ive never really interacted with the fandom so im just gonna drop two headcanons and hope im not blown up lmao
ive thought for years sora should have a chest scar after kh1 but now im even more queer than i was back then so take a self-indulgent trans hc
Tumblr media
so the idea is like...when he used the keyblade of heart on himself, that caused the vertical scar
but what about the like...top scar part? he's a teen how does that work. see. i already had a hc that when kairi held his heartless she didn't just "magically make him human again." he was already more conscious than most heartless, and kairi's attempt to protect him (+ maybe a little bit of princess magic lmao) was what was needed to sorta "snap him out of it" and regain full autonomy. the reason he looks the way he does is either that's how he and/or kairi saw him. trans rights :]
i'd think in CoM he wouldn't have the vertical scar as he doesn't technically have his body (instead roxas having it?) but after the intro to KH2 the scar is completed
i kinda prefer the first one bc that's what's been in my head for days but i needed to throw in a symbol lol
anyways yeah if any lore is wrong uhhh im super rusty sorry
follow me for more self-indulgent headcanons /j

Melody of Memory Theory (SPOILERS)
Why Kairi May be More Powerful than We Think:
At the end of Melody of Memory, Xeanort explains that he was testing Kairi's power as a princess of heart by seeing if she would "resonate" with a keyblade wielder's heart. Because Xeanort is using this quality as criteria to test if she was a princess of heart, we can infer that part of a POH's ability is to have deep connections with keyblade wielders. Looking at every POH (Alice, Jazmine, Belle, Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, and Kairi) ALL of them have had a meaningful interaction with a keyblade wielder at some point. Sora tries to free Alice in Wonderland, Sora tries to save Jazmine in Agrabah, Sora helps Belle with the Beast in kh2, Terra tries to take Auroras heart in bbs, Ventus tries to help with Cinderella's dress, and Aqua helps the Prince wake up Snow White. Not to mention the player, a keyblade wielder, encounters most of these princesses in the mobile game to help them in some way. Even the new seven hearts (Rapunzel, Elsa, etc.) are immediately introduced to Sora, who, at that point, was choosing where to go based on what felt right in his heart. This would have to mean that keyblade wielders are perpetually linked to POHs to help them (besides Terra and Riku ofc bc they went through angsty phases with the darkness.)
Now, let's look at Kairi based on this connection. She succeeds in finding not one, but two keyblade wielders as a child (Sora and Riku) to help her by providing her with a safe home and to get her away from Xeanort, *subconsciously, not even trying.* Then, as a pre-treen, she ends up inside Sora's, a keyblade wielder's heart, to keep her safe. (Yes, I'm aware this is from Aqua's spell, I'm getting to that). This only happens because of her "chance" encounter with Aqua and Mickey years before, who, upon meeting her, are determined they must protect her for no other reason than the "strong light" she has. The benefits of their meeting takes a decade to show up, but its just another example of the heart connection POHs have with keyblade wielders. Nobody has a clear explanation to *why* they want to help Kairi, they just *know* they have to help her and intervene. Meeting Mickey and Aqua was no accident. Meeting Riku and Sora was no accident. It's her *power* as a POH. Kairi getting the keyblade, under this theory, can fall under the "help" that she gets from keyblade wielders, since Aqua didn't mean to bequeath her. Yet, Kairi gets bequeathed, enabling her to better defend herself in the future from Xeanort. I personally think Kairi getting the keyblade is because of her connection with keyblade wielders and her ability as a POH to always receive help from them. What better way to help a POH than giving her a keyblade of her own to protect herself from high profile enemies?
And for Kairi, this connection goes BOTH WAYS. She helps out keyblade wielders as well (resurrecting Sora in kh1, getting Sora and Riku out of the Realm of Darkness in kh2, helping defeat Xeanort in kh3, and getting a lead on Sora's whereabouts in MoM.) It's a symbiotic relationship for her. A you help me, I'll help you kind of thing.
With all of this being said, MoM is the icing on the cake. The reason I think Kairi is incredibly powerful is the final boss in MoM. When Kairi is in trouble, and her own keyblade is failing her, not only does she wield Sora's, she *becomes* Sora. NOTHING like this has ever been done in the series before. Sure, D-links in bbs allows one character to use a small amount of another's abilities. Sure, summons allow a character to bring a helper in from another world and have them join the party. Sure, Mickey saves Sora from time to time in kh2. BUT NOTHING LIKE THIS HAS BEEN DONE. Her heart quite literally reaches out to Sora and borrows him, all because of the deep connection she has with keyblade wielders as a POH to get help from them and get help *for them*, as winning this battle gives Kairi the information she needs to allow Riku to visit the world he's allegedly in. The implications of this are incredible, because Kairi doesn't meerly summon a memory of Sora, because if she did, he would be able to talk, but like Xeanort says, he cannot speak because of the world he is currently in, meaning that the Sora she summons exists in REAL TIME! She is able to temporarily summon Sora (or piece of him - maybe his heart-)*across realms*, wield his keyblade, become him, and have control of *all* of his powers. I-... Imagine if Nomura built on this mechanic for her, like if she were at critical health, she can momentarily embody Sora or any other keyblade wielder. I guess it would sort of work as a drive form. Anyway, I'm getting carried away.
It is also my theory that the desire to help and protect Kairi existing in every keyblade wielder's heart, bc she is a POH, is why she has been benched so often. They can't bring themselves to let her go out on her own if they can avoid it, because of their determination to help and protect her. It's why Riku reacts so harshly for her wanting to go with him at the end of MoM, *but he can't form a single sentence to explain why* until Kairi relents and supplies the reason, her training, for him.
All of this being said, I really hope Kairi training under Aqua gives the others confidence in her, and that she can finally have an adventure of her own, hopefully exploring her powers as a POH. I really hope the unique link she had with Sora at the end of MoM comes into play again, because I personally believe it was Kairi in his body/borrowing his power, and I'd love to see that develop overtime.
Anyway, this is just my personal theory. It probably has holes but its how I'm coping with the ending for now 🤠

Hey got a kh fic au for y’all.
Modern au
Sora lives his whole life thinking he’s got DID
His alters are Vanitas, Roxas, and Ventus
They occasionally come out and use the body, and Sora is mostly back inside his ‘heart space’ though sometimes he is co-con
Sometimes they are just missing time/memories though that they just can’t account for, other times they seem to live out very real lives based on their memories that seem to have nothing to do with the system’s ‘real life’
So all of his family and friends are familiar with everyone in the Lonely Hearts system.
Obviously all of them have their own memories and feelings and whatnot but everyone is sure that the 4 of them just share a body
And then one day Sora is out with Riku and Kairi and he just stops and stares
Someone is standing across the way looking into a store window - someone ridiculously familiar
Sora just turns to his friends and says, ‘are you seeing this? Am I hallucinating?’ And obviously they’re both like ‘what the heck are you talking about?’
And Sora just walks over and taps the guy on the shoulder, Riku and Kairi right behind him
And then flesh and blood Vanitas is right in front of him.
They’re both just staring at each other, obviously getting more and more freaked out about who’s in front of them
“Is this some kind of joke?!” Vanitas’ voice is at best strangled and at worst a squeak. Sora finally finds his voice
“Vanitas?” And both of his friends finally figure out what is going on - and looking at him, sure, it’s clear this new guy looks exactly like how Vanitas dresses when he’s fronting.
Long story short it turns out Vanitas is real and has been living his whole life thinking Sora was one the alters from *his* system.
This means that the lives that Sora thinks he dreams up in his heart space are him using other people’s bodies in the real world - living out their lives too
And then all at once a realization. If they’re both physical people, that probably means Roxas and Ventus are too.
They exchange phone numbers and set out to track down the other 2.
Sora ends up finding Ventus first. He shows up at his address and knocks on the door. Aqua answers and gets kind of a funny look on her face, this kid seems really familiar.
And then he reintroduces himself as Sora - making her just freeze for a moment. She *does* know him. She knows him and is good friends, always a bit goofy but a nice kid, she just doesn’t know him in this body
(Ventus had tried to describe his alters to Terra once, and he managed to draw them pretty accurately. Comparing one of these sketches to Sora pretty much cements who Sora is in Aqua’s mind)
So Aqua lets Sora in to go talk to Ventus, and a minor freak out occurs via Ven when he realizes what’s going on. They even video call Vanitas for a bit - who’s just irritated that Sora beat him.
(Vanitas has got a job that he can’t usually get out of so he’s kind of limited in travel)
“Wait does that mean I have a twin too??”
So they split again and Ven calls dibs on meeting Roxas first.
Shows up in Roxas’s home town, not really sure where he is, but not feeling remotely lost because he’s lived out this life too.
So he runs into Hayner and Pence and they obviously just think it’s Ventus fronting because they look exactly the same - they can’t tell the difference and Ven obviously knows them already
So he’s like, when did you last see Roxas out? And they’re ‘oh I think I last saw him at your house’ - and he’s just like thx bye see ya
(By this time, Sora has managed to make it down too)
So Ven and Sora show up at Roxas’ house and knock on the door, Roxas’s mom answers and is just like ‘oh did you forget your key? I thought you’d come home already. Who’s this?’
‘Oh this is my friends he’s just over for a few minutes’
And then they walk a few feet into door and just yell all at once
“ROXAS!” And Roxas’s mom startles and slams the door.
And they hear Rox fall on his face upstairs and stumble downstairs looking half asleep.
And Rox’s mom is a little very much freaked out by this point
And Roxas is just staring at Ven and Sora, who are both grinning maniacally, and he just slowly reaches over to pinch himself.
“I’m asleep right? I knew I shouldn’t have gotten out of bed”
And then they all tell everybody what happened and they all become reluctant (on Vanitas’s side) friends/brothers. And they all visit everyone else all the time bc obviously everyone is already friends with everybody
The end
Idk I had some thoughts and wanted to write it down but here you go

Me rambling about Soriku and how it’s basically end game:
Seeing Riku and Naminé together is making me think they’re gonna be endgame and I don’t
w a n t I t
Just let me put my gay bois together and it ACTUALLY happen.
We don’t see much of them together (or well that I can remember) but it probably will happen. Sora is with Kairi and Riku will be with Naminé like fjksbwbwb. I just want them to be gay together and it not be like every other game. Boy x girl, boy x girl, BOY X GIRL. I’m straight and I usually love boy x girl but I’d love it if KH was different and decided to stand out. Like. Imagine the ending is them just kissing and it fades to black. The creators are like, “You THOUGHT it was SORA AND KAIRI BUT NOPE,” and honestly that’d be a pretty good surprise and good ending. Like Kairi and Naminé are important to both boys but I mean...Riku and Soras connection is so obviously stronger. Like in my previous post, Riku died to save Sora (even tho it went back in time to fix that bc we couldn’t have Riku dying ;-;). It was his sacrifice.
I consider that as an “I love you.” Mainly because I believe it showed like a flashback (?) of frozen and other places right and showed the “sacrifice” and say that it happened because they loved that person. It’s basically just lowkey telling us that Riku truly loves Sora and literally just gave his LIFE for him.
Sora literally saying Kairi was his light...while she’s IN the tunnel of light like that’s not possible you can’t be the light and be in the tunnel dkanwbwh. He said that even though a few seconds ago he saw the light and called out to the light and said, “Riku!” Plus, he called out to Riku first. He had to physically turn his head to see Kairi. If she was the light, then she wouldn’t have been there in the first place (or I believe so). She would’ve been the light in front of him and he wouldn’t have seen her. But he still called out to Riku AKA the light that’s leading Sora and when he said “answer me!” HE FUCKING DID. It made a little noise or something. Just still showing how close they are and how much Riku believes in him and how much he cares for him. He’s literally leading him back to life (or that’s what I sort of see it as). Like excuse me...straight??? I think not. Plus it also means that Kairi is no longer Soras light...it is now Riku. I may be wrong idk. Correct me if I am.
Plus, in the Castle or Oblivion (or the castle where Sora was losing his memory I believe rkwjwb) someone said that Soras most precious person is here or somewhere near that and what did he sHOuT???
“Riku! You mean Rikus here?!”
Ik that’s probably not exactly the quote. I was looking for it but I never found exactly what he said so...my bad or the quote is wrong. Or if the whole scene was wrong. I was just sure that I remembered that moment djwnbw. Plus, I’m sorry if I’m just getting everything wrong. Idk if it was castle Oblivion or not I just remember the White Castle fjwnbwbw. I told y’all I get lost in these games.
But anyway I won’t allow it in my life. If Sora x Kairi and Riku x Naminé are endgame
Too bad I’ve ignored that decision.
Sorry I’m posting a lot. I just have feelings and emotions and thoughts recently bc im actually thinking and not being stupid nejenwhw. I think. Plus if I’m getting everything wrong or something it’s bc I haven’t played the games in a long time and I’m JUST LOST on different scenes. Plus, this has already been stated by many people I just thought of it now and decided to post it so whoops...I’m late to the tea party I know
EDIT: Nevermind. The quote was, “And you will meet people you miss...” by someone in a black coat so whoops. But he still said what I originally said that Sora said
“Riku! You mean Rikus here?!” That poor little gay boi fjwnwbwh.

👀👀👀👀👀
i dont think any of our fandoms overlap but here’s a portion of a thing i haven’t managed to fit into a bigger whole of “pacrim au for k.ingdom hearts, feat. triple pilots as the norm bc i do what i want” yet \o/ i pulled it from a nano doc so it’s Awful and unrevised in current form but shh.
also hello hello hope the holidays have treated you well!
Terra is trembling.
He’s been trembling for a while, honestly, but since stepping out of Wayfinder’s waterlogged harness, it’s only gotten worse. It perplexes the scientists. Kind of.
They know what to call it—tremors, either cerebellar or psychogenic, they haven’t decided for sure yet—but they don’t get why it’s happening to him. Not yet.
They all have suspicions, though.
Ven sits in the bed adjacent to Terra’s, undergoing his own examination. He seems fine, if teary-eyed and stressed, so after they splint Terra’s fractured leg, they let the two of them go.
Terra leans on one crutch, hands the other to Ven, and lets his co-pilot support him instead. They limp quietly away from the medical ward, quiet in the hall but with minds screaming, the drift alive between them.
Aqua, Aqua, Aqua, they call, but there is no response. It’s just the two of them.
This is wrong, Ven says. She’s not dead.
She’s not dead. Terra tightens his hold on Ven’s arm, gritting his teeth as his limbs shake against his will. The more he thinks about them, the worse they get, but—they’re impossible to ignore. We’ll find her, he promises, Aqua is strong—faith, love—we didn’t feel her die, so she’s not dead.
Agreement. Ven buries his face in Terra’s shoulder as he bears his weight, letting muscle memory and Terra’s vision guide their steps.
There are people along the way but word must’ve gotten around, because for the most part the two of them are left alone. Soft greetings bounce off their hunched backs, meaningless platitudes against the sting of loss. The aching lack of a third must blaze like a spotlight in others’ eyes, it must, because it’s impossible to miss in the turmoil of their own minds calling and calling and calling.
Ven thinks he feels Sora’s thoughts brushing past his in quiet reassurance, but all it does is make him think of how the higher-ups are going to handle this (badly, by shoving the overworked Sora into Aqua’s position and believing that will solve everything), so Ven sends him a clear, bristling sign to back off.
Not now, he hiss-whispers, every thought tinged with distress, and Sora’s presence retracts apologetically.
Normally, Aqua would huff at him with a reprimand of be nice, but she’s not here and he hurts for it. They both hurt for it.
Jack catches them just as they move to their door. “The Master will see you in four hours, at eleven,” he says, less boisterous than usual. If his eyes skate over an empty space to Ven’s other side, nobody says anything about it. “Rescue efforts will be ongoing in the meantime.”
“Thanks,” Terra says, a curt but not unkind dismissal. Ven opens the door as Jack leaves, and the two rangers stumble into the room.
The door slams shut behind them and Terra collapses onto his bed.
“Terra,” Ven says, pressing love love love I know I miss her too at him.
“I can’t stop shaking,” Terra says. He curls his hands into fists against the covers, frustration boiling over. I’m afraid leaks through his thoughts for an instant before he crushes it ruthlessly. I’m not afraid.
I am, Ven responds, curling into his side.
Ven mumbles something intelligible as his mind groans, sleepy, and falls asleep right there. Terra raises a brow.
“Is he asleep again?” Roxas asks, baffled. “This is, what, the fifth time?”
“Maybe he hasn’t been sleeping much,” Sora says. Because of—you know. Sora’s thoughts are a little softer than usual, muddled by the weeks since their last drift together, but they’re still clear enough to understand.
That said, it’s not exactly a pleasant line of conversation. I get that, but… Roxas frowns, reaching over to gently shake the other pilot awake. This seems a little much. He’s not going to be eating enough at this rate.
Sora nods with a small frown, and then pokes a spaced-out Riku (pestering Kairi about something or another, no doubt) with his spoon. “Hey. Do you know where Terra is?”
“Last I heard, he’s having his physical therapy session.” Riku glances over at the slowly-waking Ven, and his eyes soften. “Should we go get him?”
“No,” Ven interjects, finally awake enough to slur his own opinion on the matter. He rubs his eyes with one hand, pushing Roxas’ hand away with the other. “PT’s important. Don’t distract him.”
“Do you want to go back to your room?”
“No. I’m fine.” Ven straightens his back, looking significantly more awake as he rebelliously takes a bite of his food.
Ven claps his hands together. “So, new diagnosis,” he says. “I have narcolepsy. If I get comfortable I can and will pass out on the spot.”
Lea takes a moment to digest this, and then asks, “Are they still gonna let you pilot?”
“Yeah.”
“Really.”
“It’s not like fighting kaiju is comfortable,” Terra drawls, steady and firm. Lea puts his hands up in mock surrender.
“Didn’t mean to sound like I doubted you. Just that—ow, Xion!”
“What he means,” Xion says, voice pitched to override Lea’s grumbling at being harshly elbowed, “is that he’s super impressed. We appreciate your efforts.” Don’t push, Xion scolds. They’re not made of glass—they’re strong, but hurting.
Ven figures it out first.
After a drift test to see how capable they are at piloting without their third—and they’re plenty capable, just unstable and easily unbalanced, but that’s not something they test for or can test for when it’s just a jaeger humming to life in the relative safety of the Shatterdome—their ghosting is renewed in strength.
Because of that, neither of them bring up the faults in the test. The soft buzz of the connection between them is enough of a recompense. For now.
For now, the faint impression of Ven’s amusement agrees.
Terra snorts, similarly amused. It’s quick to fade as he reaches for the water bottle on his desk, though, as his trembling fingers knock against it instead of picking it up.
As it topples, about to roll off the table, Terra watches it—annoyance frustration pain—Ven cuts in—frustration reassurance love—reaches—let me help (we are one)—and—
Terra’s arm snaps out with Ven’s will and snatches the bottle before it hits the floor.
His hand is steady. And it remains steady, even as Terra lifts it and places it back on the table.
Terra lets go (Ven lets go) and his fingers begin to shake again.
“What did you just—“
“Nothing,” Ven breathes. Nothing we haven’t done before—slipping into each others’ eyes and bodies—I just wanted to help.
Terra hesitates, glancing over to the corners of their room. Technically, pilot dorm rooms are private and aren’t under surveillance. Technically, they’re safe to say things out loud here.
Technically, the rooms aren’t soundproof.
And the idea of telling the lab coats (the people who said it was Aqua’s fault, who said she’s dead, who said she is to be left abandoned now and to move on and to fight with the burden of that missing link) turns their stomachs.
“Oh wow how lucky that didn’t hit the ground,” Ven says in a rush of an exhale, slumping back onto his bunk bed. Let me try it again!
Terra rolls his eyes but does so anyway, unable to suppress the excitement. He reaches for the bottle again, and just as his tremors rack up, Ven’s presence presses close, and they—the tremors vanish. He grabs the bottle in a smooth motion.
Oh, shit, Ven’s thought burbles, and Terra turns to see—through Ven’s eyes—his hands shaking. In shock, there’s a snap in their connection, and Ven’s hand steadies.
Terra’s, on the other hand, are trembling again.
“Okay,” Terra says, okay, okay, so you just—took my tremors?
Can you take my narcolepsy then! Let’s try! Ven hauls himself off his bed, saying, “Aren’t you tired? Let’s take a nap.” If I can stay up longer than you, then we’ll know!
“Sure.” Why the hell not, Terra says, and flops onto his own bed. He crawls a little further onto it as Ven casually tosses himself on top of him, practically vibrating with all the joy faith love pouring through him.
Ven laughs, a little hysterical. “We didn’t get out of that unchanged either,” he says. “If my narcolepsy hasn’t forced Wayfinder into early retirement, nothing will.”
“Narcolepsy,” Aqua repeats. “How—“
“You guys make up for it when we fight, because we’re drifting,” Ven says. “Same goes for Terra’s tremors. And your migraines, I guess.”
Aqua purses her lips, thinking. Guilt trickles over from her mind to theirs, underlined with memories of being torn out of the cockpit and the drift swaying as it frays with distance. Terra says, “It’s not your fault,” to make it go away.
“If anything,” Ven starts, and immediately shuts up as Aqua and Terra turn disapproving looks and thoughts his way. He puts his hands up innocently. “I’m just saying.”
“Absolutely not,” Aqua says.
“No,” Terra agrees.
“Then it doesn’t make sense for any of us to blame ourselves, right? It was just the kaiju.”
“Migraine,” Aqua says, letting Terra rest his chin on her shoulder. She laces their fingers together when his shake too much to find hers properly.
Ven makes a sympathetic sound, sitting on her lap with his legs draped over Terra’s lap. His eyelids are already dropping, but Terra and Aqua (on some unspoken instinct from a memory she gained over drift) gently pull him awake, spreading the drowsiness thin over the three of them. As a result, the pressure to fall asleep alleviates, and Ven exhales a soft sigh. Thanks, he says.

It seems like Isa and Lea’s relationship will never be the same. They’ll never truly mend it bc we’re going to forced with Sea Salt Trio (Quadruplets I guess) moments instead. And that’s cute and all but Isa’s character got so badly shafted and treated like shit. And it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.
Saïx’s TRUE Purpose: The Power of Love
Tumblr media
Xion: “…It was my choice…to go away now. Better that, than to do nothing…and let Xemnas have his way. I belong with Sora. And now, I am going back…to be with him. Roxas…I need you…to do me a favor. All those hearts that I’ve captured… Kingdom Hearts… Set them free.”
Roxas: “Kingdom Hearts… Free them?”
Xion: “It’s too late…for me to undo my mistakes. But you can’t let Xemnas…have Kingdom Hearts. You can’t. Good-bye, Roxas. See you again. I’m glad…I got to meet you. Oh…and of course, Axel, too. You’re both my best friends. Never forget. That’s the truth.”
I couldn’t agree more. I refuse to sugar-coat it: Isa got treated like SHIT. The conclusion to his story was so poorly-written, that it’s insulting to the players’ intelligence. And I totally agree that Lea and Isa’s relationship could never be the same. How could it? It was never acknowledged that Isa was a victim of Xehanort. He deserved the same level of empathy that Terra got from his friends after getting possessed. He deserved to get rescued with the power of waking and restored to his former self. In KH3, he got none of this. Instead, Lea was mad at him for “letting” himself get reduced to being Xehanort’s vessel. I’m not even looking forward to seeing their relationship in the future games because I don’t feel that the real Isa even came back.
I also agree that they are most likely going to push the Sea-Salt Trio FAR more than the relationship between Lea and Isa. It seems like they are going to push the angle of Skuld being Isa’s love interest, and Isa will be much more involved with her going forward than Lea or anyone else. He did say he “sacrificed everything” for her. I have no interest in that whatsoever. I view it not as a genuine pairing, but more of a desperate attempt to deflect from the original idea that Square-Enix and Disney were too cowardly to allow Nomura to follow through with: the idea of romantic love between two males. That is a terrifying idea to many people. But that’s exactly why it was so important.
Day 276: Behind the Truth
Saïx would laugh at people with no hearts calling one another friends, but that doesn’t make it not so.
From a writing standpoint, I don’t think it was appropriate that Roxas and Xion became the focal point Isa’s redemption arc. Those relationships and character arcs are entirely separate. Lea and Isa’s relationship with each other should have been the focus of his redemption. KH3 sent the message that only Lea’s friendship with Roxas and Xion was worth anything. I have noticed that many fans don’t even think Roxas and Xion should forgive Isa, and they disliked how friendly they were with him in the ending. That demonstrates just how badly KH3 failed with Isa’s character arc, and properly differentiating him from his Xehanort-possessed self, Saïx.
Day 352: What I Must Do
I love Roxas and Axel. I’m sure Saïx would scoff at that. Call it a trick of my artificial memories. But the time I spent on that clock tower was real.
I thought that Roxas and Xion’s friendship with Axel was not only very sweet, but very meaningful. 358/2 Days is a well-written story. KH3 is…not a well-written story. Xion sacrificed herself so that Xemnas would not win. She was more concerned with Roxas and Axel’s well-being than her own. Xion’s name means, “forget-me-not”. She may disappear, but she’ll never forget her friends, nor will she be ever forgotten by them. That is the power of the heart. The power of love. Roxas, Xion and Axel’s friendship sent a very beautiful message. Lea’s relationship with Isa was supposed to accomplish the same thing: send a very beautiful message about the power of love. Unfortunately, this important message got totally thrown by the wayside.
Tumblr media
Larxene: “So, love has filled both their hearts with light.”
Naminé added data to Jiminy’s Journal in order to convey that the “pain” of those connected to Sora must be healed. Nomura said that Ansem’s research results would become the key to healing the “pain” of the characters in KH3. He said that data contained the details explaining the way to connect lost hearts. A press release for KH3 released in 2013 mentions something called the “Key to Return Hearts”. Here is what Nomura said about this key when asked about it in an interview:
There are two possible meanings of the “key.” One of which is the “hardware” key, which opens doors - this is what keys are in general, and the other is the “light” key, that opens something else. In this case, it is currently unknown as to which type of key Sora must find. This is the main storyline of Kingdom Hearts III - Sora must go on an adventure to find the “key” without knowing what or where it is.
The “key” being referred to was implied to be a key of light. The 7 Guardians of Light are important for more than their ability to wield a Keyblade. Their hearts have another power. The power of light. This light grants one the power to restore a lost heart. And the power of light…is love. That is the power of waking. Anna sacrificed herself for Elsa. That is the most powerful form of love that exists. Like the memories of Xion, it can never be lost or destroyed. It is the key to rebirth and new life.
Ansem the Wise: “Sora has a heart like that–uncorrupted, willing to see the good before the bad. When he sees the heart in something, it then becomes real. When a connection seems broken, he may have the power to mend it.”
Isa’s character deserved so much better. Instead of healing his pain, or doing anything with the concept of light or love, his redemption arc consisted of…procuring replicas, then quietly shuffling off into the background—even while Xemnas tried to kill his best friend right before his eyes. Again, it merely felt like deflection. Quick! Focus on Lea and Isa’s relationship with Skuld that never even existed until 5 seconds ago! How do we redeem Isa now? Just have him bring back Roxas and Xion! It doesn’t matter that Seekers of Darkness are not supposed to be capable of free will! Just do it!
Anything!! Anything to NOT focus on the love that exists between two male characters. Platonic love between friends and family is perfectly fine. Romantic love between a male and a female is perfectly fine. But romantic love between two males? That is NOT perfectly fine. I have no respect such artistic cowardice. I don’t know if this series is for me anymore, if the future is more oversimplified, big budget spectacles that are not allowed to take any risks with the story or characters.

“Kairi!” Axel shouted again as the girl struggled against Saïx’s hold. He readied his chakrams to hurl at Saïx when a powerful shock wave hit him.
“Traitors like you deserve to lose everything,” Saïx said.
Axel grunted and collapsed to his knees in pain from the direct hit. After only one strike, he felt his consciousness fading. His vision was going black. He couldn’t even tell whether he saw Saïx disappear with Kairi into the dark portal or whether that was only his own eyes closing.
Is this how I get turned into a Dusk…?
Saïx is not just completely cold to Axel emotionally. He tries to kill him when he turns on the Organization. This never happened in the original game, or even the Final Mix+ version. They decided to have Saïx try and kill Axel AFTER they came up with the idea of them being former best friends and (presumably) Isa partying with everyone in the ending.
“Don’t worry about that! Just go!” A Nobody glommed on to his arm, but Axel shook it off and hurled a chakram at it.
Right. Don’t worry about the why. I don’t even know the answer myself.
As he tried to catch his breath, more Nobodies set upon him. Pain surged like a fresh blow from the wound Saïx had dealt him.
Saïx was the one who gave Axel the fatal wound that would weaken him by the time he met Sora. Because Axel was already fatally wounded, he sacrificed the last bit of his life to atone for his actions.
Axel could remember fighting like this beside Roxas…
He wanted to fight that way again. He wished they had talked more, about lots of things. About nothing. He wanted to talk to his friend again.
But why do I feel this way if Nobodies have no hearts?
His time was running out, thanks to Saïx.
They made it abundantly clear that it was Saïx who was responsible for Axel’s demise.
“We don’t disappear… We’re only reborn,” Naminé murmured, perhaps to herself.
“I’m not like you and Roxas,” Axel said flatly. His hand holding the ice pop stick paused in midair.
“But—but you…” She looked down, clenching her fists.
“It’s because I don’t have a heart,” Axel went on. “I don’t want to disappear, but I’m not upset or sad about it.”
Axel truly did not believe he was going to have a “next life”. At the time of his death, he would have felt utterly alone and hopeless. Why would they have bothered making a character like Saïx his former best friend, unless they had something major to reveal about him later?
Tumblr media
Luxord: “Perhaps he was ready for it. Perhaps he put his existence on the line and won what he’d been longing for.”
Saix: “That’s absurd. He won nothing, and IS nothing. He couldn’t stand the emptiness of being without a heart. And THAT led to his demise. He was foolish and weak.”
This is what Saïx says right after the the Organization learns of Axel’s death. Saïx genuinely wanted Axel dead. He was a traitor. Yet he looks to the floor with a troubled look, when Luxord says that Axel got what he was longing for. Saïx is seemingly confused about where his conflicted feelings are coming from. It seemed to me that he genuinely had no clue why he was so angry and sad about Axel. It truly made no sense to him. The way he acted reminded me of when Sora cried while saying goodbye to Hayner, Pence, and Olette at the train station. Sora couldn’t understand why he was so sad, because they weren’t really his feelings that he was experiencing.
Saïx: “Do you know what happens to those who lose their true purpose? Inevitably, they destroy themselves.”
This is what Saïx says right after Axel deserts the Organization to find Roxas. In fact, every new scene with Saïx in KH2FM+ involved his relationship with Axel.
Saïx: “There’s something I’ve meant to ask.”
Xemnas: “About Axel? The poor fool. How long will he keep chasing the illusion of friendship, when he himself lacks emotion? Trying so hard to retrieve what he has lost, when it may never have existed in the first place. He deserves nothing more than our pity.”
After Axel meets Sora in Hollow Bastion, Saïx asks about him. He actually seems concerned, which is uncharacteristic of him. Then Xemnas makes his cryptic comment about Axel STILL chasing the illusion of friendship. He truly pities Axel, and thinks he’s a fool.
“Vile traitor!” The great Claymore took shape at Saïx’s back. Axel didn’t waste a second grabbing his chakrams. But his body was reluctant somehow.
I don’t want to disappear… But still, it wouldn’t be so bad if I did. Not here.
Saïx fatally wounded Axel. He later feels sadness and grief over this, but doesn’t know why. Likewise, Axel knows Saïx wants him dead and doesn’t care about him any more. He wastes no time grabbing his chakrams to defend himself. But his body is reluctant somehow, and he doesn’t seem to know why, either. Despite how hopeless their situation is, they are continually drawn towards each other. There’s still a heart connection there. Lea and Isa’s relationship was supposed to be a VERY big deal in the future of the story. It really was not that hard to see.
Saïx: “You’re the one who went off and made other friends. Left me in the dust. I lost…all sense of purpose.”
It’s SO obvious what Saïx’s “purpose” was. His purpose was Axel! He just didn’t realize it. Isa’s heart was able to subconsciously influence how Saïx felt at certain times, particularly after Axel left the Organization. Isa still cared about Lea, and after he was gone, his heart lost its purpose. Saïx had no clue about any of this, though. He would just become enraged at Axel due to the inexplicable pain he was feeling because of him. Saïx wasn’t being too stubborn to admit his feelings. He genuinely didn’t understand them.
Tumblr media
Xemnas: “Hearts full of rage, of hate…of sadness and bliss. Shining down upon us is the heart of all hearts—Kingdom Hearts. There in the sky hangs the promise of a new world. We will conquer hearts and make them our own. Hearts shall never again have power over us.”
Xemans hated how strong the heart was. He wanted to have full control over a person, and the heart was an obstacle to that. Yet he couldn’t turn someone into a vessel without a heart. It was why he conducted the mind control experiments in the first place. The Recusant’s Sigil is a symbol of his desire to conquer the heart and make it his own. When Xemnas is talking, the camera zooms in on the moon.
The moon hung in the sky outside the window, a great glowing heart. Sprawled in bed, Axel stared at it without really looking, idling the time away before he had to leave on a mission.
“We will conquer hearts and make them our own. Hearts shall never again have power over us.”
For the past few days, he had been mulling over what Xemnas could have meant by that speech. Hearts having power over them? What was that about? Whenever Axel was whiling away the hours by himself, that phrase kept bouncing around in his head. He didn’t know what was so compelling about it.
Axel had no idea what Xemnas was talking about underneath the moon that day, and it really bothered him. He was pondering this very issue when Saïx came in to interrogate him about Xion, much to his displeasure. Xemnas’ speech was very important.
No. VII SAÏX
Second in command who longs for the heart he does not have. Only the moon breaks his icy calm.
Saïx was always staring at the moon, longing for the heart he does not have. He has a Recusant’s Sigil scar on his face. It only makes sense that Isa was Subject X in the mind control experiments, and he was the sole subject whose heart didn’t collapse, turning him into a vessel. The survival of his heart would have been possible if he sacrificed himself out of love, just like his “Bunnymoon” weapon symbolized. The rocket to the moon was launched directly from a heart.
“Sora or Xion—it matters not. But we need one of them under our control. Bear that in mind.”
Saïx nodded, and a serene smile came to Xemnas’ face. If that smile meant anything it was beyond him.
Xemnas was completely confident that he won the battle over Isa’s heart.
“Don’t let us down now, kiddo. Shouldn’t be too much trouble without a heart,” Xigbar told Saïx.
Xigbar was totally confident about this as well.
In the Round Room, Saïx looked up at Xemnas high above.
“Are you sure we’re dealing with Xion and Roxas the right way?”
His tone was markedly different from usual, as if he spoke to an old friend rather than a superior.
Isa’s heart was captured and his body is now a vessel. Despite wanting to overthrow him, the novel describes Saïx’s demeanor with Xemnas as that of an old friend. Saïx’s heart is one with Xehanort’s, even if he doesn’t know it. On the other hand, Isa’s captured heart is full of rage, hate, and sadness. These feelings come out in his Berserk State under the light of the moon. But the last emotion that Xemnas mentioned was…bliss. And that seemed like foreshadowing.
Tumblr media
Axel gazed out at the sunset, as red as ever. That color still looked the same to him now as it had when he was human. Some things didn’t change even when you became a Nobody.
Axel was always gazing into the sun, even before he became a Nobody.
The sun sank lower and lower as Axel watched, his mind wandering.
If he stared for too long, the image would burn itself into his eyes, visible even after his eyes were closed.
A phantom sun.
Someone had once told him why sunsets were red… Who was that?
In the novel, he was doing just that right before he gives Roxas and Xion his “hokey speech”.
“I just…want these days to last forever,” Roxas murmured, slow and pensive. “Hanging out after the job’s done, eating ice cream, watching the sunset…”
Axel peered at his profile as he did just that. The sunset’s glow touched Roxas’s face and Xion’s with warm red.
“Well, nothing lasts forever,” Axel mumbled, looking off to the side again. “Least of all for a bunch of Nobodies.”
At that, both of their expressions fell.
Seriously, you two? You’re always grinning or getting bummed out…just like real live people with hearts. Axel exhaled and gathered some words. “But, you know, hanging out every day isn’t the only thing that matters. We’ll still have one another, even if that changes.”
“Really?” Roxas perked up.
“Yeah. As long as we remember one another, we’ll never be apart. Got it memorized?”
He was clearly thinking about Isa beforehand.
Axel’s face was limned with the sunset’s glow, his red hair shining crimson.
“Bet you don’t know why the sun sets red.” He eyed Roxas mischievously. “You see, light is made up of lots of colors. And out of all those colors, red is the one that travels the farthest.”
When Axel uses his famous line about why the sun sets red, it even zoomed in on the sun—just like it did with the moon earlier, when Xemnas was giving his speech about the ability to conquer the power of the heart. In 358/2 Days, the Moon Arcana of Luxord’s Tarot cards is “Dual Gear.” Axel’s weapon in that category is called “Dive Bomb”. The Sun Arcana of Luxord’s Tarot cards is “Hazard Gear.” Saïx’s weapon in that category is called “Light Year”.
Tumblr media
Roxas: “So he wasn’t fighting to protect the rose. He was protecting the people in the castle. Protecting her. She’s what matters most to him. But…Xaldin said it was the rose.”
Xaldin: “Feh. Cloying nonsense.”
Roxas: “Xaldin… When did you get here?”
Xaldin: “That’s none of your concern. Hmph. Love, from a beast? How utterly ridiculous.”
Just look at the way Xaldin speaks about the power of love. He couldn’t even tell that the Beast valued Belle more than the rose.
Roxas: “Love? What’s that?”
Xaldin: “It’s an emotion. The one deluding those two as we speak.”
Roxas: “Oh…”
Xaldin: “They think the power of love will save them? That’s the stuff of poetry, not practicality.”
Roxas: “Love is a power?”
Xaldin: “None you or I will ever grasp. Nor will they, for long. The love between them will wither and die. Love never lasts.”
He says it’s not a power that he or Roxas will ever grasp.
Xaldin:“Our work here is done. We have the Beast’s weakness.”
Roxas: “We do?”
Xaldin: “That which we treasure has power over us, Roxas. His heart is captive to it. And that makes it his weakness.”
Roxas: “Captive…? I don’t get it.”
Xaldin: “Nor should you. You have no heart to love with. Let’s not linger here.”
In KH2, Xaldin tried to use the Beast’s love for Belle as a weapon, to turn him into a Heartless and Nobody. He wants absolutely nothing to do with love. To him, it’s nothing but weakness that make the heart a captive. I’m sure that’s exactly how Xemnas and Xigbar viewed the feelings “X” had for Lea. Like Xaldin, they would have used Isa’s love as a weapon, to turn him into a captive.
Tumblr media
“Do you know what love is?”
“…’Scuse me?”
“It’s something powerful, right? Where does it come from?” Roxas was completely in earnest.
Love… Huh.
“It is powerful, but it’s not a power we get to have.” Axel had very little confidence in his ability to explain it. But whenever Roxas or Xion had questions about the mysteries of the human heart, he did his best to answer.
Compare the way Axel speaks about love to the way Xaldin spoke of it. Axel really wants to experience love, but he thinks he never will. And this deeply saddens him.
“Nobodies can’t love?” Roxas asked.
“Nope. You need a heart for that.”
“Oh… Right.” Roxas fell quiet, pensive.
Axel kept talking. “Love is what happens when there’s something really special between people.”
“More special than friends? Like…if they’re best friends? Inseparable?”
“Well, you can care about your friends, but that’s not exactly it…” Axel paused, groping for words that might make sense to Roxas.
“So it’s a step above best friends?”
“No—it’s not about steps.”
Roxas looked bewildered. As he’d expected, he wasn’t doing a very good job explaining it.
Axel thinks he cannot experience love until Kingdom Hearts is completed. Of course, this is just the lie that Xemnas told them. He used Axel’s desire for love as a weapon, to gain his cooperation and turn him into a vessel. Axel already has the ability to love.
“Not that it matters. We’ll never know the difference.”
Roxas wouldn’t let it go. “Do you think we would, if we had hearts?”
“Once Kingdom Hearts is complete, I bet you’ll be able to figure it out.” The magic words again, Axel thought. It’ll all make sense when Kingdom Hearts is complete. But was that true? No one had ever seen it happen before. So who knew? Still, all they could do was believe in it.
Pitiful Heartless, mindlessly collecting hearts…
“Kingdom Hearts, huh…?” Roxas said under his breath, gazing out at the sunset.
Axel watched his wistful profile and sighed silently.
Like Xaldin, Axel tells Roxas that neither of them can grasp the power of love. But they do so for entirely different reasons. Xemans and Xaldin are trying to complete Kingdom Hearts to conquer the power of love. Roxas and Axel are trying to complete Kingdom Hearts to experience the power of love.
Tumblr media
Xemnas: “Ah, ever the rogue pawn. Knocked from the board early in the game. Utterly useless and forgotten. Now it ends. I will purge that light in you…with darkness!”
During the final battle, Xemnas feels like he’s won yet again. He thinks that Lea is a loser who has been forgotten about. He is confident that Isa’s heart has been conquered. He is so confident that he attacks Lea right in front of Saïx, knowing that he won’t do anything.
His words of being superior are reminiscent of the speech he gave while he was standing under the heart-shaped moon. Yet unlike before, Lea is defiant this time. He says that Xemans was never his superior. I have no doubt that Axel’s Mystery Gear weapon with the Recusant’s Sigil, was a reference to his final battle with Xemnas.
Aqua: “It’s the power of true love that defeated you.”
Maleficent: “I will not be defeated by something as insignificant as love.”
Aqua: “You don’t even know the first thing about it. You’re too clouded bydarkness to see that there’s something greater.”
The message of Kingdom Hearts is that Aqua was right.
Terra: “No more borders around, or below, or above, so long as you champion the ones you love.”
The message of Kingdom Hearts is that Terra was right.
Yen Sid: “Just as long as you love him…then Ventus will be able to find you when he wakes. He can follow that love back to where he belongs–the realm of light.”
Love is so powerful, it can even lead Ventus back to the Realm of Light. That’s what the whole concept of the power of waking is.
Tumblr media
Day 150: Too Precious to Lose
Axel and I talked for a while about the things we can’t bear to lose. Axel thinks that for Nobodies, it’s our pasts, because that’s all we have to remember the pain of losing something.
Lea’s Keyblade is called the “Flame Liberator”. The Phoenix rising from the ashes represents the alchemical process of transformation, rebirth, and liberation. It’s the red stage of Rubedo, where a person finally realizes their true nature, and they are liberated from ignorance and suffering. But Xemnas destroys Lea’s Keyblade, leaving him totally powerless. Xemnas is about to finish him off, right in front of Saïx.
Sora: “But if I put aside the hurt, I’ll lose my only ties to people that I cared about. No. My mind’s made up. I want to carry this hurt with me. I can be free of it the day I remember, but until then, it’s what holds together the pieces I left behind…and I accept it.”
Lea’s Keyblade may be broken, but he doesn’t need it. There’s another Key to Return Hearts. The “light” key Nomura mentioned. The power of love. No matter how much pain it caused, neither Lea nor Isa’s hearts could forget about each other. This should have been the moment where Isa’s heart showed its true power. Love is NOT a weakness. Love is what prevented Isa’s heart from being destroyed in the first place, unlike every other test subject. And love makes his heart so powerful, it refuses to submit to Xemnas’ will. This is exactly what the true meaning of a recusant is.
In canon, the relationship between Saïx and Axel felt totally pointless. Being told at the last minute that Lea and Isa became apprentices to look for Skuld is nothing but sequel bait. There was no underlying message to that revelation. It had no thematic value whatsoever pertaining to the Xehanort Saga. There was no ultimate meaning to Isa becoming Xehanort’s vessel and then reviving his friendship with Lea again. Lea and Isa’s relationship had no narrative purpose. But…it was supposed to.
No. I XEMNAS
Organization XIII’s leader. Through power over nothing, he seeks power over everything.
The true purpose of Lea and Isa’s relationship was to prove all the villains wrong. No matter how much he would like to, Xehanort cannot conquer the power of the heart, which is love. Like his description says, he has power over NOTHING.

By request, this is my bullet point summary of the kingdom hearts series. This hits all of the most major plot points and should prepare the uninitiated to at least understand the things being talked about on their dash
Some things to know:
I'm making this on mobile so I can't cut for length
I do not go into detail on everything, this is, again, to hit those major plot points and get you caught up on the gist
It is 49 points long
1) once there was an age of fairy tales where tons of people collected light to fight darkness. They eventually began to battle each other, had a war, destroyed the world.
2) the world came back
3) way later there was a fuckboy named xehanort who found out about the keyblade war and a power (kingdom hearts) that could theoretically make him god and he wanted it
4) so he became a keyblade master and eventually decided he was too old and would die before he reached his goal and decided to make a new vessel
5) the kid he picked for it (ventus) wasn't strong enough so he decided to experiment on him to try and make a superweapon. When he thought he failed, he ditched half of it on his ex-friend (eraqus) and met his two kids (terra and aqua) and decided his ex-friend's son-kid (terra) would be a good vessel
6) years later he tries to obtain that power. He fails but does obtain that son-kid's (terra)'s body. his weapon-kid (ventus) is in a coma and the sister (aqua) is in darkness and he lost his memory
7) luckily he's taken in by someone on his side (braig/xigbar). They start experiments, create the heartless, and he regains his memory in time to split himself into two: a heartless to command the darkness (ansem sod) and a nobody (xemnas) to prepare the rest of his plans
8) ten years later Sora Kairi and Riku are building a raft to leave their world when it's destroyed. They are split up. Sora gets the keyblade
9) Sora meets Donald and Goofy and goes on many adventures trying to find his friends
10) Sora finds his friends but Riku is giving into darkness and possessed by ansem and Kairi's in a coma bc her heart is in Sora. Sora frees her, becomes a heartless, she saves him, he fights ansem-who-is-xehanorts-heartless, and Riku and King Mickey help him seal that major baddie away
11) the islands come back, Kairi goes home, Sora goes looking for Riku and Mickey with Donald and Goofy
This is KHUX/KHChi, Birth By Sleep, and KH1
12) when Sora freed Kairi, he created a nobody because he became a heartless. His nobody Roxas is made part of Organization 13, which is lead by Xehanort's nobody, and seeks to destroy heartless to collect the hearts to make the superpower Xehanort wants.
13) Roxas has a friend named Xion who realizes she is a weapon created to steal Sora's power and memories to prevent him from waking up. Xion grapples with her own morality and mortality and decides that fucking over Xemnas and saving the world is more important than just burying her head in the sand in hopes of having good times with her friends and sacrifices herself.
14) in between 12&13 is Chain of Memories, where in which Sora first encounters org 13 as a bunch of weirdos in a castle who give him a riddle and imply Riku is there. They are under Marluxia's command and want to make Sora their puppet weapon with the help of Namine.
15) Namine is Kairi's Nobody who was created when Sora unleashed Kairi's heart. she has power over memories, but only Sora's, probably because she was created from his body and Kairi's heart. Marluxia and the org are threatening her to change Sora's memory. She replaces his memories of Kairi with memories of her to convince him to go further into they trap.
16) Namine feels bad about this bc she is a good person in an abusive situation. She eventually rebels and helps Sora because of this
17) Axel, a nobody who is also there, has turned on Marluxia and co bc he is actually there to kill the traitors, because Marluxia wants to use Sora to rule the Organization. He lets Namine escape to fulfill that goal
18) one of the reasons namine feels so bad is because of Repliku, a replica of Riku who is like Xion except he thinks that he's the real Riku and doesn't have any bonds outside of the fake memories. Namine has to break his heart to stop him from killing Sora.
19) Sora beats Marluxia and Namine puts him, Donald, and Goofy to sleep so she can fix his memory. Because of how she messed up his memory, this will make him forget her and everything that happened. Sora promises to see Namine again and be friends with her for real.
20) it turns out Riku really was here the whole time. He fights Nobodies too, including Lexaeus and Zexion. He beats Zexion and the power of Ansem, from his possession, kills Lexaeus. He tries to control his own darkness and finds Sora, and promises to protect him while he sleeps.
21) Axel uses Repliku to kill Zexion and gets on back to the org. He's BFFs with Xion and Roxas and realizes he was kind of a dick by being friends with them.
22) he friend breaks up with Saix, bc they've changed and he doesn't recognize Isa in Saix. Axel killed Vexen and Zexion bc he and Saix were scheming together to take down Xemnas and get their hearts back.
23) SAIX IS NOT JEALOUS OF ROXAS, THAT IS A FANDOM MISINTERPRETATION. he has a line about fake friends or real friends and this is not Saix vs Roxas, but him trying to tell Axel that Xion is a Replica and not a reason person. Note: Xion is a real person, Saix is misinformed and being a dick
24) Roxas leaves after Xion dies and gets captured by Riku who dumps him in a data world made by DiZ so he can start integrating back with Sora
25) DiZ is the origibal ansem who was yeeted into darkness by Xehanort when he stole his name, and bc of that he hates Nobodies and wants to destroy the organization
26) axel finds roxas but Roxas ultimately does go back to Sora (looks like my summer vacation is over) exactly one year after he was created. Sora wakes up with Donald and Goofy
27) Sora learns about the Nobodies and that the worlds are in danger again and goes to help the worlds and look for Riku and King Mickey. He kills Xaldin and Demyx while in Disney Worlds.
28) Axel kidnaps Kairi as part of an effort to try and get Roxas back from Sora but loses her to Saix
29) Sora learns Kairi is kidnapped and is big mad
30) axel realizes he was a dick, tries to rescue Kairi, is mostly-murdered by Saix in the effort, and dies to protect Sora.
31) Sora kills Saix and Luxord and Xigbar, is reunited with Kairi and Riku
32) DiZ yeets himself back into the land of darkness destroying the fake kingdom hearts created from all the gathered hearts, roxas and Namine return to Sora and Kairi for good, and then Sora and Riku kill Ansem and go home
This is Chain of Memories - 358/2 Days - KH2
33) Sora and Kairi and Riku enjoy a brief break while Donald Mickey and Goofy recap things. They realize Jiminy's journal was erased when Sora had his memory wiped by Namine and discover a strange message: their hurting will be mended you return to end it
34) they create a data Sora and go through all the worlds from kh1 and then com to try and get to the bottom of the journal, which has corrupted data. this game is brushed off as filler but is critical bc it establishes that fake beings like say, data copies, can in fact develop hearts and therefore Xion is real and has a heart fuck off gamer Bros
35) also Pete and Maleficent are there bc the games continually remind us they exist
36) it turns out the message was written by Namine, who made a data Namine to let Sora know about all the memories of other people connected to him. Mickey and Data Sora learn that Roxas, Xion, Axel, Terra (Xehanort's first vessel), Aqua (bbs girl and true keyblade master), Ventus (1/2 of that failed superweapon) and Namine all need to be helped and have the pain in their heart mended.
37) Ventus is in Sora's heart because when he almost died, Sora as a newborn baby connected his heart with Ventus. current theory I have is that Sora was born exactly as Ventus was dying and this weird connection allowed this to happen.
38) Mickey writes to Sora and Riku that they should take the Mark of Mastery exam to become true keyblade Masters and gain new power
39) Sora is confident about his coolness bc he saved the universe twice but Riku feels bad about giving into darkness and so they both take the test
40) the test is hijacked by Xehanort who reveals he's back and also that he's used time travel to bring back every version of himself. They want to use Sora to make a 13th version and start a new keyblade war to get Kingdom Hearts
42) they revealed that nobodies can regrow hearts and xemnas made up that no emotions forever shit because he wanted to rule his cult and make them all into vessels as a plan b
43) Riku stops them by saving Sora, with the help of King Mickey, and Lea, Axel's complete form
44) it turns out that when a Nobody and their Heartless die they become whole again. Lea wants a keyblade to rescue his friends including Isa, Saix's somebody who is norted
45) Xehanort says they will fight soon, when his 13 darknesses (aka possessed bodies) fight the 7 lights, and this clash will create the superweapon the X-blade which will let him open kingdom hearts, recreate the universe, and become god
46) Riku passes the exam and becomes a master. Sora fails but isn't too broken up about it. Yen Sid sends Riku to get Kairi and begins to train her and Lea as Keybearers to be Lights
47) Sora takes off to Olympus with Donald and Goofy to train with Hercules and recover the strength he lost when he was nearly possessed by Xehanort
48) meanwhile while all of this happened, back in point 10, we have a short game about Aqua who has been trapped for 10 years. It's depression the game and intersects with the plot bc she helps Mickey find the thing he needs to seal the darkness. She's separated from him and Riku which is why she can't get out to the darkness when they do in CoM
49) we are caught up to kh3
This is Really:Coded, Dream Drop Distance, and 0.2 Birth by Sleep
Misc. Details:
Kairi, Xion, and Namine look alike because Namine is Kairi's Nobody and Xion is based on Sora's memories of Kairi. Their main difference is hair color and style: Kairi has red hair, Namine has long blond hair, Xion has short black hair
Ventus and Roxas look identical. This is basically because baby Sora allowed Ventus to take shelter in his heart, so Roxas ended up looking like Ventus despite being connected to Sora
Vanitas looks like Sora but with black hair and gold eyes because Vanitas is the other half of Ventus, and thus connected to Sora's heart
There is a young version of Xehanort because of time travel. Don't stress about the time travel, just accept it
Pretty much all the main characters who aren't from a Disney property, a villain, or Axel/Lea (redhead, green eyes, fire powers), Aqua (blue hair, blue eyes, keybearer), or Terra (brown hair, blue eyes, keybearer) are underage.

important. bc kairi holds a lot in and doesn't want anyone to know that she's anything but happy. she's still human too and has her up's and down's just like anyone else and i just. she'd never tell the boys bc she doesn't want them to feel like it's their fault bc she doesn't blame them.
but i need them to argue. i need them to be friends and argue and talk things out bc no matter how close you are, there are always problems and to get closer & stronger is to work through them and i need that for them. kairi needs it. bc like -- what brought this on is that, and there's nothing wrong with it bc i love sora & riku so damn much ok and so does kairi, but i see so much of sora and riku, riku and sora on my dash and kairi's just oh. about a lot of things. she's sad, ya'll. i guess that's what happens when your friends go and grow up without you.
ugh there was so much more but i can't remember rip

Healing Vision Headcanons: Olette/Xion/Namine/Sora/Riku Edition
will be putting this behind a cut for the length. will contain a bit of kh3 spoilers behind the cut. refer to this post for background knowledge about this verse.
as indicated by the title, this post will all be about that ship, and the subset ships of olette/namine, xion/namine, xion/olette, sora/riku, and sora/namine.
- namette, namishi, xiolette, soriku, and sonami will all be romantic ships
- olette/sora, olette/riku, xion/sora, rikushi, and namiku will all be more on the queerplatonic end of the spectrum
- sora is pan; riku is gay; olette is a lesbian; xion is a lesbian demisexual; namine is a demiromantic ace
- xion is intersex, but i’m still deciding between her either being a trans girl or nonbinary; i’m similarly undecided about namine, tho for her i’m deciding between bigender or nonbinary
- originally in the HV, soriku and namixiolette were going remain separate. but then i played kh3, and my sonami feels were really reawakened with a vengeance; when i went to look up fanfic for the ship, i was distressed to see that the majority of them were all alternative CoM angst endings---there was pretty much no fluff, none where sora and namine just got to be happy together. so---i’m being the change that i want to see in the world :3
- many years ago now (o.o ...god saying that makes me feel old), i wrote an olette/namine fanfic, which essentially details how i think they could have met in the canon verse, and even now it’s still essentially my headcanon. this is a bit of a spoiler for the end of that fic, but namine ends up having to wipe herself from olette’s memory. in the HV, when olette sees namine again for the first time after kh3, all her memories come back, and she remembers her again
- xion and namine bond over their similar experiences of being forgotten by the ppl they cared about
- part of the reason that xion and namine are drawn to olette is bc, compared to most of the ppl they’ve known, she’s so simple and uncomplicated; she’s warm, genuine, honest, easygoing, affectionate, and compassionate, and so she’s like a breath of fresh air to them
- sora’s feelings for riku have been present for a long time, though before the events of the series, he was a bit oblivious to the true, romantic nature of those feelings, mostly bc he just didn’t really dwell on it that much. all he knew was that riku was his favorite person to be around, and he was content w/ that
- but as they grew older, and especially as riku hit puberty, riku’s relationships with both sora and kairi started to take a downward swing. riku started getting very jealous of sora and kairi’s relationship, bc he was realizing that he was in love with sora, and wanted all of sora’s attention to himself, especially romantically. but riku was also experiencing an incredible amount of internalized homophobia, and he started lashing out at sora, which drove sora into spending more time with kairi
- riku’s parents were extremely homophobic, and so riku grew up knowing from a pretty young age that he was in love w/ sora, and also that those feelings were Wrong, but no matter how much he tried to ignore them, they never went away. and as he grew up, riku knew perfectly well that his parents would kick him out, at best, if they found out he was gay, and so he grew up with a crippling fear of abandonment, and he especially became terrified of losing sora too (riku attempting to share a paopu fruit w/ sora was partially motivated as a way to ensure that sora would never abandon him)
- ftr, when sora and riku are finally together and are going to go home after kh3, they discuss how they want to handle their relationship, and when riku finally reveals his parents’ emotional abuse, sora refuses to let riku go back to living w/ them. so first they come out to sora’s mom, who’s supportive and agrees to let riku live w/ them from now on, and then after they pack up riku’s belongings, they come out to riku’s parents and the community on their own terms (bc after everything they’ve been through, they refuse to be ashamed about this, and they know that word would travel fast anyway); riku’s parents react as expected, but at this point, riku’s done giving a shit about them, and so he moves in w/ sora
- (this is the beginning of hikari becoming the pioneer of what i call the gaywakening of destiny islands; she’s on a one-woman crusade to bring about queer education, rights, and pride, and it is 50% her being determined to be the most supportive parent in all the known universe, and 50% her being passive-aggressive as fuck towards riku’s parents. but the details of her crusade will be for another post XP)
- by the beginning of kh1, sora was starting to feel more flashes of attraction to riku. when riku first attempted to share a paopu fruit w/ him, sora kind of panicked, and thought that riku was just teasing him, and so sora tossed it away (riku of course took this as a total rejection)
- the next day, when riku brought up the idea of sharing a paopu fruit w/ kairi, was when sora’s confusion over his feelings really started. bc of general compulsory heterosexuality, and bc destiny islands was a more conservative community and thus had a lot of casual homophobia, sora never much questioned the assumption that boys and girls could only date each other (not that he had really given dating much thought before then, either). and w/ the assumption that strong relationships between boys and girls always ended up as romances, sora started wondering if his feelings towards kairi were romantic, and whether he did want to share a paopu fruit w/ her. complicating this was the fact that he really didn’t like the idea of riku sharing a paopu fruit w/ her, though he didn’t quite understand why, combined w/ the fact that he hated feeling like he was only ever second best to riku
- all of riku’s anguish came to a boiling and breaking point in kh1, as riku perceived all of sora’s actions as him choosing to abandon riku, just like he’d always feared. at this point, riku felt that he needed to be needed and necessary, and his whole identity was built on the idea that his friends needed him to be their strong protector, and he couldn’t really cope w/ the idea of sora not needing him after all; he latched onto saving kairi bc she really did need help
- as the series went on, sora became more fixated on the idea of kairi; she came to sort of represent the home that he missed so much. and w/ everyone else just assuming that it was So Obvious that sora was in love w/ kairi, he went along w/ that assumption too. upon his reunions w/ kairi and riku in twtnw at the end of kh2, and the wildly different emotions they each had inspired in him, sora began to realize the truth of his feelings, but he was still mostly in denial. when they were all home for a brief bit before the mark of mastery exams, sora was being confronted w/ the fact that his ideal of both kairi and Being Home weren’t matching up w/ the reality and things were awkward between them, but sora tried to tell himself that it was just bc they still needed more time
- all of this was even further compounded by the fact that sora fell in love w/ namine during re:com, and tho he couldn’t recall the memories of her, his feelings for her were still there, along with the aching sense that he had forgotten something important. seeing namine again at the end of kh2 really sparked and stirred up his feelings again, but sora had no context to understand them (how could he be in love w/ someone that he didn’t even know?). he kind of tried to convince himself that these feelings were for kairi, but he knew that they weren’t really
- obvs, after kh3, sora remembers (and thanks) namine; the circumstances of this aren’t fully fleshed out. partially it’s bc it’s tied in with my indecision about in what way i should alter the canon scenes of kairi being fridged. on one hand, bc i feel that the whole affair of kairi dying was entirely superfluous, i could tweak it so that she never dies. on the other hand, i could go with kairi ‘dying’ in the battle, but in a more heroic self-sacrificial way (maybe she took a hit meant for sora or someone else), and then there being an actual story arc where sora and riku go and save her. it would essentially involve them collecting the pieces of her and putting her back together (like sora did for himself in the final world), but with more...effort involved. and in said story arc, there could be an event that triggers sora into remembering namine, or something to that effect.
- again, undecided if i want to change the canon paopu fruit scene into being a sorikai friendship moment instead, or if i’ll keep the canon version, but with the reading that it happened bc sora and kairi were both still suffering from compulsory heterosexuality, and still trying to force themselves into believing that they liked each other romantically; if i go with the saving kairi story arc, it would be the latter option
- continuing on with ‘saving kairi’ story arc, in this version, when sora and riku go off to save her together (on a meta-textual level, it’d be a way for their story to come full circle: they’re back where they started, but they’re going to do it right this time; instead of having petty fights with each other over who gets to save kairi, they’ll save her together), sora still would have been in denial about the true nature of his feelings for riku. but travelling together with him, and actually spending time with riku after being apart for so long, sora will start to understand his feelings better
- riku of course already knows that he’s deeply in love with sora and is pining, but he’s trying to keep his distance, bc sora and kairi are ‘together’ now (and mostly riku is just resolved that he won’t let his jealousy get the better of him this time, and he’s determined to be the best and most supportive friend that he can be)
- romantic moments and almost kisses keep happening anyway, but riku tries to tell himself that he’s imagining things and reading too much into it, while sora struggles with acceptance of his true feelings
- even still, sora and riku won’t actually get together until after sora and kairi have some sort of conversation where they finally talk through everything and can admit that they only love each other as friends, and they finally put to rest their attempts to force romantic feelings for each other
- after coming to an understanding with kairi, sora will then seek out to riku finally talk things out with him and to confess his true feelings (and there’ll be a lot of happy tears, probably)
- even tho sora might be a bit hesitant to potentially rock the boat this early in his new relationship w/ riku, in the interests of honesty and full disclosure, and having by this point remembered namine and had all those feelings come rushing back to the forefront, sora will quietly confess to riku that he thinks he might be in love with namine too
- to sora’s surprise, riku’s quiet for a moment, but then tells him that he’s honestly not really surprised, as he’s always thought that a lot more went down between sora and namine in castle oblivion than namine tried to let on; at this point, riku reminds sora that he spent the majority of a year w/ namine while she was trying to fix his memories, and he remembered her heartbreak and anguish as she essentially worked to erase herself from sora’s memories, tho she tried to conceal her pain
- riku remembers this as being one of the big turning points for him as a person, bc instead of being jealous about namine being in love w/ sora too, he just empathized w/ her instead, and thought that they were/would be suffering the same pain of being in unrequited love w/ sora, as he thought they’d both have to watch sora be in love w/ kairi
- while sora and riku are off saving kairi, and incidentally saving namine as well, during that time, xion and olette are meeting and getting to know each other as friends
- xion and olette may have already started going on a few dates by the time sora and riku get back w/ kairi, and namine is given her own body again; sora and riku get together not long after they get back
- at first, namine is more focused on forming friendships; during this time, the person she becomes closest to is xion, bc again, they can both empathize w/ each other a lot
- during this time, sora and namine are trying to keep their promise of being friends for real this time, but it’s not quite working out bc they’re both kinda pining for each other
- all the while, namine is coming to terms w/ her asexuality, and she’s also starting to fall for xion especially, but also olette; namine tends to experience a lot of insecurity and anxiety, and she becomes terrified of possibly ruining her friendship w/ xion, and so ends up confiding in her all of her angst. xion assures her that she’s not ruining anything, and that she’s interested in namine as well, but admits that she doesn’t really know what she’s doing either, and suggests that they consult w/ olette, who’s pretty much the relationship expert
- olette is the one who helps namine understand her asexuality, and suggests the polyamory option; xion and olette have an allosexual relationship, while their relationship w/ namine is purely ace
- meanwhile, riku can’t stand seeing sora be unhappy, and so he goes to consult w/ olette, and together they arrange for all five of them to sit down and hash everything out, w/ the end result being that sora and namine will also be dating; their relationship is also purely ace, and sora’s w/ riku is allosexual
- after kh3, axel and saix effectively adopt roxas and xion, and they’re all living in twilight town now
- sora and riku are of course living w/ sora’s mom on destiny islands, and namine was adopted by kairi’s dad, and so now she’s living w/ kairi (at first namine was afraid of kairi being mad at her for dating sora, but kairi’s perfectly fine w/ it)
- if the ‘saving kairi’ story arc didn’t happen, then during the amount of time that it would have taken for sora and riku to save her, that time was instead sora and kairi attempting to date each other; when they realized that the relationship wasn’t working for them and neither of them were happy, they finally gave up on being in denial and called it quits. during that time, riku and namine were pining for sora, while in this version, namixiolette fell for each other at around the same time and pace (instead of it being xiolette first, and then namine coming into the relationship later)
- after sokai stopped dating, the ot5 getting together went down pretty much in the same way as in the ‘saving kairi’ story arc
- is it perhaps excessive that namine has two girlfriends, a boyfriend, and a queerplatonic partner? imo, she’s been alone and isolated for far too long, so i’m giving her all the love that she deserves (and she’ll also have ALL the friends; a few of the ones she’s closest to being kairi and terra)
- every one of the ot5 ships will just be full of softness and gentleness
- sora and olette.....are just gonna be such BROS to each other (in general, olette is just cultivating her butch lesbian #aesthetic these days). she’ll be like this w/ roxas too, but they’ll just constantly be playing video games and skateboarding; xion’ll be getting in on this too
- okay, so xion and riku’s relationship. during Days, when xion was absorbing sora and his memories, she did experience and kinda channel sora’s feelings for riku (and for his part, riku felt something of an echo of sora from her). so while she doesn’t experience those feelings for herself anymore, she still remembers the echo of it, and so things are a bit awkward between them at first (also riku still feels guilty about essentially coercing xion and roxas into dying). eventually they do find common ground and settle into a comfortable friendship (also, xion experienced the same thing in regards to kairi)
- for sora, he had a similar problem w/ xion, in that he experienced a lot of roxas’s feelings towards her (tho that was mostly the pain of losing her), so he still remembers the echoes of those emotions. but again, he ends up really becoming bros w/ her and olette
- olette and riku probably took the longest to really bond, tho they eventually did bc they discovered they liked doing little crafts together
- being both introverts, riku and namine find a lot of solace in each other when they just need some quiet time; olette and sora are both extroverts, w/ xion being somewhere in the middle
- olette does have some playful flirting going on w/ kairi, but it’s never anything serious. xion and kairi like sparring w/ their keyblades together
- if the five of them ever moved in together, it’d probably be in either twilight town or destiny islands. there’d be at least 3 bedrooms (one for if someone needed some alone time, one for cuddles, and one for activities that would not involve namine)
- the more likely option is that soriku and xiolette would each have their own houses/apartments (in destiny islands and twilight town, respectively), and namine would bounce back and forth between them. both places would have at least 2 bedrooms each
- soriku’s place is probably more of a cottage that’s closer to the seaside than the center of the mainland, while xiolette’s place is an apartment. namine has rooms set aside for her in both places, and her belongings are scattered between them. big things like her easels for paintings and canvases and things like that are at soriku’s cottage, which has more space than xiolette’s apartment, etc.
- sora, riku, and xion are all officially keyblade wielders/masters, so that’s pretty much their occupations. olette is probably going to be attending university soon, and namine will probably go to art school (probably just for the experience more than anything else)
- tbh, idk what olette would be studying at university. maybe business management and/or marketing, bc she found she really liked working at scrooge’s bistro and wants to take over it someday? maybe she wants to open her own small business. maybe it’s a sports scholarship. fashion or graphic design? idkkk
okay, i think that’ll be enough for this post. if i have more headcanons about this ship, i’ll be making another post for them, bc this one is already probably far too long XDD

fatedeniedhope replied to your post “* sees people confused over various kh plot points * * is not people i...”
I would like yo know a bit. Only play kh 1 and chain of memories and half way to kh 2
oh boy there is a *lot* to cover here then!
I don’t mean that to sound intimidating, kh just has a tendency for long, sprawling interconnected plots (many of which are still unresolved even now)
i am also doing this entirely by memory, so if i’ve skimmed something i shouldn’t have its because my brain has stopped registering it as important; feel free to ask for clarification, i wrote this in one sitting because i was avoiding doing laundry XD
putting a cut because i am overviewing a Lot of game here and tbh there’s still a lot of stuff i am skimming or skipping entirely. I’m just trying to hit the highlights.
i don’t know where you stopped in 2, so i’m just gonna give a brief overview
-there is a boy named roxas
-he’s being hunted by these strangers called nobody’s
-things get weird
-turns out he’s sora’s nobody, as nobody’s are created when a person is turned into a heartless (which sora did during kh1)
-roxas returns to sora (”looks like my summer vacation is.. over...” whoops there goes my heart) and normal sora gameplay resumes.
-DIDNEY WORLDS
-turns out everyone forgot sora for a year bc of what happened in chain of memories (and also 358/2. dont worry about that yet we’ll get there). kairi sends out a bottle to “the boy she can’t remember” trying to call him home. (yes this is important)
-organization 13 (all what? eight of them left?) pops up, xemnas is cryptic, and they say their goal is to recreate kingdom hearts via sora killing heartless, since apparently only killing heartless with a keyblade sends the trapped hearts to Kingdom Hearts
-this version of the tale persists through 358 as well. it’s.. half right.
-bla bla bla, shenanigans. there’s ansem (the boss from kh1) and a guy named diz. That isn’t who either of them actually are. It’s actually Riku (who tapped too far into the darkness trying to capture roxas for the whole twilight town scenario at the beginning of the game, thus altering his appearance to look like the guy who posessed him for a bit) and THE ACTUAL ANSEM (ie, the ruler(?) of radient garden before it fell, and the guy heartless ansem stole his name from.
-anyways
-sora goes off searching for riku, bc as far as he knows, he’s still lost out in the darkness.
-he’s not, he’s fine, but he’s super embarrassed about the whole ‘looking like the enemy’ thing and won’t let sora find him.
-sora casually murders most of the remaining organization members (only most of whom shot first)
-this continues on until axel attempts to kidnap kairi, who ends up in twilight town for a bit hanging out with the hayner/pence/ollete trio, before being slightly more successfully kidnapped a second time.
-and then she gets kidnapped again by saix. Axel apologises to sora over this. in his defence, he’s pretty desperate at this point (he just wants his friend(s) back)
-sora storms The World That Never Was, kairi is rescued by Namine.
-the trio finally meets up (namine disapeared at some point? yknow, i actually dont recall what happened to her in between these scenes), sora and kairi share a slightly awkward but sweet hug, and after a moments trepidation over ‘Ansem’, kairi tells/shows him its riku, at which point sora bursts into tears.
-i ship a lot of ot3′s, but sorikai is the OG ot3
-anyways
-namine and roxas have a very symbolic moment refusing with their Other’s, Namine opens a portal back to destiny islands so they can go home.
-everyone except sora and riku make it through, and thus commences several final fantasy style boss fights
-they win, of course, riku’s injured in the line of battle, and they limp out, having traversed several realms during the course of this battle, they’re now trapped on a beach in the realm of darkness. it’s the same beach everyone else seems to end up on in this place. There is only one beach in the RoD apparently
-they stay there a while, and then they pick up a message in a bottle; it’s from kairi, “to the boy she can’t remember”
-Feelings make a door to the light open, and sora and riku fall like actual comets from the sky and everybody’s reunited and happy. huzzah!
-.... well for a while anyways.
-should i get into the whole xemnas/xehanort/ansem thing here?
-eh
-okay so
-lets swing back into Birth By Sleep for a bit
-(im sorry if kh can’t hit any of its plot points in order i think its fair neither do i)
-BBS takes place roughly nine years prior to kh1, with the exception of bbs’s prologue, which i would estimate as being an additional four years prior to that
-during said prologue, we meet Master Xehanort, an incredibly old dude with brown skin, gold eyes, and a white beard. even newcomers to the series will probably recognise that only one type of person gets those colours in these games.
-we also meet baby Ventus, Xehanorts apprentice. He looks exactly like Roxas.
-shenanigans happen, Xehanort splits Ven’s heart in two, creating Vanitas, who is Ventus’s darkness.
-Vanitas’ whole shtick is he wants to be reunited with Ventus, ostensibly to create the X-blade (yes it’s pronounced exactly the same as ‘keyblade’ and yes, every single kh fan ive ever talked to has found this annoying af)
-unfortunately being split in two like that puts ven in a coma, and xehanort takes the unresponiseve body to destiny islands to dump it like unwanted ravioli
-luckily for ven, “a brand new hear” hears his hurt and reaches out to help, filling out the gaps left in his and allowing him to start recovering
-the heart is sora
-actual, literal baby sora reaching out to help people before he can even walk yet.
-the game never spells this out explicitly, which makes it an easy plot point to miss if you aren’t paying attention
-ven doesn’t recover immidietly though, and xehanort sends him to live with his old friend Master Eraqus and his two teenage apprentices, Aqua and Terra
-here’s where we time skip, ventus is fully recovered, terra and aqua are young adults and about to take their Mark Of Mastery exams for becoming keyblade masters.
-Terra fails because he has darkness in his heart and also xehanort rigged it against him
-aqua passes and becomes a master. I love her very much.
-terra journey’s out to try and figure out where the darkness comes from
-vanitas taunts ven saying terra’s leaving him bc ven’s stupid or something and ven panics and chases after him (he’s like 14 and has a bit of a hero worship thing, stupid decisions are par for the course)
-eraqus sends aqua out to both spy on terra (he words it nicer but thats the gist of it), which aqua doesn’t particularly like but trusts her masters judgement and does it, and bring ventus home, which she is more on board with
-the biggest tragedy in bbs is that no one talks to each other
-stuff happens, they learn some stuff, aqua’s route has So Many Lesbian Feels with every single princess she runs into it brings me great delight
-Ventus learns the whole ‘fight your darkness to become the X-blade’ plot, eraqus learns this too and tries to kill ven. Terra busts in at the last moment and saves ven, at this point using his dark powers fully.
-#terrawasright
-eraqus dies, which i don’t think terra fully intended to do (he just wanted to save ven) and if you recall the scene in kh1 where kairi catches a falling sora only for him to burst into a bunch of floating glitter? imagine that but with two grown men
-aqua’s just trying to figure out whats going on. she gets to meet kairi (saves her from some heartless and then puts a charm on her necklace to keep her safe) and then meets Mickey, who will be our future duex ex machina
-they all meet for the final battle.
-ven asks his friends to murder him
-no one does that
-what the fuck ven
-they fight, and a lot of stuff sorta happens at the same time
-1: terra fights xehanort, who has essentially been spending the whole game prepping terra to be his next host. xehanort is a body snatcher confirmed. xehanort wins, terra becomes the fanon-named terranort.
-2: ventus fights vanitas. vanitas reveals his face, and he looks exactly like a colour swapped version of sora. (also voiced by the same voice actor! it’s actually surprsingly difficult to notice this if you don’t have some kind of clue already because haley joel osment does and *amazing* job). ventus wins, the X-blade is not forged, but as a lot of this battle takes place in his heart, the effects are bad and ven falls into a coma (he reaches out once more, and another hearts answers. “you can stay here a while, I don’t mind” says the other heart. yes its fucking sora again. too good, too pure)
-3: aqua gets knocked out to start with, but then she fights vanitas controlling ventus’ body, which eventually gets sorted out. terra’s dissapeared at this point, and she takes a comatose ven and hides him in the land of departure, which she uses a secret mechanism to turn into Castle Oblivion (and thus, impossible to navigate  without her key)
-aqua goes to hunt down terra(nort), and finds him in radiant garden. they fight, aqua wins, but when he begins to sink into the darkness she sacrifices herself to save him (which is how he ends up as one of ansem’s apprentices and mostly without any memories)
-aqua will spend the next ten years in the realm of darkness
-bbs is such a goddam tragedy
-OKAY
-time to fast forward
-so sora and ven are connected, which is why vanitas and roxas look the way they do, which brings us to
-the case of xion
-and 358/2
-the worst game to play but my absolute favourite in terms of slow-burn pacing and emotionally investing you in the characters
-this game pretty much just deals with the year sora spent asleep, and the kids time in the organization.
-roxas wakes up with no memories, is inducted into the org, and told “kill heartless with your keyblade”. He’s more or less a zombie at first, and accepts this without question.
-a week later, a new member is introduced, named Xion, who also has a keyblade, and is also a zombie with no memories at first
-Axel, the org’s assassin, is basically told to babysit them both
-he’s not really into it at first, but those natural Big Brother instincts kick in Hard about five minutes later and from that point on he’s mostly just trying to keep them both alive.
-oh, also Lea, Axel’s somebody, met Ventus in bbs, so that was probably a little weird for him.
-as the game goes on and these kids essentially learn how to human and try to figure out what makes them different, the Big Plots stew in the background. Axel and Saix have some kind of plan that Axel apparently isn’t sticking to, and Axel questions his loyalties more as the game goes on and circumstances force him to choose between two kids Who Did Nothing Wrong, and his oldest friend.
-Xion learns they are a replica, a la Repliku, created as a backup to roxas if he could not fulfil his duty in creating kingdom hearts. their connection with roxas, and through him sora, has the unintended side effect of flitering memories and feelings into and through Xion.
-this is why putting sora back together takes so long
-Xion, between the pressure of being an org member in general, and the mental load from being caught between three+ people in a very literal sense, has a breakdown. Riku finds them, and despite a pretty rocky start between them, helps them through it.
-Xion leaves at two different points, the first time, Axel brings them back. “please don’t hold back, Axel. Promise.” “Everyone always thinks they’re right”
-excuse me i have to lay down again after thinking about how emotionally wrought this scene is.
-(the alternative is he has to kill them. he does everything he can to avoid that, but it’s clearly approaching an unsustainable situation; the org is running out of patience for dealing with the ‘clearly defective replica’, xion doesnt feel this situation is right, and axel just wants to keep everyone alive.
-yes typing ‘clearly defective replica’ physically hurt me. xion is a perfect bab and xemnas can fite me
-Xion leaves again
-Roxas, learning pieces of this but not all, runs away from the org. cue titular “no one would me” “that’s not true!” scene from 2
-(this leads to what is a hilariously depressing scene of roxas on the clocktower looking at his life and going “where could i even run to? I havent got anywhere to go” because he’s never known anything other than the organization and whoops i made myself sad again)
-namine explains to xion that sora can never wake up so long as they have his memories. The only way for them to release the memories is to die. It’s a hard decision.
-Xion meets roxas on the clocktower, feigns insanity, and goads him into fighting them (”do you see my face, roxas? is it a boys face? don’t you see. I have to make you a part of me too.”)
-cue more ff style boss fights
-xion dies
-look i can’t go into detail on this one i’ll start crying again, xion dies, everyone forgets they ever existed, and roxas gets to watch them shatter into dust in his arms.
-in the brief period where the memories are quickly vanishing but Not Quite Gone Yet roxas goes into a Roaring Rampage of Revenge and storms the World That Never Was
-this is where Riku catches up to him, and from there its a pretty straight shot into the beginning of kh2
-which im sure if you played these in chronological order would be *some kind of mood whiplash* i bet
-okay what have i missed
-recoded happened. the only important part here is that malificent and pete find out about the black box and malificent being malificent of course she Has To Have It
-”but whats the black box??” you ask
-good question
-we still dont know
-its  origin point is in KHUx though,
-which is the multiplayer mobile game set during the Keyblade War of ages past. each weilder also has a companion dream eater named chirithy
-there are five unions, each headed by a leader and represented by an animal (unicorn, bear, snake, fox, and leopard)
-#anguisforlife
-these five (plus one more, named luxu) are each given roles by their master (the Master of Masters, or also known as MoM). He also tells them there is a traitor amongst the warriors of light. it’s unclear at this point how much of this he is directly steering. He also doesnt specifiy Which warriors of light, probably on purpose so everything happens as it should.
-so figure, trying to figure out who the traitor is is a pretty direct cause to no one trusting each other and eventually going for each others throats
-there is a page from the book of prophecies he gives only to luxu, who he tells that his role is to see the future with this Special Keyblade (and specifically the Eye in it). You might recognise it as xehanorts keyblade (and then you’ll start to see the Eye in a whole bunch of other ones too, notably in soul edge, way to dawn, and void gear)
-luxu fucks off, and everyone else goes about their business
-the first half of khux details how these unions came to  be rivals, and then how they fell into war with each other and destroyed the light. the second half detailed how Ava, leader of the fox union, created a fifth group known as the dandelions, specifically picked to survive the fall of the light and rebuild.
-ventus and lauriam are two of these leaders. No, we still don’t know how they got from one point to the other.
-one of the replacement leaders, strelitzia, got murdered and replaced by someone else. i think this plot point has been resolved in japan but i havent checked yet
-strelitzia is lauriam’s sister. she also knows elrena.
-and if you’re bad at anagraming like i am, lauriam=marluxua, and elrena=larxene
-so yeah figure that one out for me
-also i love strelitzia she has like two scenes total and i was already ludicrously attached help
-(Yes i screamed very hard during that One Scene in 3. we dont even see her face but it’s heerrrrrrrr)
-anyways
-right the black box
-luxu is seen carrying it off in the Back Cover movie as he wanders into exile. we still dont know whats in it. and that’s basically that.
-which leaves just Dream Drop Distance
-sora and riku take a Highly Modified mark of master exam under yen sid.
-things go wrong almost immidietly
-sora gets trapped by the xehanorts in a deep sleep, where they plan to use him as one of their 13 vessels of darkness
-there has to be 13 for some reason
-13 darknesses, and 7 lights, and when they clash it’ll make the X-blade
-because reasons
-it’s fate or something
-riku rescues him
-there is time travel involved now
-because at this point the 13 darkness now include; heartless ansem, master xehanort, xemnas, young xehanort, xigbar, and saix.
-more time travel will be involved later, but to keep this in mind the rules of time travel here are
-you cannot take your body with you
-you lose any future knowledge you gain if and when you return
-things are obviously wibbly here because it’s half in the dreamscape, but just. keep those rules in mind when you play 3.
....... im sure im missing a bunch but i just spent two hours writing the most casual pre-kh3 synopsis ever i hope you can forgive me XD

Namine was useless to the series
I WILL RISE LIKE THE BREAK OF DAWN | accepting
Tumblr media
♡ AYO LET ME TALK TO YOU ABOUT THIS BEAUTIFUL CHARACTER FOR A SEC EVEN THO I’VE YELLED ABOUT HER WITH YOU BEFORE.
Naminé is absolutely fundamental to the series just as much as any other character is, the problem is most of her stuff is very much done either off screen or is hinted at (the novels actually do my bby girl a lot more justice of what she does behind the scenes). This girl is a Nobody made from a Princess of Heart (who aren’t supposed to have any darkness inside of them), she has the most unique ability to look into memories that all connect to Sora. In Days, Naminé is doing her best to redeem herself from the events of CoM, all the while knowing what is going on with Xion is terrible and tries her best to soften the blow of her being forgotten. (Don’t even get me started on how much I love their dynamic and their talks in Days, bc I will cry). Between her and Xion, they’re the two that show how strong Sora’s connection to Kairi is. Xion being the literal manifestation of Sora’s perception and feelings of Kairi, while Namine is the product of him giving her heart back to her in the events of KH1.
She’s been manipulated and emotionally abused, yet she is the strongest character to come out on top because of all that she’s been through. In KH2, she deliberately puts herself in danger so that Roxas will know why there are people chasing after him. She tells him the truth when nobody else is willing to tell him and leaving him in the dark because they don’t want him to know. Even with DiZ dragging her ass back through the portal, she still fights him to get the entire truth out to Roxas, even if he doesn’t like it, he at least knows the truth. If it wasn’t for her, Roxas probably would have never known the truth, nor would he have remembered anything from his days with the Organization.
After that she’s the one who saves Kairi from her imprisonment in the World that Never Was (don’t even get me started on the subtext of saving yourself in those scenes). She helps her find Riku, who in turn helps her also find Sora in the end. She fixed her mistakes and still she thinks she isn’t worthy of being redeemed because of the things she was forced to do. It probably would have taken Kairi a lot longer to figure out a way to get out of that cell if it wasn’t for Namine setting up a jail break.
She’s also part of the reason that Sora was kept safe for that year of being asleep, between her, DiZ and Riku, they all made it so nobody could find him and use him. Naminé is the one that literally puts the pieces together for Sora in the smallest ways possible and she is the most underrated because she shows up the least and gets the least amount of attention.

anyways here’s one part of like 3 oneshots i never finished that 0.2 has rendered au but it’s basically like “ventus woke up because Reasons and sora and kairi are explaining the situation to him while mickey and riku rescue aqua”
so yeah i think i wrote this like a year ago and i definitely need to finish it bc i actually like..................... love it im ngl
Ventus didn’t even know life could be so complicated.
Or that his life would ever be so complicated.
And yet one day he was living in the Land of Departure, training under Master Eraqus with Terra and Aqua, and the next he was battling his inner-darkness-made-real and sacrificing himself to save the world from death, destruction, and mayhem.
He remembered feeling the warm solace of a child’s heart, but now that he was finally awake and rested, he couldn’t have told you that this was the boy he met ten years prior.
Sora was everything Ventus was before the battle with Master Xehanort and Vanitas: vivacious, restless, a little naive, and desperate to prove himself. Ventus thought of him as a breath of fresh air, especially in the castle’s underground study he woke up in, surrounded by people who carried themselves with the distinctive aura of someone who’s lost everything and fought tooth-and-nail to get even one thing back.
“That’s Leon.” Sora sat next to Ventus on the floor, his back flush with the wall, as he pointed at a man with a deep scar cutting across his face at a diagonal. “You’ll hear a few people call him Squall, but he says he prefers Leon. Squall’s his first name.”
Ventus nodded, and on his other side sat Kairi. She rested her head on his shoulder comfortingly, and he sighed into the feeling. Something about her -- her personality, her attitude, her magic -- felt like Aqua, whose fate he still had no idea of.
“The lady with the pink ribbon in her hair is Aerith,” she told him, curling closer into his side. “She helps run this place.”
“And that’s Cid,” Sora nodded, pointing to the man who grimaced around the toothpick between his teeth, swiping his hand across his forehead and leaving a smear of grease over his skin. “If you ever need a pilot or a troubleshooter, he’s your man. Ain’t that right, Gramps?” he called, and Sora and Kairi both laughed aloud at the finger Cid gave them.
They continued pointing people out: “That’s Yuffie,” Kairi told him.
“The blonde guy with creepy blue eyes is Cloud,” Sora said.
“He and Tifa -- she’s the one with long dark hair and looks like she could kill you with her hands tied behind her back -- are a thing. I think,” she added.
“And that’s --”
Ventus cut Sora off, nodding shortly. “Merlin, I know. I met him and Mr. Scrooge… the last time I was here.”
Sora sobered, sensing the turn of the conversation. He huffed a sigh and rested his chin on his knees, pouting at nothing in particular. “I wish Riku were here,” he admitted.
Ventus perked up slightly, and he nodded. “I want to meet him,” he told them honestly. “What kind of mission is he on?” he asked.
Kairi took a turn grumbling under her breath before she told him, “He and the King are on a special Keyblade-Masters-only mission. They swear it’s need to know, and we--” she paused, waving her free hand over the three of them -- “don’t need to know.”
Sora hummed in response. “Riku said if all goes well, we’ll find out as soon as they get back.”
Ventus turned to Sora with confusion in his eyes and a frown on his lips. “You’re not a Master? But you’ve done so much!”
Sora barked out a laugh and nervously brought his hand to the back of his neck. “Just because I’ve saved a bunch of people doesn’t mean I didn’t pass the test. I would’ve been turned if Riku hadn’t saved me.”
Into his side, Kairi shivered, but Ventus kept looking at him. “Turned?”
“It’s what happens when someone loses their heart to darkness,” a voice in front of them said, and Ventus looked up to see a man with striking silver hair sit down across from him. He visibly sagged, even as Sora launched himself from the wall into his arms.
“Riku?” he questioned, and the man opened a bleary aquamarine eye and nodded at Ventus.
“The one and only,” he grunted. He lifted his arm to let Sora nestle into his side before draping it over the other man’s shoulders, Sora looping his around Riku’s waist.
“So… you’re a Master?” Ventus asked, the skepticism bleeding into his tone against his better efforts. The man read so… dark, he realized.
“Our test went a bit astray,” he said instead. “Sora almost got himself possessed by Xehanort. Roxas almost came back out,” he mused aloud, wincing slightly when Sora elbowed him in the ribs.
Ventus felt himself pale a bit, and Kairi picked up on it immediately.
“Ven?” she asked. “Are you okay?”
Riku already caught himself wincing. “You didn’t know,” he said shortly. “The King wanted to be the one to tell you.”
“Tell him what?” Sora asked.
“Xehanort,” Ventus repeated, catching Riku’s eyes. “You mean…”
Riku nodded, pinching the bridge of his nose. “There’s a lot you don’t know yet, Ventus,” he told him.
But just then, a door slammed open with a gust of wind and the King hit the back wall following it. Riku and Sora snapped up, keyblades materializing in their hands -- Ven noted with a start that while Sora’s came with a flash of light, Riku’s came forth shrouded in darkness. He and Kairi followed with only a second’s delay, Lost Memory and Destiny’s Embrace already in their grips.
(Her keyblade, too, struck a familiar chord in his memory, but he kept the thought to himself.)
Riku surged forward, the darkness all too familiar to Ventus as he vanished, reappearing only steps from the now wide-open library door, and he cursed as he quickly teleported elsewhere, a triple-shot of ice exploding where he stood.
Ventus recognised the aura of the magic and he himself began striding forward, caught only by the spell Sora and Kairi cast around him.
“We need to keep you safe!” Sora told him without turning around. He took half a second to shut his eyes and, breathing deeply, he opened them to a second keyblade appearing in his hand.
Ventus pressed his lips together in frustration before searching for the weak spot in his shield, and after spotting it he aimed the tip of his keyblade at it, using Multivortex and barraging it until it shattered. Then, before he could register Sora’s curse and Kairi’s fingers just short of his jacket, he darted towards the doorway.
His keyblade disappeared the second he saw her, eyes falling on Aqua’s battered form with agony in his expression.
She stopped when she looked at him, too, the magic at her fingertips dissipating as her keyblade clattered to the ground and vanished.

and bc im in a talkative mood
lets talk abt the kh games i guess since i have a lot of love for this series
ive been replaying like. all of the games p much except for days and re:coded since sfjsdf they r not an option but
lets just. quick bullet points for all of the ones ive replayed recently
kh1
i forgot how weird the controls feel. it feels so stiff when you go from playing kh2/3/bbs back to the original. but i still love the game tbh bc its just. its such a fun lil time
except for monstro. fuck monstro. still my least favorite world of all time :/
honestly, playing this and beating it on proud mode gave me a lil hope for my abilities ngl like wow i guess maybe im not that bad at video games after all
atlantica is honestly one of my fave worlds from 1. i hate certain aspects of the swimming, but the little mermaid was one of my favorite movies growing up so i think just being able to fight shit w ariel is like. dream come true.
i dont really know if i have a favorite world overall, though. neverland is fun because of the flying tbh, halloween town’s atmosphere is rly good, and agrabah is still just. one of my favorite places bc of how much i love aladdin sfkjhsdf
traverse town i guess would have to be my favorite world? the music feels like home.
or 100 acre woods. it makes me so smiley. i love winnie the pooh. hes shaped like a friend and sometimes i really need a friend.
also i beat up tidus a lot so rip him i guess. i was like. level 10-12 by the time i left destiny islands so sdkjfhsdf sorry tidus, u were the easiest to get tech points from.
still the cutest version of sora/kairi/riku. kairi they did u so wrong in the following games :(
not my favorite sora, tbh. hes up there bc hes naive and a lil stubborn, but i think he falls behind...
kh re:chain of memories
this sora. hes angry, hes upset, hes stubborn, hes rash and impulsive and i love him to death. he feels so human in this one, and honestly???? i get what ppl mean when theyre like “re:com sora feels the most real” because he honestly does.
namine i love u so much oh my god????
the card combat system isnt actually too bad once you get used to it actually? i was extremely adamant about not playing this one bc i didnt want to learn the combat system, but... stickman sham’s videos literally pushed me to be like “okay sure, ill give it another go” and now im on floor 7
also stickman sham’s videos are just. so fucking funny sdkjfhsdfkh thank u for coming to my tedtalk
larxene could literally kick me down and threaten to kill me and id be ready to propose.
and then she’d kick my ass and id be like “hey axel, i also love u”
im very biased against marluxia rn though because he was a pain in the ass to beat in kh2 but hes lookin to be a promising villain ig? :0
uhhh last comment but
hjo’s voice for sora in this game amuses me so much sfjkhsdkfh its just. so funny to hear him try to sound younger i guess??? idk
also this is the only game im playing on beginner because im not that great at it sfkshdf maybe one day ill get around to it, but not rn
kh2
probs one of my fave entries tbh? that whole beginning sequence with roxas just <333 i love him so much.
axel is still one of my fave characters and i think this game was what solidified my love for him.
i think the bosses i had the most trouble with were xaldin and demyx. this is just me talking about non-optional ones though.
i read somewhere that like. the absent silhouettes, from easiest to hardest, are just: marluxia, lexaeus, vexen, zexion, larxene.
and i beat them: zexion, larxene, vexen, lexaeus, marluxia.
like. i struggled so much with marluxia holy shit??? fuck him :/
also i learned yesterday that the pride lands are optional???? wtf.
ok:
most fave world: either olympus, beast’s castle, or agrabah.
least fave: pride lands i guess
i dont rly have much to say here other than i rly loved most of this game
except for those FUCKING CARS.
kh bbs
i said quick bullet points but im a fool so
fave worlds: olympus, disney town, and neverland
least fave: none, tbh. its a really solid game imo even though it sorta falls victim to the “we cant talk to each other about any problems bc plot called for it” but the dynamics between the characters are just. v good. i love.
i question how anyone trusts xehanort when he looks like that, but also he’s supposed to be some esteemed keyblade master so i guess its more of a “i want your approval, even though u creep me out” than anything else
aqua’s route was honestly the hardest for me to begin with tbh. i had to grind for so long just to get her to to a point where she wouldnt immediately die.
terras route was my fave, i think. hes just... rly fun to play as.
ventus is <333
i just really love this game, okay
uhhh fave d-link: none because i constantly forget about using them. but i guess if i had to pick, probably stitch bc of the ukulele part. its very cute.
ill ramble abt 3D, re:com in its entirety, and reverse/rebirth later skfjhsd

I agree with everything you and anon criticized :/ I still love KH bc it holds a special in my heart and the concepts are interesting, but it’s pandering now. And it’s gonna get worse. I’m not looking forward to Subject X, or any current project bc it’s just gonna pander. Most likely half of the kh will eta it up and it’ll be UNBEARABLE s
I feel the same. I still love the series for what it used to be. But I honestly am not looking forward to anything that was teased for the future. I wanted to learn about the experiments on the darkness of the heart. Couldn’t care less about the new Subject X or her boring ass memories. Besides sequel-bait, KH3 was just a bunch of pandering. And it’s sad because I don’t even think Nomura wanted put 90% of that shit in. Look how much he complained about the amount of characters:
–In the recent E3 footage, there was some interesting dialogue about Roxas and I’m concerned about the development of KINGDOM HEARTS III.
Nomura: Because there are too many characters that are appearing, the storyline has become complicated. There are quite a number of main characters that have appeared in the series, and every character will appear in some form.
I found it funny that when he was asked about Roxas, he immediately started grumbling about how there are too many characters.
— With all that quality content being packed into each world, there’s no doubt that KH3 is becoming quite the rich game indeed.
Nomura: With the amount of characters involved this time, the story is also becoming quite rich. Because of the chain of events so far, the number of both friend and foe have multiplied. There’s too many to even have them all assemble together in one place (wry laugh). Additionally, I can’t just let each character speak one line and just be done with.
Then he was asked about the content and started grumbling about it again. He can’t just give them all one line and be done, either. So, we can’t just say thanks to Namine and be done with it, lol.
— Counting the number of Seekers of Darkness and Guardians of Light, just that number is a crazy amount…
Nomura: Yeah, and I have to solve all the problems that each of those characters have been carrying on their backs this whole time (wry laugh). There’s also every member of the old Organization XIII…
LOL. It really didn’t sound like he was very enthusiastic about bringing a lot of these characters back…at all.
“I do have a general storyline in my head. What is the most confusing is that, because there are so many characters in this storyline now, it’s hard to keep track of who actually met who already. I’m always like, ‘Okay, so who knows who in this situation, and who’s meeting this person for the first time?’ And that always gets really confusing.”
I mean, he started grumbling about how he can’t even remember who has met who. That says a lot about how passionate he was about KH3′s script. It often read like a parody to me, in all honesty.
“Because most of the original Kingdom Hearts characters are going to appear in Kingdom Hearts III, that’s just already too many characters to begin with. When I was writing the scenarios, I started to be confused with it as well myself. It is kind of complicated in that sense. It’s just been difficult for me to create a storyline that doesn’t involve those characters.”
And Nomura doesn’t just say there are a lot of characters. He says there are TOO MANY characters. And I noticed that this interview sounded suspiciously like Axel’s dialogue:
Axel: This is all very touching, guys, but where do I fit in? Ven looks just like Roxas—or is it Roxas looks just like Ven? And now I have to explain all of that to him—which is in itself a crazy long story—and, apparently everybody already knows everyone, and htis is an insane amount to get memorized!
Ven: Sorry, Lea.
Axel: You remember me?
Ven: Yeah, ‘course! We’re friends. I can’t believe you became a Keyblade wielder just like me.
Axel: Yeah…
Sora: Axel, you know Ven?
Ven: Axel? Who’s Axel?
Axel: See, see, see? Major brain-ache.
I honestly agree that there are too many characters now. The characterization seems like it’s going to just make everyone much flatter and less interesting now, because there’s simply too many to flesh out adequately. Isa is a joke now. Instead of making Ven a complex and more humanized character by giving him Roxas’s memories, he is probably going have to stay the 2-dimensional “cheerful, childish Roxas” because they already have the “edgy, dark Roxas” slot filled. Just like the fanfics portray them. Hooray.
Kairi has to be even more irrelevant than ever now, because Xion is exactly the same character that they planned to evolve Kairi into. A less objectified, and more capable female lead with a sweet personality. But Xion is back, so what do they do with Kairi now? Well, she’ll just go back to being useless, forgotten, and flat. She’s going to go back to being Sora’s satellite because none of her other relationships will be able to get any attention. There really was no room in the story for Roxas and Xion to come back, so all they wound up doing was stealing the spotlight from Lea, Kairi, and Isa. And Ven, too, in a way.
What was the whole point of Lea meeting Ven in the past if Roxas was supposed to be an entirely separate character who just randomly looks exactly the same for no reason? Nothing. What a lame ass reunion that was. LOL. Kairi’s budding friendship with Hayner, Pence, and Olette? Same deal. I wish Kairi had been able to sit on the clock tower and eat ice cream in the epilogue, but Xion was there instead.Same with Lea’s budding friendship with Kairi. It’s going to mean nothing now because there’s way too much going on.If Kairi had gained Xion’s memories, her friendship with Lea would have been much deeper. And maybe we’d learn about her past in Radiant Garden, since she and Lea are both from there.
