okay i have reached needletail's death and suffice to say i'm disappointed with her nonexistent character arc and complete lack of dimension. so much wasted potential on her for fucking real. i feel so conflicted about her because i do think i could've actually liked her as a character if she was literally any amount better written but the way she exists in canon is just so flat and unappealing that it makes me strongly dislike her.
needletail had two character traits (rebellious + selfish) and a selfish, manipulative, take-without-return relationship with violetpaw—and absolutely no background, development, context, or conflict to justify any of it. her one singular "change" was just realizing Darktail Bad which i refuse to even call character development because it doesn't take any development of character to realize someone is bad once you have more information about them—it's clear that if she'd known how darktail acted prior to joining the kin, she never would've done it in the first place. ergo, no character development occurred to make her change her mind about it.
her sacrifice was meaningless because it was entirely out of character for her. she may have loved violetpaw to some degree, but at no point in their relationship did needletail make a single small sacrifice to her own comfort for violetpaw. she snuck out of camp with violetkit, sure, but needletail was sneaking out of camp anyway so she wasn't taking risks she wasn't already comfortable taking. she was a major reason why violetkit and twigkit were separated, she is the reason violetkit/paw got involved with the kin instead of going to be safe in thunderclan with her sister, etc. violetpaw got literally nothing in return for her love of needletail. so, back to the original point: needletail's sacrifice for violetpaw was a major, unprecedented shift in their dynamic. there was no leadup to it that showed she was starting to give more in the relationship in smaller ways that would've indicated she was becoming less selfish and more interested in a mutual relationship.
in my opinion, a better decision for her arc at that point would've been for her to listen to darktail and attempt to kill violetpaw. she hesitates, though, giving violetpaw a chance to run. needletail attempts to chase her down, but isn't fast enough, and darktail is interrupted by the attack on the kin's camp in riverclan and needletail skirts by under less suspicion since she did attempt to kill violetpaw.
i haven't read far past her death yet, but since she's dead canonically and there's nothing else left in her arc to work with, i'll offer a possibility for the continuation of this: eventually, she is reunited with violetpaw and claims that she never wanted to kill her and was just trying to help her escape and that they both made it out fine, so it's okay, right? and violetpaw, having been groomed by needletail's emotional manipulation since she was a kit, hesitantly forgives her. at that point, there would be time for needletail's character arc to continue, and for further conflict with violetpaw once she becomes a warrior and comes to realize all that needletail did to her. we could see needletail have an actual character arc in which violetshine eventually confronts her about their toxic relationship (and i want to be clear i'm speaking in a strictly platonic sense, in case that wasn't glaringly obvious), and needletail rejects the idea that she manipulated violetshine since she was a kit at first—then slowly realizes all that she did. but there are a ton of different roads her character could have taken if the sacrifice hadn't happened and this is just one potential path out of dozens.
i love these kinds of toxic relationships where one character is (potentially unknowingly) taking advantage of and manipulating a younger character who doesn't know better than to attend to the emotional needs of the older character. there's so much opportunity for conflict, betrayal, feelings of isolation within the relationship, recovering from trauma, realizing what exactly the older character did, eventually coming to be on equal standing when they're both mature adults and the older character having to face the consequences of what they've done. there was a lot of potential in their relationship and having needletail sacrifice herself out of nowhere did nothing but give a false idea of what their relationship looked like up to that point.
it would have also been majorly beneficial to give more background on how she came to be so opposed to living in the clans + following the rules besides just "idk she's just like that" and perhaps more details on why she so strongly desired a familial relationship with violetpaw (when she had two very much alive parents that she's never shown interacting with in the slightest?).
uhhh tl;dr i think i do actually like needletail as a character but the erins can only write a proper character arc like once in a blue moon and this was not one of those instances. justice for the narrative or whatever. these cats deserved better (or worse. in the characters' perspective at least.)

i wonder if part of the seeming-illiteracy i complain about when it comes to how fans understand many warriors characters is a product of how the series is compartmentalized?
people form an opinion on a character's actions in one arc, then they form an opinion of how they behave in another arc, and then they try to combine these two opinions -- and so if in the first arc, the fan's opinion is negative, then in the second, the character makes amends and grows, and the fan forms a positive opinion, the result isn't "this character did bad things and then grew as a person" it's "this character has done some good things and some bad things and should continue to be held accountable for all of the bad things"
a great deal of it is also the mindset that "sin"/any mistakes fudamentally stains you as a person, so no matter how much you repent or change, you are still a bad person -- and also that "bad thoughts" are, if not as condemnable as "bad actions", still something the character must be persecuted for and atone over. notice how these are both christian frameworks of wrongdoing.
maybe because we go back and forth so often in the timeline, we end up with this character-development-soup where any action a character took in the 4th arc is still just as relevant to who they are as the action they took in the 6th arc. it's hard to discuss "ivypool" when i don't even know if the people i'm talking to have read avos, tigerheart's shadow, the broken code, AND the Thunder excerpt, or if we're arguing over OOTS ivypool and one post they read on tumblr
an example of this timeline-soup fallibility in my own analysis is how i think about Blossomfall's age in comparison to Thornclaw's. i think of OOTS as "my era" because it's the series that was coming out when i got into the books as a kid. So, Blossomfall in my imagination is almost always OOTS Blossomfall.
Therefore, when I try to reconcile "blossomfall and thornclaw are a couple" with the OOTS Blossomfall that lives in my brain, alarm bells go off. It's hard to factor in the timeskip between OOTS and AVOS because i'm still subconsciously living in OOTS.
anyway, it's just something to think about

A few names from Warriors that are way cooler in the French translation:
(be warned, a lot of tail and stripe have been changed for linguistics reasons, tail being a slang word for penis and stripe sounding just weird. on the weird-sounding part we also have the frost, shine and pool ones) (oh and cloud was used as the -paw suffix translation so many of them don’t have it either)
Greystripe -> Plume Grise (or Greyfeather)
Darkstripe -> Eclair Noir (or Black/darkLightning)
Sorreltail -> Poil de Châtaigne (Chestnut/Sorrelfur)
Cloudtail -> Flocon de Neige (Snowflake)
Hazeltail -> Plume de Noisette (Hazelfeather)
Willowpelt -> Fleur de Saule (Willowflower)
Jayfeather -> OEil de Geai (Jayeye)
Stonefur -> Pelage de Silex (Silexfur, way cooler than Pelage de Pierre honestly)
Onestar -> Etoile Solitaire (now technically it can be considered a litteral translation, but a very litteral translation would have been Une-Etoile, which doesn’t fit the french naming system, so now Etoile Solitaire is more a loose translation, the litteral translation of it being... Lonelystar)
Nightcloud -> Belle-de-Nuit (Nightbeauty, which is also the name of a flower... and a very old slang word for high-end prostitute)
Cloudstar -> Etoile de Givre (Froststar, again the cloud pre/suffix was never translated as is)

another thing that really fascinates me about breezepelt and heathertail is that like. breezepelt, as a person, is so fundamentally self-centered. not even in a 'thats his flaw' way (although it is a flaw) but like.. it is clearly very difficult for him to ever see any situation from the perspective of others. his fundamental perception of the world is quite literally centered around his own experience of it and he has a very hard time trying to consider any other perspective. even when he does become a better person, he still like... not even prioritizes himself over others, so much as he frequently fails to consider other people at all.
whereas heathertail is a very, very empathetic person, but instead of that being a launching point for her to be better, it makes her just as neurotic and short-sighted as breezepelt, though in a different way. where he fails to consider others, she frequently fails to consider herself; not in a doormat way so much, but in the sense that heathertail struggles to develop any kind of self-identity that isn't based heavily on how other people see her. she considers other peoples' perspectives constantly, to the point that it's all she truly cares about and ultimately becomes psychologically harmful to her.
so even though we have very little of their canon adult dynamic, i still find myself obsessed with it because they do balance one another out so uniquely. it's like breezepelt is the id to heathertail's ego, and because of this they are truly capable of bringing out both the worst and the best in one another. breezepelt can encourage heathertail's worst instincts towards manipulation and cruelty, but he also can ground her, give her a sense of stability and support she rarely experiences from anyone else and help her learn to defend her sense of self. similarly, heathertail can enable breezepelt, becoming overly defensive of him due to her deep understanding of his circumstances, but she also often pushes him to be better and expands his perspective in a way he would not be capable of doing on his own.

hey so, so far in Thunderclan we've got a two male leaders then one female leader ratio, so here's my bet that after Bramblestar it will be a female leader.
Bear in mind I've stopped at DotC/The Last Hope (depending on if we're talking in publishing order or chronologically) so I've got no idea, maybe he's already dead and Lionblaze became leader or something.
Now tho, as for the female warriors I know of, who would make a good leader? (taking the Bramblestar's storm's allegiances from the wiki and listing all the females except for Sandstorm because I know she dies before Bramblestar Dovewing because apparently she leaves the clan?? and non-fighting cats)
Brightheart. She technically had an apprentice (Jaypaw) although not for long, but since it is not necessary that the apprentice finished their apprenticeship under their mentor before the mentor is made a deputy (see: Fireheart and Cinderpaw, Brambleclaw and Berrypaw, etc) it would be possible. Also, like, everybody around the lake knows how nice she is but it would be badass to have a clan leader with half their face missing because this is Warriors and not ''peace and love'' cats, so let's bring back scars as a real form of war-born beauty. Also, Brightstar would be a cool name. Cons: she is getting old.
Whitewing. It would be nice to have a supporting character become the leader. She has never (afaik) had a pov chapter. We know her but we don't. It would allow a LOT of exploration of the character instead of having an already well-known character become leader and have nothing else to say about it. Also, she would be a mother and a leader, although her daguhters are both adults.
Cinderheart. To see Cinderpelt's ''reincarnation'' go as far as to be a leader would be nice, plus the leader would be the Prophecy Cat TM's mate and not the prophecy cat himself. It would be nice to have a leader, like, favored by Star Clan but not at the core of a prophecy themselves.
Ivypool. A sign of alliance between the former Dark Forest trainees and Star Clan. A sign of forgiveness and unity for the clan. Also, she's badass. Cons: if her sister leaves the clan, it's starting to be a lot of background for one cat.
Rosepetal. A bit like Whitewing, it would be a cat we didn't explore yet, or not much. But we saw her as a kit then an apprentice through Lionblaze's eyes, and it would be nice to see how she evolved or what Lionblaze, Hollyleaf and Jayfeather represented for her growing up. Also, to see her have Jayfeather as a medicine cat would be nice.
Poppyfrost. OK, that one, I don't see much more interest than for Rosepetal or Whitewing (the novelty of her pov) but there is also the fact she is Berrynose's mate and since Berrynose can't, in our theory, be the next clan leader, it would be nice for his mate to be (for those won't don't know why Berrynose, it's because of the mentor-apprentice chain of leaders, Sunstar, Bluestar, Firestar, Bramblestar)
Blossomfall. I read somewhere that she was weak-willed or something, plus she's in a fragile state of mind concerning her family, so I don't think she would make a good leader. But Blossomstar does sound nice.
Cherryfall. Honestly don't know her enough.
Millie. Don't like her, but I would like to see her try to refuse to be renamed! Ha! She refused whatever name Firestar was about to give her, if Star Clan was starting to chant her new name after giving her nine lives (probably something like Silverstar or Greystar) she probably wouldn't refuse again. Yeah you get it I was pretty pissed she refused a clan name.
TL;DR: Brightheart, Cinderheart, Whitewing and Ivypool, all for different reasons, would be great, either for the role of leader or for the narrative potential of having them as leaders.

thinking about my stupid little sol expy again
ugghghhhhh i made him because i wanted an oc like sol but a clan cat so i didnt break the roblox warrior rp rules,,, but then he turned out to be so silly.....
at first i named him dawnstrike. for fun original points but then i went back to the sun- prefix because it's just that iconic
then i realized sunblight is literally so him (then someone stole it because they're like 6 or something) because he's sun-inspired, yeah, but also what is his light but not a blight at this point?
then a bunch of people voted me leader and i made him this tyrant figure (which was fun) but i dont think it was really genuine to his story/persona
unrelated: tigerstar = megatron ???? i can think about that later
also unrelated: the new post editor is janky on mobile. i dont like it
sunblight's hungry and that's the most basic bit about his character i can think of. he wants things, and when he gets them it's... empty? he became leader. it was everything he'd ever wanted. he lied, cheated, killed, swindled, and everything inbetwen to get there (lore? what lore?) and it still didn't fix him. silly man don't you know looking for things in the secular can't fulfill you? (again about my thoughts on religion, esp with starclan and all...)
is there choice for him, then? he was supposed to be great. he was supposed to be great. he was supposed to be great. and now that he sits on the Highrock over his decimated Clan, is he great? were his parents, mentors, leader, wrong? they couldn't have been wrong. he just needs a little more. more power, more prey, more fear, more intruige... and he'll be great.
then these kits come along and starclan gives his medicine cat some prophecy about them saving the clan from a tyrant? why would they need to do that? RiverClan is great RiverClan is powerful RiverClan is feared and RiverClan is strong and that's all that matters and he doesn't notice the fear they give him the whispers the plots because he is great and he has made his Clan safe. and that's all that matters.
um. anyways

Idk but I think Genos got those self-deprecating feelings EVEN after he saw what Saitama did for him through the core was because they got different expectations from each other.
Saitama cared about Genos as a companion, a loyal disciple who will always be with him no matter how bad he is, a righteous person who still follows justice in this mad world. Genos is the reason he keeps trying to be better to deserve, and so the person who kept him sane when he started seeing humans as insects. That's why he'd rather destroy the whole world if he saw his disciple be killed, his source for him to 'cling for support' be gone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's worried about Genos. He somehow wanted him to let go of his anger, to move on and live a peaceful life, rather than pursuing his revenge only to be destroyed. In other words, he's scared of losing Genos. (these panels were in the wc as well, but I love the idea that Saitama was haunted by Genos' death esp after seeing his dead core in the manga's MA arc)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It doesn't matter to him whether Genos is strong or weak. All that matters is Genos being there with him, as a human, not a robotic weapon.
On the other hand, Genos cared more about destruction power to fulfill his revenge purpose (Edit: and yes he also wanted to be stronger to protect other people, not like a helpless child he was 4 years ago). He sees Saitama as a 'symbol of strength' he wanted to follow, a person he admires, or worships to some point. That's why he'd be angry at anyone who looks down on his master or doesn't recognize his ability, also the reason why he follows the whole "notice me sensei" theme. (it's not like love and I want to deny this)
Tumblr media
Plus he couldn't hear Saitama's thoughts from those memories as how lucky we were. He didn't know Saitama got that level of power JUST because the master had experienced such extreme emotions when he'd seen his disciple's death. All Genos perceived was -Saitama's power was so out of this world that he literally sneezed out a whole planet. That power, compared to his punch that blew a mountain range, is on a different level.
About the core touching scene, maybe from Genos' view this could just mean his master trying to encourage him, like he's always been doing despite how terrible it was in the latest chapter. And it was not because Saitama actually acknowledged his progress. He's that kind of person who always yearns for the better and therefore exhausts himself no matter how much other people told him to relax. I couldn't think of any proper explanation for it. I hope this makes sense.
I sure missed something, but I'm always a sucker for idjits who don't know how much they love each other, or at least, from Saitama's side only.

OPM Manga Update 230 Review: Updates
Summary
This is the sort of chapter we've not had in too long: the sort that zips along, catching us up on what's been happening. Finally, the long, dark nightmare of Tatsumaki's tantrum begins to fade. (No, it's not that it's that bad, but 2 chapters would have been plenty).
We start with Flashy Flash trying to find God. No, Manako, who's the next best thing to God. By asking monsters. He's getting nowhere fast, which is anathema to our speedster so he decides to enlist Saitama's help, after he polishes him up. Because what Saitama truly needs in his life is a random drop-in master.
Tumblr media
Anyway, on we go. Much less inflated, in both ego and body, we have Tank Top Master. He has finally worked off the fat (phat?) boost that Fubuki gave him. He misses the strength it came with but the rest of the gym like s him back to his old shape. Speaking of the reset, there aren't many Tank Toppers left: many have retired in the wake of the Monster Association showdown. Tank Top Rockabilly starts to curse their cowardice, but Tank Top Master stops him, pointing out that what mattered were those who still showed up. Besides he had a feeling about tank tops -- and on cue, three C-Class heroes come in to sign up as new recruits.
Tumblr media
Also in a gym but much less happily, we see Super Alloy Darkshine trying to do what he's done so many times before: work off his insecurity. It isn't doing much for him, and, as he peels off his shirt, we see the livid scars left on his torso and hands. He reflects that he simply cannot quell the fear he feels at the rethought of fighting again. We close out this scene with Captain Mizuki watching him with concern.
Tumblr media
The camera moves again (yes, yes, I know -- bear with me; there's method to my madness) and we watch the biggest, fuzziest chick mascot you ever did see help little children cross the road safely. Yes, it's Phoenixman, or Chick Man as he's now known. He catches sight of Child Emperor across the road and the two repair to a cafe. He explains to a very wary Child Emperor that even though he's no longer a chick-sized man, but a man-sized chick, his powers haven't returned and he ekes out a living doing good. Kids love him! It's not too bad at the moment, so what does Child Emperor want with him? Child Emperor wastes no time getting to the point: he wants to know what the monster knew about the bad things happening at the HA, and how.
Tumblr media
Feels like just a few days ago since we left Monster Chick Man cheeping in the rubble -- don't they grow fast? Speaking of fast-growing things, we have a problem in City Y. Yes, this is the city where Child Emperor has his lab -- looks like he's too busy interrogating monsters to look after his patch, and in his absence, we have an invasion of trees. Sentient moving trees announcing their divine purpose to restore the Earth's soils to their former fertility -- by using people as fertilizer. We see three heroes trying to cut them down (or blow them up), setting up a smokescreen to confuse the monsters but they're quickly snared by the tree roots. It looks bad, but then Tank Top Master and several of his Tank Toppers come barging through. Tank Top Master urges the heroes not to sit there but to join them in their charge. They charge forward, sending tree monsters flying and it's all looking good until...
Tumblr media
...obscured by the smoke, they run straight into the Forest King himself. The monster wastes no time picking up the heroes and, starting to squeeze the lives out of them, announces the arrival of new fertilizer.
Tumblr media
Of course, a hero always knows how to pick their moment, and in that moment, all the plant life in the boulevard, even the vines choking the buildings disappear in a flash. Out of that smoke appears a very familiar silhouette. Declaring himself satisfied with Dr Kuseno's work, Genos tells the monster and heroes that he wants a new spar with Saitama (talk about non-useful information!) But first, he had some trash to get rid of. And that is the end of the Forest King, gone too fast to be worth panelling.
We close with a very excited Genos showing his nice new parts to Saitama, who appears to just about have noticed there's something different about his disciple again.
Tumblr media
Correction: we close to the Tank Toppers working out frantically to catch up to machine power. Can't call Tank Top Master a quitter.
Meta below the cut.
Meta: So much to catch up on
You know, I was happy to see Flashy Flash looking for Manako... at least until I heard his reasons for it. If he'd protested to someone that he was just looking for her as a witness too valuable to let some random hero kill, I'd have smiled and called him tsundere. As this is him musing to himself, I'm much less reassured. There's something I find deeply untrustworthy about that ninja.
Tumblr media
People are like tea bags: you never know how strong they are until they're in hot water
Another chapter, another hero group, another shakedown. Earlier, we had seen the Blizzard Group shaken down to the few members who truly believed in what Fubuki did and were willing to seek to grow stronger in their own rights rather than just propping her ego up. This time, we're seeing a shakedown of the Tank Toppers. The good thing about the Tank Top Army is that with its policy of hard work, wearing tank tops, and just doing one's best, it's not as politically scheming as the Blizzard group and has the advantage that people there really do want to work together to do some good. However, a lot of them have also been hiding behind a Class S hero to get points (and wins) easily. With the long night of the Monster Association raid and all it pulled out of them, it looks like many have honestly looked at themselves and realised that they aren't going to be able to give the world what it needs. Tank Top Master respecting that a hero can only give what they can and letting them leave without rancour or ill word is a real credit to the man.
Tumblr media
I've seen Tank Top Master called the Mumen Rider of the S-Class. I don't know if I'd go that far, but he's certainly the sort of guy one could describe as having no side. He's very much of the what-you-see-is-what-you-get persuasion. I loved how he shone in the Monster Association raid. For me the single most impressive thing was him cutting through Mumen Rider's self-deprecating routine and making him the de facto leader of the local rescue operation. And Mumen rose to the occasion without question. Tank Top Master really does know how to pull the best out of people.
Tumblr media
This chapter is no exception when he refuses to berate the heroes who have been trapped by the tree monsters and urges them to get up and press on. Life is been tough for Tank Top Master, but heroism isn't measured in wins and losses: it's not a game, but a belief in doing the right thing whatever the odds. I would like things to go well for him sooner rather than later, but as long as his tank top is strong, let's watch him and cheer him on.
Tumblr media
It's all in how you see it
Something that's too big and too long a topic to deal with here is the role of the subjective in One-Punch Man. ONE did set out to make OPM not a story with a single definitive narrative, but rather one told through multiple viewpoints, and it seems to exist at all levels of the story. Even the idea of a person turning into a monster is based on that person's subjective view of themselves and their place in the world. So it shouldn't be surprising that there appears to be a lot of characters with body image problems, one shown most graphically by Darkshine. Whether the scars on his body are as livid as they appear to him to a third party is irrelevant: to him, they're there, and all the trauma and shock of having the skin he trusted to keep his fragile self safe being breached is right there in front of him. His donning a t-shirt so as not to see it in the gym mirror is painful to see indeed.
Tumblr media
I'd love to say something about Phoenixman/Chick Man but it escapes me for now. In the meantime, I have only questions. How the hell did he grow back to man-size so fast? What exactly has happened to him to so comprehensively depower him? Why is he able to be accepted as a mascot in society? Are there no background checks? Like Child Emperor, I find myself very curious but not one whit trusting.
Tumblr media
Back to the grind
I'm not going to say Genos is back. He's been around in the aftermath of the Monster Association raid, helping Saitama find their old apartment, terrorizing the Hero Association, and just hanging out. He's appeared in reasonably good spirits and decent health, and yet, this is a return of sorts. It's more like he's come off sick leave and returned to work.
Tumblr media
I know people like to pretend to know nothing for argument's sake, but if you've ever burned wood, you know that wet wood is not easy (or advisable to burn): you need dry wood to get a fire going. Living wood is 60% water and takes a lot of energy, such that to get a forest fire you need high temperatures, prolonged dry weather conditions, and a lot of dry underbrush to keep the fire going… and even there many trees don't burn fully. So for a forest of living trees to not just burn up but to be ASHED in a flash, like they're made of gun cotton speaks to a truly terrifying power.
Tumblr media
I'm unsurprised that Genos can do that, and crush a dragon-level monster like it's a bug -- it's been clear he's got the power for a while but it's nice to see him consolidate his hard-won gains.
That said… what the heck is he so keen to show Saitama? I have no idea what Genos thinks he's got to show Saitama that will impress the latter. If nobody else knows, he knows the absurd heights of power from which Saitama looks down on the world. He knows too that Saitama sees him and thinks well of him. And yet he's eager to spar him. Okay, kid. Just don't embarrass yourself, that's all I'm asking.

love thinking about naming trends in the warrior cats universe. like some parents being literal like spottedleaf and redtails parents. or the ones who name after physical/other characteristics like heavystep or longtail. or honor naming, but i feel like every series and their mother does that. or matchy matchy parents like mintfur and sagenose. or thinking about “new age” type moms who come up with it on the spot/it having to do with the birth (crookedstar was originally named stormkit for the storm that shook the oak tree he was born in. oakheart.) just thinking about queens talking about it like how moms do on name forums. so so interesting

I’ve kinda been looking at her most recent work (*new* folklore/evermore/Midnights) as stuff she may have been thinking about again during re-recording for a while I thought maybe it was a stretch but WCS really made me believe it again. Like even if it isn’t as direct as WCS like maybe just the feeling of revisiting inspired something similar and maybe it’s not even directly about her even if all her music is about her ~does that make sense?
i absolutely think midnights came about partially because she was revisiting and healing parts of her past. the mental image i have of midnights is that she's almost like... calling back or responding to her past self. dear john and wcs are good examples, and so are yoyok and dear reader, midnight rain and so much of fearless or the other re-records, etc.
as a result, midnights is like... uber-meta. not only is she writing midnights about her past, she did so while literally rerecording songs from her past. so much revisiting, so many new and old insights, etc.

The staunchest difference I could think of between webcomic Saitama and manga Saitama when it comes to their relationships is that if you ask webcomic Saitama if he has friends he can't answer but if you ask manga Saitama he'll say yes.

Obsessed over the fact that the Erins created a whole mythology just to explain how wildcats would know animals such as lions, tigers and leopards, instead of just naming their warriors Sunheart and Talonclaw or whatever.
And then they decided to throw the whole mythology in the trash and draft a six-books arc centered around the real origin of the clans.
Which means there is absolutely no way as of now that the clans would know what a lion is. Or a tiger. Or a leopard.

todays warrior cats thought is brought to you by me hiding in my closet for about 14 hours straight and staring at my bramblekit 'hang in there' poster for half of it. I know every single character in this goddamn series is traumatized but tbh it seems weird to me that people act like it's somehow character regression for Brambleclaw to doubt his loyalties or behave like such an anal perfectionist in TNP as though that isn't a pretty direct consequence of how he was treated in TPB. People act as though the only negative influence in Brambs' life was Tigerstar and everyone else was a perfect parent/guardian figure and there's just some Evil Gene that Brambleclaw inherited to make him a jerk. As though one of the main cats who he relied on for guardianship as a young child didn't want him to constantly prove his goodness and inherent worth and still doubt it even when Bramblepaw managed to pass every test and display extreme maturity in the face of an unfair situation. No matter how good Firestar's intentions were, he fucked up with Bramblepaw. And it makes perfect sense to me that an adult Brambleclaw, when feeling triggered and rejected, would seek out his bio father for support given that at that point he probably has few living memories of Tigerstar except for being sneaked out to visit him in ShC (proof that he cared!) and everything he's been told about Tigerstar - by the same cats who are currently mistreating him. None of this to say that any of Brambleclaw's own shittiness is justified, but it's certainly not out of the blue.
