Lyra is a human who has been turned into a mermaid (siren) and is slowly losing her humanity, and her memories because of it. The only way to turn back into a human is to kiss someone with a broken heart, but that passes the curse on to the person that you kiss. A little bit of a reverse Little Mermaid scenario, but it has the important elements of a transformation, a curse involving a broken heart, and losing yourself if you don't break it.

Skylla:

sapphic little mermaid with a happy ending. what's not to love. pretty art too (it's a graphic novel/webcomic, can be found for free online (legally)). she's sweet, she speaks sign language, she's brave.

Skylla is a mermaid who falls in love with a human. Since her language just sounds like screeching to humans she is taught sign language by Corinth, the girl she falls in love with. Eventually she decides she wants to go to the surface so she can be with Corinth. She loves hamburgers and also has a feisty streak. Corinth also has a shitty boyfriend that, as a condition of becoming human, she has to kill with a knife given to her by her sisters. She ends up not killing him because Corinth ask her to, but they end up being able to be together when Skylla asks her father to turn her into a mermaid because she was near death.First of all, sign language. Second of all, wlw. Third of all, slow burn.

Pele & Tua from Siren’s Lament

The fact that these two can’t be around each other because the Curse separated them, but they do it anyway. And when they can finally hold hands once its lifted… I WAS IN TEARS!

Also the Dynamic, Pele being somewhat so untrusting of people and therefore lonely, and Tua who stays by her side and just makes her happy. He will always make her feel loved I just know it ahhhhhh

AND YEARNING??? When they’re separated??? I just… 😭😭😭😭

Frederik & Gwendolyn from Cursed princess club

When I started the webtoon I didn’t expect to ship these two so hard but… goddamnit I love them together. They had a really rough start, but with Gwen’s kindness and Frederiks development they became something beautiful. Both characters are so lovable and I really root for them to be together.

They’re both perfect as they are, I will forever love them. The webtoon isn’t finished yet but… I just love it so much!

Eunhyuk and Su-Ae from Operation: true love

Now this webtoon is fairly new, but still. This ship is everything. Eunhyuks character archetype is one I usually don’t go for, I tend to find them boring. But the author wrote him in a way that was absolutely wonderful.

His feelings for her went from annoyance to pity to protectiveness to love. He knows all her flaws, of which there are many, and I like that. I like to read about an MC that isn’t nearly perfect, that is kinda unlikable even. And to see someone fall for her is very satisfying and just adorable! They definitely earned their spot in this list.

[C'est lundi ! Que lisez-vous ?] Siren's lament

Le style de vie confortable de Lyra est soudainement bouleversé lorsqu'elle plonge accidentellement dans le monde des sirènes. Empêtrée par un sort, Lyra va apprendre que son monde est peut-être bien plus grand que ce qu'elle avait imaginé.

Le début de l'histoire est assez classique. Lyra est amoureuse de son meilleur ami, Shon, qui ne semble pas la remarquer. Tout va changer quand elle rencontre Ian. Le triangle amoureux semble assez prévisible. Néanmoins, c'est agréable à lire.

Et les dessins sont magnifiques. Certaines planches semblent être à l'aquarelle et ont un graphisme vraiment poétique. Quant à Ian, il est vraiment beau gosse et certaines images font baver...

Pour le moment, ce n'est pas un coup de cœur mais c'est agréable à lire. Je suis curieuse de connaître la suite mais je ne suis pas sûre que l'histoire arrive à me captiver jusqu'au bout.
