Various Hello Puppets headcanons #1

Hello everyone, it is Halloween today, which is freakin awesome, but I am not doing anything special so that means yall will get some content instead This is a varying mess of headcanons, and some might make an appearance in my fic as well. It will also have some spoilers from Midnight Show, so beware if you haven't watched/played all of it yet This will get kinda dark, but there's also some wholesome stuff

None of the puppets knows who made Scout, but since she was made by Owen, the Handeemen have felt more kinship to her than other felt puppets. Scout is the only felt puppet made by Owen

Even 30 years after Midnight Show, there are a lot of spare felt puppet parts in the studio, so new felt puppets will be made when needed, mainly made by Daisy. Felt puppets who fail their tests tho (and they all eventually do) get turned into sock puppets. The sock puppets are therefore amalgamations of different felt puppets

Does Riley know what fiction is now after all these years? Yes, but she is in heavy denial. She clings to her evolution theory and still reads “Dr. Tolkien” and his works. Only Daisy knows she still reads it (her old copy of the book being a comfort object), but Nick teases her about it at times

Riley and Nick are a dog lover and a cat lover respectively, but with affection, Riley shows it like a cat and Nick like a dog. Nick will show you what he has done immediately and demands affection, but if Riley is near you in a non-threatening way she pretends it’s a coincidence 90% of the time, 9% is saying it’s easier being around you than the others, 1% is actually showing she wants affection

Scout is a natural with technology, but a lot of technology is not made for her hands. And while she is more of a TV person, she enjoys books, but the “not being able to read English” is very stuck in her, or she has dyslexia, so Host reads to her and she listens to audiobooks

While Daisy got more control of her Danger side thanks to Riley, she still has her moments where she blacks out in anger. It's scary for everyone involved, for her too

Riley has astraphobia, aka the phobia of thunderstorms and lightning. She is the one outside the studio the most, and while she is very careful, she was surprised by the weather once. While from a scientific view it was highly interesting, a lightning bolt struck the ground close to her at that time. She never got over it

On the show, Riley and Nick have their birthday the day after each other (Riley is the youngest). In reality, Riley is the oldest, being made first of the three Handeemen. Of course, Mortimer is the oldest of them all

The actual Scout is Scout Prime, the others are: Spacey (space buns), George (British invasion), Blaze (Red hair), and Royal/Reagan (Royal purple)

Music was a very big part of the show. Each episode had its own small jingle thingy, usually at the end as a "we did it" song. So all the puppets are very fond of music. They also know at least one instrument each. Mortimer knows the guitar, Daisy plays the piano and flute, and Riley plays the violin. Nick obviously knows a lot of instruments, but his main ones are the piano, the cello, and his singing voice. Scout knows the triangle and the ukelele, as not many instruments fit her size

All the puppets have good singing voices. The Handeemen actually have an assigned voice in choir each. Daisy is a soprano (lightest female), Riley is an alto (darkest female), Nick is a tenor (lightest male), and Mortimer is a bass (darkest male). Both Riley and Nick can switch between lightest and darkest tho (Riley= soprano/alto, Nick= tenor/bass). Scout would be soprano as well, but do more distinct/assigned kid voices

Riley refuses to sing anymore tho, so they are no longer a full choir. There have been extremely few cases, but sometimes the others manage to coax Riley into singing, either with blackmail or just join her when she hums absentmindedly. She gets embarrassed tho

Nick and Riley know how to do “Anything you can do” from Annie, get your gun perfectly, and they did it on the show for a musical episode. Both still remember it very well and fondly, but since Riley refuses to sing, and it reminds them of their show days, they don't sing it anymore

Listen, I know that in Hello Puppets they most likely refer to each other like family in a cult context but I cannot help but imagine that Riley and Nicks rivalry in the show is similar to a sibling dynamic in the way that it's petty and goofy! So this is probably more so of a headcanon on their dynamic if that makes any sense (since we don't get to see it in action merely hinted at in various ways).

I'm talking like they argue about stupid pointless stuff, whose better at what. But! Sometimes they burst into each other's room unannounced just to wack something off a nearby table or desk, stare, say nothing and leave. And obviously they don't close the door on the way out to be more obnoxious. Or worse, be the most obnoxious person existence and start asking really dumb stuff or just start screaming unprovoked and like not in the way where they're blaming each other for something (which they've probably done) I'm talking just full on screeching.

Or the classic pointing and saying "your gay/a bitch/ugly/etc" unprovoked just to be an ass.

Continuing on the leaving the door open I feel like Nick specifically has slowly opened the door long enough for it to make a long and loud ass squeaky screeching noise while Riley was trying to work. Nick most likely got chased out.

Daisy has most likely had to grip them by the ears and lecture them on being nicer to one another.

As for Mortimer I feel like he doesn't do too much about it, but in canon he most definitely has yelled at them to knock it off atleast once.

the way you two met is unclear, nor does it matter, really. he felt a magnet pull to you. not in a 'smitten' or 'love at first sight' way, but in an intrigued and 'i wonder how far i can bend them until they break' way. totally normal. it wasn't until barnaby pointed out his growing fascination with you that he was more than comfortable acting on it.

romancing? oh, do you mean terrorizing? his way of showing affection would be letting you know he's there. always watching, and also sending you suspicious packages and...love letters'. these letters can range from...slightly affectionate threats to being downright cryptic. all lovingly written in red ink and cursive and brought to your mailbox! how did he get your address? haha! don't worry about it! (except maybe do.)

he took the advice from barnaby, by the way. resident 'lady killer'.(he is anything but in fact he likes men.) blame that guy.

when he finally and inevitably does make the decision to start seeking you out, it's small things at first. he shows up to your job in his usual disguise accompanied by howdy, of course. if you go to church he shows up there. 'small world.', he says. on the inside he smirks when you believe him. he totally hasn't followed you, figured out your schedule, where you live-- your friends and family...who would go looking for you if you went 'missing'. it's a shame really. happens all too often in the city you live in. easily covered up too. money and blackmail do wonders when the cops are just as human as the citizens.

more than anything, he loves seeing what makes you tick. shy away. what causes you to avert your eyes. he found out pretty quickly you don't like being stared at and felt joy. he loves staring. especially at you. he also loves it when you try and brush off how uncomfortable you really are. cute.

keep in mind that when he does come to you in his disguised form, you do NOT know it's him. in fact, if anything he would make sure that you don't know what he (wally) looks like. he would send you letters from the comfort of his home, and have someone else mail them. watch you from the shadows, or just have howdy do it. he does not have to go out of his way to have access to you.

at the end of the day his goal is simple: befriend you. make you trust him. make you his. let it be by taking your eye and making you a part of the neighborhood, or by keeping you locked away...or maybe he'll just keep you living in fear for the rest of your days. who knows. either option sounds entertaining to him.

one day, you open up to him about your stalker...and he can barely contain the joy he feels at how scared you sound. he comforts you, of course. when you tell him how you feel about the letters and packages, he almost slips up in his charade, so close to letting you know how he felt making them. he resists, of course, letting you think you just confided in someone trustworthy...nope!

the closer you two get, the more sides he sees of you. the more sides he sees of you the more he begins to realize you're not just another bird to cage. his interest in you grows. it's almost maddening. he learns more and more about you from you, and other people and sources all while keeping him and his neighborhood out of sight. you don't need to know about them...not yet.

he loves how alive you are, mostly. you have free will, and you love doing things with it. you have hobbies and friends, and you keep in touch with family (even if you don't he finds that interesting too dw). he thinks you're lovely, and your eye would be lovelier if it was his. bonus points if you have some sort of eye deformity/birth defect (lazy eye, messed up pupil etc)

the stalking stops for a bit. everything seems calm. you feel like you can just live your life again, and everything feels like it's normal. you start going out again and having fun. you meet up with someone. what you didn't know, is that just because the letters and packages have stopped, doesn't mean he has.

one thing leads to another, and you receive a new letter. same cursive. same ink. same seal. you open it, to see pictures:

of you, and them. on the piece of paper nestled and folded in the envelope, written in cursive is a message: '𝓌𝒶𝓉𝒸𝒽 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓇𝓈𝑒𝓁𝒻, 𝓃𝑒𝒾𝑔𝒽𝒷𝑜𝓇'

of course, just like he planned, you're back into his arms again. where you belonged. seeing you with someone else made him a little more sure of what kind of emotions he had for you. you were no different to howdy to him. that was clear now. you needed someone to keep you in line and in check, otherwise, you would wander off off of the face of the earth. that was not good. you wouldn't have to walk aimlessly for much longer. he would give you a purpose. you're too pathetic as you are now to be any use to him besides eye candy.

in the end, he realizes that he has to have you, by any means. you have to be his, under his wing, and make yourself useful like his other neighbors. like howdy. however you choose to do that is your choice, but what you don't have a choice in is having something to do with him. he will be in your life. either by shadow or memory. waking, or nightmare. he's content with both.

sooner or later, you and his 'other self' would become close enough for you to be invited to his house. you didn't question how big it was seeing as how you know he's a famous painter. nor did you question how many people lived with him. soon, the choice would have to be made. what will he do with you? will he keep you, or let you go free? only time will tell.

Hello Puppets Headcanons: Injuries

This is the injuries all of my interps and OCs from Hello Puppets and Hello Puppets: Midnight Show have.

Nick Nack:

Fire damage. His arms are badly scarred but he covers it up with his turtleneck and jacket.

A crack on the left side of his face from when Mortimer got so angry at him he physically threw him and he hit the wall.

Riley Ruckus:

Her jaw and mouth. Similar to Nick's face, Mortimer once lost his temper so badly he ripped off her mouth. She managed to fix it but it's still crooked so she wears the mask Nick made for her to cover it.

One of her arms is also fire damaged, although not as badly as Nick.

Bella The Ballerina:

Her eyes. Her eyes are mismatched because she got into a physical fight with Mortimer over how he treats Nick and he ripped out her eye. Owen replaced it but couldn't find one that matched.

Her cracks. Her entire body is covered in cracks from Mortimer losing his temper with her.

Her entire body is also covered in small holes from ripping her strings off (she's a marionette unlike a hand puppet like the others)

Ashley Anderson:

A circular scar going right around her wrist from where Scout was attached to her arm.

Scarred lips from where she cut the stitches on her mouth.

Olivia Gubberson:

Many scars from her and Owens' father - she always took beatings for him whenever she could.

Scarring on one of her arms and her side from the fire as she lost consciousness as the building burned down. She didn't know but it was Owen that dragged her out and brought her to Ashley and her friends.

Headcanons for Nick Nack

Since I have mentioned that I like to make Headcanons so I decided to make one rn. Starting off with Nick cause I've got a lot to say. some of them would be silly, wholesome or something like that. (I might make my confessions about Nick but THERE ARE NO NSFW CONFESSIONS FROM ME)

Headcanons

in general

I headcanon him to be mixed race. Chinese French to be specific (Hehe putting mixed headcanons into a character cause I'm also mixed but ethnicity wise)

He's Riley's younger step brother

His age is set to about 30

He knows how to speak 3 languages (English, French and Mandarin) but he does know phrases from a few different languages.

Nick can sing in different languages a is able to sound fluent while singing those songs.

He sings really beautifully. His step sister would say that he sounds like a dying animal but she secretly enjoys it.

He is the least favored out of the Handeemen

He has an eye color changing mechanism that was later added and was an idea that Owen came up with before he was going to make it.

He has "Colored contacts" to change his eye color since his head structure is a little different from the others.

He has faceplates that can be changed.

In game

If someone says that he's their favorite, he'll cry and thank them. He also would let you go since he doesn't wanna kill a fan of his.

He somehow lost his colored contacts. but they are still there somewhere in the studio.

He is often jealous of everyone else because they are more favored than him.

He always wanted Owen attention and would get jealous of Mortimer because Owen always pays attention to him.

Human ver.

Nick Nack has very fluffy and wavy hair but almost nobody knows since he always uses either hairspray or hair gel when ever he come out of his changing room and everyone is there.

He mostly keeps this a secret because he doesn't want anyone touching his hair. The crew knows that he has fluffy hair but is always jumped by it cause they rarely see it.

Nick Nack is the tallest out of the group.

The man also wears heels and he can RUN with them on like no problem.

Good Nick Nack (Spell causes the puppets to come alive and everything went well scenario)

Nick Nack would draw portraits of the Handeemen and even Owen of course.

Nick Nack would definitely annoy his step sister, Riley with his puns and jokes.

The man would be very encouraging when it comes to anything about art. he would give tips, criticism and things like that.

If someone has an insecurity about something he can help them with that. (If they had an insecurity of their voice, he'll tell them its beautiful and if they had an insecurity of their appearence he'll tell them that they look good and he would defend them if someone says anything about it.

Nick Nack is also insecure of his appearance since some people are creeped out by it. (Reference to the comment section on his fandom wiki page)

Nick carries a little flash light around just to do something like this:

if Nick hears anyone singing during work hours he'll applaud them after they are done which startles them a lot. (Scenario: Imagine you were singing while doing your job and you heard Nick applauding and he said "What a beautiful voice you have")

The man sings 24/7 but when 3am strikes he goes batshit.

Theories + Headcanons of the sock puppet

She may not be that important but there is something about her I’m still curious about. She is heard in the tapes meaning she was made before the strange events of Hello Puppets. She still speaks inaudible words, yet still seem to be close to the Handeemen for some reason. She can be heard during Nick Nack’s tapes during there Tea Party as if she’s part of the group so this got me thinking of what she really is.

Mortimer could had asked Riley to make another puppet from scratch but since none of them can really make or can’t replicate Owen’s skills to make a wood puppet, a sock puppet had to be another option. Having to improvise using old fabrics, a yellow wig, & quite possibly used living remains & body parts to make her.

None of the Handeemen seem to well…tolerate each other that much, they all have sprouted there personalities & identity when first come up to life. All somewhat having some selfishness, but making a completely new puppet out of socks could be like an experiment. Creating something living with no first thoughts of personality yet & playing with the way of bringing puppets to life by themselves, which Kathy is the first.

When Kathy was first risen to life she may have started confused about her existence of what she was. Started to screaming in pain & shock until Mortimer had to calm her down & started telling her purpose. He could have convinced Kathy like the others that he was there father & that humans, or “hosts” are just foul & putrid.

After the day she came to life she had already started to fit in with the wooden puppets. She had now joined there tea parties & got tagged along with there heinously deeds. Kathy had witnesses many scenarios of bloodshed, kidnapping, & family dinners & had already see nothing wrong with it & thought it’s just all normal in a puppet’s life.

This is just be a funny one but Kathy can even be almost smart as Riley. She’d had got Riley riled up with her sometimes. Kathy herself had just know a lot of algebra & multiplication just in a few weeks. Why? It just happened! That was the start she’d started to question things a bit more.

Might make a part 2 of this maybe idk

The same paintbrushes are also good tools against him

He doesn't just laugh, he fucking CACKLES

Hello Puppets deserves more love

It honestly does, so my contribution to this underdog of a fandom is to provide some Human AU headcanons that plague my mind while I’m supposed to be at work! I swear, my coworkers are onto me...

1. Daisy grew up in a small, rural town in Georgia where her family still lives, and she feels bad that she doesn’t visit as often as they’d want her to. Nick was raised in New York City, and he deliberately never visits because his family is super toxic and he knows he deserves better. 

2. Mortimer was a substitute teacher for Owen as a kid, and was the first person to offer him emotional support. Now that they work together, Owen will seek him out for positive affirmations, or Mortimer will try to help him understand why people got mad at him when he did something wrong. 

3. Riley has daddy issues almost as bad as Owen, after her father died in a work-related accident when she was young. That was the catalyst to her insistence on workplace safety. If someone complains about it near her, she’ll kick them out of her lab.

4. After cursing in front of the child guests on multiple occasions, Harper is banned from being near the film set while they have a live audience. She also has a separate list of rules Owen wrote specifically for her to follow, including “No sharing inside jokes with visitors”, after a catastrophic misunderstanding between herself and a few parents.

5. Not much is known about Rosco, because he was rescued by an animal shelter as a puppy, but Riley renamed him to be “Oscar”, after Oscar Hertwig. However, the shelter volunteer misheard her, and engraved “Rosco” on his new name tag. She kept it only because she liked that the two now shared an initial.

Ehh I'm starting to obsess over Welcome home and I can't get this damn caterpillar dude out of my head.

Anyways I noticed that despite him being a humanoid caterpillar he has 8 limbs instead of 6 limbs.

Which means that he cannot be classified as a caterpillar but rather as an arachnid.

Anyways my headcanon is that he got adopted by caterpillars and never realized that he was an arachnid himself and now is just vibin as a caterpillar wannabe.

Or the better headcanon....

He was adopted by a caterpillar family but was too afraid to admit that he in reality was an arachnid because most people are scared off of spider, scorpions and other.

Poor frank when he finds out that all of the spying was for nothing....

Who got banned from playing monopoly from the puppets?

I feel Riley got banned from playing any game related to competition....

Well, we have already established Riley as being banned from monopoly Skskdjdjd So yeah, she’s banned from most competitive games, but she still joins (it would be rude to exclude her so the others mainly don’t bother with enforcing a ban). Riley is a bad loser and a bad winner

Scout is banned from playing *against* Riley in competitive games lol, it turns sour very quickly . But when they team up, it’s a war zone and they are sitting on their thrones having decimated everyone in their way

I feel like Mortimer would be excellent at card games, and while he mainly plays fair, he knows when and how to cheat

Both Nick and Daisy haven’t been banned from anything yet, but both have been close numerous times (Nick for egging on Riley, and Daisy for getting blackout angry but they can’t really fault her those moments tho since she usually has been triggered by something the others have said or done)

Random Unreality au headcanon #3 (or 4)

Scout and Mortimer both have ADHD and issues with anxiety (as I do myself, so this is indeed a self projection.)

Mortimers much better at masking it due to him having to keep it down under Owens "leadership" to avoid getting into more trouble than he already did.

Scout doesn't have to mask it or hide it

Mortimer is grateful that Scout doesn't have to deal with hiding everything about themselves just to appease others

Random OC Fact #1 IDK

I was bored so I might spew random facts about my hello puppets OCs for a while.

Sometimes Bella goes completely non-verbal. Usually when the trauma says hello because she's convinced she'll get hurt if she says the wrong thing [thanks Mortimer! /s] so she just refuses to verbally say anything. Usually when that happens she communicates via sign language or writing things down on a notepad.

Nick is the opposite of his sister. He talks more when he's having problems™️. And he already talks a lot. /aff [Mortimer literally degrades him for talking too much in canon. He also seems to start nervous-rambling when he's alone with him. Did I mention I hate Mortimer?]

I feel like if all the puppets (Excluding Rosco) had Twitter accounts, they would be hella chaotic on the platform. So here are some random headcanons I thought about.

Nick Nack

Secretly very active

Would own 2 accounts (One, his main and everyone knows and the other one is his secret account just to start or join in twitter drama)

He only posts art on his main but his drama account, its chaotic

He would go post something like "I hate ___" to a certain fandom or fan group and just watch it go on.

Nick would even start drama with the group too. (Which he starts drama with Riley a lot)

If anyone knows his secret account and asks why he has another one, he'd say "Just incase my main one gets hacked" or something like that

Riley Ruckus

Not that active on twitter but she only searches for people who are spreading lies and she debunks them (Which she also gets into drama for that)

She would often fight/argue with Nick unknowingly because it was his drama account

She might even make an account for the good boi

Daisy Danger

Rarely ever active

If so, she probably posts food pics or pastries that she made.

Daisy would rarely make rage posts (Mostly about Riley and Nick's arguments on there)

She would most often try to stop the fights but fails (Poor her : ( )

Mortimer Handee

Never really active on there (He never posts anything on there either)

would see the commotion about his friends' fights on there and sighs

Scout

Pretty active and wouldn't post stuff on there

Scout would probably repost cursed images or memes

Scout would really see the drama do down (Even the Handeemen drama)

Scout doesn't try to stop them. They just watch it do down
