2. what’s a fic that took you to an emotional/dark/hard place?

so i wrote an abner x reader fic set after his death that's very much depression!fic, lol. i was def dealing with a lot of grief following graduation and leaving that community behind--like how do you say goodbye, how do you move on?

spoiler for the fic: it's revealed in the very last line that he's alive and returns to the reader character last-minute. and i used a lot of religious language to describe what that feels like—resurrection, redemption, grace,—which feels... necessary to me personally as an antidote to death and loss.

...and you collide into each other hard enough to bruise, sink to the floor and weep for the reunion and for all the interim pain and for the wasted time and for all the things you will never be able to explain. you weep together. you’re not scared anymore. you want to live again. hunger drove you to eat when you were listless, love drove you to live when you despaired, and one night in a fifth-floor apartment in the heart of a dark city, there is nothing more to want, because all is made well.

9. what’s your writing process like?

answered but on a less self-deprecating note, i'm really proud of how i've a) stopped focusing on impressive word counts in the past few years, and am more focused on craft and quality; and b) actually posted over 200,000 words on ao3 since the suicide squad came out last year, holy cow. my process these days can be boiled down to "chasing self-indulgence and knowing how important actually fulfilling my own wants and needs is in my life."

17. What’s the best engagement/interaction/feedback you’ve received from someone who’s read your work?

@elrondsscribe and @aadmelioraa are guilty of soooooooo much crime encouragement on my ROP fics. it is all their fault i am where i am with my WIPs (and i mean that in the best way possible)!

19. If you could write an ideal fic, what would it include?

speaking of self-indulgence, i wanna nurture my inner child via writing the 100k+ LOTR self-insert fic i first thought of in middle school. 12-year-old me deserves it. she's gonna have a magic sword. it'll be great.

Join us in reading The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley (aka the Graham Gore sci-fi romance novel) this summer!

Whether you're an og fan of prestige classic The Terror, love book clubs, always wanted to read a romance novel about Graham Gore, a combination of these, or none of the above — join us in reading The Ministry of Time.

How does the book club work?

We have set up a meeting time availability survey to find a time that works best for everyone who wants to join.

The book comes out May 7th. To give everyone some time to get their hands on a copy, we will kick off the book club in the week of May 20th.

What are your top five television shows of all time?

This was not so easy as it seemed.

The Last Kingdom - it is obviously my number one. The story of destiny, choices, bravery and loyalty weaved around the true friendship of the main charackters touched me deeper than any other show has ever managed.

2. Merlin - the magic of this show for me was again the touching friendship between Merlin and Arthur, how it evolved from distrust and dislike into something so wholesome. Such a beatiful "enemies to lovers" story intertwined with all the important questions about right and wrong, duty and loyalty. And of course this show brought my first fictional love Gwaine. I just love fairy tales.

3. The X-files - the thrill, the mystery, the drive to look for answers beyound the reasonable and ordinary explanations, the relationship between Mulder and Scully - wow.

4. The White Lotus - just watched the first two seasons as soon as it was announced that Arnas has been casted to play in the third and I loved it. It's gorgeous. It has such a captivating way of showing that not all that glitters is gold, revealing the underlying dark currents behind all the shiny facades and laughing about how superficial, shallow, judgemental, greedy, jealous people are. OK, may be it's nothing new, but the way the show speaks about the themes it has chosen - it made me laugh and cry simultaniously. I can't wait for the third season and now not only because of Arnas but because of the show itself.

5. Midsomer Murders - I love british crime series and this is one of the first I watched. I love that the pace it sets is completely different from the fast and glittering ones coming from the other side of the big lake. I love how it takes time to reveal the relationships, to dwelve into the secrets, the tensions between charackters, how it shows the hidden currents of the society and I love it's humor and that it is set to go into depths of emotions and relationships not only between the main charackters, but also between the small ones you just meet for one single episode.

Why I like them: wish fulfillment for if i were like, 75% more confident and 100% more crazy? <3

Why I don’t: well, there are definitely characterizations out there that i don't like, but when she's fun and has agency i like it!

Favorite episode (scene if movie): birds of prey sandwich scene!!! cathy yan can do no wrong!

Favorite season/movie: the suicide squad (2021) really is the superior harley on the suicide squad movie where she gets to do her own thing and is sexy but not hypersexualized and wreak havoc with some other freaks :)

Favorite line: the whole "When your taste in men is as bad as mine, they don't just go away quietly" bit in TSS is MAGNIFICENT

Favorite outfit: oh i REALLY love her birds of prey looks... but it's gotta go to her red TSS look from the first beach scene. she looks so gooood.

OTP: poison ivy, hope it's done well in live-action someday (i've seen a few eps of the animated show and it's great!!)

Brotp: boomerang!!! and abner and cleo :)

Head Canon: she does makeovers and free, questionable psych consultations for her suicide squad buddies.

Unpopular opinion: done with joker storylines, she's her own thing now and does NOT need her ex's lousy energy fucking up the place.

Okay. So my beloved Ez [@sylasthegrim 💜] just posted their fic recs for Aemond Targayren that is filled with some of the amazing talent we have on Tumblr. This post is going to be a shout out to some of my favorites on ao3 for those who prefer that web UX vs the Tumblr app [which makes me queasy sometimes].

💜 First off, the above mentioned Ez posts on ao3. Our origins story was literally me commenting on every fucking chapter of their story Love is a Downfall [amazing] and it slowly, but surely, won them over.

💜 Literally anything by @inthedayswhenlandswerefew. Her narration is fucking brilliant, rich, witty, and, of course, angsty as fuck. [A personal favorite of mine is Now I'm Covered in You, which I have reread an obscene amount of times.]

💜@humanpurposes has the penname lolololola on ao3. One of my favorites is Hysteria, but she posted a new Florismond story that was fucking amazing [like everything she writes].

💜@barbieaemond is also on ao3. King of Qarth is her latest piece and the au idea, the narration, just every word is so brilliant.

💜 Winterwood by @lonnson is another au that mixes dark, gothic fairytales into the GRRM world in this seamless way. Her Aemond is one of my favorite literary versions.

💜@moris-auri has her wonderful stories on ao3. Read them all. Sermon of Desire was delicious, but seriously, I just enjoy everything Miranda shares with us.

💜the thing about dragons by @killergirlfuria is an isekai when the old gods of the GRRM world snatch up a soul to send back and try to stop the Dance of the Dragons. Her prose is some of my favorite, and I love the mixture she does of modern into Westeros, since the OC is from the 21st century.

💜Anything by honeydwine. Her Alysmond has set a bar that HBO will surely disappoint, but I'm okay because I will go back and reread these stories.

Again, these are just a few off the top of my head and my subscriptions.
