. We have more craters on this street than Mars I’m pretty sure.” Javier pulled out 2 glasses. “You guys want a drink? It’s on the house.”
AJ nodded, and Clem replied, “Thanks.” It was a hot August day and even though the park was fun, it was pretty hot after a while.
Javier poured their drinks, “Apple juice for AJ and classic H2O for Clem.”
Clem asked with a suspicious smile, “Javi, why are you being so particularly kind to us today?”
“Okay, you got me.” Javi admitted, leaning onto the bar “I need a favor, Gabe’s gotten through summer school okay, but he really needs a tutor for math.”
“Oh?” Clem swirled her drink with her straw “Why do you think I’m smart enough to do it?”
“Don’t play dumb, Clem. We know you were in the top 5 percentile in your class. Gabe’s in your class and he sees you getting all those accolades.” Javi replied. He wasn’t wrong, Clem was extremely gifted in math and science. It was something she kept to herself though, she preferred to spend her time skateboarding and exploring instead of doing homework.
Javi added “Gabe’s a good student, and we’ll pay you.”
Clem thought for a minute, “Sure, that sounds pretty cool." This could be a job Lee might be okay with, since its school involved.
AJ, finishing his apple juice, asked Javier “What are accolades?”
“It’s another word for rewards, like trophies and ribbons, you get an accolade when you do something right; like for Clem, she got the highest match score in her class.”
“Oh.” AJ thought “Can I get one?”
Javi smiled, “Yeah, here’s an accolade, just for you.” He turned around and gave AJ a chocolate bar from the register.
Clem smiled “Thanks Javi, get Gabe to text me the tutoring details, but it’s about time me and AJ got home.”
Clem opened the apartment door, AJ running under her arm to their room to go play with his disco Broccoli. She saw Lee at the kitchen table.
“Lee. Aren’t you supposed to be at work?”
He looked up to Clem, almost startled. “I stopped by for my lunch break.” He looked confused. “Clementine, did you apply for a scholarship to Ericson Prep?” He showed his hand, holding an envelope with a fancy emblem, addressed from the office of scholarship admissions.
Clem’s jaw dropped, she remembered filling out a little application in her email, but she sure as hell didn’t think it would mean anything. “I totally forgot about that. What does it say?” She didn’t understand why she asked. As if it mattered.
Lee’s hands had a slight shake as he opened the letter, his eyes scanning the paper as he murmured, reading it to himself. Suddenly his eyes opened to the size of dinner plates.
“CLEMENTINE! YOU GOT IN! WITH A FULL SCHOLARSHIP!” Lee yelled, with enthusiasm and vigor Clem hadn’t seen in a long time. AJ peeked out the door from curiosity.
“That’s great, but that doesn’t change anything.” Clem replied nonchalantly
“What do you mean? You’re going to Ericson. Do you know how many doors this opens for you Clementine? You could be able to pursue anything you want!” Lee embraced her. “I’m so proud of you sweetpea, you’ve worked so hard.”
Clem shrugged of Lee’s embrace. “Do you think I could even survive with all those spoiled brats that go to Ericson? I’d be crucified. Plus, I don’t think I could keep up with them.” She had a tightlipped expression. “I’m not a part of that world.”
Lee looked at her seriously, “Clem, this could change your life forever, don’t let reasons like those hold you back.”
AJ came out of his room to find out what was going on. Clem looked at him, she saw his cute little curious expression; she noticed the tears in his jeans and how worn his little shoes were. She then looked around the kitchen, the bleak wooden cabinets, the half-working AC unit in the window, and that’s when she realized.
This wouldn’t just change her life. This would Change AJ’s life, and Lee’s. If she was able to work her way out, she could make it so that AJ could have a Christmas, and Lee could stop working himself to death. Heck, she could finally get a proper haircut instead of having Lee as a stylist.
Clem turned to Lee smiling, “I guess I’m going to Ericson Prep.” she had tears in her eyes after realizing her opportunity.
She hugged Lee and pulled AJ into it too.
AJ looked to Clem with a quizzical expression, “What’s going on?”
She wiped her tears. “We just got the best accolade a person could get. We’re getting a second chance.”
Clem went to her room and pulled a suitcase out from under her bed, it had been a while, almost ten years since she last used it. The same suitcase she had when she finally left her foster home, she was bringing to Ericson.
Clem took a deep breath and pulled out her phone. “Hey, uh Javi? I won’t be able to take that tutoring job after all, I’ll be occupied.” “What will I be doing?” She smiled, putting her hat in the suitcase.
“I just got my second chance.”

'clem's never shown interest in girls before' what girls?? we've never seen her interact with girls near her age except when she was 11 and thought romance was gross. 'but she has with boys' having a crush on one (1) boy means you are a boy-crazy het and can only ever develop feelings for boys. what are bisexuals? 'it's forced' you get the option between a boy and a girl, and then given an option to stay platonic. who's forcing you?! anyway, clem and ellie are apocalypse bi/lesbian solidarity.
e x a c t l y clem has literally not had the chance to interact with girls her age until season 4 in the game. sarah was like 15 while clem was 11 and then mariana was like 10 or something while clem was 13. and now that she can have genuine feelings for a girl her age who is clearly also interested in her it’s forced and pandering
clem and ellie be like
Tumblr media
(it always is so weird the fact that clementine and ellie wouldn’t be anywhere close to the same age if we’re going by each game’s respective timelines... Clem would be almost 40 years old when Ellie is 14 in TLOU 1

Days With You / Chapter Three
Title: Days With You  Chapter One / Chapter Two / Chapter Three
Pairing: Clementine x Louis
Word Count: 1981
Summary: Louis and Clementine try and enjoy their first official date at the movies, a familiar face manages to make things a tad awkward.
A/N: Yay it’s finally out yeyeyeeye enjoy :)
-
Louis rolled on his heels as he glanced at the confectionary stand. To get popcorn or M&M’s, that is the question philosophers ponder over. “Do you want any snacks?”
Clementine quickly shook her head. “No thanks, I don't have a big sweet tooth.”
“That’s ironic, given how sweet you are. Ba dum tsh!” He banged an invisible drum, his fingers playing the role of the drumsticks.
Clementine rolled her eyes at her boyfriend's quip. Her boyfriend. “I brought my own snacks,” She gently shook her black bag. “I’m warning you now, I did bring some cantaloupe.”
Louis dramatically pushed her away. “How can this be? I've fallen for someone who actually enjoys cantaloupe?” He buried his face in the collar of his coat, concealing fake tears.
Clementine refused to give him the attention that he so craved from her, turning her eyes back to the screen planted on the wall, the movie times glowing green. “So we're seeing Deadpool 2, right?”
“It’s only the greatest cinematic masterpiece of the decade, right after the first one of course. I’ve already seen it twice,” Louis held his head high, even if Clementine didn’t understand the magnitude of how amazing this movie truly was. “You’ll love it.”
Putting all her eggs into one Louis basket probably wasn’t a good idea, but he seemed so giddy about this damn movie, maybe it was worth it. “If you say so, I haven’t watched a superhero movie-”
“-Deadpool isn’t a superhero-”
She glared up at him, not really caring for the details of a (non)superhero who was foreign to her. “-for a while now. I prefer a good mystery movie, something that makes me think.” Zodiac, Evil Under the Sun and Along Came A Spider were some of her favourites.
“My favourite mystery movie is Who Framed Roger Rabbit.” Louis gave her an innocent thumbs up, trying to turn her deadpan expression into one of glee, maybe even infatuation? The sign of a spark?
Louis got his spark. A spark between the two which ignited an argument about who was paying for the tickets. It was a first date rule! At least that’s what Louis thought, Marlon told him to do it!. Clementine got her way in the end - as always - and paid for their tickets, leaving Louis to grab his own snacks.
“Sorry for trying to be a gentleman,” Louis mumbled between mouthfuls of buttery popcorn. “You have won this round m’lady.”
“Don’t eat it all at once, we’re not even in the theatre yet.”
Their cinema was almost empty, beside a group of young girls in the front row, giggling over something light-hearted. Louis oh-so-conveniently asked for seats in the back, and like the so-called gentleman he is, his arm was already around her shoulder the second they sat down. No fake yawn or anything.
Clementine’s sharp eyebrow raised itself, having been her friend for a long time Louis knew exactly what she was saying. “I’ve been crushing on you for centuries now, I finally have my chance,” He tilted his head to the side, reminding Clem of a little puppy. An adorable one at that. “To be affectionate.” Louis gave a quick peck to her cheek, finding a sense of pride in how she immediately went red.
Clementine hid her face in her sleeves as she leaned onto his shoulder, taking in a small whiff of his cologne. The kind he only wore on special occasions, also the kind she bought for his birthday a year ago. Not that she noticed or anything...
He pulled out a small packet of candy hearts from one of his secret pockets inside his coat, offering one to Clem. “I know they’re cheesy, but last I checked we’re not lactose-intolerant.”
“That was such a bad joke.”
“Not even.”
Clementine grabbed a pastel pink candy heart, laughing at the unique message. “You can die first.”
“Well damn,” Louis’s shoulders fell as he stared at the wall. “So much for a cute moment.”
She threw it into her mouth, her tongue tingling at the fizz. It was an immediate bad decision. “I really don’t like sweets,” Clementine dragged her teeth over her tongue to remove the lingering tang. “Try another one.”
Louis popped another candy onto his palm. “Kiss me,” His eyes lit up immediately. His head was inching closer to Clementine, that wide smile was very, very alluring. “May I?” With a playful glimmer in her eyes, Clementine shrugged. “Pretty please?” Louis continued his conquest until he got his kiss...on the cheek.
“There, now you have nothing to complain about.” She giggled at how quickly the light within his eyes faded like a candle in the wind.
“You...you absolute devil,” He mocked, biting his lip slowly. “Thank you for the kiss, Clementine.”
“You’re welcome Be-lou-ga.”
“For fuck's sake-”
“-I’m never dropping that nickname,” Clementine bit her tongue to hold back her roaring laugh. She reached into her bag and scrounged up a small blue container. “There is cantaloupe in here, you cool with me eating it?”
Louis stared at the box as if it would jump out of her hands and eat his face off. “I came here to have a good time and I’m honestly feeling so attacked right now.”
Clementine unlocked the box and threw a small piece of cantaloupe in her mouth, now this was her ideal snack. She quickly jumped in her seat as the large screen sprung to life with advertisement after advertisement playing before them.
“Let’s go buy a car. That nice man is making a good point.” Louis pointed to the young scrappy man on screen, his smile glowing like the red car beside him. Apparently, this car was somehow different from the other cars being displayed in similar advertisements.
“Louis, I already have a car.” Clementine’s truck was stable, it had been with her for years. Lee bought it for her when she went off to university.
 “Another one can’t hurt right?”
“No, it actually will hurt me and my bank account.”
Louis quickly brushed her off, she was such a sceptic. “You gotta believe Clemster. Tell you what, for your birthday I’ll buy you that car.”
“Wait no, no-”
“The movie’s starting!”
Clementine never got her chance to change Louis’s mind, his eyes were glued to the screen ahead as the film began to roll. She buried herself into his shoulder, preparing herself for the non-superhero movie ahead.
-
“So what’s your final verdict?” Louis still had his arm draped over Clementine’s shoulders, holding her close to him. The man couldn’t help it, her jacket was so fluffy and warm.
She hummed it over, weighing the pros and cons. “It was a good time, no alcohol required.”
Louis couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “That’s it? Just a good time,” He spat. “We were watching the same movie right?”
“It was fun, don’t get me wrong. I just don’t have the same attachment to superheroes that you do.” She reached into the box of popcorn and threw one into her mouth, surprised at how she enjoyed the salty taste.
“-Clementine?”
Louis and Clem both lifted their heads to the sound, she looked past his shoulder and her eyes widened. Louis couldn’t tell if it was shock, fear or both. “Oh my god,” She quickly laughed to break the tension that was already developing. “Gabe?”
The pipsqueak scratched his signature orange beanie, his eyes scanning the crumbs on the floor. “H-hi Clem.”
Clementine noticed Louis’s - she wanted to say concerned - expression. “Gabe and I went to Richmond High together, before I changed to Ericson. This is Louis-”
“-Her boyfriend,” Louis chimed in with a wide grin. “Nice to meet you.”
Oh if only he had his phone out to capture the look on Gabe’s face. Poor kid looked like he had been slapped in the face with a fish.
“How’s Mariana?” Clem cut the tension growing between the two boys. It was about to turn into a battle of testosterone. “Is she still taking those singing lessons?”
“Yeah she still does, she complains about her teacher all the time though,” Gabe chuckled. “What about you? Still playing baseball?”
“Yeah, I am. I have a game coming up in a couple weeks actually, tell Javi I’ve been practising,” He somehow hadn’t changed a bit, it was a little concerning. “I haven’t seen you at any of our games in a while.”
Gabe felt exposed, there was a reason why he stopped going, that reason was standing by beside her. “I just found something else to do, I guess.”
“You guess?” Gabe was never that good at lying and Clementine could tell, his cheeks had grown a pink tinge. “Well, we have a game coming up in a couple weeks. I’m sure Javi would like to see you there.”
“Javi hasn’t been talking to me as much lately since I’ve joined the army.”
Clementine almost dropped her phone. “You actually went and did it?” Gabe would spend countless lunchtimes talking about how he was going to be like his dad, be “like a man”. It usually ended with Ava telling him to shut the fuck up.
Gabe straightened his shoulders, no matter how much he tried to add some inches to his height, Louis still towered over him. “I’m excited, I feel like I’ll actually be able to do something, to prove myself.”
The urge to roll her eyes was growing stronger. “Yikes,” Clem whispered.
Louis could sense she was growing tired of this boy, she wasn’t the only one. He glanced down at his wrist, pretending to look shocked.
“Well would you look at the time. We best skedaddle Clemster!” There wasn’t even a watch on his wrist.
Gabe pressed his back against the wall, giving up on his power stance. “Right, it was nice to see you, Clem.”
“You too Gabe. I’ll catch you later,” Clementine gave him a single wave and quickly backed out of the conversation. “I don’t think I’ve ever been so grateful to you for anything.” She gave a loud sigh of relief as soon as they stepped outside.
“He seems…”
“Boring? Yeah, he always has been.” She grabbed her car keys from the bottom of her bag, trying to remember where she had parked.
Louis pointed the car out for her, his position as the tall boyfriend made it easy to see over the cars. “I was going to say interesting, but if you want to be blunt,” Together they marched over to the deep brown truck, Louis still called shotgun even though there was no one to compete with. “He also doesn’t seem like a very subtle person.”
Clementine slammed her door shut, contemplating what Louis had just said. “What do you mean?”
“Seriously? The guy obviously had a crush on you, I’d argue it’s still there.”
“He does not! We were just friends.” Her and Gabe? Not in a million years. Sure when they first met he was sweet, someone who seemed to understand her struggles. But he was never able to abandon the dark cloud that always hung over his head.
“He never made serious eye contact with you? Never tried to find some excuse to be alone with you, or innocently touch you-”
“Oh fuck…”
Clementine slid her clammy hand through her tight curls, her heart sinking into her chest as Louis laughed at her long-awaited realisation. How could she have been so clueless?
“That’s adorable,” He wiped a tear from his eye. “This poor man was pining after you and you had no idea. I almost feel sorry for him.” Almost.
She wanted to punch so many things right now; Gabe, Louis and herself. “Shut up! I will leave you on the side of the road.”
“I’m sorry my darling. You have to admit though, it’s kinda funny?” Louis managed to wiggle a meek smirk out of her, her shimmering eyes burning into his own.
“Okay, it is a little funny.”
“Atta girl! Always look on the bright side Clem.”

I don't understand the Clementine x Mariana ship... I mean they never even looked at each other and Mari's only ten so her being in a relationship (especially one with someone several older than her) is weird to me.

Summary: Gabe is haunted by the disappearance of his stepmother. Both him and Clementine reflect on the people they have lost. (Based on the ending where Kate goes missing)
Ao3 link: http://archiveofourown.org/works/11426061 (my user is the same as my main blog, 99runecrafting)
The sunlight pours through the glass-stained panes, tainting the walls of the church in vivid emeralds and blues. The warmth and the silence is familiar, and it reminds Gabe of what Sundays were like before: echoing hymns, Abuelita clutching onto her rosary, him restlessly fidgeting as the priest droned on, the brief glares from his dad (“Basta ya,” Dad would warn him ) and potlucks after Mass with other families.
The memories of his life before seem as worn and faded as the surface of the pew he’s sitting on. The hard, wooden surface feels almost alien -- he’d gotten too used to the lumpy backseat of the van he had spent the last four years living in. By the end of the first year, Gabe came to hate everything about that van -- he cursed the cramped space and its obnoxious shade of shit-stain brown (who fucking paints a van this colour?!). But at this moment, he wants nothing more than to be curled up in the backseat again, to feel Mariana’s head resting on his shoulder and to listen to the faint hum of the engine.
His bones feel heavy and everything ached, and god, he’s just so. Fucking. Tired.
It took nearly three days to clear out Richmond. Even with Jesus’s group and every able, available hand helping, clearing every muerto in the settlement proved to be a demanding task. Gabe had helped too, scouring every corner he could find and asking every person he came across if they had seen his stepmom.
("She has green eyes and freckles, she’s about this tall, her hair’s usually in a braid,” his voice cracks, tears spilling, “Please, I need to find her.” )
He gazes at the crumpled paper -- a rough map he drew of Richmond. X’s mark buildings he investigated, lines and arrows trace the routes he took. Notes scrawl the margins, describing the physical appearances of muertos he came across with the brand of the Frontier. It helped when other survivors asked about their missing loved ones. Gabe lost count of the graves he helped dig in the past few days. At least they can begin healing now, he figures. Not that he wishes that Kate is dead, no fucking way José. But being suspended in this limbo of not knowing where she is, whether she’s alive has been torturing him since he came back to Richmond.
Gabe barely recognizes himself when he catches his reflection in polished surfaces. Eyes red and puffy with dark bags underneath. Cheeks a little more gaunt and hollow. Sleep came fitfully and his appetite has all but vanished. He eats just enough to keep him on his feet -- any more and his stomach would reject it all. Fear is the coffee of emotions, Javi had once said. But this wasn’t that kind of fear, though, the fire that roared in his ears and rushed through his veins and kept him sharp and alert and alive. This kind of fear was an ice water river, strangling and suffocating and pulling him down.
“Gabe?”
Gabe flinches, turning his head so fast he feels dizzy. It’s only Clementine. “Oh, hey Clem.”
“Hey yourself.” She joins him on the pew. Her shoulder is touching his and Gabe is suddenly aware of the small gap of space between them. Normally, he’d run his mouth around Clementine, throwing every joke he could think of from the top of his head and praying she laughs.
(“That’s so dumb,” She remarks at his sad attempt at a pun. But nonetheless, she fails to contain her giggles. “You’re such a dork.”
“Sure it’s a dumb joke, but it’s good,” He argues, grinning, “I mean, you’re laughing, and that’s what a joke is supposed to do. So that means my jokes are good.” She rolls her eyes and swats him playfully on the arm.)
But he’s exhausted and numb and drained of jokes. Gabe only offers her a weak smile. He focuses on the feel of her shoulder against his, anchoring himself from swirling ice waters that threaten to pull him under again and allows a comfortable silence to permeate between them. The bustling sounds of New Richmond are muffled behind the heavy oak doors of the church.
“I’m worried about you, Gabe,” Clementine mumbles. “Well, um, Javi and I are,” she adds quickly.
Gabe inhales deeply, steeling himself to look straight ahead. His vision blurs. “I just-” he chokes, quickly wiping a tear that runs down his face, “Kate…”
“I’m so sorry, Gabe,” Clementine says quietly.
“And Mari,” Gabe sniffles, “oh god, Mari. And Dad… Fuck.” He furiously rubs his eyes, breathing in shakily to quell his sobs. He feels Clementine lean her head against his shoulder.
“How do you do it?” asks Gabe quietly, after a while.
“Do what?” Clementine inquires.
“Continue forward,” Gabe begins, “continue to live.”
Clementine pauses. “I don’t know,” she replies, “I guess I just… owe it to them.” She inhales a deep breath. “To everyone who’s ever taken care of me. Protected me.”
“They must have been good people.” Gabe smiles sheepishly. “I mean, you turned out good.”
Clementine smiles back, softly. “They were good,” Clementine says, “they weren’t perfect but… they were good.” She looks down at her hands. “You never get really used to it, you know.”
Losing people, Gabe fills in the unspoken words.
“I thought I was weak,” Clementine continues, “because it still hurt, no matter how many times…” She lets out a shaky breath.
There’s a long pause of silence before Gabe finds the courage to thread his fingers through hers. He glances at Clementine, who continues to stare ahead. Heat rises in his cheeks when he squeezes her hand. She squeezes back.
“It hurts because they’re important,” Gabe speaks, “because we love them.”
“Yeah,” Clementine replies quietly, “it’s what keeps us alive, isn’t it?” She sighs. “It fucking sucks, though.”
“Word,” Gabe agrees.
“We’ll find her, Gabe,” Clementine remarks, her voice low and intense. A promise.
“We’ll find AJ, too,” Gabe promises back.
