Particularly Phoenix’s feelings towards towards him
My headcanon is the timeline goes a bit like this
Year 1: I don’t know how I got disbarred but Kris is the only one who believes in me so I like him, I’m gonna cling to them for support
Year 2: Ok Kris is looking kind of sus but I’m just gonna ignore that since Edgeworth still hasn’t had time to visit me. Sure there’s something else I’m missing
Year 3: Ok the signs are pointing to Kris but if I just zeno my thinking some other factors/excuses will materialize
Year 4: ok no all the signs are saying he did it out of spite but if I just huff enough copium the facts will change and the only person who’s been able to support me in person and not through time zone screwed phone calls and e-mails won’t be the one who ruined my life
Year 5: Ok so the facts haven’t changed and he’s an asshole but I’ll fix him like I fixed Edgeworth. He says he cares about me so it must be true (after all wanting something to be true really badly makes it true right?) I’ll fix him!
Year 6-7: ok being around him is very weird and I’m upset he disbarred me but I need to figure out what his tragic background is so I can fix him, then I can reform the court system and he can be like Edgeworth except he doesn’t leave me for Europe 😤

I genuinely think for a least a while Nick had to have some kind of fix it mindset with him
I mean Edgybaby was said to have forged evidence and Nick didn’t really care. I really think murder was the final nail in the coffin
Thoughts? Is this a valid timeline? I know some people like it where Nick realizes what happened immediately and just hated Kris internally all 7 years but to me that’s boring
I have even more complicated thought of Kris’ thoughts of Nick so look out
this is so real and also mostly how i see phoenix' s thoight process tbh!! especially the years of ignoring red flags only to then try and "fix him", he'll drag out the denial as long as possible. besides hes dealt w corrupt guys before, he was willing to give edgeworth for a lot, and its very possible he didnt know kristoph was capable of murder until turnabout trump.
and fuck how DEVASTATING must that be? to spend years knowing someone intimately and being willing to overlook all of the signs because the support and companionship they offer is more reliable and consistent than anything youve had before? only to end up feeling like you dont know them at all (might be working on a little drawing about that atm actually 👁👁 work is hell tho and slowing me down so much)

You once said that Doc's dog is his most important tool. How did Doc get his dog? Is there a special story behind their meeting? Or his naming of his dog?
So!!
It's late 1949 and Doc is still not only working through the aftermath of '45, but he's trying to once again find his footing in the world after having spent the last several years working on the bomb at Los Alamos.
Circa '46, he and a few other scientists are recruited to work on a classified project straight after the war's end and Doc, cautious but hopeful, accepts, desperately in need of money, a change of environment, and a new creative outlet.
The job, unfortunately, does not pan out, doing more harm than good to Doc overall. He gets fired. In the interim, he decides that he's better off trying to work on his own and sort things out. Doc starts the first iteration of what will eventually become E. Brown Enterprises, 24-hour scientific services (more or less a front by '85, but he has actually gotten the odd job throughout the years) and works freelance as a mechanic, repairman, and fledgling engineer. He makes house calls, repairs faulty equipment, and even improves on some already existing designs to make the lives of the people who call upon him just a little bit better.
It works, for a time, but Doc is incredibly lonely, still dealing with the pangs of guilt. He has always wanted a dog—his father didn't allow pets growing up because they were noisy and messy; a hassle, really—and what with his young acceptance to university and his job as a professor straight after graduation which eventually led to his being snapped up for the Manhattan Project, the window simply was never there to allow him to get a dog.
But as he's reading the paper one night, there are ads from the local shelter listing various dogs up for adoption and he decides, finally, that this could be good for him. So Doc goes down there and adopts his very first dog, a Norfolk Terrier that he's named Copernicus. Copernicus is energetic, friendly, and took an almost immediate liking to Doc. There was simply no better choice.
He's always been partial to the idea of adopting a dog; whenever he got the chance to, he always told himself that he'd go to a shelter and pick out one of the lonely, abandoned dogs that were in need of good, loving homes. That, coupled with the fact that it was much more cost-effective to adopt a dog considering in '49, his father's fortune had not yet come to him, so he had only the money he earned up until that point working at CalTech and on the Manhattan Project, made it the obvious choice.
Doc's first dog, Copernicus, was adopted out of a need for a very specific kind of companionship at that point in his life. He needed a friend, the unconditional love and affection that a dog would give without judgment, as well as someone that would keep him going and remind him that things got better. Copernicus was someone Doc could focus his attentions on in a positive way and who kept Doc on a schedule, reminding him that it was time to eat, to go for walks, to just get up and out and about.
Two lonely, down on their luck souls. Yeah, there's a little bit of poetry in their meeting.
It just so happened that his canine companion(s) would prove invaluable help with his scientific endeavours as well, aiding him in the lab.
Regarding Doc's naming conventions for his dogs, since science and the brilliant scientific minds of the past (and present) have been big inspirations/role-models for Doc, it made sense to him that he name his dear companions after such incredible figures in history. At the time, he chose Copernicus because not only was Copernicus a very, for his time, out of the box thinker, so to speak, challenging the accepted view of the cosmos with his heliocentric theory that so branded him a heretic, but it was for this theory, the planets revolving around the sun, that there's also a deeper layer of meaning to the name, as now that Doc had a dog to care for, his life would essentially revolve around his canine companion, making sure he was well and happy.
Sun and planets, anyone?
Anyway, that trend just continued with all the dogs he'd rescue over the years. Edison was next, named so for the light that he would bring to Doc's life. He was also the first dog adopted in the Hill Valley area, as Copernicus was still alive at the time of Doc's father's passing and his return to Hill Valley to move into the Brown mansion. Following Edison was Einstein, aptly named for his breed and his long white hair. Sheepdogs are incredibly intelligent, as was one of his greatest heroes, Einstein, and so the name was perfect.

fUCK I can't believe I forgot to include in my last meta or w/e the hell that was, but omg the part where Dream's like "you DARE suggest one such as -I- might need your compANIONSHIP" and Hob gives him that sort of pleading smile like would that be such a terrible thing? For us to need each other? For us to mutually want to be around each other? Why do you have to keep pretending otherwise? like I think he gets why Dream is so guarded, but at the same time he doesn't fully understand because Hob is the kind of person to give himself and his affections freely, no amount of time alive will stop him from wearing his heart on his sleeve, and he wants nothing more in this moment for Dream to see that it's not actually that scary or humiliating to admit we have feelings for each other. What's really sweet to me though is that Hob never for a second seems to believe what Dream is trying to tell him (I mean, if the tears in his eyes and SEETHING anger weren't evidence enough he's lying), that he actually thinks it's somehow ridiculous and beneath him to love Hob, because that's where the argument could have taken another turn entirely. It's like Hob knows what Dream feels for him and doesn't doubt it, he's just angry that Dream won't admit it, that he insists they keep up the pretense of a social study when whatever is between them has clearly become so much more.
And then EVEN AFTER the White Horse is closed and condemned, EVEN AFTER Dream doesn't show up for their 1989 date and Hob would have every reason to believe he's not coming back, HOB STILL PRESUMABLY BUYS A NEW PUB NEARBY AND LEAVES MESSAGES AT THE WHITE HORSE FOR THE NEXT 33 YEARS FOR HIS STRANGER ON THE OFF HAND CHANCE HE MIGHT RETURN.
Hob never gave up on him!! Even though he had every reason and justification to do so!! INSANE STUFF

“Fuckin!!!” He starts off strong but sniffles, scratchy throat hitching as he tramples through the hip-high grass, “Make my own damn cult, HURKULES!” It isn’t the first nor the last time that they’ll have a stupid, dumb, idiot, drag-out fight about absolute nonsense, but? As it always does in the heat of rushing, quaky adrenaline? This feels like the last.
Ready to pillage and plunder a lifelong companionship he wipes at the pollen sticking to the sides of his beet-red, sweating face. “This is the last, stupid, no-good freaking time,” His voice carries on and up the side of the mountain he is traversing on his way back to the trailer park.
The snarl of a nearby, wandering Angel barely phases him and, with ease, he plugs a fat, double barreled load right between their eyes. “S’posed ta’,” Hiking the shotgun up he rests it on his shoulder, booted foot kicking at the corpse to be sure it’s really dead, “Be all about chillin’, grillin’ and bonin’ fat bottomed babes and whoever else I feel like w i t h my brother from another mother, but NO!” He spells it out for emphasis, “Capital N, O. N, O, P, E for Charlemagne!”
It’s been a long time since he has let the world or anyone else get to him like this. Generally speaking he is as easy going as they come, but fights with Hurk always seemed to hit harder than the rest and this one is no exception.
Angrily he wipes at a salty tear daring enough to track down his cheek. “Hate you,” He repeats himself, volume increasing at the sight of another, half-rotten fence he’ll have to jump, “Hate, hate, HATE YOU HURKULES!”
The barbed wire over the top rail is rusted and without much thought he grabs his sweater from over his shoulder, drooping it over in a thick, semi-even fold. Hoisting himself up is easy but the ground is uneven below, deceptively-tall grass a thick cover and he manages to roll his ankle in boots. This adds to his haphazard afternoon and he curses long and loud in a string of expletives that would make his Grandmother proud.
Lost in his frustrations Sharky isn’t privy to the steadily encroaching danger he is in. “Ohh,” He’s focused on his favorite sweatshirt which is caught on the barbs, “What the fuck- f u c k i n g!” All at once he straightens, an authoritative, heavy huff of air commanding his attention. “What the fuck was that,” A country, back-water kind of boy he already knows what’s staring him down but he turns and? Comically slow, leveling his stare with an approaching bull.
“Oh, f-” For reasons unbeknownst to him he runs instead of hopping back over the fence. He and his shotgun part ways before he ever sees the other side of the pen, “Shit, shitshitshit!” Weeds and tall, sour grasses whip past him, one of them cutting his cheek. “Oh naw, come on mister bull!”
With little hope and no care for his palms and their wellbeing he flings himself over the opposing side of the pen. The bull, ever-so-smarter than Charlemagne, stops just-shy of the prickly barrier and lets out a low, long and guttural moo. Udderly Bovine Triumph™.
“Fuck,” An arm hangs, useless - the webbing between his thumb and pointer is hooked painfully, “The fuckin’ fuck outta you, man!” The animal stomps, chuffing angrily through it’s nostrils and Sharky jumps, causing himself a great deal of pain and discomfort, “Alright, alright! I’m sorry!!”
Three hours later and slightly more than one twenty four pack down the gullet finds him much worse for wear and hollering Blondie, “Once I had love!!” A three quarters empty bottle of Jameson dangles from his uninjured hand; he’s been saving this for a rough day since the Peggies moved in, “And it was a fuckin GAS!”
“Not sure that’s how it goes, Charlemagne.”
“Wha-” It takes a moment for him to focus around a blurring duplicate image of his relatively new friend, “Ah! Hah! Been wonderin’ where you been Dep!”
“See you’re having a… day, hm?”
Sharky snorts, agreement plain as day, “And it is turning into one hell of a night let me tell you- here!” He presses the bottle into the Deputy’s hands, “Join me- commiserate in my misery.”
“Honestly,” The bottle cap unscrews in acceptance, “Impressed you know what that word even means.”
“Hey, hey! Now I’ll have you know that,” He sways, a wide, happy grin on his face and an unlit joint between his fingers, “I got my damn degree, thank you very much.”
“Your G.E.D.?”
“Hell no!”
“…diploma?”
“Fuck that, no! Homie I am talking about a license to chill,” Without missing a beat he sparks up the hand rolled, “An absolute handle on life and the finer things within, Shorty!!”
Taking a beat amongst the flames and pumping disco music to make note, "Sharky-?" It is very strange to see him without it, "Where is your shirt?"
"My-?" In the heat of agitated excitement, "LOST MY FUCKIN SWEATER, MY FAVORITE GUN AND MY MC-FUCKIN COOL TODAY, DEP!"

Sasha, born ‘Kim Hanseul’, was born to a very modest family in Daegu, South Korea. His parents were not refined folk, but they were very hard workers and worked long hours to put food on the table for Sasha and his elder sisters. Sasha was the only boy born after three daughters, so there were high expectations for him to step up and take on the patriarchal role when he was older. Unfortunately for his parents, Sasha was not fitting the mold they had laid out for him. He showed zero interest in anything traditionally masculine, instead admiring his sisters and the lives they led, the clothes they wore, how pretty they looked when they were dolled up. It was difficult, but he pushed that side of himself down, for his family’s sake.
At school, he was neither popular nor unpopular. Though some of his male peers picked on him for how soft and ‘feminine’ he supposedly was, he got on just fine with his female classmates and had quite a few friends. He had average grades and no real interest in anything outside of fashion and makeup. Every day, after school, he would go to the convenience store to buy magazines with his pocket money and secretly peruse the magazines on his way home before feigning that he bought it for his older sisters.
Around the time he became of age, he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life. He was accepted into an average university, undecided on his major, and despaired on what to do with his life since nothing seemed to really suit him. He couldn’t bear to disappoint his parents by following his dreams. 
One day, when window-shopping in Gangnam on a weekend-trip to Seoul, he met the wealthy, older gentleman who would become his life’s saviour. Yoo Jun Seo was a lonely man, uncharismatic but amiable, and he was utterly captivated by Sasha’s beauty. At first, Sasha was flattered but uninterested in the man’s interest. But, Jun Seo wasn’t really trying to date him. The arrangement he offered was simple, in exchange for his companionship, Sasha would never have to worry about money a day in his life. Better yet, they would go to America, where he would not need to worry about embarrassing his family either. He could be fully himself.
And so, despite the warnings his friends gave him, he took the offer and lived alongside Jun-seo for six blissful years. Jun-seo was kind to him, treated him well, let him use his credit card whenever and on whatever he wanted. Sasha really could not be happier. That is, until he was traded for a ‘newer model’, told by the man he thought of as his boyfriend, his partner, that he was too old now. Too ‘used up’.
That was only a few days before arriving at Shrike, having nowhere to go and nobody to call until he remembered that an old friend from school had also moved to Shrike. His friend was nice enough to help him get on his feet, helping him find a roommate and a job at the local mall. 
W A N T E D  C O N N E C T I O N S
 ROOM-MATE: I picture Sasha’s roommate as being someone who is hard working and has probably grown up without any luxuries. So they’re very good at everything Sasha isn’t good at, budgeting, saving, etc. Sasha is very spoiled and out of touch with reality so I can see this as being an enemies to friends/whatever kind of dynamic. 
FRIENDS: because you can never have too many of them.
NEIGHBOURS: I picture Sasha living in a cheap apartment complex.

I have never considered Grif/Bitters before but my eyes are open and they are open w i d e
Any particular headcanons for them?
ngl, i started shipping grif/bitters as a very miserable ship, cuz realistically they're both repressed and unhealthy individuals dealing with their own angst when they know each other, so i was capitalizing on that and making them drown together, but i gave it some thought cuz i didn't wanna just hand you a bunch of angst out of nowhere and i'm now equally a fan of healthy and fluffy grif/bitters, so ty for that HDHDBV welcome to our ship, it's just you and me in a little rowboat together
i kind of see them both as cats, very "leave me the fuck alone unless i approach you in which case give me attention exactly how i want until i decide to up and fuck off again". they're both also somehow the most and least chill people on the planet, they both care a lot but would rather die than have anyone know they care, so their relationship starts as sort of this dance they do around each other where they're constantly testing the waters, figuring out how much they can get away with saying while trying to not let the other in on the fact that they are human and have human thoughts and emotions. this dance culminates in the mutual understanding that they can be "uncool" around each other and neither of them will call the other out. there is the mutual understanding that their lives suck and they both feel like they're drowning but at least they have each other and understand each other, and when they walk out from behind closed doors they'll keep each others' secret. their relationship, to me, is about companionship and making the best of a bad situation and...maybe not growing as people by leaps and bounds, but trying to stay afloat so the other has something to hang onto.
so, in no particular order, some gritters headcanons:
-they don't actively sit down and cuddle as much, but they're big fans of casually getting in each others' space. putting their feet on each others' lap, leaning over each other to reach things, shoving past each other as opposed to simply adjusting wherever they're walking, smacking each others' ass as they pass by
-when they do cuddle, it's usually because one of them walked up to the other and plopped themselves down directly in their space without asking, and the other may bitch and act annoyed but if anyone could see how tight they hold each other they wouldn't fool anyone
-they readily share snacks, even though they pretend to be annoyed about it. grif is pretty horrified how snackless bitters' life has been up until now. grif has both the know-how and the influence around base to get or trade for as many snacks as his heart desires, and sharing food is a love language for both of them, so they share snacks and eat meals together a lot. they also both steal off each others' tray in the mess hall and half the time they're chill about it, the other half they start fighting LMAO
-they like to smoke together, although grif doesn't like that bitters smokes because bitters is fucking up his health at such a young age, but anytime he speaks up about it bitters just blows smoke in his face and says something along the lines of "it's not like i'll live long enough to see the consequences". grif obviously doesn't like that but doesn't push it too hard because he understands the fatalistic outlook and knows if he challenges bitters on it bitters will just get up and leave. grif doesn't necessarily mentor bitters, but he does know he's got a few things to teach him and if he doesn't pick and choose his battles he'll never get anywhere with bitters
-speaking of smoking, bitters does have a tenuous pot hookup and he starts sharing his stash with grif. they hole up in grif's room (grif shares with simmons but they kick him out for the night unless simmons agrees to smoke with them, which he rarely does) (side headcanon, they can't use bitters' room because bitters rooms with matthews and matthews has copd from a chemical bombing by the feds and the smoke that lingers fucks with him). grif and bitters do shotgun hits OBVIOUSLY as every good ship does. they're both too depressed to have much of a sex drive, but half the time they smoke together they end up at third base
-NAPS NAPS NAPS they love to nap together anywhere anytime. they've turned napping into a sport, one of their collective activities is hunting down and sharing places to sneak away from everyone and get some sleep. they share all their favorite storage closet locations and together they can reach new heights, such as the rafters of the training compound or that attic space in the armory both of them have been eyeing but neither of them can quite reach alone
-bitters has a crappy old ipod he has really dated rock music on and he and grif each put one earbud in and listen because it's something to do. they talk about music together and bitters tells grif about how if he somehow survives the war, the one thing he wants is an electric guitar, it's the only thing he ever dares to hope for (and then makes a joke about grif being his groupie which gets him a smack upside the head) (grif: "no way, there isn't a single universe out there in which i'd be your fucking groupie, you'd be mine" bitters: "you can't really have a groupie if you don't play, that's not how it works" grif: "trust me, i'm gonna invent a new kind of groupie just so i don't have to be yours" and then this ends in grif promising he'll take bitters to a concert one day, but bitters is doubtful because he doesn't believe in "one day"s)
-bitters can play acoustic guitar and has one in his room, he only plays for matthews really but occasionally plays for grif (and the other lieutenants as time goes on). matthews has a ukulele he keeps trying to teach grif to play but grif is always too distracted watching bitters' fingers work the strings of his guitar to really pick it up
-the first time grif realizes he likes bitters more than he thought is the first time he makes bitters laugh. up until then, he hadn't ever heard anyone make bitters laugh, he was half-convinced bitters wasn't capable of laughing. grif doesn't even remember what he said, some dumb pun or remark, but bitters hadn't been expecting to find it funny so when he laughs he doesn't have time to tone it down or bite it back, he laughs genuinely. when grif sees bitters face light up and get 5 years younger, the way his eyes close and his eyebrows raise, when he hears that bitters snorts when he laughs??? forget it, he's gone, he's so fucked, he can't stop blushing and staring, it's over for him
-the first time bitters realizes he like grif more than he thought he did is the first time bitters sees grif give a fuck. the first time he runs into grif up late at night stress snacking in the mess hall (bitters went there to do the same thing), when grif tries to hide what's bothering him but it hits bitters like a semi truck, holy shit grif is stressing. not about his missing friends this time, about the new republic. about kimball, about matthews, about bitters. it's the push bitters needs to commit to liking grif, seeing concrete proof that grif is capable of giving a fuck despite all his pretending that he doesn't

Okay, so I did initially get the idea of BATB for IDW MegOP from coefore, but when I started thinking about it on my own (and with help from the MegOP discord server), I started forming some extra ideas and now it's just kind of a big thing that I may or may not turn into a future fic for real.
So this BATB AU is inspired by IDW1 specifically, with Megatron as Belle, Terminus as Belle's father, Optimus as the Beast, and either Tarn or Overlord as Gaston. Also with the outlier squad (plus maybe some other side charscters) as the servants-turned-household-items. Oh and they're mechs in this AU, not humanformers.
Megatron and Terminus are pretty self explanatory. Like Belle, Megatron is from a less privileged background and an environment where his passion for intellectualism and literature makes him not fit in; meanwhile, Terminus is Megatron's father figure in all but name.
Meanwhile OP is the Beast because in general content of OP being beastly is hard to find haha and I think he's just more interesting that way. Him coming from a privileged class in IDW1 canon translates well to him being a noble in a BATB. But I don't think he would have been cruel to his servants and turned into a beast because of that. Since I'm taking elements from IDW1, I like to imagine that Optimus was actually kind to his servants and still ended up doing some sort of canon-style storming of the Senate, except this time he was severely punished for stepping out of line and turned into a beastformer. Because what better way to punish Optimus (or Orion I guess?) for sympathizing with the oppressed class than by turning him into one? I don't think it would be a magical thing, but maybe some specific asshole like Proteus or even Zeta giving the order for OP to be forcibly reformatted. (More lore on that will be shown if/when I actually write this as a fic.)
I'm still uncertain on certain elements of OP's design, but basically he has an anthro root mode and a beast alt mode, so that no matter what it's obvious he's part animal. Anyways, I guess maybe OP can't leave his mansion or w/e because he's been exiled there away from Iacon (they can't kill him because I guess there's some feudal type law that you can't kill the noble-born or something).
So him and Megatron meet and it's a nice companionship (rocky start aside) because Megatron gets someone who respects his passions and who he is as a person, while Optimus gets someone to tell him that him being a beast doesn't make him any less of a person, and he can still do good for Cybertron if he stops being ashamed and embraces this form.
Anyways that's about all for the general idea. I wasn't thinking of making this a hugely sprawling AU or anything, more just "BATB adapted to IDW1" and maybe ending it with "and they lived happily ever after as activists on Cybertron" or something. :D

The trash of society
“Disposability” is a framework that interrogates the way human lives are valued. Arising from observations about material disposability in the rapid industrialization of post-’45 and the increasing hold of mass-production and consumerism, “disposability” eventually expanded to an investigation of the human cost of this modern landscape. Theorists raised the question of how the disposability of human lives could be understood in tandem with the disposability of material goods, linking together issues of class, poverty, migration, imperialism, race, production, and consumerism. In essence, disposability as a framework investigates how human lives come to be rendered as disposable—and thus, like waste, byproducts of a lifestyle of endless growth.
This concern is one that receives frequent exploration in fiction that delves into the framework of humans-as-waste; for example, the sci fi dystopian short story Folding Beijing follows a waste worker in his efforts to fund the education of his adoptive daughter, who he found abandoned outside his waste-processing station. Although the conditions in BNHA aren’t nearly as grim, there are nevertheless clear connections drawn between its villainous characters and the concept of humans-as-waste, to the point where villains refer to themselves or are referred to by others as “trash.” Quirks may have effected a massive social upheaval, but that didn’t do away with, only shifted, the specifics of the idea that there are people who are deserving and people who are not, innocent people and criminals.

Throughout the series, we see characters mistreated while a society of deserving innocents looks on. There was little concern from the public when Izuku was mocked and bullied for his Quirklessness, when Rei was sold into a marriage for the benefit of a wealthy and abusive pro hero, when five-year-old Tenko wandered the streets alone, and when Jin was left to fend for himself as a teenager. Under the framework of disposability, they might as well have been rendered “waste,” as Zygmunt Bauman writes: “[t]he story we grow in and with has no interest in waste[...],” instead
“[w]e dispose of leftovers in the most radical and effective way: we make them invisible by not looking and unthinkable by not thinking. They worry us only when the routine elementary defences are broken and the precautions fail—when the comfortable, soporific insularity of our Lebenswelt which they were supposed to protect is in danger.” [source]
It is, interestingly, a bigger-picture version of the charges Shigaraki Tomura directs against the world of BNHA: like Bauman says, the innocent civilians are oblivious, recognizing neither the fragility of their peace nor the artificiality of it as it is maintained by heroes, unwilling to acknowledge the "leftovers”—the people who weren’t saved—until they return as villains and that very peace is threatened.

As for the leftovers themselves, they feel their alienation acutely. According to Bauman, to be “redundant” in a productivity-driven economy is to “share semantic space with ‘rejects’, wastrels’, ‘garbage’, ‘refuse’—with waste.” He outlines the conditions of redundancy thusly, describing it as a kind of “social homelessness”:
“To be redundant means[... t]he others do not need you; they can do as well, and better, without you. There is no self-evident reason for your being around and no obvious justification for your claim to the right to stay around. To be redundant means to have been disposed of because of being disposable[...]”
The experience of this kind of disposability is evident in BNHA, as class and exploitation seem to be highly correlated with social isolation. The members of the Shie Hassaikai were used and abandoned, and bonded strongly to one another after joining Overhaul. Jin’s experience of “social homelessness” shows him walking alone through empty city streets, before he ends up talking to his own clone below an overpass. Jin, too, finds companionship in joining a group, the League of Villains, but fears of disposability and further isolation plague his thoughts. Whether or not he genuinely believes League of Villains would abandon him, Jin feels the need to continue justifying his place among them. The societal bleeds into the personal; Jin’s disposability to society, best represented by his interactions with law enforcement and with his employer, also becomes an anxiety in his interpersonal relationships. Horikoshi’s decision to characterize Jin in such a way makes it impossible to ignore the larger issues that created him; namely, class issues that reflect real-world concerns.

As Jin sits below the overpass, talking to his clone, he asks whether he went wrong somewhere. The other Jin responds that it must have been “being born without an ounce of luck.” Bauman comments on unluckiness thusly:
“In Samuel Butler’s Erewhon it was ‘ill luck of any kind, or even ill treatment at the hands of others’ that was ‘considered an offence against society, inasmuch as it [made] people uncomfortable to hear of it.’ ‘Loss of fortune, therefore’ was ‘punished hardly less severely than physical delinquency’.” [source]
These observations are perfectly applicable to the characters we’ve met. It’s often the “unlucky” who get treated the worst: Izuku was bullied relentlessly for his “unlucky” Quirklessness, and Rei wound up trading her “unlucky” marriage for an institutionalization of ten years. Jin was fired from his job after an “unlucky” accident, fell into a life of crime, and is finally killed by the same hero who offered him a second chance. When Dabi probes Tokoyami Fumikage in an attempt to make him contend with Jin’s “ill treatment” at Hawks’ hands, Tokoyami dismisses it and justifies Jin’s execution, undoubtedly because it would be uncomfortable, possibly even world-shattering, to acknowledge Dabi’s charge. The fact that these people have been unlucky, or have even been actively mistreated or failed by others, turns the public’s gaze away in an attempt to escape the discomfort elicited by these embodiments of society’s waste. For the “redundant” to remind society of its human cost—or even to remind the non-redundant of the small gap of bad luck that separates them—they become objects of revulsion, to be forgotten or discarded as quickly as possible. Rendered “invisible” and “unthinkable” as leftovers, they become “ontologically non-existent.” [source]
Some of the anxiety towards the “redundant” is precisely because the framework of “becoming waste” is permeable. This permeability accounts for the possibility of transforming from citizen to disposable human; perhaps, then, when “all it takes is one bad day,” the line which separates citizen from villain is just as permeable. In the framework of hero society, it may be argued that villains are not simply redundant waste, but the trash whose alienation hero society relies on in a highly visible way. "The disposable, the waste as objects and humans, inhabit a place of exclusion from society which provides not only an unrecognized space of reinforcement for society itself, but also the fuel and the labor for maintaining the status quo.” [source] In BNHA’s terms, not only are villains excluded from a deserving, innocent society, they are also the fuel for maintaining it by embodying its opposite—the guilty and undeserving—their exclusion constantly reinforced through the public spectacle of their arrests and the public idolization of heroes. Villains are no longer simply inert leftovers that can be easily ignored, as Bauman described; villains have broken past hero society’s elementary defenses, and threaten the Lebenswelt of deserving innocents. While their visibility transforms villains back into an acknowledgeable existence, the very act of breaching their invisibility renders them a kind of waste that must be permanently disposed of.
A livable life?
Heroes do not kill. This is stated in 251 by the death-seeking Ending, who, despite his best efforts, is spared an unceremonious execution at the hands of a hero, who the readers know is a domestic abuser. The deathless resolution to Ending’s conflict, then, further compounds the horror of chapter 266, when Jin is eliminated with extreme prejudice by Hawks, who admires the aforementioned hero. The irony is shocking and bitter as readers witness the violation of one of heroism’s fundamental tenets, broken no less for the elimination of one of the series’ most sympathetic villains, after Hawks himself concedes that Jin is “a good person.” It may be said that heroes do not have carte blanche to kill, but neither is it an inviolable principle, and of course a no-kill mandate says nothing about the ways villains have been injured or tortured at the hands of heroes. While arguments can be made about the imminent risk of certain occasions, the issue remains that it’s often the most vulnerable people who pay the highest price for maintaining a nebulous definition of societal “safety” (a “safety” which always seemed to exclude certain people), a concept that is primarily defined by the state and the policing class. Furthermore, the willingness of a hero to kill in defense of hero society begs the question: who may be killed without consequence, and under what circumstances?
In her collection of essays addressing responses to terrorism, Precarious Life, Judith Butler writes:
“Certain lives will be highly protected, and the abrogation of their claims to sanctity will be sufficient to mobilize the forces of war. Other lives will not find such fast and furious support and will not even qualify as "grievable."”
The notion of a “safe” society hinges on the protection of those sanctified lives, at the expense of vulnerable lives deemed “disposable” through poverty, homelessness, or criminality. A threat against the deserving innocents or the murder of a hero unites every other hero and every citizen in public mourning, and then in opposition against murderous villains—there is no such mobilization for the suffering of Quirkless kids, abused women, or orphaned, destitute teenagers. The threats against their well-beings are considered part-and-parcel to their world—normal, unavoidable, and indeed not violence at all. Certainly, a murdered villain will not find such unanimous grief nor anger mobilized in the wake his death, not even directed toward changing the isolated, impoverished conditions which made villainy an appealing choice in the first place. Jin’s death is privately witnessed and privately mourned, only by those who comprised his ibasho. It’s through these uneven displays of grief that Butler questions: “what counts as a livable life and a grievable death?”
Butler argues that certain lives are removed from the bounds of “normative” humanity, and thus “grievability.” Violence against vulnerable lives is dismissed or legitimized by the state through their dehumanization: in the world of BNHA, villains are “presented [...] as so many faces of evil” and treated as mere vessels of a killing instinct.
“Are they pure killing machines? If they are pure killing machines, then they are not humans [...]. They are something less than human, and yet somehow they assume a human form. They represent, as it were, an equivocation of the human, which forms the basis for some of the skepticism about the applicability of legal entitlements and protections.”
This kind of dehumanization is, of course, explained through the claim that certain people are “dangerous,” a designation which (as Butler points out) is determined by none other than the state itself.
“A certain level of dangerousness takes a human outside the bounds of law[... T]he state posits what is dangerous, and in so positing it, establishes the conditions for its own preemption and usurpation of the law[...]”
Perhaps, then, if villains are something other-than-human, something so dedicated to violence that they can be stopped only through death, no "sanctity,” and no law, is violated if they are killed.
The ability of the state to designate certain people as “dangerous” is linked to another political strategy: defining the difference between “legitimate” and “illegitimate” violence. Butler explains:
“The use of the term, "terrorism," thus works to delegitimate certain forms of violence committed by non-state-centered political entities at the same time that it sanctions a violent response by established states. [...] In this sense, the framework for conceptualizing global violence is such that "terrorism" becomes the name to describe the violence of the illegitimate, whereas legal war becomes the prerogative of those who can assume international recognition as legitimate states.” [source]
In the world of BNHA, clearly such a discernment exists between “legitimate” and “illegitimate” violence. Although certain readers have been quick to draw the “terrorism” analogy, the series itself tends to differentiate between “legitimate” and “illegitimate” violence not through charges of terrorism, but through the designation of “hero” and “villain.” Legitimate violence is wielded by heroes in defense of the state, in defense of property, and against villains, whereas illegitimate violence is wielded by villains against the state, against property, and against heroes. This difference between “hero” and “villain” is, in actuality, insubstantial as far as the question of morality, as even labeled villains such as Gentle Criminal behave within a palatable frame of ethics, while some career heroes are just as capable as villains of taking and ruining lives; nevertheless, the state has a vested interest in strongly promoting the idea of this divide—of legitimate, heroic violence as moral, justified, and legal, and illegitimate, villainous violence as immoral, unjustified, and unlawful. In this way, the state can engage in “legal war” with very little questioning or dissent from its populace, and it further delegitimizes the violence of its opponents. The violence of heroes is justified, and therefore they have an understandable human rationale; on the contrary, the violence of villains is unjustified, it is attributed to their innate violence, which is incomprehensible and inhuman.

“The fact that these prisoners are seen as pure vessels of violence [...] suggests that they do not become violent for the same kinds of reason that other politicized beings do, that their violence is somehow constitutive, groundless, and infinite, if not innate. If this violence is terrorism rather than violence, it is conceived as an action with no political goal, or cannot be read politically. It emerges, as they say, from fanatics, extremists, who do not espouse a point of view, but rather exist outside of "reason," and do not have a part in the human community.” [source]
No one personifies this better than Tomura himself. He is named the “Symbol of Terror” by AFO, and is undoubtedly viewed as such by the heroes and civilians of BNHA. It has been repeatedly emphasized that to everyone but the League of Villains, Tomura is not so much a human as he is the embodiment of thoughtless destruction. Tomura is referred to as a monster, as someone unshackled to humanity, as an “it,” as something that cannot be reasoned with. This is an idea that Horikoshi himself seems to play into somewhat, because although Tomura voices certain critiques of the hero system, he nevertheless seems to remain rather apolitical in who or what he decides to target. It’s Jin, then, who lends a political voice to the villains by criticizing pro heroes from his very first narrated chapter, but even a clear articulation of his grievances gets him no understanding reaction from the hero in front of whom he raises these charges.

While the fictional heroes may see villains as nothing more than vessels of violence, it can be argued that Horikoshi himself went through an extensive effort to depict the rationale and humanity of the villains. As I’ve stated before, Jin is very clearly connected to the real-world struggles of certain Japanese citizens, making him real and relatable in ways other characters may not be. At the same time, the rationale and humanity that Horikoshi recognizes are things that heroes like Hawks can’t grasp: as someone who idolized a hero as a child, and who was, for better or worse, enveloped by the hero system, he does not question the legitimacy of the hero system. Hawks understands only unluckiness in Jin’s circumstances, and shows little awareness of the fact that Jin was failed by the very society Hawks defends, that his suffering was both enforced by the legal system and by his boss, and ignored by institutions supposedly designed to help. Jin, of course, is not so obtuse—he reiterates his awareness that he is one of those disposable, ungrievable lives that heroes don’t save, and he is ultimately proven right—when Hawks’ offer of rehabilitation is rejected, he instead moves to kill. Jin, and other villains, are so thoroughly dehumanized, likened to killing machines, that it doesn’t occur to any hero that they can possibly be reasoned with. 
Could there have been any other conclusion? I don’t believe so—not without a significant shift in thinking from heroes. For many of the villains, there’s very little to gain from rejoining the society that they were ejected from. Bauman writes that, for “disposable” humans:
“Unwelcome, tolerated at best, cast firmly on the receiving side of socially recommended or tolerated action, treated in the best of cases as an object of benevolence, charity and pity (challenged, to rub salt into the wound, as undeserved), but not of brotherly help, charged with indolence and suspected of iniquitous intentions and criminal intentions, [they have] few reasons to treat ‘society’ as a home to which one owes loyalty and concern.”
It should come as no surprise, then, that Jin rejects Hawks’ offer of a “socially tolerated” rehabilitation into the society that both caused and ignored his suffering, which he has no reason to believe wouldn’t outcast him again for another slip-up. Of course, he instead chose the place he was understood, where his mistakes were met with patience, where he wasn’t forced to justify his presence, where his sense of belonging felt stable. The people he called his ibasho were a home, a place he was allowed an ontological existence—the very inverse of that old, disposable life.
Conclusion
Bubaigawara Jin should be read as class commentary. The various obstacles in his story are all too reflective of the systemic issues of real-world Japan, concisely highlighting the shortcomings and common abuses of the alternative care system, the justice system, and the workplace. It’s also highly likely that Horikoshi himself is aware of economic inequalities on some level, which seems to reflect in the obvious and less-obvious ways he addresses class in BNHA. I think this probable intentionality is important, as it can lend itself to our speculation on the series’ messages and themes. Importantly, if Jin’s story is a commentary about the real-world trials of economic marginalization, then surely this also applies to the way he is treated by heroes and by wider society. Beyond simple evaluations of “X did this, which forced Y to respond,” certain narrative choices may be better understood as a pattern of illustrating disposability, of the way this fictional society creates “human waste,” and to relate them to real-world patterns of which lives are considered worth saving.
I somewhat downplayed the real-world inspirations for Bauman and Butler’s texts, because I believe those are true and serious topics about capitalism and war that should be discussed on their own merits, unrelated to a fictional series; however, they also perfectly show how certain beliefs in the real world are transferrable to BNHA’s world. Because these beliefs are transferrable, readers’ reactions to certain narratives in fiction are rooted in certain truths we believe about the real world as well. For example, it would pointless to call the League of Villains “terrorists” as a condemnation, unless someone believes that the charge of “terrorism” in itself tells us anything meaningful about morality. As Butler has explained, and as real life shows (e.g. through the designation of black radical groups like the Black Panthers or antifascist groups as terrorist organizations), the term “terrorism” alone holds no inherent moral implication. Imagining that the label of “terrorist” can meaningfully convey anything about morality, and that "being a terrorist” removes a person from the boundaries of “normative humanity” (and thus due legal process in-universe, and reader sympathy out-of-universe) reflects an ignorance about certain real-world political processes.
Injustice in the world doesn’t only take the form of obvious oppression and violence; manipulation is also involved. There is a vested interest by the ruling class in guiding the ways people think and perceive reality, teaching us what we deserve and don’t deserve, what prices are acceptable and unacceptable to pay for human life. These lessons must be rejected from the outset, leaving rules and definitions open for interpretation. What qualifies as violence? Is violence more than a physical act of harm? Is it violence to isolate “unproductive” members of society? Is it violence to deny them food and shelter? Is it then violence to cage and execute them when they do not non-violently accept their subjugation? What forms of violence are unacceptable and why? Where does violence really begin?
Dismantling oppression can only be achieved by questioning its very foundations and the language used to justify it; fiction, by enveloping us into a new reality—a new world with new rules—should make this questioning easier if we’re willing to divest ourselves of certain beliefs fed to us by those in power. BNHA, as imperfect as it is, certainly tries to raise some of these questions about the designations of “heroes” and “villains,” about the deserving and undeserving, about who is saved and who gets left behind. I would go further, and argue that to invest legitimacy into the hero system is to invest legitimacy into everything that perpetuates it: the poverty, the violence, the disposability of those judged “villainous,” and the idea that agents of the state are uniquely positioned to enact legitimate violence. Confronting crime means eliminating the need for it and the conditions that give rise to it, and only then, not a moment before, will the problem of villains largely cease to exist.

Another thing I wanted to add to this thought about the Lokius lover's quarrel- it's interesting that when Loki is actually being amorous towards Sylvie and entertaining ideas of them being together or w/e, he does not seem to have any hang ups or reservations about the 'weirdness' of that, he doesn't seem to second guess the concept at all, the moment feelings start forming he embraces them (which is...worringly OOC as I've said before but that's not the point here) so much so that it almost comes across as Loki being cloying and Sylvie trying to politely push him away.
So then...why...does he avoid admitting this to Mobius during their argument? I could understand the interpretation that to a point they're both lying to and playing against each other out of hurt/anger and Loki is also trying to protect Sylvie by not letting Mobius know how much he does care about her, but eventually Mobius catches on anyway and Loki had to have known he would. And yet, he still insists that's not what's going on. For whose sake?
Even when admitting that's what's going on might in fact win him back some of Mobius' trust long enough to maybe convince him he is telling the truth about the TVA. And if they really have formed just a strong het friendship, why wouldn't he?
Also significant that Loki looks...especially heartbroken and conflicted when Mobius is excoriating him for the weirdness of this. He didn't seem to care about said weirdness before, like at all, and now all of a sudden he's riddled with guilt and confusion over it?? miss mam what???
and then the fact that the both of them only become mutually 'comfortable' with the situation when Mobius admits maybe their connection could bring down the TVA as a whole. for whatever he might have come to feel for Loki, I'm sure he's thinking it cannot possibly compare to a connection so strong it makes a chaotic branch in an apocalypse so...it's not important. Loki doesn't deserve to be alone, and if this is the companionship that is meant for him Mobius loves him too much to keep standing in the way of it. He stops lashing out, but I doubt he stops feeling hurt.
so that's Mobius' POV, but from Loki's...I can see how it would be easier to favor feelings for someone that is essentially oneself, there's no second-guessing in that situation about whether one deserves that affection because it's the devil you know, right? also idk that Loki realizes why Mobius was upset really- he just knows that Mobius was disgusted by him and that was heartbreak enough- Mobius, the guy that has seen every horrible thing, every wicked deed Loki has committed, knows him better than anyone else and has always eschewed the common reaction to Loki's behaviors. Mobius has accepted and loved him regardless. Mobius has always seen beyond all that and Loki has come to trust him immensely because of it.
Until the thing with Sylvie happens and suddenly Mobius is no longer unconditionally accepting of everything Loki chooses to do- I'm sure if Loki was at all entertaining fantasies of what the both of them could be together this moment kind of seals his insecurities against any possibility of it actually happening. (because he doesn't realize mobius wasn't actually disgusted with him he was jealous bc he's in love with YOU YOU FUCKIN DOPE)

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?
Peter is very affectionate, at least in his mind. In reality, he’s always worried that he’ll make things awkward, especially at the beginning of your relationship. Are you comfortable with a hug right now? Is a kiss too much PDA? But once you’ve been dating for a while, he gets a lot more comfortable and then it’s hugs and cute little wrestling fights all the time. 
B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)
He’s the best best friend. Y’all probably met at school (most likely in Academic Decathlon) and you became friends really quickly. You guys are the best friends that do EVERYTHING together. 
C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)
Peter LOVES to cuddle. Especially after the snap (I honestly can’t even refer to it as the ‘blip’), he’s terrified of losing you because he saw how quickly it can happen. 
D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)
Peter really wants to settle down with you but not at the expense of being Spiderman. He wants a life with you and maybe even some kids but he would still be the friendly neighborhood Spiderman while he did it
He’s a teenage boy so, of course, there’s dirty clothes everywhere. He’s good at doing the dishes and getting chores done though. When he’s been out all night protecting the city though, he does sometimes forget every now and then. 
E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
Breaking up with you would absolutely destroy Peter. It has nothing to do with his feelings for you. The boy is still madly in love with you but that’s why he needs to let you go. He feels like you’re in danger when you’re with him and he wouldn’t be able to live with himself if something happened to you. 
He would try so hard to stay strong and explain everything and make sure that you knew that you didn’t do anything wrong and just keep telling you how perfect you are but this boy would definitely start crying. 
F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)
Peter, at the moment, is content with being in a very happily committed relationship with you. He’s not in a huge rush to get engaged but he definitely wants to in the future. He’d propose to you when you’re around 24 or 25 and it would be simple and cute! 
G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
Peter is SUPER careful with you. Because of his super strength, he’s constantly horrified of hurting you by accident. Emotionally, Peter isn’t too aggressive anyways and that really translates into your relationship. He’s snapped at you a few times when he’s super stressed from school or with Avengers stuff but he always is very apologetic about it. 
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)
Peter loves hugs. He would hug you all the time if he could. He hugs you whenever he sees you. He wraps you in his arms and squeezes you super tight but it’s a comforting tight, not a Lord-help-me-I-can’t-breathe tight.
Going back to the cuddling, he loves to hug you because it means that you’re real and tangible and there with him. He savors every moment because he’s scared to lose you. 
I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)
He’s very cautious with the L-word. He’s lost so many people that he loves from his parents to Uncle Ben to Stark. Even when he starts to feel it, he doesn’t even admit it to himself because then that’s something that he can lose. 
Somewhere around the five or six month mark though it slips out before either of you even know what happened but you’re quick to return the sentiment
J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)
Peter doesn’t get jealous so much as he does insecure. You’ve reassured him dozens of times that you don’t want to be with anyone other than him but that doesn’t stop him from wondering if you’d rather be Brad every now and then. 
You and Peter have a very trusting relationship. You both accept the fact that you both have friends in the gender that you’re attracted to but that you shouldn’t be in a relationship if you can’t trust each other. It’s never really been an issue for your relationship. 
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)
Peter loves to kiss you on the top of the head. That’s his trademark for you. Whenever he sees you after school, it’s a big hug where he kind of engulfs your body in his arms and you bury your face in his chest and he kisses the top of your head. 
(But he’ll kiss you anywhere and everywhere when he can) 
He loves when you kiss his chest but he’ll never really admit it cause he feels a little weird about it but it drives him wild. 
L = Little ones (How are they around children?)
He’s great with kids because he’s such a little goof himself. They wanna play with Legos? GREAT! Cause Peter’s an expert Lego builder. They wanna do his hair? Well it’s their lucky day cause Peter is more than willing to walk the runway with bows in his hair. 
As for his own, he knows he wants them one day but he doesn’t know exactly when. He doesn’t want to put them in any danger and that’s what’s holding him back the most but he would love to see some mini-yous running around one day. 
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)
Mornings are cuddly in the Parker residence! There is a solid twenty minutes of cuddling and talking before you guys get out of bed in the morning so be sure to set your alarm clock a little earlier than needed. 
N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)
There are two kinds of nights
#1: Nerdy Nights: Y’all are up all night bingeing Star Wars or playing games or studying for finals. There’s usually a lot of take-out involved. 
#2: Worrisome Nights: Peter is out saving the world as usual leaving you home terrified that maybe that was the last night you’d have with him. 
O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
Depends on what it is. Peter doesn’t reveal to you that he’s Spiderman for about five months into your relationship. It’s not that he doesn’t trust you, he just thought it would put you in danger. 
Other things, like Stark’s death, he’s a mess. He pours his heart out to you when it happens and just needs you to hold him and hug him. 
P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)
Peter is very patient. He doesn’t really get easily angered at all (I mean it literally took everything up to End Game for the boy to activate Instant Kill). Even when you fight, there’s never yelling or threats. He may snap every now and then but that’s very far and few between. 
Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
Peter remembers everything! He’ll remember that one time that you mentioned that you loved Tiger Lillies three months ago and bring you one on your birthday. Even when he’s super stressed, he remembers your anniversary and makes sure to make you one of those cute little memory boxes. 
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
There was one time when he swung you both up to the top of the Brooklyn Bridge (much to your dismay at first because, afraid of heights or not, that’s still scary) and you watched the sun set over the city. It was simple and beautiful and the way you looked with the golden light shining on your face is a sight Peter will never forget. 
S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)
Peter is very protective of you but not in a jealous boyfriend way. Due to his line of work, there’s always the possibility of actual danger. He’s not stalkerish or obssessive but he gets worried if he hasn’t heard from you in a while or if you’ve gone too long without returning his calls because he can’t keep his mind from wandering to all the horrible things that may have happened. 
He doesn’t need to be protected too much physically but you’re his emotional support. You protect him by talking him out of dumb ideas or allowing him to talk to you about the things he goes through to protect his mental state. 
T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
He puts a lot of effort into everything. Peter’s an overthinker so he wants everything to be perfect for you. All of your dates are well thought out. There’s a gift for every holiday, anniversary, and birthday (even if it’s a simple I love you note). He just feels like he needs you to understand how much he loves you. 
V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)
Peter’s not too concerned with his looks. He doesn’t want to look like a slob by any means but he’s not going out with perfectly slicked back hair and a 3 piece suit every time he leaves the house. 
W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)
Most definitely. He was feeling in need of some romantic companionship for a while before you guys started dating but after you became official, he couldn’t imagine life without you. He felt like he needed you and without you, he didn’t feel whole. 
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)
Peter has a bad habit of just sort of flopping face first on the mattress and falling asleep there in his Spidersuit, only the mask removed. His hair will be all over the place and he’ll still be sweaty and occasionally scratched up but that doesn’t matter. That’s an issue for tomorrow.

Four Discoveries And A Weapon
Fandom: Teen Wolf
Ship: Non-explicit Scisaac
Summary: The pack discovers things about Isaac, but Isaac discovers things about them too. (AKA four Isaac discoveries, and one time they’re used against him.)
Notes: I accidentally wrote a really long fic and couldn’t think of an adequate title but here’s this. I ended up loving teen wolf so much that I immediately started rewatching it once I finished, so prepare for some teen wolf fics

Isaac is cute. He would never admit it, but he is. Don’t get me wrong, he’s hot too- but mostly cute, in a puppy kind of way.
He despised being complimented in general, but he always got especially uncomfortable when the girls would coo over him like some child saying its first words or taking its first steps. Allison had seen through Isaac’s exterior quickly compared to the others, he was full of bravado and dark humour, but she could see the fear and desire for companionship within him.
Isaac lost his mother, and then he lost his brother, and that’s hard enough for a kid to go through. But then he lost his father too. Isaac has never had a family, but he’s not opposed to the idea. In fact, although he’d never say so, he would love to be part of a family.
Allison was the quickest of the bunch to realize, cuing Lydia in on the situation. Lydia was the one to realize that although he would flinch away at first, if the touch lingered, Isaac would lean into it. Isaac couldn’t fight his instinct to flinch away or protect himself, but he could show his appreciation for affection wordlessly through his actions once the panic subsided. 
The way that Isaac would lean into pats on the shoulder and head scratches was really, really cute.
And a lot like a puppy.
Dinner and a movie at the Hale loft had become a weekly tradition for the pack. Every week they would find themselves strewn in random places across the loft waiting for someone to cook them dinner, before they would binge watch some cheesy series or some Pixar film.
Derek had become increasingly domestic lately in his attempts to be a better alpha. For Stiles and Scott, it was super bizarre, but Boyd, Lydia, and Allison found it kind of endearing. Erica would’ve probably found it endearing too… If she were capable of feeling anything but annoyance (unless it was towards Boyd, of course). 
As a part of Derek’s initiative, he had finally caved in and purchased some ‘homey’ furniture. The pack was lying anywhere comfortable, taking in the scent of the pasta Derek was cooking. Lydia, Stiles, Scott, and Isaac were arguing over which Disney movie was the best, and which they should watch first.
Isaac hadn’t seen many Disney movies since Camden died, but he knew his definite favourite. “Why would we watch Wall-E when we could be watching Meet The Robinsons? Don’t be a sucker, Stiles.”
“I am not! I can just appreciate a good romance between two lonely robots. Are cute robots in a dystopian future too much to ask for?”
“All I’m saying is The Princess And The Frog was a cultural reset, that movie is amazing and Tiana’s totally badass!” Lydia responded, seemingly disgusted at the mere notion that anyone would find any other movie the best.
When dinner was finally ready, they ended up settling on Aladdin, because Scott, Lydia, and Boyd all wanted to watch a Disney princess movie, but they couldn’t come to a consensus on which one. (Scott, of course, wanted Beauty And The Beast, while Boyd wanted to watch The Little Mermaid. And who knew that Derek wasn’t impartial to Disney Channel Originals?)
Isaac had remembered bits and pieces of the film from when he was younger, but not too much. He did remember that he was attracted to both Jasmine and Aladdin, which was his first of many strange awakenings as a little kid.
Almost like a formula, by the time A Whole New World was blaring from the TV’s speakers, Isaac was laying on the couch and receiving as much physical contact as possible. His head was in Allison’s lap and his feet and legs were draped over Lydia, who was also lying down but not nearly as horizontally and as comfortably as Isaac.
He seemed pretty relaxed despite the fact that he had managed this position by slowly inching closer and closer to the both of them until Allison gently pushed his head down into her lap. She began to scratch his head, Isaac responding by pushing his head further into Allison’s hand, melting into the touch.
Lydia cooed softly, not loud enough for the others to hear her, but loud enough for Isaac’s cheeks to dust pink, even in the low light.
Allison just smiled fondly, scratching a little harder and receiving a quiet, pleased groan in response. Isaac was trying to fight the tiredness that hit him the second Allison had began her calming touch, but it was becoming increasingly hard to fight the closing of his eyes.
Allison started to stray closer to Isaac’s skin, and when she started to scratch behind his ears she believed that his gasp was out of pleasure… It was, but that wasn’t all. When she continued Isaac started to giggle softly, his nose scrunching up at the sensation.
“A little ticklish?” Allison teased when she realized the reason for the giggles. She scratched a little softer, and Isaac started hiccuping softly, a small grin on his face while his eyes remained closed. “Do you want me to stop?”
“‘S good,” Isaac moaned tiredly through his giggles in response, “feels nice.”
Allison laughed as Lydia started her own, ever-so-light tracing over Isaac’s shins. 
“You’re such a puppy.”
Isaac fell asleep giggling softly. He didn’t worry about the pictures that Scott and Stiles would take of him sleeping, curled up with Lydia and Allison as he snored lightly. That was a problem for tomorrow, and oh yes, it is a problem.
Discovery One: Isaac is a lot like a puppy.

Scott’s eyes shot open, immediately trying to figure out what sound had woken him up. He heard it again, a mix of whimpering, panting, and screaming, and it took him a second to realize where it was coming from. He bolted up from his bed, opening his bedroom door and seeing his mom walk down the hall. 
“It’s alright, I’ve got it, Mom,” Scott assured her, waving her off. She smiled out of gratitude, it’s not that she doesn’t want to help her surrogate son, she just knew that Scott was always much better at the job.
Isaac was covered in sweat, his hair matted to his forehead, his hands balled into fists, holding his blanket as tight as he possibly could, white-knuckled. He was in the fetal position, his back to the wall.
Scott sat down on the edge of the bed slowly, reaching out and rubbing circles over Isaac’s back. “Hey, Isaac? Isaac, it’s okay, you’re okay.”
Isaac continued to shake, his eyes squeezed tightly shut as he started to form words through his dream. “N-no, please. I’m sorry. I d-don’t w-want to go in, p-please.”
Scott knew what Isaac was afraid of, and he was suddenly wishing that he could take away mental pain instead of physical. He shook the taller boy harder, until his eyes shot open and he recoiled into the corner of his bed. 
Isaac was breathing hard, panic written on every feature of his face, trying to figure out what was going on. 
Scott looked at him sympathetically, slowly reaching back towards Isaac to put his hand on the boy’s arm. “Hey, you’re alright Isaac, everything’s okay, you’re safe.”
Isaac’s eyes turned to Scott, but they were distant, he wasn’t really looking. Scott brought both of his hands up to cup Isaac’s face.
“It’s okay, I promise you’re safe.”
Isaac’s breathing was still laboured, but he brought his hands up and placed them over Scott’s, gripping on as if his life depended on it. “Th-the freezer?”
“You’re not going in there ever again, Isaac, I promise.”
When Scott saw the realization on Isaac’s face, he pulled him into a hug, one hand across Isaac’s back and the other cradling his head. 
They stayed like that for a few minutes, Scott cradling Isaac and whispering words of assurance while Isaac allowed himself to calm down and breathe.
Wordlessly, Scott ended up getting Isaac to move forward, and Scott slipped himself between Isaac and the wall, holding him close to his chest while they spooned.
Scott had one hand draped over Isaac’s chest while the fingers of his other hand were running through Isaac’s hair. Isaac smiled at the sudden warmth, cuddling into Scott as much as he could. Trying to further soothe him, Scott started to draw shapes with his dull fingernails over Isaac’s hipbone. 
Isaac twitched before bringing his hands to his face, a deep chuckle slipping from his lips. Confused, Scott furrowed his brow, craning his head at the taller boy.
Isaac was still covering his face, but he could feel Scott’s eyes on him. “Stohop thahat.”
“Stop what? This?” Scott started moving his fingers quicker and Isaac flinched hard against Scott’s chest, unable to stop the frantic laughter that spilled from him. “Is someone a little ticklish?” 
“Nohoho! I’m trying tohoho slehehep! Cut it ohohout!” Isaac snapped back, trying to pry Scott’s hand away from his hips. 
Scott smiled, he always loved the sound of Isaac’s laughter, but it was so rare. This laughter was everything in comparison to the ironic, dry laugh that Isaac would let out after he said something sarcastic. Scott stopped, even though he would love to hear the music of Isaac’s laughter for as long as he possibly could. He would have to investigate further another time, but for now, he was content with falling asleep holding Isaac, listening to soft giggles that escaped him as he drifted off too.
Discovery Two: It’s going to take a while for Isaac to be okay, but Scott is more than willing to stay by his side the whole time. The rest of the pack is completely willing too.

With Scott being much busier and all, Melissa had grown to miss spending time with her loud, hyperactive teenager every evening after work. Since Isaac had moved in, he had been spending a lot more time at home after school than Scott. 
Although Isaac was very different from Scott, Melissa enjoyed spending time with Isaac when he was home. The longer Isaac lived with the McCalls, the more like family Isaac became, and Melissa certainly wasn’t complaining. She definitely had enough love in her heart for a new addition to the family.
Isaac was quiet compared to Scott’s usual crowd. Allison and Lydia have always spoken their minds freely, and Stiles was.. well Stiles is Stiles. Isaac was different. He was timid, and he always called her Ms. McCall no matter how many times she would tell him that Melissa was fine. 
Melissa found the manners and timidness cute at first, until Scott had told her about everything Isaac had been to. Now, she tried with every interaction to bring out Isaac’s childish side, the kid deserved a family, and he deserved to act like a kid sometimes too. 
Today, Melissa had come home from a shift to find Isaac cutting up vegetables at the kitchen counter. 
“Hey Isaac, what are you doing?” Melissa greeted, placing a hand on his shoulder. Isaac flinched slightly, looking, as usual, like a deer in the headlights.
“Hi Ms. McCall, I- uh- I was just making dinner because I knew you were working late and I thought you would probably be hungry s-so I decided to make dinner, b-but I started too late so it’s not finished yet. I’m sorry, I swear it sh-should be finished s-soon I just h-have to-”
“Isaac, Isaac it’s alright. It was really nice of you to make dinner, I’m sure it’ll be amazing,” Melissa should’ve stopped him sooner, instead of letting him ramble on and apologize unnecessarily, but she guessed it was better late than never. 
She sat in one of the barstools at the counter, watching Isaac as he tried to cut some carrots in his hand. His hands were shaking and he wasn’t making any progress on the veggies, and Melissa couldn’t let it go on any longer. 
Melissa reached out, holding Isaac’s shaking hands in her own after setting the knife aside. Isaac looked up, he looked fearful, scared that Melissa was going to yell, and she could feel her eyes going soft. She started to softly rub circles over his knuckles, watching slight confusion flash on his face. 
“Isaac, hun, you don’t have to apologize for anything. You haven’t done anything wrong, and even if you had made a mistake, which you didn’t, I wouldn’t hurt you. People make mistakes, and the worst punishment you’d ever expect under the McCall roof is a weekend grounding and a talk. You’re safe, you’re okay Isaac.”
Isaac looked up from their hands, relief in his eyes and a small smile on his face. “Th-thanks Ms. McCall.”
“I’m still fine with you just calling me Melissa,” She got up and walked behind the counter, “now, can I help?”
She had tasered Isaac in his side to get him to scoot over, and he recoiled with a giggle. Melissa recalled fond memories of tickling Scott absolutely silly, something she would do to him up until only recently, when he was about fifteen or sixteen. The memory triggered her maternal instinct, and she started spidering her fingers up and down his sides, going from his hips to the top of his ribs. 
“Mihihiss McCahahall!” Isaac doubled over, he was trying not to fight back so that he wouldn’t hurt her, but his instincts weren’t always easy to fight. Instead of trying to bat her hands away or grab her wrists, he sunk to the floor, ending up with his back against the cupboard and his knees up, Melissa still hovering over him and poking him wherever she could reach. “Plehehehease, it tihihickles!”
“I’d sure hope so!” Melissa teased, but she let up, offering Isaac her hand so he could stand up. She ruffled his hair before passing him the knife he had been using to cut the veggies, grabbing one for herself. “I’ll do the onions, Scott always complains about how they hurt his eyes.”
Discovery Three: Isaac deserved kindness, he just didn’t know it yet, and Melissa would be damned if she didn’t help him realize.

Allison, Lydia, and Melissa weren’t the only people to realize that Isaac desired a family, the entire pack had caught on eventually. Derek was a little late to the revelation, but better late than never. 
As a shock to both himself and the rest of the pack, Derek stepped up to a parental role rather quickly. He had already had the cooking, cleaning, and pack hugs down, but now he found himself fussing over Isaac like a mother would. Derek was over-protective, caring, and understanding. It was everything that Isaac hadn’t realized he needed, even though he wouldn't admit it.
Whenever Isaac was hurt, he immediately had Allison, Lydia, and Derek fussing over him like a child who had fallen off of his bike. It made him blush beyond compare, and he would always try to bat them away, but time and time again they would still rush to his side despite his quick healing. 
Derek had started attending every lacrosse game. He wasn’t vocal like Melissa or the sheriff, but his eager thumbs up and the big smile he would plaster on his face every time Isaac looked over were enough to fuel a lifetime’s worth of embarrassment.
Isaac was killing it this game, and paired with Stiles and Scott, the team was definitely winning. 
Afterwards, they had ran into the changing rooms, but something told Isaac that he should be listening to the parents outside. 
“The boys were amazing today, it’s crazy how much they’ve improved since the start of the season,” Melissa said. 
“Yeah, they were great, I’m so proud of my boy,” the Sheriff seemed to agree.
At this point, Scott had noticed Isaac’s preoccupation, and he decided to listen for himself.
“It was a great game, I’m proud of Isaac and how far he’s come to trust his team.”
It wasn’t much, Derek had always been a man of few words, but it was enough to have Isaac cover his face, blushing up to the tips of his ears. 
Scott smiled, moving closer to ruffle Isaac’s hair. “Aww, Derek’s proud of his favourite puppy.”
“Shut up!” Isaac groaned, packing all of his stuff into his bag. 
“You’re definitely getting a ‘Daddy’s Favourite’ shirt for Christmas,” Stiles joked, following suit with Isaac and packing his things. 
The three of them walked out, greeted by their guardians awaiting them. 
“Good job, guys, that was a great game!” Ms. McCall praised them, putting her arm around Scott’s shoulder. The sheriff hummed in agreement, while Derek gave Isaac a small smile. 
“If it’s okay with you two, I’d like to take the boys out for some food,” Derek spoke, looking at Ms. McCall and Sheriff Stilinski for approval.
“Totally fine by me, I have a night shift to be getting to,” Sheriff Stilinski approved, giving Stiles a pat on his shoulder and saying goodbye. 
“Totally fine by me too,” Melissa nodded, eyes Scott and Isaac, “I will see you two later, don’t get into too much trouble.”
Derek smiled at the three teens before asking them where they wanted to go, Stiles and Scott branching off into an argument of Olive Garden vs TGIFridays. Isaac just got physically closer to Derek, walking next to him instead of behind like Stiles and Scott were.
“You played really well that game, Isaac. You’ve really improved,” Derek praised him and Isaac was back at his furious blushing. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, looking down.
Isaac looked awkward, but Derek knew he liked the compliments. Derek could smell it on him.
Derek brought a hand up and tried to swat Isaac’s hand from his neck, but Isaac gasped and twitched away. 
“No way,” Derek had a mischievous smile on his face, Isaac just let out a long groan in response. “Well, if you won’t take my compliments, I might have to use my discovery and take some drastic measures. Next game, I’m gonna make a sign, it’ll say ‘I’m Isaac’s #1 fan’.”
Discovery Four: Isaac liked compliments, he just didn’t know how to take them

“Just- lay still!” Stiles grunted, pulling the tweezers away from Isaac’s neck. Stiles had snuck up on Lydia and Lydia had screamed, shattering every glass within a 5 metre radius.
Isaac, sadly, was in that radius, and he had been bringing his glass up to his mouth when it shattered. Most of the glass ended up piercing through his shirt, some small shards lodged in his chest, but others had ended up in his neck.
Stiles was trying to take the glass out, but Isaac’s wiggling was a little too much. 
“I have like four left, Isacc, can you just stop wiggling?”
“I’ll stop wiggling if you stop touching me.”
Stiles sighed, watching as Isaac’s cuts practically healed instantly. He had gotten all of the shards out, but Stiles still wanted to have some fun. 
“Hey, Scott? Could you come hold Isaac while I try to get the rest of this glass?”
“Sure thing, Stiles,” Scott had clued in on the situation as soon as Stiles had started speaking, the familiar glint of mischief in his voice. 
Isaac had bolted upright, getting up to run, walking straight into Derek instead.
“What’s wrong, Isaac? A little… sensitive?” Stiles paused for dramatic effect as Derek stopped Isaac from leaving.
“He is, actually! You should try his ears,” Allison piped up.
“Or his legs.”
“His hips are pretty bad.”
“Yeah, his ribs are too.”
All the werewolves in the room had perked up, Isaac’s pulse had skyrocketed when Stiles had mentioned his ribs. Scott hadn’t even realized that a heart could beat that fast considering Isaac had already been on edge when his sensitivity was mentioned. 
Isaac wasn’t one for negotiating, or begging, really, so instead he just turned to run, getting as far as a grand total of two feet before Scott came barreling into him, knocking him to the ground.  They rolled for a bit until Scott inevitably got the upper hand, pinning Isaac’s arms to his sides.
“Any last words?”
Isaac had opened his mouth to respond, but ended up interrupting himself with a bouquet of giggles as someone dragged a finger up his sole.
“I’m sorry, were you planning on saying something? My bad,” Stiles taunted.
Scott chuckled at his best friend’s antics before tracing his fingers over Isaac’s collarbones. Isaac started to chuckle, shaking his head frantically in an attempt to shake the fingers off. 
Allison and Lydia had gotten closer to the three of them, but didn’t dare join in in case Isaac got overwhelmed by all the touch. They did, however, share a look as they both mutually agreed to play a game that they often used to tease Isaac. The goal was to see who could make him blush the most for the longest, and it was far more entertaining than any movie or tv show ever is.
“Aww, is the whittle puppy ticklish? The puppy can’t take a little belly rub?” Lydia teased, leaning in to quickly scratch over Isaac’s belly once. Isaac snorted, throwing his head back.
“Is the big, bad beta giggling? Is a little tickling too much to handle? Maybe you’re gonna need a little extra protection against those hunters, what if they found out about your little secret?” Allison hadn’t expected for her comments to embarrass Isaac so much, but he desperately tried to hide his violently red face anywhere that he could. 
Stiles was growing bored, and he had started to trace upwards, scratching over Isaac’s thighs. Isaac tried to kick away, but Stiles wasn’t sitting in any position that could lead to himself getting hurt.
“C’mon Derek, aren’t you gonna join?” Scott asked, tracing his fingers over the shells of Isaac’s ears and appreciating the lazy, adorable laughter that it produced. He was gonna have to catalogue that for future cuddling.
Derek considered the offer before finally leaning over the beta, rapidly tasering Isaac’s ribs as Isaac began to flail and flop like a fish out of water, screaming out protests.
“Oh Gohohod!” Isaac squealed, desperately trying to retrieve his wrists from Scott’s grasp. Scott finally did let go, but Isaac’s brain had gone into overdrive as his laughter entered a territory of silence. Isaac couldn’t even begin to think of an effective use of his hands, let alone instruct them to follow through. 
“Ple- Pleehehe-” Isaac wasn’t one for negotiating, or begging, but now he was certainly wishing that he had the ability to do either. His words kept dying in his streams of laughter, which were only interrupted by snorts, hiccups, and gasps.
Isaac was radiating joy, the werewolves in the room could smell it stronger than anything else, but the kid needed to breathe too.
“Alright, that’s enough bullying for one day, kids,” Derek swatted Stiles and Scott off of his beta and Isaac suddenly wished he had the ability to express his gratefulness, but instead he curled in on himself, still laughing hysterically against his own will. 
“Now that,” Stiles began, flopping himself on the couch, “is a useful discovery.”
“Oh really, Stiles? If it’s so interesting then I guess you’d be okay with being next, huh Stiles?” Derek responded, partially to embarrass Stiles and partially to take some embarrassment away from his favourite puppy. 
“Don’t you dare- Derek, no don’t even think about it! Stop!”

g u e s s w h a t??? it's SERIES TIME BABEY. this was partially inspired by my conversations with @youthbitch​. @time-is-a-lake you may also like this. i think i'll be making these shorter than most of my headcanon lists but i hope you enjoy it regardless! (this is #1 on the list btw, part 2 is coming soon  (it's jason todd yeet))

- have you ever seen the vine with the chick drinking arizona and saying “bitch??? me too, the fuck??”? that's him. that's kylo.
- yes, it is very much a shocker (not really), but honest to god he's probably asexual i would assume that he's not a romantic though and is more along the spectrum of like sex indifferent and alterous in his attraction (meaning he would like emotional closeness while not being strictly platonic or romantic) but that could change depending on your inherent relationship
- generally speaking mans isn't really opposed to the idea but genuinely doesn't care whether or not you wanna get down and dirty. he prefers to just not though since it kind of brings back bad memories for him and just has a Bad Time™ in general unless you've been dating for like,,, months or maybe even years
- with both of you being asexual he's probably more secure with himself and doesn't feel like something is wrong with him. it took him a while to realize that just not wanting to do anything sexual but wanting companionship wasn't wrong or broken in any sense of the word and honestly having someone else like that really means a lot to him. he doesn't feel like he needs to be sexual like he did in past relationships
- he's still super attention starved and touch-starved though. generally speaking kylo has a condition i call Needs A Hug syndrome where if he doesn't get one or more displays of affection he might start to berate himself emotionally in terms of believing you don't want him or don't find him desirable anymore
- so, simply put, he will be hanging onto your side almost 24/7
- hand holding, kissing, hugging; you've got the equivalent of a big toddler as a boyfriend and he will definitely appreciate any form of affection you give him. i also headcanon him as a bit of a bottom by nature (not sexually obviously but more just generally) so he would love it if you just like,,, ran your hands through his hair. or let him put his head in your lap. or sang to him. just give him some love seriously
- oh also since he's a big dude his hands basically engulf yours when you hold hands unless youre like his size. also his hands are consistently warm.
- i've heard the phrase "ace culture is wearing big ass sweaters that are meant for winter at all times of the year" and tbh that's just him on a whole. that's all he wears. all he wears is large clothing and that's it
- it's not difficult to get him to dress in something nice or whatever, it's just that he doesn't see a point in showing off his physique at all. when he does dress up it's for a special occasions and he doesn't actually think he looks good so pls just tell him he looks handsome or that he makes you proud of him or something, please just give him some validation
- he may beat himself down a lot about how "pathetic" and "weak" he is but straight up if he sees you look at your reflection badly once (1 time) he WILL validate you and tell you that you look gorgeous and that he'd never be able to get over it if you left. man loves you more than anything in this galaxy so god help anyone who even tires to make you feel like you're anything less than a god/goddess. and you can fight him on that
- overall 20/10 best big boy on the planet, very sweet very kind and would like some affection please
