The more reasonable side of Gladio’s brain wanted to say ‘You’re fifteen, do what you want as long as you’re safe.’ or to refer to Monica or Dustin for any ‘adult’ supervision since he and the retinue were really only stopping by to replenish supplies and stay the night of the Festival before continuing on.

But, then. He remembered the day she’d called Noctis when she’d first settled into Lestaullum with the remnants of the once strong and impressive Crownsguard. When Prompto had perked up upon hearing the Shield had a sister, asking if she’d asked about him and his face immediately soured. It was nearly the same reaction he had when they’d arrived in Hammerhead and met Cindy. And that made his stomach turn despite his blond companion not yet anything much about her.

“You can go to the festival but, you’re not going out with Prompto alone. You know how that’d look. It’d look like a date and that’s ridiculous.”

Death had its perks, Clarus realized. It meant that not only could he move about as he pleased but he could check in on his children from time to time. He focused his efforts on doing small things in the physical world to help them. With Iris it would be a simple reminder to eat or a gentle wind moving through her hair.

With Gladiolus, it was as much wind movement as he could muster to move him when he was about to be hit. He also made sure Gladio slept.

With Ignis, he ran the wind through the boy’s hair, pointing him to ingredients he needed.

He loved all of them deeply and it hurt the ghost to know that he couldn’t help aside from a few touches here and there. Though he was curious about what the three of them were doing now. He had followed the children to the graveyard, tilting his head at his son and daughter crying. What had they done?

It was then, when Clarus moved to be near them that he saw the stone epitaph.

Clarus Amicitia.

701 M.E-756 M.E

Had they truly gotten him his own headstone? Even if his body had been lost to time, they had given him a resting place. He honestly didn’t think of it. He was fine with not having one but he supposed that it would be a good thing for his children. A place to come and sit and talk to him. It would be there that he would wait. He would listen to their problems, to their joys. He would smile and cry on his own side.

He loved them. And he hoped they knew that.

Iris had come out of practically nowhere with the hug that now ensnared the Oracle. Luna had found herself returning the hug without even thinking of it. She had looked up to this girl for so long. She had once thought of her as a sister but perhaps there could be something more?

Then again, Lunafreya was not good at relationships.

The blonde simply laughed in the girl's ear, kissing her temple, holding her a tiny bit tighter.

"We keep going, Iris. I think we both need a hug."

The little six-year-old smiled as she made her way to the little horn God. She smiled as she climbed up his arm like a tree then sat on his shoulder as she played with his horns ( littlestshield 💖🌸 )

He looks over and watches the human climb about before getting on his shoulders and plays with his horns. Wincing a bit at the sensation, he then looks at the human and stares at her as she once again plays with him.

before kairi can try anything else , she hears a thud , & one of her captors drops to the floor , revealing a girl no bigger than kairi herself . another one falls , this girl’s strong for her size , & kairi tries her best to wriggle out of her ties in the chaos.

the fight doesn’t last long , & now , the girl stands before her , & the princess looks up at her through narrowed eyes. she’s managed , at least , so she can speak clearly .

‘ who....who are you ?? how did you find me ?? ’

a beat of pause.

9. Monster - Skillet Teen Gladio, Clarus and Clarus’ father’s internal monolouge imo. I keep it caged but I can't control it. So stay away from me, the beast is ugly I feel the rage and I just can't hold it.

10. I loved her first - Heartland Gladio and Clarus @ Iris. It’s no question these two grouchy, gruff men are soft on her. And if anyone was LUCKY enough to end up with Iris it wouldn’t be without grilling and pestering from those two. But I loved her first, I held her first and a place in my heart will always be hers. From the first breath she breathed, When she first smiled at me. I knew the love of a father runs deep.

11. The Best Day - Taylor Swift Imo Gladio looking back on his childhood after everything he’s been through. Perhaps talking at a grave ;a; I have an excellent father his strength is making me stronger. The Gods smile on my little sister inside and out she's better than I am. I grew up in a pretty house and I had space to run and I had the best days with you...
