and the thing is 4-1 is less of a betrayal and more like kristoph facing the consequences for his actions but he would still be SO bitter abt it.

he sees what phoenix did as more of a betrayal than what he did because, to him, phoenix just disregarded seven years of history between them. versus what he did which was just screw over a guy he didnt even know

Day 6: Chains

I am absolutely entranced by the intricate rituals in how Kristoph and Phoenix address each other.

Phoenix starts off the game by calling him Kristoph - we can assume that's his default during their active friendship. They're friends, Kristoph gets first name.

Then in all his early accusatory statements, Phoenix uses his full name for emphasis. Kristoph Gavin; you, the full person with the full reputation; you, the formal legal entity known as Kristoph Gavin.

As soon as Phoenix publicly reveals why he thinks Kristoph committed the murder, Kristoph loses first name privileges. He's 'Mr. Gavin' for the rest of the trial. Friendship seemingly ended.

And then when Phoenix visits him in jail, he becomes simply 'Gavin'. The lack of honorific could be perceived as rude, but I believe that it also eliminates distance between them.

This is the first and only time their forms of address for one another match.

In the time we've seen them in the game they've gone from 'Mr. Wright' and 'Kristoph' to 'Wright' and 'Mr. Gavin' - but now, finally, it's plain Wright and Gavin.

The exact same distance. They've finally met in the middle.

absolutely obsessed with the thought of kristoph debating on whether he should get rid of the loose-end known as trucy wright. on one hand it would almost guarantee kristoph's victory if he got away with it, on the other hand trucy is going to a sleepover next weekend and he KNOWS she's gonna come back with fresh gossip
