QSMP Awards 2024 Summarized

-The audio was scuffed for the first half. I don't mean a little crispy. I don't mean with a slight echo. It was fucked in every way imaginable. The audio sounded like it was going through a blender. Then it kept getting too loud, then too quiet (so much so we couldn't hear), all while being way too crispy. Charlie Slimecicle monologued to the audience while the team was trying to fix it but since the audio was both too crispy and too quiet we couldn't actually understand anything he was saying. This carried on for about 7 minutes with him holding two microphones, neither of which was working, before the stream crashed (again)

-All the staff are apparently Cucurucho, with one of them being a "main Cucurucho"

-Missa wore a "Quackity my beloved" shirt. I could not explain to you what the blazer over it was supposed to be.

-Everyone else at the ceremony was shown through discord call. I'm convinced Charlie has never seen German or Lenay's faces cause he did not know it was them until Quackity said their names

-The screen was supposed to switch between showing all the people on the discord and it kept switching between the same four people. If I have to hear Q, Charlie and Missa chant "Foolish" or "Pol" ever again-

-Mariana showed up and Charlie immediately went into bitter ex mode. He also hit on Mariana. Multiple times.

-We got a patented Ironmouse "coño" and chat lost their shit over Luzu existing, as expected

-Mariana looked like Michael Jackson, Bad's background could've been the set of Breaking Bad, Roier had a ski mask, lots of people learned what Lenay, German and Vegetta's looked like for the first time, and Mike had a kawaii filter

-Somehow Bad didn't even get nominated for Best Cucurucho Jumpscare, showing that even non-red carpet events can produce award snubs (congrats to Bagi!)

-Though I yearned for Maximus getting nominated for his Eh Vegetta prank, we all knew the win had to go to Vegetta for the mines

-The audio eventually became bearable but the echo never fully left. At some point there were like three or four overlaps of Vegetta giving his acceptance speech

-Acau won for Best Death from getting killed by an enderman (in my heart Foolish's accidental death by Pomme's sniper that got him eliminated from the elections won, but we did get Quackity dying to a fly as a nom so I feel complete. Also congrats to Acau!)

-The Qsmp shop is officially open! We got eggie merch :]

-Quackity forgot to roll clips for the Best Purgatory 2 Moment nominees and almost read out the winner before we got the montage (Wuant won! It was the clip of him being told he lost and he accidentally did a flip. They weren't able to get the acceptance speech on stream so we saw it from Quackity's phone)

-Funniest QSMP Moment nominees were all fucking hilarious, its hard to pick just one but Maxo winning for when he respawned after a lore-heavy moment in Pierre's bed to his own moans being remixed into a song absolutely deserved the win

-Saddest QSMP Moment was unnecessary and the admins will be hearing from my lawyers for making me relive Dapper's first lost life, Dia de los Muertos and the end of Purgatory 1 (Jaiden and Roier saying bye to Bobby won, Roier changed his screen to black and white and held up what looked like a mini Cucurucho being used as a cross)

-Best QSMP Original Song was played prematurely when the category was Best Language Exchange, and we got a spoiler for the winner (YD and Hugo's exchange won and YD's audio was muted so we just saw her Vtuber model getting excited)

-The aforementioned Best Qsmp Original Song had Gordinho Gostosinho looping aggressively over Charlie singing the Juanaflippa song, which I hope to god gets clipped cause it was hilarious (I'm glad the Roier and Cucurucho rap got nominated). Charlie was very confused why they had him announce his own win.

-Best PVP unsurprisingly went to Etoiles for his colosseum Code fight, after all he is the Best🔥 (the other noms were great too, we had Philza vs Tubbo in Purgatory, Bad and Maxo eliminating El Quackity from the elections, and a cute sparring session between Pac and Richas)

-Best Qsmp Fails went to Fit for that time Pac's internet cut out during their date (of course he bragged about his Brasilian boyfriend after learning he won for best loser)(also if it was up to me Quackity's fly deaths would've been added to this category just sayin')

-The audio problems were revealed to have been roleplay the entire time. Yep. All part of the lore.

-Speaking of, most of the winners who were in the discord call could not be heard so they had to give speeches through Quackity holding his phone up to the mic

-Best Roleplayer went to Roier for his Doied arc (the screen prematurely showed him before they could read the announcement, and his speech was him kissing the camera)

-Worst Server House went to Mariana accompanied with the classic clip of him reacting to the admins roasting his started base; Mariana was part of the discord call but left at some point so he couldn't give a speech, to which Charlie jumped on the opportunity to roast his absence like a shark smelling blood (they rightfully nominated Quackity for his clip of Acau reacting to his failure of a starter house, and apparently Carre's base is just his bed on a dirt plot)

-Most Iconic Clip went to Pac for stealing the Qsmp Logo (the other lovely noms included Foolish and co. accidentally closing their house door after a creeper came in an attempt to shut it out, and Tina reacting to a mob giving Felps a blowjob)

-The Most Bankrupt Islander went to Niki for being broke, we stan (during the nom montage we got a passa tudo mention)

-The Creator Who Spent the Most Time on the Server Award went to Bad, which was shocking to no one, although they did use his Barbie Girl clip for the nom montage (they also used Fit wearing a wig for his clip)

-The Qsmp cake for the one year anniversary had the text "FELICIDADES ALBERTO". We do not know who Alberto is. Pol was losing it.

-Tubbo won for The Creator With the Most Deaths (106), while The Creator With Fewest Deaths went to Philza (he only had 1!). Philza was able to be heard through stream but the hosts didn't know this so they would hear him from Quackity's phone and repeat what he was saying even though we could hear him

-Everytime the camera cut back to the hosts Charlie, Quackity and Missa had more cake on their faces

-Most Distance Traveled (in Minecraft) went to Etoiles (6,000+ km jfc)

-Creator With the Most Mob Kills went to Pierre (162,960 mob kills. what the fuck.)

-They accidentally read the award for Creator With the Most Damage Taken (Foolish) during the Best Builder announcement, confusing the shit out of everyone, especially cause the screen showed Mike instead of Foolish. I am still unclear who won Best Builder

-Creator With the Most Blocks Placed went to Mike!!! (MIKE WIN VAMBORAAAAAAAAAAA🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷)

-We had to uncomfortably sit through Missa feeding Charlie cake (and just Charlie in general)

-There was an In Memorium segment of the passed eggs (Quackity shat on a grieiving Charlie for Flippa only lasting 11 days, but in Charlie's words, "to you it was 11 days; to her it was a lifetime"). Charlie commentated and had nothing to say about Trump because he didn't know jack shit about Trump (though he did make a wall joke which is exactly what Maxo would have wanted godbless🙏)

-The stream ended with the discord people saying goodbye, while Roier was holding up the mini Cucuruchos and didn't move the entire time. I know he wasn't frozen because he blinked.

-Maxo sent in his acceptance speech video last minute and Quackity hyped it up as a mysterious final entry but Charlie guessed it was Maxo and spoiled it on accident

-Speaking of, Maxo's entry was him walking around heaven looking for Trump </3

-Charlie gave a heartfelt speech about the people he met through the Qsmp, all while looking like ate out frosty the snowman <3. Missa simpy thanked Alberto (we still do not know who Alberto is)

-Tubbo wasn't present in the discord call because he thought him streaming meant he couldn't join. After the stream Quackity called and Tubbo realized he was allowed to join the whole time

-We ended on a montage of various moments, with a message of excitement looking forward to the next year!

What's ur fav piece of trivia for every* character?

my favorite trivia for characters is usually just whatever i think is funniest so just keep that in mind. that's not always the case but you might see it become a pattern. oh the other thing is whatever is most soul-crushing so yeah.

Ichika - either the fact her name comes from how her parents met (because i think it's really sweet) or that she accidentally discovered miku when she was watching videos on her dad's tablet and opened a recording of a miku concert

Saki - she used to listen to the song Time Machine when she was in hospital (at Ichika's recommendation) to remind her of family and friends. It's the in-universe reason why she is featured on the cover. This is actually one of my favorite facts in the game overall.

Honami - she is surprisingly good at flirting

Shiho - not one I've posted before, but in Run! Sports Festival! she couldn't bring herself to throw any of the balls in the ball toss because they had cute animal designs on them

Minori - she once passed out because Haruka wished her happy birthday.

Haruka - she likes penguins because she thinks the way they waddle is cute and she likes how round a lot of penguin merch is

Emu - she's very good at replicating cartoon faces. i like this one because it raises a few questions about whether the L2Ds are still exaggerated or if she just looks like that and no one questions that she actually has a cartoon face. what if project sekai ends with them all becoming self-aware.

Nene - either the fact that she thinks the forest has good graphics or that she called rui's mom "auntie" when she was younger because i think it's cute.

Rui - i like a good reference and i appreciate that he sometimes references famous people and media.

Kanade - she's left handed. i also like that her family name was made up specifically to contrast with the rest of N25.

Mafuyu - either that it's shown one time that she can see ghosts and then it's never brought up or referenced again, or that the "mom's cooking" listed as her favorite food might refer to the bunny-shaped apple slices her mother would make for her when she was a kid. i also like the detail that her eyes being two-tone is because she inherited the eye colors of both her parents.

Ena - twitter user. also despite loving cheesecake, she doesn't like cheese. girl what the hell.

Mizuki - they started out editing by making AMVs for a magical girl anime they liked. Amia comes from the name of a character from that anime. also did you know they put ice cubes in noodles because of their sensitive tongue. ice cubes.

It feels like Jensen wasn't even trying and this was all for Misha. Could Jensen have had a say in this scene - Bobo and Misha cooked this scene up months before Jensen found out. My guess for keeping Jensen in the dark was b/c they knew that he would never agree to do the scene as written. And while they kept Jensen in the dark, they let Misha's merch co. Stands know. The funniest reactions to 15x18 on tumblr by people who aren't familiar with Supernatural thought Jensen and Misha filmed their scenes separately and on different days, because that's how awkward the scene looked.

Actors generally have little to no say in the scenes they're filming. Personally, I have serious doubts over the stories peddled by Misha that he and Berens concocted this scene months in advance. If you believe Misha that the scene was supposed to read as romantic, then why no build up for 8 months? Because there was no lead up to a fake romantic confession ending because there never was a Master Plan. According to the script, Cas was not outed as gay, he’s finally learned self-acceptance because he doesn't need Dean's validation, and that made him happy. Only Misha pretended there is some romantic secret code in the dialogue because he had merchs to sell, as you noted in the Stand's tweet.

What I think actually happened was Misha figured out Castiel was going to die before the finale. J2 knew the finale before season 15 started filming and they told Misha that Castiel wasn't in the finale. Misha put 2 and 2 together and had that necklace merch made in advance, regardless the outcome of 15x18. Stand can tweet whatever the hell they want once the episode aired and they chose "you're only gay once". Notice the necklace does not directly reference the character or the show, and not just because they are not allowed to sell actual SPN merchs. The necklace is for general use, anybody outside of SPN would think it's just a generic V-day necklace. Misha just "retconned" it for 15x18.

As for Jensen's acting, the script specifically said, "Dean can't reciprocate, but Castiel doesn't need him to" and Jensen did what he was told to according to the script. As you noted, "Jensen wasn't even trying and this was all for Misha."

This was Castiel's grand moment, his final moment before he is killed off. It was supposed to be all about him, and Dean was supposed to be just a supportive spectator. Jensen's acting has always been dependent on a good screen partner playing an interesting character.  The problem here is Castiel ceased to be an interesting character after season 6, which is why the Dean & Cas scenes became boring and pointless, and then became really awkward in 15x18.

uhhh, how much time do you have?

i need to put this under a read more, because i ended up finding one scene per book on average

told you that this series is actually a comedy

1) that time when drizzt thought that three lighting bolts aimed directly at his face were just a friendly sparring session, and then immediately got distracted and forgot all about that attempted assassination because he saw a cat

2) drizzt and zaknafein both going "oh no, he is lost to the evil ways of our people, i would do the world a service by killing him" at each other, but not doing anything about it

3) the first thing we ever learn about jarlaxle being that he has special gay pride merch that is enchanted so you can still see that it's supposed to be a rainbow even in complete darkness

4) that one human wizard drizzt ran into in the middle of the underdark. just. that wizard's entire existence. why does he have a german accent. why does he keep shooting lightning bolts out of his tower when they keep being reflected back at him. rip brister fendlestick, you were only in that one scene, but i miss you every day

5) the mindflayers going "fwoop!" when they shoot a blast of brain melting energy at you

6) drizzt: who are you? you are not my father! zombie!zaknafein: no, i am your… mother!

I wanted to see your LCSYS take on the differences in the prisoners' uniforms in the Milgram Hallucination event:

The outfits all zip in the front, even those that wouldn't in the art. Shugo wears a coat instead of a cape. Ryota doesn't have half of his uniform tucked in. Minami is wearing a skirt under her costume. (Hi Nott!) Maybe I missed some.

Hmm, that's a neat detail! Because presumably they'd have their uniforms on hand, and they should just wear those. The fact that they had to create new ones leads to a few possibilities: 1. Milgram didn't realize what a hit the songs would be, and figured they wouldn't need these random straightjackets anymore. They got rid of them after the experiment, 2. Milgram gave the prisoners their uniforms to keep and they're the ones that threw them out, not caring to remember their life of restraints, or 3. Milgram does actually face some real-world consequences for being incredibly shady, and all their possessions are currently being investigated by the government. I personally think option 3 is funniest, and enjoy picturing Jackalope planning a live concert and selling merch while simultaneously trying to cover up a huge potential scandal/legal battle behind the scenes asdfsdf.

Amane's case is slightly different, since hers has to do with her own clothes. I like to think it'd be a sign of her leaving her old life behind and starting over. When Mahiru takes her in, (with Amane's permission,) she completely replaces her wardrobe to remove any painful memories that may be attached. There are a few things she liked too much to part with, maybe including her purple hat :) When it's time to perform, Jackalope offers to find her a skirt just like her original, but she prefers to do without it.

WAIT the funniest thing happened to me yesterday at the pony party!!

During the first summer of covid, a lot of restaurants that were closed were like, please buy our merch help us make a tiny tiny bit of money and this one restaurant called Turkey and the Wolf in New Orleans had a shirt that had a river boat filled with jars of Duke's mayonnaise. I actually bought this shirt last year bc it was constantly selling out but the point is that is why I bought a shirt from a restaurant I had never been to. I like duke's mayonnaise and I was really into novelty clothing items last summer.

So yesterday I was wearing my shirt at the pony party and one of the dads was like, OH MY GOD YOUR SHIRT CAN I TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR SHIRT? and I was like, what? and he said he'd just been to a bachelor party in New Orleans (first of all why are all these 40 something men still going on bachelor parties! adam just went on one too!) and that my shirt was from the best restaurant they ate in. And I was like, wow I've heard good things about this restaurant but I've never actually been, I bought it online bc I liked the boat full of mayonnaise! And he took a picture of me in my shirt to send his brother, who bought their cookbook, and my friend Holli was like, WOW YOU REALLY LIKE MAYONNAISE! And I really do! I REALLY DO!

Anyway I this is the image on the back of my shirt, but mine is short sleeved. I wish I'd gotten the long sleeved one bc of the large jars of mayo on the sleeves but it's CONSTANTLY Sold out and the short sleeved one was a limited run. Mayo Queen!!

I don't collect many things, but of the things I do collect I think the most surreal is physical Mabinogi merch.

To explain Mabinogi is an MMORPG that came out in 2008 and I've been playing it ever since beta. I'd argue it has plenty of charm and enough reason even now in 2023 for anyone with even some slight interest in it to give it a shot however to me (and to my partner) it has a special place. Not only is it how my partner and I met, but it's literally a game I have played for 15 years now; considering I'm 28 that's over half my entire life.

As you might imagine back in middle school and even early high school I didn't really have a lot of money, let alone the understanding of how to order things from overseas. So a very niche MMORPG didn't necessarily have a lot of merch out and about. While most kids at my school had Pokémon backpacks or some kind of Anime plastered on their shirt (normally Naruto or Dragonball) I never had physical merch. So I was always that annoying kid who had to verbally tell you how much I liked my dumb special interest.

To give you an idea of how much this game was a part of my life, my mother once bought me an actual copy of the Mabinogion, like; the book that the game is loosely based on, it's entirely in Welsh and my mom also gave me a dictionary to translate it, I was stoked about this; I was in early high school walking around with a black book with a red symbol on the front speaking in Welsh as you can imagine this did not make me popular and cool.

Now my partner and I collect actual official merch, just last year we acquired a few magazines, guide books, and even manga. It's incredible to behold such a snapshot of time from when this was all still new and popular.

This is a guide book from back when the slogan for the game was still "fantasy life" it would later become "anime life" and a few other things; but this is the one I remember from my childhood:

We were really excited to look through this and translate it, more over we were taken aback by the system requirements listed in the guide book, I mean just check out these specs!

The funniest part is that there was a time at which I was getting a new laptop because I had to travel and I specifically gave the guy at Bestbuy this almost exact rundown for the specs I needed. This was of course because my plan was to install Mabi on it, which I did. However I had a hard time explaining to anyone why I wanted these sort of specs specifically without saying "uh so I can play an extremely niche online game from Korea?"

We also got books that were literally Item and databooks which had full lists of items you could obtain in the game as well as what races and genders could use them:

This was an absolute trip down nostalgia lane for us.

I cannot stress just how cool it was to flip through these pages and go "oh shit I had those, oh I remember that! Remember this? Yea it was from an event, damn that was a long time ago; oh god I'm old."

It's crazy to see just how much detail and effort went into these! I didn't even know they existed, if I was aware of these back in school I'd have gone ballistic over them like, check this out there's entire pages dedicated to Generation 1:

These books are great and I personally love the manga, illustrations of the world that I've only ever seen as low poly PMGs is such a sight to behold as a long time fan.

However you may notice something, there's not a ton of physical merch. Sure there's books and manga, and it seems like at one point there were standees and a few figures, posters, and mugs; but these days getting your hands on the rarer merch can be difficult and not to mention expensive.

That's sort of why we excitedly took matters into our own hands, slowly and methodically recreating the game's PMG models as OBJs we can actually print from our 3D printer. It's not easy but it's totally worth it.

I know this probably sounds REALLY stupid to you, and I wouldn't blame you for laughing at me for it; but the fact that I have played this game for 15 years; and today I held a 3D printed figure of a Golem in my fucking hands has me feeling a certain kind of way that's hard to explain. Knowing I could print figures of our characters, our favorite NPCs, not to mention entire dungeons and create dioramas of our favorite places from a game that means so much to me is genuinely mind boggling.

I think the part of all this that still has me in disbelief is that if you asked me what I wanted when I was a depressed 16 year old in school who came home and immediately jumped on Mabi; I'd 100% tell you that I just want to live alone with a partner who enjoyed Mabi and maybe a few cats. Now I'm 28 living with a partner who I not only met via this game but who is actually significantly better than me at it lol; we also have 3 cats and our home is slowly but surely being decorated with more and more Mabinogi crafts. I don't mean to sound like my life revolves around this game, though I admit I do laugh when my partner breaks out her signature slogan of "Mabinogi is Real Life" but I guess in a sense it just feels like I've fucking made it you know? I did it, I finally got the life I was longing for and while it may not feel real; every day this sort of thing happens makes it a littler harder to deny that I'm living the dream. I'm far from rich and I'm far from healthy; and I don't exactly have a great career or anything sure, but I think 16 year old me would be happy with the way I turned out.

Please tell the story about meeting Anthony 👀

ok so in philly i was second row center and anthony held my hand at one point and the venue was such that there was no barricade or anything and there wasnt any lighting system either cause it was a church basement, the house lights were off but the lights were on on stage so you could see the band and so those of us in the front were just really exposed like everyone on stage and all of their family members side stage could just SEE US. cringe. im in so many pictures.

but basically after the show i was waiting outside the bathroom for my friends and anthony walked out of a doorway directly next to where i was standing with his daughter and just walked out to the venue like the room where the show happened, this is a REALLY small venue there is only one entrance/exit both for fans and band/crew. and im not even like an anthony stan but yes i have been kind of seduced and charmed by him so i was like omg...anthony green. but i didnt say anything. we went out to the main room after everyone was done in the bathroom and i was talking to some friends of mine in the merch line and he was again standing right there talking to whoever was selling the merch but he was with his daughter so i felt weird saying anything plus there was a ton of people around.

but THEN after that as i was finally leaving i was like walking out and there was a guy handing out fliers for future shows there and i was like 'im not from here' and he was like 'but you came to this one' sDFLSKDFS and i was like walking out but i turned back to look at the guy and i was like 'lol yea thats true!' and when i turned around to start going up the stairs anthony was just standing there. and i was like 😳 😏 'oh....hiiiii' sDFLISJGKSJDF and basically he just said hi and thanked me for singing along he was like 'i saw you all night' and i was like 'thank you!' and that was it we both started walking in our opposite directions cause he was going back into the venue and i was leaving and my friend goes 'HE WANTS YOU' like. LOUDLY. why 😭 i was embarrassed i hope he didnt hear her

and then in boston i was front row and center stage and every single crowdsurfer came directly over my head and at one point he came down to eye level with me and was like ARE YOU OKAY and i was like yea im fine but the funniest part of the show was when he was standing right in front of me and literally. literally he was straddling my head because the stage came up to my chest and my head basically came up to his crotch and he had one leg on each side of me and im sorry but i was just LAUGHING i was cracking up i couldnt stop it was soooo funny. anthony green straddling my head. and also he was like dragging the mic cord across my face every time he was in front of me i cant

and then in brooklyn i didnt speak to him but after the show and after frank had come out and signed things for people, we were still hanging around and anthony was meeting the few people that were left and he was like standing against the building and i was on the opposite side of the car of someone i know like i was standing in the street talking to my friends and i look up and anthony was waving at me lmfao i was like...hi......and waved back....and then when he was leaving i like kind of wanted to speak to him one more time and maybe introduce myself and get a picture with him but i was standing directly next to him as he was talknig to a couple other people i know but i was too nervous to say anytjing lmao i got too shy....so he just walked away but its fine....next tour i will have a real conversation with him i suppose

The Yakuza's Bias Volume 1: Stan Culture X Criminal Underworld

Teki Yatsuda, the author of The Yakuza's Bias, has now had both of their works licensed in English within a single year. Considering there's only two however, there's almost more than a world of difference between the tragic and heart wrenching one shot A Home Far Away, and the incredibly humorous and over the top The Yakuza's Bias. Does that difference stop either from being outstanding reads? Absolutely not.

A Yakuza boss stanning a K-Pop idol isn't exactly the kind of thing you'd think of when "gag" or "comedy" manga comes to mind, but it's here, and I had no idea I needed it this bad. Yatsuda's character designs continue to be incredible, and their art remains impressively detailed and expressive in all the right ways. In this case, more than the subtle emotions and conflictions that plagued Yatsuda's last suite of characters, this time around it's all about conveying the crazy, and they nailed it.

Yatsuda's able to reconcile their very detailed and sharp character designs with smoother and more simple ones to sell the comedy, and I think it's something that should really be commended. Finding a way to preserve style through a lack of detail isn't easy, and they make it seem like it's effortless with the amount of variations they have throughout the first volume.

Similarly effortless is Yatsuda's merging of Yakuza and idol culture. Two extremes within the social sphere that, rather than clash, mesh hilariously well, and produce scenes like this one

And in truth, I think that effortless meshing of idol and Yakuza comes down to Yatsuda's approach. There's a clear lacking of a straight man through effectively all of its humor, so it's almost similar to something like D-Frag! in how it approaches comedy. Just so off the rails that you have nothing to compare it to, so it feels perfectly at home so long as it's funny.

And funny it is. The lead male character, Ken (the second in command of the clan he's a part of), has such a ridiculously fun personality. He's the kind of person that once he starts talking he can't shut up, and it produces some of the funniest skits and ideas you'll come across, like getting into a deep conversation about the idol group MNW with a hostess at a club that gets so emotional you end up buying a couple of bottles.

Past that, there's not really much else to say. It's incredibly hilarious, and continually finds ways to reinvent the wheel with its humor a la The Way of The HouseHusband, and it comfortably wades into the details and world of idol and stan culture. It provides all sorts of info and discussions surrounding this like merch swaps and social media cliques, and even stages several idol arguments in different capacities.

Comedy manga is definitely one of the hardest things to sell people on because of varying senses of humor, but I can't stress enough that people should be trying The Yakuza's Bias. K-Pop fans and Yakuza (parody) fans will certainly fall in love with this first volume, but even outside of those specifics, I think there's plenty for everyone to laugh at with this outlandish concept from Yatsuda. So, if you can, go out and buy this first volume, and if you can't, at least give it a shot online.

I started watching shortly after NWHS aired (with no knowledge of the emotions train that would hit when I got to that episode) because I’d seen a few people talking about how funny, cute, and smart Gravity Falls was and instantly liked the girl who made a light-up sweater. Instead of marathoning it, I saved it to watch an episode every so often as a fun pick-me-up for after watching more dramatic/sad/emotional things and eventually caught up right around when ATOTS aired.

Then this happened:

And Ford became my favorite and the show became a hyperfixation. This nerd who survived thirty years of what drove Fiddleford to erase his memory from a few seconds of exposure and who wrote things like Trust No One, who shoots first and asks questions later, and who is so full of trauma just... Played happily along with Giggle Time Bouncy Boots. He was still so passionate for the things he loved, still ready to be silly, just wanted to have a friend because he’d felt alone for so long, and was still trying to do good for the world despite everything. He had his flaws and misconceptions but ultimately, this nerd was doing the best he could with what he had.

Also, I’ve written about this before but it meant a lot, personally, to see his character type allowed to be one of the heroes where most media would villainize someone like him.

Oof. A Tough one. There are so many hilarious or cute or just well put-together pages. But, I’m going to go with the last two-page spread because it’s so nice to see them all happy like this:

We get to see the family work together, Weird Al is there, Grenda gets to weaponize an armchair, and we get to see who Ford is now, not from the past, not from the journal, and not fresh out of the nightmare realm. Bonus points for Stan apologizing to Dipper for making fun of him. I feel like that was a huge character growth moment for him and more reason to love his character too.

6. Funniest Joke:

Oh man. I’m not sure what to pick here. There’s the classic ones that became memes, of course, but there are also things like Dipper’s internet history and Mabel and the leaf blower. 

Hmm. I’m going to go with basically the entire premise of this:

Getting bored while falling in the bottomless pit.

It’s personally hilarious because on a trip in 2010, a few friends and I saw a well on the top of a mountain and wondered how deep that would have to be if there wasn’t a spring or something. That led to the idea of “at what point do you stop screaming and get hungry or bored or need to sleep when falling into a bottomless pit.” So this episode was basically our thoughts on it.

7. Favorite Game/Book/Merch:

Oof another tough one because, while Journal 3 is probably my favorite, I want to give a shout out to:

I love that it gave us more stories. We got more Pacifica development, creepy faceless Mabel, a post-Weirdmageddon Stan and Ford adventure with bonus Mabel in the multiverse, a smol Stans adventure, and *gestures to all of Comix Up. I mean, how could you not love some Dipper and Pacifica bonding, Stan finding out that Ford is an interdimensional criminal, Baby Stan and Ford bonding, and almost the entire cast hilariously stuck in anime schoolgirl uniforms and thrown into various other comic book personas.

9. Favorite Quote:

“Karaoke is not about sounding good, it's about sounding terrible, TOGETHER.”

The sentiment is applicable to so many things. It’s not about being good or perfect, it’s about throwing expectations and self-consciousness out the window to have honest fun with the people you love.

10. A Special Memory or Moment About Gravity Falls:

Meeting so many incredible people through the fandom; People I’m friends offline with now and who I still chat with about life. It’s been one of the best experiences of my life getting to talk to so many awesome people, see your creative content, and to create my own (This show made me start drawing again and I’ve gotten hundreds of thousands of words in writing practice thanks to writing fics! Plus cosplaying and getting to meet other cosplayers! So much fun!). Thank you to everyone who helped make this show possible!

i’ve also been trying to not be super negative but the big sad is also hitting me tonight. like i LOVED q, his dsmp character is one of my favorite characters from anything ever, i had on multiple different occasions called him the funniest mfer on the planet, i bought so much stupid las nevadas merch and now it’s just like. MAN. it would hurt less atp if he just straight up said he hated the dteam now like this is just torturous and sad and i do not get it. i know time keeps marchin on and things will heal etc but it still sucks. there’s a little part of me that wishes he would have an epiphany or something and just apologize and explain everything but as it goes on it just feels like that’s not gonna happen :( sorry abt the rant but like.
