I wonder what my life would be like if I didnt have depression like you
I am not sure how to answer this without making this very clear: I have depression, and severe anxiety. I can not remember a moment in my life where either one of those were not at the forefront of my mind at any given time or exchange. A few things that help me through it all: First, remembering that we are all essentially gods living within a mortal shell, where the universe is only what we can make sense of and imagine. Your yellow could be my blue, for example. We all see things differently, we all have in the totality of the universe experience purely unique moments every moment of every day. You are the only one that truly matters and can prove to yourself that you exist, why let others get in the way?
Second, after years of hating myself and never feeling enough, I realized that there is no way to become a better person by hating myself. This is easier said than done, but we all have habits we despise, but we all accept that we have them. Do that with the rest of the things you hate. Toss out the concept of cringe, and just let it exist. You don't have to love the parts that you hate, but you can definitely learn to ignore them at the least.
Third, I know this isn't for everyone, but read. Read a lot, read interesting things, read boring things, read new things, read old things, or gross romantic clichés (including that disgraceful smut), and absolutely abstain from the internet. Even five minutes of reading is better than none, you can ramp up to more as time goes by. Now speaking of time...
Fourth, Find a way to force yourself to Flow, a psychological effect where time disappears and you are just one in the flow of doing something. This could be reading, playing video games, making art, or splattering paint outside, but I would suggest finding something that means you aren't online or on your phone. Human brains haven't evolved enough to handle this much amount of information and connections all the time. Give yourself a break, minimize your distractions to zero.
Finally, find the things that give you small amounts of joys, namely things that your younger self would have loved to know you have - an action figure or stuffed animal, building things with your hands, drawing or painting on the walls, going outside and climbing a tree, or far too much chocolate that you don't have to hide. That's the beauty of all of it, just live out the petits rêves (small dreams) of your younger self. They are still there, protect them, find a way to make them happy. One thing that bridges all of these together: Do the things that force you to be happy, do the things that let your create or learn new things. We are all just machines programmed for the acquisition of knowledge and experiences, give into it.

Sasunaru
1. When the House Falls Down by sowell [M, 14K, 14ch]
“When the house falls down, all that's left is to rebuild.”
2. Looking for us by fangirlandiknowit [M, 28K, 4ch]
“Being in love with your best friend is never easy, but there might be light on the horizon for Naruto... If only Sasuke wasn't so oblivious!“
3. Healing the Broken by KizuKatana [E, 132K, 23ch]
“The war is over, and Sasuke is brought back to the village after his defeat by Naruto. But he is struggling to re-assimilate into the village. As his mental stability continues to erode, Tsunade and Kakashi ask Naruto to try a different treatment method.”
4. The Worst Shift by CapturedByNoodles, KizuKatana [E, 124K, 24ch]
“A decorated officer of the court with a police record as immaculate as his badge, Naruto Uzumaki was certain he could take on anything. Even if that meant wearing a skirt, procuring a street corner, and going undercover as a prostitute... with his old high school rival as his first client.”
5. Opposite Sides of the Tracks by KizuKatana [E, 77K, 10ch]
“Naruto and Sasuke come from opposite ends of the social strata. Sasuke is heir to the Uchiha business empire. Naruto is just trying to survive childhood. But they are more alike than they realize. When both their lives get ripped apart, the bonds of friendship they forged as children explode into something else entirely.”
6. Rebuilding by KinomiAkai [E, 25K, 7ch]
“Sasuke has spent every day since the war's end trying to rebuild. It's a good thing Naruto has been doing the same, isn't it?”

“Some people are assholes. Some people are kind. It's when those are the same person that things get real confusing.”
8. Something To Remember Me By by heimai [E, 82K, 9ch]
“Every summer, Naruto visits the sleepy beach town of Oceanview. Easily the best part of the trip is the carnival, set up for three days at the end of August. As summers pass, Naruto finds himself coming back again and again to see the boy at the end of the boardwalk. First, he wants to win the game the boy runs, but it turns into wanting to win Sasuke's heart instead. For some reason, Naruto just can't get him out of his head.”

2. Waiting for the Stars by KinomiAkai [T, 6K]
“Sasuke and Naruto lay under the stars. (There's a meteor shower tonight.)”
3. I Wanna Be Yours by shcrlockholmcs [E, 7K]
“It had been exactly one year, eight months, four days, and six hours since Sasuke had left. Not that Naruto was counting or anything.
Or
Naruto attempts to build a life while Sasuke is away, only for it to all come crashing down when he returns unexpectedly.”

“Sasuke's body keeps moving on its own - even after all these years.”
8. Waiting for an Answer by KinomiAkai [T, 8K]
“After eight years of struggling, Naruto finally caves and confesses to Sasuke. But it's okay; nothing is going to change between them. Everything will be the same.
...The moment Sasuke stops bringing it up every twenty seconds, it'll be the same.”
9. thirty-five by writedeku [G, 5K]
“You,” Sasuke starts, then falters. “You still have my bedsheets on the bed in the other room. They’re not dusty. Did you know I was comi—“
Ack. “God, no,” Naruto deflects from the redness in his cheeks with the harshness of his words but he knows Sasuke will see right through him. Curse the two of them. “I just. I keep it clean. For you. In case you came home.”
Sasuke is quiet, but he knows what he’s thinking.
Ten years. You did that for ten years?”
10. stay at home dad by chai_lattes [G, 1K]
"You've got a pretty bounty on your head, Uchiha Sasuke."
"It's Uzumaki now." Sasuke said, flipping his hair out of his face. "And I'm retired."

Sometimes I remember the time in 8th grade when I got one of my older sisters to look over an assignment for me and she told me my teacher would think I plagiarised because I used so many commas, like girl I’m sorry I know how to use grammar at the ripe age of 14 😭

iBooks did a “your year in books” thing on my phone, so I went through it, and …
… baby, you think I only read 25 books this year? You think your app is the only one I read in? You think I don’t read physical books, either? You think I haven’t read *multiple* novel-length fanfics? You think I didn’t just give up on counting the shorter ones? Also, it’s December 4th—you think I’m done for the year?
Anyway, it was cute.

July 2023 Reading Wrap Up
I've been pondering starting a bookish instagram, but in the likely event I never do, here are the monthly wrap up images I made for July 2023. (If it doesn't have a rating it just means it was too short or too . . . personal? to easily rate. I didn't track DNFs on these graphics, but I DNF'ed seven books.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*sigh*
Of course, I wrote a bunch of stuff about the books here, but then tumblr ate my words. So, on the off chance you have a question about anything I read, let me know.
I might keep posting here, if no one minds and I find it easy enough to keep up with. I'm hoping to make the graphics a little less rough and ready in future.
Also, I will list the books for accessibility purposes.

continuing with my Book Haul vibes, this is my current collection of books for War Witch. It's that one-two combo of being an unrepentant bibliophile and drawing much of my inspiration for WW from history and our natural world
lots of geology and ecology - specifically for the northern front range/rocky mountain area - some Celtic myths and history (planning to expand that section heavily), some Civil War and general 1800's-early 1900's stuff. Most of my WWI resources are digital so I can't show them off lol
this also highlights the main difference between Shaoeshifter and War Witch worldbuilding: Shapeshifter is built on a mountain of Wikipedia articles and random information. War Witch is based kn academia and condensed areas of study
