Happy travels! I do like to get a window seat whenever I can because I just like looking out the window at the landscape and in this case, the sunset. I hadn't realized it would be a full moon, but it sure did work out! Plus this was a trip to Phoenix, Arizona on Southwest Airlines. Though not exactly a perfect match, I think the plane's colors and the desert hues compliment each other so well. That was a nice, subtle picture by itself, but then to have the moonrise was such a blessing. Ok, to be honest - I did a little photo trickery on this shot. A little more than enhancing it, but I had to in order to make this look like I saw it. This cell phone camera just couldn't get the dynamic range of the full moon and the dimmer sunset. So I shot the pic, but in the original the moon is just way blown out - a white disc. So that very same night, I went out with the same camera and took a pic of the moon in better contrast. Then I shopped them together. No fancy enlarging the moon, or adding what wasn't really there. Just making it look like what I saw. I hope to take this flight again real soon! Hint - I'm getting ready for one right now which is why I decided to share this pic today. . Jan 2017 . Would you take this for a spin? 🤔 There really were some creative minds out there. When I first heard about the Goodyear Inflatoplane as a child I pictured it as being as simple as an inflatable pool toy but it’s name (Inflatoplane) hides some truly incredible engineering. “The inflatable surface of this aircraft was actually a sandwich of two rubber-type materials connected by a mesh of nylon threads, forming an I-beam. When the nylon was exposed to air, it absorbed and repelled water as it stiffened, giving the aircraft its shape and rigidity. Structural integrity was retained in flight with forced air being continually circulated by the aircraft's motor.
