If I see one more time a 17yo Viktor Krum being called a predator and a pedophile for going to the ball with a 15yo Hermione Granger and spending time with her afterwards, I’m going to start punching people…

Hermione will never be the biggest quidditch fan, but when her boyfriend is the World's Greatest Seeker and his jersey is SO comfortable, she can make an exception...
Pd: Crookshanks is their baby, because you can't have a relationship with Hermione Granger without going through her cat's approval first.
Credit to @bisho-s for the lovely art🥰

Vikmione/Krumione art I commissioned from @/incendiosketches (on Instagram).
I’ve been brainrotting over this pair for a little bit and couldn’t find any adult/post-war art of them. I love the idea of them reconnecting and getting to enjoy time together without the looming threat of war. 💗✨

Listening to HPDH randomly, got to the part at the wedding when Viktor Krum shows up, and really, I think his connection with Hermione was underrated. I mean, he shows up three years after they dated, he's a famous Quidditch player, and he's still carrying a torch for her. And she's still clearly at least a little into him. Tbh I kinda wish they ended up together. He liked her when no one else noticed her. He saw how incredible she was.
I think I may ship them a little.

-Me:  Okay, fiiiine.  You can write a little Viktor Krum/Hermione Granger meet-cute fic for The Three Broomsticks Yule Bash Fic Fest.  But let's keep it light, let's keep it fluffy, and let's keep it SHORT.  Then it's straight back to working on Knowing Where to Look!
-Also me:  *Opens web browser.  Search:  Christmas traditions in Bulgaria
-Okay, sure.  But let's not go overboard on the research.  This is a fluff piece.
-*Search: Bulgarian word for "father"*
-Is that really necessary?  We can just call him 'Dad,' surely.
-*Search: Popular liquor in Bulgaria
-Getting a little technical there.  Let's keep this simple.  You have your long-fic to work on, remember?  Short.  Fluffy.  Easy.  Quick.
-*Search: Effects of scoliosis in adulthood when untreated*
-Wait...  What are you doing?
-*Search: Mental health impacts on child competitive athletes*
-Hold on a sec.  This isn't sounding very fluffy...
-*Search: Bulgaria's role in the Cold War*
-Stop it!  Don't do it!
-*Search: The fall of Communism in Bulgaria in the early 1990s*
-STOP!  STOP IT RIGHT THERE!
-*Search: Death toll of refugees attempting to escape Bulgaria into Greece and Turkey*

He did not see how he could possibly explain to Hermione that what she had done to offend Ron was kiss Viktor Krum, not when the offense had occurred so long ago.

I just LOVE how romantically Hermione doesn't give af about any guy who isn't Ron.
She called Krum ugly said no one would look at him twice if he couldn't do the wonky faint thing. Then she was busy being jealous of Fleur who had kissed Ron on his cheek when Krum had rescued her from the lake. Then rejected his invitaion to Bulgaria and spent a whole month cleaning dust at the grimmauld place with Ron.
She only asked Cormac out to make Ron jealous.
She had no interest in any other guy. Like homegirl saw Ron and thought 'yeah. I want that' and she got him. What a true QUEEN👑

Given your history with the forbidden ship, what are your thoughts on krumione?
It took me a second to decipher the reference. Anon, you can say the name. Hayley isn’t a dirty word 🤣 just a questionable ship. Which is more or less the case for my man Victor Krum. The fandom is somewhat divided here. There are those who praise him as an underrated gentleman, and those who shame him as a creep who targets underage girls.
Honestly, both sides are exaggerating.
Krum wasn’t some unsung hero. He was a lonely, awkward guy with fame, but no friends. He was repeatedly described as being surly. He had feelings for Hermione, indicating that he appreciated her intelligence (and probably how different she was from his typical fan-girls) but so what? Just because Hermione didn’t get a lot of attention from boys, it doesn’t make Krum noble for having noticed her.
Krum is a guy who was, I think, deeply affected by attending a school like Durmstrang. It didn’t turn him into a dark wizard or a bigot (likely because of the personal losses his family suffered at the hands of the Grindelwald regime) but it does seem to have affected his social skills in a negative capacity, and becoming a celebrity certainly didn’t help. Nor did becoming a Quidditch player. I’ve talked about this before but Quidditch players tend to be obsessive and throw everything else away, including basic morality, just so they can win. The Wronski Feint may be cool when you’re a kid reading the book for the first time, but in adulthood, it really hits me just how screwed up that actually was. He basically tried to kill the other Seeker. It’s not his fault that such a move is considered acceptable, but he didn’t have to use it.
In general, I think fame hampered Krum’s ability to make friends, and rendered him unable to trust that people weren’t just trying to cozy up to him because he was famous. Unfortunately, this includes people like Ron, he’s a perfect example. Krum was a socially awkward, grumpy young man who probably did want to make friends and find love, but he had no clue how to do this, especially not in a school full of strangers in another country. (It’s no wonder he invited Hermione to come visit him.) Hell, we don’t know why he made the journey to Hogwarts in the first place. Was it his decision? Did he even want to enter the Triwizard Tournament? Or was he pressured into it by Karkaroff?
I should elaborate on my feelings a bit more. I am by no means condemning Viktor Krum, because he may be strange and socially awkward, but that’s not a crime. Questionable Seeker plays notwithstanding, Krum doesn’t really do anything wrong during the story. It’s not his fault, for instance, that Karkaroff shamelessly favorited him, or that Crouch Jr used him as a puppet. If anything, his aggressive reaction to a perceived Grindelwald supporter is a mark in his favor. Krum is the sort of guy who has punched Nazis and gladly would again. Can’t really fault him for that.
But what about the erumpent in the room, what about his interest in Hermione?
Well, like I said, I don’t believe he ever does anything out of line. Is it creepy? I think that depends on the context. Is the age gap a little suspect? I mean, yeah, it is. But it’s hardly impossible for a guy Krum’s age to date a girl Hermione’s age without being a predator. To pretend otherwise is silly. That leaves the question - is Krum written to be a predator? The answer is no. I hardly think asking a girl to attend a chaperoned dance is predatory behavior. It’s implied that they dated a while afterward, that Hermione (probably) kissed him. But hey, if they hit it off at The Yule Ball, why can’t they see where that goes? Hermione being Krum’s Hostage in the Second Task is…weird, I’ll admit. Particularly since the judges were willing and able to procure family members from outside the country. But then again, is it not equally weird for Cedric’s Hostage to be Cho? They hadn’t been dating that long. Frankly, I think this just proves how lonely Krum is.
I’ve seen posts that say he “isolated” and “threatened” Harry when he saw him as a romantic rival. Which seems like a major reach. All he did was ask for an explanation. There was no indication that he meant harm. And when Harry clarified, Krum changed his tune and acted more friendly. Again, he and Hermione were basically dating at this point. It’s not unreasonable for Krum to be angry if he thought Hermione was cheating on him. Overall, he should have confronted her instead of Harry, but that’s a different issue. My point being, it was not predatory behavior. No more than his being irritated that Hermione wasn't paying attention to him after the Second Task. He was already insecure about Harry, and he was the one who had "saved" Hermione, of course he wanted to be the center of attention in that moment.
Was it creepy for Krum to invite Hermione to visit him in Bulgaria? I’ve seen that sentiment expressed, that he was trying to “isolate her” (there’s that word again) in a country where he would be the only person she knew, and that this was a red flag. I’d just call it an inevitable reality. One can assume Krum would want to introduce her to his family and such. But until then, yeah, she wouldn’t know anyone else from there. So? Furthermore, there’s no indication that her parents weren’t invited too. Either way, Hermione would need their consent and there’s no doubt Krum knew she would. Like, we have no evidence that he was trying to do this behind their backs. In general, Harry himself regularly stayed with the Weasleys during school breaks, for weeks at a time. This could simply be a traditional aspect of wizarding culture. Something that happens all the time. Not some grand evil plan. In any case, Hermione rejected the offer to visit Bulgaria (or her parents said no, we can’t be sure) and I think we can safely assume that Krum took this with grace, as he and Hermione remain pen pals after the fact and are on good terms.
I’ve made this point before when defending Hayley, but I dislike how people express distaste for Krumione by describing it as an “adult man” pursuing a “15 year old girl.” Because referring to Krum as such in this context and ignoring that he’s only 18 himself just obscures the situation. It makes it sound a lot worse than it actually is, and it almost seems like people are doing this on purpose. Krum may be an adult in this case and Hermione may be a child, but that doesn't mean they're all that far apart. Again, Cedric and Cho also get together after the Yule Ball, and by Wizard standards, Cedric was an adult too. We're still dealing with a romance between two teenagers. Yes, an 18 year old is more mature than a 15 year old. But 18 year olds are still pretty damn stupid. I know. I’ve been there.
But what about the time that Krum, as a 21 year old man, was eyeing up Ginny, a 16 year old girl? That alone kills any defense he might have, right? It creates a pattern and removes the benefit of the doubt from the equation…right? Well, it would, except that Krum doesn’t actually know her age, how could he isn’t actually interested in Ginny. He doesn’t check her out until after Harry describes Ron and Hermione as a couple. Up until that point, he had eyes only for her. It seems like pretty clear subtext. Krum just wants to find a pretty girl to dance with and make Hermione jealous. Which is immature. But again, acting immature is not the same thing as acting predatory. He backs off when Harry tells him that Ginny has a boyfriend, I think we can assume he would likewise have backed off if Harry had told him "She's 16, dude."
Altogether, Hermione was Krum’s first love. He seems to have idealized their relationship and never really gotten over her. While this probably isn’t the healthiest situation for him, I still wouldn’t call him a creep. Krum respects Hermione’s boundaries and her autonomy. he is never shown pushing her into anything she doesn’t want, and Hermione doesn’t appear to be the least bit negatively affected by his residual feelings for her. She just carries on with her life. She shoots him down, and while he doesn’t exactly move on, he also doesn’t make it her problem. The worst you can say about Krum is that he's maybe a little pathetic. But I don't see any red flags here, at least not of that sort.

Responding to suggestions from BeautifulLady and many others, some nice and fluffy Viktor/Hermione meet cute (and meet again cute, rinse and repeat) for @flufftober day 9!
She’d caught his eye, and what good was being the world’s best seeker when you couldn’t successfully catch what you were chasing?
He’d barely warranted a second look until he was suddenly everywhere, and now she couldn’t take her eyes off him.

The Marked One, Part 5/?
Read Part One | Read Part Two | Read Part Three | Read Part Four
Determination was fine and good, he thought a few months later as he skulked through the castle once more in an attempt to hide from his fans, but it did nothing to quell the doubt in his heart. Could he have been mistaken?
She appeared determined to avoid him at all costs, and when he did try to approach her (always in the library, where he was half-convinced she lived), she greeted him with a tight smile and a few terse words. Nothing more, nothing less. No sign remained of the girl at the Cup who had looked at him as if, for one moment, he were the best and most wonderful thing that she had ever seen.
And yet his heart persisted where his mind quailed, making him doggedly try to talk to her again and again, no matter how bruised he felt after each time.
So. The library once more.
She was at her favourite table by the Advanced Charms section — an area he had a lot of reasons to be in, given the fact he was about to face a literal, fire-breathing dragon that had the ability to crisp him alive — and he picked his way over in a long, circuitous route that aimed to avoid notice. It wasn’t until his arrival at Hogwarts that he truly resented his celebrity status. His admirers followed him everywhere.
“‘Mione,” he overheard Potter say from one aisle over, his tone a bit uncertain, “are you sure you’ve been okay? You’ve been acting a bit strange.”
“Don’t be silly, Harry.” Viktor sighed as he heard her tone. Brisk and matter-of-fact, just like she’d spoken to him at the Cup. So she wasn’t a timid mouse all the time. Just around him, it seemed. “Things are perfectly alright.”
“Don’t think Draco hasn’t noticed Viktor skulking around you,” Potter said knowingly. “I might have the observational skills of a brick, but he sees everything.”
“Harry,” Hermione hissed, “don’t say that so loud. People might hear!”
“And if they do?” Potter retorted. “What of it?”
“They might—they might get ideas.” The last was said quietly. “You and Draco might be a matched pair, your scars all lined up and all, but I’m not convinced it works out like that for all of us.”
“Scars?” Potter repeated, delight threading through the word. “Who said anything about scars? Hermione, are you—you and Krum?”
Despondent. “I think so.”
“You sound like Crookshanks just died. Why aren’t you happy about it?”
Yes, Hermione, Viktor thought darkly, answer the question. Why did she sound so upset?
Parchment rustled and clothes whispered as Hermione shifted in her seat. “I just don’t know about this entire thing. I mean—soulmates? Scars? It doesn’t make sense to me. How can we know and all accept that we belong with one person because we have matching marks on our bodies? It defies belief.”
Potter sighed. “Look, I know what you mean. The idea that Malfoy of all people is my match is completely mental. For a while, I really hated him even though we had matching scars and he had known he was my match for literally his whole life. I mean, the forehead scar really gave it away. But you and I weren’t raised that way. Muggles don’t have matches, so it seems crazy for us to accept something like this.”
Viktor peered through a gap in the bookshelf as Potter leaned forward and rested his arms on the table, intently staring at Hermione. “But I felt it. Even without the scars, I think I would know. As much as I wanted to deny that Draco was my pair, something inside me wouldn’t let me ignore him. As soon as I met those stupidly pretty eyes of his—I mean, who has grey eyes—something clicked inside me. Did you feel that way with Viktor?”
Hermione fidgeted, her fingers tearing up a piece of parchment into small bits, before she gave an infinitesimal nod. “At the Cup.” Her voice was more than a whisper. “It felt like...it felt like he was home. Like he could be home.”
Potter sat back. “So what’s the problem?”
Biting her lip, Hermione looked up at her best friend. “Isn’t it obvious? I’m, well, me. And he’s…” she made an all encompassing gesture. “You know. Viktor Krum.”
“That’s not very fair,” Potter said pointedly. “I’m, well, you know,” he mimicked her gesture, “Harry Potter. Does that make me less worthy of having a pair?”
“No,” she hissed. “Don’t be daft. But you’re matched with Malfoy. He’s practically famous in his own right.”
“I don’t snog him because he’s famous.” Harry arched a brow in a carbon copy of Malfoy. “I snog him because I love him. Viktor is just a person, Hermione. A real, living, breathing person, just like me and you. And if you give him the chance, I think you’ll find he’s a lot more than a famous Quidditch player. Magic doesn’t just match people for no reason, you know. Now. Help me not get eaten by a dragon in the First Task.”
The conversation changed topic from there, and Viktor was left standing dazed in the Ancient Charms aisle. She was intimidated by him and unsure of herself. That was it.
A smile spread across his face. He could deal with that.

Harry Potter Fanfiction: Homecoming
Summary: The Granger family is reunited, one of which is accompanied by someone unexpected. AU. COMPLETE.
Disclaimer: Harry Potter is © J.K. Rowling and various publishers including, but not limited to, Bloomsbury Books, Scholastic Books and Raincoast Books in association with Warner Bros. Entertainment.
HOMECOMING
Hermione Granger frowned as she caught sight of her mother peering through the blinds of the front window for the third time in as many minutes.
"Mum, is everything alright?"
"I think someone's watching the house," Mrs. Granger murmured.
Mr. Granger's brow furrowed at the reply. He sat the newspaper he had been reading aside and joined his wife at the window. "Hrm. I believe you're correct, darling."
Hermione and her parents had returned from Australia less than a week ago. After regaining their memories and learning the reason behind their being obliviated, her parents' paranoia was understandable. Who wouldn't feel that way upon being told they had been targeted by a fanatical group of magical supremacists? She knew there would be an adjustment period, that they wouldn't be able to resume to their normal lives without consequence.
"I'm sure it's nothing," she soothed. "Remember, there are protective enchantments surrounding the house. Unless accompanied by someone that actually resides here, the house will go unnoticed."
"You certain about that, poppet?" her father dubiously asked.
This was followed by an exclamation from her mother. "Oh, he's heading up the walk!"
At hearing this, Hermione's eyes widened in shock. Skepticism was forgotten as she sprang into action, withdrawing her wand and hurrying to the entryway. She braced herself for a confrontation while attempting to make sense of the situation. How could someone be approaching their home? This should not be possible. As far as she could tell, her wards had not been breached.
"He's alone?" she questioned.
"Yes." Mr. Granger squinted, taking in the stranger's appearance. "Tall, slender bloke with pale skin and dark hair. A bit grim in the face."
"Sweetheart, maybe you should call for backup," her mother anxiously suggested. "Harry, perhaps? Or Ron?"
Harry was currently staying at the Burrow. If she called Harry, Ron would undoubtedly find out and tag along. And, she really did not want to deal with Ron. He was probably still in a snit regarding her refusal to enter a serious relationship. A logical decision, in her opinion, considering they had just fought a war and were mourning the deaths of numerous friends and loved ones. Shared trauma was not conducive to a healthy relationship, after all.
Fact is, there was not enough time for help to arrive anyway.
"It's fine, mum," Hermione said as she leveled her wand at the door. She would not allow any threat pass the threshold of her home.
"He's carrying something. What's he carrying?"
"My word, could that be...?"
Hermione wondered at what had captured her parents' attention, but dared not shift her focus from the door. Wartime instincts at the fore, she was prepared to fight. The intruder would reach them in a matter of seconds. She began to silently count. One one thousand... two one thousand... three one thousand... four one thousand... then, instead of the anticipated assault, there was a polite knock.
It was at this point that she saw her parents had vacated their post at the window and made their way to the entry as well. She noted that they seemed to have done an about-face, their apprehension replaced by an inexplicable calm. A small, secretive smile even played on her mother's lips.
Another knock resounded.
"You going to answer that, poppet?" Mr. Granger had a twinkle in his eyes that would have put Professor Dumbledore to shame.
Hermione was very confused. "Mum? Dad?"
"Don't you trust your own spellcasting? You did say that the house wouldn't be noticed by anyone that wasn't in the company of a resident, if you recall."
She stated the obvious. "But, we're all here..."
"Are we?" Mrs. Granger prodded.
When there was yet another knock, Hermione kept her wand poised and cautiously advanced. Her heart beat rapidly as she neared the door. She now grasped her mother's meaning, though she could not accept what was hinted at to be true. She had been devastated by the loss of him...
She warily looked into the peephole and was startled at the identity of the person standing outside her home. A gasp escaped her.
"Quit dilly-dallying, Hermione," Mrs. Granger teasingly reprimanded. "It's bad manners to make a guest wait on the stoop!"
Lowering her wand, she used her free hand to unsteadily release the latch. She timidly eased the door open, struggling to control her nerves in the process. Then, for the first time in almost a year, she met the dark, soulful gaze of Viktor Krum.
Relief stole across his austere features upon seeing her. She registered how his entire demeanor softened in her presence, his usual rigidity dissipating, and a wave of nostalgia struck. How often had she witnessed this same reaction during her fourth year at Hogwarts?
"Hermy-own-ninny," he breathlessly greeted.
"Viktor," she responded in kind.
"I apologize for visiting your home vithout an invitation," he prefaced.
"You're always welcome," she countered in a rush.
There was movement in the cradle of Viktor's arms. Breaking eye contact, Hermione glanced down and had to blink away tears. Her beloved half-Kneazle was in the midst of wresting himself loose from Viktor's hold. Once his task had been accomplished, the feline leaped at her.
Hermione came close to buckling from the weight of the large, ginger familiar. Maintaining her balance, she hugged him tight. "Oh, Crooks! You're okay! I thought the worst!"
Crookshanks purred.
"I tried to bring him sooner," Viktor divulged. "However, you ver not here. Potter said you ver out of the country."
"You spoke with Harry?"
"And Ronald, ven I stopped by the Veasleys'," he elaborated. "I fear Ronald vos upset ven Crookshanks objected to being left there, preferring to remain vith me in Bulgaria until you got home."
"Neither of them mentioned it," Hermione muttered.
Viktor's mouth curved upwards. "The blame lies vith me. I vonted to surprise you."
"I'm definitely surprised," she acknowledged. "Grateful, too."
He dismissed her gratitude. "There's no need. Crookshanks has been a good companion these past months."
"Months?"
"He's been vith me since the Delacour-Veasley nuptials," Viktor admitted. "I spotted him ven the Burrow vos under attack. Ve apparated to safety together."
Hermione affectionately kissed the top of Crookshanks' squashed head. "In all that chaos, you went out of your way to save him..."
"Of course," he declared. "You luff him, I couldn't leave him behind."
"You're absolutely wonderful," she praised.
"As are you," he reciprocated with complete sincerity. "I've missed you, Hermy-own-ninny."
Her cheeks reddened. "And I you, Viktor. I promise to be a better correspondent in the future."
"I realize you couldn't write due to the danger. I'm just glad the danger has passed and you're unharmed." His forehead creased in concern and he gave her a careful onceover. "You are unharmed?"
"I'm mending," she honestly revealed. "Plenty suffered more than me, so I can't complain."
"Who suffered more isn't relevant," Viktor gently rebuked. "If you have complaints... if you vont to share vith someone... you should do so. Don't keep it to yourself. And, not to be forward, but I'm at your disposal should you vish it."
Crookshanks mewed in agreement.
He unabashedly continued, "Votever you decide, I'm eager to restart our correspondence ven you're ready. Your letters are special to me."
Hermione sent him a warm smile. "Thank you, Viktor. I may take you up on that offer."
"Ven you've sufficiently recovered, I may even press my luck and ask you to dinner," he jested with an underlying seriousness. "Clearly this vill merely be a ruse so that I can visit vith Crookshanks, as I vill hate to be separated from him for too long."
Her blush reemerged, not believing his ruse in the least. "Clearly."
Mrs. Granger, who had apparently been eavesdropping, chose that moment to interrupt. "Hermione, where are your manners? Invite your friend inside. Ask him to dinner."
Mr. Granger chimed in. "We insist. Crookshanks is quite discerning, so we want to meet the chap he found suitable enough to bring home."
"I'm fairly positive Viktor brought Crookshanks home, not the other way around," she dryly remarked.
"You underestimate Crookshanks," Mr. Granger lightly scolded, as if their present circumstance was owed to the machinations of her familiar.
Hermione's eyes briefly shut in embarrassment.
The half-Kneazle proceeded to jump from her arms and enter the house, intent on reuniting with her parents now that he had heard them. His bottlebrush tail haughtily swayed back and forth as he went.
"Forgive my rudeness, Mr. Krum. Would you like to come in and join Crookshanks... and the rest of us... for dinner?" Hermione inquired.
Viktor grinned broadly. "If it isn't an imposition then yes, Miss Granger, I vould like to join you all for dinner. Especially Crookshanks."
THE END
