little foa icons inspired by the hades game 'bond forged' badges!!!! celebrating the @chrysanthemumgames release in two days-- so there's literally never been a better time to play it :)
hades is the king of the underworld, who presided over funeral rites and defended the right of the dead due burial. makaria is the goddess of a "blessed" death.
Redesign for Melione the goddess of ghosts, quite happy how she's turned out. I will be posting Zagreus eventually with his sisters 🪻 when I find some spare time 😊. However I hope you enjoy these two underworld sisters 🩷.
Here we finally have my finalised designs of the divine children of Zeus, Hades and Poseidon.
I wanted to combine their sacred animals into their designs, though some have the sacred animals of their parents because they didn’t have any themselves.
Hi again Jess! This is something I've been wondering for a bit about: How did Makaria react to the news of Persephone's abduction, assuming they were close? Going through the tags, I know this was something that was speculated about, so now that we know the exact circumstances, I wanted to ask again.
Well, I think her father was very careful and deliberate in the way he explained it to her. He didn't lie, but she is a child, and so he'd have put it as gently as possible and then let her ask questions about it. Makaria, of course, was very sad, especially if she'd gotten to know the PC well on her own terms.
But she was reassured to hear that everyone was on the case, and did her part by making them snacks for when they were working on the case in the library.
Fortunately for her, it was a relatively short experience overall. If it had gone on longer, I think it would have hit a little differently, and her reactions might have intensified as she began to wonder if she'd ever be able to see them again, but she didn't quite get to that point of doubting in the week and a bit the PC was actually gone.
Of course, if they chose not to return to the Underworld, that comes as a bit of a blow to her. She's never made a friend and then 'lost' them in any sense, so it would take her a while to come to terms with. Fortunately, she's got quite the extensive support network around her, and she's a pretty resilient kid!
What many fans of the game Hades might or might not know is that Hades & Persephone (or Zeus & Persephone, depending on the version) actually have 3 children.
The first one we meet in the games is Zagreus in the first game, the in greek mythology he only appears in one myth and isnt clearly credited with a domain. Although, many people do associate him with rebirth. In the second game the main character is Melinoë, who is credited with being the goddess of nightmares, madness & ghosts in Greek mythology.
The Third child we have yet to meet in the games is Makaria. In Greek mythology she is often credited as the goddess of blessed/peaceful death. It is also interesting to note that in Greek mythology, Makaria is often referred to as Thanatos's wife...yikes.
happy three years to @chrysanthemumgames !!!! as always i'm a little biased towards drawing hermes, but i love the entire cast and at least wanted to draw all of them :') and ofc, thank you jess for a game i always love and keep coming back to!!!
makaria is the goddess of a "blessed" death, a minion of her father hades and connected with the passage of souls to the islands of the blessed. ‘blessed death’ is meant ‘go to blessedness,’ instead of go to misery and utter destruction. or ‘go to blessedness’ is said by euphemism. since even the dead are called ‘blessed ones.’
