There hadn't been enough character playlists featuring the kremling king that I'd found, so I decided it was time for me to mend that! With cover art babyyyy!

I made sure to pick songs referencing the games, tv show and his delightfully devilish personality, along with nods to Return to Krocodile Isle, and songs I think he would absolutely KILL singing. From glam rock, to new alternative, this playlist has many layers and moods to it, just like King K. Rool.

He is one of my all-time favorite characters and mains in Smash, like many others in here. The love and passion this fandom has not just for King K. Rool, but for Donkey Kong as a whole, is unmatched. I had wanted to post this on K. Rool Day but time had gotten away from me lol, but I still got to spend it playing Diddy's Kong Quest for the first time and that's been a blast to play through too, finding all the Krem Koins in each level. If he's not the main villain in the Donkey Kong movie, I'm suing. I love Donkey Kong, I love King K. Rool and I can't wait to make more art until the next K. Rool day!

Various Hello Puppets headcanons #2

Hello everyone, I have some more headcanons I would like to share. Again, this is a mess of headcanons, and some might show up in my main fic. Mainly fun/wholesome stuff, but some darker stuff as well

Daisy knows “Scandinavian”, and what I mean by that is that she knows a mix between Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish, cuz back in the show days they didn’t have the best translator on the team, so it just became a mess 

Riley probably knows german, she just has the vibes, you know

Mortimer knows Latin, as well as Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek (those were the languages the spell book was written in)

Nick knows a lot of languages and picks up new ones pretty easily. He mainly uses it so he can enjoy plays and music in its original language

I think Nick would like the play “Peer Gynt” by Norwegian dramatist Henrik Ibsen, cuz it’s a very interesting and dramatic story, and everything is actually said in rhyme. I feel like Daisy helped him translate it from Norwegian. If you have no clue what I am talking about, you have probably heard the song “in the hall of the mountain king” which is from this play

Riley is a coffee “addict”, but the only times she can get it is when she steals from people she kidnaps to become hosts. She is very happy puppets can’t die of caffeine overdose, or else she would be on thin ice- Edit: I have been reminded of Riley cola by @lookineedsleep so yeah, Riley being caffeine addicted is pretty much canon

Mortimer is really good at card games, and knows all the card tricks there are to know

Riley hides away whenever she feels strong emotions, either positive or negative. Either she smiles or cries, she will turn her back to everyone in the room, trying to hide her true emotions. She tends to shake tho when her emotions are negative, so you can usually tell. The reason she hides away is because “she is a woman of science, and shouldn’t let her emotions get to her”, it’s a way for her to rationalize why she does it to herself (her emotions are also used against her in canon so-)

All the puppets would probably appreciate a weighted blanket, I think they need that. Personally, I wish I had one, I think it would solve a lot of my problems, and therefore I am projecting it onto them

Riley would be so pissed when she finds out Pluto is no longer classified as a planet (and who can blame her? Viva la Pluto)

Scout enjoys stop motion movies, she thinks it’s a very neat way of making movies, and knowing how much effort and care and how many hours go into it, she appreciates it more than many other movies 

If the Handeemen had known that Scout was made by Owen, she would have been treated completely differently, regardless of if they knew why she was created

I think the funniest family dynamic you can have with these puppets is that the Handeemen are the siblings close in age, while Scout is the “surprise baby” years later. Like that one video: “Do you want a beer?” “Dude, he’s four.” “I don’t know, what am I supposed to do with him????”

All the Handeemen steal from hotels if they visit them. Nick would probably steal soaps and lotions if they smell good. Daisy would take the drinks in the mini-fridge (you usually have to pay for it so). Mortimer just takes all the tea in the breakfast area. Riley and Scout would steal the weirdest stuff and get away with it, like they take the shower head or the remote control for the tv. Scout has stolen the entire tv at least 3 times as well (kudos to the Culteemen (specifically @dreamland-creations and @yourlocalnicknackkinnie) for this headcanon)

Riley adores astronomy! You can't tell me this lady wouldn't love stars, galaxies, and everything in the night sky. She is practically the only one who leaves the studio anyway (to kidnap hosts, and only during the night), and when she manages to take small breaks, she just watches the stars that are visible. She has wanted to start making a star map for so long, but has never gotten the time, and there are barely any good star-watching spots near the studio (there's a lot of light pollution in the area)

Since Riley is the one leaving (and kidnapping) the most, she is also the one most physically harmed of the Handeemen. She has some scratches, a couple of dents, and of course her mouth injury (but that was caused inside the studio). She also picks on her fingers, so they are pretty damaged, which is why she constantly wears her gloves to minimize the damage and not show it to the others

Riley and Scout when they are not enemies are the best and most chaotic duo. Being with Scout allows Riley to infodump a lot about different things she is researching/experimenting with at the moment, and in turn, Scout can infodump about shows and games. Scout might tease Riley about her liking Lord of the rings, but she loves the series too much as well to actually be hurtful with it (*sobs in my headcanons that Riley would have been a great older sister/mentor for Scout, but I know it will never be canon*)

Scout never sleeps a full 8 hours, but also takes naps throughout the day so she technically gets enough sleep. She sleeps the best around her host (Bee in my au), as they are the safest person she knows

Riley does not get enough sleep, ever. All the Handeemen have had to force her to go to sleep before, Daisy mainly does this task tho

The rest of them have pretty decent sleep schedules tho, except for the occational sleepless night they all experience

I think it's obvious by now who my favorites are… Scout and Riley my beloveds

The Kalorlon pass was a narrow corridor between the mountains that linked the Unzathun region with Kalorlon lands. In the past, it was home to a river that functioned as a trade route between Koine and Selorthan kingdoms. Almost all the trades between the domains traveled through it, and merchant caravans were a common sight. Still, the river began to dry up when the war came, and with the lowering of the river, moving along the route became more complicated. Kalorlon Pass became a dangerous path where thieves abounded, and eventually, people stopped using it. Now it was a practically deserted path, used only by inexperienced people who ended up lost or by people who wanted to travel from one kingdom to another without being detected.

    Beatrice and the messenger walked in complete silence for hours, with no other sound than their breathing. Following the path the river had left when it dried up, they didn't stop to rest or eat. The sun was in full view and warmed everything around them when Camila stopped and turned to look at Beatrice; the messenger was studying her.

    "Is everything alright?" Beatrice asked

    "I was wondering if it would be wise to keep going."

    "Why shouldn't we?"

    "Well, we are about to enter the 'thieves den.' Things will only get complicated from here."

"Michael E. Bivins went to the KPTV studios in Beaverton and demanded to talk with a reporter, police said. Beaverton police responded to the TV station and in coordination with [Portland Police Bureau] arrested him," the network reported. The alleged incidents occurred over multiple days.

The next day the Muslim Community Center of Portland was damaged in an arson. Menghangatkan Kenangan~

Dulu, moment 17-an adalah moment yang sangat ditunggu kehadirannya. Hadiah bertebaran dimana-mana, berpindah-pindah tempat mencari keramaian; karena disana pasti ada perlombaan. Sekadar ikut memeriahkan, beberapa perlombaan diikuti meskipun harus dengan paksaan. Lomba balap karung, makan kerupuk, kelereng, sampai memasukan paku ke botol. Sisanya, jadi penonton saja. Apalagi panjat pinang, atau mencabut koin dari pepaya yang dilumuri oli. Haha. MaasyaAllah...

Pagi-pagi diramaikan dengan persiapan karnaval, begitu meriah dengan kreativitas yang tidak kalah menarik dari berbagai wilayah. Sampai-sampai, ada yang menghadirkan mobil-mobilan khas tentara yang dilengkapi dengan "lodong". Satu tebakan saja, menggemparkan satu kampung. Haha.

Kenangan yang indah, bukan?

Pulang menjelajah perlombaan dengan segondol hadiah ditangan. Padahal, jika dipikir-dipikir hadiahnya pun tidak begitu menarik. Hanya 1 buah pensil/ pulpen, buku, terkadang mie instan, atau juga kaos yang tidak bermotif, tapi kepuasannya mengalahkan segalanya.

Bahkan tidak dapat apa-apa, karena sebuah kekalahan. Haha.

Masa yang tidak akan pernah kembali.

Hari ini, semuanya tersaksikan hanya disebuah ingatan. Jangankan mengikuti perlombaan, turun kejalanan pun rasanya berat; banyak alasan. Dulu, badan tegap berdiri mengikuti upacara yang begitu lama. Sampai-sampai, pernah pingsan karena terlalu lama berdiri. Sekarang, hanya bisa menyaksikan dilayar TV atau nonton streaming.

Masa tidak akan pernah kembali walau satu detik pun. Maka, manfaatkan dengan sebaik-baiknya. Nikmati hidup. Karena semuanya takkan berulang.

Do you have any faovrite enemies and/or bosses in the Donkey Kong country trilogy? Note K. Rool is discounted as he's a main character.

Hard to narrow it down especially as somebody who loves crocodiles and alligators. I think the whole Kremling Crew in DKC1 is fantastic. The TV show may have made me biased towrad Krusha and Klump, they're hilarious.

I think the Kremling designs in DKC3 are pretty weak compared to the first two games since they have no fun outfits to spice up their designs, it's just a bunch of naked crocodiles. I think Kopter is the only one that seems on par with past Kremlings. And Koin is pretty decent.

If I had to narrow it down to one in particular, I'm going with Kannon, which doubles for Klump since it's confirmed it's just Klump in a pirate costume. The TV series nods to this by making Skurvy the long lost brother of General Klump.

Maybe the DEI hiring at the airlines isn’t a good idea. We had three airline mishaps in a row. They weren’t all Boeing. One incident involved a United Airlines Boeing 737 Max. An engine went on fire, and the landing gear started to fall off as the plane landed, crushing cars in a parking lot.

It’s only a matter of time before there is a disaster. Whether bad hiring and promotion policies are to blame or note, DEI has no place in airlines and medicine. This might not be connected, but it needs to be considered.

United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Frontier Airlines, American Airlines, and Boeing all have a DEI policy. Are they hiring their best or just people who fit some criteria?

Embattled Alaska Airlines is at the center of a second aviation drama after a plane arrived at an airport gate in Portland, Ore. last Friday with its cargo door open.

According to local TV station KOIN, the cargo hold was stowing passengers’ pets, although none of the animals were injured. The plane had flown in from Los Cabos, Mexico.

Boeing and Alaska Airlines are already amid a $1B lawsuit over plane safety.

In the other incident, according to Frontier Airlines, their aircraft was parked at the gate at MIA, preparing to board passengers for a flight to Dallas-Fort Worth, when an American Airlines aircraft pushed back from its gate and came in contact with the Frontier aircraft.

“Only crew members were on board the Frontier aircraft then, and no injuries were reported. Frontier is currently assessing damage and re-accommodating customers,” Frontier said in a statement.

YEAR OF THE FANGAN - FEBRUARY EDITION

ꕥ DANGANRONPA THEAFTER ꕥ

Here's something you should know about me: I'm a frequent enjoyer of the "Fan Works" section of Danganronpa's TV Tropes page. It's always a blast to see what creators / fans of certain works create pages for and, while I've yet to check out most of the stuff on there, it's made me invested in several fangans. And one of those pages was for TheAfter, a video series I've put off actually checking out until now. (and who I apparently have this Absolute Chad to thank for it? Amazing work, king). Needless to say, this story exceeded all expectations I had for it!

Most of my enjoyment comes from how damn good the central mystery is, something that slowly unravels across each chapter. Obvious spoilers ahead (albeit ones I'll try to keep minimal), but said mystery revolves around a second class that was massacred, the connection between their circumstance and the current classes', and a character that was present for both events. Not only is seeing more information about this second class a blast to see, but so is how they tie into certain characters and their motivations.

Outside of that, another highlight for me is Konoe's effects on the narrative. While she's not my favorite character in this story or anything, I adore her for allowing the story to feel light and breezy, with even the more serious moments involving her feeling like they have an optimistic edge to them. This is exemplified in Chapter 1 super well, where her good nature actually seems to help one of her classmates for the better.

Dovetailing into another point of discussion, this perspective also makes her a super fun foil to Tachihaki. Both are very much the narrative yin and yang to one another, with her optimistic and personable nature clashing hard with his pessimistic and aloof personality. Any scene the two share is super fun, and helps carry the story for me.

That's not to say I don't like the other characters as well, because I think the class is super solid. Even with characters painted in an negative light, I can't bring myself to dislike anyone either due to their fun personalities, or seeing what their perspectives on the events killing game are. Seriously, any of these guys could be honorable mentions for my "Other Standout Characters".

With that said, please check this thing out! While it's a little hard to understand at times (the fangan's in another language, and is heavily reliant on subtitles to make sense of), it's nonetheless worth your attention!

FORMAT: Video

WHERE TO FIND IT: Youtube (and personal tip for watching: use the user-created English subtitles until they're no longer available, then switch open to Auto-Translate Chinese to English. It's not perfect, but the timing of the subtitles is accurate / the plot's still coherent.)

FAVORITE CHAPTER: Chapter 2. This chapter's absolutely stacked with content. POV splitting to help flesh out a side character? A motive that puts a fracture in the cast / shows off the true colours of people? The batshit insanity that is episode 14? It's all here! And, add in a trial led by an incredible antagonistic force, and you've got yourself some top-tier fangan content!

FAVORITE CHARACTER: Ryohei Seki. True to his title of the Ultimate Police Officer, Ryohei conducts himself as a calm, gentle person whose greatest desire in life is to be an embodiment of justice. Dependable, helpful and a respected figure to the class, he- oh. OH.

OTHER STANDOUT CHARACTERS: Tachihaki Hatami, for the reasons I've already listed in the overview above (and for me just enjoying his edgy "I'm not here to make friends" personality), and Koin Hatoyama, who quickly went from "guy in the prologue who's fine, I guess" to "holy shit this guy's emotional maturity about being an entertainer is really great, how was I sleeping on this guy before" (and is also my main suspect for either the traitor or mastermind, but that's neither here nor there).
