being surrounded by boys at all times was hard. even more when all of them treat you like a sister, which meant that mockery was more than common. the only person that didnt treat y/n like a sister was kimi, and everyone seemed to notice it but her. since y/n had joined prema, a certain brown haired boy had been pinning over her constantly. of course, he didn't know that she saw him the same way. everyone noticed and made it clear for them, but they both refused to admit it. in this particular day, y/n sat with sebastian and hamda, who were chatting away about something she didn't quite understand. not that she was paying attention anyways. she was too busy looking at kimi, who was talking to one of the engineers a couple tables away. “you do understand that looking at him wont do anything, right?” sebastian asked, making the girl look back at him. “i don't know what youre talking about” she tried to deny “im talking about how you and kimi constantly drool over each other but won't admit it” hamda nodded at his words. “he doesnt drool over me” she insisted “yes he does, its kinda sad at this point” y/n rolled her eyes before directing them towards the boy again, deciding to ignore sebastian. their eyes met for a split of a second before he looked back at the man he was talking to, red as a tomato. “look at you, all red because she’s staring at you,” the man said, laughing at his blushed face. “she is not” he defended, looking at her direction only to see her focused on whatever hamda was saying. “you gotta go for it, mate. if not, you will lose your chance with her” kimi felt a hand on his shoulder and looked back at his opposite. “whatever, lets focus on the data.” the days passed by and kimi and y/n seemed to be having the same interactions with everyone. people teased them endlessly and tried to talk some sense into them, but it did nothing more than annoy the two teenagers. y/n found herself basically running away from conrad and kirill the moment they got distracted. they had been teasing her about her crush for what felt like hours and she couldn't take it anymore. she headed for the driver's bus, knowing that there was no one there. on the other hand, kimi seemed to have the same idea. “oh, sorry” she said as she opened the door and noticed there was someone there already. kimi recognized her voice immediately and turned rapidly to see her “its okay” her heartbeat slightly picked up when she noticed who it was. “is everything okay?” he asked, wondering why she was in such a rush “yeah, just trying to run away from conrad and kirill” she chuckled. he smiled at her laugh, it truly was one of the prettiest sounds he had ever heard. “why?” he furrowed his eyebrows slightly “they are being more annoying than normal, well, everyone is” she let go an exasperated sigh, pushing herself up to seat on one of the tables. “i know right!” he agreed. “what are they annoying you about?” y/n asked after a couple second of silence, wanting to keep the conversation going “uhm… they have this idea that you like me” his words were almost whispers. “oh…” her tone matched his “i know it's not true, don't worry” he smiled weakly, looking down at the floor. y/n didn't know what to say. she wanted him to know it was true, but she was scared. what if he didnt like her back? what if he laughed at her face? she knew he wouldn't do that, he was too nice, but it still scared her. fuck it. “what if it wasn't a joke?” she asked suddenly, making kimi look up at her. “what?” he looked so confused, it was kind of adorable. “what if i actually did like you? how would you react?” he didn't want to believe what was happening, it must have been a cruel joke. “you don't though, right?” he was scared, if it was a joke, it wasn't funny. “i do.” y/n wasn't scared anymore. she was already doing it and she wasn't going to back off now. there was silence for a moment. she was looking at him expectantly, trying to decipher what he thought. “i like you too” his words resonated in her head. he liked her back. “good.” she smiled. he smiled back at her, and just as he was about to say something else the door slammed open. “fucking finally!” arthur cheered, causing the large group of people behind him to cheer. y/n covered her face in embarrassment while kimi smiled at her gesture before approaching the door and closing it on their faces without a word. he turned to her, moving her hands off her face softly before pecking her lips shyly. she chuckled at his shyness before enveloping him in a hug.

Liam Lawson on F1 accessibility and Ollie Bearman:

THIS is it!! This is what we’re saying! Liam and Ollie both performed superbly when given the opportunity to do so. It’s clear that the F1 car is manageable for someone making a quick jump from F2 or older F1 cars. When-in my experience-the reason teams have been hesitant maybe to bring in younger talent like Liam and Ollie is cause of the difference in the car. Liam and Ollie have both said that’s not true and they both did quite well through several tough races in Liam’s case like Singapore and Qatar.

It’s for reasons like what Liam says that we need to either push out some of the guys who aren’t performing at their level (*cough* Ricciardo *cough*) or open up the sport to more teams! If Andretti had gotten their bid accepted, Liam Lawson might not have to wait around for DR to get his head out of Chr*stian Horners ass and retire and he could have a seat for 2025. Cause until that happens, and until other teams make moves to push out their older competitors. Liam (and Ollie, sort of) can’t join F1.

And another problem this raises, is that either of them could have a seat next year. If teams weren’t so scared of missing out on the next Max Verstappen.

Toto Wolff practically has the seat reserved for Kimi Antonelli and he will do whatever it takes to either get it to him in 2025, or blow off that year to wait for Kimi in 2026. Meaning that Liam and Ollie would be left on their asses if either if them signed to Merc. And this isn’t hate to Kimi! This is simply a criticism of the teams only taking younger talent when they’re considered prodigious.

If they signed to a lower grid team like Haas-who we know are in tentative talks with Ollie-or Sauber or Alpine then they will underperform to their potential because the car they drive is shitty but they’ll be the ones blamed for it due to “lack of experience” and teams can continue to make the claim that the F2 to F1 jump is too big and the cycle repeats perpetually until it’s just not worth it and we the fans lose out on potential great talent. Even though drivers who have been in the sport for years can underperform in the same car and it’s fine!

It doesn’t make sense, truly, for them to not trust younger talent when Zak Brown and Mclaren have signed the youngest pairing on the grid, who after updates last year to the car, were pretty consistent with placing in the points and earned them several podiums.

Also, look at how much good the 2019 rookies ended up being for the sport. 3 childhood friends entered into F1, there were highs, lows, etc they each got their shot to prove themselves and now. One is working to rebuild a historic team, one is outperforming a 7 time champion (again no hate just observation) and one is considered to be apart of the team that can take the fight to RedBull and Ferrari

It just doesn’t make sense when young drivers get passed up even when they prove themselves in favor of relying on middling drivers who’s time in the sun have kind of passed on.

Anyway, I hope Liam and Ollie get a seat next year. I hope Kimi Antonelli does what’s best for him as a kid rather than what is best for his career. I hope Daniel Ricciardo gets kicked out mid season. And I hope the next time a team comes in trying to join F1, they can actually do it

Why Bahrain 2024 likely hurt Sainz seat options in 2025

So this essay is going to be my thoughts about why Carlos' performance in Bahrain 2024 on and off the track did not help his chances of securing a good seat in 2025.

I want to make it clear that I do think Carlos is a decent driver. He's had some good races(not the ones people usually point to but that's not the point here) . I am approaching this from the perspective that he is a solid driver. Which makes his current situation only more unusual. 

Quick summary of what happened: Carlos started his race in P4 behind George Russell, teammate Charles, and Max on pole.

On lap 11 Carlos overtook Charles(who was clearly struggling and was dealing with a major brake mechanical issue) in a risky move that came close to causing a collision. 

The rest of his race was uneventful. He held on to P3 mainly because Charles and George had major mechanical problems with their cars.

I already stated that the overtake he pulled on Charles was unnecessarily risky, and did not serve the team. Ferrari were very likely going to have them swap(because Carlos' car was working properly) It was obvious that would be the strategy, but he went for an unnecessary and risky overtake to gain a position. 

He finished his race in P3. 

Main takeaways from the race:

Sainz set a slower fastest lap than his teammate who was operating on compromised brakes.

That overtake is not really impressive. 1. It was unnecessary, anyone who knows race strategy would be able to figure out what the plan would be(to eventually have drivers trade places). 2. Dangerous to potentially cause a collision between teammates(bad for the team) 3. It isn't really showing much skill to be able to overtake a car on bad brakes.

Overall the race performance wasn't anything remarkable, it was predictable and didn't require any crazy driving on Sainz' part to achieve.

So what does this all mean?

Well it's easy to think looking at the 2025 driver market that Sainz, who is a solidly good driver, should have no problem finding a seat.

However the way he is playing the game on and off track is making him a difficult choice, especially for top teams.

Carlos says he wants to be world champion one day, and that his goal for his next seat is to be in a car that has the best chance of giving him that. Okay well there are limited options. 

Because yes there are a lot of open seats, but none of the top teams are looking for a first driver. And that is where Sainz is in trouble. Most teams are looking for a second driver(or are not competitive)

Let's examine.

Mercedes: Well they are losing Lewis Hamilton. And Sainz might be a good fit. But they aren't looking for a first driver. They have George, who is more experienced at Mercedes and after being second to Lewis for years he isn't going to be taking a backseat to whoever comes next.

On top of the fact that Merc are clearly trying to keep their options open for Kimi Antonelli to join in the next few seasons. They are looking for someone who can fill the seat in the meantime, bring home points and not cause trouble.

Sainz has shown he'll do the opposite and probably does not want to be replaced by a rookie after a short contract.

Merc was thrown a curve-ball when Lewis left. Sainz is actually a good choice of second driver. The fact that they have an open seat and didn't go to him immediately speaks volumes. 

Red Bull: this is where I think Carlos really shot himself in the foot. 

There is a Red Bull seat potentially opening up. This is ideal if you want to be at the front of the field fighting for podiums.

However Max is RB number 1. They make that abundantly clear. And Red Bull as a team are especially no nonsense when it comes to second drivers staying in line. Carlos has never been competitive against Max, so the pecking order there is clear. 

If you want that Red Bull seat you have to show you are a solid driver who can be that second seat and won't mess up their number 1. The second you start causing trouble you're out.

Once again Carlos showed he'll do the opposite. That if he thinks he has a chance he will take it regardless of if it's smart, safe, or in the interest of the team.

Carlos is racing like he only cares about his own results. That in itself is not a crime. All drivers do need to think like that to an extent. However being driven by that mentality given there aren't any number 1 seats open at top teams is a problem. That mentality just clashes with the ecosystem other teams have already worked out, and it makes him a difficult option to seriously consider. 

So we've covered how his performance and driving overall didn't help. Now let's get into after the race.

After the race Carlos tried to claim he had similar bake issues to Charles(this is factually untrue. He may have had slight brake imbalance settings but it is completely different than Charles having a 100 degree temp imbalance. Race data and team radio does not support his claim)

This was a very obvious manipulation of the truth to try to make it seem like he drove a better race than his teammate(again this is incorrect, and data proves the opposite) 

Once again this kind of rhetoric does not help build a positive image of what he's like to work with and how he will play in a team.

After that he may have options at some of the mid-field teams. However if he shows hes too difficult to work with they will likely explore other options 

Carlos Sainz is a good driver. I don't think he's amazing, but he's decent and pretty reliable. Has experience in upper teams. Any mid field team should be wooing him. The fact that they aren't is once again, very telling.

The fact he is making himself so difficult to work with that teams who have seats to fill aren't trying to more aggressively campaigning for him says a lot.

I know he doesn't want a midfield team. And I'm sure some have reached out. My concern is that he is so focused on trying to get a top seat that he is less and less likely to get by the day, that he is hurting his chances at a good midfield seat.

Being difficult in the press and messy is something teams consider. You can get away with anything if you have the skills to back it up. Sainz doesn't. He talks about himself and his abilities like he's won a championship, when in reality he's won 2 GP and those were not seriously competitive races. 

Here's the thing. I think the results this weekend on paper look good. That in addition to the struggles both Charles and George were having, Carlos' outcome would have been the same. 

This isn't about the result, it's about how it was achieved and how he is speaking about it.

There is a version of this race that has the exact same overall results but looks better for Carlos.

What Carlos should have done is wait for the safe opportunity to pass Charles(likely backed by team orders) hold onto P3(which he did do) and then in the press after say he's happy to get a result for the team and express some sympathy for Charles’ brake issues. It's the very little things that make a big difference.

My main point being, Sainz is obviously trying to prove himself for a seat in 2025. He is doing this by putting himself first in any way possible. This is the opposite of what he should be doing optically to appeal to teams. He needs to show that he is reliable, takes team orders and can play the role of second driver. Or at the very least not stir the pot too much. 

He's doing the opposite and it's probably going to cost him his chances at either the Red Bull or Mercedes seats. 

If he was my driver I would be like "what are you doing?" Because he isn't helping himself.

Ultimately I think that Sainz' actions are a miscalculation on his position in the driver market. He's good, but trying to artificially prop himself up and expressly demonstrate on track that he will be difficult with teammates is not going to land in his favor.

who i think is going to get the merc seat in 2025, in no particular order, now that lewis has packed his shit for the prancing red ponies:

1. alex albon - kind of the obvious answer here since merc has a history of getting its drivers from williams and bc hes doing quite well for himself anyway. but also i do not have the mental strength to handle brocedes 2.0

2. kimi antonelli - people are hyping this guy up like crazy and i wouldn't be surprised if he won f2 this year. this is possibly the next max verstappen we're talking abt, and if he ends up being as fast as he has proven in junior formulae then merc will jump at the opportunity to get him in f1. there is obv a probability that he will go to williams in case albon moves or sargeants contract doesnt get renewed, but i think merc will be wanting to get one of their junior academy drivers in that f1 seat.

3. mick schumacher - he's already their reserve driver and has f1 experience so maybe toto wolff decides why the fuck not and puts him in that merc seat. not too likely, but a girl can be delusional

4. fernando alonso - im mostly kidding with this one but honestly i could see him going to merc bc like why the fuck not lol. i mean hes probably not gonna retire anytime soon

5. frederik vesti - he is still a merc junior academy driver and did quite well in f2 in the years that he was there, but his move to european le mans makes me less inclined to believe he will return to formula racing

6. carlos sainz - there is absolutely no way but it would be so fucking hilarious if he and lewis just like swapped teams in 2025

7. esteban ocon - ppl are saying he has a good shot at that seat and honestly maybe? i can see it happening but im not so inclined

sorry absolutely zero chance of it being Mclaren, Zack is sold on his lineup and he isn’t gonna risk changing it. Plus they have all said multiple times that they are taking no part of Silly Season, and that they’re just spectators.

Also, Kimi Antonelli is still Toto’s number 1 pick so if they decide to hold him back another year (which is unlikely) then I don’t see Carlos signing a contract for just one year. He’s probably going to wait it out at Sauber or —by some miracle—get a Red Bull seat

Zack isn't going to change anything, but can we be as sure about the McLaren drivers? Both of them have different reasons they could decide to take a chance on Red Bull: Lando is absolutely desperate for a win and it's starting to look like that won't happen this year yet again due to Red Bull being so far ahead and Ferrari being the only team being close to catching them. Oscar will never have a team built around him so long as he's at McLaren next to Lando, whereas Max could retire in the next couple of years and Red Bull need a new n1 to come in to build around.

It is a little bit of a long shot, but I don't think it's impossible. If Zack were to lose one his drivers to Red Bull, I think he'd give Carlos a contract tomorrow. Either way, I'm watching Lando and Oscar extremely closely.

Also, I don't trust anyone who says they're not taking part in Silly Season, with new regs coming up and the Merc and Red Bull seats still open I think all drivers are looking for ways to better their drives.

My choice rn are based on the fact that I do think that seat is earmarked for Kimi Antonelli in 2026, so I don’t see Merc looking at a lot of long term options, unless they are planning not to keep George.

Sainz is the obvious choice. Give him 1 year before he goes to Audi, and then the seat is free again. It would be symbiotic. I just…don’t see it though. I can’t see Toto clicking with Carlos and the way he does things, and I think Carlos would rather go straight to Sauber that fight with George for one year needlessly.

Alex’s name has definitely been bandied about I’m sure. Solid driver, good relationship with George. Would he leave the long term project just for the chance of hanging onto that seat somehow? I feel like an offer will be made to him, idk if he would take it.

I am not up on F2 enough to really be throwing too names in the ring. I’ve heard Vesti, and obviously pourchaire won last year and doesn’t have a seat…however I don’t see Merc putting a rookie in the seat, unless it’s

Kimi Antonelli. Long shot, to put him in categorically too early. But, it could be a stroke of genius to put him in right before the reg changes. They can write off 2025 in terms of results and he can gain experience before coming in to 2026 ready to actually score points. Ultimately I think it would be too much of a gamble for Toto but it’s something Christian would do, so who knows.

As I’ve said, I do think the ultimate plan at Merc is for Kimi to succeed Lewis as first driver and George to be second. With that in mind, 2025 is a bit of a limbo year for Merc. Unless they are ultimately planning to replace George with someone like Alex, they need a stopgap solution. Maybe even a Hulkenberg or a Perez would do - older, experienced, on their way out. Because the younger promising driver is contracted and I don’t think they’re looking for a long term number 1. That’s just my take

I’ve got the feeling Mercedes are focusing on Fred Vesti to fill the seat next to George in the future -if his performance will keep growing, we will probably see this year what he can do in F2 with Prema-. Generally speaking, any good driver with the right car is a potential WDC, but one thing is if we are talking about titles won in “peculiar” years, where teams expected to perform don’t and an underdog has an actual shot to the title, another is talking about titles like year 2021 or 1997 or even 2016 if we want, where the fight between talents was drawn out till the very end of the season, because to win a title like that, skills and a strong iron mind are required. Charles has WDC potential, but I fear he’s risking to fall victim of his own hype in the end. Ferrari pushed Vettel aside for him (and many other reasons, but I will stop here or this ask will go on forever) and he’s been the golden child in the team since joining the program, basically, which could be a bless and a curse at the same time. I don’t actually believe Mercedes truly wants him, naturally, if the chance to snatch him was concrete, they would be stupid not to go for it, but I don’t think they’re actively pursuing him as people like Toto makes everyone believe. Lando even less, George aside, I don’t see Mercedes truly interested in him at all (might be completely wrong tho). I think the problem with Lando is, yes, he’s talented, but for now he’s mostly all talk and no gain. And there have been a win and podiums in McLaren recently, but for some reason a win never manifested for him when there’s been at least two chances that comes to mind where it could’ve happened. I don’t think it was just because of misfortune, you know? And now that he is teammates with Oscar, well… his shining star might start to shine a little less if his younger teammate manages to put the car in a position similar to his (because the thing that gets hyped the most about Lando is the ability to put the car where it -supposedly- doesn’t belong… well guess we will see where the car actually belongs this year).

I’m actually not sure about Mercedes commitment to Fred Vesti. As things stand, he doesn’t really strike me as someone they’re putting their all into finding a route into F1 for. If you think that George started doing F1 testing for Merc while he was in GP3, whereas they hadn’t given Fred any F1 running until this November and that was out of lack of options rather than having a specific choice to run him? They prioritised De Vries over Vesti, someone who was only part of their stable via FE. I don’t know, at the moment I’m not seeing a loud enthusiasm for him from Merc. Their next focal point seems to be Kimi Antonelli and he’s still a long way off F1. I feel Merc are more likely to go outside of their junior program for their next driver like they did with Valtteri?

I don’t feel like they’ll chase Lando or Charles unless they start to lose faith in George somehow? There’s not many drivers at the moment that you feel would be happy to take a #2 role although if Mercedes are on top I think a few would take the plunge.

But who knows, weirder things have happened in F1! Who thought we’d get Albon at Williams or a Magnussen/Hulkenberg line up at Haas?!

that was the first thought that crossed amelie’s head as she received a facetime call from her brother, lorenzo.

see, that wouldn't normally be her reaction, she loved when her brothers called her. but in this ocation, she knew exactly what he was calling about.

it was a day after kimi won the race.

a day after kimi kissed her in front of everyone.

lorenzo and charles were not at that race, therefore, they did not know about the two teenagers.

the girl sighed before picking up the call.

“hi, enzo. how’s life going?” she asked, her voice sounding slightly high pitched with nervousness. “well, life was going great until i saw a video of a kid kissing my little sister at a race” he said, looking at her bluntly through the screen. “whaaaat?” she asked, and if she wasn't as nervous as she was, she would have laughed at how her voice sounded. “yeah, charles sent me the video. actually, let’s add him to the call” her oldest brother said “yeah, what a great idea” she chuckled nervously.

as they waited for charles to pick up the call, amelie thought of all the things that could go wrong. i mean, they weren’t going to forbid her to have a relationship… would they?

when charles finally answered, the usual smile that adorned his face when he called his sister wasn't present, and it scared amelie.

charles was always the one whom she was closer to. she mostly travelled and spent time with him, and he always treated her as nicely as he could. he did bully her a lot, but that's just sibling stuff.

“hey, favourite older brother” she said, waving her hand at the camera. “hey, little sister that hides stuff from me” he answered sarcastically, “i technically didn't hide anything from you, i just forgot to tell you” amelie saw how her two older brothers rolled their eyes at the exact same time. “who is that kid anyways?” lorenzo asked “his name is kimi, he's an f4 driver for prema” she answered, smiling slightly at the thought of him “how old is he?” her brother asked yet another question “16 now" Charles and lorenzo both nodded, as if they were deep in thought.

“does he treat you right?” charles broke the silence. “of course” the girl nodded. there was silence for a few seconds until charles spoke“i guess there is nothing wrong then, do as you please” he sighed. “really?” the youngest leclerc exclaimed. “yeah, he looks like a good kid. i approve” lorenzo said. amelie cheered, standing up and doing a mini happy dance.

the two brothers smiled as they watched her, content to see her happy.

“okay then, now that that is settled, i have to go” lorenzo said. they all said their goodbyes before ending the call, leaving a very happy amelie behind.

what she didn't know was that kimi was watching her from the door, leaning against it and smiling. he didn't understand a word from the whole conversation she had over the phone —as he did not speak french— but he had gone into the room when he heard his name, and watching her for a bit wouldn't harm anyone.

his heart almost melted at the sight of her happy dance, so when she hung up the phone he couldn't help himself and went straight to her and wrapped his arms around her.

his chest was pressed against her back as he lifted her up, spinning her around a few times before gently putting her down. he swore he wouldn't ever hear something better than the sound of her laugh as she hugged his arms around her.

she turned around to face him, snaking her arms on his shoulders and caressing the back of his neck softly. they admired each other for a few seconds before she spoke.

“my brothers called me to ask about you” she whispered, as if raising her voice would break the moment. “and what did they say?” amelie noticed how he bit the inside of his cheek, something he did when he was nervous. “they said that they approve and that you look like a nice kid” she smiled as his cheeks went slightly pink. “awe, you're red” she taunted, chuckling as he buried his face on her neck. “shush”

they stayed in that position for a bit, before kimi lifted his head, kissed her forehead and let her go.

“i think we should go get an ice cream before someone finds me and makes me go back to training,” the boy said, smiling. “i think that is an insanely good idea” she nodded, taking his hand and going to the door.

they snuck out of the prema building, gunning for the ice cream shop that was a few blocks away. it was near a coffee shop where they always saw conrad and alana. they had seen the pair sitting there the first time they went to the ice cream, but since amelie knew they thought no one knew about the place, she never said anything.

as they reached the ice cream shop, they had to walk past a group of girls who were sitting there. amerie saw how they looked at kimi, and she didn't like it one bit.

she pretended not to notice them as they made their way to the counter, where she asked for pistachio and him for chocolate ice cream. much for ameries distaste, kimi decided they should sit on one of the tables outside, right next to the group of girls.

amelie tried to ignore them, really, but it was evident on her face how she was not feeling it.

“everything okay?” kimi asked, furrowing his eyebrows “those girls wont stop staring at you” she sighed, her lips pouting slightly. he smiled softly at her before looking at the girls for a split of second. “sucks for them that i'm only looking at you, then” the boy smiled, leaning in to kiss her forehead. she smiled, tilting her head up and puckering her lips so he would kiss her.

he pecked her lips with a soft smile, before they both continued to eat their ice cream.

bonus!!

arthur received a video call from both of his brothers while he drank water post work out. he answered almost immediately.

“hey!” he greeted, smiling. his eyebrows furrowed as he saw both of his brothers glaring at him through the screen. “whatever happened, it was amelie not me” he tried to defend himself of the none existen reproaches.

“you didn't tell us amelie has a boyfriend” lorenzo spoke up, still glaring. “she does?” arthur asked, confused. charles facepalmed as lorenzo rolled his eyes. “they kissed at the race the other day!” arthur finally realised who they were talking about “ohhhh, kimi! i told you he had a crush on amelie” he retorted “well, you didn't tell us she liked him back!” charles exclaimed “well i didn't know!” arthur said in the same tone “you're more likely to know than me, she doesn't talk to me about those things, she talks to you!” arthur accused, now glaring as well. “oh well, guess neither of us knew.” lorenzo shrugged.

“it's insane how much she has grown, don't you think?” charles said after a few seconds of silence. “she's a proper young lady now” lorenzo agreed. arthur sighed as she saw her arriving back to the building through the window, holding kimi’s hand. “it is insane” he smiled softly. “dad would be proud of her, and jules would be overreacting about kimi” charles chuckled, imagining how the scene would happen. “he was really protective over her, i can't imagine what he would think seeing her right now” lorenzo smiled. “they would be really fucking proud.” arthur said, smiling fondly at the thought.

everytime amelie had the chance to go to one of her brother's races, she was the happiest person ever. she rarely got to go because of school or different issues, but now that she was on summer break, she would be stuck to the hip of whichever one of her brothers was willing to take her with him.

 this weekend, the lucky guy was none other than arthur leclerc. she packed her stuff and took a plane to italy, where she would be staying for a while.

  after a very emotive airport pick up -note the sarcasm- , arthur notified her that they would be going to prema to spend the day, as it was media day and he had to be there “because if not the video wouldn't be funny.” 

when they arrived at prema, everyone greeted her rather enthusiastically, except this one particular boy who she had never met before.

 he was handsome, almost dreamy. he had very smooth, pale skin and messy brown hair. he wasn't tall, but she was pretty short so he was fairly taller than her.  

“uhm, hi, im kimi antonelli'' he introduced himself shyly, and she thought she was going to melt in the spot at the sound of his italian accent. “amelie leclerc, nice to meet you” she smiled brightly, trying to get him to loosen up a little. of course, the moment had to be ruined by arthur, who loudly awed and basically screamed “look at the children having crushes” before running away from a very embarrassed amelie.

  later that day, amelie found herself in a random room, watching the guys -and hamda- record what seemed to be a truth or dare challenge. arthur had already filmed his part but decided to leave her there while he went to do some “grown up thing” that she knew was calling his girlfriend for his free hour. 

kimi and paul were answering questions and fulfilling dares, and she didn't miss the way kimi would look at her every time he had to do something embarrassing. 

“truth or dare?” paul asked the younger boy “truth” he answered “who in this room would you kiss and why?” kimi looked like he had just been asked the worst question in the universe “no, another one” he was looking everywhere but amelie and was red as a tomato “mate, you have to answer” paul was enjoying that way too much. 

“uhm, i- i don't know, there is only one girl my age” kimis voice was barely audible, so paul made him repeat it “sorry? i didn't hear you” kimi rolled his eyes, took a deep breath and decided to show confidence, even if it was fake. “amelie, because she is very pretty.” and that, ladies and gentlemen, is how amelie marie elizabeth leclerc died.

  they continued the challenge as if nothing had happened, because nothing had really happened. 

at the end of the challenge, kimi went straight over to amelie “i'm sorry if that was weird” he apologised, and it sounded so sincere amelie almost hugged him “hey, that's all right, i would have said the same thing” that took the boy completely by surprise, as his cheeks went bright red “oh, okay” she chuckled before hearing her brother calling her name “seems like i have to go, i really hope to see you around, kimi” she pecked his cheek before walking away, leaving avery flustered kimi who was most of all surprised at how good his name sounded when she said it.

“kimi antonelli was a promising young boy. at 15, he was already racing for prema and winning races left and right. sure, he might not be the most sociable or famous one of the team, but he sure as hell had the talent to succeed. his shyness came from all the time he had spent racing instead of going out to make friends, and it did make it a little harder for him to loosen up, but it was never to the extent where he couldn't talk to people. amelie found it funny how he was shy outside the track, because when he was inside the car or standing on the podium he showed a confidence that many wished to have. his pretty brown eyes shimmered, and his brown locks stuck out everywhere, giving him that beautiful boyish look that amelie had liked so much. oh, and don't even mention his way of talking, because everytime he would say anything with that pretty little accent of his amelie would feel like melting.”
