AN- I don't know about a fanfic but here are a few headcanons for it...

Being Rhaenyra's Daughter and taking Aemond's eye...

Part 2

Being Rhaenyra Targaryen and Harwin Strong's first daughter and Jacaerys little sister. Being their first daughter meant that you were loved and cared by them; spoilt rotten by your mother and learning sword from your biological father.

Growing up with the Greens meant that you had a love-hate mostly hate relation with Aemond Targaryen.

You would tease him about not having a dragon, also being a part of 'The Pink Dread' prank. Though you had felt bad later, you were proud enough not to apologize.

You were to inherit Driftmark after Laenor. Lord Corlys Velaryon and Princess Rhaenys had decided that your gender won't matter in the inheritance.

You were quite close to Helaena, having shared classes by the Septa with her. But that was until your family shifted to the Dragonstone.

The news of Harwin's death saddened you tremendously, and you and your family had to travel to Driftmark for Laena's funeral.

You had tried to console your father, who grieved the death of your aunt, his sister.

In Driftmark, you met Daemon, the Rogue Prince, and his daughters, Baela and Rhaena.

You striked a strong bond with both of thems in the short time. Cheering them up a bit and helping them come out of grief.

That night, you were with them when you heard Vhagar and went out to investigate with them and Jace.

There you saw Aemond.

A fight broke out and in self defense, you sliced the dagger through Aemond's left eye, damaging it for lifetime.

Alicent wanted your eye as a payment and in the order to do so herself, she injured Rhaenyra, which in return hurt Viserys who yelled at everyone to stop.

As a way of repayment, you were betrothed to Aemond. Viserys said that it would join the two fractions of House Targaryen.

"Prince Aemond is betrothed to marry Princess (Y/N) from this day forward and shall be married when they come of age. This shall unite our House for good. The House of the Dragon should always be united."

And so, you left Driftmark betrothed to the man you hated with your entire life.

Only to know that your father died.

And soon enough your mother married Daemon.

Fast forward to the time when you with your family arrive at King's Landing to discuss your position as the heir of Corlys Velaryon, who would inherit Driftmark when the right time arrives.

And you met your betrothed again.

Only to be slightly awestruck by his beautiful long hair and sharp features.

But you could see he was less than amused, taunting you instead.

"Betrothed! Came here with your dagger, have you?"

The entire trial, you could feel his gaze fleeting over you. He looked at you like he could read you as an open book, running his fingers over the words to learn a secret you could only guess upon.

Your grandsire proclaimed you the heir to Driftmark.

Vaemond called Rhaenyra a whore and you and your siblings a bastard; adding a line about you following your mother's footsteps. That ended with him getting his skull off in a very asymmetrical way, so that his tongue was kept intact.

"He can keep his tongue."

The predatory look in Aemond's eye had you shivering; hiding behind your mother while she squeezed your hand in reassurance.

That evening, you were forced to sit beside him, which made it tense for you; while his eye pierced her soul.

And a toast was made for Jace and Joffrey, which was very offensive.

And then, for you.

"To my betrothed who is a beautiful, young... strong woman."

You stood up and slapped him.

Jace and Rhaena handled Aegon in the meantime.

Aemond did push you back a bit.

And before you could claw his only eye out, Daemon interrupted.

"Go to your bed chambers," Rhaenyra ordered

The betrothed was called off after that night.

And you returned to Dragonstone happy.

Your mother had started coordinating with the North about a betrothal between you and Cregan Stark.

"Cregan Stark shall treat you just and honorably."

But the news of passing of your grandsire came.

And Rhaenys came with the news of Aegon usurping your mother's crown.

You were sent to the Storm's End on your insistence.

And guess who you found there...

Aemond Fucking 'One-Eyed' Targaryen

Lord Borris Baratheon acted like a twat and denied helping your mother's cause.

Aemond stepped forward just in time for your leave.

"Give me your eye or I will take it!"

"NO!"

"Then I will take something far more precious."

Lord Baratheon was kind enough to order you to leave.

But that stormy night, you arrived at Dragonstone

And only a week later, your mother was told that you were forcefully married to Aemond.

if possible, do you remember how old daemon was when he claimed caraxes? if he was older than rhaena, that just makes him look silly for ignoring her for not having a dragon yet.

similarly, i suspect he'd act the same way towards aemond if he were daemicent's child unfortunately.

this also seemingly lines up perfectly in the au timeline because if laena dies, they still have the funeral where he can try to claim vhagar. The real question is would he lose an eye? Daemon, once again, doesn't seem like the type to care much about bullying [which sets the scene for aemond to try claiming one to begin with]. I think he'd brush it off like viserys.

Combine that with aemond's desire to impress his dad <if i get this dragon dad will stop ignoring me> i can only see an equally terrible outcome.

caraxes' first owner was the late prince aemon targaryen, who died in 92 AC, freeing caraxes for another potential rider. idk when exactly daemon claimed him. i looked it up in FB and the first time daemon is mentioned in relation to caraxes is in 105, when he flies with mysaria to dragonstone, after rhaenyra was named heir. since he was born in 81 AC, that means that he could have claimed caraxes any time between 11 and 24 years old.

baela first rode moondancer in 130 when she was 14, but in truth she had claimed her before that. morning hatched around the same time as baela's first and only ride. the cradle egg of aegon the younger hatched into stormcloud, while viserys ii still had his egg but it either never hatched or he lost it (?) in lys.

aegon the elder claimed sunfyre by 120 AC (13 y.o. at the latest, likely before that), helaena claimed dreamfyre by the age of 11 and aemond was 10 (book age) when he claimed vhagar. daeron already had tessarion by the age of 6. these ages are given specifically in FB as context for the eye-gouging incident in Driftmark, as it is stated aemond is the only dragonless sibling.

so, judging by the fact that daemon could have been 11 at the earliest when aemon died and he could have claimed caraxes, it would be v hypocritical of him to be shading aemond who claimed the biggest & scariest dragon in the world at 10. to be fair to daemon, i don't remember in the text if he ever specifically singled out rhaena for not having a dragon by the age of 13. not saying that he was necessarily thrilled about it, but it's possible for it to be a show-only thing. also, if daemon had bonded himself to caraxes so close after crown prince aemon's death, i feel like the text would have noted that, so it's very likely he did so when he was indeed older. maybe even around the same age rhaena was when her egg hatched.

after all, what show!laena tells rhaena is not just a motherly comfort thing - she was right, there was plenty more time for her to claim her own dragon in the future. princess alyssa herself, her grandmother, claimed meleys at 15, prince baelon her grandfather claimed vhagar at 16 and prince aemon claimed caraxes at 17. they were the darlings of the targaryen dynasty in their time and jaehaerys' favourite children, so daemon side-eyeing his preteen son for not having a dragon yet is pretty goofy.

but then again i doubt the show-runners did the maths for this when they decided on the nature of daemon's relationship with rhaena. they probably just thought it would be a poignant way to highlight daemon's misogyny and that took precedence over dragon algebra

For the life of me I can’t understand how people think it’s acceptable for House of the Dragon a show that is pushing for more diversity (making the Velaryon’s Black and Mysaria Asian) to race bend the only canonical black character. If they wanted to race bend any of the characters they could’ve made Alys Rivers Indian. They could make Sara Snow Mexican and so on. It’s just so frustrating to see this happen time and time again in media when it comes to the portrayal of WOC in general but especially black women.

Like I don't care if people ship Daemyra you know? If shipping those two makes them happy go for it. My only thing is I just want them to stop with the racist shit they say about all the WOC in Daemon's life. From his lovers (cause they've said some racist shit about Mysaria too) to his wife and to even his daughters. At this point I'm convinced half of them don't even like Daemon because if they did they wouldn't stay shitting on the women who at one point or another were/are important to him.

Idk 🤷🏽‍♀️ it's just very strange to me.

The discourse surrounding Nettles is absolutely crazy and you can tell it’s being fueled by anti-black weirdos who are mainly Dumbnyra stans(lol Team Green have their issues too, but they aren’t the ones who are advocating to race bend Nettles 🙃)

Honestly, I did not have a problem with Dumbnyra(and yes I’m going to call it that) at the beginning of the show. I was indifferent to it. However, that quickly changed when most of the fans started to show themselves to be the racist psychopaths that they are. Down to them literally calling Laena the n-word and celebrating her death🙃:

Also, we don’t know what race Nettles is even though we have pictures of her in the lore and in the books as well as descriptions of her appearance that show that she is black, but again every time Nettles is mentioned I get triggered so I skip over her parts😀

Moving on. If it’s not bashing Nettles they are blatantly ignoring that Rhaena and Baela are Daemon’s daughters and his only daughters. They’ll literally draw a million and one pictures of lizard baby (that’s what I’m calling it, cause again, these people don’t deserve respect) and pretend like it ever drew breath and that it is his only daughter🙃 Or my personal favorite which is essentially Daemon is a good father because he didn’t abandon them on the side of the road (where they belong).

They were educated, clothed, and fed, children don’t need affection, stop complaining. The fandom loves Rhaena and Baela🙃. No one cares about poor Rhaenyra and her boys(who Daemon sees as his real children cause they share the same skin color🙃). That’s why I draw, write, and gif for these poor neglected souls and completely leave out the black ingrates, I mean Rhaena and Baela😅

Finally Mysaria. Oh, Mysaria, I’ve got my own problems with her, but yeah they do bash her by pinning all of Rhaenyra’s psycho deeds on her(so much for your girl being a queen who has "agency"🙃).

Like yeah, she’s not innocent, but she’s not the only one who isn’t innocent, and while I definitely don’t think Daemon was ever that in love with her given how quickly he was willing to call her a wh*re, it hasn’t escaped my notice that the only reason why she isn’t that much of a focus is because they do regulate her to just a wh*re 🙃

They hate Rhea too and try to make her into a groomer to justify Daemon murdering her, but we aren’t going to get into that because we are talking about how this fandom treats the non-white women of Daemon’s life.

Look, I could go on and on, but this ship literally attracts the most racist, white supremacist-leaning, self-hating fans(yes there are Black and other non-white fans who will literally throw their own under a bus for this ship🤦🏽‍♀️), and anti-Black fans by the boat load. And the thing is, they all hide behind “feminism” when called out for it🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, you can ship what you want, but it’s pretty obvious at this point it’s beyond shipping. If you are literally bashing every single woman and girl (especially the non-white women/girls) besides Rhaenyra in Daemon’s life then dude there is something wrong here.

They definitely aren’t Daemon fans(hell he probably has about as many actual fans as Nettles does🤦🏽‍♀️). Thank you for writing what I always wish Daemon and Rhaenyra's story was in canon. The truth is that I was never a fan of Daemon x Laena, however, I loved the portrait you made of her in your fic and I can imagine her being that way completely, however, as far as Harwin is concerned, I know that I have a rather unpopular opinion, that of having children bastards with him seemed to me a totally unnecessary addition by Martin to weaken Rhaenyra's character as future queen and destine people to death, their relationship also did not seem to me based on love, but on desire, he never knew how to give Rhaenyra a stop or advice to stop having children who were clearly his and who would question her as an heir, I admit 1 but 3 seems to me a very big impudence, more knowing that there was no way for them to look like their mother (another favor from Martin to rhae) . In addition, in the case of Daemon and Laena, at least they were husband and wife, something that Harwin and Rhaenyra were not, I feel that their relationship is very romanticized, honestly they were lovers, it is not that they could have a family life in the eyes of the entire court and clearly To me it seemed like a patch in Rhaenyra's life for being married to laenor... and not being able to have been with the man she wanted. It has already been seen that he had 3 children with Harwin in quick succession... Daemon came back and it was over and once he had 3, what does it matter a 4? Lately, since the premiere of the abomination on hbo, there are many harwin fan girls who endorse him a lot and I don't understand it to be honest, his children weren't destined to be kings either, I'm of the opinion that it wouldn't even have happened if there wasn't dance. A true ally who thought with his head and nothing else would have acted differently, I think. I'm sorry to have such a negative opinion but it's tired to see people selling him as Rhaenyra's great love when he wasn't, in my opinion, of course. It also tires to always see the children born of their love affair as more loved and developed by the fans than the next kings of westeros🤣. I hope you don't mind my opinion but the Strong boys didn't fulfill my Targaryen supremacist quota so I'm more than happy reading your story, where you represent Harwin in a way that I can imagine quite simply at least in relation to Rhaenyra and good-natured, but for me that's it. I hope you are well (and still there X'D) because this was such a big delay on my part 💔 but better late than never!

First, thank you so so much for your beyond kind words ❤️ I write what I wished the story could be as well, so I am happy others like my choices 🩷 asoiaf Daemyra are prime steak and adding anyone else in the picture is putting ketchup on it so I am just serving the steak and removing the ketchup 😂 just prime fillet mignon which is asoiaf Daemyra.

I absolutely agree with the fact that George added the "Velaryon" princes to add more drama to the mix and to make the whole claim thing more balanced and less just about Rhaenyra being a woman. Of course that ultimately I would argue that George didn't do it very well because although the "Velaryon" princes should have been a HUGE thing the fact is they were an afterthought of the Green Council - brought up only by Criston and Alicent - and none of the lords either pro or against the Blacks and/or the Greens ever mentioned them.

I think George succeeded at making it a big thing for the fandom and at making other people look at what Rhaenyra's behaviour said about her and at the lack of legitimacy of her three eldest heirs and going "Yeah I'm neutral" or "Yeah I am Team Green" (the latter a very small minority not even 10%), but he definitely failed at showing that this was a such a major thing for the characters. Besides the Greens mocking the "Velaryon" princes and Rhaenyra it's like... no one really cared, and this would contradict the very strong (no pun intended) hatred that many of the asoiaf characters have concerning illegitimate children. So yeah... I think that should have been explored a LOT better.

In my story, however, that issue is removed, and I have had many fans who consider themselves neutral tell me that actually in my story they are Team Black because there are no "Velaryon" princes, and the fact that Rhaenyra married Daemon - a Targaryen - and only had Targaryen children + her being her father's choice of heir would make it very hard for the Greens to have a step to hold on to. And this is not because I have embellished Rhaenyra or Daemon mind you. I have lost count of the times I had people say that Rhaenyra is annoying, childish, spoiled, arrogant, stupid, oh personal favourite "window-licking clown"... or that Daemon is cruel, and an assh0le, and that he doesn't love Rhaenyra. Hells, I had someone say that until a point they thought I was actually a Team Green fan X'D but the issue of the "Velaryon" princes that made the issue less clear is removed, and in such circumstances it's almost impossible for someone to not stand the Blacks - which just adds to how weak the Greens' claim is and how dependent on the existence of the "Velaryon" princes it also is. And also mind you, I made a lot of choices to make Alicent look better - for instances, it's Otto who wants to marry Helaena and Aegon, she has reservations, and at the start she is not very on board with many of her father's plans. I also added more depth to Aegon, and explored his relationship with Sunfyre for instance, and downplayed many of his "advances" at maids and women. I also don't shy away from showing what a sh:t sister Rhaenyra was, and this is another complain I frequently had - how she treated her siblings.

I might be Team Black but I give credit where credit is due and I like to explore the fault the Blacks had, and the good the Greens had. They are still the villains, but they clearly were the villains in canon to. That's not changing and someone can be the clear villain and still have reasons.

Moving to canon now and to why Rhaenyra in canon had three illegitimate children I have a simple answer: because she could and because she didn't care.

I think it is always important to consider that pre-Dance was the pinnacle of Targaryen power - they had never been as powerful before and never would again. All of them were raised to believe they were more god/goddess than man/woman and all of them were arrogant to a fault. And as I have said before, why shouldn't they be? Truth was they were superior to almost everyone in almost every way, and truth or law was whatever they said it was.

Even in good freindly Walserys wee see this. If he wanted a woman to rule he could do it. If he wanted people to patch up and be friends he simply demanded it. And if he wanted his daughter to marry a gay man and have children with him that would happen thanks to his Hand's son :D

Rhaenyra was just the same, and you see her have this attitude. Her reply to "Your sons are bastards" was always to either kill or threaten. Hells, she had the audacity to hear Aemond call her sons Strong and be like "Well who told you that lie?! We must get to the bottom of this!"

As to what drove her to Harwin Strong, I mean, people can tell themselves whatever they want, but at the end of the day it was mainly three things:

Daemon was not available - had been exiled under penalty of death two years prior

2. Harwin had courted her and likely she liked him well enough

3. She was married against her will to a man who left her alone during the celebrations of their wedding and never consummated the marriage at 17, and wanted someone to love her Harwin was there, she liked him well enough, and likely she knew HE liked her well enough to keep his mouth shut and take his affair with him to the grave Spoiler :D he did! Rhaenyra:

Now as you say and well, very clearly Harwin was a source of comfort for her above anything else, and I agree that it speaks volumes how many children they had before Daemon returned, vs. how many they had after he returned and how quickly she again fell in Daemon's arms and got pregnant. Given the timeline it's very likely that Harwin was actually still alive when Rhaenyra got pregnant with baby Aegon. My brothers in Christ literally the day Otto arrived in King's Landing following Harwin and Lyonel's deaths, word arrived that Rhaenyra had married Daemon. Even if we are to believe it was only after Harwin died what a fine way Rhaenyra had to mourn the "love of her life"... by banging her former lover and marrying him. Someone who could have been involved in Harwin's demise btw.

And they say romance is dead!

Delusions and wishful thinking aside, one can argue who the love of Daemon's life was. About the show I don't consider it so I am not even going to go there, I will just say that how anyone can have any ship in Redacted outside Renada/Alicia or Helen/Diet Almond Milk is a mystery to me because they all absolutely suck and apologies but having a man look at you like he's going to tear your oesophagus from your body and wear it for a necklace is not romantic, or the only interaction you have with him is just some witty banter where once again you are showing what a fine Girlboss you are. But wtf do I know about the fandom's standards?! I know they are lower than the Titanic.

I don't think you sound like a bad person or anything of the like, if anything it says a lot that many of the so-called "Targaryen" fans only seem to like Targaryens who are less Targaryen and don't look like Targaryens, and the same people who love the "Velaryon" princes and call themselves Team Black fans hate Aegon and Viserys and go on to posts made by their fans to call them monsters. Their greatest sin? Why they are very pure Targaryens with Targaryen parents who enjoyed banging each other's brains out, had no reservations about incest, and looked so Targaryen that Aegon's hair was almost white.

Wincest is not for everyone.

Now, personally, I have nothing against the "Velaryon" princes. I actually like Jace and Luke and feel bad for Joffrey because imagine your siblings being Jacaerys, Lucerys, Rhaena, Baela, Aegon, and Viserys, and you are Joffrey... ain't no ointment for that burn. #cancelLaenor But I don't buy for a minute that even if there were no Greens that they would just be one big happy family and that Daemon would gladly tell his legitimate kids step aside for Harwin's illegitimate sons to take their place.

We all know the real reason Laena had to die and leave Daemon and Rhaenyra too early.

The Oldtown triad took one look at this poly triad of awesomeness and got flashbacks to Aegon, Visenya and Rhaenys and decided it had to be stopped then and there.

P.S, I saw your post mentioning how the Blacks need a separate communication system. It’s very telling that Doran Martell has his own raventenders who answer directly to him and not Oldtown.

If only it was just that, nonny.

If Oldtown looked at them the same way they’ve seen Aegon, Rhaenys and Visenya, it would’ve been bad enough. But those three bitches were much worse, especially Rhaenyra. After all, the conquerors had a problem with hatching dragons from the beginning. Daemon banging Rhaenyra meant the future filled with new dragons. Daemon banging Laena would probably give us another Rhaenyra as well. And sure enough it did, with Baela. I’m not counting Rhaena, because we learn she can’t hatch dragons later on.

The last time Oldtown went ballistic about a possible union like this, was the one between another uncle and niece: Maegor and Rhaena, a woman who hatched Dreamfyre and who lost Irone Throne to Jaehaerys. They’ve claimed it was because of incest, yet nobody had anything to say about this issue before with Aegon. And let’s remember, that they forced Maegor to marry a Hightower instead.

That’s why I’m laughing my ass off any time someone tries to defend Jaehaerys, because he at least disbanded faith militants (yeah, he did, after Maegor kicked their asses and put the fear of real gods in them) and managed to negotiate the compromise for Targaryens to be allowed to marry each other (yeah, he did, long after the threat of Rhaena and Aerea diapered across the Narrow Sea). And then he made septon his Hand.

Please.

Oldtown rats have no trouble letting some Targaryens marry each other, and then they absolutely lose their shit about how incest is a crime against gods and humanity, when others try to do the same. And notice how most of those are remembered as murderers of little puppies and later have problems with producing heirs.

And absolutely, Martells know what’s up, and what’s more, they seem to be using Oldtown for their own gain. Now, I won't go into detail about Martells Conspiracy, but no, it was never about marrying Quentyn to Dany and Arianne to Viserys.

I love how Dorne and Oldtown get more and more tangled as this story goes on.

We have Oberyn with his six links of maester's chain, him hanging around brothels in Oldtown and having a daughter from there: Obara, who blames Oldtown for her father’s death and wishes to sack it.

Oberyn straight out sabotages his sister’s marriage to a Hightower, absolutely annihilating maesters' plan to bring all Seven Kingdoms against Targaryens together. And Oberyn’s own marriage to Cersei gets destroyed by Aerys tempting Tywin into saving her for Rhaegar.

Then come forward the Brave Companions, most probably a company Oberyn created, filled with people related to the Faith, who chopped off Jaime's hand, killed Amory Lorch (a man who murdered Elia’s daughter) and had Qyburn with them. Qyburn who later works for Cersei and takes care of Tywin’s body (the same body that was poisoned) and Gregor Clagane, who's been renamed to Robert Strong. And yes, you’re supposed to make this connection with Harwin. Not to mention, the Brave Companions and their sacking of septs, kicks off the sparrow movement and brings back the faith militant force and their courts. Same courts that poor Cersei has to go against.

And the Sandsnakes?

Not only Nymeria is now on the Small Council, we also have Tyene being dispatched to spy on the High Sparrow, and we have Sarella in the Citadel.

Don’t even let me get started about Martells' race against Blackfyres for who will be the first to get to Dany and her dragons, as well as get Stepstones under their control to transfer an army. By the way, one of the largest city that would give you control over Stepstones, and yes, those are the same Stepstones we are about to see in the show, is Lys. The same Lys where Lynesse Hightower is.

And the whole thing with Quentyn! Because you see, Quentyn was the lost cause from the very beginning. He was fostered by Yronwoods, a House that hates Martells (they are what Boltons are to Starks, or Florents to Tyrells) and people who are well-known Blackfyres supporters. I find it hilarious how Doran clearly knows that Quentyn's become a puppet and tells him to follow his maesters teaching, in order for him to become his heir one day... And then gives him no support on his quest to Essos.

And Arianne is clearly being groomed into ruling. Speaking of Arianne, she gets locked up with some books to read, and those are about: dornish law, dragons, history and septons.

So yeah, Martells know and, as almost everyone in this story, they are playing only for themselves.

Tbh I don’t think Alicent was wrong about marrying Rhaenyra and Aegon. It would have solved a lot of problems. Viserys said it was because they were 10 years apart and didn’t like each other, but he obviously wasn’t above making her marry someone she didn’t want to marry, and late 20s is certainly not too late to have kids even in westeros. I know it was to heal the rift with house Velaryon, but certainly sending Daemon to help Corlys with his little freeloader problem and then the royal marriage that ensued didn’t hurt relations between their houses. A promise to wed Aemond to Daemon and Laena’s potential kids could have also helped with the rift. It always just kind of seemed short sighted on Viserys’s part to me.

I’m not sure it’s quite so simple. After all, Viserys also seems to have concluded that, in his words, “‘[t]he boy is Alicent’s own blood … [s]he wants him on the throne’”. Of course, Alicent did want to see her son on the Iron Throne (not illogically, from either a political or a personal perspective), and I could see where such a marriage might have raised significant questions about the division of power between the spouses. Who would hold the authority in the relationship - Rhaenyra, Aegon, or the two of them jointly (an even more pressing question for the Targaryens, who to that point had precedent for the latter two options but not the former)? If Aegon proceeded to sit the Iron Throne, would he have been seen to emulate Rhaenys and Visenya (who ruled the realm from the Iron Throne in their brother-husband’s absence) or his predecessor kings (who sat the Iron Throne as full executives)? Would Aegon and Rhaenyra both wear kingly crowns (as they did IOTL, albeit as rival monarchs, with Aegon having the Conqueror’s crown and Rhaenyra the crown of Jaehaerys I), and if so, what might that action imply about the nature of their respective positions? Would Aegon and Rhaenyra both sit on the small council, and if so, what role would they each take there? You can absolutely believe that Rhaenyra’s faction would want Rhaenyra as the sole monarch, while the green faction would press for Aegon to rule as a nominally joint but in practice sole monarch (blurring the line between a jure uxoris inheritance, a la Tyrek Lannister or Bronn with Lollys Stokeworth, and Aegon’s rights as the senior legitimate male descendant of Viserys I). This marriage, in other words, wouldn’t necessarily stop the Dance, it would just change the nature of the Dance from an all-out civil war to a court war (which could in turn evolve into a civil war).

And of course, as noted, such a marriage wouldn’t help Velaryon-Targaryen relations at all. By Velaryon reckoning, they now would’ve been snubbed no fewer than three times: at the death of Prince Aemon (when Jaehaerys I skipped over Princess Rhaenys and/or her unborn child for Prince Baelon), at the Great Council of 101 AC (when Jaehaerys, following the votes of the assembled lords, proclaimed Prince Viserys his heir), and in 105 AC (when now-King Viserys refused to marry Laena in favor of Alicent Hightower). The Velaryons of this era believe, not without some reason, that the throne is rightfully theirs, and if they were willing IOTL to make a play for the throne via that proposed Laena-Viserys marriage (and then the actual Laenor-Rhaenyra marriage), they would not likely meekly accept the king’s younger brother and the king’s second son as marriage matches. Indeed, this latest snub might only motivate the Velaryons to renew their insistence that the throne belonged to Laenor (with, perhaps, the idea that Daemon and Laena’s children would be his heirs presumptive), so perhaps turning the Dance from a greens vs. blacks conflict (although again, that could still be an element) to a Targaryen vs. Velaryon conflict

I’m imagining after laena and laenor aren’t around, rhaenys saying the line should pass through laenora. Which ofc gets shot down by corlys bc that disenfranchises Rhaenyra’s claim (and the strong boys by relation). By that point, she (Nora) gets married off. Hears through grapevine about Rhaenyra and daemon having egg 3.

Originally she thinks, maybe I can make a family of my own since mine is kind of on the rocks. But her husband is useless and kind of sucks so she drinks moontea to stop it. Their ofc rumors around his death but since there are no kids, people assume it was all above board.

She goes to court for a fresh start, and assuming through this she can reconnect and be wanted by a family she’s been distant with. It all sort of spirals the more time she spends away. In a way she sort of pawn, and she has to figure out her own footing and frankly pick a side that suits her best interest
