lunaswondrousworld What they did to Jace in this travesty of a show was the biggest crime. What they did to Alec’s hair comes second place.

What do you mean? Jace moved out of the institute and got himself a condo where he lives peacefully with Alec. His mornings start with lazy kisses followed by making breakfast for two. And after a day of traning and hunting, his nights end with a round of love making and being safely nestled in his beloved's arms.

What a beautiful ending he got after all the struggle and hardship he suffered.

#I don't know of any other ending of this show #everything was lovely and jace was never sad again

honestly i KNOW it was because of luke’s injury and they were trying to keep him in one piece but nothing will ever beat the sheer comedy of jonathan:

bringing only a knife to a sword fight

making fun of jace for being afraid of him when he was also just standing there doing nothing

getting blinded, freaking out, and basically huddling on the floor and going “shit shit shit shit shit” while clary has an epic sword fight

not getting up and running with his cringey super speed when jace and alec switch who’s holding the sword for a whole 15 seconds?

again panicking when alec says he’s going to execute him (even tho he was pretty chill when lanaia tried to do the same thing YESTERDAY)

busting wings out of nowhere because his eyeballs are flickering and knocking alec back like a pastry, then NYOOOMING up into the sky

literally only being useful offscreen its like he has stage fright

HE’S A MESS. honestly that episode i was howling like……he literally cannot do anything right, what an unmitigated disaster, i love him, someone nominate this boy for Queer Eye. “Can’t even villain right without plot contrivance” would be my recommendation tagline. All he needs is JVN to help him with the grooming and roast him a bit (not that he needs more roasting), bobby to like….dust off his mom’s apartment (and make fun of him for living in his mom’s apartment), tan to get him out of that horrific bat leather trenchcoat, antoni to inform him his cooking skills are the only thing he has going right in his life, and karamo to give him a hug and soothingly remind him of his self-worth and tell him he can be whatever kind of villain he wants to be, if he sets his mind to it.

She’s useless now because she’s not part of any ship anymore. (*I* don’t think that but that’s this show’s logic tbh).

I mean, you’re right and you should say it. That’s exactly how this show operates.

Just... looking at all of the main characters? They didn’t survive more than an episode without being pushed into a ship.

Magnus and Alec have been at it from the moment they met in like episode 2.

Isabelle’s been pushed close to Simon in season 1 to already allude toward S/zzy, while having A Thing with Meliorn, after that right into Raphael’s arms and right now back to Simon.

Clary? Jace - Simon - Jace. Literally without a break in between. I mean, the C/ace was literally how the C/imon got broken up.

For Jace, it’s been Clary from day one.

Simon? Hah. Whatever the fuck they were doing with Camille there was very sexual, then he started dating Maureen, broke up with her over Clary to immediately start dating Clary, two episodes after that break-up right into Maia and the way Simon and Isabelle have all of a sudden been spending time together really does already count as active S/zzy.

I mean, Aline lasted like one whole episode before they introduced her endgame girlfriend. Not that I am complaining about canon lesbians, I’d just like to live in the reality where I got to know Aline and Helen first, separately, before they get thrown into a ship after literally just meeting for the first time?

Raphael was just written off to Chicago after he wasn’t useful for R/zzy anymore though still close enough so we could reach him when we needed him for Expositional Purposes.

A character is not allowed to exist without a ship in this show.

But yeah, no. Maia... honestly, I am just genuinely afraid that in their need to play Noah’s Ark, they’re going to put her back together with Jordan instead of into her own endgame, considering that Bat has had like a total screentime of 4 minutes or so on this show so far??

And I’d bet that when they bring her back, it will be with the introduction of whatever endgame ship she’s gonna be on.

It’s... It’s genuinely pathetic that this show doesn’t seem to know what to do with a character when they’re not in a relationship or currently flirting to set up a relationship.

It’s not like there are literally dozens of platonic dynamics that could strengthen a character and add to their plotlines.

Seriously, I would love to see more Luke and Maia, because they talked about how he was like a father to her but we didn’t really see a lot of that. Or, honestly, the fucking rest of the pack! It’s just Luke, Maia, Bat and Russell, we never really got an actual pack feeling from that.

I’d make a blood-sacrifice for a proper Maia Isabelle friendship because I think they have such a good dynamic and are so honest and upfront with each other.

What I’m saying, I think, is that this show ships harder than fucking Glee. And that’s a sentence I genuinely never thought I’d say, but fuck is there a shit-ton of shipping here.

Let characters participate in plotlines outside of those they share with their romantic partners. Please, I am begging you at this point.

I mean. It's been a little over 8 weeks since it all started. So him still being exactly like that is actually a lot more realistic than anything else. Which is one of the reasons I like it. But yeah as of now the ONLY thing making him even somewhat sympathetic to the downworld (and even that bit is debatable) is his personal connection to ONE downworlder.

Generally I agree. After all, the point of character development is there to be a development over a period of time and not like snap your fingers and from one episode to the next Alec has done a total 180.

But given that this show’s timeline is... what it is and that it is a show, not real life, this doesnt really work for me. I mean if the writers expect me to believe that Simon went from dating Clary to dating Maia to dating Isabelle in like a month and Magnus and Alec are getting married after dating for 2 months and that the entire pile of events in 3 seasons happened in the span of maybe a little over 2 months, then they can easily sell me on Alec changing his attitude over the course of 2 seasons or so. If they wanted to. Which apparently they dont? Or dont know how to write it? Probably. Or maybe they think that one time they had Alec standing up to Imogen in defence of DWs was enough to prove he’s a changed man now and all the other stuff that keeps happening doesnt matter.

I woldnt be surprised either way.

And honestly this makes last episode’s line even weirder? Like how can they honestly write that in the episode and one (1) episode later we see Alec not only continue not to show any interest in the DW being tortured plot but use his position in the Clave to threaten a downworlder. And yes, Lorenzo was being an asshole and he was taking advantage of Magnus but isnt Alec all about “compromise” and “transperancy”? Or did that disappear along witht he cabinet meetings and that entire plot line? Again, probably.

This plot about the Clave could be the perfect chance to show how Alec (and other shadowhunters he’s supposedly influenced) has changed from s01 and 2. Show me how he’s taking Isabelle’s concerns seriously, how he’s looking into things behind everyone’s backs if he has to, how he expresses his concerns to Magnus maybe. Instead we get him acting completely passive and dismissive of Isabelle’s complains and she has to keep needling him into taking some action, he wasnt going to bring this up to Jia (and then rolled his eyes when Isabelle did), he clearly didnt plan to do anything even after finding that dead clave member last ep so ?????

I remember in s02 I was actually really happy that he kept fucking up at first because I thought, like you said, that it made sense for him to not be completely changed just because he’s attracted to Magnus. You cant erase 20 years of upbringing that easily. But then he just kept doing the same shit, treating Magnus the way he was and nothing was changing, he wasnt growing as a person or shedding his toxic beliefs or anything - he would say sorry, Magnus would take him back and that would be that. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Even something as big as the SS didnt have any effect on him whatsoever. Losing “the love of his life” didnt make him stop and reconsider his life choices. We’re three seasons in and he’s still following Clave orders like the good soldier boy he is.

And like fine, if the writers want to show how difficult it is to change yourself when you’ve been taught one thing your entire life. Show me how he’s struggling to lear better but failing and going back to what he knows and falling on his prejudices and misconceptions about DWs. But that’s not what they’re doing either. And at the same time they’re trying to sell this idea (or rather fandom is? I dont know anymore) that he has changed and he’s a better man now and again, I ask where? How?
