Ted Lasso really almost went down the Legend of Korra route. Like Person A dates Person C. They breakup. Person B dates Person C. They breakup. Finally, Person A and Person B date. They live happily ever after. Like it is ideal. If only Ted Lasso hadn't been too afraid to complete the arc. It could have been glorious.
P.S. Incase you didn't realize the people in LoK are Korra, Asami, and Mako. The people in TL are Jamie, Roy, and Keeley.

Other than the Varrick and Zhu Ii wedding at the finale, I don’t believe there’s really any weddings showcased in Avatar, right?
I mean, not that I have to be super dedicated to canon for the wedding in Mend, but I don’t want to forget any super important details. We do know wedding rings are canon, at least somewhat, unless that was also invented by Varrick, which is totally possible. The man would monetize a hole in the ground.
Anyway, thinking of how I want to fully realize this wedding scene. I know a few details but haven’t put down anything concrete yet. But I don’t know why I’m making a big deal of it. Zuko and Sokka are not in a good headspace regarding each other right now lol neither of them are gonna be chill about this.

Rebbie's Media Reviews - Shows I Have Opinions On!
The Legend of Korra - Book 1
Tumblr media
Just recently finished this first season and wanted to log my thoughts. There's a lot of cool ideas floating around in this show, aiming towards a more Victorian-era infused with bending. It gives this show a whole different identity to the original show, which is honestly a wise decision. Similarly, joining Korra in a totally different phase of her journey is a smart decision. It might take some skill to do so, but it's a really nice idea. Seeing how she overcomes a totally different set of challenges is what gives the show its appeal! The characters are decent, though I would argue not much has been learnt about them yet. The humour is far less powerful, which puts even more emphasis on the ability for the characters to be entertaining and interesting. No one is unlikable (though Tenzin's son is VERY annoying), but there's also not much to most of them yet. Korra is headstrong in contrast to the more measured Aang, Tenzin is JK Simmons so he's pretty cool, but I'd say the only truly engaging character arc in our heroes belongs to Asami, who does have a pretty interesting angle with her storyline. We also have a really engaging villain in Amon, who raises a super interesting point about bender supremacy. I did know that he wasn't exactly handled well going in, but he was super scary and cool for the majority! His backstory may forgo some of the intricacies of his point, but if it we had focused more on the benders taking some accountability, I could excuse this as they could essentially expose him but work on what his points were. The backstory was also definitely engaging!
However, episode 12 was not very good truth be told. First off, we have the battle of two nonsensical plans. Korra, instead of using her new knowledge of him to expose him subtly as was implied by Tarlok saying "no one must know you spoke to me", she immediately accuses him with no evidence but an unheard source. It's in character that she would try this, but we could see some growth where either by Mako's suggestion or his discouragement of the plan or just her changing her mind in this case. But the equalists start to believe her anyway, at which point now it's time for Amon's lazy argument. He claims he was burnt by a firebender and so can't be a waterbender, revealing the scar... This doesn't show anything! It makes more sense that this story would work as the crowd is on his side, but NEITHER OF THESE ARGUMENTS HOLD ANY WEIGHT! At least try to expose him with evidence! Like maybe she fights him and removes the mask, but he has the scar! Shock! Then they have to escape briefly or get captured, and it eventually leads to the fight we got later on, with the Lieutenant seeing him bloodbend and the like. I also think the way he is actually exposed is a bit silly, because what an over the top, no brains thing to do from the scary, calculated Amon. He had to know there would be people outside who see the giant water tower he made!
Tumblr media
Korra having her bending taken away was a really bold choice that I was interested in! We've seen her with these powers, but we now get a totally different journey of her using Avatar skills to restore them! Cool! And this unlocked her airbending! Kinda makes no sense, but cool too! You can explain that! But then, after a whole emotional deal about this loss, she activates the Avatar state for the first time and... she just got it back... AND the ability to bring back others' bending... it just feels like a really short-sighted decision. Seeing not only this journey for Korra but also the ways characters had to deal with the loss of their bending would have been so interesting! Why did they do this?
My other complaint is the focus. So much of the show has centered around the love "square"... or whatever where Korra likes Mako and he kinda likes her but he's dating Asami and Bolin likes Korra. There is absolutely a place for this and I'm actively a fan of romance bubbling away in the show. However, this felt like such a heavy focus, and not even in a way where it's something cracking and changing under heavy circumstances, because it's all so new. If this was after a season of these relationship being shown and in the background, and this big threat is changing things, that could be cool. But as of yet, I have no reason to care! Much like how the romantic side was the weakest part of the original, this is the weakest part of Korra.
However, I began to enjoy this show more as we expanded the world and cast! Seeing Iroh and Bumi appear in intriguing and makes me excited to meet more of these characters! It's probably just a damning indictment that the best parts are the throwbacks...
Also, one quick note: Tarlok and Amon's final scene was wild for a Nick show. That was the best part of that finale, brilliantly put together and emotional.
But overall, Book 1 was a decent show that had good moments but one fairly weak and distressing episode, and it feels like nothing has been achieved except Korra is the other woman in a relationship between her friends now.
I think so far I can't give this any higher than a 3 out of 5, because it is still Avatar, and Avatar is cool, but this is pretty weak, especially compared to the brilliant original.

Listening to someone else watch the original ATLA again, just starting season 3, and there's this line where Aang suggests that it didn't just look like he died, but he DID actually die and Katara brought him back. And look, I don't know much about the lore introduced by TLOK, but this sounds like a really fun place to start an AU inspired by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"'s take on the temporary death and resurrection of a cyclical chosen one: Aang is brought back to life and is STILL the Avatar, but his temporary death still also causes another Avatar to be born into the Southern Water Tribe (or Swamp People or refugees on some southern island, whatever).
Like, I know the Avatar is a reincarnation thing, but weird things can happen with spirits! Maybe this glitch in the cycle causes the spiritual equivalent of mitosis to happen to the Avatar and the spirit attached to them, so there's just two of them now! Maybe having two Avatars has some spiritual downsides, maybe not, it's up to whatever path you choose to explore in this AU.
I just think it would be really funny for post-canon 21yo Aang (and the Gaang and the White Lotus and all the spiritual / religious orders on the planet) to suddenly be confronted with a 10yo water tribe kid who is ALSO the Avatar.
A water tribe couple shuffle awkwardly up to Sokka, like, "Sooooo... we think our 10 year old daughter might be the Avatar...? She can, uh, bend all the elements and all that. Look at this shit." And Sokka is like, "Fuck, Aang is dead?!" Before he's like, "Wait, I saw Aang last week, this kid is way too old?!" And he has to hastily contact Aang like, "Hey, buddy, you're still alive, right?" And Aang can only reply, "Uhhh, last I checked, yes?!?!"
It's probably Sokka and Katara who put the pieces of the timeline together and figure out what caused this, because all of the other Avatars are probably initially like, "Yeah, I have no idea what's happening here. I'm you and you're me, but I'm also her and she's also me, and you and her are kind of the same person, but you're obviously different people now? Wow! Good luck figuring all that out, kid! You're really going places none of us have gone before! A real groundbreaker!"
Aang, through gritted teeth, "I am really not TRYING to do that, thank you!"

Alright animation fans, this is the big test.
On Christmas Day Star Trek Prodigy season 1 will be released on Netflix. This is a new 3D animated young adult animated series that was removed from Paramount+ as a tax write off, and was only saved through an amazing grass roots campaign by fans to be picked up by Netflix so that it’s second season could be aired.
If you like serialized storytelling in kids shows, watch Star Trek Prodigy.
If you like Star Trek, watch Star Trek Prodigy.
If you know absolutely nothing about Star Trek, watch Star Trek Prodigy.
If you like The Owl House, Gravity Falls, Avatar the Last Airbender, or Legend of Korra, watch Star Trek Prodigy.
If you’re angry at studios cancelling animated shows prematurely or treating kids animation like trash, watch Star Trek Prodigy.
If you couldn’t afford a Paramount+ account but have a Netflix account, watch Star Trek Prodigy.
If you like episodic content with a serialized story, watch Star Trek Prodigy.
If you have kids and want them to get into Star Trek but don’t know where to start, watch Star Trek Prodigy.
If you like sci-fi, watch Star Trek Prodigy
If you like colorful characters, gorgeous animation, a serious storyline with lots of character growth and high stakes, watch Star Trek Prodigy.
This show has been neglected by Paramount+ and it’s gotten a rare second chance. The first month a show is released on Netflix is the most crucial time of all because the viewership will determine its fate going forward. A second season has already been finished (it was nearly completed when Paramount cancelled it), but if we want to see more beyond this season we need Netflix to see that we care about it and that their risk in picking up the show is warranted.
Please. Help us save this show. It’s SO GOOD, and it was treated like garbage by Paramount+. Help us stick it to Paramount and show everyone what a great show this actually is. Help us make Paramount regret their decision. Help kids animation continue to thrive and show it’s worth! Help bring in more people into the Star Trek fandom! Help us now! Please!

"I'm always lucky, Ronnie. You were lucky to be born."
Hello everyone!!! I'm doing some dark sketches today. Meet Izumi and Bumi's youngest daughter, Hina. In my version of the canon with my friend, she travels across continents, and in this one she strives to take the place of her mother and become the next dictator.
Iroh gets caught in a storm in this universe and was declared dead, which gave her a chance to become an heiress. Iroh renounces his family and finds peace with the airbenders and confronts his parents in the final battle.
Iroh and Hina are called "Blue Spirits" because of the color of their flames. Izumi and Bumi are unaware of their enmity and the power of competition. For them, both of their children are the most valuable thing they have.

And I also started the picture with Toph, Lin and Su, and I intend to finish it within, I don't know, a week?
