Fluff alphabets | Hinata Shouyou
Others: Kageyama, Oikawa,  Tsukishima
Category: fluff
Tumblr media
Affection: How affectionate is he? How does he show affection?
Hinata constantly wants to be holding you in any way available to him. He shows his love for you through countless kisses, hugs, texts, phone calls—just about anything.
He’s not afraid to proclaim his affection for you on live TV or in interviews but that subsequently means a lot of articles are written about you. Every single one of them is about how much of a doting and loving boyfriend is.
Baby: Does he want to start a family?
Yes.
Children between you and him? Of course he wants them! He’ll wish for them to be carbon copies of you because you’re the best person he knows and by his logic, that means his children will also be the best!
Thanks to his experience with Natsu, he’s skilled in taking care of babies and showers them in endless love. Would spend all of his spare time with you and the kids and every other parent will be envious of you.
Cuddles: Does he like cuddling? How often does he like hugging?
Hinata leaps at any chance to be around you.
He’ll use the most trivial excuse or reason to hug you: you look down, I’m hungry, your hair was flying around and you looked pretty, I wanted to check if your shampoo changed and whatnot.
You pointed out that since you’re going out with him, he doesn’t really need an excuse you cuddle with you. That made a lightbulb spark and now he just attacks you with surprise hugs whenever he wants.
Date: What is a typical date?
Exploring hidden corners of the city. This boy cannot sit still and requires physical activities or he’s going to go insane with the amount of energy that stockpiles.
He would scour them online or get some recommendations from friends when visiting their cities, or even his fans in the form of comments. It would mainly be cafés/restaurants or trinket shops so he can buy you loads of presents.
Experience: How much has he dated before? How does that reflect in this one?
He was an adult when he met you and he went out once or twice before, but it didn’t go for very long. This relationship with you is the longest yet!
He learnt bits and pieces from his previous relationships like how to treat your significant other and what not to do when dating, but it’s mostly useless since he’s somehow very intuitive in this area.
Fight: Do you fight often with him? How does it usually end?
Fights are incredibly rare, nearly none each year. The fact that you’re both so understanding and kind plays a factor.
He also hates fighting with you because he believes every moment with the person he loves needs to be happy, even though that’s unrealistic.
He’s incredibly stubborn and will argue with you if he thinks he’s right. The fight can drag out for days but you eventually reconcile through talking and spend the rest of the day cuddling.
Gentle: How does he treat you?
Hinata isn’t gentle, despite popular beliefs. He’s driven by his emotions way too much and won’t realise when he’s putting physical pressure on you. Of course, he’ll back off once you say it.
Once he realises you’ve been saying that a lot, he’ll try to restrain himself but it doesn’t work. The second he sees you it’s just “!!!! [Name]!!!” and all control is chucked out the window.
Hand: Does he like holding your hand? How often?
When walking down the street or relaxing in the house, his hand is always glued onto yours. He uses it to tug and maneuver you around crowds and streets to arrive at your destination quickly.
Sometimes he draws little characters or writes with his thumb on your hand and asks what he wrote. It’s always things like simplified versions of your favourite anime characters or “I love you”
Impression: What was your first impression of him?
“Who is this absolute sunshine and how can I love him?”
Hinata tried to help you find your way after you were lost but he’s directionally challenged as well so… In conclusion, you spent around an hour walking aimlessly around the town. In that time, you somehow fell for him and asked for his phone number first.
Even though it was obvious that he was as lost as you, he did his best to calm you down and led the way with unearned confidence which stole your heart.
Jealousy: Does he get jealous easily? What sets him off?
This boy cannot feel jealousy. At least in the romance area.
His heart is too wide and pure for any ugly emotions to rear their head in. If someone is constantly around you he’ll think “[Name] is so popular! I’m so happy everyone knows how cool they are!” and that’s it.
He’ll get kind of pouty if you say Kageyama is cool in front of him though. Hinata knows Kags is incomparable in volleyball skills so it’ll set his competitive fire even stronger.
Kiss: Is he good at kissing? When does he kiss you?
He likes innocent pecks all over your face whenever the mood strikes him. He doesn’t kiss deeper than that voluntarily. Sure, he’ll do it once you say it but not by himself.
He presses longer ones to your lips when he’s absolutely elated and cannot express his emotions in any other way.
Love: Who said “I love you” first? And when does he say it?
Hinata said it first with such ease and energy. Like it was something obvious and common.
It was as he was leaving for his morning jog and you called after him to take a jacket. He kissed you on your forehead and yelled “I love you!” as he was slipping out of the door. It left you dumbstruck and frozen from your spot until you melted with a blush.
It was, of course, returned when he came back with tons of kisses and hugs.
Memory: What’s his favourite memory with you?
The moment he saw you after winning his first match with you watching from the crowd. His head snapped to you as soon as the last point for the match was won and you had the most dazzling smile on.
It just filled him with such joy and happiness to see that you took the time out of your busy schedule to watch him. His heart basically just exploded when you hugged him afterwards and gushed about how amazing he was flying around.
You came to plenty of his matches after that, but nothing ever beat that rush of exhilaration he felt from the first time.
Nickname: Does he give you a nickname? Do you have one for him?
You have plenty for him: sunshine, love, tangerine, cutie, Shou, my light and more cheesy ones in private. He once asked you why you don’t call him those ones in public in front of all his friends and teammates while listing them off which basically killed you.
Once he realised that it was slightly embarrassing, he exclaimed that he loves hearing the nicknames in your voice and you should never be embarrassed. But he still understands if you don’t want to call him that.
His nicknames include shortening your name or adding “-chan” to the end of it.
Open: How open is he about his feelings?
So open. Hinata will shout how much he loves you from rooftops and mountain peaks if he feels like it. He never lets you doubt his love for you and constantly reassures you
The first time he mentioned you by “I’ll be back in time for dinner, [Name]-chan!” before running to the changing room made everyone double-take. After that, even when he received a scolding, he always says “I was able to perform better because [Name]-chan was cheering for me!” or something like that
PDA: Is he fine with PDA? How far can he go?
King of PDA right here, does not give a damn where you are. If you’re next to him and he wants to hug or kiss you? Then you’re going to receive them affections, there is no escape.
A private room of a restaurant, in the middle of a busy shopping centre, in a couple’s seat in the cinemas, nothing matters to him other than you.
Quirk: Habits or something he does which is unexpected?
Likes hiking in the afternoon. He started it first because the rough terrain would be a good workout for his leg muscles and help him in volleyball, but eventually does it whenever he’s feeling restless or bored. He’s super thankful that Japan is like, 70% mountains and tries to visit a new one every week.
Begs you to tag along because the scenery is wonderful and he wants to share it with you. Hinata wasn’t lying when he said the sunset was beautiful, the view is stunning.
Sometimes brings a picnic basket whenever you’re feeling a little down and feeds you a mountain worth of food while watching the sky change into red and orange.
Relax: What activities do you do with him to relax?
Playing video games together, often competing against each other.
Hinata received a variety of popular video games from Kenma a while back and is determined to clear all of them. He spends hours and hours of free time with you, glued on the sofa with you on his lap. It doesn’t really last though, since you wiggle and squirm so much during Mario Kart.
It usually starts in the afternoon until dinner, just hours and light competitiveness and fun. The loser usually has to clean up after the meal is finished.
Support: How supportive is he of your dreams? What do you do for him?
He’s like a serotonin boost that even being around him makes you feel more energised and motivated. Whenever you feel wiped out or exhausted, he’s right there to say positive things and encourage you to finish the assignment which is causing a massive migraine.
When you’re done, he’ll have some chocolate and warm tea to help you relax.
You pack him cute lunch boxes if you have time in the morning and put sticky notes of loving messages in it. His teammates get jealous when they see him giggling and texting you a response.
But the best way to support him is to attend his matches and cheer for him.
Talk: What does he like talking about?
He loves talking to you about the experiences he had overseas. How different and free Brazil is, how lively and funny everyone is. Or the new players he met and trained with when he has practice matches against them.
He loves it when you talk about your childhood and all the things you went through before meeting him. There’s always something new to find out about you and he won’t stop until he knows every single detail about your life.
Umbrella: What’s his favourite weather/season?
Hinata’s favourite weather reflects his personality: a warm summer’s day. Not one of those unbearably hot and humid ones but one where the cool wind blows and the sun is pleasantly warm on your skin.
He uses these days to go on a walk around the neighbourhood with you, mostly ending with a stroll around the park. Of course, he slathers on sunscreen on the both of you because safety first and he really needs to get rid of the remaining suncream from Brazil.
Vaunt: Does he like showing you off?
Hell yes, this boy flaunts you to everyone who’s willing to listen. Why wouldn’t he? You’re literally the best person he knows!
Not obnoxiously like “[Name]-chan is better than anyone else!” but more of a fanboy style. For instance: “I went to one of their presentations secretly and they were so eloquent and perfect, I can’t believe they’re dating me” like he isn’t one of the most sought after athletes in the entire country.
It’s to the point where his fans can recite facts about you and it leaves you confused.
“Shouyou, why does the public know all these things about me?” “Ummm…”
World: Where does he take you for vacation?
Definitely Brazil, specifically the same city he spent two years in. When he arrives, he’ll try to introduce you to all of his friends and acquaintances with the biggest smile.
He acts as a tour guide and shows you all the hidden favourite spots he found in his time there. Also teaches you some Portuguese and learns Spanish with you.
Of course, playing beach volleyball takes up a large amount of time over there. You joined in a couple of times even though your skills were considerably lacking than the other side.
It was mainly just for fun and experience (and ogling at Hinata ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°))
X-ray: What happens when you’re injured or sick?
This is painful—because of his memory of The Fever, he always tries to keep his body in tip-top shape. So your concerns of him overworking himself or falling ill get reduced to a minimum.
If you’re the one that’s sick, then he’s by your bed 24/7, ready to do anything you want or need. He calls up Iwaizumi and his teammates for advice and writes everything down, following it to a T.
Yearn: How much does he miss/pine for you when apart?
So damn much. This boy misses you the moment he steps into the plane and texts you until the flight attendant tells him to put the device away. It’s mostly heart emojis and selfies so he can look at them while flying.
It becomes a ritual that no matter what, no matter the difference in time, you have to call each other at least 3 times a day. It doesn’t have to be meal times but it has to be at least 3 times.
If not, he’ll be sad for the rest of the day and sulk the entire time he’s off the court. Eventually, his teammates all call you to please help this moody wing spiker.
ZZZ: Does he have sleeping habits?
Fidgets and moves around a lot in his sleep. Always wakes up in a different position and he’s so confused and disorientated.
This kind of makes it hard for you since you sleep together so the solution was: buy a king-sized bed. It was like a whole new experience.
It works well until he once pushed you off. Your yelp woke him up and he apologised so much and nearly cried even though you were laughing and said it was okay.

The Nintendo Gamecube - Review
(cheery tech music)
- Hello, and welcome to Game Sack.
This time around we're investigating
at another underestimated framework
also, this time it's the Nintendo GameCube.
- That's right, Joe.
A many individuals avoided the GameCube
for the PlayStation
2 and surprisingly the Xbox,
however, the framework in fact has
a ton of incredible selective titles.
- It truly does.
- And it even has the
marvelous Game Boy connector.
(snickers)
- Yeah, that is truly marvelous.
- It is.
- Anyway, before we take a gander at the games,
we're going to investigate
at the actual framework.
(extreme music)
The Nintendo GameCube was
dispatched in North America
on November 18, 2001, only three days
after the dispatch of the first Xbox.
The control center's name was extremely expressive
since that is by and large what it was,
a shape that messed around.
It likewise had a clever conveying handle.
On the rear of the framework
were associations for power,
simple sound and video, also
as advanced sound and video.
However, the advanced port was
just at any point utilized for video,
expecting you to utilize both
jacks all the while,
which was unquestionably not cool.
The control center upheld reformist
filter and widescreen video.
Nintendo ultimately
got rid of this jack
completely on late model GameCubes.
It was the main Nintendo framework
to utilize optical plates as the fundamental technique
for game conveyance, however,
they went with little plates
with exceptionally low limit,
just about 1.4 gigabytes.
That implied that games
regularly must be separated
over different plates, or that elements
from multi-stage games needed to
be taken out from the GameCube adaptation.
The standard regulator
looks extremely bizarre from the beginning,
offering an extremely odd, however
truly agreeable catch design
furthermore, maybe the best simple
stick ever for any game framework.
The GameCube would ultimately get additional items
like a modem, broadband
connector and a Game Boy player
which let you play Game Boy
Advance games on your television.
The online capacities for the framework
were scarcely contacted
upon anyway as Nintendo
authoritatively expressed that gamers
didn't have any desire to mess around on the web.
Rather they zeroed in on what
they called network
where you join the
Game Boy Advance player
to the regulator port and every player
could see their
own screen on the GBA.
The framework was upheld until mid 2007
furthermore, sold 22 million units, more than
twice as much as the Sega Dreamcast.
(energetic music)
- And it likewise ought to be
noticed that the CAV designing
of the Nintendo GameCube circles too
helped load times be quite quick.
- Joe, exactly what the heck is CAV?
That is to say, you behave like everybody is simply
expected to know what that implies.
- They don't?
- No, obviously not.
- Well, CAV represents
consistent precise speed
which implies the plate consistently turns
at a similar speed regardless
what position the laser's in.
Similar to the old laser plates
which just had a half hour video for each side.
However, it truly helps the look for
times and all that stuff.
- That is extremely fascinating.
- obviously it is.
- Another great reality that I will
most likely easily forget once more.
(snickers)
Do we have any games that
we will take a gander at?
- Yeah, why not start
out, what do you have for us?
- I will show three of the best.
(playful music)
First up is Luigi's Mansion.
Okay, so the GameCube dispatched
what's more, there was no Mario title to the consternation
of many fans.
- [Joe] You know, I bet if
they had a Mario title
at dispatch, the framework would
presumably be much more well known.
- [Dave] Sadly, we won't ever know.
Nintendo concluded it was the ideal opportunity for Luigi
to get an opportunity at greatness
what's more, gave us Luigi's Mansion.
It's anything but a common
stage game that individuals
were acclimated with
the new Nintendo framework.
This time around Luigi has
to save Mario who is caught
in this house by something very similar
plot that got Luigi there.
At any rate, you play Luigi's Mansion
by going space to room tackling conundrums.
You utilize your Game Boy Horror to look
for phantoms and lock onto
their pulsating heart.
- [Joe] Hmmm, phantoms don't
have pulsating hearts, Dave.
In the event that they did, they wouldn't be phantoms.
- [Dave] They do!
Take a gander at the Game Boy Horror,
there's a thumping heart not too far off.
Here you'll get it together of what you need
to do to have the option to see the phantoms
also, suck it up with your
Poltergust 3000 phantom vacuum.
(creepy music)
When you gather a portion of the greater phantoms
you'll get a key which will
open up new pieces of the house
to investigate and rehash the interaction.
The controls in the game are great
when you become accustomed to them.
The music is additionally useful for the game.
It's not frightening by any
implies, nor are the illustrations,
which are much more adorable than unnerving.
Keep in mind, this is Nintendo.
- [Joe] Exactly, we have
children to contemplate here.
- [Dave] I think it split
directly down the center
on individuals who like this
game and individuals who don't.
I without a doubt do like it a
part and made some incredible memories
with this game.
It was and is a game that is extremely interesting.
I'm exceptionally expecting the continuation
that is coming out for the 3DS.
(coins ringing)
- Mario?
- [Dave] And here is
Super Smash Bros. Skirmish.
What game framework is finished
without battling games?
None of them!
- [Joe] The CDI didn't
have any battling games
furthermore, look how noteworthy that thing was!
- [Dave] (giggles) You are so correct.
Truly, the GameCube never
saw any Street Fighter,
Realm Fighters or Dead or Alive,
in any case, that doesn't mean it that way
didn't have anything fun.
All things considered, it had the greatest
fanboys dream materialize.
Crush Bros. Skirmish pits characters
from the whole way across Nintendo's establishments
against one another in a
four player fight royale.
As a matter of fact, this is the most awesome thing.
At the point when you get three of your
Nintendo fanboy companions together,
you would go through hours playing this game
like it's only five minutes.
Regardless of whether you're on your
own, you can play this game
since there is such a lot of content that
it would be extremely hard
for you to get exhausted.
In single player you can
play the experience mode
which makes them platforming
and hard and fast fights
like overcoming a specific sum
of Yoshis before you can advance.
Or then again you can play the four player scuffle
with three CPU characters.
The control in the game is acceptable
furthermore, the battling is a long way from profound.
I mean you have a square catch,
punch button, and a
auxiliary assault button.
- [Joe] A square catch?
What is this, Mortal Kombat?
- [Dave] Oh god, no!
While it's a long way from troublesome,
it's a genuine catch
masher that is exceptionally fun.
Back to fanboy stuff.
This game is stacked with it.
Each stage is taken from a
diverse Nintendo establishment.
The music is remixed
magnificence from Nintendo games.
HAL Labs must be my
most loved second party engineer.
All that they appear to
put out is unadulterated gold.
(hollering and crushing)
Furthermore, what might a GameCube scene be
without a notice of Metroid Prime?
At the point when it was first
declared as a FPS game,
I had blended sentiments.
First and foremost, I love the Metroid series,
so normally I was glad to hear this.
- [Joe] I love Metroid, so
I was exceptionally dismal to hear this.
- [Dave] Secondly, at the
time, I wasn't a devotee of FPS,
what's more, I figured this could never work.
How is it possible that you would have a platforming
puzzle tackling game as a FPS?
Indeed, I was charmingly
shocked by the result.
Metroid Prime is an incredible game in general.
Retro Studios did an astonishing
work with the Metroid establishment.
They made everything fit together so pleasantly
that I was drenched in the game
from the two or three minutes of play.
The controls took a bit to become accustomed to,
however, wound up appearing well and good.
The world made in
this game is exceptionally flawless.
(impacting)
The illustrations are very
useful for the GameCube,
what's more, the music is exceptional.
It's a blend of exemplary Metroid songs

About Me
Hello! My name is Sal and welcome to my blog, Suspirium! Suspirium is a word that originates from one of my favorite movies, Luca Guadagnino’s 2019 remake of Dario Argento’s classic italian horror movie Suspiria. According to World of Dictionary, Suspirium is a Latin word meaning “Deep breath, sigh”. It’s also the title of one of my favorite songs from the soundtrack to the movie produced by Thom Yorke of Radiohead. I’m a huge horror movie buff so expect to see a lot of that sort of content on my blog if I can incorporate it into any of my work. I chose this as the title of my blog because of how well the word fits into the movie, and I just love the way it sounds. Anybody who’s watched the movie will understand, but I won’t go into detail as to not spoil it for anybody who hasn’t yet seen it.
Tumblr media
Throughout my highschool years I technically went to two schools. My main and home school was Middletown High School, and my secondary school was Orange Ulster Boces in Florida New York. In high school I was always in media production and art classes. For example, photography, video editing, drawing & painting classes and my favorite was an Elements of Horror class I took my senior year. Horror being my favorite genre, I absolutely had to take a class that’s dove into the origins of classic horror novels, films and short stories. Leading to me finding my favorite classic horror story Dracula by Bram Stoker, and a multitude of stories by H.P. Lovecraft. Continuing on now to college i’m now majoring in Media Production while also still taking some classes in Marketing and Design! I really enjoy both a lot so it’s hard to kind of pick exactly which I want to do, but it’s nice knowing that no matter what path I finally choose I'll still have some experience in the other!
Aside from my education, I love to watch horror movies and read stories in my own free time. Movies in general are a huge hobby of mine and I watch at least 3-4 a week given I have the time. Some of my favaroties of all time concerning classics have got to be the Halloween series, The Evil Dead series and all four of the Scream movies. Other hobbies of mine that take up a huge part of my life and time are video games and music. I have a pretty big record collection that’s continuously growing with at least 80-90 albums and counting. I just recently purchased a few more to add being Sade’s Diamond Life, Whitney Houston’s Whitney and Whitney Houston albums, Lazaretto by Jack White, Texas Sun by Khruangbin & Leon Bridges and Petals for Armor by Hayley Williams. Hopefully my next additions will be What’s Your Pleasure? by Jessie Ware and The Baby by Samia. I’ve been collecting them for years, but especially now since even CD’s are starting to go out of style. I’m the kind of person who still likes to have physical copies of all my music and movies and games so having such big collection is super special to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In terms of video games, I try and play as wide of a variety that I can because I believe I can find something I like in any genre. Strategy, shooters, brawlers, online competitive games etc, but I think my favorite style of game is single-player, narrative driven experiences. Most recently I played The Last of Us Part II and was absolutely enthralled with it. I loved the first game so much so getting a sequel was something I was extremely grateful for. I don’t think video games get enough credit for what they do for storytelling. TLOU 1 and 2 are some of my favorite stories that I have experienced in any form of media. The heartbreak, pain, love, fear and excitement those games have succeeded in giving me while just sitting in front of my TV is something no other form of entertainment has brought me. Some of the most touching moments, but also the most excruciating. They also had a queer women front and center throughout the games which is something that isn’t very common in video games so seeing that was really nice to me. Other than The Last of Us, some other solid narrative driven games I’ve played are God of War, Uncharted 1-4, Marvel’s Spider-Man, The Tomb Raider Reboots, Ghost of Tsushima, the Batman Arkham series and Control.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although story based games are my favorites that doesn’t mean I don’t have a place in my heart for some good old fashioned fun as well! I also really enjoy a lot of the Super Mario and Legend of Zelda games as well. My biggest pet peeve that I have with the gaming industry right now though is Fortnite. I think it’s literally the most annoying game ever created. People spend hundreds and thousands of dollars just to buy skins and weapon packs and I think it’s absolutely ridiculous. The fact that I work at a major video game retailer and constantly have kids running through my store screaming about the damn game at least once a day could also contribute to my hatred. Either way, I want no part and absolutely nothing to do with it.
Going back to queer representation though. I recently watched Pose over the summer. Not only was the show heavily based during the AIDS epidemic in New York City, almost the entirety of the main cast was comprised of Transgender Black women. On prime time television! This is the first show to ever achieve such a feat. Not only was the cast extremely talented, I thought the writing and production of the show as a whole was brilliant. It definitely has its flaws and I could point out a few of them, but I believe all of the good of the show far outweighs the bad. It’s not afraid to tackle extremely real and difficult subjects the Transgender and Black communities have faced in this country and all over the world. It’s so important to see content like this on television as well because EVERYBODY deserves representation. Not only was the cast Trans, but one of the lead writers of the series Janet Mock is also a Black Trans woman! Pose was filled with heartfelt moments that truly had me sobbing in my bed as I watched. I think I actually cried at pretty much every single episode for both seasons. The cast is brilliant, the realism and talent and star power they bring to the show is like nothing that I’ve ever seen before and I’m so glad to be able to see them up on my television. I so badly one day hope that I can be behind the scenes of producing a show of this caliber some day.
Tumblr media
While I have yet to help in the production of a show like this, I have had my fair share of of making short films, music videos and even assisting on a friend of mine’s first full length movie that he submitted to festivals. Last year, I had the opportunity to shoot a short horror film with my classmates for our final project. The film was based around a young woman getting trapped at her school in the middle of a blizzard, and slowly beginning to realize that she may not be alone. In a fight for her life, she has to survive till morning while going up against a mysterious killer who lurks the halls of her small town college. Sadly, we didn’t have enough time to produce a full and finalized cut of the film but coming together and working with a few other classmates was still a really fun experience. Not only was I able to play the role of the killer, I aided in audio, music selection, location scouting, props department, shot planning and writing the movie and it was a great time. I also had the pleasure of helping out my friend Matt Vincini in shooting his short film The Cattle Farmer. A horror/thriller film about a boy who is adopted into a family, only to realize that his life might have been planned from the start. It featured a mysterious woodland family who may or may not have had cannibalistic tendencies that included their adopted children. It was a super cool experience to be on a set with a bunch of actors and seeing my friend in action in the role of director. Collaborating on projects like this with friends is always a fun time, even it does get stressful at some points. At one point in the film, one of the characters realizes that the dinner he is currently eating could quite possible be his last meal ever. Which kinda let me to thinking what my last meal would be. After some thinking, I think i’d definitely have to choose my families homemade pasta and meatballs. I know, pretty stereotypical for an Italian family but it’s just so good. We make our own sauce every september and it’s a huge family event. Everybody comes together and one of our houses and it’s literally a whole days worth of work. The best part? At the end of the night, we all have a huge feast and make pasta and meatballs with all of the sauce we just made. It’s one of my favorite things to do with my family and always one of my favorite meals. Not only is it delicious, but also sentimental.
This is all for now! Thanks for stopping by my blog and reading a little bit about me. I could probably keep rambling on for hours but I don’t think that’s the smartest idea. I can’t wait to fill this blog with more content this year and hope to hear from you guys as well! Until then, i’ll be watching more movies and DEFINITELY playing some more games. At this point i’ve been playing the new Marvel’s Avengers video game so, let me get back to kicking some AIM ass!

Hi I'm really enjoying ready a lot of your prompts. I'm not sure if you have answered something similar before but my question to you is if you could explain why do you think Amy is in love with Sonic and possibly why do you think Sonic 'might' like Amy in return. Thank you so much and I really appreciate it if you could answer these questions.
I would love too! It’s been a long while, so I might as well collect ‘new evidence’ right? :)b Also, thank you so much! I’m sorry everything is on shutdown (except Commissions! Rules link: x Pay link: x ) but I’m always excited to write a prompt when I get around to it! lol
Tumblr media
Let’s start with the beginning. According to her creator, Amy was made with many “Fingers in the pot” and one of the main traits he mentioned was that he wanted Amy to be cute and have her focus set on Sonic. Since Sonic is always moving towards the next adventure, not really focused on anything else, he needed someone who would be completely concentrated on him. In Japanese culture, devotion/loyalty is an endearing characteristic, and it’s clear that Amy exhibits a sole fidelity to Sonic. This was intentional but perhaps mistranslated when interrupted by American culture.
Rosy the Rascal was meant to, based on fan speculation, set up the world’s perception of Sonic. He was famous for his heroic deeds, but in Sonic Adventure, we learn that he never considered himself a hero. He tells Shadow he’s just a guy who loves adventure, and according to the Canon Timeline, Amy was the first ‘friend’ Sonic ever had. His first ‘saving the damsel’ act, that defined a hero (especially in those time periods) was set up by him saving Classic Amy Rose.
She, therefore, has a small backstory explaining how she admired his heroism, used Tarot Cards to find out where to meet her ‘destined’ and was soon kidnapped and rescued by him. This only solidified her feelings for him, showing that not only did Sonic have a fan, but now he had a devoted self-proclaimed girlfriend in the process as well.
It was important that Amy was ‘self-proclaimed’ because besides being ‘shy’, Sonic is also not one to demonstrate a lot of emotion. This correlates with the ‘cool’ image that is reflective of Japanese young heroes. So, Amy set up that Sonic was a popularly recognized hero and even had fans, but she also revealed that most found Sonic attractive in his deeds and personality. “He’s so cool!” kind of stereotype. But besides being a rising star, Amy fell in love with him for his good deeds and risking so much to save her.
This is stage 1, let’s move on through the timeline.
As Amy kept reappearing (after Sonic met and befriended Tails and even Knuckles) she asserted herself into his circle to be closer to him. She gained a new strength, the Piko Piko Hammer and drew new expressions out of Sonic that normally wouldn’t have been seen before. Because Sonic doesn’t show many personal emotions, Amy has emotion enough to spare between the both of them. It’s relevant that this behavior, common in Japanese anime stereotypes, is frowned upon in the American fandom, but it’s actually praised and regarded with admiration in the Japanese fandom.
Another Sonic official on Twitter stated that if Sonic didn’t have a boy’s heart(A.K.A, wasn’t a young boy), he would probably choose Amy. I believe that’s because “The one who stays in the race, finishes the race” is true in this regard. Because Amy chases Sonic (A healthy part of any romance) she is constantly there (In sight, in mind.). So it’s safe to say one of the reasons Sonic could be more fond of her than he lets on is because he recognizes that she’s always there. She won’t abandon him nor her feelings for him. This level of devotion is praised in Japanese culture, and I would imagine he reciprocates this.
Tumblr media
He rewards her efforts for this loyalty time and time again. Not only by saving her, but by also allowing her to do as she pleases. He never really goes against her. He never fights back with her. In fact, in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 battle, directly resulting after the Classic Era, it shows Sonic’s consideration for her feelings.
“Amy…. Take care of yourself.” In the Japanese version, Sonic pauses a considerable amount of time as Amy expresses the horror of his supposed sacrifice to protect her. He gives her one last cool pose, preparing for whatever may come, and reveals that in his heart–he felt it was his job to take care of her.
This correlates with Classic Sonic’s feelings, although not fully expressed in words and mostly done through deeds.
Amy’s feelings only grow stronger after this point, resulting in her being even more forward about wanting to marry Sonic, as it is her way of saying she’ll be his forever, and love him for all eternity. It is stated by SEGA that Amy can never get over Sonic, there will never be a ‘another love interest’, though they have explored Sonic being charming to other girls. Due to his already stated ‘attractiveness’ because of his heroic deeds, many girls have swooned over Sonic, and he’s treated this with patience and a heroic smile. He comforts girls, but he always returns to Amy’s side. Why is this? You may say, “Well, it’s because you just said she’s devoted to him, so he’s returning the gesture.” Well, you’re half-right, but it’s only half the tale.
In later additions, Sonic is shown to also get exasperated with Amy’s overly energetic flirtations with him. It’s actually more an anime stereotype once again, where the boy is embarrassed by the girl’s forwardness. In Japanese culture, the demure girl is praised as the most attractive quality for a woman. Amy is the stereotypical opposite, due to Sonic’s aloof nature, she has to be bold in her declarations of love for him. You can see the ‘demure’ type of girl found in Cosmo, Vanilla, Elise, Shahra, and even some in Blaze. Rouge is the stereotypical ‘older matured woman’ to put it lightly, but Amy is the energetic girl in anime stereotypes, bold and quick to anger or at times bossy.
In a Japanese translated bio online, Amy is stated to ‘cheerfully embarrass men’ which is shown in many incidents in Sonic X and the video games. In this regard, we could deduce that Sonic silently enjoys the praise as well as reciprocates her devotion. She loves him because he won’t hesitate to do what’s right (Heroism) and always follows his heart (cool and willful personality) while Sonic stays relatively close (in spirit) and is always devoted to protecting or being there for her.
Tumblr media
These are the biggest traits that define Sonic and Amy’s feelings for each other. Mostly demonstrated in Sonic X, we see Sonic returning home to Amy, their telepathy ability when Amy is thinking hard about Sonic, and revealing that Sonic was thinking solely about rescuing her. We also see it in Sonic saving Amy from drowning, and Amy diving in to save him from the Metarex. There is also stated attraction on Sonic’s end for Amy during the ‘dress’ scene (But Amy is canonally stated to be a ‘pretty girl’, which is subtly expressed in the Video Games as well. Silver stating this world is beautiful, but pausing to blush and look away when Amy tilts her head while the sun highlights her is just an example. Sonic flirting with The Lady of the Lake and having a date with Amy is another example from Sonic’s POV.)
So, to conclude this little essay, I’ll say that the real answer is- “Sonic returns to Amy because she’s his perfect match. Her devotion is of course included in the mix, but it’s also because she expresses her feelings for him so openly, it’s touching how she’ll risk everything for him and he would willingly do the same.” They both care so much in such different ways, and the different ways they express it is perfect for how the other wants to be loved. Sonic doesn’t always like the forward attention, but he appreciates that he never has to question her devotion to him. Amy loves Sonic because although he’s shy, he finds ways to still show he cares deeply about her.
Although these two are still very much children, they have a foundation of mutual fidelity and trust that can’t be broken. (Sonic won’t destroy Omega, Sonic protectively defends Amy against Jet, and Sonic accepts Amy’s bracelet for him, A.K.A shows he accepts her feelings for him.)
Many in the fandom argue that Sonic can be inconsiderate of Amy’s feelings, which is true. He’s still a young boy and makes mistakes, but there is supportive evidence to suggest he does this in the presence of Eggman or others. I also support the theory that he doesn’t want her to get hurt because of him, so he keeps his distance during crowds, but as it is often player choice, he also goes on dates off and on with her from time to time.
In conclusion, these are just some things that result in Amy’s love and Sonic’s crushing. I say ‘crushing’ because Sonic isn’t quite fully there yet. He’s devoted but rarely speaks his honest opinion of her.
Even Omochao states in Sonic and Mario Winter Olympic’s: “No one knows if Amy is or isn’t Sonic’s girlfriend or not.” He never tells. Could this be because of his fear of her getting hurt by his enemies? Or his shyness? Possibly the fact that he never does say how he thinks about Amy?
Ever notice that?
But he constantly thanks Amy, and I think that subtle, “Thanks, Amy. I appreciate it.” Is honest. It may not be “I love you” but it’s something along those lines. Amy’s “Marry me!” Is her way of saying it, but moreover, what she wants to say is– “I don’t want to give you an ultimatum, because how you live your life is wonderful! But at least let me and my love for you be a part of it!” Which I believe he does return in full freedom of allowing her to love him in the way that suits her best.
He may refuse her advances, but he never has refused her heart.
She may not like it when he doesn’t consider her feelings, but she will always believe in him.
This is what I believe Sonamy is today.
There is plenty more, but I believe this is what needs to be stated, and perhaps this is too long already, so that’s how I’ll leave it for now ;) Thanks for the ask!

WW Meta: character reactions to being “on the outside”
( Never would i ever have imagined myself one day typing “warioware meta”, & i know no one asked for this, but... if you find this kind of stuff as interesting as i do, i hope you enjoy :’) )
It occurred to me that each of the characters in the WarioWare series could be examined separately as a different reaction to being an “outsider”, and so I wanted to write about it and share! As the series is in itself a celebration of the strange, it prides on being different from the rest. But that doesn’t make the developers invulnerable to their own unique circumstances!  This is a long post altogether, but a few short character pieces underneath the readmore.
This post makes a lot of references to the WarioWare MMG Developer Diaries, which can be found here!
Wario: Selfishness
With his trademark abrasive personality, Wario lives his life with seemingly little regard for his friends -- or for anyone but himself. He refers to himself with the overly grandiose “ore-sama” personal pronoun and continually neglects to pay his employees with every new game in the Ware series.
Tumblr media
But it’s well-established in the Mario universe that, as a child, Wario was jealous of the attention that his better-known counterpart got, thus driving him into the antagonist role of early games in the Mario series. Wario reacts to being othered with greed & a dogged pursuit of self-service, doing most things in furtherance of his own selfish goals... possibly stemming from a belief that if he does not fight for his own wants in life, then no one else will:
“While I was away crusading against the mystery alien Tatanga in Sarasa Land, an evil creep took over my castle and put the people of Mario Land under his control with a magic spell. This intruder goes by the name of Wario. He has been jealous of my popularity ever since we were boys, and has tried to steal my castle many times.”
- Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins English manual, pg 3
Tumblr media
WarioWare takes place far after this time in his life, as he seems to have settled down in Diamond City & no longer appears to be preoccupied with antagonizing Mario like he used to. Despite this, he has remained greedy and self-serving in most respects.
Mona: Adaptability
Mona is strange. She has an odd sense of humor, an obsession with nose fortune telling, and a fascination with such unsavory characters as Wario. Despite this, she is also a part-time pop star and cheerleader, has an active & healthy social life, and is unafraid of speaking what is on her mind.
Tumblr media
As comfortable with herself and outwardly confident as she is, Mona is a perfect example of adaptability. She knows she’s “different”, but she’s versatile enough to blend in with a wide variety of people and social situations and, for all intents and purposes, lead a (somewhat) average teenage life.
Of note about Mona is her tendency to include as many people as she can in things that she finds fun or exciting, especially those in need of friends. One of my favorite illustrations of this is from the Japanese Smooth Moves diaries, where she commiserates with Ashley over not seeing their parents often, and even invites her to hang out:
“My mama is always away from home because of her work, so I sorta understand how Ashley feels. Don’t hesitate to come and visit me when you’re lonely!”
Tumblr media
In Gold, she continues this trend by inviting her old friend & classic boss Joe to a party she is hosting with her friends. Those who make a point to include others like Mona does in the things that they do often understand what it’s like to be excluded...
Jimmy: Nostalgia
Jimmy is entirely unique as an “outsider”, because that status is not with respect to society itself, but to the past & his own youth.
Tumblr media
Though Jimmy is generally placed around the same age as his childhood friend, Wario (~25-26), some of his mannerisms suggest that he still views himself as a younger man. He remains as hip on new trends as possible, embracing email and text messaging and enthusiastically encouraging his coworkers to follow suit. His most jealously guarded secret is implied to be that his large, expressive afro is actually a wig, possibly meaning that he is either losing hair or keeps his natural hair short to make way for the more obnoxious blue ‘do.
His appearance & preferred style of dance are distinctively 70′s, and in his diaries, Jimmy uses the pronoun “boku” to refer to himself, a pronoun usually reserved for use by teenagers and younger men aged ~14 to ~21. He enjoys disco and spends entire days at Club Sugar, dancing away the day with seemingly no other cares in the world, much like a younger, less mature man would.
Tumblr media
Jimmy does a lot to preserve an air of youthful vitality, but while he does it, he lives in the past. In the end, though, he seems happy with this lifestyle... as does his entire family!
Tumblr media
Dribble & Spitz: Observation
Both Dribble & Spitz’s stages & developer diaries revolve almost completely around one facet of their lives: their taxi-driving. The people they meet while on their shift, the places they end up, the strange things that happen on the road… on a typical day, the rest of the world passes by their taxi window.
Tumblr media
I think the most interesting things come into play when considering the two individually, though. Of the duo, Spitz seems most content with this lifestyle. Symbolically he has a fascination with outer space, where the only action available to do is to observe, to people-watch. And in one of his more illustrative entries, Spitz views the Earth from space for the first time and is so struck by the planet’s beauty -- and the constant movement of the people inhabiting it -- he begins to cry:
From outer space, the Earth looks perfectly round, beautiful… Thinkin’ about how on the Earth, there was always somethin’ somewhere hastily at work, I couldn’t do anything but cry a few tears… What could I say?
A little more restless than his companion, Dribble talks frequently about wanting to take vacations from work to engage with the people around him in social events. Despite this, he finds entertainment in being an observer, particularly from passengers with strange stories, foremost of those being the frequent misadventures of Dr. Crygor.
Dr. Crygor: Independence
Speaking of! The eccentric doctor lives on an island in the middle of the ocean. From there, he does as he wishes, caring little about the opinions of others and pursuing his unconventional scientific endeavors in peace.
Tumblr media
Dr. Crygor is aware that he is a uniquely scientific thinker and has experience with people disbelieving in his out-of-the-box theories and observations,  apparently even from childhood. Nonetheless, he cares very little about what other people think of his lifestyle, choosing instead to trust in his own intellect and find answers by scientific means:
Long ago, yes, when I was a 10-year-old child, I discovered this fact, and I reported it to my friends with excitement, but no one could believe it. However, I studied with various gums, and I remember reporting the research results to my friends, and them finally believing me. From that moment on, I aimed to become a researcher…
On his island, Dr. Crygor is free to be as he is and perform as many scientific experiments as he pleases, free from the constraints of societal norm -- whatever that may be in the WarioWare universe. Though he is aware he is an outsider, he could care less. He takes advantage of his freedom to take his eccentricity to extremes -- because he can, and because it is suitable for his work.
Tumblr media
Kat & Ana: Obliviousness
Like most young children, Kat & Ana are much too young to have any conception of the world’s social norms. The vast majority of their diary entries revolve around their interactions with those in their immediate friend circle and with each other, with very little attention to the world beyond that.  They are certainly different from other kids their age, but they are also entirely unaware of it. So, how can one respond to being an outsider if one has no idea that they are one? :’)
Tumblr media
Ashley: Self-Sabotage
Of all the characters listed here, it’s Ashley who is the most destructive in her approach to her outsider status -- because she creates it herself. In fact, many of her most common behaviors seem tailor-made to keep people at arm’s-length.
Tumblr media
Ashley stands intentionally on the outside of groups, rarely smiles, and struggles to express emotion besides anger and apathy. Her compliments are halfhearted and passive (“I guess”, “maybe”, “not bad”), while her insults towards the player after losing her games are direct and personal (“pathetic! abysmal! lame!”)! She is vain (“Everyone knows that I’m the greatest!”), has a short temper, and is occasionally very cruel towards even her closest friend, Red. She prides herself on others’ fear of her (“You should be afraid of the great Ashley!”) and defines herself by what she is in relation to her own superiority, and by what she is not in relation to other people (“She never plays with dolls and she never combs her hair / Who has time for girly things like that?”).
And yet in her unguarded moments, Ashley is aware of a side of her that desires friends and companionship. She appears to think about, if not miss, her absent parents. She blushes on the implication that she is enjoying her time at the potluck in Gold. And in yet another revealing moment in her Japanese diaries, in which Ashley tasks Red with writing her diary entry...:
“I'm Ashley's close friend, Red. I haven't told this to anyone, but Ashley is actually pretty lonely. While we were experimenting with magic by the riverbed, we saw a friendly family of apes. Then, Ashley seemed to be looking far away. I acted as though I hadn't noticed, but I know very well. She was probably thinking about her parents from her hometown. Ashley has more cuter characteristics than you may think!”
We see her trending away from this loneliness slowly, but surely!
Tumblr media
Orbulon: Insecurity
Ironically, Orbulon sets himself up as an almost-perfect counterpoint to Ashley. While Ashley consciously builds up walls around herself to keep people out, Orbulon is continuously having to take down the walls others build around him.
Tumblr media
In his diaries, Orbulon struggles greatly to communicate in earthen language, his writing riddled with syntactical errors. At a company barbecue, he claims to enjoy himself, not because he is having a good time, but because everyone else is. And notably, he mentions enjoying being around Mona, because “she does not treat me like an alien.”
In other entries, Orbulon is secretly insecure, caring a lot about what others think of him, especially with regards to his intelligence. When he is invited by 9 Volt to a friendly gaming tournament, he spends the entire night practicing playing video games, worried that it will reflect badly on him if he doesn’t win. In another (somewhat depressing) entry, Orbulon, in a bout of loneliness, makes multiple failed attempts to visit each of his coworkers, even at one point seeking out Dribble & Spitz’s taxi. Eventually, he is able to find Kat & Ana... but leaves shortly after, as he quickly becomes self-conscious when he senses that they are “acting strangely” because he is around. In the end, Orbulon ultimately goes back home to sleep instead.
Orbulon of the diaries is constantly thinking about himself in relation to the earth-folk around him, hoping to eventually belong... but it seems he eventually achieves it. :’)
Tumblr media
9-Volt: Rebelliousness
9 Volt is known at his school as a troublesome kid.  His name appears on the blackboard for time-out in Twisted, and his teacher even singles him out during 18 Volt’s classroom introduction! He is uninterested in his schoolwork and has to be bribed to complete it. And despite being very close to his mother, he does defy her by staying up late to play video games and hiding from her when she comes to check up on him in the night.
Tumblr media
But outside of school, 9 Volt is not at all a bad kid. In fact, he is actually compassionate, intelligent, and -- like Mona -- also seems to have a tendency to want to include people who he sees on the outside. He is the only one to approach 18 Volt on his first day in class after their teacher scolds him; when he sees Orbulon walking home alone, he invited him over to his house; he frequently invites Kat & Ana over to play video games... and, perhaps sweetest of all, his “pet”, Fronk, is a rescue:
“A year ago, [Fronk] had been abandoned and I picked him up. I made a personal decision to make him my pet. What would I do without him?”

8, 37, 41, 47, 48, 53, 55, 68 please
 [link to the post]
Sure dear sister~^^~
8. Favourite battle?
The fight against Asgore is still the most difficult (i never played genocide route), the saddest and the most interesting fight i ever did~ His theme is amazing and his battle has a particular signification because it is suposed to not be entertaining. You have to fight someone who will definitely die at the end, the easter eggs with the pie ans the facts he remember to have killed you is very interesting (Frisk is even counting the number of kills). Asgore is a little the Sans of the pacifist/neutral route. He is definitely my fav battle~
37. Your headcanon about Gaster: who do you think Gaster is to Sans and Papyrus? (Father, brother, uncle etc)
To me Gaster is definitely a genius egocentric scientist who loves talk about himself (i consider that the gaster’s followers are actually Gaster himself trying to interact with the world which forgot him, the fun value being his link to the world). After, Gaster is surely the creator of Sans and Paps. Like how, i don’t really know, but i must admit that i am a part of the Dadster fandom~ Not the best Dad ever, but still a responsible Dad who loves his family~
41. What would be the first thing you would to show to Sans, Papyrus or the rest of characters in human world? Why?
Like Frisk, I would show them a sunset, a star sky and a sunrise? i am not very creative with that x)
47. Do you listen to any fanmade songs? If so, then which are your favourite?
DAgames, Mandopony, Tryhardninja and Thelivingtombstone are the basics :7 but i also love the ua themes made by fans like Outertale, Fell, Dance ect… But my fav fansong is surely the interpretation of the themes of Undertale by Games&Symphonies Opera~ [link of their amazing work Go check their work, they have even made Sonic, Street fighter and Mario Themes etc!
48. What are your favourite theories?
I am a part of: the Dadster theory, the theory where Chara is not the evil that everyone is thinking, but just a lost child who is taking the player as an exemple, and i am very supportive of the theory; the Determination is actually the most common soul on earth (because all the players have a red soul) and all the other colours are quite rare because the others fallen children given up on their determination during their routes for some reasons and have been drained of the little dose they had initially in their soul by Alphys.
53. Your fabourite voice acting:
Outrageous to only have one! @swapdancepapyrus, @starbotdubs and @twinklephoenix for the English ones and @rnrproductions for the French ones~
55. Who is older - Sans or Papyrus?
I usually see Sans as the older brother, but sometimes i don’t mind to see them as twins~
68. The funniest situation:
When my sister and me took conscious that the hard mode wasn’t a joke at all and were really REALLY hard! (and with this funny sentence at the end~)
thanks for the questions~

Discover how all of life is one big game – then choose how to play it.
What comes to mind when you hear the word game? Monopoly? Super Mario? Chess?
Games are more than this. In fact, its as big game. Unlike board games you played as a kid, life can be played in two very different ways.
Think of the differences between games that have clear goals and rules, and games that don’t. Some people see life as a game with clear winners and losers and a fixed amount of time to play. Others see it as a series of moments that all carry endless possibilities and no winners or losers. From career to sex life, the way you choose to play will have a huge impact on your life.
I think after reading this you will see
why some people are so obsessed with titles;
why your colleague has to win every argument; and
why your idea of time is completely wrong.
You can see almost every part of life as a finite or an infinite game.
When we think of games, we usually think of hide-and-seek, truth-or-dare or similar children’s games. But if you reflect a little further, we adults have our own games too.
The games of adults, however, can be finite or infinite.
Finite games have specific temporal, spatial and numerical boundaries. A finite game always has a clear beginning, a particular playing field and a certain number of players. Besides these external restrictions, there are also internal limitations that mean that the rules of the game must be agreed upon in advance by the players. Then the players compete in line with these rules with the aim of winning.
Then the game is over.
If this doesn’t really sound like the real world to you, consider a general election. The rules of an election are clearly outlined; a winner is decided by the amount of votes on a given day, there are certain practices that are or are not permitted (for example, vote rigging is banned) and only one candidate is allowed per party.
Infinite games, on the other hand, are the polar opposite of finite games.
While people play finite games to win, infinite games are played with the goal of continuing the game. Therefore, infinite games don’t have external or internal restrictions. Anyone can participate in the game anytime and anywhere.
Consider music composition: there will never be a best symphony, because there will always be new composers writing inspiring music. No composer makes music to win or be the best, but because the compositions she writes are invitations for even more people to join in the game.
All this might sound a bit abstract at first, but read on to get a better grasp of what life looks like according to the finite and the infinite player.
Finite players are limited by the world observing them, while infinite players know no boundaries.
We’ve seen that finite games necessarily have temporal, spatial and numerical boundaries. But other boundaries are needed, too.
Imagine if the rules for an election stated merely that there should be two candidates and that the one with the most votes would win. On their own, these rules would mean the two candidates could be common criminals, and you could have new elections every day if you liked!
This is why finite games are also regulated by the audience observing them. The audience determines when the game occurs and who the players are. In the example of the election, the electorate is the audience who decides who the two candidates are and when the election will be held.
This means the finite player is not free to play the game at his or her leisure, but must depend on the time allotted by the audience.
The finite player is under pressure from the audience to play and finish the game. For instance, the finite game of an exam entails the player working to create something – answers in this case. She then spends the two allotted hours working because that’s the amount of time her teacher has given them to complete it.
In contrast, infinite games have no boundaries, so infinite players govern their own time.
As infinite games have no beginning or end, time doesn’t pass for an infinite player. Instead, each moment presents a new beginning with new possibilities for the game to unfold and develop.
Instead of consuming time, the infinite player fills it with play. He won’t finish a work project in two hours simply because that’s the allotted time; he will work for as long as he desires, inviting others to join in.
Where finite players see society, infinite players see culture.
Whenever we play games, we need others to play with us, whether they’re our teammates or our opponents. However, there is a difference in how finite and infinite players perceive their game in relation to other players.
Finite players see society essentially as one big finite game consisting of smaller games such as school or a profession, with every player trying to win against others and be awarded a title.
This title can simply be recognition for having won a past finite game. For example, for the finite player, a priest would be “Father,” as this is the title earned for having completed specific training and, as a result, winning the game of becoming a priest.
This title is then displayed through property, and society is obliged to honor it. For example, imagine you attend a respected college and become a successful lawyer. To show your success, you might then purchase an expensive car.
Infinite players are different. They see society as a continually developing culture.
Focusing on titles means concentrating on previous victories. For infinite players, these are irrelevant because their attention lies on the future and the possibilities it holds. Therefore, infinite players are more concerned with offering a vision that could encourage others to join in and work to develop that vision, rather than offering an ultimate solution to a problem.
For instance, an infinite player wouldn’t fight poverty by struggling to provide citizens with a specific amount of goods. He would see more value in sparking a discussion on where poverty stems from in the first place.
Finite players strive to dominate through winning, while infinite players strive to coexist through playing.
The desire to dominate accompanies finite players everywhere – from their behavior in the bedroom to conversations with friends.
Players of finite games aim to win in order to gain control over others. By flaunting their titles they exhibit their superiority and overshadow others. They endeavor to do this in every way possible, and this typifies their gameplay.
Finite players see even basic conversations as a game to be won – they don’t want to discuss, they just want to give explanations and convince the opponent of their truth. In these cases, knowledge becomes the title to be won.
For the finite player, sexual relationships are also a way to take command over their partner and conquer them. This might involve concealing their own sexual desires through elaborate courting rituals until a desired end is achieved.
The infinite player, on the other hand, is not concerned with winning over others, because to them, only the game matters. As infinite games don’t have winners, infinite players don’t care about demonstrating their superiority. They play for the sake of the game.
For the infinite player, conversations are interactions based on give and take, where listening is valued as much as talking. She sees them as a discourse, rather than a chance to give an explanation. Infinite players don’t assert that what they say is truth. Instead, they offer their conversation partner a perspective, and are open to any new knowledge that the conversation might bring.
Infinite players also aren’t fixated on a particular outcome in the game of sexuality, whether it’s obtaining physical pleasure or conceiving a child. They play in order to explore and understand themselves and each other.
Finite players are a product of their past, while infinite players transform theirs.
How much does your past weigh on you? Finite players are compelled to play by their fixation on the past.
Finite play is actually a game of the past where finite players eagerly assume the roles given to them and thus play a part that was designed in the past and for the past. For example, if you were born as the eldest son of a wealthy family, as a finite player you will adopt the role of being the heir of the family, safeguarding its property and reputation.
Consider the psychology behind entering a finite game. As it’s really all about winning, the players must feel the urge to prove themselves. How often a finite player wins or loses is irrelevant because she dwells on their past, where she’s still a loser. If she wasn’t  so wrapped up in the past, she wouldn’t enter a finite game in the first place.
See it this way: if you feel like a deadbeat in front of your classmates, you might be driven to become successful so that you can prove them wrong. However, no matter how successful you become, you still feel like the same loser, because it’s your motivation to keep grinding away at your job.
Infinite players view things differently. They liberate themselves from their past using their uniqueness. They can make peace with the past by acknowledging their own genius and originality. For an infinite player, the past is history. It doesn’t determine the future, because the future of an infinite game is open-ended and rife with possibility.
For an infinite player, being born as the eldest son of a wealthy family is not a blueprint for life; it’s the starting point of an infinite number of possible games.
You can choose what kind of game you want to play and what kind of player you want to be.
There are numerous differences between finite and infinite games, but this doesn’t mean that there aren’t finite games within infinite ones, or that you can’t opt out of them altogether. After all, you have the power to choose what kind of game you want to play.
Remember that participation in each and every game is voluntary.
Finite players often feel they are obliged to play, and feel pressured to play in a certain way. But in the end, no one can force you into the game if you don’t want to join it.
It’s true that finite players are chosen externally. You can’t be a lawyer until you have passed the bar, for example. It’s also true that you have to do predefined things to stay in the game as a lawyer, such as go to court and attend meetings. However, no one can force you into being a lawyer if you don’t want to be one.
We all opt to play and adhere to the rules of the game by our own free will, so you can choose which game you want to take part in.
Finite players feel trapped because they have to put on a particular guise in order to play certain roles properly. For example, you should be seen as wise and just to be a lawyer.
The problem is, sometimes these masks become too convincing even to ourselves, and we get lost in the game, forgetting that we’re only assuming a role and can always quit the game. So the lawyer who feels bound by her duties must remember she can always leave her job and move to Jamaica if she wants to!
At the end of the day, the game you play is your personal choice. As long as you don’t hide behind masks and or let yourself be duped by the masks of others, you can play as you wish.
Life can be seen as a finite or an infinite game. Finite players focus on the outcome of the game, such as winning and losing, whereas infinite players center on allowing the game to continue and give rise to multiple possibilities. However you choose to play the game is up to you.

Kompromise
Summary:  While unpacking your belongings at Jumin’s house, you discovering something about him.  It triggers your first fight as a married couple!  After the After Ending.
Pairing:  Jumin x MC/Reader
Genre:  Slice of Life; Fluff
Rating:  G
Word Count:  Approx. 1400
Protip:  Wii remotes are compatible with the Wii U. Also, I do not love this title.
A few nights after returning from your honeymoon, you were finally moving all of your things into Jumin’s home.  It wasn’t difficult; it was mostly clothes and personal knickknacks, but you also had a few electronics that Jumin had never seen before.  You had dismissed your husband’s offer to hire a professional decorator and maid service to move in your things, and had instead recruited Jumin’s efforts in unpacking all your boxes.  He thought it was a waste of time for one of his rare off days, but he also had the majority of the reins for planning your wedding, so he decided to humour you and your commoner quirks. Marriage was about compromise, after all.
“What on earth is this?” Jumin asked, unearthing an unusual white box.
You glanced up at him, then smiled at his confusion when he saw that a controller with a screen seemed to be part of the machine’s set.
“Do these really go together?  They have the same logo,” he wondered out loud, comparing the two objects side-by-side.
“That’s a Wii U,” you chuckled, readjusting his grip on the controller; he had been holding it upside-down, “You’ve never played with one, before?”
“I am a grown adult,” he rolled his eyes, “What use have I for toys?  Electronic or otherwise.”
“It’s not just for kids; adults can play, too!” you exclaimed, “Fun for the whole family!”
“Do you not need children to be a family?” Jumin raised an eyebrow.
“Not at all,” you laughed, then took the console out of Jumin’s hands, “Give me a moment; I’m gonna set this up on your TV.”
“Pardon me?” Jumin blinked.
“We’re playing this game!” you answered, already leaving the room.
“But we have not yet finished-” Jumin started.
“Taking a break!” you called over your shoulder, and you were out of sight.
“They spelled ‘cart’ incorrectly.”
“No, that was intentional.”
“It’s a mistake.”
“No, it makes it look more fun.  Now, here’s your controller.”
A few minutes later, the two of your were seated on the couch, waiting for the game to boot up.  You handed Jumin a Wii remote controller that you had mounted in a plastic steering wheel.  He looked at the object in his hands incredulously.
“Are you serious?” Jumin grumbled, I feel ridiculous.
“Hush.  We’re going to have fun,” you chided, kissing him on the cheek.
He stopped protesting, at that.  You ran him through the game’s basic controls, and before long, the two of you were racing cars and bikes with various cartoon characters.  To your delight, you saw that Jumin was enjoying himself!  It made you happy to find something that the two of you could do together.
…Well, at first.
“My love, that makes it 12 victories for me, and 3 for you.  Shall we call it a night?” Jumin asked, seeing through the huge windows how dark it had become.
“I can’t believe you beat me!” you exclaimed, shaking your controller, frustrated, “One more game!”
“I have work, tomorrow, dearest,” he shook his head gently, then, after glancing at the clock, “Well, in a few hours.”
“Just one more!” you insisted, “I’ll beat you, this time!”
“I’m afraid I must decline,” Jumin murmured, pulling you close and leaning in to kiss you.
To his unpleasant surprise, you turned away at the last minute so that he ended up pecking your cheek.
“…wife?” he asked, confused to see that you were frowning.
“I can’t believe you beat me,” you grumbled, crossing your arms and refusing to look at him, “You can’t even drive!”
“I can drive,” he protested, then amended, “Not well, but in theory-”
“Whatever!” you interrupted, pushing him away.  Still not meeting his gaze, you turned off the console and began walking to the bedroom, “Fine, it’s time for bed.”
Jumin was perplexed, but he put his controller down beside yours and followed after you. To further shock him, you shut the door in his face.  He blinked, then glanced around; thankfully, any bodyguards that were on duty were out of sight.  There were no witnesses to this particular debacle.
“…wife?” he called through the door, knocking gently; he hadn’t heard the lock turn, but he had a hunch that you didn’t want him just walking in, “Is something wrong?”
“No,” you called through the door, sounding anything but all right, “Good night.”
“…am I allowed in?” Jumin asked, still confused.
“NO.”
Your husband waited at the door for a few beats.  Perhaps this was one of your adorable jokes.  He waited for you to open the door and declare that you were teasing him.
…You did no such thing.
“Is this because I beat you?” Jumin called through the door, “I beat you at Mario Kart and now you’re banishing me to the couch for the night?”
“Precisely!” you yelled at the closed door, before burying your head under the comforter.
You shut your eyes tight, irritated.  Stupid trust fund kid… You heard the bedroom door swing open, then shut again, and felt the bed shift as Jumin got in beside you.
“I thought you understood that I wanted you to sleep on the couch!” you exclaimed, remaining covered in blankets.  You didn’t see it, but you knew your husband had that smirk of his on his face.
“I shall, dear wife, but not until we talk about this,” he said calmly, placing his hand on a lump that he figured was your shoulder, “Come, my love.  It is ill-advised to go to bed angry.”
You gritted your teeth, knowing he was right, then finally poked your head out from under the covers.  You glared at him, but yes, there was that damned sexy smirk.
“Why are you angry with me, dearest?” Jumin asked smoothly, as if you didn’t have murder in your eyes.
Your eyes narrowed at him, then you sat up and punched him in the shoulder as hard as you could.  He barely flinched.  That was not satisfying.
“Why are you so good at everything?” you burst out, refraining from hitting your husband and wringing your hands, instead, “You picked it up so fast!  WHY.”
“I am an intelligent man,” he answered, then added quickly, when he saw that that was not the sort of answer you were looking for, “Is that so bad?  I can provide for you so well because I learn things so quickly.”
“But,” you sighed, “I thought, at least I had driving over you!”
“Over me?” he raised an eyebrow at you, “Is this a competition, this marriage of ours?”
“That came out wrong,” you tried again, “What I meant was…I’m supposed to be your partner!  You’re rich, and smart, and so level-headed, and…I figured that, at the very least, if Driver Kim called in sick, I could drive you places.”
You blinked, realizing how lame that sounded.
“Wait, I wanna try again,” you started, but Jumin took your hands into his, silencing you.
“Dear wife,” he murmured, rubbing little circles into your hands with his thumbs, “Have I made you feel inadequate?”
“…yes,” you sighed, squeezing his hands gently, “Yes.  I feel like I don’t bring very much to this marriage.  And…sometimes it hurts.”
Jumin placed a gentle kiss on the back of one of your hands, then asked, “You, my love, are quite mistaken.”
You rolled your eyes at that, but he ignored it and continued.
“You…are my heart,” he said, hesitating a little, “Without you, I truly am the cold, uncompromising bastard that others believe me to be.”
“That’s not true,” you started, but he shook his head at you, not finished speaking.
“Without you…nobody would see that I am human,” Jumin said, holding one of your hands against the side of his face, “Without you, I am alone.  Without you…I am barely alive.”
Jumin smiled tenderly at you, so much gentleness and affection in the expression you felt your stomach tie into knots.
“Dearest wife…you bring everything into this marriage.  Without you, I am but stone and ice.”
You felt your eyes misting, and apologetically, you leaned in and kissed your husband tenderly.
“I’m sorry, husband…”
“There is nothing to forgive,” he murmured, grazing his nose against yours, “…May I sleep here, tonight?”
“Of course,” you smiled, then teased as he got into bed beside you, “I still want that rematch, husband.”
“Anything for you, dear heart,” he agreed, wrapping his arms around you, “Goodnight, my love.”
MARITAL BLISS.
A GOOD MARRIAGE CONTAINS COMPROMISE AND MARIO KART.
Wait, I forgot to add something:
“How are you driving so well?!”
“I’m not driving.  I’m directing the car.”
“...”
“...I am C&R’s Directo-”
“YEAH, I GOT IT.”
Got the idea from that fluff prompt list.  Written for @mysticmessimagines‘s Valentine’s Week.  Enjoy!

The Grand Return (1up Deadfic)
AN: In many ways, this is one of the more fascinating deadfics I have in the graveyard. In other ways, it’s pretty much exactly the same as others failed projects.
This was meant to be a loose adaptation of the first three Legend of Zelda games, with a Sci-Fi twist. So...yeah, it’s the First Rebel but with Zelda instead of Mario. XD However, just like the First Rebel, there are a few concepts in this deadfic that I still think are actually pretty good.
The main one being that Ganon, after gaining control of the kingdom of Hyrule, not only banned people from worshiping the three goddesses, but also attempted an Orwellian retcon by creating a false religion to take their place, that being a form of Christianity (explaining why the first two games had christian imagery).
Later on, Ganon would reveal that he had gotten so sick of the Cycle repeating over and over, that he used this tactic in an attempt to prevent him being defeated once more. He no longer wanted the Tri-force, he just wanted to live freely.
Honestly, I think that was actually a fairly clever way of explaining things. Though, had I been more popular, it likely would’ve gotten me in trouble.
I also remember wanting to play with the Cycle a bit by creating two antagonists. Ganon would be the obvious big bad, one that must be stopped by Link and all that jazz. However, there would also be a much more personal antagonist for Link to face, Dark Link. In fact, Dark Link would essentially turn out to be the real antagonist of the story had I finished it.
It made sense for me to go that rouse because, if you really think about, Ganon and Link are never really personal enemies. They’re usually fighting each other because they literally have to. There’s only two examples I can think of where the rivalry had personal stakes: Wind Waker (where Ganon kidnapped his sister) and Twilight Princess (where the children of Ordon are kidnapped by the bublins). But even then, Ganon’s influence was rather minimal.
Making the true antagonist Dark Link just made sense to me.
That’s all I remember of my plans for this deadfic for now. If I have anymore, I’ll just make an updated post. I hope you all enjoy this.
-------------
Prologue: Forbidden Legends.
Long before the skyscrapers, guns, cars, and religions of today, there was a legend. An old one that spanned for many centuries, it told of a cycle between the dark one named Ganon, the princess named Zelda, and the hero named Link, battling for the safety of the land of Hyrule. It was called The Legend of Zelda.
It was a classic tale to say the least, Ganon would usually take over Hyrule and try to posses the golden power, Link would come and stop him with the help of Zelda, and then they'd both slay Ganon where he'd be sealed away in a sort of limbo, Link and Zelda would rejoice, Hyrule would be saved, and Ganon would be locked away. After a century or more though, he'd be released to take over Hyrule, and thus the cycle would repeat with new Zeldas and Links fighting off Ganon to save Hyrule once more.
While of course, it wasn't always executed like that, sometimes, the cycle wouldn't even mentioned, that's how it usually went. There were other aspects as well like the three Goddesses Din, Farore and Nayru who not only created Hyrule but also the Tri-Force, and then there's the Tri-force itself or as it's commonly known as, The Golden Power.
It's a mystical and powerful object that's usually split up into 3 parts, Ganon possessed the Tri-Force of Power which represented Din, all Zeldas possessed the Tri-Force of Wisdom which represented Nayru, and all Links possessed the Tri-Force of Courage which represented Farore.
All three pieces are somehow connected to the three goddesses and if something were to happen the pieces themselves be it they scatter or get destroyed entirely, then the goddess of that particular piece would also be greatly affected.
It was indeed a fine legend to tell, however nowadays you can't tell it, at least not in Hyrule for it is forbidden. Why? Well all that's known is that a long time ago, there were certain events, events that caused the Tri-Force of Courage to be destroyed, the Tri-Force of Wisdom to be scattered in a faraway land, and Ganon to be set free from his seal. While the exact details of said events were destroyed in the sands of time and the fires of censorship it's still apparent that something happened.
Due to the Tri-Force of Wisdom being split Nayru was greatly weakened, stripping away most of her powers except for a little trick or too, while Farore had completely slipped into a coma due to her piece being totally obliterated. Then there's the escape of Ganon, you'd think that since Ganon was free, he'd go on a mad quest to retrieve the other scattered pieces of the Tri-force of Wisdom, or maybe he'd run Hyrule into ground in an act of insanity, right?
Actually, not only did Ganon rule Hyrule responsibly, he outright banned anything having to do with the Tri-Force, the Goddesses and especially the Legend. All the books, songs, and any other mementos that were related to the Legends were destroyed, and any mention of things having even anything to do with the Legend were discouraged and was an instant death sentence. The only thing he allowed was that people could be named Link or Zelda but that was it.
Why he acted like this, no one knew, but it was apparent that anyone who acted against his wishes were going to suffer, so no one dared to defy him. Many years have passed and since the Ganon has set up another Religion in a final attempt to destroy the memory of the past. And as of right now it seems that Ganon has been ruling for centuries now and nothing is going to change…. though if the legend has taught us anything is that patience is a virtue.
------------------------------------
Chapter 1: Preparation.
"Hi, how are you. Do't give me that, you know why I'm here. Now shut up and listen. Today's gonna be the best day of your life rather you want it to or not! And you better not screw this up because if you do, I will not be pleasant, I may even be a little pissed because we both know how special she is and we both know you want this so I'm telling you again if you DARE, screw this up- "
Link paused a little to calm down as he saw his face became red in the mirror. He was always like when he talked in the mirror, it was a way to prepare himself for the day. You see, it was terribly common of him to do so, because at times, Link was a little forgetful. He had a special talent for promising to do one thing tomorrow and then not doing it because of his forgetfulness, well that and the fact that he rarely takes anything seriously but that's another story.
However, he found out that if he just stood in the mirror and barked at himself long enough, he'll instantly remember to do whatever he told himself to do. Maybe it was the fact that he gets scared whenever someone shouts at him, or maybe it was just because of the fact that he, himself was one of the few things he took seriously, make that of what you will.
Anyway, Link spent a good or hour too shouting at himself, making sure that he remembered every single word that got thrown at him. So it was fitting that he calmed down a bit, plus he noticed how red his face was getting. He then started talking in a more toned down and calm manner,
"Remember, you're not just gonna work on the ranch and go home to watch some shitty slasher flick on the Tube late tonight, I mean this isn't just some other Friday for you, it's a special one that you'll remember forever.
"Now then, you're gonna go to that ranch, do your absolute best, make sure to do some extra work for no pay too, then take your girl out to dinner, and after that…"
He stopped there as he looked at a little box that had a nice ring in it. He picked it up and, with a smile, continued his speech while still looking at the ring,
"Well you know what'll happen after that."
He then put the box down as he looked back in the mirror and his smile turned back into a serious frown,
"But in case you don't know what to do, all you'll be doing is dinner, a visit to the Lake Hylia Aquarium and Museum, maybe a show if you can squeeze in enough and when you're back at the ranch, you stoop to your knees and pop the question, that's it. Alright? Don't, mess, this, up!"
And with that he took the box with the ring in it and tried to stick it in his pants, only problem was he had no pants on. As Link looked once more in the mirror he realized that he only had a white shirt and underpants on. His hair wasn't even cleaned up!
At first, Link wasn't that worried, he did his little "Speeches" in the mirror for hours before. But then he looked at his phone and saw that it was 8:30, this is where he realized how late he was as he shouted:
"SHIT!"
And ran to his closet. Now Link's room, hell, his entire apartment for that matter, was not exactly, classy. I mean it was…decent but if he seriously intended on marrying the love of his life, he'd have to change it a little. Several pieces of clothing and books were on the heavily stained carpet floor, the lights always flickered on and off, his dining table felt like it would brake at any moment, and his bathroom was in desperate need of attention.
However Link, as usual, ignored the obvious flaws of his apartment and began digging for his outfit. After a while, he came out of his room dressed up and ready to go. He wore a nice green shirt that was mostly hidden under his blue jacket, a dirty pair of jeans, some boots covered in mud, and to top it all off, a green hat that he always wore outside, no particular reason to, he just liked to show it off.
After he got dressed, Link grabbed the box and put in his left pocket, making sure it wasn't too noticeable. He then grabbed his rupee bag, which contained about 99 rupees and put it in the left pocket as well in order to hide the ring more. Link also grabbed his phone and put it on vibrate since his boss didn't allow noisy farms during working hours.
After putting it in his left pocket, Link was almost ready to go as he then put on his cross to remind everyone of his beliefs. He then grabbed his keys and finally, turned off his lights as he left his apartment. Outside was a traditional Hyrule morning; people were greeting each other, loving each other, stealing from each other, even killing each other. What? That doesn't sound like a beautiful morning to you? Oh please, clearly someone has a misguided opinion!
Link didn't even bother with all of that this morning, he just walked by citizens and went to his car. Link's car, a 4th generation Epona wasn't built for speed, merely for transportation. Link however didn't mind so much since he liked taking his time, but this time, he was running late and so when he got in, he quickly put on his seatbelt, and started up car, making sure he wasn't pushing it too hard.
Soon after a couple of seconds, the car was up and ready for action. Link mouthed "thank you" and then drove as fast as he could to "Lon Lon Ranch". During the drive he tried to calm himself down by playing an album of "The Indigo-Go's", unfortunately as he kept looking at the clock, that wasn't going to well. Thankfully, by 8:59 he made it, though he was still about an hour late. Link quietly parked his car and quietly tiptoed to the stables until a hand grabbed his shoulder.
Link just groaned in frustration as he turned around to face the consequences. On the bright side, instead of turning around to face a balding, fat old man, his eyes instead saw a beautiful female in her mid 30s-about his age-who wore a white shirt and brown skirt and had a huge smirk on her face. Plus as luck would have it this girl was Link's girl, the very same one he talked to his mirror about for an hour or so.
However, before Link could explain himself the girl said,
"Talking at the mirror again?"
Link nervously laughed as he replied,
"Hi, boss."

A post about an often overlooked role that speech and expression play in human interactions.
For the past few months the internet has been a buzz with fights and arguments over the concept of Free Speech. Its been quite varied and heated. Recently Libcom.org was the site of a textual slapfight with another blog, and while I don’t really think the position they offered is useful or even consistent really it did get me thinking.
The blog at one point stated there is a difference between speech and acts, the example given was that it is justified and correct to fight   the British Union Fascists (BUF) because they represented a paramilitary threat (debatable) rather than just an ideological one. This isn’t a unique distinction liberals who favour maximum speech rights for all do often give a concession to physical defence against unambiguous violence. But the problem is that speech in itself can and often is a form of violence as well.
This happens in a number of ways but one of the most common is the tactic of outing someone. Outing is most commonly associated with queer individuals and Milo Yiannopoulos himself a recent lightning rod for this argument outed a Trans student at a University in Milwaukee, and is believed to have planned on doing the same to undocumented students on the campus of the University of Berkley.
Quote:
"When you have a room full of people that are just laughing at you as if you're some freak of nature, like you have some kind of mental illness—which is how he described me—it's like, I don't even know how to describe it, but it was way too much,"
Now in this particular case the harassment remained verbal, but it could very easily have had a darker ending, in 2015 21 people were murdered for being transgender in the United States.[1]
In March of this year there have been seven recorded murders of Transgender individuals recorded in the United States.[2]
There’s also been an increase in hate crimes recorded with Transgender people being disproportionately targeted.
Quote:
“In its 2014 report, the FBI recognized 1,248 victims of hate crimes targeted due to their sexual orientation (18.6 percent of all hate crimes reported) and 109 victims of hate crimes targeted due to their gender identity (1.8 percent of all hate crimes reported). The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP) reported that 2015 saw a 20% increase in the number of hate violence-related homicides of LGBTQ and HIV-affected people - noting that people of color and transgender people are disproportionally targeted. NCAVP reported that 62% of all LGBTQ homicide victims were people of color, and 54% of homicide victims were transgender women of color.”
[3]
But this isn’t a situation unique to LGBTQ people, on the contrary it’s a fairly common tactic that can be used against any group and often is.
In El Salvador Roberto D'Aubuisson (pictured) the leader of the extreme right wing ARENA party used to give televised speeches exposing people he claimed to be communist terrorists. In addition to naming them would show photographs of them so they could be recognized. Once outed if they didn’t escape (either abroad or to the underground) they would disappear. Their bodies would usually be found some days later showing signs of torture and mutilation.
Quote:
D'Aubuisson denounced union leaders, priests, academics, peasant organizers, students, professionals, government officials, and Christian Democrats. Among those he named was Archbishop Oscar Romero, whom he told, "You still have time to change your ways." He also attacked Mario Zamora, a leading Christian Democrat and member of the government who—like others identified in the broadcasts—was assassinated in a matter of weeks. “
[4]
Now obviously the Salvadoran civil war is an extreme case but it does demonstrate how speech can be used as a systemic tool of terror. And the only thing that makes it extreme is the circumstances, denouncing political enemies both real and imagined in the hopes or knowledge that fellow supporters will take care of the problem for you is very common.
This was how Mcarthyism and the Second Red Scare worked. Once someone was denounced as a suspected Red they were fair game for state harassment and investigations, employers would fire them and they could be publicly harassed and victimised. The once denounced the only way for a victim to save themselves from further attacks was to publicly cooperate with HUAC and denounce others.
And you don’t have to rely on state backing to pull of this off the Fascists have made use of this for decades.  First they have an annoying habit of describing everyone and everything in opposition to them or they just don’t like as Jewish. Now this tendency is often cited as justification to write them off as loons, but there is method to the madness. By denouncing someone as Jewish, or a Zionist or a Globalist they’re telling their base to ignore what their targets are saying.  And at the same time egging on local Fascists to attack them because they’re not just dissidents they’re actively part of the vast conspiracy against the nation or the white race etc.
For examples I’m spoiled for choice. Indeed so common is this practice that it actually found me. I uploaded a video by Johnathan Meades to youtube about architecture during the Nazi regime. Now I expected some backlash but I was caught by surprise how much vitriol a documentary on urban planning and statues would cause. Most of the negative comments were revolved around Meades being a Jew and a liar, or just a Jew with the implication being that as a Jew he’s lying. One commenter mentioned that Meades mother was Jewish, which she was though she had a deathbed conversion to Anglcanism and Meades himself is an outspoken atheist.
The reaction to this revelation caught me by surprise; it was like a smoking gun to these people. The fact that this man has a connection to Judaism was all the vindication they needed, the holocaust is a lie, because that smug liberal on the screen has a Jewish mother. Like I said is easy to dismiss these people, but unfortunately they are still quite capable of considerable organized violence.
The White Nationalist website Stormfront is suspected of being used as a platform for the occasional violent crime up to and including murder.[5]
In April 2013 Italian users of the site were arrested for publishing a list of names and encouraging violence against the people named.
Quote:
“The blacklist included: Turin Archbishop Cesare Nosiglia; Riccardo Pacifici, the President of the Jewish Community in Rome; Adel Smith, the President of the Muslim Union of Italy; the Mayor of Padua, Flavio Zanonto; several members of the judiciary; and journalist Gad Lerner, a Jew, and veteran TV talkshow host Maurizio Constanzo. According to media reports, those on the list were targeted because of their support for immigrants. Also listed were then House Speaker Gianfranco Fini and then Minister for International Cooperation and Integration Andrea Riccardi, who have both spoken out about citizenship rights for immigrant children.”
[6]
And it’s not just this one website there are others like Red Watch. Red Watch is a catalogue of supposed communists with identifying information. When I was 16 a friend of mine an inoffensive wooly liberal was listed on the site with his photo and then address. Yes someone put a teenager on a database used to target people.
Now nothing had happened to him thankfully at the time and he and his family moved out of the area, (though now that I think about it that could just mean someone attacked the house when other people were living there) though the potential consequences can be serious. In 2006 (the same year my friend told me he was on Red Watch) another person recorded on the site was stabbed.
Quote:
“What McFadden did not realise at the time was that he was not being punched but stabbed. "I think it went on for a couple of minutes before I managed to get the door closed. I turned round and my daughter was screaming. It was only then, as I put my hand to my face and felt the blood, that I realised what had happened."[
7]
Oh and my speculation on my friends danger wasn’t completely unfounded, far right types are active in my area, in 2013 a couple of them attacked the local Mosque with petrol bombs, and the Synagogue has reported severe vandalism on several occasions.[8]
Now there is more to this topic but it’s already getting quite long so I’ll wrap up. I can anticipate some of the counter argument, that these are all violent acts and should be opposed, but that’s the rub. Every example I’ve cited was started and required the use of speech. The only way to stop sites like stormfront and redwatch from exposing hundreds to potential assault and murder is to shut them down. The only way to stop a politician inciting attacks on the marginalized or a right wing zealot exposing queer and migrant students to harassment is to remove their platforms for example causing so much disruption that no venue will knowingly host such people. It isn’t sufficient to attack and neutralise the ones who carry out the attacks, more will take their place so long as the infrastructure remains intact. But we can’t take effective action against any of this without infringing on another’s freedoms of speech and expression.
