Hello 👋 I hope you are having a wonderful day or night! May I request a Macaque x reader oneshot? Were both are having like flirt contest or sm like that, and they try act all smug and confident, but in reality, they're very flustered with each other? Thank you <<3
Hi!!! Of course I can, and thank you so much for requesting! I'm sorry for how long this took!
First to Fall (Macaque x Reader)
Tumblr media
Macaque leans against the tattered cushions of the old couch he stole for his dojo/residence a while ago, throwing his head back as he howls with laughter. He places one hand on his forehead, the other cradling his sore stomach while he cackles at his companions misfortune.
"It is not funny! Stop laughing!" your frantic and embarrassed protests ironically fall on deaf ears, however.
Just minutes earlier the two of you were playing a fun game you had suggested, A Hat in Time, on your Switch. Everything was fun and lighthearted at first; the two of you laughing at the zany situations and lightly poking fun at the others playing style. But everything went downhill when you made it to Subcon Forest. You had jokingly made a comment about how Snatcher, the antagonist of the level, looked eerily similar to the simian beside you, to which Macaque took great offence.
To get you to answer for your crimes, he willed the lights to flicker. That alone was enough to get you a bit on edge. After that the lights turned off, and you could feel or see him beside you anymore.Just before you could delve into a panic, the lights suddenly turned on and Macaque loomed over you from the shadows.
"Boo."
And that lead you to now; the demon struggling to catch his breath as he wheezes at your dispense and you looking angry and utterly embarrassed.
"I'm sorry-! But the look on your face!" he takes a deep, shaky breath, forcing himself not to break out laughing again as he leans forward with a small breath of relief.
"Ahh... you are so cute when you pout like that," the demon hums teasingly, thick eyebrows arched in amusement as he gazes at you through half lidded eyes.
The way your eyes widen at his sudden change in tone is something that can't be controlled, but you are not one to be bested twice. Through sheer will, you force your cheeks not to warm up and give him a steely glare. Two can play at this game. Your grumpy frown melts into a suave smirk, mimicking your companion's.
"I only did it to make you smile. I love the way your face lights up when you laugh." and it wasn't exactly a lie. You really did love seeing his sharp pearly whites when he smiled, even if it was in the smug or condescending manner he usually did. And the sound of his deep, rich cackles stirred something deep within you, something that made your knees go weak.
Macaque doesn't seem to sense the faint undertones of sincerity in your tone (thank goodness), and takes this as a challenge.
He never thought he'd see the day that little old you would challenge someone as naturally suave and charming as him to s flirting battle, but he wasn't complaining.
"You're talking about my laugh? I have yet to hear a giggle as cute as yours." Once again, it takes everything in you not to burst out stammering.
You weren't some pushover, and you weren't going to stand for Macaque scaring you even if his words send jolts of electricity through your body and he was so damn hot when he lowered his voice like that-
You huff and roll your eyes. "Macaque please. We both know that you're the finest thing in this room," you speak as if it's common knowledge, and for some reason that makes Macaque pause.
As confident as the simian is, he doesn't get many compliments. Usually things along the lines of 'conniving' or 'sneaky' are used to describe him. But fine? Oh, you had no idea what you made him feel with that one.
"Oh, I beg to differ doll-" he begins, only to get cut off by a snarky guffaw.
"I beg to differ, handsome." you give him a hard, stone cold stare. This was your chance to let out all of the things you've been feeling for him for who knows how long without being questioned. He wouldn't know you were being serious. Why not just pour it all out now while you have the chance?
"Your smile has got to be one of the most charming things I've ever seen, and don't even get me started on your eyes. Those two things alone could sweep some poor lady off of her feet. And your voice- I could go on for hours about your voice. It's so deep and- and relaxing- you should totally do a podcast or something because it'd have me out like a light in just a few minutes. And that thing you do where you run your fingers through your hair when you think something is funny makes me want to-"
You abruptly cut yourself off, slapping a hand over your mouth. You basically almost confessed. You'd cut yourself off, but the intentions were clear. Your blush spreads so far and fast it reaches the tips of your ears. It was just fun and innocent flirting until you went and ruined it by being genuine and passionate like an idiot.
You slowly look up, eyes wide with embarrassment and fear as you prepare yourself for that harsh and demeaning laugh that he gives everyone when he thinks they're stupid. But it never comes. Instead, what you see when you lift your eyes, is a red faced simian trying to cover up his face with his scarf while looking away from you. But the flush on his ears couldn't be denied, and neither could the smile playing at his lips.
".. you really meant that didn't you?" he asks shakily, making you immediately try to backpedal.
He wasn't making eye contact with you anymore. That had to be a bad sign. But before you could open your mouth and begin letting a waterfall of apologies cascade out, a small snicker can be heard. It was Macaque, obviously. He tries covering his mouth, but the laughter seeps through. Except this laughter wasn't mocking or mean. The six eared Macaque was sitting on your couch, letting out almost comically giddy giggles.
He might as well have been twirling his hair and kicking his feet too. Surprised by this unexpected reaction, you slowly begin laughing along. His laughter still had that deep, rich twang to it, but now it was filled with a lightness that made you feel.. all kinds of different things. Macaque quickly gets his act together, clearing his throat and straightening up with embarrassment.
"I... guess we have our winner huh?" he asks in a slightly awkward tone, looking as though he was holding himself back from something. You're quick to speak up before you can get cut off again.
"Macaque I'm so sorry- I just got carried away and I don't- I poured my heart out like that by accident!" you stammer, hoping what you're saying is at least a bit intelligible.
Macaque puts his hand on your shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
"It's okay dude, I'm not mad or anything.. in fact..." he leans forward and presses a gentle kiss against your cheek, causing you to freeze up and go completely red.
"now I have more things to tease you with," he cackles, pulling away before you could land any sort of hit on him.
He sinks into one of his shadow portals, making you frown, before he reemerges in the kitchen. You knew what this was about. If you wanted revenge you'd have to work for it. You shoot up from the couch, running around his dojo like a headless chicken trying to catch your dark furred friend. Er... partner? A kiss on the cheek wasn't exactly platonic, but he never said he wanted to be more than friends either.
You decide not to think too hard about it, focusing on finding Macaque instead. And when you finally do manage to tackle the monkey, it's obvious it's only because he let you. And to enact your revenge, you begin peppering kisses all over his stupid, smug face. Macaque lets out another round of that giddy laughter, and then brushes his lips against yours before disappearing.
You chase him around the apartment again. And so the cycle continues.

Hello! I absolutely love your stories and I was wondering if you are open for request? If so, can you do a lmk sun wukong x reader who is a nine tail fox? I imagine that the reader as already have all of their nine tails, so that would make the reader probably as old as wukong (because you know 1 tail = 100 years)
of course only if it is possible for you, it’s ok if you are not open for requests. Thank you and have a nice day! (Keep making amazing stories, you have a serious talent)
Tumblr media
I am so sorry for not answering this sooner! I just got busy and then I got even more busier. Then recently I got super sick, but I guess it finally made me have enough time to write when I wasn't knocked out from the meds. But I am still taking requests, I'm just going to be quite slow. And I'm sorry if this isn't what you wanted exactly or it lacks a certain luster to it, I'm running purely on meds right now and hoping I don't get worse in sickness.
Also chapter 3 may come out a little later since I got super sick.

9th Tail Fox Reader x lmk Sun Wukong|| Oneshot
The sight of the once-flourishing city made you sigh in disappointment. It was tiring to see such good potential go to waste, especially under your watch.
You wander in your shop, restocking and organizing the place. You can’t attract desperate people if the shop doesn’t look presentable after all. The ancient and magical artifacts are displayed nicely, while some more medicinal and less magical artifacts are more at hand reach. It's a nice little shop you have been building up through the long centuries. It's good to know that no matter how badly life brings you down, a fox spirit like you always bounces right back up.
A small bell rang when someone entered through the door. Someone different…
The smell was strong and powerful, nearly knocking you out of your human form. There's only one being that could get that reaction out of you. Someone you told to never show their face to you ever again.
You turn to the door to see a ginger simian. Who waltzes right in, as if he owned the place. Checking the old artifacts, searching for something.
“Nope, get out, I am NOT getting wrapped in your messes, again.” You immediately storm your way up to him. Dropping your human act and looks.
“Hey, cool stuff you got here. I would love to check it but I'm quite busy and on a task.” He ignores your aggressive attitude and continues to look around.
“You- Didn't I say to get out? Leave! I don't want to be wrapped up in your messes again!” You kept blocking his path, shifting into a smokey fox form. However, he just dodges you and continues searching your shop.
“Tell me, do you have any, artifacts or info on someone named the Lady Bone Demon?” He sits on the counter and finally looks at you. Even though he tries to keep his lazy attitude, there was an edge to it. Ready to get serious if the moment calls for it.
You stand there for a second contemplating, staring down at him. A few more moments pass, so you can see what his intentions were exactly. Then a chuckle escapes from your throat before turning into laughter.
“You really came all the way here for something like that? Who or what lead you here to begin with? You certainly came a long way home to visit little ol’ me, after what you done.” Your smokey fox form grew in size, as it bare its fangs and growled at him. He kept his lazy attitude.
“Crazy, huh? I heard from a friend that you know a map that leads to the Lady Bone Demon's old place. It would be nice if you hand it over and forget this ever happened-”
“And why should I help you? I'm running a business here, and I need payment. Now if I were you, I'll pay up, since I'm being so generous today.” You cut him off as your face got close to his. For once his lazy attitude broke for a second, he tensed up as he leans away. Nervous and possibly a bit flustered from the sudden close approximation.
“W-well, I don't have anything on me now but I can get you something.” He mutters, before clearing his throat. Trying to regain his composure back.
“News flash, I don't want anything that isn't my tail back, that you cut off! Either you give it back or no map.” Your form shifts into a more smaller one but just large enough to tower over him. Wrapping your many tails around him, your fox face next to his ear.
“Now tell me, what will it be, Sun Wukong?”
He was silent, for once he was quiet.
“If I don't find out what she is planning soon, she’ll destroy everything. I know, you hate me after everything but we both know, if I didn't do it. The mortals in this city would have. You know how humans get, when misfortune comes, they need someone to blame. I am sorry that it had to be you, but you know I was only doing my job. So please, help me on this one.” He said while staring at the ground, his hands clutching the edge of the counter.
All you can do is stare at the sight in silence. It wasn't every day, he apologizes. However, will you actually accept his apology?
You let out a tired sigh, your smokey from jumping off the counter. Searching the shelves before landing in front of him. Back in your human form, holding a map. You tossed it at him.
“As much as I would love to have my ninth tail back, but I must say, it isn't every day the mighty Sun Wukong comes in apologizing and begging for help. Well, I guess that's a good enough payment.”
“Heh, I get it, I don't apologize and should have sooner. Then again, there weren't any balloons or cards saying ‘Sorry for cutting off your ninth tail and making you stuck being a regular fox spirit.’ Apparently, that doesn't happen much to have it be on a card.” He laughs getting off the counter. Checking out the map as he slowly exits the shop.
“Hey if my great plan does work and the world hasn't ended, want to...catch up?”
You raise a brow at him.
“Oh? Wukong, you still aren't smooth, not even after all these years.”
“Hey, I spent a few centuries on an island by myself. I’m just rusty, and don't pretend you aren't too.” It was his turn to lean close. His face is close to yours as he smirks. You were stunned, feeling your cheeks heat up.
“Oh please, unlike you I had a business to run. Now go, I won't be kind enough to say it again.”
“Then is that a yes? Can we catch up?”
You close the door shut the moment you push him out. A soft chuckle left you as you turned back around to see the spot where Wukong was sitting. Though you notice something new there, it was a fluffy tail. The one you lost. A smile forms on your face.
“That cheeky monkey.”

Long post!!
Some stuff I wrote today inspired on my drawings :D
I'm not the best writer so sorry for any errors
Enjoy !
Macaque fights Wukong
Disclaimer I made this as a guide so it's not supper detailed for that
Macaque leaves the place MK and him were staying at and goes to get new tools, food and other bare necessities like clothes for MK
“Last on the list... my dojo, that kid broke the last tools we had there” he sighs as he starts collecting various weapons that could be useful in training the unstable MK that fell at his door asking for solitude and training
“Macaque”
The dojo turns a golden color lighting everything
Astral projection and the voice, Wukong
He turns around to face the voice “Wukong! Astral projection?…you must be pretty desperate to do this” he says as he turns around continuing with the task at hand
“what can i help the great king in this fine day?” He says with sarcasm in his voice
“you know damn well what im here for macaque” exasperation fills the golden monkeys voice
“No, i have no idea what you’re talking about” macaque keeps ignoring the other collecting what he needs and going through the list he has, almost completing it
“Macaque im not playing around your stupid games” slightly raising his voice “where’s MK”
Macaque breathes trough his teeth “uuuh sorry can’t tell you…” he turns around collecting the bag of weapons, swings it on his back securing the straps and looks at wukong raising a smirk “that’s confidential info, welp see you next time bud”
As macaque was leaving wukong’s voice roze “Macaque i swear if you don’t tell me where MK is i-“ wukong pointed a finger at macaque who was watching him with a growing angered expression
“you what Wukong? What are you going to do? The kid left on his own and stoped at my door looking for help” he pointed a finger at himself and fixed his bag “he was terrified of his power and of hurting anyone, for heavens sake he was scared of his own kaiju!!” he sighs “I didn’t kidnap your student if that’s what you're implying, he went to me for a reason and he wants to be alone for a reason” he points a finger this time at Wukong’s chest “leave him be and for once be something you never where” he grabs the bag he left by the door and opens a portal “patient” he leaves through the portal ending the astral projection and arriving to his place of stay with Mk
Leaving wukong back in pigsy’s restaurant speechless and with no answer for the others
_______________________________
Context to my “i miss my friends” drawing I made
“That’s it! Get into it and feel it” macaque moves quickly dodging and hitting MK “make it feel as if it was normal, as blood pumping or as breathing, remember relax into it, its a part of you”
Mk breaths and pants trying to concentrate and follow up with Macaque trying to control his glowing monkey form but suddenly “ach” Mk falls to the floor seemingly in pain holding his head
“Shit…MK!” Macaque hurries to Mk’s side and holds his arms “calm down MK!!” MK mind runs while hearing the scrolls words
‘chaos harbringer’
“stop stop STOP!”
The earth slightly shatters, tears flow from MK’s eyes
“Don’t let it control you kid, you’re way stronger than that!!” macaque screams trying to calm down MK, kaiju flowing out and forming before them “Mk listen to me calm down you are safe! You are not what you think you are! Snap out of it kid!”
Mk’s kaiju retreats and he goes back to normal breathing hard, tears still falling trough, he feels a warm embrace holding tight and he reciprocates while sobbing into macaque’s shoulder
Things calm down sometime later and they are sitting on the edge of the mountain, clothes changed and wounds cured
MK thinks of everyone back home and how they might be doing, he thinks about the choice he made a month ago to leave and get macaque to help him control something like himself
“I miss everyone macaque”
Macaque looks at Mk, worry and sadness fill his face
“Im sure they miss you as well kid” macaque looks back to the horizon, feeling Mk press up against his shoulder and on instinct he wraps an arm against Mk
Mk sniffles “you really think so?” He smiles weakly, macaque smiles back “oh I know so kid”
Macaque remembers the time when they where still staying at his house and on the middle of the night Wukong decided on astral projecting to him repeating ‘give me your location, give me your location, give me your locat-‘ ‘omg fuck off wukong’ but too no avail
It lasted all night…
Macaque shudders at the thought
he hates seeing mk like this, but he knows Mk need this time away from everything and gather his thoughts, without the pressure and the constant nagging of the world
“Well lets go have dinner, you have a long day tomorrow” macaque stands reaching a hand to mk who giggles “i thought everyday was a long one at this point” they follow arm to arm reaching their stay “well tomorrow will probably be a little bit more difficult”
“ill be ready for it!” He puffs his chest, macaque chuckles “im sure of it kid”
“Thanks macaque, for helping me”
“You’re welcome kid, anytime”
Thank you for reading 💞 :D

Hi can I request a macaque wukong x fem cat reader
Like reader has fore cat ears like two normal cat ears and two small ears and she has super sensitive hearing and like she’s loving towards anyone and wants attention like a cat but back at what I want is that reader was playing fnaf in her room until macaque and wukong entered the room and scared her as reader let out a screach as she died in the game and they tried to comfort her for her loss in the game as she died in the game as macaque and wukong tried to play the game as reader watched them suffer as she smiled
I want some comfort because I’m sick and I tried beating the game in hard mode in fnaf
(ಡ‸ಡ)
I don't think I ever made it past night 3 in FNAF 1 tbh
“Jumpscare!” (697 w.c)
Wukong x Macaque x Fem!Neko!Reader
Funny romantic one shot
pronouns: she/her
CW: getting scared, general FNAF description stuff
Okay, only a fewwww more minutes, then it’ll be six AM!” Y/n muttered to herself, eyes trained on the cameras. She had been trying to beat this part of the game for ages now, and hadn’t really left the game room. She had snacks, a drink, and a nice blanket with her…so theoretically, she could try all day if she wanted to.
The one detail she forgot about was her two boyfriends.
They had indeed all woken up together that morning, with Macaque running some errands early on and Wukong stopping at Pigsy’s for a visit with MK. But now they were both home, and neither had really heard from y/n.
With his six ears, Macaque could tell she was playing that creepy game again. He didn’t mind the horror, but the noises that the animatronics made when they killed the player hurt his head. Wukong thought it was just a weird game, but wasn’t opposed to when she would invite him to watch her.
“I have an idea.” Macaque said, knowing y/n was too immersed to try and eavesdrop right now.
“Oh? Do tell!” Wukong’s tail wagged.
“Here’s the plan…”
Y/n’s ears perked up, thinking she was hearing whispering. But she also figured it was the odd ambience of the game, so she paid it no mind. The power went out in the game; this now had her anxious as to whether Freddy would be quick to finish her off or if he would let her progress to the next night. Just as his song ended, she screamed as a pair of hands grabbed her shoulders and a different pair of hands covered her eyes. And through her headphones, the animatronic bear screamed too.
She had lost. Again!
“Ughhhh not fair! You’re both lucky I didn’t try scratching at you!” She whined, spinning the chair around and playfully pushing her boyfriends away from her. Wukong laughed and Macaque appeared through one of his portals. He ruffled the hair that was close to her four ears.
“You’re funny when you get angry! Just like a pouty kitten!” He teased. Y/n narrowed her eyes.
“C’mon, we were just having fun! No need to be upset!” Wukong tried to back the shadow up on this, but Y/n wasn’t having it. She unplugged the headphones and got up from the chair.
“If you two wanna play games,” she smiled with a glint of mischief in her voice “then you can sit down and play.”
This was less of an actual invitation, and more of a challenge. The monkeys looked at each other, weighing their options. There was a good chance she’d let this all go if they humored her on this one.
Wukong took the seat first, leaving Macaque to find a different chair. Y/n, however, was already getting comfortable in Wukong’s lap, so that option was gone too. He supposed he’d just stand.
Wukong clicked the “continue from night 3” button, and let it begin again.
Several tries later, and they had managed to get to 4 AM without losing power. Y/n happily munched away on her snacks, even with Wukong growing more afraid each time he saw one of the robots. Macaque had put on his sensory headphones to block out the noise, but was still giving his opinions and directions.
“No, you need to check the cove! He could’ve moved!” He said, tugging on Wukong’s sleeve.
“I just checked on him! I’m trying to find the rabbit!” Wukong clicked onto camera 2B, and his tail puffed up. “WHAT IS THAT?!”
Y/n glanced at the screen, seeing the telltale sign of an incoming golden Freddy jumpscare. She shrugged.
“Ah, probably just a glitch.”
“If you’re sure….” He put down the tablet to check the doors, but was instead met with the yellow bear. His screen flashed and a loud scream rang out, causing him to flail and knock over the chair by accident. Y/n landed on her feet and was laughing at him.
“Now you know how it feels!” She crossed her arms. Macaque couldn’t help but laugh too. He was just glad he wasn’t in the chair.

MK X READER
Lego Monkie Kid
Context: You have to cut your shift early due to a rather concerning call from your partner, MK. But don't worry, you're an expert at providing comfort and reassurance when people need it most - although Sun Wukong might have something different in store for him.
TW: None
‧˚₊꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒦꒷‧₊˚⊹‧˚₊꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒦꒷‧₊˚⊹
It all started while you were at work. Tasks were boring and you'd supplied yourself with mainly packaging the necessities for the staff to put to good use.
It's not like you enjoy working there, not like you want this, but the pay was too tempting (sparkle money sparkle).
With a sigh, you wipe sweat off your brow and continue working. Air conditioning is maxed out at the moment, and yet you still have to keep your arms down so no one catches a glimpse of your damp pits. Neither does the heat help employee performance; your coworkers are even more lazy than usual, slouching around like slugs.
Three more hours, you tell yourself.
Then, you'll be free.
So you bite your lip rather hard and motivate yourself to package the last of the food in little bags.
Until, of course, destiny rings the phone and you rush to answer. Well, you almost do, tempted as you are. But you work in the back, so answering the phone isn't on your itenerary even if you had nothing else to do. Instead, the cashier answers, and you hear their chipper voice from the back where you stand (probably in people's way, but it's not spacious back here to begin with). People walk back and forth, lugging boxes of food for shipment, others balancing plates stuffed with food for the customers in the dining area. You're just here making sure the food is well stocked.
Someone suddenly peeks into the back. I'ts the cashier who'd answered the phone, and the object has yet to leave their hand.
"Y/N?" They call, making you look up. "Someone's on the phone, wants to talk to you."
"Me?" You ask, baffled.
They nod, simply walking over with the phone outstretched.
You glance down at what was once your hands, now gloved and covered in greasy fat from the meat you'd been packaging. "Okay! Just hold on, lemme-" Rather harshly, you yank the plastic gloves off and wash your hands as thoroughly as possible. "Who is it?"
"Uh, MK? That's their name, I guess."
Oh.
Oh!
You blink in surprise, and once your hands are done drying, you quickly take up the phone and unmute it - but not before waving the cashier off. "Thanks. I'll take care of it."
"Is it an emergency?" He asks, leaning against the doorway. "You need to leave?"
"Nah, MK probably just needs help figuring out where I hung up his favorite coat. It did need washing, but I forgot to tell him this morning, so . . ."
With a smile in the cashier's line of sight, you turn around and hold the phone to your ear. "Yello?"
"(Y/N)?"
You smile at the familiar voice of your partner. "Yeah, what's up?"
"Um . . . nothing! I just wanted to make sure you were having fun at work and stuff, also, when do you get off?" He doesn't respond with 'the ceiling' as he usually does, which gives cause for concern. The way his voice is tainted with anxiety doesn't help the worry you suddenly feel, either.
Frowning, you look around to make sure you're alone. "I get off in like, three hours. If you're looking for your coat, it's probably still in the wash, MK."
"No, it's not that . . . Wait - my coat? My orange jacket? You-" MK cuts himself off suddenly. ". . . Ok. Thanks."
"Something wrong?"
"Um. No."
All right, now you know something is bothering MK. For a moment you weigh your options, glancing around as though the walls could answer your questions. "Okay . . . okay. Imma end my shift early."
"W-What?" MK sounds baffled. "Are you sure?"
He sounds so small. So defeated and tired - it makes your heart clench. With a nod of affirmation (even though MK can't possible see it), you head to the front of the store, talking all the while. "Yeah, I wasn't even supposed to work today. Wanna get a movie going at your place? Or you wanna take a walk in the park or something?"
A pause.
You have time to tell your manager your situation while MK thinks of a response.
Thankfully, the dude lets you go with just a warning, so you then head to the cash register to return the phone. MK finally sighs. "Yeah . . . okay. That sounds nice."
You bite your lip. "MK, are you sure you're all right?"
Your partner rewards you with another bout of silence, and you're inclined to wait by the cashier who'd given you the phone. Then, MK clears his throat rather awkwardly, his voice sounding small; "It's just . . . meh. Sun Wukong's been putting me through a lot. Nothing bad! I'm just . . . tired?"
Ah. Brow furrowing thoughtfully, you adapt a deep frown and hum. "Okay. I'm on my way."
You hang up after that, handing the phone to the cashier with a stony expression. Sun Wukong is in danger of being your new rug if your suspicions are confirmed.
"So I was right?" The cashier hums. "I'll see you later."
"Yeah. Good luck."
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
"I'm back!"
Your call echoes blankly through MK's apartment as you walk in and shut the door behind you.
Of course, it's not that big in here, so you instantly spot your partner on his bed, swathed in blankets so thick that no part of his body is visible to you. With the remote in one hand and a bowl of popcorn in the other, he searches for a movie to watch.
You can't help but frown at the mess.
To his credit, he isn't around very much anymore. Sun Wukong is practically stealing your boyfriend from you.
Said Monkie Kid glances over the moment you walk inside.
"Oh. That was fast!"
His voice sounds too chipper. With a cautious smile, you saunter over and glance down. There's room for you on the edge of the bed. "Can I sit?"
"Yeah!"
Doing so, you fumble with the hem of your sleeve, trying to come up with a way to weed the truth out of MK.
"So."
His movements pause. "Sooo . . ."
"Sun Wukong running you harder than Pigsy did during rush hour last Friday?" You start, smiling at the memory. MK was literally a blur, had to chug at least three Red Bulls to keep his body at functioning level. There was no time for distractions, no room for fun, and Mei was actually forced to help. So were you.
People just seem to like noodles specifically on Fridays. They do it on purpose.
MK scoffs. "Not that hard. Not physically, anyways."
"I get another guess, right? Is he pressuring you too much? Telling you the fate of the world rests in your hands? Like one mistake can send you over the edge of oblivion with no more people to serve noodles to?"
"That's kinda specific, but you're not wrong?"
You grin. MK's the type to fall under the fear of failure. "Knew it! Don't you worry, 'ol Monkey King will perish under my glorious lecture about treating my effing boyfriend right."
MK offers a sheepish smile, extending the blanket to encompass your frame as well. "Awww! You're sweet, buuuuut he won't listen."
"I'll poison his peaches."
"What peaches??"
"I'll stuff rocks under his pillow and schedule a meeting with his lawyer."
Your partner laughs at that, and the sound brings relief to your chest. The Monkie Kid then - after selecting a movie to watch - takes a mouthful of popcorn and devours it. "I'll totally help you as long as I can go incognito."
"Brooo, coward much? Face your mentor like a man!"
"I AM a man!"
Snorting in amusement, you wrap your arms around MK in a fierce cuddle. "Ok, I wasn't actually serious. Popcorn?"
"Sure." He offers a handful to which you take gingerly. He then buries himself in your shoulder, and you're inclined to rub his back in a soothing gesture. You might be brilliant at lightening the mood with chaotic banter, but MK still seems tired. So you're happy to give him a light squeeze before playing with his hair.
They relax almost instantly after that.
You feel their shoulders experimentally. "Bro, you're tense as heck."
"Sorry . . ."
"No! Don't be," you huff, going back to running your fingers through his hair. "I diagnose you with stress and anxiety, and prescribe you with cuddles. Sound fair?"
MK is fighting a smile. "Totally, babe."
"Aight. Now what movie are we watching? Some cringy sit-com?"
"I . . . actually don't know."
"Sweet."

Taking the Fall
Genre: Angst
Pronouns: Gender-Neutral
TW/CW: None
Characters: Lady Bone Demon and Bai He
Tumblr media
Fate can be so cruel.
All you wanted to do during your walk through the city was take a breather from all the action.
With all this stuff happening, you were beginning to wonder what your role in the group was.
Being an ordinary human had no advantages, seeing as you always had to be saved by someone. Sandy, Mei and Mk were super strong and fast. Tang had his extensive knowledge due to him being a scholar. Heck, even Pigsy had a role, being the realistic, protective dad figure and voice of reasoning.
You didn't have any of that.
No cool weapons.
No cool history or background.
Not a single bit of extreme fighting experience.
You always felt so useless, and no matter what you did, it never seemed to matter.
You always tried to keep up, but your body wasn't used to running around or fighting all these bad guys.
You tried to make a plan, but the others were able to do well without it-
You tried to train, but everyone was getting stronger so much faster-
You were getting left behind-
And one day, you KNEW they'd tell you to buzz off. That you were just slowing them down. That they didn't want to be friends with someone like YOU.
It was only a matter of time.
After all, you were just-
...
You.
As you continued your walk, your eyes noticed a young girl at the end of the alleyway, looking around with concern.
Walking up to her and squatting down, you tapped her shoulder. She turned with quickness, but relaxed when she saw you wave your hands, trying to show that you were no danger.
With a smile, you spoke up.
"What's wrong?"
After a moment of silence, the girl spoke.
"I can't find my cat."
Well that sucked.
"I'll help you!"
Hope shined in her eyes, posture becoming less nervous and less balled in on herself.
"Really?"
Nodding, you stand back up and extend your hand out. She took it, describing what her feline friend looked like. And after looking around, the both of you found them ontop of a neon sign that flickered every so often, unaware of the most that followed you two.
The both of you walked over, with you lifting her up to catch her feline friend. She
"Thanks for helping me miss."
You shook your head, "It was no problem at all. Now, let's get you back home."
The young girl nodded, but stopped in her tracks, with her instead trying to pull you up.
Before you could question her, all you heard was her plea to you.
"Behind you!"
As you turned to face the opponent, all that faced you was a white mist that charged towards the young girl.
You pulled her down from the sign, shielding her the best you could, and her holding onto you with her cat in her other arm.
The most slowed, almost to a halt, before charging towards you and forcefully entering your body.
It felt so painful, but as soon as it started, it ended.
And for a moment, you didn't feel anything, like that didn't just happen.
But the sudden throb you felt in your chest said otherwise.
Falling to your knees, you tried to grab onto the closest thing to steady yourself, but the trashcan fell, and so did you.
"Miss!"
Your hands moved to your head, and you kept begging for the entity to go away, but to no avail.
"You cannot win this fight, child. You will help me complete what I have been waiting for."
You tried so hard to fight against it, to tell yourself to be stronger, but you could feel yourself slowly fading.
"Do not fight against your destiny child. Embrace it. Become useful. If not for THEM, then do so for me."
A wave of silence washed over the alleyway, with only the sound of water droplets and the harsh wind being heard.
The child opened her mouth to speak, but a soft laugh escaped your now cold lips.
"Finally, after all those years of being locked away."
Standing up, your face now held a sadistic smirk.
"I am free."
The being looked at your hands straightening your body's posture, "Though this vessel is not best suited for my mission, it will suffice."
The cat's hiss died as soon as your eyes met with it's own. It scampered away with fear, leaving only the young girl to watch in horror and guilt.
But your eyes showed no care for her. They were much different than the warmth she felt from you before.
"W-Wait!"
Still, your body continued forward, as if it hadn't heard the cry.
"Please-"
Her hands covered her mouth, silencing the gasp that tried to escape as you now stood in front of her. With an emotionless expression, you sighed.
"Unless you plan to serve me, then I have no use for you."
The young girl curled into herself, tears threatening to spill from her eyes, and yet, they never left yours.
"I...I can-"
A smirk formed on your face.
"How naive."
This little girl was hoping to make it up to her vessel. Humans and their foolish guilt. How it hadn't destroyed them, the demon would never know.
What vexed her even more was that she had just met you, so for what reason did she feel so guilty?
"Fine."
She could use this human to her advantage.
After all, one can never have to many pieces to a game.
"But know that if you try to ruin anything-"
Oh, if looks could kill...
"You will pay with your life."
Turning away once more, your body brushed past her, and the little girl quickly followed after, disappearing in the white smoke.
Sorry for any spelling errors! This was just a little What If Scenario I had a dream about. (´º∀º`) With the Lady Bone Demon using you as a vessel and a guilt ridden Bai He following after you, what will be done? 👀

I wanted to maybe write a little thing for this because it hurt my feelings and i like that in a post, however it only just occured to me that i probably should have separately posted it lmao
The following is a oneshot based on the art and tweet above, can be interpreted platonicly or romantically, enjoy :)
Or not :p
Warnings: i dont proof read and my grammar sucks sometimes. Also character death mentions, and character death itself. And panick attack?? I think thats it
For context this starts off somewhere between red son being separated from his parents and mei fleeing into the middle of nowhere.
Red son had already been on his own by the time the fire had found its way to him. As he stood on the precipice of this uncontrollable, all consuming flame, he knew what had transpired. He knew from the moment that he came in contact with mei in the dining room, this was a possibility. But he believed if anyone could have tamed it, it was her. Now, seeing the fire burn away everything it touches, he couldnt help but feel responsible. He should have told her then.. now, judging by his surroundings, he was sure. Mei, that stupid noodle boy, their friends, they had to be dead. Burned up.. ashes. He could practically see the holes forming in reality itself.
In that moment, he wasnt sure what took hold of him. Fear. Hope. Something. But his body acted on its own, and he took a step into the fire. In mere seconds it engulfed him, beginning to burn away at the ends of his clothes. It didnt hurt him. It was just.. warmth. Like the sun on a warm day. His eyes opened, and he moved onward into the sea of crimson fire. The world was empty, the air filled with the crackle of flames as it ate away at the world.
Mei felt as though she had been alone for ages. The world around her was empty, her friends were dead, her familly was dead. She couldnt stop this. She could feel the flames tearing the world apart around her. Nothing to grab, technically nothing to stand on. The fire is the only thing left, and all she could do about it was cry and scream into the oblivion she created. Thinking, why couldnt the fire take her too? She was mortal, she could burn.. so why was she still here? She was certain that even the air itself had been burned away, because every breath she took burned in her lungs. She felt like she had hot lead in her veins, and the only thing she could hear was the roar of a hateful, destructive fire that she had failed to control. The more she cried, and screamed, the worse it got, but who wouldnt be crying and screaming when you're facing the end of the world by yourself?
Hours of aimless wandering in the flaming wasteland had left red son weary. He didnt know why he was out here. Maybe he thought he could stop this. But by now the world was probably up in flames. The fire was probably gnawing on the bones of the earth by now. But then he heard something. Something that wasnt the crackle of fire. His ears perked as he followed it, soon identifying it as screaming. Strangled cries of grief and anguish. He could see the source in the distance, a crumpled little silhouette. It was her, she survived it. He couldnt help but feel a stab of grief at the sight of her. She had to endure the death of her own world and she had barely lived long enough to see it. He found himself stumbling forward at a reckless pace, tears pricking his strained eyes as he came barreling toward her. "DRAGON GIRL!" He called, unsure if she would hear him. He didnt know what good it would do, he knew it was too late for everything and everyone else. But somehow, against the odds, she was here.
Mei had barely heard the familiar voice over the ringing in her ears and the pounding in her head. But she heard. She looked up immediately, terrified as she searched for the source. The second she spotted the form of someone running toward her, she knew who it was. The coat and the ponytail were unmistakable, she knew it was him. Even if she were blind she would have known it was him.  She had barely even made it to her feet before she went charging forward  to go to him.
She practically crashed into red son, though he managed to keep upright as mei ran straight into him, her arms wrapping tightly around him. He couldnt believe the state she was in. Disheveled and overheated, trembling, tears burning away as soon as they spill from her eyes. With the bright red of the firelight engulfing them, he couldnt even see their natural bright green. She went to say something as she looked up at him, her arms wrapped around his tense body. But her words died and gave away to more grievous choked sobs as she slumped against him. He finally wrapped his arms around her as he felt her sinking, pulling her into a supporting embrace as he sat down with her. He held her as she rested against him, continuing to cry.
"I cant stop.." she said, her breathing as ragged as her emotional state, "Red boy, make it stop.." she begged. Red son heard her, a few tears of his own threatening to spill. He could have helped if only he wasnt a coward.. it was too late. "I'm sorry." He said, after a long pause, "It's gone, mei. Everything is gone."
And there they remained. As the fire grew, and consumed, and tore everything they knew apart, they stayed. Red son's clothes were left partly destroyed, and his ponytail holder snapped, red curls falling over his shoulders. He didnt care. He looked just as much a mess as mei now. Mei calmed slowly as red son comforted her, the burning sensation tormenting her slowly began to cool down untill it felt warm. Then cool. They waited, and withing a few hours, the fire no longer crackled. All sound died away, and as mei rested in red son's hold, tuckered out, the fire finally dimmed and sputtered out. They were enveloped by numbing cold as they looked out into their vast, empty expanse, wondering how they were even still there. They finally spoke again, the only source of light being the dim glow of red son's hair going out like wet coals. It wouldnt be long now..
"I should have told you." Red son said, his voice quieter than it had ever been in her presence. Mei glanced up at him tiredly. "..there isnt much we could have done.. there wasnt an option where i survived anyway. I was meant to die here." She said. She knew that red son knew about this the moment she recieved the power. But she understood why he didnt want to tell him. But.. wukong did all this knowingly. Everything payed the price for it.. "..Well then. If we're meant to die like this, I'll be here untill it happens. Rest well." He said quietly. He watched as mei relaxed in his hold. Knowing that the last thing he would ever do was bring her comfort.. he was ok with that. Mei rested in his hold, listening to his heart beat as he finally burned out. And there they rested in the ashes, he world around them dark, cold, and silent. But not lonely. Never lonely..
Hope you enjoyed! And thank you so much @dr-chalk for introducing this concept, i know we were all thinking it but the way you put it into light inspired me :D

4th day of that October Lmk prompt thing - Peaches/Theif
I was originally going to draw something- but completely forgot and got too lazy to start something so I decided to write a small oneshot of my Lmk OC and wukong! Again, this is very lazy- I am being very lazy- sorry!
It was a lovely day; the warm sun let the tiger’s colors glow, and the soft breeze kept her cool. It was peaceful as it often was. Li let out a sigh as she sat down below a tree. Her job was simple: keep the artifacts and island safe. Easy. Nothing bad every happened. At least that’s what she believed.
Her ears perked up as she heard distant taps on the ground. She recognized the sound as footsteps and immediately got to her paws. She narrowed her eyes for a moment as she took her in surroundings…When she heard nothing more she sighed then went to sit down…
“Boo!”
Li jumped, spinning around. She was expecting a fight, but quickly grew annoyed and disappointed when her beloved ginger monkey demon stood in front of her with a wide smirk. He laughed loudly,
“I did it! I scared the oh so scary guardian!” he teased as he slung an arm around her shoulder. She sighed, rolling her eyes playfully.
“You didn’t scare me, Wukong.” Li insisted as she caught a glimpse of Wukong holding something. She grumbled when she realized when he had done and moved to grab the artifact he was holding. He moved it away just as quickly.
“Hey! I stole this from you fairly! I’ll easily make a trade with you, though,” Wukong said. He held the artifact out of her reach with a playful smile.
“Sun Wukong! I can get in trouble for this, just give it to me,” Li snapped. Wukong shook his head, “C’mon! You’re always protecting this thing instead of hanging out with me!” He complained, to which Li sighed. “We will hang out, I promise! I just need that back first,” she argued.
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
Their little chat ended as quickly as it had begun. Wukong gave Li a quick side hug then threw the artifact up. Li jumped up to gently grab the artifact then inspect it once she landed to make sure Wukong hadn’t damaged it at all. That would be her luck. But there was no damage, no scratches or anything.
“It’s a date then, Li! No take backs!” Wukong called out as he ran off. Li felt her face get warm, but she ignored it and smiled softly as she watched him run out of view. That wasn’t a bad day to Li. not at all.
(Here’s a reallllyyyyyy old drawing of these two)

Could you please write some domestic headcanons for reader and wukong? Love your story btw^^ (or more like the concept lol)
Awww thank you, I wanted to do a slight twist to the isekai trope that explains how the reader got transported to another world. Although, the reader is far from the only one. She just happens to survive the transmigration... Kind of. I'm honestly kind of excited to start writing the first chapter soon. It's going to be one hell of a ride.
Now to those domestic headcanons, hope there are no spelling errors, I manage to break my Grammarly keyboard every single time I write something-
Tumblr media
(Don't you dare judge the quality I was rushing through so badly then I realized I forgot how to fucking draw. I'm going to post some art here, it's going to be meh quality just until I get used to drawing again.)
- At first, it took a good while for you guys to settle down in one place. With you enjoying the urban lifestyle. Since it made visiting shops, friends, and just having a fun day out way easier. Wukong prefers to be isolated, his only interactions being mostly with Mk and you. However, after Wukong complains for the 100th time, you move to Flower Fruit Mountain under the condition he takes you out every few days into the city and that your friends can come and visit every once in a while.
- Surprisingly, he tries to renovate and spruce things up. House feeling a little small? Want a room for your things specifically? He and his clones will start making preparations (Also maybe ask Mk and the gang for help on what exactly to do and if he's desperate enough, he'll ask DBK for some advice.) Slowly but surely, the once small hut becomes more home-like. Then when you're both satisfied, he'll move on making the pathway to the house to the entrance of the waterfall. Cleaning up any debris or rumble of pillars and crumbling murals of the past. It was by your constant nagging that he restores it, getting rid of vines and moss.
- Other than wandering around or chilling at the house you literally have nothing to do. As much as it was a nice thought of spending most of the day doing your hobby, you physically don't have enough willpower to do it every day. One day while laying around, you noticed how dusty and unorganized the house truly was. So that is how you got stuck with cleaning and keeping things organized. Yet that didn't stop there, you noticed small things like a creaky loose floorboard. That you managed to fix after searching for how to on your phone. The sink isn't draining properly, drain cleaner is already on the need-to-buy list. The problem still not solve, time to put in some elbow grease and hope you won't get too dirty.
- However, you're definitely not touching his little hoard that he has been collecting over the centuries. The last thing you want is to release some ancient curse or break something that was once important.
- He can't cook, don't even try to make him, you don't want another fire, so get that cookbook open and pray you made something edible. Over the months you had gotten better, but there's much to improve. Yet, complete failure or not, Wukong still tries it out since he is immortal, it won't kill him, and the last thing he wants is for you to get seriously sick from food poisoning. If the food was not edible, then he's either going to get takeout or you both are going out to eat, give him a few minutes to throw up the abomination you created out his stomach.
- It's only fair that he washes the dishes. You make breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it's the least he can do. (That's if he still suffers from food poisoning, it's your turn to wash the dishes.) He picks up around the kitchen, any produce you left out back in the fridge. Spices in the cupboard in their usual spots. He knows you do a lot around the house, so it's now his turn to help.
- There's one chore you both do together, it's washing and putting the clothes away. You separate the clothing in their respective pile, while Wukong loads the washer. Whoever hears the washer finishes, loads the dryer, (cough you cough). Then when the loads are done, you guys come together and fold the clothes. While watching tv to pass the time. Although Wukong likes to make a big scene whenever he grabs your underwear or bra, it was only natural that you do the same with his boxers. You guys now know each other's undergarments and clothes sizes after that. Well, it makes shopping easier.
- Wukong kept his word and takes you to the city, and if you want a vacation away from the mountain. He got a temple ready to stay at and landmarks to show you. Over the years, he saw many things and wants to show you all of them. He never liked big crowds, so going to festivals was never his thing until he finds out you enjoy it. Well, looks like he's hanging out with the gang in the city, yaaay... Just make sure you're beside him for a good portion of the time there.
- He was a little hesitant about inviting the gang to the house, but he couldn't say no to both the student that he considers like his own son, Mk and his darling lover, the love of his life, you. In all honestly, Mk and you had already planned a day to bring the group over, and you guys decided to tell him last minute. Even though he would like a heads up, so he can reject the idea, strangely the simian doesn't mind. He had nearly forgotten that the mountain could feel so... warm and lively.
- Just be warned now that he has you beside him 24/7, this touch-starved monkey will be cuddling and kissing you, the first chance he gets. Don't fall for his tricks, he's a sneaky one.
- You made a small habit to groom his fur. Running your fingers through, him relaxing within your hold. If there's a comb or brush, you will get out any tangles or knots. His fur is now soft and fluffy and he is ready for pets and cuddles. You like to spoil him once in while.
- You guys hardly argue or fight, there was a time you even feared that the honeymoon phase will be over and then reality will hit. Yet it hasn't, maybe because Wukong is actually trying to be a better person so he can stay by your side. Also, he saw you angry once and he will do anything not to get on your bad side... again. Wukong tries to get your thoughts first and asks for people's advice, though he still has trouble speaking his ideas or thoughts. Being alone for centuries will do a lot of damage to a person’s psyche.
- So things are pretty peaceful, Wukong is opening up more and you managed to have a happy life despite the odds being against you. Now it's time to answer the question, will you become immortal and join Wukong for eternity, or prolonged/have your regular human lifespan? Sadly, Wukong wouldn't be able to handle your death. It will take all of his last remaining time to ever move on...
Wait a minute-

Aw I hope you feel better! I loved this idea, please enjoy!!
"Darned Germs" (803 w.c)
SWK, Macaque, and Spider Queen x GN!Sick!Reader
Romantic Oneshot
Pronouns: you/yours
CW: sickness, mentions of food/eating, a single joke about eating people
Tumblr media
“Gods, you’re burning up!”
Macaque took the thermometer from you with wide eyes. You could really only nod, and even then it was hard to really move. You were lying in his bed, since you had spent the night after watching movies with him, however you awoke feeling as if you were on fire. He had gotten you set up with plenty of fluids and an ice pack on your forehead, but it wasn’t helping as much as he had hoped. He took out his phone, typing up some messages.
“What’re you doing?” You asked, your words slurring. His tail was swishing as his expression was concerned.
“I’m calling in the big guns.”
Not even half an hour later, your other two partners appeared. Wukong came in the door first, and held it open as Spider Queen came in with some grocery bags. Macaque helped to take their coats.
“Queenie, I told you, I had food covered.” He protested, raising an eyebrow at how much she was actually carrying. She shook her head, stepping into the apartment’s kitchen and opening the fridge. It was nearly barren, save for some leftover takeout and a single plum.
“Yes, because this’ll be enough to nurse a whole army back to health. Gimme time, and I’ll have just the remedy for this blasted fever,” she tied all her dark hair back into a bun and then moved past the monkeys to where you were. Upon seeing you, it was like she was going full mom-mode—the term Wukong had coined after she had made a habit of fretting over you, him, and Macaque on a normal basis. “Oh, sweetheart, look at you!”
“Hi Queenie…” you reached out to her and she enveloped you in a hug.
“How’d this happen? Who was so cruel to pass on these germs to you?!”
“I dunno,” you spoke into her chest. Even though you loved the attention, you were still very warm. She pressed the back of her hand to your forehead. “But I’m really tired…”
“That’s okay. You just lay back while I go make something to help, alright? No work, no nothin’ until you’re better.” She gave the crown of your head a kiss before stepping out of the bedroom to go begin the meal. Wukong came in next, with Macaque trailing behind him.
“Hey, peaches. You okay?” He sat on the edge of the bed, leaning over and kissing your cheek.
“Not so much. I’m drinking water and stuff, but I still feel cruddy.” You said.
“Aw, well no worries! We’ll take care of you!” He reached into his own bag, that you didn’t even realize he’d brought in, and retrieved a stuffed bear. You happily accepted the plush, hugging it tightly.
“Thanks Wukong!! I love him!” You smiled. He smiled back. Him and Macaque settled onto the bed, making small talk. Every now and then they’d pause and remind you to drink water, before resuming and grooming each other a little bit. Eventually a wonderful smell wafted through the air. All three of you went to the bedroom doorway and looked toward the kitchen.
Queenie stood facing the stove, her sleeves rolled up and a hand on her hip as she stirred something in a pot. She taste tested some of it, before shaking her head and adding some herbs to the mixture.
Sensing the pairs of eyes on her, she turned her head, gaze softening as she saw you all looking toward her. She taste tested again, this time nodding, and then she motioned for you to come over. Wukong moved forward first, practically salivating, and Macaque rolled his eyes and scooped you up bridal style. He carried you over to his table, sitting you down and then going to get dishes.
Once everyone was set up at the table, the queen scooped some of the stew from the pot and into the bowls in front of you and the others.
“This recipe’s warded off sickness from me and my boys for ages,” the boys in question being her henchmen who she said were also her subjects. “So I want you two to eat it as well, just to be on the safe side.”
“Promise there’s no meat or people in it.” Wukong joked, remembering what her diet could consist of.
“Relax, I wouldn’t feed y’all that stuff! It’s just veggies and herbs. Now dig in!”
Indeed, you all ate as if your lives depended on it, but really, it was just that delicious. Macaque noticed you were tired after the fact, so he helped to set you up in his bed again, opting to sleep on his own couch. In the morning, you awoke and felt as if the fever had never even been there, snuggled up with a happy stomach and your new stuffed bear.

SYNTAX X READER
Lego Monkie Kid
Context: This damn spider. You let him in your house. He finds your weakness. You let him torture you and funny, it's with anything but pain. He's not going to let you live this down, not for a long time. Lo and behold, it's bittersweet chaos and you won't be the same for awhile.
TW: Syntax hauls your ass up lover's lane (just some flirtatious banter), oh and there's language
‧˚₊꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒦꒷‧₊˚⊹‧˚₊꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒷꒦︶︶︶︶︶꒦꒷‧₊˚⊹
Today should've been any normal day.
Should being the operative word here, because any day with a spider demon is never really 'normal'.
You're currently scrapbooking, attempting to plan out your month before the stress of future events gets to you. The idea is a foreign concept; ever since one of your friends mentioned how useful their monthly planner has been to them, you'd decided to try it out. So far, you've gotten properly distracted with doodles and not much with progress.
The soft glow outside is a warm reminder of the sun sinking slowly beyond the city buildings scattered on the west side of Megapolis, casting a pretty sheen across your desk and journal.
You look up for the third time, and by now you're hardly surprised at the scene before you.
Syntax is looking at you strangely, and frankly, it's a little auspicious.
No, like seriously weird. It's not his off-the-rocker normal attitude, no, he's on a different level today. This includes awkward side glances, excited 'lil grins, and hands that won't stop moving. They're in his hair, tapping away on the counter, or entering pointless codes into his tech-watch. A few times you'd even caught him blushing.
You know something is up, yes. Detective little you.
Currently, he's in the kitchen, stashing away the latest groceries you'd went shopping for. Perhaps throwing together a devious plan that confirms your suspicions regarding his behavior.
He says your name.
You look up, expression a perfect picture of one who'd been caught doing something naughty.
Like assuming their partner is up to something along the same lines.
"Y-Yeah? What's up?" You ask, masking the nerves by redirecting your attention to the scrapbook journal. The spider demon shuts the fridge, walking around the kitchen to stand a little ways from you.
"Would you like to make a dinner reservation for tonight?" Syntax hums, eyeing you curiously.
The way he speaks has your fingers curling tighter around the pen in your hand.
Dinner?
Sure, the notion is innocent enough, but you're playing detective right now, aren't you?
So why?
Frowning, you collect the torn shreds of a sheet of paper that you hadn't even realized you'd mutilated and toss them in the little trashcan partnering your leg. "Um. What's the occasion?"
"Occasion? Love, I simply want to enjoy a meal with you in a more professional atmosphere," Syntax offers, tilting his head.
You squint at him. "Uh-huh. What's wrong with take-out?"
Hints of your suspicion finally seep through the cracks. Syntax cocks a brow, matching your slight frown as he steps closer. His movements are small, but have a deep and prologue effect on your nerves as he plants one hand on the desk and stuffs the other in his pocket. It's those simple gestures that get you thinking he's trying to convey something to you. Fighting control over your heart, you look up and lock eyes with the spider demon.
"Take-out? Really, darling," Syntax says, sighing. Warm breath fans your face and suddenly, your cheeks grow hot. "A little bit more of that and you'll have to visit a dietitian for a healthier diet recommendation. What I want is a little variety."
Ah, well, do you feel stupid now. The walls are laughing at the way you'd jumped to a miserable conclusion and won't give the kick your thoughts need to function.
Detective? Nah.
Sherlock is rolling in his grave at your antics.
Tugging at the strings of embarrassment tying in knots around your heart, you clear your throat. "Uh. Yeah, okay. Sounds good."
Syntax blinks. "Really. That fast?"
"You'd just be an asshole if I refused," you deadpan.
The spider demon chuckles, leaning back. "Well, consider me relieved. And, ah . . . should I hope to see a bit more of this submissive behavior further on?" He ads mischievously.
You stare.
SUSPICIOUS.
"No!" You cry, swatting his shoulder and standing up so fast you almost knock the journal from the desk. "Where did that come from??"
"Why? Does it get you riled up?"
"Fuck you, that's why!"
Syntax is grinning like an idiot as you drag him outside. No. He has not won this. You'll fight till you die.
Detective (Y/N) is coming for revenge, yessir.
***
"Noooo, please stop talking!" You gasp, thumping your forehead on the table separating you and your lover. "This isn't fair. You can be an asshole but you can't be a bully!"
Syntax chuckles in disbelief. "I'm not a bully! I was simply giving sage advice on your conversational tactics."
Oh, he'd better be joking.
"Telling me I act like a child trying to socialize with millennials isn't my idea of sage advice!"
A hand finds your arm and gently brushes the sleeve back. Fingers dance along your bare skin, and you fight a shiver crawling up your spine as Syntax hums. "Well, if not that, then you've got a dastardly reputation for gossip going haywire. Replying to news about the loss of a family pet with, 'oh, yeah, that's nice,' doesn't exactly qualify as good conversation material."
Your defense flares up like a trapped animal, but you manage a sarcastic laugh at the absurdity of the situation. "It's not my fault. Sometimes I don't understand but I hate having to ask people to repeat themselves! I would've said something better had I known."
Syntax props his chin on folded hands, amused. "Like what?"
"I dunno, 'I'm sorry for your loss' . . . 'you wanna new pet because you should totally take advantage of the way I use my money right now'," you joke.
Your partner notices the eye roll and snorts; "Mind you, I am not the reason you've been spending money unwisely."
"Are too. I'm a sucker for spoiling assholes."
He smirks at that, seemingly content to just study your features. His eyes follow your jawline, down to the shirt you'd decided to wear today, full of soft curiosity. As though going through all the possible interactions he could have, all the ones he'd want to have. And then, he picks one.
"Well… I think it's adorable."
You glance up, having been staring at the table for a full minute. Syntax smiles lazily as you frown. "Uh-huh. Liar."
Adorable your ass.
The spider demon's expression is alight with excitement. This is what's been nagging at him all day. This is the result of his hair-pulling, blushing mess of a self back home.
"Love, I promise honesty is my best virtue . . . for the time being," he ads, catching your expression. Then, he clears his throat and tries again, his anxiety revealed only by the way he hides his hands. Everything else is soft smiles and smug eyes. "I would never lie to you. It would put a frown to your lovely features, and I'm afraid I can't allow that."
You quirk an eyebrow, heart skipping a beat. Just to spite him, you frown deeply. "Like you're doing a good job of that."
"Hmm. Then tell me, what's your love language?"
"W-What?"
You lean back in your seat, looking around wildly in case anyone heard your idiot. Truth be told, the restaurant he'd taken you to is so full of customers you can hardly hear the family at the table behind yours. So Syntax is playing it smart. His little scheme must not be heard by anyone's ears but yours, and where better to host it than at the busiest restaurant in the city?
Slowly, you feel your cheeks heat up. Fuck him. Royally fuck him.
"I-I don't have a love language," you stutter, looking away and fighting a smile.
Syntax's grin is shark-toothed. "Well, if you're curious to find out your love language, we can have a conversation about it some time."
Ah.
You promptly die.
"Noho, stop! This is so much worse than your assholeriness!"
Your flustered cry certainly brought about some attention to your predicament, given the few waiters and waitresses who glance your way. But they pass by without comment, leaving you to the mercy of your idiot, who's actively confirming what you'd suspected earlier in the day.
"I see," Syntax says thoughtfully, eyes narrowed as he considers which path to take He smirks; "Do you prefer pick-up lines, then?"
You bluster a laugh. "Wha- no. Don't you dare."
"Too late. I've been meaning to try a few that I dug up from the internet," Syntax continues, ignoring your whisper/yelled pleas, eyes flashing with excitement.
"Syntax-"
He looks you up and down. "I swear, someone stole the stars from the sky and put them in your eyes."
Oh lord.
You clap a hand over your mouth, trying to suppress the laugh clawing its way upwards. The blush, however, is something you can't hide.
"Bro-"
"You know, I'm surprised the restaurant hasn't asked you to leave yet," the scientist says, eyes sparkling. "You're so beautiful, you're making everyone else look bad."
You cover your face. "NO. That is SO CHEESY."
"Well, you hit the mark. Aren't pick-up lines supposed to be cheesy?"
"You can't do this!" You snort, face breaking into a smile.
He catches it, copies it with amplified intensity, and launches another attack. "I never knew what I wanted in a partner until I me you, love."
"Syntaaaax-"
"I was thinking, after we'd finished here, I'd take you to the movies, but they don't let you bring in your own snacks," Syntax says, voice laced with fondness and pride. His shark-toothed grin widens impeccably when you burst into a fit of laughter, hands covering your face as you burden the backrest of the chair with 75% of your weight. The spider demon's brilliant green eyes relish in all your beauty, and he's somewhat in awe at how easily he's rendered you helpless.
Honestly, his attempts to flirt with you are so cheesy that you can't help it. The groan that leaves your aching lungs after the laugh attack is paired with your arms as you lay your upper body across the table. He's not being fair, and you're obsessed with it.
Then, you make the mistake of meeting his eyes.
Syntax freezes.
"Ah- are you blushing?"
Your breath catches in your throat, and you're left looking as though you'd been caught stealing cookies. "Ah- fuck. No. No!"
"Oh my- you are!" Syntax says, astonished. Wide eyes look you up and down, and his victory only widens his smile. "This is - was I the cause of this?? I-I never thought I-"
You look around wildly; no one's caught wind of your shenanigans. "No! I was only laughing 'cause of how stupid your pick-up lines are," you bluster.
There is no way you'll recover from this anytime soon.
"Darling, if you were a taser, you'd be set to 'stun'," Syntax hums, eyes devouring the way you melt under his words.
"Nooo!"
You're breathless with laughter, eyes blurry with tears as you look up. Syntax's smile is warm and full of awe, as though he can't believe what's happening. "I'd like you see you like this more often, my love," he murmurs, taking your hand in his and tracing your skin with his thumb. Your heart stutters. "Your smile is a remarkable piece of work I wish I could download into my metaphorical database to look at it whenever I like."
Flustered, you're eyes widen. "I- uhm . . . w-won't it get dull, then?"
"I seriously doubt it."
You simply stare, trying to think of something to say to counter him.
But at that moment, footsteps pause by your table, and you're inclined to greet the passerby. Eyes slowly sliding up the stranger who'd stopped, you instantly recognize the trademark orange jacket, the red band in his black hair, and the cheery glint in their eyes. MK. The fucking Monkie Kid. Quickly, you draw your hand out from Syntax's grasp, praying to God MK didn't hear anything.
Your eyes find each other's, and suddenly, the dude you've known for months now breaks into the widest smile you've ever seen.
"No. WAY. Nice to see you here, (Y/N)!"
"Yeaaaah!" You say, standing up. One; you need to hide Syntax from MK's line of sight and two; your plates are clear and it's time to go. "You, too! What're you doing here?"
MK side steps to reveal Mei, the dragon girl who's equally chaotic, and your heart drops a few more inches.
"Oh, just trying out every single food in every restaurant."
Mei flashes a grin. "So far the sushi's best."
"Yeah, glad that was a mutual agreement," MK laughs, running a hand through his hair. Then, his eyes dart behind you, and you realize Syntax had stood up to confront his foes. Not yours, mind you. His.
The dragon girl's eyes slide up, too. "Oh. OH. (Y/N)! Spider demon at six o'clock," she whisper/yells.
"Wha-" You glance over your shoulder to find Syntax giving the fucking evil eye to both your friends. He probably considers the dinner date absolutely wrecked just because the two goofball's existences have been made known. The tension between the three of them is so apparent you can feel it crackling. "Oh. Oh, yeah, um, this is Syntax. You remember, right? I introduced you guys to each other."
Syntax turns his nose upwards. "To my utmost displeasure."
Mei sticks his tongue out at him while MK simply shrivels, taking a step behind the dragon girl. "R-Riiiight. Nice to meet you again, um, mister spider - eurgh - scientist."
While MK mentally hurls, Mei studies the two of you.
At the way Syntax's hand snakes around your waist. You're too late to swat him off, because Mei suddenly blinks, eyes filling with understanding and mischief. A smile spreads slowly across her face. "Wait, are we interrupting something?"
"Huh?" MK ponders, eyes wide.
Mei grabs his arm, shaking it lightly as she beams at him. "Dude, we just interrupted (Y/N)'s date."
A pause.
All four of you stare at each other in turn, until MK breaks it.
"IS THAT WHAT THIS IS-" He points at you, eyes practically stars as he bounces on the spot.
Your hands shoot up to shush him, panic sending a thrill through you. "No! This isn't what it looks like, we're just having dinner - wait that sounds even WORSE-"
By now you've attracted a fair amount of attention from onlookers. Your face flushes deeply and you briefly wish the ground would open up underneath you. But MK and Mei are smirking knowingly, shooting each other eyebrow wiggles that make you literally push them aside to walk past.
Someone catches your arm.
"(Y/N), I hardly think you're being fair to your friends," Syntax hums, eyes flashing with amusement as he tugs you back against him.
You let out a squeak of alarm. "wHA-"
"Are you afraid to admit you've been embarking on a romantic rendezvous with me?" The spider demon says, eyes flashing with an unspoken challenge. But they're warm, so incredibly warm and simply admiring your features.
Mei and MK let out a simultaneous, "OOoooooh!"
Fuck this.
You're taking this elsewhere or you'll stop it right in its dastardly tracks. Customers have been staring for the past two minutes. With an embarrassed huff, you tug at Syntax's sleeve.
"C'mon. Bye, MK, Mei. I'll . . . I'll see you guys later," you grit out, ducking out of view as you pass them.
Mei winks. "Have fun!"
"With a spider demon?" MK whispers; "Bet."
"You're on."
You roll your eyes, glaring at a spot on the floor as you practically drag your idiot out of the restaurant and into the open. Fresh air bathes your face, clearing your thoughts and the congested ocean of emotions they'd been suffocating in. For a moment you stand there, ignoring the people walking by, and simply breathing.
Dinner date gone wrong. Or did it? Sure, it was embarrassing, but it was fun and your heart swells.
Someone taps your shoulder. You know who it is before you turn.
"My hand is feeling a bit heavy," Syntax says softly, eyes locked on your face. He cracks a small smile that says everything. "Care to hold it for me?"
You blush. "You don't have to ask, y'know."
"Well, then." Fingers lace through yours, squeezing gently. Megapolis seems less cold with Syntax around. "I'll remember that."
"You'd better."

i feel like felix is the kind of guy who'd hint that he's into you by giving you baked goods. he's in one of your classes, quite known for being so sweet, and so friendly. unbeknownst to you, you caught his attention from the first day. he's just never gotten the guts to actually talk to you. one day though, he gathers enough courage to sit beside you and make small talk. it's so easy to warm up to him, always so sweet, conversations with him never fail to make your day. soon enough, he'd start hinting that he likes you by bringing you baked goods.
the first time comes in the form of a brownie. as usual, he seats himself onto the seat beside you, flashing a sweet smile before passing a small container to you. "i made brownies for my frat mates yesterday night, had some extras. want them?" of course, that's a lie. he made them with the intentions of giving some to you.
the next time, it's chocolate chip cookies. this continues until one valentine's day — the day he finally asks you out. this time, a cute box awaits you. it's a pavlova — a dessert fancier than the ones he usually bakes. "did you have a special occasion, lixie?" you question. he responds with a nervous laughter, "mm. i baked this one specifically for you, actually. would you like to... grab coffee some time? together? just us?"
you've never said yes to something so fast.
