Max reminded you of summer. Sunny. Smiling. Warm. He was your vacation, your rest and your home. "I missed you," you mumbled leaning deeper into his touch. "How was filming?" he inquired, pouring you a glass of wine. "Hectic, but nothing compared to racing." you chuckled - pressing a kiss to his jaw.

This year - everything revolved around him. It revolved around his practices and how he could fight to win the WDC. He slumped on the sofa beside you - reaching for the blanket and allowing it to cover the lower part of your torso.

"What movie are we going to watch?" he reached for the popcorn in the coffee table. Excited for what kind of film you'd choose. Last time it was horror - but you were in a romantic mood. "Something romantic comedy, I kinda wanna sleep tonight." you chuckled, browsing through Netflix's large catalogue of movies.

A small exhale exits his mouth - the air conditioner was making the room colder. A perfect temperature for watching a movie. "I can't wait until we get to watch you in Netflix," he prophecized. "I have a feeling that it's going to be soon." you smiled.

"Yeah, we'll watch your movie next month right? Licorice Pizza, I've already told everyone to watch it." he boasted, showing you that he did his job spreading the good word on the grid. A small giggle escapes your mouth - seeing that dedicated smile on his face.

"I can't find anything - let's just rewatch black mirror." you sighed, pressing on the familiar poster. It wasn't like you were going to watch a single thing tonight.

Max steps out of his car - jumping with joy as he began to embrace his team. He hugged Christian first, then his best friend then one of his engineers - but he passed you. He didn't even look in your direction. That was the moment you knew. You weren't his priority.

You stared at the message that you sent out to him. It's been six hours. According to your friends he's currently partying in the redbull yacht - completely oblivious of your existence. "Did he seriously forget about you again? "He's probably overwhelmed with winning. I'm sure that he hasn't touched his phone since." you hid your phone inside your pocket. About to cry because of his neglect. He didn't even look at you. It was like - you disappeared into thin air.

"I don't care about him. Let's go party!" your friend screamed, pulling you inside one of the nightclubs. You shrug. It was probably the best thing to do. Anything to take your mind off him.

Carlos sits beside you - a cup of water at hand. "What are you doing here?" you inquire, surprised to see him in this kind of place. "I ditched the redbull party a few hours ago. Me and Lando were looking for you." he informed, taking a shot of his vodka.

A fake smile paints your lips - you completely forgot about how furious you felt about Max. "I decided to hang out with my friends," you lied - not wanting to talk shit about your boyfriend. "Ahh, I see. Do you want more alcohol? Lando will drive us home." he half-yelled due to the techno music blasting the room. "Yeah!" your best friend yelled in return, dancing to the tune with her upper body.

"Shit, are we gonna get that drunk?" you giggled, already seeing the drinks pile in your table. Soon enough Lando and Carlos were sitting beside you. Gossiping about F1 and other team's strategy. "Bottoms up!" Carlos suddenly yelled, prompting for all of you to take shots.

I think the most important thing about the made up Lance retirment rumour for next season is like, there is no one else for that seat.

Max is staying at RedBull, Mercedes is sticking with their drivers until Lewis retires, Charles is clearly committed to Ferrari and McLaren will also try to keep that line up for at least another 2 years.

And someone like Sainz or Gasly really isn't better than Lance which I am going to get tons of hate for but it's the truth. We saw at the beginning of the season how good Lance was and how he was close to Nando (before his streak of bad luck) meanwhile Gasly is currently easily beaten by Esteban and Sainz is clearly making himself out to be rather difficult to deal with.

So that in mind, who the fuck would they even go for? They clearly want to build around Lance or an even younger driver once Nando might leave and all the highest rated won't leave their team. While I am certain Oscar will get Nando's seat in a few years, he is clearly comfortable at McLaren and Norris would not go for Aston Martin.

And any F2 drivers/former drivers of the grid? Mick ain't getting that seat let's be for real, Drugovich took 3 season to win the title and even his winning season isn’t that impressive compare to others.(+ he got beaten by Zhou in the same car one year.) Vesti is tied to Mercedes, Pourchaire probably will not get there until he did 3 season in like a Haas, Doohan is tied to Alpine.

There's no better option than Lance on the current trip that willingly would leave their team. And the options available (Gasly, Ocon and Sainz) would all clearly clash with Nando or have clashed with Nando who Aston won't lose until he decides to retire.

This entire thing is based on some random bullshit Crofty said that headlines just love to run with eventhough there is no base for it. Aston have never publicly critized Lance to my knowledge and you can clearly see if you actually look at his individual races how they don't reflect his actual race craft and how he basically just had a bad luck streak during before Aston decide to fall behind on development.

And before anyone comments Alex, that man is clearly staying at Williams until a silly season in the next few years kicks off that might shovel the grid and give him an opportunity for a top seat.

Meanwhile Yuki is still at RedBull/AlphaTauri and probably won't consider leaving until the end of next season. Hell, if he proves himself this season and gets that RedBull boost, there is no way he is leaving that team dynamic in the next 2-3 years. And while he is doing amazing this season, he is still much more inexperienced and did not have a good start while Lance already set records in his rookie season and has podiums+ a pole to his name (No hate to Yuki! Just stating it. )

people can try and erase seb out of history all they want...fans, pundits...hell even team principles when it suits them...but he is cemented in the history books and will always be there..

Max is breaking all the records...one day another bright young thing will be the youngest world champion...but there will be no redbull story without seb...his name will always be there in the stats and the standings on all f1 books and in their records...the first to bring wins to a team, to a sister team...a breath of fresh air who showed passion and shoved his entire heart and soul into the sport he loved..

And then there's us...his fans...supporting him through highs and lows..teasing him about cringe choices(even calling him out if needed )and reminding everyone(including seb himself) how wonderful he is for the sport.

Oof, okay @ireadthensuetheauthors. Buckle up because I have thoughts. Also for anyone wondering this is being asked because of my Oscar fic, lover.

Thoughts under the cut

So, in said fic, I kind of brought up the perception of Max being called a teammate killer, despite Red Bull being the obvious issue, and in that fic parallels were drawn between Max/Red Bull and Lando/McLaren.

Now, let me preface by saying that I love Max and Lando. I love pretty much all the drivers on the grid:

I'm genuinely shocked however that Lando has not been labeled as a teammate killer or in the beginning of coming one. I don't know if it's because he's still somewhat new to f1 or it's just that while talented, he's not Max levels of talented.

But lets face it, Carlos left for Ferrari (on good terms which also is a difference between say Pierre and Alex leaving*cough* redbull),after two seasons. Daniel was forced out of McLaren after two seasons, despite being a more experienced and an arguably better driver despite the 2021/22 season being what they were.

Also, Carlos since leaving McLaren and joining Ferrari has been interesting at Ferrari. It's clear that he wants to be first driver (and lets face it as long as Charles is there, no one else will be first driver), but is also unable (unwilling?) to push the car for everything that it can give. Which while it does give him good results, makes him a bit disappointing compared to Charles who drivers the car to it's rails. He is able to get in the points and even on the podium sometimes, but it also took him a long time to ever get on the podium (4/5 seasons) and took him a bit longer to get a win (7/8 seasons).

Daniel joining McLaren was very good for the team. A proven good experienced driver who had 31 podiums under his belt and 7 wins. And in his first season with McLaren he proved that Mclaren could be a race winning car, by giving them their first win since 2012 (8/9 seasons!). And yes Lando was doing very well, in the points more often than Daniel and placing higher than him in the standings for both seasons, but Daniel was still performing well, even after admitting that he was having issues with the car.

The decision McLaren made to break contract with Daniel to sign a rookie, is something, it's a very interesting decision. And Oscar is showing a lot of promise and is doing well for his rookie season. But that's not the point.

The point is, McLaren is showing like Ferrari and Redbull they heavily favor a driver, and will as long as he's there. Lando, Max, and Charles, are always going to be the priority at McLaren, Redbull, and Ferrari respectively. And like I kind of stated in my fic, I do think that if somehow Oscar gets a win before Lando at McLaren, even earns more points than him or is just about equal to him, they still will favor Lando.

This is just my thoughts (some of them at least) on the whole thing. I don't mind some healthy discussion about this in the replies/reblogs of this post, but please be kind. On my other blog I already had to delete an f1 post due to some anon hate messages and I'm honestly just here to have fun and occasional real deep thoughts.

Also, Max is not a teammate killer neither is Lando. The teams themselves are the problems. And this post was more about the perception and potential parallels of them.

2013 Hungarian GP

We're officially in the second part of the season. It's very hot. Which probably won't help Mercedes with their tyre degradation issue.

Aha. Lotus has been subjected to a random flexi floor test and they failed it but then the stewards said okay actually it was a kerbs issue?... Right so basically the car porpoised because of the kerb and that's why it seemed like it was flexing. Mmmh. 🤔

Quali report. The Redbulls seemed in control, but Webber had an electronics problem in Q1 then his KERS failed in Q2. He's 10th. Grosjean seemed really quick and he outqualified Raikkonen for the second time this season. He's 3rd. Seb was very quick but Lewis got on pole to the general surprise. Himself included. On the radio we hear Bono tell him "great job there Lewis, er, that's P1." And Lewis answers : "the pole?!" – "yeah! We're as surprised as you, mate." That's his 30th. Rosberg is 4th, Alonso 5th, Raikkonen 6th, Massa 7th, Ricciardo 8th, Perez 9th.

During the drivers' parade, Natalie Pinkham asks if it's gonna be a good day.

Lewis is not confident. He says pole is the best place to start but it's so hot today… he's gonna give everything, fingers crossed. She asks if he feels like it's going into the unknown given how little they know about the new tyres and with this temperature… he says it's definitely harder for them because the others were able to test the new tyres for three days (remember : they got suspended from the young drivers test because of the Barcelona Pirelli testing they did, which was against the regulations). They have a slight advantage on them but he hopes it doesn't come into play today. He reiterates he's surprised to be on pole given how good a lap Seb did, and he felt like he didn't do such a great lap.

Let's talk about his pole. We get a nice little montage of his previous poles. He's now ahead of Fangio in the record sheet of pole sitters. Brundle says he seemed more surprised than anybody else about it. He says it honestly didn't feel like a spectacular lap. He admits though he didn't make any mistakes but he thinks he could have found more time. Here ya go he starts explaining his lap like last time I don't understand anything about it but it's okay, I just enjoy how animated he gets talking about stuff he likes.

He says when he crossed the line he was told he was in the front but he thought people were coming behind him like Seb who would get ahead so he said "are you sure?" and then he started hearing the team celebrate in the background. Cute!

Martin says though that his reaction seems to say he'd be happy to lead at the end of the formation lap. "You're not expecting to win the race, are you?" he says no. He's at the point, he says, but interrupts himself. Firstly, at the beginning of the season, he never expected to have such a good car and he's grateful to be on pole and it's down to the great job they're doing at the factory. However, the tyres overheat and melt. The car is so heavy at the beginning of the race it doesn't feel like it's beneath you and it’s only later, when it gets lighter, that it starts to get some grip, but by then it's too late, you've lost too much time. 

Brundle says his fans are saying that if he was given a car with rear tyres that stayed with him, he'd disappear in the distance. He says there's no doubt in his mind they could win if they solved their tyre issue. No doubt in his mind they can beat Sebastian, and Fernando, and Raikkonen, and Grosjean. They just have to fix that. He says it's a shame, then smiles, and says they have such a good car but the tyres play such a big part. He'd love to be able to have a wheel to wheel race with Sebastian [this race].

(He's frustrated by something that's not in his control again. At McLaren it was the motivation of the rest of the team. Now it's Pirelli's tyres. But as we said in the last race review : they should rather fix the car than hope for better tyres, because the car is in their hands actually, when the tyres are not.)

"Who knows, maybe we'll be surprised" 

Oh. The cars are headed to the grid and Nico is told they need to get him back into the garage. It's because Lewis' car has an issue? I'm confused. 

The track is 48°C…

They're rolling Rosberg back to the grid. Alonso too. They're quite late. And Massa now. What's happening. Let's hear from Ted. Actually Rosberg reported a weird feeling with the car on his way to the grid and that's why they got him back into the garage. They worked on the front suspension. Now they're on the grid still checking it. His engineer says the car is okay though. Lewis doesn't have any issues with his own car. 

Alright it's time. 

Formation lap 

Lewis is told "engine cooling whenever you can (twice) and now you need to back up the grid".

And they're racing! 

Lewis gets a good start, as does Rosberg who's pretty much level with Grosjean, Seb, the Ferraris and Raikkonen into the straight. Into turn 1, he falls behind Seb and Grosjean who are fighting over P2. It's Lewis, Seb, Grosjean, Rosberg. But the Ferraris catch them and now Alonso is already beside Grosjean. He can't make it stick but he's ahead of Rosberg who is now fighting Massa. Rosberg goes wide! Someone locks up and it's a close call for Rosberg, Massa and Raikkonen. CONTACT! Massa touched Rosberg who loses a piece of front wing and goes off track. He rejoins but he lost many places now. At the end of the first lap, Lewis has a 1.1 second lead over Seb. Then we have Grosjean, Alonso, Massa, Raikkonen, Webber, Jenson, Ricciardo and Perez in the top 10. Rosberg down in P12. At the end of lap 2, Seb is half a second away. The offensive is about to start. A couple of laps later it's back to 0.8 but it's going to get complicated with the DRS on top of it. Now it's rather Grosjean attacking Seb? Lewis is pulling away a bit. Lewis pits and he's out in 8th. It's lap 10.

Rosberg also pits. Lewis overtakes Jenson for P7, it's good he didn't get held up for too long. Lewis is much quicker than Seb who also pits. Oooooh. Yes good, Lewis is still ahead! Seb is behind Jenson which might slow him down a bit. Alonso pits and someone else must also have done so because Lewis is up in P5 now. P4. Grosjean pits from the lead. Raikkonen as well. They're behind. Now it's Webber in the lead having not pitted yet. Lewis P2. Seb still behind Jenson. He's being held up. Grosjean is closing on him too. Now Seb is told to cool the car and he answers to check the front wing. There must have been some contact. There's damage indeed. Grosjean has DRS but it’s not enough! Seb defends so well. Jenson has pulled away a bit. Lewis has pulled away a lot. Alonso however is now closing on that fight. Careful. It's only lap 20.

Lewis is now closing on Webber who hasn't stopped yet, that's how good his pace is right now. There's almost 10 seconds to Jenson now. Webber finally pits, Lewis is back in the lead. Webber is out behind Alonso. Seb overtakes Jenson! Grosjean tries as well but they touch, he's ahead but there's gonna be an issue there. Alonso overtakes Jenson too. Seb has 13 seconds to go to Lewis. Jenson pits. Grosjean pits, he's under investigation. Webber is closing on Alonso who's now P3. Lewis answers to Seb's charge by setting the fastest lap of the race. Now it's Grosjean who sets the fastest lap as he's fighting Massa for P6. It's done. I'm pretty sure they touched? 

It's lap 30. Seb is inching closer to Lewis, but the gap is still 12 seconds. And Jenson also overtakes Massa. Lewis pits from the lead, it's a very good stop. He's out in fourth behind Webber. Massa also comes in from 8th. Grosjean is under investigation again for leaving the track. Oooh Lewis almost passed Webber. Yes gooo! P3! Coming for Alonso. Gogogogo. Alonso pits. P2, and Seb is also in the pits so back in the lead! Let's go! And Seb is again behind Jenson! Lewis sets the fastest lap. We're halfway through! 

Grosjean gets a drive-through penalty. The collision will be investigated after the race. Seb overtook Jenson already. Oh, Webber is in Lewis’ DRS zone. Jenson pits. Seb sets the fastest lap. Webber has fallen back a tad. Hulkenberg gets a penalty for speeding in the pitlane. Grosjean is closing on Alonso over P5. And we're on lap 40.

I mean there's stuff happening in this race so it's cool but damn 70 laps is a lot. 

Raikkonen pits from P3, out in P6. Let's see. Lewis is now 3 seconds ahead of Webber. Seb is 12 seconds behind them and Alonso 11 seconds down on him, with Grosjean still not far behind. Bottas DNF, DRS disabled. Webber pits, he's out behind Seb now. Grosjean pits. Lewis is still 15 seconds ahead. Alonso pits. Grosjean is fighting Jenson for P6. 

On lap 50, it's done, while Lewis pits for the last time. Good stop. Oooooh no! Webber is ahead! Fuck! But Lewis attacks and Webber has to go off track to avoid contact, he joins back in front… no. He joined back behind Lewis. Mmmh. I don't know what to think. Well. With the replay I'd say Lewis had the line, Webber should have lifted up but we'll see if the stewards agree or if I'm biased. The gap to Seb is 7 seconds. Crofty says sometimes you need a bit of luck to win. I'd say Lewis is making his own luck there, by pushing the limit. It's arguable. Oh. Seb pits. He locked up slowing down for the pitlane. Lewis is back in the lead! But the gap to Webber in P2 is only 2.3 seconds. Seb is out behind Raikkonen, in P4. He sets the fastest lap. Bono asks Lewis to make some changes on the steering wheel but he says he's happy with the car at the moment. The gap is up to 3.5 seconds. Webber pits. 

It's the final 10 laps now. Lewis is told to manage the pace, and Ted says it's because they're worried about the engine overheating. The gap to Raikkonen, currently P2, is 11 seconds anyway. He can slow down a little bit surely. 9 laps. Seb is closing to Raikkonen. 8 laps. 7 laps. Webber is also gaining on Seb, but that gap is 8.4 seconds. 6 laps. Seb attacks Raikkonen! But he's not quite there yet. Yellow flags? OH MY GOD oh. Okay so Rosberg DNF but I thought it was Lewis it scared me lol. They really need to sort the yellow helmets out my god. 5 laps to go. Yeah Rosberg's engine blew up like whoever it was in the last race? White smoke, fire. We were just talking about engines overheating, weren't we? Ted says the Mercedes pit wall is extremely nervous now. I am too. 4 laps to go. Both Redbulls are told "22 fail". 3 laps. Seb attacks Raikkonen again but he's struggling with grip. He complains about Raikkonen's defense but there was nothing wrong with it. He wasn't ahead and there was enough room. 2 laps remaining. Come on. Final lap. Seb is not giving up on Raikkonen but he keeps locking up. 

It's the end of the race! 

LEWIS WINS HIS FIRST MERCEDES WIN! Raikkonen immediately stops his car. Seb is third. 

OH MY GOD I'm gonna cry, it's Bono's first "get in there Lewis" like literally I'm emotional rn. Lewis thanks everybody for the hard work. 

Ted is with Niki. "He won the race because he drove sensationally. All the passing he did was his job. He's really the best today, that I've ever seen in my life. The way he passed people, and the way he really got going." Hah, he's about as emotional as I am about this. I love it.

Niki says they weren't worried about overheating but he doesn't think they were as quick as the Redbull. "But Lewis really made it all up, especially the way he passed people, he was outstanding." 

He was, damn. What a flawless race. Now it's really starting to look like the Lewis I know.

The team hugs him and pats him 💜 he's so happy 🥺

He already hugged him outside but once he takes his helmet off in the cool down room he hugs Brawn again. "Thank you so much, " he says. Then he shakes Raikkonen's hand. Then Seb arrives and he shakes his hand. "Good job!" he tells him.

Raikkonen asks him "What happened to you?" and then something else. Seb says "No, I got stuck behind Jenson and damaged my front wing." Lewis is chugging water.

The Mercedes team is READY. We see them outside waiting for the podium. One of them tells the other "Here we goooo…" and they start clapping slowly "Waaaiiit…" They have huge smiles on their faces. They clap, they're beaming. Here they come. Imagine seeing your guy up there, that must be so great.

Brundle tells Lewis that when they talked the night before he had a hard time believing he was on pole and he didn't think he'd win. How does it feel now? He says it's an incredible feeling. He thanks all the fans for turning up. He and his team worked a lot last night and they really didn't know it would go that well. The last 20 laps were just managing the tyres and cruising.

Brundle says there were two key moments. When he overtook Jenson and then when he passed Webber. Lewis says "I think you can tell I was hungry today". He needed to get past these people and usually he gets stuck in traffic and today he was going for every move he had.

After the two others' interviews we go back to Lewis. Brundle asks how today compares to his other victories. Lewis says it's probably one of the most important wins of his career. Moving to a new team and winning for them is a real privilege. The guys did an exceptional job and he's so glad he can be part of the team. He couldn't be happier and he hopes there's many more to come (oh honey if only you knew… I'm gonna cry istg. This is ridiculous.) He says for the WDC (which theoretically he could still get at this point), they need to work very hard, and hope the tyre issue is solved. But if they can come here and make their tyres last they should be able to do so anywhere, so fingers crossed.

Brawn and Toto are talking with the journalists and Brawn says surely Lewis was a bit frustrated that Nico won twice and he hadn't yet but he didn't see much change in Lewis, he's just getting more and more familiar with the team and with his engineers, and more relaxed. His engineers are having their photos taken with the trophy in the background. It's so cute. 

Later on, we see them getting ready for the team photo. They make sure Bono is at the front. He has become so much more muscular since then lol. Toto is sitting cross-legged on the ground and Nico is there and they're all waiting for Lewis. He's taking his time lol. Brawn arrives. Everybody goes "aaaaaah!" and claps. He sits down on the ground between Toto and Bono. Lewis is still not there. 

The journalists are talking about him in the meantime saying what an outstanding job he did and praising the way he's able to feel the machine rather than have the engineers tell him about it. Anthony says you can hear over the radio how different Nico and him are, Nico being a "very technical guy" who "understands every nut and bolt on the car" whether Lewis is "a true fighter". (I think since then Lewis has become somewhat of a technical guy as well. I wonder when that happened. We will see.) 

Lewis is still nowhere to be found. They've been sitting here for ages now lol. Ah we hear he's coming? Someone got here but it was Paddy Lowe. Now there's a Marussia truck coming through the pitlane lol. Here he is!

He's applauded, he shakes many peoples’ hands, finds a spot next to Nico, sets down the trophy in front of them and touches his arm. Nico pats his knee.

They're finally taking that photo. Lewis gets up and out of the way immediately as they spray champagne. The journalists jump on him for more questions. He says again it’s all down to the team and their incredible job. They worked so hard on the car and the pit stops and are doing an exceptional job and he's just grateful to them. The journalist says he's been through a lot off track in the last few weeks (?) and does it make it even more special that he was able to do what he does best? He gets a bit emotional I think. He speaks more slowly, in less automatic answers. He says he's come here, "I don't know if you've seen", in a completely different headspace. He says it's been one of the toughest weeks to focus on his job (wtf happened?!) but clearly with a pole and a win you can see he's not distracted. Oh god. He says his family has been supporting him a lot, and his voice shakes like I've never heard before. He gets choked up and doesn't finish his sentence.

He does a thing he rarely does while the journalist praises him elegantly to move on from that, which is crossing his arms. And actually, it's not even that, it's more that he's holding himself. Someone comforts this boy please.

The journalist asks about the move on Webber which was phenomenal. He brightens up immediately and opens his arms again.

"I pulled it off twice!" he says excitedly. "I hope he's cool about it, he was very fair." he says he's a great racer and he's glad he got to battle him, especially in his last season. But he needed to pull these moves off, he couldn't get held up. "But who would've thought our tyres would last today?"

The journalist asks if it really surprised them, and talks about the orders he got at the end to lift up a bit and Nico's engine failure. Clearly there were overheating problems but the tyres were as good as anyone's. Lewis says "the tyres were a dream today, yeah!"

Post-race, Grosjean received a 20 second penalty for colliding with Jenson which didn't change anything because Jenson was over 20 seconds behind him in the standings.

Also Ferrari received a 15'000€ fine because Alonso activated his DRS 3 times without being within 1 second of the car in front. They had forgotten to switch the DRS from pre-race settings to race settings. As soon as they noticed, they told him to only use it when they told him to. It resulted in him actually using it less than he could have, which explains why he didn’t get a time penalty.

I tried to find out what had happened that made Lewis emotional there : he split up with Nicole in early July. After the German GP he said about it "I wear my heart on my sleeve and it is hard to hide my emotions. I try my hardest to be positive. I am going through a hard time at the moment. I have lost someone special in my life and my world has been turned upside down. I am trying to pull my stuff together and keep my head up which is hard to do." Aaaand… apparently he had been planning to propose to her. Anyway. That's it for the gossip.

I’m new to actively following F1. Being a POC from the UK Hamilton has always been my guy but I do love Charles as well considering Ferrari has always been my team. I missed most of what happened last year minus the last race but so I’m not sure what MV and or his team did to Lewis other than get a fraudulent championship win. Would you mind explaining what happened or pointing me in a direction I can find out? I’ve not ever been a fan of MV, he seems far to arrogant and egotistical for my liking but I never paid too much attention to him but reading a bit of what is said I feel like I missed a lot which would confirm my judgement of him?

So sorry that the last race was your more active experience of f1, truly a low point in this sport.

About your ask, the main issue is redbull top management, so Christian Horner and Helmut Marko. They always had back handed compliment for Lewis and Mercedes, but things got really bad at Silverstone after Lewis and Max crash, Horner was going around the paddock talking about how Lewis wanted to kill Max, leaning way too harder on the big bad scary black man stereotype. This obviously fueled so much hate towards Lewis from rb fans, and most of the comments were filled with slurs, many social platforms had to intervene and start cancelling comments. This kept escalating over the whole season, some mv fans even planned to throw tomatoes at Lewis at Spa. After Silverstone the GPDA issued a statement about how they don't condone the racial abuse Lewis had to suffer after the british gp, i think all drivers (or most of them) reposted it (some add it a little personal note too) but Max stayed silent on the matter, even when the abuse was coming mainly from his fanbase. Then we had J*s Verstappen (max's father) accusing Angela of handing Lewis illicit substances in the paddock when she was passing him a hair elastic, so more racial connotations in their accusations. Helmut also made racially charged comments toward other rb affiliated drivers, he said Yuki Tsunoda was not your typical calm and docile asian and this year when Checo said he was scared because of the missile attacks in Jeddah Helmut said that he shouldn't because being mexican this should be the norm for him. Also at all the races Lewis was the only driver boo-ed (exept in Brazil bless them) especially from rb/max supporters. And after all of this, they had the audacity to say oh it's nice to see Lewis taking the loss of the championship with such grace, like he could afford to look angry. Also Max himself isn't new to using slurs, see with Lance Stroll. But mostly he enables this behaviour from his team and from his fans, which makes him no better than them.

And with this new season, rb top people are going around saying how everything is so respectful between Charles and Max, like last year the toxicity didn't come from their side, but you know Charles is a white guy so

I don't understand what these people smoke. I am pretty sure 98% of these people weren't around before 2019. They didn't see how Lh used to talk about Seb and Ferrari, let alone they know about the RedBull Seb and how Lh used to say "boring, boring, boring, Seb's killing the sports, it is the car, his car is doing it in his stead". And also all the times he insuniated Ferrari is cheating/using team orders/Seb is winning only because Kimi lets him... All those times he'd try to undermine Seb's success and cry when things wouldn't go his way but Seb's way...

If it was really the car for Seb, then the same shit is true for his 2017/2018/2019/2020 titles because he had the absolutely dominant and reliable car and he just cruised around. If Seb's RedBull wins killed the sports, so did his wins since 2017. But when it comes to him, it is all due to his godly talent and his own hard work.

Sheesh.... Look thru British press after the races Seb won, especially during his Ferrari stint. See how Lh always had to add his two cents which were always undermining Seb's win somehow. Unpopular opinions (maybe):

RedBull is in one of the worst situations with their current line up because Perez is not performing well enough and they have discredit Yuki so much that putting him alongside Max would seem like hypocrisy yet there's no one else besides an outsider that could step up since their juniors simply aren't good enough yet. Also, none of their juniors truly show the promises in my mind (I don't care about Lawson and after everything that happened will not) that people like Pierre or Alex did.

Alpine should 100% take Mick over Pierre.

Haas would be a fool if they replaced Mick willingly (meaning they kick him.) Add to that the silly rumours of Giovinazzi replacing him (I don't dislike Gio but absolutely not.)

To be honest I think as bad as Nicky might be to some that Seargant isn't ready yet for F1. I also do not want to see DeVries in F1, I think it's just simply to late for that and would be one of the worst moves (from a competitive championship where he had a car to win it to the backmarker in F1.)

McLaren is going to clash and burn next year. However signing Piastri at least performance wise was a good decisions (one that Alpine should have made from the get go but alas.) They simply can not have Norris and Piastri because of their potential to both be the Nr. 1 and team leader.

Aston Martin actually has a driver line up that overs the most potential for the next season (any confirmed one that is different to the one the year prior.)

Drugovich should get a seat above everyone else just from talent alone but he probably will never make the F1 cut since he isn't in any junior team to my knowledge.

Ricciardo time to leave might have been to soon but ignoring how the decision was made, you can't argue against the fact that it was the right decision. He has had the worst season by far compared to his teammate and no one can argue that. Does that mean he isn't talented? No. Is it arguable that of all the drivers he has had the most inconsistent career on the current grid? Yes. Do I think he will return? Possible. Do I think he should? No, not really to be honest. Even if he still has potential in him, it will never truly show because he will never again get into a top team where he has the right machinery and there are in my opinion also more deserving drivers for a mid field car. Besides, with all the young drivers in the junior categories and the current grid, would you really choose him after the dreadful season?

I think both Perez and Ricciardo are in a position where they can just lose. Neither will ever be a top driver in a top team and neither is really getting a seat anywhere once they leave. They both will never win a championship and in Ricciardo's place there now also is a reputation tied to him. Perez still has last season but if this season continues to go worse where he clearly lacks the pace (second drivers curse someone is not at all talked about with him eventhough arguably out of everyone he is the most shocking being so of pace) that will quickly be forgotten and not used to defend him. Unlike Bottas who had an awful last year at Mercedes but flourished at Alfa Romeo because (in my opinion) he found his love and joy in racing again regardless of the results neither of the drivers mentioned above will be satisfied with such a move. There aren't any top team options so there's really just leaving since I don't see any way they come back a year later unless some team needs a more experienced driver and they desperately want a seat. Their time in comparison to someone like Alonso and Lewis is running out. I use Lewis and Alonso because they are the oldest but they both have so much to give (whether I like Alonso or not he clearly still delivers great results and Lewis I would even argue is more determined then ever.) However they also have nothing to prove in comparison to Daniel or Perez. They have won their WDCs and they have shown their talent/brilliance again and again. If they left tomorrow nothing would change those facts.
