Macchanu from Hindu mythology.
As per these versions of Ramayana, during one of the battles with Ravana's army, Hanuman encounters one powerful opponent, who looked like vanara from waist-up but had tail of a fish. After a fierce battle, as Hanuman was about to hit the creature with his weapons, a golden star shining in the sky above, reveals that the enemy, whom he is going to harm is his own son born by his union with Suvannamaccha, the mermaid daughter of Ravana. Hanuman, immediately holds his weapons in mid-air and father-son duo recognize each other.
Another version of story tells, while following Maiyarab in order to find Rama and Laxmana, who have been abducted by Maiyarab and taken to his kingdom in netherworld, Hanuman reaches a pond, where he encounters Macchanu. The fight between them is indecisive, therefore, Hanuman is surprised and asks his opponent, who is he. Macchanu introduces himself as son of Hanuman and Suvannamaccha and so they finally identify and embrace each other. He tells Hanuman that Maiyarab is his foster father, who had picked him up lying on sea shore, where his mother had left him. Although, he does not want to betray Maiyarab but tells Hanuman through a riddle the entrance to the netherworld lies inside the lotus in the pond he was guarding.

Importance of Ramayan
HI,
Ramayan is a book of ideal behaviour. Even when there were painful twists in the story of Rama's life, there was a lesson to learn. Here are the 5 ethical lessons that we can take from Ramayana.
Ramayan is an epic is an eternal source of guidance to mankind about how to live life in a manner such that it benefits society and commits no acts that one lives to regret later.
Lord Rama is ideal human n teaches us to be ideal too
Reading stories from the great epic written by sage Valmiki about the principled prince (and later King) of Ayodhya to children at an impressionable age will give them the perspective and direction in life.
If one were to observe closely, the Ramayan gives us a number of lessons in ethics
1. Family is important Prince Ram was all set to be anointed the King soon, being the eldest of the four sons of the King of Ayodhya. Yet an otherwise loving step-mother Kaikeyi was unnecessarily instigated into obstructing the path to Ram's ascendance. But Lord Ram did not behave bitterly towards anyone, including the step-mother. He kept his father's promise which he could have easily side-stepped. Father's honour became a question of his own honour. This kind of bonding and positive attachment between members of the family can finally make all things come full circle.
2. Be careful of temptations In exile, Ram, Sita, and Laxman were living a peaceful existence, in harmony with nature. When Lankan king Ravana arrived with his uncle Marich whom he asked to pose as a golden deer, that changed everything. Sita was completely charmed by the golden deer and asked Lord Ram to catch it for her to befriend. Lord Ram went after it and disaster struck soon after. The lesson here is to not run after sudden allurements, to value what you have instead of leaping into the unknown.
3. Follow instructions, don't alter plans arbitrarily When Rama went after Maricha the Golden deer, he clearly instructed Laxman to watch over the wellbeing of Sita. He warned him to not leave Sita alone even for a moment, come what may. But soon Marich and Ravana played another card. The Golden deer was actually the demon Marich - uncle of Ravana - who as per the plan, screamed in Rama's voice "Save me Laxmana". Sita and Laxman heard that but Laxman was not ready to move. Sita cried and asked him to go save her husband. Laxman left but drew a Laxman Rekha - an electrification kind of line beyond which no one can go to her. Sita was told to not overstep that line for whatever the cause. Laxman left to know Rama's fate. Here Ravana, dressed as an old sage arrived and beckoned Sita to step across and give him charity. Sita felt compassion for the old man seeking alms. She stepped across the line and was abducted by the able Ravana.
4. Ram Setu showed even the smallest animal matters Shri Ram's bridge across the sea was built by monkeys and very little human effort. In fact, a squirrel is said to scurry to the construction with whatever amount of dust she could muster on her back. She added her two ounces of effort to the mammoth bridge. Ram is said to have been impressed and caressed her back - giving her the stripes.
5. Respect your enemy With Ravana's death at his hands imminent, Ram had no animosity left for him. The war was for the rescue of Sita - the wife of Rama - whom Ravana had abducted. Despite diplomatic approaches, Ravana had not relented and hence the war. In death, Ram honoured his enemy as another human. He was given a proper funeral. Ram had even asked Lamana to learn statecraft and spirituality from Ravan

RAMAYANA - Something worth reading for introspect over again and again
R_A_M_A_Y_A_N_A
‘ Ra ’ means light, ‘ Ma ’ means within me, in my heart.
So,Rama means the Light Within Me..
Rama was born to Dasharath & Kousalya.
Dasharath means ‘ 10 Chariots ’..
The ten chariots symbolize the 5 sense organs( Gnanendriya ) & 5 organs of action( Karmendriya ) ..
Kousalya means ‘ Skill ’…
The skillful rider of the 10 chariots can give birth to Ram..
When the 10 chariots are used skillfully,
Radiance is born within..
Rama was born in Ayodhya.
Ayodhya means ‘ a place where no war can happen ’..
When There Is No Conflict In Our Mind, Then The Radiance Can Dawn..
The Ramayana is not just a story which happened long ago..
It has a philosophical, spiritual significance and a deep truth in it..
It is said that the Ramayana is happening in our Own Body.
Our Soul is Rama,
Our Mind is Sita,
Our Breath or Life-Force ( Prana) is Hanuman,
Our Awareness is Laxmana and
Our Ego is Ravana..
When the Mind (Sita),is stolen by the Ego (Ravana), then the Soul (Rama) gets Restless..
Now the SOUL (Rama) cannot reach the Mind (Sita) on its own..
It has to take the help of the Breath – the Prana (Hanuman) by Being In Awareness(Laxmana)
With the help of the Prana (Hanuman), & Awareness(Laxmana),
The Mind (Sita) got reunited with The Soul (Rama) and The Ego (Ravana) died/ vanished..
In reality, Ramayana is an eternal phenomenon happening all the time…

Rama hunts Maricha. Maricha was assigned the task of luring Rama and Laxmana away from Sita. In their absence Ravana planned to abduct a defenseless Sita and carry her away to his kingdom in Lanka. Maricha magically transformed into a beautiful golden deer, and grazed near Rama's forest dwelling so that he could be spotted by Sita. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn4P4tEqmcS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Gupt Godavari - A Secret River & Mysterious Caves in Chitrakoot
Tumblr media
Chitrakoot, a renowned location from the era of Ramayana, is spread across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Commonly known as the 'hills of many wonders, the area is mostly made from ancient lava fields and large stretches of woods interspersed with rivers. The town also enjoys a spiritual legacy incomparable to any part of the country. Dotted with temples and religious tourist spots that are linked to Rama, Bharat, Hanuman, and Sita, Chitrakoot attracts pilgrims throughout the year.
One such spot, Gupt Godavari, was developed by a strange phenomenon that took place about 65 million years ago. It is a long, narrow crack developed in the earth's surface due to hot and molten lava oozing out and spreading across the surface. When the lava cooled, it formed flat-topped plateau-like structures.
Ramayana Chapter
It is believed that the Gupt Godavari is the place where the peeping-tom monster, Mayank, tried to spy on Sita while she was bathing in a pool. Enraged by his action, Lakshmana petrified him and stuck him to the roof of this cave. Today, that place is an outcrop of black rock protruding from the paler roof of the cave.
The fairly narrow mouth of this cave opens out into a large cavern with two interesting features, one of them being a cave with black rock. The second feature is known as Sita Kund, a small pond in which Sita was bathing when Mayank tried to spy on her.
Not to be missed! The two-cave system inside a mountain is always filled with knee-high water. The bigger cave, with two stone, carved thrones, is considered to belong to Rama and Laxmana. The second cave connects with the story of Sita Kund.
Chitrakoot with its major significance in the Ramayana, witnesses a major share of pilgrims in the heart of Incredible India. Among all the tourist places in Chitrakoot, Gupt Godavari holds an exceptional level of prominence. The caves also boast intricately carved sculptures of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.
Source of Godavari
Outside the cave, a stream is said to flow that originates from several little springs that flow from the mountain. Pilgrims that seek spiritual benefits are often seen walking the length of the stream and exiting through the mouth of the lower cave. As per legend, River Godavari flowed from Nasik to this place simply to have a glimpse of Rama. The Gupt or the hidden Godavari emerges from the cave, flows into a pond, and vanishes underground.
While you visit this mythological city, make sure to explore the hills of Maihar, meet the White Tiger at Mukundpur, and explore the widlife of Panna National Park.
Visitor Timings: - 7 AM to 6 PM
How to Reach?
Situated in the Satna region of Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, Chitrakoot is easily accessible from Khajuraho and Jhansi. The nearest airport is at Khajuraho approximately 175 km, while the nearest railhead is at Chitrakootdham (11 km) on Jhansi-Manikpur main line. Apart from this, regular bus services also connect Chitrakoot with Jhansi, Mahoba, Chaitrakootdham, Harpalpur, Satna and Chhatarpur.
