It was no surprise that sometimes Asta got into a funk. He’s never once cried in front of his team, and he tries to stay as chipper as he can, but sometimes he just has his days.

This particular day had been absolutely horrid, with the young boy accidentally waking an hour later than he usually did. This threw his entire schedule off kilter.

He had to train twice as fast, which made his muscles sore and tender. He hobbled inside of the base, holding his sore shoulder. (2,000 swings really did a number on his dominant arms.

He missed breakfast and had to ask Charmy to cook something for him with his tail between his legs—Of course, the woman didn’t much mind, always happy to provide a meal.

He wordlessly ate his late breakfast and sighed. Maybe the rest of the day would be better?

To his dismay, it was very much not.

Asta ran his face through his hands as he took a bathroom breaks few hours later. It wasn’t fair. Why was the universe so against him? He had to hold in his anguish so he wouldn’t take out his frustrations on his teammates. He smacked his cheeks a few times and plastered on a smile.

“It’ll be okay! It’s just like a game of pretend. As long as I keep smiling, nobody will notice anything’s going wrong!” he chimed to himself in the mirror.

He finished washing his hands and exited the bathroom. His smile was painfully fake, but nobody who wasn’t focused on him would notice.

What he didn’t know is that his senior had heard his “affirmation” through the door as he passed by…

The whole squad sat down for lunch: rice, meat, and peas—courtesy of Charmy— with some almond sugar cookies for dessert—courtesy of Gordon.

Asta’s eyes lit up as he noticed the cookies; things were definitely making a turn for the better.

Anyone attentive would have easily noticed Asta’s off behavior. He was unusually quiet, and eating very carefully. (He did not want to risk dropping ANYTHING. Gods know that would likely be his last straw and he’d start crying right here and now.)

The anti-magic user finished his bowl of food and engaged in light conversation, only replying in short sentences. Finral watched his junior with a slight frown; Asta looked so uncomfortable, and had that stupid fake smile plastered on his face.

When it was time for the cookies to go around, the ash-blonde reached excitedly for one. As he brought it up to his mouth, it cracked in half and fell on the ground.

All eyes turned to look at him in confusion. Normally, he would’ve whined and reached for another one, but the boy’s chest was heaving a bit as his lip wobbled.

‘Not good’ Finral thought as he opened a tiny portal near his waist. The other end of the portal appeared at the same height on Asta’s side.

As tears pricked the corners of the anti-magic user’s eyes, they were quickly blinked away as a squeak left his lips. A pinch to his side had brought him back to reality. “Aaaaaa! I dropped it! Gimme another one! Please please pleeeeeease!!” He had tried acting like he normally did and made grabby hands at Noelle, who promptly scoffed and put one directly between his teeth. “fenk yew!”

The spatial mage smiled. Mission accomplished.

Asta ate the cookie happily, and Finral could tell that it instantly improved his mood a bit. Though, as his senior, he couldn’t help but be a bit mischievous… The brunette waited until the boy had finished chewing then opened another portal. He skittered his fingers across Asta’s stomach.

The ash-blonde giggled and slapped a hand over his mouth, glaring daggers at his senior. Finral smiled innocently at him, waving with the hand that was not currently tickling the boy.

“What are you doing?” he hissed, “this is so nohohot fahahair!”

Finral held a finger to his lips and grinned sweetly. He let two fingers pinch around the anti-magic user’s torso. Asta rested his head on the table as he giggled quietly.

Vanessa cocked an eyebrow at the resident feral child being uncharacteristically quiet. Her gaze shifted to Finral, whom she noticed had his hand through a hidden portal. She smiled in realization as she saw Asta’s shoulders heaving with laughter; Finral really was a really sweet guy.

The brunette snaked his hand under Asta’s grey tee shirt and traced his fingers up and down the swordsman’s sides and middle.

“Fihihihinrahahal.” The ash-blonde whined sotto voce, “Ihihihit tihihihickles!”

“What did you say, idiot?” Noelle quipped, turning her attention to him. It was at that point that she noticed the portal, and Asta’s giggling figure. Her face flushed as she went quiet. Asta looked… adorable like this!

“Fihihihinrahahal- plehehehease.”

Noelle looked at Finral until he caught her eye. She looked around the table to make sure all other parties were distracted before pointing to her own underarms.

The spatial mage smiled and shot her a wink of understanding. He mirrored the girl’s actions, taking notice of how many were watching. It seemed that Vanessa, Noelle, and Gordon had caught on and were spectating his little game.

Now, Finral was not an evil person; there wasn’t a lick of malice in his body. But he had to get Asta back for not respecting his authority all of those times… He had to find a way to get everyone to notice how giggly the ash-blonde had become.

It was time to go for the kill. He opened another portal and snaked his other hand under the boy’s shirt, bringing both up to tickle under his arms.

Asta squealed loudly and sank in his chair as he giggled helplessly. “Fihihihinrahahahal! Stahahahappihihihit!”

“Ey, Wheels, what’re you doin’ to the kid?” Yami asked, standing up and walking to the spatial mage.

“Nothing sir! I’m not sure what’s going on!” The brunette feigned innocence, trying to hide the portals he had made with the rest of his body.

“Ohhhh so that’s what’s happening?” Yami Cheshire grinned, “Let’s see if you can take what you can dish out.”

“Yami, no! Wait, hold on! Let’s have a civil, adult conversAHAHAHAHATIOHOHOHOHON! WAHAHAHAHAIT!”

The entire squad had definitely discovered the game, unfortunately at the expense of poor Finral’s dignity. The two mages laughed helplessly as the rest watched them with smiles.

After a few minutes, both parties were completely exhausted, with Asta lasting longer than Finral… as usual… In the spatial mage’s defense, Yami was absolutely ruthless, and went for his death spot immediately.

Everyone started to clear from the table, helping Charmy to clean up—or running away from duties in Luck and Magna’s case— and rinsing the dishes off.

Finral quickly grabbed four cookies from the platter, portaling them to his nightstand for later. He scribbled a note onto a napkin and portaled it into Asta’s lap, disappearing to his room shortly after.

When the ash-blonde had gone to stand up and take a break in his room, he noticed the small napkin and opened it as he walked the halls toward his bedroom.

‘My door is always open if you wanted to tell me what’s troubling you. Sorry about earlier… I couldn’t stand to see you fake smiling and not do something about it’

The boy’s threatening tears returned to prick the corners of his eyes as he turned on his heel toward his senior’s room.

When the ash-blonde arrived, the door opened to reveal a sympathetic-looking Finral, holding a cookie in his hand. The boy fell forward into the brunette’s chest, causing him to portal the cookie to safety. He knelt down and wrapped his arms around the boy, kicking the door shut with his foot.

“Don’t hold back,” he murmured, rubbing Asta’s back reassuringly, “Tell me what’s going on, Asta. It’s okay, just cry it out…”

So, he did.

Finral had to do a quick double take when his captain reported that they were going to train him today. Yami? Train? Him? What was the occasion? Was it his birthday and he just didn’t know? Who is this man, and what did he do with his captain?

“Wheels, you’re with me today.” Yami reported, taking a drag from his cigarette. “Let’s get those portals of yours workin’ better, eh?”

“S-Sure but, what’s the uh… what’s the occasion?”

“Whaddaya mean, kid? I’m your captain, ‘s my job to train ya’ every now and then.”

Finral smiled. “Y-Yeah! How are we going to-“

The spatial mage noticed a flash of silver out of the corner of his eye. After turning his head, it was gone.

“Did you- nevermind…”

As Yami was outlining the plan to his subordinate, the brown-haired boy was scarcely focused. His eyes kept darting around as the silver flashes continued to appear. “Hey, wheels-“

With brows furrowed, Finral pivoted, trying to catch the silver flash.

“-ls.”

“eels-“

“HEY, FINRAL!”

Blinking rapidly, the spatial mage was brought back to reality. “Oh! Uh, sorry sir… I thought I’d seen someth-“

In a quick moment, Finral yelped and dragged Yami through a hastily made portal.

“The hell, kid?”

“There- I saw- behind you-“ he sputtered. “G-GHOST! Ghost! I saw a ghost!”

“We don’t have ghosts here.” The dark magic user replied, unfazed.

“I swear! I saw it! It had silver hair and all white clothes!”

“Silver hair and all white… oh.” Yami chuckled. I bet my bottom dollar that it’s just Henry.” The captain turned stood still for a moment, closing his eyes and seemingly focusing on something.

“Captain Yami..?!” the brunette whimpered.

“Shh, focusing.”

“But there’s-“

“Hey! SHH!”

Finral went silent and stood anxiously by his captain’s side. The pair sat in an uncomfortable silence, unmoving for a good amount of time.

Yami suddenly whipped around with a shout and wrapped an arm around the other mage’s chest. “Don’t worry, wheels. I’ll keep you safe from the ghost!”

“Captain Y-ahahami!” Finral wiggled and slapped his free hand over his mouth, as he felt fingers wiggle on his left side.

“I have to save you from the ghost, don’t you know? Ghosts are scared of loud laughing.” The dark magic user reported, once again attacking the latter’s side.

“Yahahamihihi. Thahahats nohohohot- PFF- Nohohohoho!”

As Yami’s hand traveled to Finral’s stomach, the mage kicked his legs helplessly, throwing his head back against the broad chest behind him. “Cahahaptahahain! Ihihihi- stahahap! Ghohohosts ahaharehehent scahahared!”

“Well sure they are! I haven’t seen this “ghost” since I’ve started ticklin’ ya’, kid.”

The spatial mage’s face flushed red at the accursed word. “HNGH- DoHOHOnt sahahat thahahat!”

“Say what? Ghost?” The captain feigned innocence.

“Nohohoho! Thehehe-nyeahahaha! Thehehe ohohother wohohohord.”

“Ohhhhh, you mean the T word?” Yami teased. “Ah, no matter how old you get, you’re still just like a little kid, Finral.”

“Stahahahap teheheasihihing mehehe!” the brunette whined. “Ahahahand mohohove spohohots! Ihihi cahahant Tahahake ihihit!”

“Ohhhh, someone can’t handle tickles on his widdle tum tum?”

“YAHAHAMIHIHI IHIHI SWEHEHEAR TOHOHO-“

“Juuuust kidding,” the captain cooed. “Move spots huh? Maybe not, I think it’ll scare the ghost even more… or maybe that is a good idea.”

“Yahahamihihi!”

“Okay, fine. Suit yourself.”

“Moving spots probably won’t be wise, if I remember right…” Yami used the hand trapping the latter to his chest to hold both of Finral’s wrists. His free hand descended under the spatial mage’s arm and went in for the kill. “This was a pretty bad spot for ya’, kid.”

Finral’s eyes bugged out wide as he screeched and kicked his legs. “WAITWAITWAIT YAHAHAHMIHIHIHI! NOHOHOHO!”

“Aha! Still got it! Ol’ mind’s like a steel trap.” the dark magic user reported.

“CMOHOHOHON THIHIHIS IHIHIS SOHOHOHO STUUHUHUPIHIHID!” Finral whined, squeezing his eyes shut as a blush crept over his cheeks.

“And yet you haven’t made a portal to try and run away yet.”

“IHIHI CAHAHANT FOHOHOCUHUHUS!”

“Or you could tell me the truth… eh, giggles?”

“YAHA- *snort* YAHAHAMIHIHI DOHOHONT BEHEHE A JEHEHERK!”

“M’not a jerk! You’re the one who won’t admit that you like bein’ tickled over here, wheels.”

The latter mage whined through his laughter and his his face the best he could, his neck and ears giving away his embarrassment.

“Awww, poor kiddo! S’alright, Asta and Luck are in the saame boat.”

“YAHAHAMIHIHI PLEHEHEHEHEASE! IHIHI CAHAHANT TAHAHAKE IHIHIT!”

“You’re doing fine so far; you’re gonna have to portal out if you wanna stop the wrath of this tickle monster.”

Finral tried to focus on making a portal, but the assault on his most ticklish spot did not help his concentration. “IHIHIHI GIHIHIVEHEHE! STAHAHAHAPPIHIHIT! LEHEHET MEHEHE GOHOHOHO!”

“Fine, fine.”

Yami ceased his ticklish assault and dropped Finral’s arms, resulting in the smaller mage crumbling to the floor.

The captain chuckled heartily at his junior’s reaction. “Man, not much endurance in you, eh wheels? We gotta build that up.”

The brunette’s head was spinning as he answered in a whiny voice. “I’ll make a note of that, sir.”

“C’mon, kid. Uuuuup ya go.” Yami carefully helped the spatial mage to his feet, dusting off his clothes. “You okay, Finral?”

“Y-Yeah just… just a bit out of it.”

“I’ll go easier on you next time,” the dark magic user reported. “Now come on, let’s get working on those portals that you “couldn’t focus on” earlier.”

Finral whined as he hid his face in his hands, resulting in a ruffle of his hair and a chuckle from his superior.

Meanwhile, Henry watched from a ledge above, kicking his feet in amusement over the antics he had caused.

The castle was strangely quiet when Finral came back.

Not that he was complaining- today had been a fairly bad one. From his mission filled with unexpected twists and turns to an unfortunate encounter with a snobby mage that sent him flying into the canal, he was feeling less than stellar in that moment.

As he began pulling his damp shirt away from him, he heard it. A faint giggle. Pausing, he turned back to find nothing.

Then he heard another, this one farther out but still within his radius. “Hello?” Finral called, goosebumps spreading across his skin for an entirely new reason. The base was old, and while Captain Yami never confirmed any ghost sightings, he didn’t disprove them either. “Who’s there?”

“Ooooo~” Something crooned from behind, making him straighten with a yelp. Footsteps followed, seeming to run towards him.

“Stay back!” Finral  backed away, hands coming up to protect himself. “I’m warning you- I- I have a book!” His grimoire raised, glowing beside him. “I’ll- I’ll use magic on you! Stay aw-”

Hands grabbed his shoulders. Finral screamed.

“Pfft- Geahahhahahahaha! Fin- pffffft! Finral, that was amazing!” Asta cackled, falling back on his butt as he laughed and laughed, rolling around on the floor. On Finral’s other side, Luck was holding his belly, kicking his feet as he giggled like a child.

“Oohohoh my GOD! Finral- you should be in a horror movie!” Magna cried, tears of mirth streaming down his face as he hung onto the wall, barely getting the words out between wheezy howls. “That was AMAZING!”

Finral looked at all of them, a hand pressed against his beating heart as he took in his surroundings. No ghosts- just these idiots. He felt relieved.

For five seconds. Then he was pissed.

“You absolute BUFFOONS!” He raged, too mad to feel embarrassed about his scream. The insult had the opposite effect- making the three laugh harder. “What the hell is wrong with you? Why are you acting like ghosts?”

“Oohohohow! Ow my behehehehlly!” Asta cried, giggling so hard tears leaked. Luck had rolled onto his side, coughing around his giggles. “I huhuhuhurt!”

“Ahahhahasta, brhehehathe!” Magna snickered, eyes twinkling as he met Finral’s glare. “We’re sorry, Fin! It was too funny to pass up!” He walked over, throwing an arm around his shoulders. “You looked so scared-huh? What’s that smell? You fell into the canal or something?” He leaned down, sniffing his shirt. “Yep.”

“G-Get off me! You’re all terrible.” Finral backed away, crossing his arms and glaring at the floor. “What did I expect? This day was destined to suck.”

“Finral…” The laughter died down as the three took in their friend’s mood, sharing looks of concern. “Hey, we’re sorry- really. We didn’t think you’d be this mad.” Luck got up, gently wrapping his arms around the other. “I don’t think you smell that bad!”

“We’re sorry, Finral. Forgive us?” Asta hugged his other side, giving him his best puppy eyed expression. Luck quickly followed suit, matching perfectly and doubling the effect.

“Ugh, you guys- oh not you too!” Finral couldn’t fight down a laugh when Magna joined in, sticking out his lower lip. “Fine, you’re forgiven.” He shook his head, ruffling the younger boy’s hair as he sighed. “This time. Do that a second time and I’m never talking to any of you ever again!”

“Oh no! Finral, don’t say that!” Luck cried, squeezing him some and unintentionally tickling. “We love you too much!”

“Don’t stop speaking to us!” Asta agreed, squeezing as well.

“I woohon’t if you don’t scahare me again!” Finral tried to argue, but his voice was broken up by giggles and laughs. Magna, who had been watching from the sidelines, grinned.

“Boys- he’s ticklish.” He called. Finral gaped. “Get em.”

“No! No, don’t you da-ahahahhahahahre!” Finral yelped, shooting upward as twenty fingers attacked his torso all at once. Luck massaged along his middle ribs while Asta put all his efforts into his belly and waist. “Nohohohoho, dohohooohohn’t! Stahahhahap it!”

“Promise you’re gonna keep speaking to us!” Luck cried, scribbling up and down his ribs with reckless abandon. “Promise!”

“Yeah, yeah! Promise!” Asta cheered, leaning in and nuzzling Finral’s hip with his nose as he squeezed, earning a short squeal. “Tell us you love us!”

“Ahehahahahaha! Gehahaha-whahhaahha! Finral tried to step back- losing his footing and tumbling over. Luck and Asta were undeterred, falling with him as they resumed their antics. “Mahahhahahgma hehehehhehehelp!”

“Yeah! Magna, help us tickle him!” Luck agreed, sitting on Finral’s hips as he pressed into his highest ribs.

“It’s fun! He makes funny noises!” Asta agreed, flopping across the older mage’s  legs as he squeezed and pinched his knees. “Come on!”

“Mahahhagma, Mahhahahhagma, plehahahahahse!!” Finral tried to reason with the fire mage as he came around, kneeling above him with a devious grin. “Hhahahahve mehehehehercy!”

“Hm…nope!” He grabbed his hands, pulling them up and above his head. “Get his pits, Luck! He’ll scream!”

“Wait! Wahahait wait wahahaAHHAHAHHAHAHHIT!” And scream Finral did. Not too unlike his terrified scream, the spacial mage flailed about beneath his teammates as Luck pressed into his armpits, wiggling and scribbling. “NOHOHOHOT THEHEHEHHHERE! EHEHAHHA!”

“Oooo, he’s so ticklish here! Coochie coochie coo!” Luck sang, giggling like a child at the reaction. Magna and Asta’s snickers were quick to join in, lost in the sound of Finral’s laughing fit. They could do this forever!

“AH!” Luck yelped when strings shot out, knitting into his clothes and pulling him up like a puppet. “Oh no! I’ve been puppeteered!” He laughed as he was pulled up and into the air, hanging about.

“Give him a second to breathe, Luck.” Vanessa laughed as she walked up. “What are you boy’s doing to him?”

“Just messing around. We were gonna stop eventually.” Magna grinned, helping said man sit up. Luck was pretending to fly, striking superhero poses above them. “Weren’t we, Lucky Strike?” He reached up, wiggling fingers into Luck’s belly and earning a squeal.

“Let me down, I’m gonna get him!” Luck cried, fighting back the best he could. Vanessa laughed, bringing them closer to her as their game continued, raising and lowering Luck as she went.

“Are you feeling better, Mr. Finral?” Asta asked, regaining the older mage’s attention. “You seemed really upset earlier.”

“You know…I do, actually.” Finral nodded, reaching out and patting Asta’s head. “Thanks for cheering me up. I needed it.”

“Does that mean we get to tickle you more often?” Asta grinned, earning a light shove.

“Only if I get to tickle you back. Speaking of…” He raised wiggling fingers, jerking his chin to the dynamic duo. “Shall we get revenge?”

Asta didn’t hesitate for a second.

“What?” He blinked, starting to grin when he saw your lips twitching. “Oh this wretched day! How will I ever go on without seeing my beloved smile?” He fell into you dramatically, one hand to his forehead while the other clutched his chest, You leaned back, watching him slide into your lap with a theatrical sigh. “What if this is to be my demise?”

“Then die.” You shrugged, unable to fight down the laughs when he gaped. “I’ll come to your funeral.”

“Oh, you sneak! Alright then- if theatrics won’t work, what if I do…this!” He shot his hands out, grabbing your sides and making you squeal. “Tickle tickle, (Y/N)!”

“Ah! Ahehahahahhaha! Finral, you jehehehehrk! AHehahahahhha!” You giggled helplessly, struggling between twisting out of his lap and leaning into his touch. “Stahhahahp tihihihickling mehehehehe!”

“After you told me to die? I think not!” Finral laughed with you, pulling you properly into his arms as his fingers danced across your tickle spots, relishing in the little squeaks and squeals you made. “Such a mouthy little thing you are- I’ll have to replace all that sass with laughter!”

We'll start with your mans, Finral! Oh my goodness, this man is so pure and good and the target for so many tickle attacks. Be it Yami, Vanessa, Luck or even Zora on rare occations, he's almost always the number 1 choice if anyone is in a ler mood.

And oh, this poor guy is so sensitive. He's a constant victim of passing pokes and pinches in the hideout. Tickles are a surefire way to cheer their favourite spatial mage up, and he'd never admit it, but he really doesn't mind.

Yami! He's known as the scariest ler in the black bulls by far, not one person on his squad has escaped his tickly wrath. The very few people who can actually bring Yami down is William Vangence, Vanessa and Julius back when Yami was younger.

Asta! Oh my son, my boy, my child. He's practically the biggest switch among them all. He's not too shy about liking tickling, he'll admit he enjoys tickling others but he'll get a little flustered if anyone points out that he rarely fights back when being on the receiving end. With how energetic and eager the boy is, it didn't take long for him to be targeted by the Luck and Magna tag team.

The Finral fans are strong on this blog! (I count as one too- I love him so much!) And Vanessa! She's amazing! I've gotcha anon! :D

“Uh oh! Looks like someone’s ticklish!” Vanessa cooed, her manicured nails dancing across Finral’s torso as she tickled him relentlessly. He had come in to check on her after she seemingly passed out on the couch.

Little did he know he was walking into a trap.

“V-Vahahhehhahahahahahnessahhahahahaha! Geahhahahahahaha, plehahahahhahaese!” Finral cried, squirming and twisting beneath her, unable to fight back the smile pulling at his lips. The witch was a menace of tickles when sober.

Tipsy? She was an utter monster!

“Please what, honey? Keep tickling you?” She cooed, her fingers dancing up his ribs, slowly creeping towards his armpits before shooting back down again, leaving him lightheaded with anticipation. “Well, since you asked so nicely!”

“Vahahahhahahhaneehehehhheheshahahahahaha!” He squealed when she focused her efforts on a particularly bad spot just beneath his armpit, right along the top of his ribs. He considered tickling her back, but he couldn’t focus long enough to make a move. That, and everytime he raised his arms to do so, she’d pinch along that spot again and again, making him shoot back down with a cackle. “Hahahhahahahhve mehehehehehherhcy!” 

“Hmm….maybe I will.” Vanessa pulled her hands away, sitting back with an impish grin. “Okay! Mercy you shall receive.”

Finral gasped for breath, closing his eyes. He figured he should be happy she complied so easily but instead he felt…oddly lonely.

“Erm…hey…’Nessa?” He averted his eyes as he gained her attention. “Hm?” She asked, voice dripping with honey.

“You erm…don’t have to have mercy on me. I might have…spoken too soon?” He mumbled the last part, his face burning as he pulled at his sleeve. God, why was this so difficult?

“Oh? So you want me to keep tickling you?” She cooed, leaning closer so she could get a good look at his face. Finral felt himself blush deeper, and he hid in his hands. “Y-Yes?” He squeaked, making her laugh.

“Cutie. Well, since you are asking this time~” Her fingers danced along his belly, making him squeak and giggle once more. “How can I say no?”
