William S Burroughs,  Allen’s last visit to Lawrence, KS,  November 4, 1996, and one of Allen’s last photos of William.  Hard to believe it’s been 25 years since he passed away in 1997. From his last journals, which lines we’ve posted before, but never tire of reading: May 31, Saturday: That vile salamander Gingrich, squeaker of the House, is slobbering about a drug-free America by the year 2001. What a dreary prospect!... How I hate those who are dedicated to producing conformity. For what purpose? Imagine the barren banality of a drug-free America... The entire area of dissent exorcised like a boil... How good will it be to have total conformity? What will be left of singularity? And personality? And you and me?... June 6, Clom Fliday: I wonder about the future of the novel or any writing. Where can it go? After Conrad, Rimbaud, Genet, Beckett...and... Paul Bowles and Jane Bowles. With Paul there was a sinister darkness like underdeveloped film.... What is left to say? Oh, I forgot Graham Greene. "The Power and the Glory." ...He killed himself with vanity and self-inflation and then the balloon ruptured... Back to writing... Maybe, on the basic level of truth, there just isn't any more to say... Why go on?... August 1, Fliday: Love? What is it? Most natural painkiller. What there is. LOVE. Alderstar’s last words were:
Tumblr media
Amidst all of it--the weight crushing against his spine, his lungs struggling to gain air, his legs flailing, his claws digging desperately at the surrounding dirt--was a familar scent. It was a lovely smell, one of warmth and affection. At the same time, it reeked of despair. Gasping in pain, Alderstar became more and more aware of the presence pressing comfortingly against the part of his body that wasn’t covered by the tree. She licked between his ears, just as she would do when he was a kit. Even through it and his agony, Alderstar could feel her sickness-- sickness of him, for what he had done, for who he had become. He had disappointed her so much. “Mom?” he asked, not entirely sure if she was even there at all. He had lost many lives already, and wondered how many left were to go. “Please don’t be mad at me.”

IMPORTANT-My lasts words [#mf02]
Tumblr media
On a stormy transatlantic flight I search for the right words - what if this would be the last word from me ?
#lastWords #findGrace #transatlanticFlight From Max Fichtner @maxfichtner who wrestles his last words for the www.kraftwerk.blog
Somewhere over the Atlantic
As I write these lines and struggle for words, it is the middle of the night. About a quarter to four, according to European time. I am in a huge, modern Boeing aircraft somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. I'm listening to "wish you were here" on my headphones, thinking of my sweetheart back home and wishing I was with her.
In the storm
At the same time, our airplane is flying through a storm front and is being shaken vigorously. The film on the small TVs has already been interrupted to show us again which safety measures we have to take in case of an emergency - not an uplifting feeling. #airplane #stormfront
My struggle for words
But such moments are a good time to write a special post (web post). What should I write if it was the last post of mine? What if I had something to post just one more time, one last time? #preachers, like me, always have something to say and can give huge lectures on insignificant trivia. We always playfully manage to get lost in trivialities and details. But what if I should say the most significant and important thing of my message in some very short and at the same time very clear sentences? That is difficult. Therefore, here is my attempt:
Discover the "Land of Rest“
Discover the great mystery of the Christian faith. Discover the intense peace that leads our heart and soul to a deep rest. You have at any time, at any moment of the day, the choice between being "in the Spirit" or "in the flesh". Or in other words, to live in the "land of rest" or in your "own works". Phrased still differently (by author Paul Ellis, among others); "in grace" or "in the law". All of these formulations mean the same thing. There are two states of choice facing each other that could not be more extreme. #grace #landofrest #paulellis .
The difference is physically noticeable
The difference is physically noticeable and is also perceived by friends and family. After all, it is the visible and tangible difference whether someone is stuck in the "hamster wheel of life" or is traveling in the serenity of God's presence. At the same time, every Christian has the choice at any time of the day in which of these constitutions he is on the road. Therefore, if this were my last message, I would formulate an invitation: Seek with all your strength and highest priority the "land of rest," the "life in grace," the "life in the Spirit." There is nothing more important in the life of a Christian. Therefore, these would be my ideal last words. Read the full article

His father’s last words strengthen his game — both on the turf and in life. “For the longest time, I lived my life scared just seeing what he went through,” remembers golfer Sam Bennett. At age 23, he’s a rising star in amateur golf. He held back because he was afraid of the next step. That’s because, in June 2021, Sam’s father lost his battle w...

Thomas Edison’s last words were “it’s beautiful over there”. I don’t know where there is, but I believe it’s somewhere, and I hope it’s beautiful.

Planecrashinfo.com
Tumblr media
Continuing the conversation from the last post: I’ve chosen to highlight the website planecrashinfo.com for our second post in the category of “Haunted Digital Spaces with Connections to Real World Events.”
Planecrashinfo.com is a website that documents different plane crashes and compiles the crash information for the public. This information ranges from basic details about the crash: date, airline, type of plane, number of fatalities all the way to photos of crashes and audio recordings of pilots’ last words.
The site is undeniably eerie. From its bright blue and white background to the colorful images of wreckage and plane debris, planecrashinfo.com is a study in contradictions. At first glance the site looks like an old blog page for plane enthusiasts. And in truth, for the aviation inclined person, the site is a smorgasbord of interesting facts and a great resource for statistical data mining. Upon closer examination, however, a much more tragic story and haunting story starts to be revealed. Nestled in amongst words like “Database” and “Statistics” on the navigation menu, are links to the “100 Worst,” “Famous Deaths,” and “Last Words.”
In particular, the “Last Words” section of the site reveals a darker and sadder reality to planecrashinfo.com. On the “Last Words” page visitors can listen to or read the transcripts of the Cockpit Voice Recordings from different plane crashes. These recordings contain the last words of the pilots who were lost in these crashes. Some of the pilots’ final words are hopeful as in the case of a 1980 Saudi Arabian Airlines pilot, whose last words were “No need for that, we are okay, no problem.” Others are confused. Both the 1972 Eastern Air Lines pilots and the 1983 Korean Airlines pilots asked “What’s happening?” in their final recordings. The scariest and most pathos provoking recordings, however, are those from pilots who had seen the writing on the walls. In 1969, Ariana Afghan Airlines ended their recording with “We’re finished.” A pilot from the 1978 Pacific Southwest Airlines crash sent a message to his mother as his last words, “Ma I love you.”
These recordings are fascinating, yes. And they invoke a kind of sickly thrill, the kind that turns your stomach but relentlessly draws your attention. However, like our previous post about heavensgate.com, this website and its macabre recordings raises some very important ethical concerns.
These were intense, private moments for these pilots, making their inclusion on the site questionable. Their fear, panic, and pain is on exhibit for anyone with an internet connection to view. Likely many of these recordings are public record, meaning there is no legal issue here. However, would these people have consented to have their last moments posted for everyone to see if they had had another option? And what of the family members and loved ones of these pilots? Did they consent? Do they even know?
The internet encourages a voyeuristic fascination with death and violence. Knowledge about it, images, videos, recordings are all widely available and accessible and this can make it hard to tell when it goes too far. A site like planecrashinfo.com is an informative and, in some ways, educational site. However, there is also the potential for it to be exploitative, not just towards the pilots who lost their lives, but also to any other victims involved in these crashes.
Because of this, it is important to have open discourse surrounding these kinds of topics on the internet. Maybe there is no right or wrong answer, but in encouraging people to ask questions and be cognizant of possible ethical issues, we can better avoid situations in which vulnerable people, their deaths, or their stories are exploited or disrespected.

A Last Word at Last Word and a Gibson at Gibson. Two of my favourite cocktails, and so I just HAD to try them at the bars named after them. Happily, both were superb. I liked the laid back vibe at The Last Word.(@lastwordsg), with its nice long sitting bar and friendly atmosphere. My experience at Gibson (@gibsonbarsg) was a blur though, cos it was my last stop of the night and it was PACKED. But it was nice to see @woofyinying and @the_joepeg there! #tipsyturvybars #mytipsyturvy #singaporebars #sgcocktailbars #cocktails #cocktailbar #cocktails #tipsyturvycocktails #gibson #lastword https://www.instagram.com/p/CpJzMfppx7y/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Cheers! #elyx #drinkoftheweek #lastword #ultimapalabra (hier: ELYX coffee & bar) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpA1AIdtMeo/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
