This is an idea I've had in my head for a while now, but now I finally made something out of it. Behold my new headcanon - that the mythological Clans in the nursery tales (LionClan, TigerClan, LeopardClan) are actually big cat species from ice age europe!
Basically, I've been watching a lot of paleontology-related videos lately about prehistoric wildlife, and it got me thinking about how there actually were big cats in England once like in the stories about the ancient Clans, but they weren't the lions, tigers, and leopards we know today. That gave me the idea that maybe the stories the Clans tell about those ancient Clans now are just heavily distorted versions of true events from England's ice age era and the real big cats that roamed the land at that time, twisted through many generations of retelling. Here, we see Squirrelflight telling her brood of three (more on why I chose these particular cats in a bit) the tales of the ancient Clans, while the true ancient cats are visible to the audience above her head, and the deeds from the nursery tales about them are painted on the cave walls.
As for the big cats themselves, there were (coincidentally enough) three big cat species in the UK during the ice age to choose from. I've chosen cave lions to represent LionClan, European ice age leopards to represent LeopardClan, and scimitar-toothed cats to represent TigerClan. Scimitar-toothed cats aren't as closely linked to tigers as cave lions are to African lions or ice age leopards are to today's leopards, but they were the only ones left to choose, and dangit they look cool so who cares? :P They didn't live in real Clans as the Clans imagine them in stories, they roamed either as solitary hunters or in loose groups (or in tighter groups like prides possibly, not totally sure what the consensus is for how these big cats lived, but there's a bit of wiggle room here considering these are fictional intelligent group-forming versions of these cats).
It was interesting trying to draw these three extinct species with no living photo refs. I used photos of lions and leopards for the cave lions and ice age leopards, but made some changes like adding more fluff for the leopard and giving the cave lion the shorter and broader muzzle and thick dense fur (but no sexually dimorphic mane) they were known to have. For the scimitar-toothed cat, there's really no living analog with quite the same facial features, so I ended up using this bit of paleoart as a reference. I gave the cave lion pretty simialar coloration and pattern to an african lion, only with a bit of a duller grayer coat. The leopard I made a bit paler than the leopards we know today, and the scimitar-toothed cat I used similar colors and pattern to a lynx, but with more darker stripe-ish markings to justify the "how TigerClan got their stripes" story.
I would like to stress here that I am not a paleoartist, I am not a paleontologist or a biology expert of any kind, I am simply a humble English major and website editor who likes to watch paleontology videos in my spare time. If there are any glaring inaccuracies in this in regards to how I depicted these species, I do apologize, I tried my best, but as I stressed I am in no way an expert or even a novice in this field.
The cave paintings above each cat's head represents the story told about their "Clan" in "Secrets of the Clans". For the scimitar-toothed cat, it's the moon shining its light down to create the shadows that will carve the dark stripes into their pelts - obviously just completely made up to explain the dark stripes these cats developed, which can be far more easily be explained as a form of camouflage in tall grass. For LeopardClan, it's the tale of Fleetfoot fighting the boars to claim the river, and for LionClan, it's Sunpelt's standoff against the giant snake Mouthclaw.
But here we have another twist. These cave paintings actually depict events, and creatures, far older than even these ancient Clans, stories passed down from their own ancient ancestors, or else surmzied through finding remainds of the ancient creatures and creating a story around them. The giant snake Mouthclaw is a titanoboa (they didn’t live anywhere near the UK, but oh well - maybe just one managed to find their way over there :P) and the "boars” Fleetfoot supposedly faced are actually the terrifying “hell pig” (actually more closely related to hippos, far more terrifying than boars in my opinion), the enteledont! I based the painting of Sunpelt on a real cave painting thought to be a cave lion, the one of Fleetfoot loosely on a real painting thought to be an ice age leopard, and the enteledont loosely on a real cave painting of a running boar. I couldn’t find any really old cave paintings of snakes in that same style, so I had to kind of wing that one. Not sure it totally fits the art style of the others, but oh well, best I could do.
Now for the last bit - why I chose Squirrel and her first litter to be the ones telling/hearing the tale. Mostly because of an interesting AU I thought of - what if the Three (not counting Hollyleaf, but oh well, I couldn’t exactly stick Dovekit in here when she wasn’t born yet) weren’t reincarnations of ancient Tribe cats, but of ancient big cats? Lionblaze would be a cave lion, of course, then maybe an ice age leopard for Dovewing and a scimitar-tooth for Jayfeather? Dunno, but it could make for a really fun AU. :D
Anyway, this was a lot of fun to draw and I’m super happy with how it turned out: :D

Mythology and Legends of the Clans for my Warrior cats rewrite!
LionClan, LeopardClan and TigerClan
In the prophecy begins they introduce mythology with LionClan and such and then the just drop it never to be seen again as many ideas in this series have. This is to expand on the mythology we already have in warriors and to change and add to it.
Tumblr media
First thing you’ll notice is that the leader of LeopardClan is now a snow leopards for a bit of variety. The three cats above us are known as Goldenstar, Swiftstar and Shadestar respectively!
Just like in canon the clans believe that the different ancient clans passed down different abilities that the cats of today have, as well as having different connections with the seasons and such. There’s no one clan that these big cat clans belonged too but different clans favour different stories and groups of big cats.
Kittens are also given their names for different reasons including in hopes of strength for weak kit or a kit that displays similar characteristics to the ancient clans.
LionClan They believe lions gave them the strength to fight and that they have associations with summer and the sun. ThunderClan favours them for Strength, while RiverClan and WindClan tends to favour the for the sun.
LeopardClan Believes leopards are what gives them the ability to climb, balance and run incredibly fast. they are associated with winter and the stars. Before SkyClan was kicked out they favoured leopards for their climbing, WindClan loves them for their speed and ThunderClan thinks spotted pelts are beautiful.
TigerClan Are believed to be what gives them stealth and the ability to swim, they are associated with Autumn and the moon. RiverClan favourites them for their ability to swim, ShadowClan for the ability of stalking and their dark pelts, and SkyClan for
Another thing is because cats don’t know that much about actual big cat species in the wild and of course they don’t know how to use a computer or read, different characters in their stories are different species of cats! Because house cats have such a variety in fur colours and patterns, their not gonna think these are different species!
These are all cannon characters redesigned!
Tumblr media
Fleetfoot is a cheetah, cause u know, fast. Thorntooth is a black jaguar, TigerClan is known for their dark pelts and jaguars LOVE swimming. Sunpelt is based on an asiatic lion and an adolescent male lion. Petalkit is just a lion cub.
There will be more clan Mythology idea posts that I’m excited for and hopefully the starclan and dark forest post will be done soon.

Does your rewrite give an explanation as to how clan cats in the UK know what big cats like tigers and leopards are? Personally my headcannon is that big cats are seen as mythical creatures like unicorns or dragons and that kittypets introduced the idea of these giant ultra-powerful cats to the clan cats from seeing big cats in nature documentaries from twoleg's tvs
Anon, the answer will shock you
They don't actually know what leopards, tigers, or lions are. It's a translation 'error' the same way that we treat wyrms, longs, and nagas as "dragons" when they're completely different mythological reptiles.
The three Great Clans are mythologized versions of the three groups who once lived by the ancient lake, warping over time until they were unique fantastical creatures.
Behold, a "Leopard"!
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A blue creature in the style of a medieval manuscript. It has the head of a pike, the tail of an otter, the ears and body of a cat, with scales spotting its back and tail.]
A "leopard" is a symbol of skill, beauty, and grace. In tales of the Great Clans, leopards are often used as the heroes that must overcome the trickery of "tigers" and the brutish honesty of "lions." Sometimes they are industrious like beavers and badgers, creating large structures that "tigers" must infiltrate.
They're usually described with colors like a northern pike, in various shades of brown, green, orange, black, and white. When they're drawn, blue pigment is taken from woad (isatis tinctora) to traditionally display them as blue in contrast to lions (yellow, weld dye) and tigers (red, madder dye)

The First StarClan
Tumblr media
Inspired by @usvaiset 's headcanon that the afterlife was founded by its first inhabitants: members from LionClan, TigerClan, and LeopardClan, and that these large guardians help guide others into StarClan and protect them.
I absolutely loved this idea and here is my interpretation of it.

Hi! First of all, love the AU and fic, I've been keeping up with it for about a year now and I love seeing new updates on it! Secondly, I was wondering two things... #1. Is Adderfang still Thistlestar's mentor in this AU? I don't believe we ever saw much of their Mentor-Apprentice relation in the fic if it existed, (likely because Adderfang hates Thistlestar so much xD) what was that like? Do you think Adderfang's reaction being so extreme was not only because he loves his daughter, but also because he felt betrayed at his former apprentice's actions? and #2. In Leopardstar's honor, a timeline is given for Mosspelt's pregnancy and relationship with Frogleap, and through another wonderful oversight by the Erins, Mosspelt apparently was pregnant while she was still an apprentice, from Frogleap, a cat who was ~4 years old. She gave birth around the same age as Spottedleaf had the Firesibs! I know that the BT timeline is a bit altered from canon, and that the fic pre-dates some later retcons from the series, like Volewhisper surviving. Is Frogleap having a predatory relationship with Mosspaw/pelt a thing that happened in BT? If so, what was that like for Mosspelt? Did she ever get any support in her hardships? did Dawnflower join the rebels out of a disdain for Thistlestar, knowing he has done terrible things like her father did as well? Anyways, that's about all. Sorry for such a long message! Thanks for putting so much time into your work and making such a great fic, and for taking the time to read my questions!!
yes Adderfang is still Thistlestar's mentor! i don't believe if it was ever mentioned in the fic or any one-shots, but he is lol. Adderfang's reaction was so extreme because Spottedpaw was his Precious Baby Girl and he very abruptly realized during the reveal how awful it was that someone in a position of power was getting with an apprentice (he would not have been so aggressive if this was a situation with a different apprentice and warrior---for example, Whitepaw and Goldenflower, or something. he cared and got protectively angry so much because it was his own daughter affected). the fact that Thistlestar was his own apprentice honestly didn't even cross his mind until it was over, and then it was just a very angry thought process of "i never taught him to be like that! (did i teach him to be like that?)" (yes, he taught him to be like that---not a predator, but he taught, unintentionally, Thistlestar to be more aggressive. remember, Adderfang was a part of Thistleclaw's groups that attacked kittypets for no reason.)
in BT canon, Mosspelt and Frogleap's relationship isn't touched upon much because I didn't realize how young Mosspelt was and also I'm not sure how much their age gap changes with the condensed timeline in BT lol. But! But! There are always hidden inappropriate relationships in the background (like, WillowTawny, although that's not really in the bg, but compared to SpottedThistle, GrassThistle, and DawnFinch, its not as prominent. also ShadeThistle is a bg bad-relationship. and i believe Cloudrunner x Morningflower would be one too, and there's definitely more. and future ones, like Snowbird x Scorchfur), so I do think Frog and Moss could be as it is in accidentally implied canon, where Frog groomed Moss. after all, most of RiverClan was pretty accepting of Thistle getting with Grass, weren't they? well, in general, it is---or was---unfortunately an acceptable part of clan culture. I do think that there is a multitude here; I think Frogleap is not as manipulative as Thistlestar, and cared more genuinely about Mosspelt and her emotions. While that does not make what he did okay AT ALL, I think Mosspelt did not experience as much negative emotions about the situation, and she doesn't perceive herself as being preyed upon. There are real life relationships like this, and they're definitely not ideal, and there's issues, but sometimes it just works out like that. i think there might have been issues down the line though, if Frogleap had survived, and Mosspelt had grown more as a person and developed differences in her personality than to how she was as an apprentice/young warrior. I'm getting "they died a happy couple, but if he had lived, she would have grown up and become more independent and he'd get upset at the changes, and then she'd divorce him" vibes
Dawnflower was one of Thistlestar's victims! it's mentioned a few times in passing that Thistlestar would 'go on patrol' with Dawnpaw, or look at Dawnpaw. actually, most young she-cats in RiverClan (Silverstream, Grasswhisker, Vixenleap, Shadepelt, Dawnflower, Primroseleaf, Feathertail, etc.) experienced some level of "creepiness" with Thistlestar. Dawnpaw/flower was one of the ones that Thistlestar would definitely say a bunch of weird shit to and touch her, but they never did anything past that. still, Dawnflower was scared shitless by him and terrified he'd do something she didn't want to him. she also just hated how aggressive/annoying Thistle and Lightning's rule was, so she left the instant she had an out (LeopardClan), though she was also really scared to leave her family/home behind, and worried for her siblings/friends. Dawnflower also definitely thinks of Frogleap (her dad) as a good warrior, and has no idea his and Mosspelt's relationship would have been similar to what she was experiencing (though, again, Mosspelt viewed Frogleap's attention as a much more positive thing, sort of like how Spottedleaf did with Thistlestar at the beginning. Meanwhile, Dawnflower was just always scared of his attention)
it's interesting, definitely, that Mosspelt stood against Thistlestar and what he'd done, yet never saw that she was victim to something similar too... though, to be fair, she joined LeopardClan because she supported Leopardfur as a close friend (through Frogleap) and knew Leopardfur was being unjustly accused, not necessarily out of a hatred of Thistlestar himself. much to think about...

The non-cats of Warrior cats! I was surprised how quickly I got these done. So first is the mythological Lionclan, with Goldenstar and his daughter Petalkit, and also Sunpelt fighting the big snake Mouthclaw. Then is the mythological Tigerclan, with Shadestar and Thorntooth, and the mythological Leopardclan, with Fleetfoot and Swiftstar. Rage and Fury are wild boars that Fleetfoot fights. Then is Midnight the badger and Sharptooth the mountain lion. After is the Pack Leader from TPB, and the Rat Leader from Firestar's Quest. I tried modeling the Pack Leader after a Beauceron. After them is Bunny, Pip, Samwise, and Spike. Bunny is from Pebbleshine's Kits, and lives with Bug. I gave them matching bows. Bunny is modeled after a Newfoundland. Pip is from TNP, and is modeled after a Russel Terrier. Samwise is from The Rise of Scourge and modeled after a Bloodhound, and Spike is mentioned by Eggs and Bacon in ASC, and is modeled after a Harrier. I don't really draw dogs too often but this was pretty satisfying to do.

The Ancient Clans
No, not the ones run by Thunderstar and the like. I mean the mythical ones! The Great Clans.
So, in WCR The Great Clans are still big cats, and associated with the seasons. Spring the Lion, Summer the Leopard, Autumn the Tiger, and Winter the Skeletal Cat.
They are also more like our own mythical creatures, which are going to be highlighted later on.
Lionclan was in a budding, flowering forest, always in perpetual newleaf. Their manes were literally made of sunshine, and glow with warmth, capable of growing plants wherever they wanted, as well as being so connectedto the sun they they slept in the trees, their bodies being so weightless that they could climb around in them without breaking a twig. They are thought of as having very light pelts with golden colourpoints. They are also thought to have given their mane or colourpoints to modern day cats.
Tigerclan's stripes were literally made of shadow, and they could move into the darkness completely, using shadows to travel around and hunt. They lived in an autumn forest and were known to also have strong claws, capable of slicing through light itself. Long claws and tabby stripes are associated with Tigerclan.
Leopards are though to have pretty pebbles kept in their thick fur, creating the image of spots, eventually blocking out the sun so much that it would create real spots in their "modern day descendants", cats. It also helped weigh them down when they would swim, their home being at the bottom of a hidden cave through the river. They are not thought to have had tails, either. They were known as having long, strong legs for running and swimming, which was good, as their home river was in extremely hot grasslands, in perpetual summer. Spotted, mottled fur is associated with them, as well as an affinity for diving.
The last of these is Frozenclan. They are said to have been the most humble of the Great Clans. Having named themselves after their permanently frozen hunting grounds rather than what they were. But due to this, no one knows WHAT they were. Some say they were pure white cats, with bodies made of snow to blend in. Some say they were pure black, and the way they moved confused prey too much for it to run. Some say they had huge, mighty paws that dispersed enough weight that they did not leave paw prints in the snow. They were also known to treat the bones of their prey with care, putting them in the river after being picked clean to be reborn. Hence, the massive Skeleton Cat, Winter.

Obsessed over the fact that the Erins created a whole mythology just to explain how wildcats would know animals such as lions, tigers and leopards, instead of just naming their warriors Sunheart and Talonclaw or whatever.
And then they decided to throw the whole mythology in the trash and draft a six-books arc centered around the real origin of the clans.
Which means there is absolutely no way as of now that the clans would know what a lion is. Or a tiger. Or a leopard.

After the war of clans...
A hush was placed over the whole of Mausmountain, even the marigolds that littered the scenery stopped. The dancing of the tree's leaves stilled. Crickets stopped singing in wait of something great, something never seen before.
Gentlefeather took this as a message to keep walking. Trees swamped the veiw to the left and right, leading her down a narrow path where Moonfalls lay. A delicate glow grew brighter and brighter as her paw steps sped up.
''Starclan is here.'' She whispered, finally a tail's length away from the rushing water. The waterfall's foam licked her paws as Gentlestar tentatively waded in. Nose reaching to touch the end of the waterfall, she was transported to a lavender and blue plains. Every passed on cat she once knew, and those she didn't were there.
A smokey grey tabby was making her way through the crowd. Catmint green and billowing was held from her right ear. One of her paws was missing.
''Mother!'' Gentlefeather ran to Wolverineleaf.
Using her tail to hold her mother close she cried, ''It's been forever since I last felt your warmth.''
''I could say the same to you my daughter.'' Wolverineleaf's face suddenly hardened. ''You must be confident now, walking alone or with your clanmates. I give you this life for confidence.''
A jolt of burning pain slashed into Gentlefeather, her legs trembling as she tried to stay straight. She could hear her mother's deep laughter.
''Walk on daughter, that was only the first one now.'' Gentlefeather touched noses with Wolverineleaf one last time before moving on to another cat, who she reconized as Antlerpaw. He was one of the paws she trained with. He had been killed when a tree fell upon him and Gentlefeather's mentor, Sandfeather. The incident had been the first time she ever cried, and begged starclan to save her mentor.
''Greetings Gentlefeather! I always found it funny how 'Gentle' was in your name when you were always so heavy pawed!'' He giggled and swayed as he approached her eagerly.
''Go on little one. I will recieve a life from you. Stars are basically falling from your pelt with excitement.'' Gentlefeather reached down for the little 'paw and smiled as the same hot pain rushed into her again.
''Thats for sympathy! Since you're so stoic HAHA!'' He ran away after that, bouncing after some orange kits that sadly were in starclan.
Starlingrunner and Mistyplume come forward together.
''I have endurence for you, new 'star. Mistyplume comes to bring you friendship in your time of leadership.'' Starlingrunner doesn't waste any time as she passes her gift to Gentlefeather, as does Mistyplume.
Starlingrunner dips her head in leave and Mistyplume shocks Gentlefeather by actually speaking, ''Good luck.'' Mistyplume's blue eyes dance as Gentlefeather remains shocked. Mistyplume's voice was restored!
Blueshell's brown tabby fur breezed by the two leaving she-cats. She placed a crow's feather by Gentlestar's paws and gave her a life for clear judgement.
Next was Driftdapple, a former kittypet Gentlefeather had found and saved from a swarm of rats. He was restored to his youth, as he lived the rest of his life with the clan after his saving.
''You have so much bravery little one, I shall give you a dependable heart for your bravery to rest on. Be scared and frightful no longer, and find relief in your choices.'' Driftdapple embraced Gentlefeather as his gift racked through her.
''Almost done, I promise.'' With a smile he sat by the rest of the beaming life-gifters.
Sandfeather, who she was named after sprang up, his once dull pelt now a sandy red. Tears brimmed in Gentlefeather's eyes.
''I see you named yourself after me huh?'' He jested.
''You saved my kits. Even when fire ripped you apart you saved them, and my whole litter.'' Gentlefeather buried herself into his chest, crying.
''Dear, I mentored your mother, your father, and then you. It was my destiny to keep your family safe.'' With that, he gave her a life for mercy.
Bluebellspeckle and his pretty forget-me-nots came up from behind her with a loud ''BOO!''
She turned on her paws, unknowingly pushing herself into his nose! Pain rushed once again through her.
''Got you! That one is for unity within the clan, and the other clans when needed!'' He placed a flower by the crow feather that was left for her. ''Keep this to show the medicine cat okay?''
Gentlefeather rolled her eyes and nodded, the pain numbing her maw.
''This is the last cat..'' Gentlefeather thought as she closed her eyes in wait.
''Are you really not going to look at me, Appleworm?!'' Briarstar's shrill voice rang through the clearing, her fur bristling. Briarstar tugged Gentlefeather's ear low.
''HEY HEY OKAYY!!'' One eye opened to see Briarstar licking one of her paws in fake annoyance.
''Come now kit, I have a life for you, and a good one too! And if you don't use it I'll be mad as a badger in winter!'' Briarstar lurched forward and touched the last life into Gentlefeather with her signiture tail strike!
Catching Gentlefeather-no, GentleSTAR, Briarstar mewed across the plains, ''EVERY CAT WITH A VOICE AND SOUL SING OF OUR NEW LEOPARDCLAN LEADER, GENTLESTAR!''
A chorus of mews and yells billowed loudly over every other noise in starclan.
''GENTLESTAR, GENTLESTAR, GENTLESTAR!''
Dizzy as a hit mouse, Gentlestar could only half-giggle before going to sleep next to all her life-gifters, and return to the real life, as GentleSTAR!

PROLOGUE - MOON 0
(ABANDONED STATION)
"Hello, Prance. Are you here to tell us of your dreams again?"
The old railroad station had been decommissioned for ages now, and had served as a home for the wanderers who had settled here. Plenty of prey, plenty of places to hide and sleep. Safe from the rains, as opposed to the fields just south of them, or the mysterious forests to the north. Indeed, the Station had just weathered another harsh winter, keeping all cats living within safe and warm…
In the darkness of an abandoned office, sat three cats. The eldest was a cream and orange tom, bronze eyes cold and calculating… he was laying across a rotting couch, licking his paws and grooming himself.
His companion, a long furred white tom with gray patches along his back, was sat up at the foot of the couch, heather blue eyes twinkling in the low light… he had been waiting for his favorite little underling to come back to him, to tell him about his special little dreams…
And said underling was the brown, speckled tom that sat before him.
Prance had been having strange dreams, and as some of the wisest cats at the Station, Lavender and Snapdragon had been the first cats he had told.
"Yes…I… I think the dreams are gonna come to an end soon."
Prance sat down on a mat by the couch, ears flattened slightly in worry.
He had started having dreams of a forest. Of a strange cat who called themselves Oakfire. Of how there was apparently real estate in the forest to the north of here, for a group of cats to take up the life of a Clan.
At first he dismissed the dreams as…dreams. Obviously they didn't mean anything. And yet, Oakfire found their way back into Prance's dreams, night after night after night.
After three instances of this, he had come to Lavender for help.
And Lavender had helped. So much.
The older Tom had been so kind, so understanding. He had asked Prance to talk about his dreams, what this Oakfire said. And not once did Lavender dismiss his dreams as silly. As mere fantasy. But he had listened. Truly and genuinely listened.
Prance had always been a nervous cat. But he would come by every morning after a dream, telling Lavender about a tidbit of clan life. The code, the way the warriors were named, their lifestyle… and how Oakfire had INSISTED that some few chosen cats should head north and go establish a Clan in a thicket somewhere…
"Well, Prance?" Lavender purred, tail swishing. "What did Oakfire have to say this time?"
"..." Prance shifted his paws, head bowed slightly. He met the older cat's level gaze with a nervous, furrowed brow. "...I…I was told that…"
"Yes?"
"That we… we should leave before it's too late."
"....Elaborate." Lavender did not like the way Prance was dancing around the issue. "Did Oakfire say that specifically?"
"Yes. He… He said that Twolegs-"
"Humans?"
"Yeah, them. They're… they're coming to… to tear the Station down."
The cream and ginger tom would finally sit up and pay attention, after having pointedly ignoring Prance since he came in.
Lavender sat still, ear flicking as he seemed to think… "...Did Oakfire… give us a timeframe? When will it be too late?"
"I…I think he said 'Before Greenleaf ends…we need to be gone.' I…I THINK that means summer? I really don't know, but…" the brown tom would look up to the now pacing Lavender nervously. "What… What are we going to do…?"
"We leave."
"What?!" Snapdragon, the eldest tom, would jump off the couch, bristling. "You can't be serious?!"
"I am QUITE serious." Lavender would reply, eyes flicking to Snapdragon. "Inform your mate, Snapdragon. We shall leave as soon as we can get an appropriate party gathered."
"You don't really believe this stupid kit's mousebrained dreams?!" Snapdragon would snarl, fur bristling as he swept a paw toward the now balking Prance. "You would abandon this safe haven on the off chance that this clan thing is legitimate?!"
"I can and I will, Snapdragon." Lavender did not move an inch, staring down his nose at the older cat. "You are more than welcome to not join us, old friend. But your skills would be sorely needed if we are to survive out there."
"Mouse dung, you're crazier than a half rabid fox…" Snapdragon groaned, rubbing a paw over his muzzle. "...Fine! But Lilia is going to throw a fucking fit. There's no way she'll agree to take the kits out into those godforsaken woods."
"Then steal them." Lavender would say, as if it were the easiest choice in the world. He turned his gaze towards Prance, purring, "Inform the residents that I will be holding a meeting tonight, in the middle of the Station. And advise them all to be there on time."
Prance nodded, ears still flattened from Snapdragon's outburst. "O-Okay… Okay, yeah s-sure!" He turned and immediately ran out of Lavender's den, leaving the two older cats alone.
"...Well." Snapdragon sighed, padding towards the exit. "Might as well get this over with. You better know what you're doing, Lavender. Or else."
"My dear friend, I ALWAYS know what I'm doing." The white and gray tom sat and began to lick and groom his paws. He had to be presentable for the Meeting.

Many cats called the Station home. Families, loners, old cats, young cats… so long as no blood was shed, cats were welcomed to live under its rusting beams and rat riddled halls.
Lavender would hop onto a collapsed human structure, something that had formerly held water called a fountain. Cats from everywhere in the main thoroughfare of the Station would be able to hear a speaker from there. And a Speaker could see an attack coming from a mile away.
"Good evening, everyone." He meowed, sitting up straight. The soft mumble and murmur of cat voices slowly died away as he continued. "I am Lavender, as many of you know. And I would normally not call so many of you from your lives but this bears sharing."
A pause.
"I have reason to believe that the Station is in danger."
More mumbling and whispering.
"Now. The Station is old. And it is a Human construct. It cannot last forever. And I have been informed by a reliable source that before summer ends, the Station will be no more!"
The gathered cats would immediately start to yowl and meow in a panic, asking if it was true, if they hadn't seen it coming…
"Yeah, alright, Lavender!"
A gold and yellow long furred she-cat named Mite would approach, hopping up to the ruined fountain's stone railings to sit down. Her tail flicked in irritation, eyes narrowed as she glared at Lavender.
"Mite." Lavender would sneer, tail flicking in annoyance.
"What sources do you have, huh?" She demanded, stomping a paw onto the hard stone… "I ain't seen any humans poking around here as of late! There isn't a single sign that this place is in danger!"
"Ah, none that the likes of you can see." Lavender purred. "You see, I have been having dreams! Visions, yes,  of a place north of here. A vast forest, abundant with prey and shelter. A more natural lifestyle, a place free of the fear of rats and the threat of humans! An ancient civilization of cats who came before us! Who lived with honor! Integrity! No longer scraping the bottom of humanity's barrel, but living as our own free cats!"
There was a lull, with many cats staring up at Lavender as he spoke …
"So it's a lie then?" Another laugh, as a tom came forward. This one, named Lake, was a white tom with black and gray Bengal like markings. He hopped up on the railing, purring in amusement. "Unless you had a reason not to tell us this sort of thing sooner?"
"The dreams started at the end of winter, just as the world was beginning to thaw." Lavender replied coolly, ear flicking in annoyance. "I have only recently been made aware of our dire fates. Surely I wouldn't have held this so close to my chest if it hadn't just been made clear!"
"Cut the dung, Lavender. This sounds like a ploy for you to try and curry favor with the masses, another lunge at leadership!"
A tuxedo colored speckled she-cat would hop up onto the railing, bristling.
"Burnet." Lavender snorted. "You and your self righteous talk. This has nothing to do with me!"
"And yet here you are talking about how these dreams came to you, filling your head with fluff about hunting out in the wilderness and risking our necks to the predators out there!" Burnet snapped. "The Station has been our home for moons and moons! It will not fail us for another several dozen moons, I can feel it!"
At this point, the cats started to yowl and argue, talking over one another and causing an unholy racket.
"ENOUGH!" Lavender yowled from atop the fountainhead's ruined surface. "Believe me or don't. I care not. But I was told this place was going to be destroyed by the time summer ended. So I am going to leave. In three days time, you are welcome to join me."
Lavender stormed off the stage, heading back to his den and leaving the gathered cats in a state of confused yowling and meowing.
Burnet, Mite and Lake all looked at one another, with Lake chuckling and taking up the vacant fountainhead. "Everyone, please calm down! I know that Lavender talks these sorts of things up, but I can assure you, there is no need to panic. There is no legitimacy to his claims. But should his dreams come to pass, then I promise you that I will gladly help those present relocate." He sat down, tail curled around him. "While I do not believe him, it would be remiss to completely disregard him as a mad prophet. After all, we cannot fathom the minds of humans, and they may very well be coming to demolish our dear home."
"Lake! What are you doing?!" Burnet hissed from her spot. "You're not helping!"
"Ah ah, let me finish." Lake raised a paw. "That is why, I am willing to assist in scouting out further territories for instances such as this. After all, while the station has always been our home, is there truly anything WRONG with finding back up homes for our kits? I personally would find peace of mind knowing that we knew what was out there, as opposed to being forced out without any direction!"
The cats around him murmured and mumbled, discussing his words.
"Very well. Mite, Burnet, you two are very capable, and I would like to request your assistance in this. Please, by all means, gather what cats you decide are worthy, and take them with you to patrol the areas around the station."
Mite would flick her tail in annoyance but nod. "Fine. Anything to get you to stop talking."
Burnet could only mrrp in amusement as she watched Mite stalk away. "Very well, Lake. Shall we meet up outside the station tomorrow?"
"Mm. Yes, yes. That should do nicely. Everyone! Thank you for your patience and allowing us to speak to you on this. I know the idea of leaving this place is one no cat wants to think about. But as untrustworthy as I think Lavender is, he brings up an excellent point. We must be ready for the worst case scenario. For now, I bid you all good night."

"Lavender!"
The mostly white tom would pause, turning back towards the voice. Prance would run up to him, panting.
"Ah, Prance." He would purr, tail flicking playfully. "Did you like that little speech?"
"But…why did you say that the dreams were yours? They're my dreams, Lavender!" He asked, eyes wide as he tried to make sense of the tom's choice. "I…"
"Pfth! Think of it this way, Prance." The older tom paced around the brown tabby. "Who would you believe? A young, impudent tom who barely qualifies as an adult in the eyes of most, or an older, respected member of the colony who only has the colony's best interests at heart? I had to claim the dreams were mine, Prance. YOU couldn't convince geese to fly south for the winter, with how you stutter and stammer. But hey, since you're still needed, I'll make you a deal." Lavender rubbed up against the younger tom, tail swiping under his nose. "In this new mess of a group, you can be my second in command. How's that sound? You can tell me all those cute little dreams, and I'll allow you some say in the way things are run."
"I…" Prance faltered, ears folded back. He was right. Lavender had a much better reputation than he did, as he was just barely out of kithood to most of the cats who lived in the Station. "..." He sighed, turning away. "...Fine. But only because I don't want you leading all these cats out into the wild to die."
"Your misguided morals and overestimation of your abilities are just adorable. Whatever the case is, be sure to get your affairs in order. We leave in three days time."

A little bit of warrior cats worldbuilding/rewrite infodump on tigerclan, lionclan and leopardclan.
They got the names in the first place from cats who had perhaps seen tiger/lions/leopards in a zoo? The first zoo in england did supposedly have tigers/lions. They almost definitely got them from housecats. Like they are considered superpowered cats or something?
Anyways lions, tigers, and leopards are nature spirits and considered the ancestors/patrons of the clans. (They are also what the three lake cat groups called themselves. In my rewrite the lake cats and the tribe (now known as the guild) are not related)
Lions are spirits of the sky. They are portrayed as expressive, charismatic, boisterous, and wilful.
Leopards are spirits of the water. They are portrayed as aloof, reflective, graceful and cunning.
Tigers are spirits of the earth. They are portrayed as ambitious, stubborn, insightful, and righteous.
[Image ID: A digital drawing of three big cats. The top one in based on a male lion, with golden fur and mane that seems to glow. It is in the middle of pouncing. The middle cat is based off a leopard with the markings of a clouded leopard. The fur is silver with the markings being lighter then the fur, made to look like water ripples. It is walking sideways while looking into the camera. The last cat is a dark brown tiger with darker stripes. From head to tail there is a gradient of dark to light, with the head dark enough that the stripes seem to disappear. It is in the beginning of a jump. / .End ID]

LeopardClan Glyph
Ancient LionClan, TigerClan, AND LeopardClan are getting something interesting soon. So I made mockup glyphs for each one to fit in with the written language I made.
So pick the glyph you like best for LeopardClan! (Also remember these are messy mouse sketches lmaooo they will look better later)
Tumblr media
[id: a warrior cat clan symbol with a winding, wiggly line in it like a meandering river.]
This is the easier glyph to carve, requiring only one claw.
Tumblr media
[Id: a warrior cat Clan symbol of several ovals stacked on each other, fattest in the middle. It resembles shine on water or a line of spots.]
This one is not as complicated as it seems: it's just TWO wiggly lines inverted on each other. The "pen" touches "paper" twice.

"Why did they introduce the ancient clans if they were never gonna use that world building again?" Literally it was just to have an excuse for Tigerstar, Lionheart and Leopardstar's names. That's it.
