From the UCLA Film & Television Archive facebook page:
Terrific news for silent film fans! A long lost Harold Lloyd short, “Luke’s Double” (1916), has been recovered by the Harold Lloyd Estate and deposited at the UCLA Film & Television Archive for eventual preservation.
The short comedy, produced by Hal Roach’s Rolin Film Company for Pathé, features Harold as his earlier, more Chaplin-esque “Lonesome Luke” character before he became an icon worldwide as the bespectacled go-getter we remember today.
The 28mm print (a film format introduced by Pathé in 1912) was originally gifted to Harold Lloyd by the George Eastman Museum in the mid-1960s. The print disappeared in the subsequent decades, but Robert Simonton recently tracked down the film and Harold’s granddaughter, Suzanne Lloyd, brought it to the Archive to join the rest of the Harold Lloyd Collection. 🎞

part one
Tumblr media
please say something, cause I've been growing lonesomer each day
Penelope threw her arms up in frustration as you walked through the front door of O’Keefe’s, “I was beginning to think you were ditching us.” She got up from the booth, letting you slide in so that you were next to the wall – across the table from Spencer.
Things with him were as awkward as ever. The two of you were like a rubber band getting stretched, every time the tension became too much, you snapped and ended up in bed together - or in the academy showers, but that was just the one time. Looking at him now, the rubber band felt taut.
“I took the liberty of getting you this,” Garcia announced, a broad smile on her face as she pushed the glass toward you.
Raising your eyebrows, you eyed the beverage suspiciously before taking a tentative sip. An undetermined liquor slid down your throat as you tried to hide the distaste from your expression. Penelope had a taste for sweet, sugary drinks, it was the main reason she usually ended up puking first at girls’ night.
Spencer noted the look on your face, discreetly sliding his glass of water toward you. Thank you, you mouthed to him, earning a slight smile in return. “So, where’s this friend of a friend that you’re trying to set Y/N up with?” Luke asked, standing at the open end of the table.
In your periphery, you saw the smile immediately drop off Spencer’s face. Feeling his eyes on you, you shifted on the supple leather of the booth and looked over at Penelope.
“He said he’d show up later,” she said, lifting her own glass to her lips and sipping out of the straw.
That was enough for you to know that it would never work between the two of you. You needed someone who was punctual. Someone who wouldn’t ghost you at the last moment. Huffing, you sat back in the seat, wondering how long you’d have to stay out before it was socially acceptable to go home.
You took about thirty minutes before asking your teammates to let you out of the booth under the guise of needing fresh air. Luke asked if you wanted to move out to the patio, but you waved him off before walking out the front door.
The spring air kissed your skin as you avoided pedestrians until you made it to the outer wall of the bar, leaning against the cool bricks and sighing.
“Are you alright?” Spencer asked, walking out of the bar, and approaching you.
Avoiding eye contact, you watched people’s shoes as they walked by – heels, sneakers, sandals. “I’m fine, Spence,” you answered simply as your heart begged you to meet his hazel eyes.
You closed your eyes as he reached out, gingerly placing his hand flat on your ribcage. “You had a close call last week,” he said matter-of-factly, referring to a shot you had taken to the chest while on a case last week.
Shrugging, you opened your eyes again, “I was wearing my vest, barely even hurts anymore.” Spencer had been on sabbatical at the time, but he still came to visit you during your overnight stay in the hospital. You were left with a gnarly bruise to the ribs, and Emily had benched you for two weeks.
Tired of your refusal to meet his eyes, Spencer hooked a finger beneath your chin, lifting it until you could make out the gold of his eyes. He looked through the window of the bar, checking for something before he tugged you further from the glass. You didn’t have the time to ask him what he was looking for before his lips were on yours in the alleyway.
Spencer Reid had a habit of kissing you like you were a last meal, with open, messy kisses that made your lovelorn chest ache.
“Garcia’s friend didn’t show up?” He asked, pulling away from you just enough to get the words out.
Shaking your head, you reached up a hand and threaded your fingers through his hair, “Nope.” You cocked your head to the side as the two of you fell into your familiar pattern, “I’m glad I didn’t agree to the date. Could’ve been a fatal blow to my self-esteem,” you told him while thinking of a good way to navigate your current situation.
He also had a habit of making your mind go blank when his lips were on you, and you almost lost it when he groaned against your mouth, “His loss.”
Your breath hitched when he used his knee to part your legs, placing an agonizing pressure on your sex as you resisted the urge to grind on his thigh.
“Hey, Y/N?” He murmured in your ear before pressing gentle kisses on the side of your throat.
Humming, you bit your lip, “Yeah?”
Detaching his lips from the soft skin of your neck, Spencer pulled away to look at you, “Thank you for not agreeing to the date.”
Your body slouched against the wall, “I can’t do this again,” you confessed. The words slipped out of your mouth too easily for it to be a lie, even if you never meant for them to come out.
Spencer took a step back, removing himself from you entirely, “What do you mean?” He asked, watching as you frantically smoothed down the front of your dress and caught your breath.
“Why do I keep doing this to myself?” You muttered helplessly, once again averting your eyes from the man standing in front of you. Taking a shaky breath, your heart pounded so violently in your chest that you thought it might burst.
Catching out at you, he firmly placed his hands on either side of your waist before you could walk away from him. “Baby, what are you talking about?” He asked you urgently.
There it was again, baby. It was like a key in a lock, causing everything to pour out of you. “I can’t stop thinking about you. Isn’t that funny? You’re there, haunting my every move, and none of me occupies even a fragment of your mind.”
Recognition flashed in his eyes as he processed what you were saying to him, “It’s me?” He said, hazel eyes flickering over your face.
“Of course, it’s you, Spencer,” you said exasperatedly, afraid of years of longing coming out in a random alleyway in the district. Tears pricked at your eyes as you silently pleaded for him to say something.
Bewilderment was pasted on his face as he opened his mouth to speak, shut it, and then opened it again. “The person. Your one person that you’d say yes to. I’m your one.” He clarified, trying to get a hold on the situation.
Nodding miserably, you reached up and placed your hand over your heart as if you could staunch your bleeding heart, “You’re my one, and every time we’re together, you’re thinking about someone else.” It wasn’t an accusation; you knew he had feelings for someone else. He had told you just as much at Dave and Krystall’s wedding. Two months ago. Wiping underneath your eyes, you gathered whatever was left of your dignity and walked away from the situation.
As you walked back to your car, you were vaguely aware of people staring at you. You knew that you had played just as big of a role in your own destruction as Spencer had, maybe even more. You never should’ve had sex at the wedding, but you had sought comfort in one another.
Fishing around in your purse, you pulled your keys out, only for them to be scooped from your hands. “Hey!” You shouted in frustration, gaining the attention of passersby as they wondered whether or not they needed to call 911 or stay out of a lover’s quarrel. Shooting daggers at Spencer, you refrained from stomping your foot in frustration lest you look like a petulant child. “Give me my keys, Spencer,” you insisted, holding your hand out impatiently.
“Not until you talk to me,” he responded. He was out of breath, meaning he had run to catch up with you – a feat in and of itself.
You crossed your arms in front of your chest, “There’s nothing left to talk about, Spencer.”
He took a moment to catch his breath before looking around, “There is everything to talk about. I have to talk to you.”
Weighing your options, you reached out for your car keys, which he let you take, and unlocked the car. “Get in,” you offered halfheartedly, wiping your cheeks before getting into the driver’s seat.
Silently, you started the drive, taking a right onto the next street. “This isn’t the way to your apartment,” Spencer observed anxiously.
You shook your head as you turned on your turn signal to merge onto the highway, “No, it’s the way to yours.”
Residences had been off-limits during your illicit affair, but each member of the BAU had the ability to get to each other’s homes. It was more of a safety concern than anything else. Since you’d never been to Spencer’s apartment before, you needed him to guide you through the lobby and up the stairs. To your chagrin, he did that by taking your hand in his and having you follow him.
Looking around once he unlocked the door, the first thing you noticed was that the space was so… Spencer. From the green walls to the stained-glass window to the piles of books, it all just seemed so fitting for him. “Sit,” he said with an authoritative tone as he made his way back to the kitchen, returning with two glasses of water.
“What do you want to say, Reid?” You said, leaning back in an armchair as you looked over at him, taking calculated breaths.
Disappointment filled his eyes, “Don’t call me that.” There was something in his eyes that resembled fear, but you couldn’t quite place the reason.
Narrowing your gaze, you tilted your head to the side and feigned ignorance, “Everyone calls you that.” You challenged, even though you supposed it wasn’t true.
“You don’t,” he responded simply. It was true, over the years you had never called him Reid. Dr. Reid and Spencer Reid, yes, but never just Reid. To you, he had always been Spencer or Spence. “When you do it, it feels so… impersonal. Detached.”
You blinked, not expecting him to have said that. Your relationship with Reid had always been personal. From back when you were just friends to whatever miscellany of emotions you had now. “I didn’t mean for it to be,” you admitted defeatedly, fiddling with the buttons on your cardigan. Although maybe you had intended to detach yourself from the situation by referring to him with a name that felt less personal.
In your periphery, you saw him looking dejectedly at you, but you couldn’t bring yourself to meet his eyes. “Will you please look at me?”
Swallowing thickly, you closed your eyes, “I can’t.” Your voice was no more than a whisper as you admitted the truth, one look in his eyes, and you’d break your heart even worse.
“At first, I thought it was easier for me to just say I was interested in someone else because I was under the impression that you were interested in another man,” Spencer told you candidly. “My idea was that I could keep you close to me until you felt ready to move on, and that would just have to be enough.”
Staring blankly ahead of you, you reached out to grab your water from the coffee table, taking small sips as you struggled to digest what he was saying to you.
You shut your eyes tightly at the vulnerability in the room, opening them to find Spencer knelt in front of you. “What I didn’t realize was that a fraction of you would never be enough, not for me.”
Burying your face in your hands, you avoided his eyes as the gravity of his admission weighed down your shoulders. “Spence,” you begged. He needed to stop. He was toeing the point of no return.
“I am so devastatingly in love with you,” he admitted. “I didn’t know how deeply it ran until the wedding, but I just couldn’t get myself to let you go.”
Spencer pried your hands off of your face, revealing teary eyes. You let your body slide off the chair until you knelt in front of him, knee to knee. Taking a deep, shuddering breath, you leaned forward and pressed your lips to his.
Quickly, he wrapped his arms tightly around you, pulling your body flush against his, “I love you.”
“I love you too,” you answered, surprised at how easily the words rolled off of your tongue. Taking your time, you slung one arm over his shoulder, reaching the other up so you could put your hand in his hair. You relished in his groan as you tugged lightly at the strands.
You couldn’t help the whine that passed through your lips as he pulled away from you. He got to his feet before helping you up, and once you were standing, his lips were back on yours.
Leading you to what you assumed was his bedroom, you felt your blood heat up as he pushed your cardigan off of your shoulders. As you reached up to undo the buttons on his shirt, you grinned against his lips.
Sat on the edge of his bed, you parted your knees and pulled his shirt from where it was tucked into his pants before fumbling with his belt buckle. Disconnecting your lips so that you could look at what you were doing, he took the opportunity to duck his head and take your earlobe between his teeth. As he nipped at the soft skin, goosebumps spread where you were bare, leaving you in need of more. More of him.
Once you got his belt undone, you made quick work of the button and zipper on his slacks, sliding them down over his hips and ass while his hands made their way up your dress. “Spence,” you said breathlessly, trying to push his pants further down. Understanding your plea, he stepped out of them entirely, kicking them to the side.
Spencer drew away from you just enough to tug your dress off of your body, tossing it off to the side and gently guiding you so that your back was flat against the mattress. You watched in anticipation as he pulled his t-shirt off, the movement allowing for the tip of his cock to peek over the elastic of his boxers. “You’re so pretty,” he muttered, the softness of the words taking you by surprise, “Always so pretty for me, baby.” He gently traced his finger over your bruise as a shadow of worry crossed his features, but it was gone as quickly as it showed up.
His words spurred you on to pull at his underwear, trying to take them off, but you simply didn’t have the arm span to do it on your own. “I wanna touch you,” you confessed, “Can I touch you?”
“I need to be in you,” Spencer answered, pulling his boxers off before kneeling in front of you, eyes widening when your legs fell open. Expertly, he hooked his fingers in the sides of your underwear, dragging them off in one swift motion and leaving the both of you completely bare.
Your mouth parted when his hand reached your wet heat and two fingers entered you tantalizingly slowly. “I thought- ah- no touching,” you complained. It was a halfhearted complaint because really, there was nothing to be bothered by.
Reaching down, your hand grabbed his wrist, trying to slow his ministrations. “You’re so responsive for me,” he murmured, continuing to move his fingers in and out of you and watching in fascination as your hips bucked off of the mattress involuntarily.
“Fuck,” You said, screwing your eyes shut as that all too familiar knot started to form in your lower belly. “Spence, baby- I’ll…” A low whine escaped your throat as he withdrew his fingers from your core. “Spencer,” you said in frustration, opening your eyes to see him inspecting your slick that had been left on his fingers.
Like a rehearsed routine, he placed his hand in front of your face, prompting you to incline your head forward and wrap your lips around his index and middle finger. As you swirled your tongue around his fingers, he watched you with an undying interest. “Good girl,” he muttered, the praise causing your sensitive cunt to clench around nothing.
Taking his hand back, you looked down as he used his now free hand to line his cock up with your entrance. Laying one of your hands at the side of your head, he used his other hand to intertwine your fingers before he pushed into you. Instead of tossing your head back like you normally would, you looked up at him, watching as he hilted himself in you. “Spencer,” you whispered.
“Are you alright?” He asked, checking in with you as he placed his free hand on the other side of your head.
You nodded quickly, “It just feels different this time.” Your heart clenched at your own admission. You weren’t using each other as an escape anymore.
Spencer hummed in understanding, leaning down and pressing a tender kiss to your lips. “I love you,” he whispered, “I love you so much.”
Your breath hitched as he tentatively thrust in you like he was testing the waters. “I love you,” you responded in kind, your voice higher than usual.
The response was enough encouragement for Spencer to keep going, he tucked his face in the crook of your neck, gently biting the skin as he set the pace. Small gasps escaped your throat every time his hips met yours.
As usual, your sounds spurred him on, seemingly trying to make you as vocal as possible, he used one hand to reach up and grope your breast. While his fingers pinched at your nipple, you wrapped your legs around his torso, locking your ankles together behind him. He lifted his head, moving his lips against yours in hurried, messy kisses that only aided the knot building in your stomach.
You didn’t have the capacity to warn him before you came undone beneath him, your orgasm coming over you as you whined into his mouth. Your walls clenched around him so tightly that Spencer had a hard time keeping his pace before it became too much.
Sighing contentedly as he filled you, you ran your hands down his back as he continued working through both of your orgasms. You whimpered as he continued fucking his cum into your oversensitive hole until your head went fuzzy, “Spence.”
He stuttered to a stop, staying inside of you for just a beat under he pulled out, causing you to flinch as you were left empty. “Are you alright?” He asked, still breathing heavily – not that you were faring much better.
Nodding, you blinked rapidly as your lungs tried to catch up with the rest of you, “I’m perfect,” you answered dazedly.
Spencer smiled at you, “You are. Perfect, that is.” He sat next to you on the bed, placing a hand on your bare hip, affectionately dragging his fingers over the skin. “You need to go pee,” he said suddenly, furrowing his brows at you.
You couldn’t help it as you erupted in a fit of giggles, resulting in an adorably confused look from Spencer. “Sorry, it’s just you telling me that I need to go pee – it’s funny,” you told him, biting your lip to muffle your laugh.
“Have you not been peeing after sex?” He was clearly appalled as if the idea of you not peeing after sex was abhorrent to him.
Rolling your eyes, you propped yourself up on your elbows, “Of course, I pee after sex, Dr. Reid,” you put extra emphasis on his honorific. “And I will pee just as soon as I’m sure my legs aren’t going to give out of me when I stand up,” you explained to him, reaching out and placing a hand on his knee.
He looked at you seriously, “You know, there are some studies that say the sooner after sex you urinate the less likely you are to contract a UTI.”
“Oh my god,” you said, “Don’t say the word urinate at me while I’m naked in your bed.” You complained, clambering up and making sure you were steady before you walked to the ensuite.
Tumblr media
Later on, you were laying in bed next to Spencer, your head was resting on his chest while he kept you tucked into his side. You flinched as a phone started ringing, you sat up and looked around for your phone. Please don’t be a case, you silently hoped as you searched the sheets for your phone.
Once you finally grabbed it, you saw Penelope’s contact flashing across the screen. Swiping the screen, you put the phone up to your ear, hearing loud music on the other end of the call. “Hey, Penny,” you said, smiling as Spencer reached out and pulled you back into him.
You adjusted your t-shirt over your skin, having made Spencer go out to your car for your go-bag so that you could have clean clothes to sleep in. He slipped his hand under the cotton of your shirt, placing his hand flat on your bare skin. You tried to greet Penelope again when she doesn’t respond.
“Hey!” Her voice chimed in through the speaker, “Where’d you go? Jason just got here!”
Frowning, you pulled your phone away and looked at the time – just past eleven o’clock. You sighed, letting your body meld into Spencer’s, “Tell him that someday he’ll find a girl with equally as atrocious time management skills as him.”
You heard some rambling on the other side of the call, and wondered how many members of the BAU made it out this late. “Okay, but where are you?”
Humming, you peered up at Spencer who had, unsurprisingly, pulled out a book to read before bed. “I’m right where I need to be,” you told her earnestly, wondering if she could hear your voice's smile as Spencer kissed your forehead softly.

— closer, clarisse la rue, pjo
Tumblr media
summary — in which, clarisse la rue can’t get enough of you, no matter how much you set her off. loosely based off of closer by RM. (media from princemick !)
pairings — clarisse la rue x black!fem!reader (daughter of poseidon)
authors note — first pjo fic.. kinda nervous 🫣 here’s my new years gift for the lack of posting 😭
Tumblr media
clarisse la rue.
whether you feared her, hated her, were intimidated by her, you knew her name if you resided in camp half-blood. she was the infamous daughter of ares, god of war. if she didn’t scare you by her demeanor alone, then she had that status and her electric spear to back it up.
and then there was you.
you were a poseidon kid, claimed early, then got thrown into the poseidon cabin to fend for yourself. it felt lonesome at times, but getting along with people like luke and annabeth helped. it was also nice having a cabin to yourself, free to decorate it however you liked!
people thought you were pretty chill, a little scary with how you come along with your powers and whatnot, but overall you were a fun person to be around.
except when you were around clarisse. you definitely got under her skin, whether she liked it or not (she was starting to).
you were quick with your comebacks whenever she had something to say, which got snickers from her siblings around her, you were good with a blade, good in war games, good in almost everything she was.
did it get to her? yes. but did she find it attractive? also yes.
you could hold your own and your friends if it came down to it, and as a daughter of ares, she found that attractive.
that was all up until percy jackson came.
did you know you had siblings somewhere? yes, but you didn’t expect one to actually make it here, much less alive, but here we were. you were a couple years older than percy you found out. his mom had died on his way here with grover, another friend of yours. all he really wanted to do was find out who his father was and why all this was happening.
you felt protective of him, and that meant feeling protective of him against clarisse.
he didn’t know but you could tell he was a son of poseidon, your brother. you felt inclined to guide him until he found his way around and got used to what his life was now.
flash forward to the day after he arrived. he was already gaining some popularity around camp because of his encounter with the minotaur. in the morning you met up with him and luke, telling him about how the day after was capture the flag day.
you were walking until a familiar brunette came into view, knocking into percy. you snapped your head towards her just as she pushed him into the dirt. “hey, clarisse, back up.” you stepped closer to her. she looked at you, and for a moment your heart skipped a beat.
when had she been so pretty?
you two ‘glared’ (admired) at eachother for a moment before she turned to percy. “so this is the kid who killed the minotaur?” you looked at percy and he locked eyes for a quick second before looking back at clarisse. he looked scared but used to it, like he’d been bullied all his life.
“you want attention around here, dummy? you better be ready for it when it comes.” she jumped at him to scare him, then left laughing, not before making eye contact with you once more.
“well, she seems nice.” percy commented. “don’t worry about her. she just has this image to keep up. she’ll leave you alone soon, i’m sure.” you told him.
did you know that? no, but you didn’t want him to have to deal with anything yet.
“why don’t people mess with you?” percy asked you and luke. “they know better. best swordsman in over a century and she can drown people if she wanted.” luke explained with a smirk.
Tumblr media
it was later in the day. the sun was still up, it was warm out, and the smell of the strawberry fields graced you. you were practing with your main weapon of choice. grunts rang in the air as you practiced on your dummy.
it was empty, which was just what you needed to blow off some steam. at least, it was empty until clarisse walked over. “you’re doing it wrong.” you didn’t face her, choosing to ignore her. you continued until a hand gripped your wrist.
“you ignoring me now?” just you ignoring her started her off wrong. she wanted you to pay attention to her. “do you need something?” you hissed at her. “i was talking to you. your forms off.” “mkay. thanks.” you went to go back to the dummy before she placed a hand on your waist to turn you back around. “you realize that could get you killed right?” she scolded. you stared at each other until she realized where her hand was and took it off like you were a hot pan burning her.
you mulled over the interaction; your waist felt tingly- you felt tingly. she was just so pretty and she was starting to make you nervous, but you had to do something.
“you willing to correct it then? since you feel like you need to comment on it.” you remarked.
this is what got her going.
you always having something quick to say, getting under her skin but in the right way.
she smirked, canines showing a little. it had your heart racing.
she went over to the dummy with a dagger that was on standby, and showed you a technique she used. “like that.” she moved to go behind you and gripped your waist again. “what are you doing?”
“relax, i’m moving you into a stance.” she told you.
was she half lying? well, sorta kinda. she was moving you, but she just wanted to be closer to you.
she adjusted your stance, then moved back and allowed you to practice. “just like that.” she told you.
“why are you helping me?” clarisse shrugged. “got bored.” “you sure you just didn’t wanna be near me?” you jokingly asked.
“maybe i did, maybe i didn’t.”
she did. she just wanted to be closer to you.

Okay, since you’re rereading the books and your up for this request, can I request headcanons with the same hades reader you wrote earlier where she meets Nico di angolo when he arrives to camp and from the moment they met, they hit it of instantly and Nico clings to the reader his entire time there, and even hangs out with Luke cause Luke is the readers bf?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was long as shit as I got carried away…oops. Not so much on Luke and Nico spending time together but more so reader and Luke talking about Nico.
The moment Nico was brought to camp, a wide eyed boy who was so full of awe and wonder and excitement, you just knew how special he was and you couldn’t help but feel a familial sense when it came to the boy.
Almost as if you knew him your entire life when in reality this was your first ever meeting the boy, but something deep down told you that you would do anything to keep this boy safe and happy for as long as possible before it would be taken away from him; after all life as a Demi-god wasn’t all glory and valour and you all had to learn that rather ruthless lesson one way or another…oftentimes prematurely.
Then again, you chalked this feeling down to you being protective towards the younger Demi-gods that entered camp but this feeling was a lot stronger then that, a hell of a lot in the sense that a older sibling would fret over their younger siblings…but Nico wasn’t your sibling…well not that you were aware of seeing as he was still unclaimed but you guessed being a child of the big three had made you envious of what children of other gods had; family. You were alone and have been alone for quite a while…
Luke, your beloved boyfriend, was able to fill that void for a while, but sooner or later the realisation of just how lonesome you have been would come to consume your every thought.
Mythomagic. You hadn’t heard of that game for quite some time but you had a deck of Mythomagic cards locked within a box, underneath one of the floorboards inside your windowless cabin. Why? They had become so severely damaged and worn with time that you were scared that if you were to pick one up, it would crumple to dust within your palm. Plus it was a sentimental gift from your mother before she…never mind.
The memory was still too painful for you to recollect.
So when you saw Nico fiddling with a Dionysus card -the weakest card in the card game- between his fingers out of nervous habit, you almost didn’t recognise yourself speaking until Nico’s dark eyes looked directly at you with excitement.
‘A Dionysus card, haven’t met anyone who played Mythomagic that genuinely liked that card, you like Mythomagic kid?’ You had asked.
‘Do you?!’ Nico exclaimed as his smile matched his dark obsidian eyes in how brightly they shined.
‘Does Hades have 4000 attack power, 5000 if the opponent attacks first?’ You quickly corrected your self as Nico moved to sit next to you under the tree. ‘Who’s your favourite?’ You added, wanting the lad to feel at ease with you despite what everyone else might’ve told him about you in terms of unapproachableness.
‘Dionysus obviously!’ Nico replied, showing you his card as if to emphasise his point. ‘People think he’s not all that good but I think his powers are pretty cool and to find out that he’s real?! Even cooler!’ He adds on as he looks down at the card as if he was debating whether or not he was going to ask Mr D to sign it. However if Nico was the type of player that you assumed him to be, he wouldn’t dare tempt the idea. ‘Who’s yours?’
‘Hades.’ You said point blankly before continuing, ‘and it’s not because he’s my father.’
‘Hades is your father?!’ - Nico near enough shouted to ear you both the eyes of a couple of campers but you shot them a deadpan glare and they were quick to go back to whatever it was that they were doing beforehand. You softened your face as you looked back at Nico and answered his question. ‘Yeah, he is. He’s not as bad as people make him out to be, he doesn’t get in other people’s business like some gods and goddesses, considering he’s got his own dealings that take presidency but he’s more accommodating then most seeing as I’ve visited him on multiple occasions.’ You finished, shrugging your shoulders, you didn’t want to add on the fact that he had even gifted you Dvir, a hellhound, just yet. In due time you would but, some people would consider that too much.
‘Wow, you’re so cool.’ Right then and there you decided that you would have Nico’s back no matter what, for he was the only one besides Luke that didn’t fear you for your father and by god was it the most reliving thing ever!
You became someone Nico felt comfortable being his true self with, and would even try to sneak into the Hades cabin whenever he needed you to give him comfort and reassure him that you wouldn’t leave him for the Hunters Of Artemis like Bianca did; despite it being against the rules and all but it’s not like you didn’t do the exact same thing with Luke whenever you needed his presence to sooth and put your mind at ease.
He even tried to sit next to you during dinner time at the pavilion, another camp rule he had broken in order to be by your side, but no one dared to speak up upon it and instead bite their tongues, seeing as you and Luke were equally challenging anyone to speak about this to Mr D or Chiron but, nobody dared to do so. Meanwhile Nico was completely obvious to it all and was showing you all of his Mythomagic figures, Mythomagic expansion packs and bestowing every last drop of his knowledge of the card game onto you, all the while you were storing it within your own head as though it was something you were going to have to use later on.
No matter where you went, Nico wasn’t far behind following you like a lost puppy. Needless to say that whenever anyone saw Nico on his own, they knew better then to try anything for you were often lurking within the shadows nearby, watching over the boy with such a fierce protectiveness whilst giving him his freedom to better aquatint himself with camp. When it came to Nico, it seemed as though you became a complete different person, you didn’t know why but all you knew was that you weren’t going to let anything harm Nico while you were able to do something about it.
‘Doesn’t it bother you? Having him cling onto you all the time?’ One brave camper asked once and in all honesty? You didn’t care that he clung to you do suffocatingly. If anything you were glad that he choice you to be the one he relies on for anything and everything, it made you feel an whole assortment of things, the main one being happy knowing that someone openly sought you out because they viewed you as someone who’s opinions are worth listening and taking head to.
Nico felt safer with you than he ever did elsewhere, which was saying something considering he was within a camp built to protect people like him but he felt his most safest with you; Someone whom he quickly began to form an attachment towards and would oftentimes find himself clinging to your side like a second shadow. So much so that Luke would playfully tease you about it whenever he saw you both.
When in actuality Luke loved the fact that Nico was so attached to you. He wasn’t stupid, he knew that even with him by your side you still felt like you were alone, and could only hope that Nico would be the one to fill in that void within your heart completely. He was also happy for Nico for having you to fall back on because there was no one in camp that he would have to watch his back then yourself.
‘He’s asleep.’ You mused, looking at Nico, who fell asleep against Luke’s shoulder and was snoring softly.
‘He’s a good kid.’ Luke replied, ruffling Nico’s dark hair as a smile appeared on the younger boys face as he readjusted himself before falling still. Still like the dead Luke once playfully commented.
‘He really is.’ You said aloud, grasping Nico’s hand upon watching it reach out for you, squeezing it in hopes of showing him that you were with him. Luke pressed a kiss to your forehead as he saw the variety of emotions that flashed through your eyes as you kept watch over the sleeping boy. ‘You’re a good influence on him babe, don’t doubt yourself, the boy practically idolises you.’ He tried reassuring you but still the thoughts wouldn’t let up.
‘What if there’ll be a time where I can’t reach him, where I can’t save him from himself and he’ll resent me for it.’ You asked, needing Luke’s guidance more than ever in your time of uncertainty. Luke pondered this for a bit before finally responding. ‘There won’t be a time where Nico would ever resent you and even if that did ever happen, I just know that he would hate himself even more for pushing the one person who had his back and cared for him like their own flesh and blood.’ He then squeezed your thigh reassuringly. ‘That and you’d dive into the depths of the labyrinth to bring him back no matter what and he knows that better than anybody that you’d endanger yourself just to save him, even from himself.’
He was right. You knew he was right. You would wholeheartedly throw yourself into harms way if it meant Nico came out unscathed and that terrified you and Luke could see this. ‘So don’t doubt yourself because if you doubt yourself then Nico will doubt himself by extension. For if the person he admires doubts themself then he would feel like he should too.’ Luke then rests his forehead against yours, his eyes staring deeply into yours. ‘I know you can guide him down the right path, be the kind of person you needed when you were in his situation, be the person you know you’d feel safe with, be his protector because I know you can. He needs you.’ He finished.
You looked down at the peacefully sleeping Nico before looking back up at Luke with a look of determination. ‘I promise to protect him and help him in whatever he may need.’
Like smirks. ‘That’s my baby.’

untouchable - trevor zegras
next part
in which, lola hughes could never date her big brothers best friend. he was untouchable in every sense of the word.
Tumblr media
going to the lake house had always been lola’s favourite time of the year. she didn’t think she could love it anymore, that was, until trevor zegras started showing up every year about four years ago.
from the second the girl saw the boy, him being 18 and her 15 at the time, she was completely infatuated.
but over the years, her infatuation began to become tormenting. her brothers had their suspicions. they all knew her like the back of their hands, so, it was completely out of the ordinary when the outgoing girl suddenly became shy and introverted every time the zegras boy was around. they found it amusing, especially since not only would trevor never feel the same (meaning he wasn’t allowed to feel the same) but he was also completely oblivious to the fact.
so, after years of torment, lola knew that this year was going to be no different. in fact, it was probably going to be worse.
her parents had decided to take a summer trip to europe, which meant that the amount of her brothers friends that would be staying at the lake house would be amplified. which meant, she was only going to become more invisible than she already was.
she was the first to arrive that summer, being able to finally drive by herself after the impossible mission which was getting her license. she had gotten frozen yoghurt from the shop just a few mere minutes away from the house and was currently sat at the kitchen table eating it whilst scrolling tiktok aimlessly, awaiting the arrival of her brothers who she hadn’t seen since christmas.
the door opened, announcing the arrival of the first hughes brother, which happened to be luke. and by the sounds of loud laughter, he wasn’t alone.
“lolly!” luke exclaimed when he saw his younger sister sitting by her lonesome. looking up from her phone, she smiled at her brother and the four other boys who were with him. she recognised one as dylan duke, luke’s best friend for like forever, but she wasn’t sure who the others were.
“is that frozen yoghurt?” one of the boys asked. the girl nodded at her head, looking down at the frozen yoghurt that she was finished with before sliding it over to him. the boy thanked her loudly before grabbing the cup and taking the seat next to her. “mark.” the boy introduced himself, mouth full of mango flavoured sorbet. “lola.” the brunette girl smiled back.
“fine, i’ll take your shit upstairs, no worries man.” ethan rolled his eyes at his friend before walking passed the two and up to where all the bedroom were. luke followed, ruffling up his sisters hair as he did so.
“god, ethan has been grumpy the entire trip.” mark complained, offering lola some of her own frozen yoghurt, to which she denied. “he turned off the radio once i started singing along, i took it personally.” dylan told the girl as he sat down on the other side of her.
“and for that, we are eternally grateful.” the last boy smiled sarcastically before also taking his belongings upstairs. “was he also grumpy the entire trip?” lola asked as she watched the boy leave. “no, mackie is in a permanent state of grump.”
lola laughed before the three fell into a comfortable small talk. they asked her questions about college, scrunching up their face when she told them she would be going to boston, they then proceeded to call her a traitor and would seek her out at every hockey game to remind her. they were even more offended when she told them that she had also gotten into michigan, but had still chosen to go to boston.
the front door had opened once more, interrupting the trios new conversation about what they wanted to do that summer.
jack entered, followed by alex and cole. lola jumped from her seat at the sight of the caulfield boy. “coley!” she exclaimed before tackling him in a suffocating hug. jack scoffed from behind the two, hating how his little sister liked his best friend more than him. “rude.”
“sorry jack, you’re so right.” lola smiled at her older brother before turning to alex, also jumping him in a hug. jack only rolled his eyes before travelling over to the fridge and opening it. “there’s no food.”
“go get some then.” lola shot back, crossing her arms when jack looked over at her with an expectant look. “but i don’t know what to get.”
“get food.” lola retorted like it was obvious. “can you go and get it?” he asked. “no, why is that my job?” lola shot back.
and alas, summer had finally began when lola and jack began to argue. the sun beamed hot and the boat swayed calmly in the water at the sound of the two bickering.
jack had stopped arguing, opting to just holding his card out to the girl. cole and alex, who saw this every year, smiled at the refreshing sight. lola eyed the card before snatching it out of his hand. “fine, but i’m buying myself something pretty.”
“we’ll come with you.” dylan spoke from the kitchen counter, mark nodding his head as they both got up from their spot. “thank you, new found friends.”
what was supposed to be a short trip to the grocery store, ended up a thirty minute food run and a two hour target adventure. lola had quickly realised that both mark and dylan were the perfect enablers to all her bad decisions. they had run around target like children without adult supervision until a worker had told them to leave.
coming back to the lake house, there were a few more cars outside and a lot more noise inside. all the boys were huddled in the living room when the three arrived back home, yelling at a tv screen which had a very intense game of mario kart playing on it.
“quinny!” lola exclaimed before jumping on the boy. quinn laughed before moving his sister beside him and wrapping an arm around her. lola loved all her brothers equally, but quinn was very obviously her favourite. “hi lolly.”
“really? i didn’t even get a hug!” jack exclaimed from the other side of the room. “i didn’t even get a hello!” luke countered. lola shrugged nonchalantly before refocusing her attention back to the screen.
“i got next.” trevor told everyone as he walked into the room. lola tensed at the sight of the boy, quinn laughing at her reaction silently. trevor glanced at the girl, his signature smile overtaking his face as he saw her. “what’s up, littlest hughes?”
she hated how he called her that. it reminded her of how he was never going to see her as anything but his best friends little sister. he couldn’t even call her by her name? really?!
“hi, z.” the girls voice was quiet, but just loud enough for everyone paying attention to hear it. those people being her brothers and mark, the estapa boy frowning at her reaction.
“babe!” a high pitched voice rang across the room as a bleached blonde, model type woman walked into the room. at the sight of one of the boys girlfriends, excitement filled lola up at the fact that she might not be the only girl here this summer. she could actually do things she wanted to do now, like get her nails done or tan.
but when trevors head perked up, and he got up from his spot on the floor to make his way over to the unknown girl, all excitement left her body. she watched intently as the two shared words before trevor nodded his head and guided his girlfriend up the stairs by the small of her back.
“whose that?” lola whispered to her older brother, who quickly took his eyes off the game to glance over to the retreating couple. “her names hayley, she’s trevor’s new girlfriend. she’s real nice, i’m sure you’d like her.” but as lola nodded her head stiffly, crossing her arms and sinking into the couch, quinn realised how wrong he was.
later that night, all the boys had retreated outside to play a game of.. well, lola wasn’t sure what it was but they basically just kicked a ball around. she had been playing with them all before jack kicked the ball too hard at her head, causing her to fall on the concrete and bust up her knees. after that, she had opted to sitting on the sidelines and watching.
she had been so caught up at quinn and luke avenging her by pegging the ball so hard at jack that he yelped every time they got their hands on it, that she didn’t even notice the boy approaching her.
“hey, littlest hughes.” she smiled up at the zegras boy, “i brought you a little something.” the boy took a seat beside her before handing her a bag of frozen peas. “stupid jack, always doing something to annoy me.” she said before taking the bag of peas. “thank you.”
she couldn’t help but gaze like a lovesick puppy at the boy, who paid no mind to the way she looked at him as he laughed at her remark.
“you know i’ll always be here to give you frozen peas when jack injures you. happens at least once every summer.”
this was true. jack had a habit of hurting his younger sister every summer, purposefully or accidentally. it didn’t matter, it just always happened somehow. one summer, he had to save her from drowning as she sprained her ankle when jack pushed her into the water. she still remembers how angry quinn was, it makes her laugh to this day. but everytime, trevor always showed up with a bag of frozen peas, whether she was crying in her bedroom or laying hopelessly on the floor of the kitchen.
“at least we got it out of the way this summer.” lola shrugged. “eh, it’ll probably happen again. you’re accident prone.” trevor laughed. lola scoffed loudly before hitting him in the arm repeatedly with the bag of peas. this only enhanced his laughter as the two began to hit each other with the same bag of peas.
“babe,” hayley approached the two, raising an eyebrow at the twos pea fight. lola felt as if she had been caught in the act, but trevor was nonchalant as he looked up at his girlfriend. “the boys want you back.”
trevor nodded as he climbed to his feet, “let me know when those ones melt, i’ll give you a fresh batch.” he winked playfully at the hughes girl before running back to his friends. both hayley and lola watched him leave with similar smiles before the blonde girl took a seat beside lola.
“hi lola.” she greeted. “hi hayley.” lola greeted back, an awkward smile displayed on her face. the two fell into an uncomfortable silence. hayley was the first to break it. “so, how long have you had a crush on trevor?”
out of all the questions she could have asked, this was the one that lola was least expecting. she almsot spit out her glass of water she was sipping on. "e-excuse me?"
hayley laughed at her response, "please, i see the way you look at him. plus, trev told me how you follow him around all summer. i think it's cute, really." lola couldn't tell if she was being genuine or not, which only make her more intimidated by the girl in front of her. "but hey, we've all been there, right?"
now, lola was even more confused. "been where?"
"had a crush on someone would never want us back."
god every word that left the girls mouth made lola's skin crawl. she wanted to punch the girl in the face, but lola also knew she was right.
"i mean, it's not like trevor would ever want you back. he's your brother's best friend and he's with me now."
lola nodded her head along to the girl's words, her mind running a million miles a minute. "i'm glad you understand that. see ya 'round." and with that, hayley was walking over to the group of boys to watch from a closer angle.
she wasn't sure if she should be mad or upset by the girl's words. i mean, everything she had told her she already knew. but she didn't need to be confronted about it. and trevor had told her that she followed him around all summer? that was probably what hurt her the most. she thought her and trevor were hanging out, but he apparently found it more annoying than he let on.
looking over at the group of boys, lola's faced etched in a large frown, she made eye contact with luke. her brother tilted his head in questioning, to which she just shook her head in response. the boy's eyes found hayley, narrowing them at the girl before flipping her off when she wasn't looking. this produced a small laugh from the youngest hughes sister, which allowed luke to return to his game with a content smile.
"hey, i brought you this." lola's eyes snapped over to mark, who was standing over her with a bag of frozen carrots. his eyes fell to the bag of frozen peas in her hand, and his smile dropped. "oh, nevermind."
lola's eyes fleeted over to trevor, who was watching the interaction with a furrowed brow. "these one's are melted anyways, thank you." lola smiled back up at mark, taking the carrots from his hand and placing the peas onto the table.
mark's face lit up as he took a seat next to the younger hughes girl. the two sat in a comfortable silence, watching the game unravelling before them.
"did you want to go get frozen yoghurt?" mark suddenly asked, catching lola off guard as her head snapped over to him. the boy looked nervous, which was so unlike the boy she saw in target today throwing weighted blankets on top of dylan to make him fall over. she smiled shyly at him, nodding her head before standing up and grabbing his hand. both of their faces heated into a red hue, as lola guided him through the house and out the front door to his car.
trevor watched the two leave, a little hurt at the disregard of his frozen peas. it was a hughes summer lake house tradition, and she had broken it for some lousy carrots.
"z! throw the damn ball, bro!" alex exclaimed. trevor rolled his eyes before throwing the ball and turning his attention to jack. "your sister just left hand in hand with that estapa kid."
"who? mark?" luke hadn't meant to eavesdrop in on the conversation, but when he heard both his sister and his best friend being mentioned, he couldn't help himself. trevor nodded his head in response. he knew how protective the three brothers, especially jack, were over their little sister, which is why he brought it up in the first place.
"mark's a cool guy." luke shrugged his shoulders, "and lola can do whatever she wants." this wasn't the reaction trevor was hoping for, but he wasn't sure why he was hoping for the opposite.
"why do you care, anyways?" jack asked, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. sure, he didn't want his sister getting into a relationship, but he would deal with that later. however, he wasn't going to let trevor, the boy he knew lola had liked for years, ruin her fun.
"i don't, man. just thought i would let you know." trevor shrugged, before walking off to find his own girlfriend.
when the boy was finally out of ear sight, jack pulled his phone out of his pocket. "what are you doing?" luke asked his older brother.
"telling lola that she better not be doing anything she shouldn't be."

"Babe, there's something tragic about you, something so magic about you. Don't you agree? Babe, there's something lonesome about you, something so wholesome about you. Get closer to me?"
Quinn’s draft day had been nerve-racking up until the moment his name was called, relief filling his lungs as the Canuck’s general manager called his name.
Seventh overall, it was a great day to be Quinn Hughes.
As their gazes collided, he was abruptly enveloped in his mother's arms. Yet, the impression of Honey's stare lingered in the back of his mind.
Something about this moment mixed with the way his best friend stared at him with such pride and love had him foggy-brained as he hugged Luke and then Jack quickly.
He made his way through his family members, thanking them and hugging them for everything before he found himself placed in front of her. She stood so prettily in a blue long-sleeve dress that matched his tie, something that Ellen had orchestrated to make their day more special.
A soft blush adorned her cheeks as she chewed on the inside of her plump lips, uncertainty filled her as she searched for the perfect words but was met with a silent cry of happiness as he pulled her into his chest. It was the perfect moment in his eyes. Every important person in his life at his side and the girl he loved most whispered short affirmations of her pride in him into his ear.
In the tender hug that followed, a sigh of pure contentment escaped her lips as his face found comfort nestled in the crook of her neck. "I'm so proud of you, Q," she whispered. Quinn, overwhelmed by the weight of unspoken feelings, could only manage a subtle nod, his voice lost to the emotions building up within him.
Instead, he expressed his gratitude with a kiss pressed against her blushing cheek before slipping his jacket from his shoulders and gently draping it across hers—a silent testament to the warmth that existed not only in fabric but in the shared moments of vulnerability and pride.
Jack looked at her knowingly as she fixed the jacket that sat on her shoulders, his arm wrapping around her shoulder as they along with the rest of the Hughes family and friends watched the oldest walking up to the stage to shake hands with the members of the organization.
Loud cheers erupted through the arena as he slipped the blue and green jersey over his head and onto his frame. A smile found its place on his face as he looked to the photographer in front of him taking his photo before exiting the stage. But not before looking back at the crowd, finding his family, and giving his best friend a little wave before heading toward the media booths.
★★★★
"No tired sighs, no rolling eyes, no irony. No 'who cares', no vacant stares, no time for me."
Honey ran her fingers through her tangled wet hair, the salt water causing the ends to curl. In the radiant embrace of summer, Honey blossomed into a picture of beauty. Quinn thought she was the most beautiful thing to walk this earth.
His heart stammered in his chest as her fingers stopped playing with her hair and moved to his, her fingers fixing the mess of damp hair that sat atop his head. Breath got caught in his throat as her fingers stopped playing with his hair and moved down to fix the dainty gold chain that hung from his neck, a draft gift from Honey's family, that he had yet to take off since she put it on him in late June.
It was now August, meaning that decisions were being made, and Quinn was being pressed into either returning back for his sophomore year at Michigan or moving across the continent to British Columbia to fulfil his dreams.
Quinn found himself standing at a crossroads, where the lines of destiny branched into two possibilities. One path beckoned him toward the path of his future, whispering promises of a professional athletic career. The other held the allure of youth, freedom, and the silent melody of unspoken confessions that he had yet to complete.
Summer's gentle touch adorned her, the radiance of her smile, lingered for mere seconds before a frown wove its way onto her expression. "Have you made a decision yet, about school?" she whispered, the words carrying both curiosity and an awareness of the timing.
She understood that the weight of such a decision wasn't something he wished to face at this moment, yet the curiosity that danced in her eyes revealed the undeniable urge to be in the know.
"I think I'm gonna wait another year, they said it was up to me, and I just think another year would be better for me," he watched as she tried to contain the excitement that was clearly written on her face. "Makes sense," she said in a sad attempt at being straight-faced, which he immediately read through as her grin got the best of her.
"Not that I don't want you to go fulfill your dreams, but I want you by my side for at least one more year, I'm selfish," she said repositioning herself so her head could rest against his shoulder, "I don't know what I would do without you Q" "You'll be just fine Hun, I'm never really gone, just a quick call away," he smiled as she moved momentarily to press a kiss to his sunburnt shoulder.
The awareness stayed in the space between them– Quinn would always be a simple phone call away from a decision that could alter the course of their lives. The potential of the forthcoming adult world loomed, yet there remained a precious promise of one more year. One more year to soak up the unbreakable bond that made them inseparable.
Honey and Quinn adopted a silent vow to make this final year, their sophomore year, an era of memories
★★★★
"Honey, you're familiar like my mirror years ago, idealism sits in prison, and chivalry fell on its sword. Innocence died screaming, Honey, ask me I should know. I slithered here from Eden just to sit outside your door"
In the warmth of his dorm room, Quinn found himself mesmerized by the allure of Honey's kisses. Since the moment their lips first connected, an insatiable hunger had taken residence within him, fueled by her intoxicating adoration.
"I think I'm in love with you," he confessed, the words a tender murmur as Honey laid her head against his bare chest. Soft breaths escaped her lips, creating a gentle rhythm with the beat of their hearts. In the quiet intimacy of their entangled limbs and sheets, she smiled against his skin, a silent acknowledgment of the emotions that words could only begin to express.
Her fingers traced circles on his skin, and she sat up, her gaze meeting his with a soft intensity. "I know I'm in love with you," she declared, her words carrying the weight of certainty, she leaned in to press a less gentle, more passionate kiss to his chapped lips.
★★★★
"Babe, there's something wretched about this, something so precious about this. Where to begin? Babe, there's something broken about this, but I might be hoping about this. Oh, what a sin"
There was something so tragic about being in love with someone who lived so far away.
The ache of longing manifested in her final kiss, a sweet torment as tears welled in her eyes. She desired relief in his arms, her face buried in the curve of his neck as she mumbled about calling whenever he felt. "I swear Quinn, you call whenever you need to talk, even if you think it's something dumb wanna hear about it all," she mumbled as he smiled into the crown of her head. "Thank you, Hun," and with that her fingers gripped the soft cotton of his sweater, and his hands traced comforting patterns across her shoulder blade, a silent reassurance echoing through the tender touch, as they swayed back and forth.
With a heartfelt whisper, words of her adoration for him were followed by sad murmurs about how she would miss him. As he pulled away, the lingering warmth of his lips on her cheek, oblivious to his brothers' groans, left an unforgettable mark. "Thank you for everything Hun," he smiled a genuine expression of love on his face.
With one last squeeze, he began to make his rounds of goodbyes to his family, leaving Honey with a promise. "Go have a good rest of the semester, I'll see you in a few weeks, and then we have all summer together," he affirmed.
As he hugged his little brothers, Honey stood, both anchored and adrift, in the thought of their shared moments, eagerly awaiting the summer.
★★★★
"To the strand a picnic plan for you and me, a rope in hand for your other man to hang from a tree"
"Date night?" Quinn nodded to his brother as he stole a quilt from the hall closet and draped it over his arm, "You're so in love, it's unbecoming," the comment earned Jack a glare as Quinn shoved the blanket into a bag. "That's a really big word for you J," he poked back which gained a laugh from Jack. "I'm just saying, you are fulfilling your dreams and you get the girl, it sounds like it's gonna be your year," Jack teased, savouring the chance to poke fun at his older brother, but instead of pressing any more he left to go and bother Luke instead.
As Jack retreated, Quinn stood there, quilt in hand, fully aware that this was in fact his year.
Honey got his car, the engine humming with potential, a cooler bag of dinner nestled by her feet, as she leaned over the center console, planting a kiss on his cheek.
"Where are we going?" "I don't know," Quinn admitted honestly, his eyes reflecting the spontaneity of the evening, "we could go to the park, or that little clearing outside of town."
His gaze lingered on the girl beside him, her hair woven into loose braids and the bridge of her nose adorned with freckles and a hint of sunburn.
The words "outside of town" escaped her lips like a secret shared between the couple, "It's more private," Honey's whisper hung in the air. Leaning in, she sealed the idea with a passionate kiss, leaving Quinn momentarily breathless.
Quinn, hand now on the wheel, felt a combination of excitement and dizziness. His other hand found its way to her thigh as they set forth on the road to the outskirts of Plymouth.
It was Quinn's year, and he was sooo in love.
★★★★
"Honey, you're familiar like my mirror years ago. Idealism sits in prison, and chivalry fell on its sword. Innocence died screaming, Honey, ask me I should know. I slithered here from Eden just to sit outside your door"
In the quiet embrace of nostalgia, Quinn found himself lost in his old Instagram posts, scrolling through the old captured memories that he hadn't looked through in years. The images that appeared on the screen told tales of life, their life together. Each photo was a snapshot of a chapter he had lived alongside her and were the moments that had sculpted him into the person he would become today.
With baby Maeve cradled in his arms, a symbol of the present and the future, Quinn's heart warmed at the stark contrast between then and now. Fifteen years had woven into a prosperous life of experiences, and as he looked up from his phone, he saw the picture-perfect scene unfolding before him. His wife, snug on the couch, sharing a bowl of popcorn and M&M's with their other two children as they watched old Disney movies
In this snapshot of domestic bliss, Quinn realized just how full of love his life had been. Quinn's heart swelled with an appreciation for the present— Honey and their babies were his everything, and in that quiet living room, surrounded by their shared history, Quinn cherished the beauty of his life.

Summary
"What are you going to do with all the money?" Rafe followed you to the store that he didn't even know it was there. Stores in the cut were a new world to him.
"What are you talking about? I don't have any money" You said grabbing some apples and peaches.
"I know you do, or you will do" He reached your lower back trying to gain your attention but you slapped his hands out of it.
"Don't touch me. Rafe I swear to god I don't know what are you talking about. Are you high or something?" You tried to look to his eyes to see if they were dilated but they were the normal blue and tinted green as always.
"I heard my dad talking with one of his lawyers yesterday" he looked straight to your eyes to try to see if you were lying to him. You weren't. "Your mother is dead, and she left you all of her wealth"
Nothing ever happened. No gold, no cross, no El Dorado. Everything followed the normal course. Except for you. Your mother died, not that you actually care. She never raised you. She never appeared until now when apparently she was rich and left you all of it. You didn't want to know anything about the money even though you needed it. And if it wasn't for Rafe, you wouldn't even check the numbers on your bank account. He has a plan, a plan that he would do anything to achieve even if he has to use you.
Pairing: Rafe cameron x reader.
Warnings: use/mention of alcohol, mention of drugs, smut eventually but will be labeled. Violence (jj's father) Ward is still a bad father. 18+ MDNI!

Pt.1
Your house was a complete mess. Your dad has been lingering with Luke for three nights in a row, drinking, smoking, and maybe doing some lines (not your dad at least), but the mess they left was nothing in comparison to hurricane Agatha. The living was teared apart, and the fridge was empty. You'll never leave the house again even if JJ begged you.
You took a bag that you found in the closet and sighed at the sight of your home. Luke and your dad have been missing for two days at least, and that was the last footprint that they were alive. They'll come around, They'll always do. Meanwhile, you'll have to eat and buy supplies.
You passed around your old car, the one you begged your dad not to sell, the one that brought more problems than solutions, but the one that you clung to it with your life. JJ had promised to come by to help you fix the alternator, but since his dad was in your home, it was better for him to stay away.
Following the sidewalk along the street, you passed in front of the most deplored house in the cut. As in every town, they were places in places, the cut in general wasn't a bad place to live but there were parts of it that you would never allow yourself to visit. Barry's for example.
Luckily for you, your nearest store wasn't in the bad part of the cut.
You entered the small store that had everything you would ever need for a few days, some fruits, maybe pasta and tomato sauce, and something to drink. It would be just you in the house, at least for a couple of days.
The timber that announced that someone was entering the store sounded behind your ears. You were in the first aisle, near the door, grabbing and smelling some of the fruit with your basket hanging in your arm.
"Hey," a clear voice that you would recognize anywhere appeared from behind. Your mind was playing funny tricks. There was no chance that he was there.
"Rafe?" You turned around mesmerized. Rafe in the cut was no good. Rumor has it that he made some mistakes and ended up getting in Barry's radar. Totally his fault.
"Did you get it?" He asked straight. You glanced at his tall figure and returned to your task, finding the most juicy fruit in the store.
"Mm, I'm not sure I'm following," you said plainly, walking around the huge baskets of fruits.
"What are you going to do with all the money?" Rafe took one of the apples and bite it, making an annoying sound. You looked at him in disapproval.
"What are you talking about? I don't have any money, " you said, grabbing some apples and peaches and also grabbing the apple half bitten from his hand to put it in your basket.
"I know you do, or you will do." He reached your lower back, trying to gain your attention, but you slapped his hands out of it.
"Don't touch me. Rafe, I swear to god I don't know what you are talking about. Are you high or something?" You tried to look to his eyes to see if they were dilated, but they were the normal blue and tinted green as always.
"I heard my dad talking with one of his lawyers yesterday." he looked straight to your eyes to try to see if you were lying to him. You weren't. "Your mother is dead, and she left you all of her wealth"
Now you fully turn around to face him. He was expecting some kind of reaction, but this wasn't what he imagined. You looked astonished, like a million of thoughts were running through your mind in a second.
"You okay? You didn't know?" He asked emotionless. Like he was really surprised that you didn't even know. He never saw you with your mother. He had known the woman. She was a close acquaintance of his dad. You looked liked her.
"I don't know how to feel..." You said slowly, forgetting who was by your side but regaining notion in a bit. "Not that you care anyways"
"Well, now that you know, what about we do some business" He let out a charming smile, and you looked at him stunned.
You reached in your basket the half bitten apple and threw it to his chest.
"The fact that i didn't know her doesn't mean that you can be a pig about it, show some emotion and respect you asshole" you walked quickly to the next aisle praying that he would stay behind and hopefully left the store. You were wrong.
"Okay, I'm sorry. No need to throw stuff at me" He was wearing a nice white polo shirt that now was stained with apple juice and saliva. "Think about it, it's a great opportunity for the both of us, your money my mind..."
"Let me stop you there" you said putting some pasta and tomato sauce in the basket. "There's no 'both of us' because it's not going to happen"
"Just invest your money with me goddamn it" You were railing him up in a way that not many people could.
"Invest? With you? Like in drugs?" Your left brow lifted, and he rolled his eyes. "Look, there's no money. My bank account now has two digit funds. If you can make us rich with ten dollars, then be my guest, but not today, buddy. I'm buying shit to eat"
"Don't you realize what I am telling you? You are filthy rich even more than-
"Stop it," you interrupted. "I'm not rich and If I was I would put my money were I can see results not in somebody's hand to end up in white powder that's going up your nose, now leave me alone, it's too late for you to be around here"
You walked to the register and paid to the chashier. Rafe was slowly coming from the aisle to approach you again. You could feel your eyes rolling on your skull.
"You are going to give in eventually," he murmured, right behind your ear.
"Here," you pressed two dollars against his chest, his reflex was quick to grab the bills before they were in his feet. "That's all you're going to get from me"
Given the previous events, you expected that Rafe followed you to your home to keep pushing his idea to your brain, but he didn't.
Your situation with Rafe was there. You weren't friends with him, but he wasn't a total stranger to you either. He just existed. Being Sarah's brother made you see him more than often. When you were with Sarah in Tannyhill, Rafe made his appearance glancing towards you and then disappearing until late night when you were about to go home, crossing your paths at the door.
Since you weren't a troublemaker like JJ or John B, you were actually invited to Kook's parties (Sarah doind the job) you refused most of the times but sometimes, when you got really bored at home, you made your way and enjoy partying with them. You didn't believe in Kooks vs. pogues shit.
Rafe was always in those parties. He always kept an eye on you even when you didn't notice. He always found you intriguing, and now that he had the opportunity to find out what you were hiding in that friendly facade, he wouldn't waste it.
You got home around ten. The moon was showing your path to go back to your home. It wasn't different from the other homes around the cut, but growing up, you started to look after it more than everyone else around the neighborhood. You understand that not many people have the time to arrange their gardens or clean the outside, and honestly, you didn't have the time either, but planting some flowers and tidying up the porche was something that you could find your peace on doing it.
You opened the door in your house and immediately flipped the switches on. A muffled yellow hair appeared out of nothing, scaring the shit out you
"JJ!" You dropped your bags out of the scare. "Why didn't you turn on the lights you psycho"
"I'm sorry, i thought you were asleep," he said, coming to you to grab the food from the floor.
JJ was your best friend since you were kids. Your parents, Luke, and your dad were friends and practically raised both of you together. Both with different antics, obviously, that's why every time Luke was around, you warned JJ to not come near your house. Your dad was just a man who only had a daughter and his problematic best friend and at the end of the day he ended up getting tangled in his troubles leaving you behind. You were born just for your dad to share a moment with his best friend. You didn't mind, you had JJ with you.
"Cool, I love green apples," he said, biting one of them, taking you out of your thoughts, reminding you of your encounter with Rafe. You shouldn't tell him.
"Have you seen your dad?" You asked.
"Yeah, he's in the house... your dad is there too, " you exhaled, letting go a weight in your shoulders you didn't know you had.
"Help me with the house, and you can stay," you said, placing the things in the fridge. "I'll make food, and we can watch a movie"
JJ jumped to one of the kitchen tables, hitting his head with the shelf that was above him.
"Can't," he passed his hand in the bump in his head. "John B is waiting, we're going fishing tomorrow morning. We have to find the equipment.
You rolled your eyes. It could be a lie just to now help you.
"I'm serious," he lifted his pinky to you, swearing.
"Fine," you said. "It's your loss, I was going to make pasta"
"I'll bring you fish so you don't have to buy it from Heyward," he said, jumping off the table. "You can cook it for the pogues"
They loved your cooking.
"We'll see," you said, fetching every beer can from the floor to put it on a black bag. "Be safe and please return with all your fingers"
JJ came to hug you real quick and kiss your head. He was like a brother to you.
"How would you enjoy yourself without my fingers, right?" He said, flirting to you.
You pretended to gag.
"Gross," you said while he pinched your side poking his tongue out while exiting your house.
You ended tying up until 2am. It was pretty late, but the house was clean on the inside. If somebody asked you, you would definitely prefer spending your summer by the pool drinking iced tea, but you couldn't. The image of being surrounded by a big house and a pool reminded you about what Rafe said. Was it true? Were you rich? You couldn't. If your mother had passed, the attorneys would've noticed you, and they would make you go to their office and read some kind of will. They would've reached you.
You went to your dad's room and opened the closet, looking for all of the papers he had from your birth day. The story he always told you was that your mother didn't want you, but he convinced her to continue with the pregnancy, promising her that he would leave her with you under his arm, more like a ham than a baby.
You grabbed a folder with your name on it and started flipping the pages, searching for your mother's name. You knew about the existence of the folders but never had the curiosity to find more about your mother until now.
Grabbing your phone from the back pocket of your short, you started typing your mother's name in the search bar. Results popped up quickly.
"Respected lawyer dies at the age of 47 in a car accident in the Bahamas"
The news was from only a week ago occupying the headline from the digital paper.
She died. A weird discomfort bubbled up your throat. Exiting the browser in your phone, you tapped your bank app and put the password waiting for the main page that said that you only had ten dollars left to appear.
There it was, your ten dollars in your main account.
But under it, there was a new one with more zeroes that you could count.
Shit. Rafe was right.

Author's note: Here she is, the first part. I would say it's part 1 and what comes after it's a 1.5 part because I think that there's no much Rafe here. I SWEAR that he is coming. This is just the beginning. What can you expect from this? I think some sappy, fluff, smut eventually shit but it's coming at its pace, so be patient. I have to build the mc well enough for you you enjoy it. Also there's no love triangle between rafe, main character and JJ (he is just a good friend) and yeah I hope you enjoyed 💖

Where they are dating and one of the boys comes across them in a compromising position in one of the bedrooms at a party as they’ve been gone for so long and no one has seen them but they are just making out and Luke and yn are so into it they don’t even realise someone walked in and then back out 😂😂”
summary: in which y/n and Luke get so caught up in each other that they don’t realize they got caught.
warnings: umm a heavy makeout sesh but no actual NSFW
notes: i hope i did this request justice! i tried to keep this as PG-13 as possible. this was my first Luke writing and i’m so excited to have had the chance to write this! disclaimer, this is not proofread and was written in about an hour.
Tumblr media
i stood in the kitchen of hockey house, which was in the midst of throwing a big end of the season party, with Duke and Ethan, talking about our summer plans.
if you’d asked me 2 years ago, never in a million years would i have thought my best friends would be jocks. i always thought athletes were stuck-up assholes. but then i met Luke. it was in my first week of freshman year at University of Michigan, and i was trying to find the library, when i bumped into Luke. literally. i was studying the campus map in my hands and ran straight into him. even though it was my fault, he apologized profusely and offered to show me to the library. we talked on the way there and hit it off, from there we became fast friends. and then fast forward a few months later and we were dating. now we’ve been dating for a year and a half, and his friends have become my friends.
“hey, lover boy is hardcore staring at you.” Ethan juts his chin out toward the entrance of the kitchen and i look over to see my boyfriend leaning against the wall, staring straight at me. i quickly excuse myself from the conversation and make my way over to Luke. He smiles at me and my heart flutters in my chest. god, i love his smile. i love him. period. i set my half empty solo cup on the counter as i walk past it, and reach my hands out to Luke. when i reach him, he captures both my hands in one of his, pulling me towards him so i end up pressed against his chest.
“hey, pretty girl.” i barely hear his whisper beyond the loud music, but when his words register in my mind, i grin up at him.
“hi, love.” i press a kiss to his chest and place my hands on his hips, tilting my head up to look at my 6’2 boyfriend. “what are you doin’ over here all by your lonesome?”
“i was waiting to snatch you from Eds and Duker. you fancy an escape to the upstairs world?” i catch onto the hidden meaning in his words almost immediately, the thought sending an excited shiver down my spine. i stretch onto my tiptoes, snaking my hands up his body to latch them onto the back of his neck, pulling him down so my lips are by his ear.
“always with you.” i whisper. he pulls back and smiles at me once more before taking one of my hands in his and leading the way up the stairs. when we reach the top of the steps, he pulls me down the hallway opening the door to his room and gently nudging me inside with a hand on my lower back. i giggle at his urgency and spin around to watch him shut the door, not bothering to lock it, as no one usually comes up here during parties.
Luke glances up at me with lust filled eyes and grabs my hips, pulling me toward him so our bodies are flush against each other. i wrap my arms around his neck, pulling his face down to meet my own. our lips lock in a passionate kiss, messy yet gentle. when i pull away, our chests heave with our labored breaths, and he walks forward, forcing me to walk back until my knees hit the edge of his bed and i fall back. i giggle once more and crawl backwards up the bed until my back is leaned against the headboard, before he joins me. our kiss is continued once more, and in the midst of it, he pulls me onto his lap. i let out a small gasp into the kiss and he takes his chance to run his tongue along my bottom lip before he dips it into my mouth, turning this into a full blown make out. i let a small moan escape as he moves his kisses away from my lips, trailing down my jawline and onto my neck, suckling the soft spot by my collarbone. he groans into my neck as i shift on his lap, and i pull his face back in my hands and catch his lips with mine once again. i hear a faint click and my brows furrow, pulling back, i look at Luke. Lips swollen and hair messy, he looks beautiful.
“did you hear something?” i ask through panted breaths. he shakes his head, shrugging his shoulders.
“i didn’t hear anything.” he replies. i shrug and start kissing my way down his jawline, leaving open mouthed kisses on his neck. he shivers when i reach the spot behind his ear, and i smirk against his skin. i feel a smack against my ass before he speaks again. “i felt that smirk, little devil.”
i pull back, laughing, but it doesn’t take long before we’re back to our heated kisses.
**
eventually Luke and i call it quits, my lips sore from overuse, and head back downstairs. but when we reach the bottom of the stairs i realize the lack of music, the living room no longer filled with bodies.
“what time is it?” i ask, and Luke pulls his phone out of his pocket, clicking the power button.
“1:58am” he replies. my eyes go wide and i cringe. we’ve been upstairs for at least two hours. i hear a clang in the kitchen and we make our way over to see the guys all stuffing trash into bags.
“hey, when did everyone leave?” i speak up, and they all look at Luke and i, smirks on their faces.
“about an hour ago. so glad you guys stopped sucking face so you could join us.” Luca laughs and i feel blood rushing to my cheeks, blushing. “traumatized poor Duker when he came up to find you for a round of truth or dare.”
the guys all laugh, except for Duke, who avoids eye contact and flushes red. my eyes go wide and my face heats. i look over at Luke, who wears a proud smirk and just rolls his eyes. he spots my embarrassment and wraps an arm around my shoulders, pulling me in so my face is hidden in his chest.
“i knew i heard something.” i mumble against his pec, but he just chuckles and squeezes his arm tighter around me.
“eh, we weren’t doing anything to be ashamed of.”
