Dick is the brother, father, and mother figure to Dami for yearsss. He moms everyone! His maternal instincts is off the charts that he could make you kin on first meeting. He is basically an honorary member of Superfam, Flashfam, Arrowfam, like gdi. So No, Dick may not be anyone's blood family, but he is everyone's family!!! (everyone that cherish him that is orz)

But yes, she is lashing out and wanted to keep it strictly on family blood ties, since she was, u kno, manipulated and her values revolved around family and love so it ties in. Just please at least have a moment for Talia to apologize, that's all I wanted and everything would be more than perfect 😭😭😭

Short Kurti That Will Make The Fashion Proud!

The contemporary lovers and experimental ladies have showered their love on this outfit as it is the least recognizable kurti and can pass as an exquisite piece any day. The upper part is generally sleeveless as one with long or even medium sleeves would make the look more fluffy and shapeless.

5. The Indo-Western Kurtis – These kurits are the most commonly worn outfits by fashionistas and other college and office going ladies. The comfort level is these outfit is high, and the look is presentable and not over the top making it the best everyday wear option. The upper half is loose and free falling with short or no sleeves with the lower half being the mid-length and straight cut.

I know I would love to have a pretty Damian, coz let's be honest, he has Talia as his mother...but seriously DC? Who is this ?

I love Simone de Meo but the one-face syndrome for Robins is strong in this one (He looks like Tim stole Dami's Robin suit). Also, the iconic spiky edgy pre-teen Dami (with hair as sharp as his blade and bite) is such a mood even if he has some ugly panels, he still has a child's clean cut! (goin off-tangnt here, but stahp aging him at the speed of sound, while leaving all the batfam in perpetual agelessness limbo, but that's a different rant).

Thakfully, the other cover arts seems to retain his hair, so it's good.

Still, since Dami is now 14 years old (in canon), having a longer hair cut makes sense, BUT not the trademarked cut of Tim's Robin, please, aaaaahjj. I can barely recognize the two when they are in the same panels, with DC's indecisiveness executive decisions for the Robin's mantle (with having two active Robins at the same time) and 2023 comics decided to upped the difficulty level, still?!

DC finally did a series featuring all the Robins. They mainly do that on annuals, or series with the whole Batfan on it. Like fr, i've been waiting for this.

I even assumed the 2016 Robin War series is about a replay of plot when the Robins fought on who would be Batman (when their old man died). But nah, its a different setting (it did gave us our straight-man Duke Thomas, so it's still good)

Was explaining to my friend the batboys timeline. But when it got to Damian, I was telling her how Dick-Batman and Dami-Robin was my favorite coz their roles were reversed. With Batman doing jokes and deescalating situations, while Robin does the brooding and the stabby (fastest way to incapacitate the criminals, with a katana..!).

Then I got to the part where Bruce returned, and became Batman.

I was contrasting the two dynamics, and it hit me how jarring it was. Coz it's like watching a parenting episode where the parent is doing everything wrong. Of course Batman is always right. But the writing narrative was set up in failure from the get go.

Mainly, I don't think anyone likes reading a parent and a child arguing...in public...while in costumes. And ending up getting physical. Like for real, the comic is a Batman-Robin story, where Batman has to say 'no' to a Robin, and since its in a combat environment, it always comes across as a command from a superior. But since they are selling this father-son duo, that kind of communication is grating even if Batman is in the right...coz the thing is, that's abuse. And with Dami naturally wanting to fight with his background, Bruce would always be placed in an awkward situation.

Also the parenting part in Bruce's situation is tricky. There was not even an impression of Batman being a single-dad...but more like a bachelor being dumped with a child, without the ridiculousness of it all being played out as comedic. Its a surprise-baby situation with the serious and edginess comics perspective...so really, it became a suspense thriller story revolving around Dami, and that tone of narrative has been sticking to Dami forever.

That's why outside the Bat series, Dami is such a good character to explore coz the suspense-thriller connotation is gone. Its just a kid with a ridiculous background.

And even if its not parenting, Batman is a mentor and partner to Robin. But Dami is a mini Batman and is combat-ready from the start. And as a minor kid who is his son...they can never have an equal status as partners.

So what else can Batman teach to Robin? Turns out, there was a lot!

Dick-Batman was able to work well with Dami-Robin because even if Dick was sparring and fighting with Dami, he is helping the child to be people-ready. Dick taught him what it means to be Robin (and how becoming Batman is not always a good thing). That is such a big difference. Also Dick really became his brother and has the chance to prove himself worthy to Dami, for which Dami has approved ever since that spans to multiple series even outside the Bat series

This is something I haven't pick up with Bruce, since what I've read so far is either Bruce placating Dami, scolding him, saving him, expecting Dami to be better, etc. At most, it was Dami reaching and proving himself to Bruce.

I'm not saying that Bruce should always be gentle and understanding with Damian...Coz that won't work when they are patrolling and continue to be partners as vigilantes. I still want to read Batman and Robin!

I am actually having blank on what dynamics would work best on the two based on what the comics has been for the past years.

But what I think would help their Batman-Robin dynamics once they get back together (coz I am still hoping for that!) is to break the duo dynamics...and add a third-wheeler. Let Dami-Robin work with another Bat, and for Batman to take the lead on the field. Since they can never have an equal status as partners, Batman should stick to the mentor part. And let Dami do his own thing while contrasting to what another Bat would do.

I don’t know what to feel about this issue. First off, love the art. The artist got Damian to look like a child (his casual clothes is adorable here! gdi). That’s why this is much more painful to read.

On the onset of the premise -- underground secret prison, breaking ambiguous moral codes here and there -- I already get that this won’t end well with Damian. Someone’s gotta beat some sense to him, asap. That’s why I have high hopes with Jason.

For the record, I think it’s normal Damian regressed back again from pre-Tomasi run. Afterall, a lot of his support is gone.

First. He has lost faith with his father. I think its during the Justice League: No Justice Series, where Batman went along with Brainiac’s plan, which Robin did not approve of. So Damian declared that Teen Titans has nothing to do with the Justice League anymore. It’s more of an off-panel thing. Next thing happened, Justice League recruited all his team mates. Beast Boy is now in Titans. Starfire is with Justice League: Odyssey. etc. I think the only reason Wallace ‘Kid Flash’ got left behind is coz all the teams have speedsters already (even if one of them is gone…please let it be temporary). And no, I don’t think Batman nor the Justice League explained what their arrangements are either. It’s frustrating what can be read between the lines.

Next. Jon is gone off (aged) in Bendis’ Superman run. Dick is now Ric. Damian just pissed off Alfred in utter complete disappointment, which is worse.

It just felt like all his moral compasses and pillars are just non-existent anymore. He was left with no haven or someone to feel at home to, or even a place to belong. And for that to happen all at once paints a bleak picture that could actually lead to this…mess.

I think that’s why he turn to Jason. Because he’s family.

He trusted Jason first. And Red Hood’s alleged betrayal really struck a raw chord to Damian. I mean, I’m fine with Damian confronting Jason, but suicide..? No, this is just…ugh. Strapping a bomb to himself? poor taste dc *sigh. And them brushing this off as a so-called strategic move from Damian, when a frickin’ thirteen year old child threatened suicide..! At least address it properly! If a Robin pulls this thing off, regardless of who it was wearing that insignia, I know Jason would be enraged, but the way he just scoff at the threat as a non-issue irks me. I wish the beating he gave to Damian has a more, stop-this-bullshit you ingrown baby. You’ve just died recently, and I almost die trying to whip your ass off death hole. Its more insulting that way, but at least he showed he cared! Maybe not at Damian, but at Robin…at least.

Like wth (okay I could rant on this for hours…am I blowing this off out of proportions, because its just like what four-five panels? But it’s just disturbing, im sorry. this is just stretching everything i know about these characters i love)

And what’s with this fluctuating power dynamics with the batboys. Are we just gonna have suspension of disbelief everytime some fistfights among the bats happens. Damian has the strength of a grown man, and a known combatant at par with the best of LoA. And lately he’s been getting beaten by those he’s known to have already got beat (hah reminds me of Talia…please allow me to cry a little inside).

I know he’s a child, so I would accept it if his brawn and fighting skills depends on his mindset (well that’s my take anyway). So can you please already establish that first before pitting them with each other, so everything will makes sense for once?!

(PS. Djinn and Crush should be honest with each other already. I approve of Damian being the trigger for these two cuties to have their happy ending…just a fan musing, don’t mind me.)

UPDATE

Hello. Some few updates in case you guys are wondering of my lack of output lately. ahem. well, firstly, class started. and with a full time job, it is kinda hectic. but im having fun now unlike last semester (gosh that was a bad year). so i wont be able to post as frequently as before, unless im too stressed or bummed out or my escapism kicks in again, that i need to draw my comfort baby damian. so this blog might be not that active from now on eheh. secondly, i am very much productive at a talia fanzine! and most of my latest works are related to the queen and i havent gotten around what i should be submitting so until i sort out all my wips and thought doodles for the next months until october, i wont be able to post anything serious. lol. but i am super duper excited at working with this project with wonderful people around. so. cheers for that! and thirdly, i dont like whats happening with damian. i am legitimately terrified to read any comics right now. im still stuck at the 2016 rebirth and i refuse to move forward until the next reboot appears. so there's that. and yeah, i only read young justice, batman and the outsiders, event leviathan, and lil gotham. other than those mentioned i am in a constant void of fluffy fanarts, hcs, and aus. thank you guys for always showing support and love!
