Cabin three - Percy Jackson
Request: nope Pairing: Percy Jackson x Apollo!reader Summary: You're late for archery class, and the entire camp immediately assumes you're missing Warnings: like one swear word Word count: 1k A/N: yes I know Jason, Frank, and Hazel are at camp Jupiter but I wanted to include them so I did <3
Leo hadn't seen the camp in such a state since the last time a group of campers came back from a quest. Normally, it's not this chaotic. But today people are running around, exchanging nervous glances.
His fellow campers were just as anxious as Leo was. You'd think things like this happened often in a camp that was almost always being threatened in some sort of way.
But despite how small this may seem, it surely felt bigger than that.
A demigod was missing.
There wasn't even some pissed off god threatening the camp. Or an army marching toward New York. No other campers were on a quest.
In fact, the summer had been considered a quiet one - as fas as that could go for camp half-blood.
But when you didn't show up to archery class, people started to get worried.
You'd been around longer than most of the campers. Everyone knew there was no way you'd leave without telling anyone. Even if something was wrong, you would tell someone, right?
Leo had noticed you were acting differently since he arrived at camp two weeks ago. Something about your behaviour had changed, though he couldn't place what exactly. Whatever was going on, they needed to find you. Fast.
Being one of the older campers, people tended to trust you. Most of the new campers felt comfortable and safe around you, which led to you giving most of the tours and the younger kids coming to you with their issues if they didn't want to go to their cabin's head counselor or Chiron.
So naturally people started to worry when you didn't show up. Especially since you loved teaching the younger campers archery basics.
Leo is tapping an irregular pattern on his leg as he's walking. It's hard for him to stay still, and it's even harder when he's anxious. Leo makes his way towards the cabins, hoping to find some more people who could help him find you.
Upon arriving at the first cabin, he spots Jason and Frank.
Leo jogs the last bit to catch up.
'Hey, guys, any sign of her yet?' he says.
Jason shakes his head. 'We were just about to see if Percy can help with the search as well.' he says.
'I'll join.' says Leo.
Together they head over to cabin three, and knock on the door.
It takes Percy a while to open the door. When he finally does, it is obvious he just woke up.
He's wearing a pair of sweatpants, an old shirt that exposes part of his stomach, and his hair is a mess. Percy rubs his eyes, leaning against the doorframe.
'Yeah?' he says sleepily.
'Percy, we need your help.' says Leo. 'Y/N is missing and we can't find her anywhere.'
Percy frowns, running a hand through his hair, messing it up even more. 'Y/N is not missing.' he says.
'Yes, she is, I just told you can't find her anywhere.' says Leo.
'No, Leo, she's not missing.' says Percy, stepping aside. 'She's right here.'
Leo, Jason and Frank peer inside, and see you fast asleep, curled up in Percy's bed.
Before any of them can speak up, Percy is walking up to you, lightly nudging your shoulder.
'Y/N/N? Hey, wake up. Y/N?'
You stir softly, still half asleep. You mumble something Percy can't hear well.
'Hey, baby, you're supposed to give archery class, remember?' says Percy softly.
'What time is it?' you say, your face still hidden underneath the covers.
'Almost nine. Class started about an hour ago.' says Percy.
Your eyes fly open. 'Oh, fuck.'
You quickly get up, nearly knocking Percy over in your haste to get ready. You absently wave at the three boys in the doorway as you make your way to the bathroom to get dressed.
A few minutes later, you emerge again, looking around Percy's cabin.
'Percy, have you seen my-'
You cut yourself off when you see Percy smiling down at you, holding your boots in front of you.
'-boots.' you say. 'Thank you.'
You sit don on the edge of the bed to put them on.
'Meet you at lunch?' you say and Percy nods.
You smile at him and kiss his cheek. 'See you later!'
Leo, Jason and Frank all look at you with dumbstruck looks on their faces as you move past them. They seem to be too busy thinking about what they just saw to be able to move.
'Morning boys.' you say. 'I don't suppose any of you thought about bringing my bow and quiver? No? I'll get them. Frank if you want to sit in on this class you gotta hurry.'
You reach the archery fields a couple of minutes later. You apologise to the class, who seemed to have found the bows and quivers by themselves. You had to admit, they weren't doing a bad job. It appears you've taught them well.
Since you arrived late, you let them practise on their own for a while, helping out wherever you can. After they've all gone to their next class, you put the bows away and collect the arrows.
You spend some time shooting a few arrows of your own when you catch movement out of the corner of your eye.
Percy has joined you to watch you shoot. After a few bullseye shots, you teach Percy how to shoot. Or rather, you try to.
It's clear that his skills lie with sword fighting, not a bow.
When it's almost lunchtime, the two of you head over to the dining pavilion. You avoid being bombarded with questions by Leo, Jason, Frank, Annabeth, Hazel and Piper by going straight to your cabin's table.
You'd deal with their questions about you and Percy after you've had something to eat. You're glad you've avoided them, so you can have lunch in peace.
You sit down at the Apollo table, ready to dig in to your lunch.
'So, Y/N.' says Will. 'You and Percy, huh?
A/N: If you want to request something, make sure to read my house rulesHere’s the list of characters I write for. Everything that I have written can be found on my masterlist. Please don’t repost my work, as I spend much time and effort on it!! Thank you for reading! Much love, Max/Marit

the same type of blue. | percy jackson x daughter of hera! reader.
a / n : the history book on the shelf, is always repeating itself. and i won't shut up about how logan lerman and his wife being sally and poseidon in my head
warnings : emotional, i can't warm up to paul im sorry, sally and poseidon should've been an endgame but idek how, mentioning past, you looking like sally, crying, some of the hera cabin power mentions that i had in mind
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the moment sally jackson met you, was the moment she saw her teenage self in your eyes.
you were this funny and bubbly girl who was too nice for your own good. you had these mother instict in you that later she found out it was because of your mother being hera. you would always say what type of marriage you imagine with percy and how many kids do you want. one boy and one girl, doesn't matter who's the older. the girl was going to have percy's eyes, but the boy will have yours.
and it always put a smile on her face to listen you talk about your dreams so comfortly to her. because she saw herself in those dreams. they were once her dreams too.
percy looked and acted too much like poseidon for sally's own good. he would unknowingly make his dad's jokes, and would call you 'darling' like he did to her back then. all these little details would remind sally her past love.
it was a barbeque day for the jackson-blofis family at the montauk cabin. where you were obviously invited, and poseidon, obviously was not. he liked to show up in family gatherings once in a while, to spend some time with his son or suprisingly, estelle.
you and sally prepared the table as the boys made the meat while laughing at something. paul and poseidon had this awkward friendship that always made you giggle. and percy would chat with his biological dad more often, since he felt more comfortable with him. don't get me wrong, he loved paul. all of you loved paul. but poseidon's warm energy made him easier to talk.
you never thought you'd have a dinner with a god but here you were, eating a meal with one of the most powerful gods ever existed. poseidon was really good at making people forget that he's a god, the one that rules the seven seas.
after the dinner, percy and you started to clean the area as paul went inside to watch this new game he followed, you didn't really paid attention. sally stayed outside, smelling the sea's calming scent, her bare feet dipping in the sand.
she looked over were poseidon and estelle was playing. he made sand castles with her as he laughed like a true grandpa. it made sally chuckle too, seeing him acting all fatherly with her daughter.
"he wants to make up for it," you said, and it made sally slightly jump. you apologised while putting a hand on her shoulder. "you know, since he couldn't look out for percy and you."
sally's eyes started to water up, but she managed to crack a smile. "how do you know this?" she asked. you shrugged, "i can feel a parent's feelings, even if they're a god. weird power, i know." you chuckled at the end with her.
"he didn't had any choice," sally muttered, looking at the sea again. you nodded. "i know, but he still feels bad. he really loves you sally, still like the first time." your whispering words made sally want to breakdown right then and there, but she only sighed.
"baby!" percy called behind you, smiling like a little kid. you both turned around as you made your way to percy, giggling. once again, it reminded sally the good times. but she wasn't alone this time, poseidon could also see the similarities between them. how you had sally's hair back then like how she used it, and how percy was a literal copy of himself.
sally sat next to poseidon as he sat there silently, watching his son and his girlfriend chase eachother around the beach, just like he and sally did. estelle was asleep in his arms, the calm energy he radiated making the girl fall asleep immediatly.
"they're just like us." poseidon whispered, not looking at the woman he still loved. sally smiled, not that he would see. "yeah. but a better version." she responded.
"one that ends happily unlike us." he agreed, too afraid to look in her eyes. sally didn't said anything, and the past lovers watched their son having the time of his life with the girl he loved.
suddenly percy lifted you up on his shoulders and ran into the water with you, still being clothed. you whined the moment you swimmed up. "percy it's not fair!" you yelled at him between your giggles.
"m' wet too baby, see? there's nothing unfair in this!" percy laughed with her, hugging her waist tightly so that she won't slip away.
"you used to do that too," sally whispered to poseidon, smile hurting her cheeks at this point. poseidon mimicked her facial expressions as he nodded quickly.
"and you would always whine like her." he chuckled, making the woman laugh along with him.
percy stepped out from the water with the help of the waves, still holding you in his arms in bridal style. while he made his way into the cabin, he spinned you around once in a while to make you laugh.
"he's really your son." sally chuckled, watching the couple enter the cabin.
"he's our son." poseidon corrected. he finally faced the woman, and saw the tears perking in her eyes through a smile. this was sally jackson, the woman he loved the most. smiling through everything.
he made the tears go away with a flick of his hand, too afraid to touch her. "a proof that our love was real, not a dream i had."

how would you do a percy jackson adaptaion?
okay, so I know this is a controversial opinion right off the bat: I really don’t think it should be an animated series.
A large part of the appeal of the series is that it’s a fantasy series set very very firmly in reality. Literally, apart from the camps, you could go to every location hit in the books. Riordan mentions specific streets, buildings and landmarks, and that was cool when I first read them. I remember being a kid and waiting for him to set a scene in a place near where I lived! I remember trips to New York and being able to envision an epic war happening in the streets. So I think any adaption needs to be live action just to keep that same feeling alive, while I’m not knocking on animation, I just feel like taking the story out of real life would make it loose a little of the charm. Like, the scene where Manhattan is completely frozen in time? It would be haunting to see that in real life, but I feel like it would be less impactful if it didn’t…you know…look real? The series should be done in a way that makes you truly feel like you could just turn a corner and walk straight into a snake woman going about her day.
Now: another large part of the appeal of the series is how funny it is, but a lot of that…is Percy’s inner monologue. He doesn’t actually voice most of it, there was even a book where Annabeth described him as being quiet. So, I think the best way to work around this: make it Interview With A Demigod.
Imagine it’s got an interview with a vampire-esque setup- and this even works because within the riordanverse, the books canonically exist because Percy sat down with a ‘camp scribe’ and had his quests recorded. So, like, this isn’t even entirely out of left field. But just imagine, a college-aged, maybe a little older Percy, I can see it so clearly in my head, he’s wearing a sweatshirt that at first glance looks like it says NYU but a trained eye will see it actually says NRU for a camp jupiter easter egg, he’s sitting in some dinky little diner (maybe it can even be a monster donut or something with a clever greek myth related name) with a guy who’s recording the conversation on some old-ass tape recorder that keeps acting up but they can’t record on a phone because of the whole technology thing. Every now and then it’ll cut back to them to get some great Percy thoughts out there. They open with older Percy saying the ‘look, I didn’t wanna be a halfblood’ and then explaining where he was when the whole mess started. Once he get’s to “was I a troubled kid?” the screen fades from older Percy to 12 year old Percy getting in a fight with Nancy and her gang, and the voice over says the ‘Yeah, you could say that’ part as we see him get threatened by the principal to behave on the field trip. Boom, we’ve got an opening. Lowkey….I’m seeing Jordan Fisher as older Percy, but I’m not 100% married to the idea.
And before anyone tries to argue that showing an older Percy would spoil he’s not gonna die in last olympian- like, reading the books, we all knew he wasn’t going to die. It was a first person narrative and he was consistently speaking in past tense lmao like we Knew he was gonna make it. We still enjoyed the series. It won’t ruin anything.
I want part of the score of the adaptation to be instrumental versions of songs from the musical, I think that could be a sweet nod to that team.
They really need to nail camp halfblood. I know that goes without saying, but in order to keep the pacing of the story decent we can’t spend as much time falling in love with it like we got to with the book. The book is like, 24 chapters and the quest starts at chapter 12- for a movie or tv show, that’s just gonna feel like it’s dragging. So, the insanity of the camp needs to smack you in the face right away, and then it needs to endear itself to the viewers quickly after that. Don’t try to ease the viewers (or Percy) into the mythology is real thing, rip it off like a bandaid. He’s on his way to meet Chiron and Mr. D for the first time and even if he’s not comprehending what he’s seeing, there’s nature spirits and harpies all around going about their day. Hestia waves at him and then disappears into the flames. Hecate kids can be seen casting a spell on the porch of the Hermes cabin. The Stolls are seen pranking some Aphrodite kids. He sees someone surely die on the climbing wall but then you hear a faint ‘I’m okay!’. The Apollo kids put a rhyming curse on another cabin. Pure chaos all before he gets the ‘so, gods are real’ speech. And then after that…show how warm Luke is to him at the cabin and at dinner. Show the kids all goofing off at the campfire and really make it clear that they’re children. Show the strawberry fields rolling in the wind and Percy sitting on the beach. The whole couple weeks where he’s searching for powers and learning greek and latin with Annabeth can be a montage. Make it clear how hurt and scared he is when he finds out he needs to leave.
It needs to really get you feeling how Percy’s feeling, every laugh, every tear, every moment of fear or confusion needs to shine clear through. Like…think of Spider-Man Homecoming, the Washington monument scene. All things considered, it’s not the most high-stakes scene we’ve ever seen in that franchise, and when it cuts to the kids in the elevator, they’re worried but not quite freaking out, but that scene feels very high stress to watch because the movie is good at getting the viewers to feel what Peter feels. A Percy Jackson adaptation needs a touch like that, because Percy’s a very emotional kid and that’s what a lot of the scenes hinge on.
Lowkey- I’d love it if the casts of both the previous movies and the musical had cameos or bit parts (the movie cast did Nothing Wrong, it was the rest of that team). It’d be hilarious to see, like, Jake Abel as the owner of the poodle, or Logan Lerman as Older Percy and the reporter’s waiter that keeps trying to get in on the conversation, or Brandon T. Jackson as a satyr who’s still stuck grooving out in the Lotus Hotel and Casino. Kristen Stokes as a nature spirit, Chris as one of the ghosts stuck in the waiting room of DOA Records, just like any of those casts having small parts would be fun and sweet.
There should be a lot of easter eggs for the bigger riordanverse. Promotions in the background for the new Tristan McLean movie. Gabe’s got a true crime documentary about the missing Grace children playing during his poker game. Mr. D is reading a paper about Rachel Dare’s father’s newest project. At some point while they’re still in New York they pass the Kane family’s mansion or whatever it was called. Annabeth keeps a picture of little her and Magnus on her nightstand. The barest of hints about the Triumvirate. Seeing kids in camp jupiter gear in some background shots, just out of notice of our main characters but implying the camps are going through similar problems (BITCH….if we got a titan’s curse adaptation…and we had a shot of Thalia in the foreground….but in the background we saw a blond boy in purple with a golden sword….well I would simply loose my Goddamn mind).
And show us how easily the mist lets things blend in, too- like, everyone thinks ‘Monster Donuts’ is just a normal chain, it’s just on an average street block, but if Percy looks through the window he can see who’s behind the counter. Show someone swindling some guys in a park and you have to look twice to realize he’s a gegeines. Like…how people are still trying to find all the background ghosts in haunting of hill house. I would LOVE to see a bunch of background monsters and mythical beings just going about their day as much as the mortals are while the gang’s questing.
The effects need to be fun. The whole story needs to be fun, but one weird thing about the past movies are that like…in their attempt to make it gritty, none of the fantastical things happening on screen actually felt that exciting. We need bright colors and interesting choices, consistently cool action shots, a liveliness that makes you feel like you’re in the center of the action. I have absolutely no doubt Disney easily has enough funds to pull off great effects.
The characters need to be….in character lmao. Annabeth needs to be cocky and bratty with the skill set to justify it. Percy needs to be a sweetheart who pretends to be hardened because that’s what people assume he’s like. Grover needs to have dry humor and a Too Old For This Shit attitude whenever percabeth start bickering. Luke needs to be nice and friendly but in a specific way that you can look back after the betrayal and see he was trying to groom everyone. Sally needs to be loving, protective and strong. Chiron needs to feel defeated and determined at the same time. Mr. D needs to….be Stanley Tucci lmao
Also, I’d love if the adaptation could expand more on things that got brushed along in the books- Percy and Beckendorf’s friendship, Silena and Clarisse’s dynamic, make Nico’s crush on Percy a little more obvious, give Rachel some more development. One thing that haunts me about the books is Sally never found out that Gabe hit Percy. Absolutely they don’t need to make the abuse explicit, but I also personally feel like a lot of Percy’s mindsets throughout the series are somewhat a result of Gabe, and I’d like if that got, you know, acknowledged. Maybe in the scene where he figures out Gabe abuses Sally he could say ‘does he hit you too?’ or something to that effect. They could also go more into detail about Annabeth’s family, give Zoe some more depth….like the possibilities I’m screaming.
Okay this is already long and I’m getting tired but I can so clearly see a great adaptation in my mind….Disney please come through….It’s what we deserve….

Pure Blood 2 (Sirius Black x Fem!Oc)

A/N: Now, meet Perseus John Black-Singh. I couldn’t resist casting Logan Lerman, he’s so beautiful. -Val

1980
“Hey, Sirius.”
“Hi, Jenna,” He greets with a frown. "Uh, Persephone isn't-"
She raises a hand, stopping him.
"Can I come in?"
Sirius nods, stepping aside. They both sit in the living room of the apartment.
"I don't mean to be rude, but what are you doing here?"
She sighs.
“I waited for Persephone to not be here. This is not easy, but I didn't want you to hear it from someone else.”
"What happened?"
"It's Regulus,” She looks him straight in the eye. "What was the last you heard from him?"
Hearing the name of his younger brother Sirius feels a strong pressure on his chest. He understands why Jenna doesn't want Persephone here. Whatever the news are, he knows it won't be good for her and the baby.
"He joined the Death Eaters, as was his plan," He answers uneasily. She nods. "Just tell me, Jenna."
“Well, he achieved his and your parents' goal. He became a great member of the Dark Lord's followers. Some say that it’s close to him, but,” She fidgets on the couch. "I'm so sorry, Sirius. He died.”
A huge lump forms in Sirius's throat. The news these days are rarely good but he wasn’t expecting this.
“Shit," He says with difficulty. His breath hitches and feels his head spin. He closes his eyes for a few seconds, trying to control himself. “How— how did you find out?"
Although she and Sirius have never been close, no one deserves to go through all of this.
“He’d been missing since last year. The Death Eaters knew he was dead, but did nothing about it. Moody got that information.”
"Missing? Don't you know where the body is?"
"Sirius, please don't get hopeful. No, they haven't found the body, but it's been over a year now. You know that now that doesn’t guarantee anything.”
"How do you not want me to if—”
"What would you do? Go get him? Nobody has an idea where he might be and if he hasn't shown any signs this year, what makes you think he’ll come back? " She knows that she’s being very hard on him, but for that very reason is why she offered to break the news. If any of her friends did it, they would end up with some crazy plan, or if it was some authority, Jenna knew that the first thing Sirius would do would be to disobey. "You have other things to worry about, Black."
"It's my brother, Jenna,” He answers through clenched teeth.
“Yes and I’m very sorry, but there’s nothing you can do. Persephone needs you now more than ever. Your baby’s coming soon and I don't think she’ll allow you to go out on a risky mission right now."
"I can't stand idly by.”
"You must do it. For the sake of your family. Think of your son.”
The place remains in a tense silence. Jenna hopes Sirius doesn't do something stupid, while he struggles on what he should do.
"You're right,” He whispers.
Jenna takes his hand and squeezes it.
Feeling helpless, Sirius's eyes fill with tears. He holds Jenna's hand like his life depends on it. She lets him cry, she doesn't know what to say or do. After a few minutes, he wipes his face and breathes calmly.
"Will you tell Persephone?"
He shakes his head.
“I don't want this to affect her now. I'll talk to Remus, maybe after we have the baby, I don't know. I don't know what to do— I, uh…”
“Don't worry, it's okay. No one from the order will interfere in these matters. I took care of this.”
"Thanks, Jenna,” He smiles sadly at her.
All of this reminds him of the time he was told the news of his uncle Alphard. Him without being able to do anything, not even make a dignified funeral. With another person notifying him of the tragedy. Both in the wrong places, he can't help but feel chills at the thought that the most important people in his life were alone at that moment. And no one could say goodbye.
"Can I ask you a favor?"
"Sure"
“I want Reg to have a headstone in the same cemetery as my Uncle Alphard. I don't want him to stay with my parents."
"I can do that.”
"Thanks. I know it's a lot to ask, but now I have to ask permission for everything…”
"I understand, Sirius. You don’t have to worry. That's what your girlfriend's best friend is for.”
That makes them laugh a bit, until the apartment door opens.
"Sirius, you won't believe what we bought!" Persephone walks in, Remus at her back. They both have several shopping bags on both arms.
Sirius wipes his face completely, gets up from the couch and walks over to his girlfriend with the best smile he can do.
"Tell me everything, love,” He kisses her lips and brings a hand to her belly.

1991
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" He frowns.
I was scared.
"I wanted you to know what it is to have a normal life.”
His gray eyes look directly at me. Damn, he's just like his father.
“But it was never normal, I have never been normal. Everyone at school says so.”
"They don’t know what they say. They tease you because you're different, but it doesn't mean that's bad, my star. Besides, you're always going to face those taunts, both Muggles and wizards,” I grimace. "They'll always find something different in you to use against you, but—”
"I must not let them affect me, I know,” He rolls his eyes.
Smartass.
“Exactly,” I laugh.
"So, I have magic?" He says.
“Yeah, but it's not like in the movies, darling. It's not that you can manipulate everything with your hands. You need a wand, books, the teachers will teach you to control it…”
“A school for wizards. Cool.”
"Aren't you upset anymore?"
"I don't know,” He shrugs. He thinks for a few minutes and then smirks. "Does this mean that I’ll never see my classmates again? Nor Harry?”
Oh, no.
“You’ll no longer go back to that school, but you’ll still see Harry. He’s a wizard too.”
"What!?" He screeches. "Why? It's not fair, why does he always have to be everywhere? Who else is?” He crosses his arms.
"Uh, Harry, your uncle James, Remus, Andromeda, Dora, Jenna, Apollo, Jane, your cousins,” I look at him as his brow continues to frown. “Me."
"No, that's not true. I've never seen you do magic.”
“I had to hide it from you. Wait. I told you all those names and you just distrust me?"
"Sometimes you tell lies, mum.”
"It's not true,” I say offended.
"I know you forgot Uncle Moony's birthday, and you went to buy his gift when you said you were going for more soap," He says raising an eyebrow.
"That was different.”
"Who ate the last slice of the Phoenix cake?"
“Apollo."
"You had chocolate on your cheek.”
"Okay! Those were little lies, but I also have magic.”
“Show me.”
Now I raise an eyebrow.
"Why don't you look in the mirror, kid?"
His eyes widen and he runs to the bathroom.
"My hair is blue!" I laugh. “We're wizards!" He squeals excitedly, but his smile doesn't last long "Dad is too?"
"Yes, he is " I smile tensely at him.
“He studied at holwarts too?"
“Hogwarts," I correct him. "Yes, we were both there.”
"Wait, do you think he's in the wizarding world? I can look it up!”
The knot in my stomach tightens.
“Percy, we've already talked about this. He doesn't want to be found.”
“But—”
“Please."
He sighs.
“Okay," He says, looking down.
It hurts to see him like this. Telling him that his father is far away was not a good idea, but at that moment, I didn’t know what to say to him, despite having a plan. I couldn't just tell him that his father had died. I just can’t.
“Hey," I clear my throat and take his hands. "You should know more about the magical world.”
"What?"
"Well, in the school there are four houses and depending on your aptitudes, they’ll choose you in one of them, it’s like being in a team with the whole school,” He watches me attentively. "They are Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Gryffindor.”
"Which one were you on?"
“Slytherin, and your father in Gryffindor.”
"What do I have to do to get elected to one of them?"
“You'll know when you arrive.”
“Mum,” He complains.
“No, I won't screw it up. I— uh, there is something else,” I try to sort my ideas. "All houses have their history and Slytherin is not the best of all, but don’t get carried away by that. It doesn't matter where you stay,” I smile at him. “What matters is who you are, okay? I want you to continue being the same clever boy as always.”
"I can do it.”
I nod.
"Do you remember the story your Uncle Apollo told you about our family?"
“Yes."
“Well, it's all true, only with magic. The Singh have been very important wizards and witches in the wizarding world, almost all of them were in Slytherin… Listen, maybe someone they will recognize your last name and they know very… uh, scary stories about them. I just want to warn you of what could happen.”
"Don't worry, Mum. I'll be fine.”
"Okay, but if you need help, you know your cousins are there too,” He nods. "Okay, I think that tomorrow we can buy your books and everything you need,” I tell him, handing him his letter.
“Great," He’s about to leave, but he returns scared. "Can you return my hair to normal? I like blue, but not in my hair.”
I roll my eyes. I’ll never understand why Sirius and Perseus care so much about their hair.
“Done."
He sees his reflection in a pot and sighs in relief.
***
"And now everything’s ruined by Perseus,” says Harry when we reach his side at the station.
“I’m not excited to see your horrible face, four-eyes.”
"A beautiful day to take the train, isn't it?" James says to then hug me. I laugh corresponding.
"Do you have everything you need, love?" I ask Harry. "Your father can be very messy.” I raise an eyebrow at the man.
After witnessing the two Potters wanting to buy everything, distracted by pretty things in Diagon Alley, I had to help them.
"Everything on the list, Aunt P.”
"And a little more,” adds James sharing a giggle with his son. I roll my eyes. "Harry, why don't you introduce Ron and Perseus?"
"No, I saw him first. Perseus can get his own friends.”
"Harry," James says in a more severe tone.
“Fine."
"I don’t need his friends, surely he’ll be just as stupid as him.”
“Percy!"
"Fine!" He growls.
They both walk towards a red-haired boy along with a lady and a little girl.
"You know they don't have to share everything, right?" I tell James as the two of us watch our sons interact.
“Yes, but I've already given up on their friendship. So, I decided to have fun watching them fight,” He answers making me laugh.
"So, Ron?"
"The Weasleys. I think I heard that last name at school, but we never met them, their parents Molly and Arthur, they have seven children, counting Ron."
"What?"
"I know,” He laughs. "They seem like good people, and the boy was nice.”
“Okay…"
The whistle is heard throughout the station, all students must board the train.
"Ready?" I tell James and he nods.
When the two boys return, I ask Harry to come over and James does the same with Percy.
I crouch down to his level.
"Okay. I just want to tell you that I’m very excited that you are finally learning the truth about magic and that you’re starting your classes at Hogwarts,” He smiles at me. "We both know that things won't be easy with your whole story," He nods. “But, I want you to know that if at some point something happens, you can write to me. Hedwig will know where to go. If you have a problem, or just want to talk to me, don’t hesitate to do so, I’ll always answer you.”
"Thank you.”
"Come here,” I hug the boy tightly. "Oh, and something else,” I say as we part. “I know you don't like the idea, but I would like you to take care of Perseus too,” He’s about to complain, but I interrupt him. “I'm not saying that you’re his babysitter, I just want to know that if something happens, you’ll be there for him when I can’t,” He sighs. “Please? I won't be able to sleep if you don't promise, love,” I pout.
"I promise," He says through clenched teeth.
I laugh and kiss his cheek. I get up and we meet the others, now it is my son's turn. I hug him tighter.
"You won't give me another lecture, will you?" He says when we part.
"You've already gotten a lot,” He nods, I kiss his hair. “But there’s something I forgot to tell you. An advice.”
"What?"
"Have fun.”
One last goodbye and they both get on the train.
"Ha! I told you we would make it,” I turn to my right and laugh as I see Jenna and Marlene say goodbye to Josephine, who then runs and gets on the train.
"Who fell asleep?" I ask them.
"It was the silly muggle traffic, my wife didn't want to use any other faster means," says Jenna.
"I don’t regret it.”
The train begins to move, in the distance I see the small head of Perseus, as soon as he sees me he smiles and says goodbye. I wave at him back.
Little by little he goes away. Only until this moment does nostalgia come to me.
"Aw, you’re both crying," says Marlene.
I turn to James, who’s doing his best to hide his tears from us.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Hello my friends, I hope today you are feeling infinite. That’s right, this week I am reviewing the movie based on one of my favorite books,“The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky. Interestingly enough, this movie was also directed by Stephen Chbosky. Since the director and the author are the same, you would think that there would be NO differences at all, however, there were quite a few things that were changed. Today, we are going to see how well the director followed his own book. So, without further ado, let’s spill the Reel Tea.
Admirable Changes
One thing that Chbosky changed from his own novel, was the origin of Patrick’s nickname “Nothing”. In the novel it is explained that Patrick’s nickname was given before Charlie’s first wood shop class, where it was also implied that it was the root of Patrick’s insecurities. In the movie however, this infamous nickname was bestowed upon Patrick by the wood shop teacher on Charlie’s first day of the class. Throughout the movie, Patrick was able to interact with other characters in a comedic way, while in the book, he looked at the nickname as nothing but a burden, and took the name calling to heart. I believe that comedy inside this movie was important, as to make the movie more enjoyable for the audience. I also thought this change in the character made more sense, considering that Patrick really doesn’t care about other people’s opinions on him, and this characteristic is noticeable throughout the book.
Tumblr media
Another aspect of the movie that Chbosky altered was the hard-to-watch scene where Charlie beats up Brad’s posse while they were attacking Patrick. After Charlie won the fight, he looked at Brad and said, “If you ever do this again, I’ll tell everyone. And if that doesn’t work, I’ll blind you.” However, in the film, Charlie claims to have blacked out while he was beating them up. I think this was a good, minor change for a few reasons. The first being it showed his state of mind. Towards this part of the movie, his mental state was failing and I think the fact that he blacked out, was a good way of foreshadowing the massive downfall to come. Second, I think that not showing him beat up those kids doesn’t alter the image of the lovable, innocent, nice guy. By not showing him beat them up, we still look at him with a high regard.
Not so Admirable Changes
For the most part, Chbosky stayed true to his book, and the overall message of the plot. However, there were a few changes that he made that were not in the best taste. One in particular was the worst for me. This being the lack of focus on Charlie’s friend Michael’s suicide. For one, this tragic event was not mentioned until almost 30 minutes into the movie.  In the novel, this plays a big part in Charlie’s life, and he is mentioned several times in the book, and I felt the decision to make this a small plot point was not smart. The placement in which this event was brought up was not good either. In the movie, this topic comes up while Charlie is stoned and tells Sam about Michael. She tells Patrick, in which they both share a concerning look, and as if on cue, raise a glass to Charlie. When I saw this, I could only help but feel as if they were only hanging out with him, because they felt bad for him. As the movie went on, I could tell that the friendships were genuine, but this still rubbed me the wrong way.
Another quick change that I noticed was the lack of the relationship with Charlie and his sister. In the book, his sister gets pregnant by her boyfriend, resulting in Charlie taking her to the clinic. This part of the book shows a deeper look into Charlie and his sister’s relationship. I would have liked to see their brother-sister dynamic, considering the main part she has towards the end of the movie.
Character Correlation
Charlie, played by Logan Lerman, was by far, the best played character in the movie. This is funny considering I didn’t like his part as Percy Jackson in “The Lightning Thief”. Lerman did such a good job portraying the complex character of Charlie. Throughout the film, you can see his character’s mental stability slowly deteriorating just like in the book. The scene that stuck out to me is the part where Charlie is crying in his room alone, and he can’t seem to stop. That performance blew me away. In my opinion, Lerman had the most difficult character to portray, and he excelled my expectations.

Overall Thoughts
As I mentioned earlier, this book is one of my favorites. I may not be able to relate to most things that Charlie went through in the book, but I still have a deep appreciation of the story. And despite a few things altered due to time restraints, I don’t think the overall message was lost. The impact of the movie was just as powerful as the book, and was by far, one of the best movie adaptation I have seen so far.
And that’s the Reel Tea.

*Just a funny part of the movie, that was just so awesome. I couldn’t help myself*

The minute I read the first line of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, I was hooked… Because who doesn’t want to be a demigod? Admittedly, I was introduced to Percy Jackson through the first film (starring Logan Lerman), and I fell in love there and then… Little did I know that the books would be so much more and pretty much take me into a world that I return to it almost as often as I return to Harry Potter.
As I said, I was late to party when it came to reading Percy Jackson, the entire series had been out for a while and a second movie was being made. Now fans of the books are not necessarily fans of the movies. The movies changed the storyline too much to be forgiven by the fans of the books, in fact, don’t even mention the movies to them unless you wish to be given a death stare worthy of Medusa. But I think, what has been agreed upon in the fandom, that Logan Lerman was an excellent choice to play Percy Jackson…. even if they aged the character up a bit. I actually found (through my obsessive scrolling through Pinterest) that someone had found images of Logan when he was younger and compiled them in order of the ages that Percy should have been in the films.
Tumblr media
Whilst the movies don’t do the books justice, the fans have answered the call. Just look up the fan art. My personal favourite (and a lot of others’ favourite as well) is an artist called Viria (follow the link to see more of her work). She has often be dubbed the unofficial official artist for the fandom, because of how well she seems to capture the characters, I have even been reduced to tears because of how perfect her work is.
Art by Viria, Percy Jackson
Where the films seemingly failed, the fans took up the call and produced some amazing art work – be it scenes from the story or just interpretations of the characters. Here are some more examples  (it is incredibly difficult to choose from the amazing art so be sure to look some others up yourself):
If we take a step back and look at the actual story and characters that Rick Riordan has produced, it is pretty easy to see why the fans are so dedicated and protective of the series. Percy Jackson really exemplifies the message that the Disney film Hercules produced: “For a true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart.”
Percy’s fatal flaw, as we are constantly told, is that he is too loyal to his friends (and family). It’s his fatal flaw that we, as readers and fans, make us fall in love with him time and time again. That and his sass when he is speaking to the gods. I honestly could go on and on about Percy, but there is more to this series than the main protagonist. Because what is Percy without Annabeth or Grover or Luke? Each character that Rick introduces us to, teaches us a lesson (something I find lacking in a lot of YA/children’s novels).
Grover: a satyr. Grover introduces the readers the importance of nature, and why we need to take care of it. His journey to find Pan, and his witnessing of Pan’s death was one of the most heart-wrenching moments in the series, but its message was clear: it is not up to a god to save the earth, it is up to each and every one of us.
Luke:  a fallen hero. Talk about a redeeming character. Luke was a reminder about how bitterness can turn into something ugly if you cannot learn to get passed it. Luke almost destroyed the world because he hated his father… But it was his family (Annabeth) who brought him back to the light… He proves that a hero isn’t someone who has done great deeds, it is some who learnt from his mistakes and tried to make things right.
I had to add this, because it’s true. Sea of Monsters was not loved by the fans at all, but this moment almost made up for it
Nico: the adopted baby brother of the fandom. Nico represents the difficult task of accepting yourself. Nico is a child who is seemingly in the era. He grew up learning that being gay was wrong, something to be ashamed of. He seems to hate Percy with everything he has, but in truth he loves him so much that it hurts. He thinks people will turn away from him because of who he is, so he doesn’t let himself get close to anyone. Which is why Will Solace is so amazing, he doesn’t let Nico feel sorry for himself, he doesn’t let him lock himself again… (I know I fangirled so hard in Blood of Olympus)
Annabeth: what can I say about her that you don’t already know? She is Percy’s other half. She keeps him from making an complete idiot of himself (most of the time, it’s a difficult job okay?) Her relationship with Percy is the most cherished thing in the series (aside from Percy himself). It grows from her disliking him (seemingly) to them falling in love. They work well as a team and complete each other. It made perfect sense that the daughter of Athena and the son of Poseidon would fall in love, because of the feud between Athena and Poseidon. Their relationship helped heal the divide between the two gods. Percy learned from her, he became better because of her.
Tumblr media
When new characters (Jason, Piper, Leo, Hazel and Frank) were introduced in Heroes of Olympus, it was difficult not to compare them to the original characters.
Jason: our new hero…. my first thought when I met Jason in The Lost Hero was he is no Percy. He is respectful, follows rules, is neat, polite and able to control his temper. But I loved him any way. He grew into himself, discovering that just because his dad was a Roman god (Jupiter) did not mean he had to conform the one set of rules. He brought together the two sides together. Maybe it was because we traveled and grew with Percy that we could never really love Jason as much. But in a way, he still under estimated the strength of the Greeks as this post from pipercyofficial.tumblr shows.
Tumblr media
Leo: the humorous best friend…. I loved Leo. But again, he was no Percy. It seemed to me that Rick divided what we loved about Percy into two characters. Leo was a perfect example of how people try to hide their pain through humor. Better to appear happy than allow people into your pain.
Frank and Hazel: I’m putting these two together because I don’t really have much to say about them. Hazel was brought back from the dead and used her second chance to save the world. Frank… the nicest child of Ares/Mars…. depicts how looks can be deceiving. He possible has more power than any of the other demigods, but is the sweetest and most caring out of all of them. He is riddled with insecurities that make him endearing, but he is also proof that sometimes you can only become who you are supposed to be by accepting who you are and proving your worth to yourself.
Piper: She was my least favourite out of the new characters. Every time it was her turn to narrate, I had to suppress a scoff… It wasn’t that she wasn’t brave or intelligent or powerful… It was that the only thing that appeared to matter to her was Jason… And I just could’t get passed that… Or maybe it was that one of the first things she said about Percy (after meeting him) was that he was unimpressive compared to Jason… I was like: “Excuse me girl… You’ve known him (Percy) for what 5 minutes and you are judging him because he doesn’t look impressive? And you called Drew shallow…”
And then there are the gods… I think this is Rick’s most important lesson… You can believe in whatever higher power you want but without you, they are nothing. Gods cannot interfere with the lives of mortals but they need the mortals to believe in them to remain powerful. It makes sense that the children of gods would feel abandoned if they had no contact with their parents or their parents won’t help them no matter how many times they might ask. It shows that BELIEF is a powerful thing. Believing in yourself, in others, in higher powers.
On the subject of the Greek gods, I have to say that Poseidon is my favourite. Out of the three “big”  gods of olympus, Zeus is actually the weakest. Hades controls the legions of the dead and Poseidon controls the oceans (it helped me realise how powerful the ocean actually is). Zeus controls the winds and lightning… But he struggles to admit when he is wrong and needs help. In the Battle of Manhattan (The Last Olympian), Poseidon was the deciding factor when it came to defeating Typhon and the demigods would have been defeated had it not been for Hades’s help.
One of my favourite things about the fandom is that the fans want Percy and Annabeth to be happen… When Rick threw them into Tartarus, the fandom exploded!!!! Like “you just separated them! Made Percy forget everything except Annabeth and then they finally are reunited and you do this????? Just leave them in peace!!!!!” But when Rick releases a new book (or series) the first question is: Is Percy in it? Is Annabeth in it? How can you write a book without them?
Percy Jackson is a series that is timeless. It is well-written, easy to read and for all ages (I’m looking at you, the people who classify it as a children’s book). Rick Riordan and his fans have a wonderful relationship (if you don’t believe me check out his twitter or just look at the dedications for House of Hades and Blood of Olympus).
Maybe if we are really good, we might live to see an accurate television of movie series of the books… (*fingers crossed*)
[Repost] Look, I didn’t want to be a Demigod….. The minute I read the first line of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, I was hooked...
