Sketches from my Anubis and Persephone au. Their symbols show on their body when they’re mad, but I thought it would be cool that they also wear their symbols as ethereal crowns when addressing the mortals. I had a hard time coming up with Kebechet because her symbols are water or a snake so I made the cobra look like a jug to carry water in!

Overview - History and Mythos
Kebechet is the deification of embalming liquid and has her origins in the Pyramid Texts as the serpent who "refreshes and purifies the pharaoh." Her main role was to provide water and care to the spirits waiting for their mummification to be complete. It is also thought that she played a vital role in the reviving of the soul. A passage written by Richard W. Wilkinson, cited by Joshua J. Mark in his article "Qebhet" on the World History Encyclopedia website, reads that she "refreshes and purifies the heart of the deceased monarch with pure water from four nemset jars and that the goddess helped open the 'windows of the sky' to assist the king's resurrection." She is mentioned frequently in the Book of the Dead.
She was originally a serpent deity worshiped along Nile cities, often recognized as the "celestial serpent" that ruled over both day and night, and the Nile. She never had a very large cult following, but her role has been observed in religious holidays that celebrate the living and the dead such as in the Festival of Wadi which took place between harvest time and the Nile flood. It encouraged the living and the dead to commune.
Kebechet is most known to be the daughter of Anpu (Anubis) and his wife Anput, and helps Anpu in his role as the god of embalming by caring for the dead, purifying them, and fortifying the body against corruption. Her symbolic role may have been to comfort the living that their loved ones are cared for even in death, as well as to encourage care and compassion between the living as they would the dead.
She can be called upon for practices of purification of the body and mind, as well as provide gentle care and company for those dearly departed.

Contrary to popular belief, anubis isn’t any super great dad, but at least his trying (unlike a certain square ear father) . He has a habit of forgetting his children are children and often refers to them as it, the things, and little monsters.
He does end up murdering his wife for banging their brothers (who could of seen that coming) which sends him into a identity crisis about being just like his father, and than makes it a mission to be a better papi to his two kids.
This cursed shit is how imagine him telling Anput he washed Kebechet

Two more character designs for two more goddesses in the Small Gods universe. Those two will definitively appear in the comic at some point, as they have a very special connection to one of our main three gods. Look them up, you´ll be suprised!

still working on some more gods/goddesses idol
I decided to have Idol Anubis actually is raising a family so i went about designing their daughter first. I put stars and snakes on their outfit as whats associated with Kebechet. Kebechet is not an idol just accompanies Anubis during shows. most important job they really have is making sure they have water and snacks during/after shows. Really just to keep Kebechet busy as to not wander off.

Netkheru reptiles III

In Tales of Grandier,
Reapers are a very important part of the cycle of life and death. They are a species of demons that can interact and collect souls. They are responsible for transporting and delivering them to places of afterlife.
They are usually pretty tall with a dead appearance. Their hair is white and their eyes are pale. But besides these basic details, their appearance can greatly vary.
Most reapers have a weapon they use to collect souls. Others may use a spell to do so. Either way, these methods of collection are unique to each reaper. They use soul magic in order to summon their weapon of choice. They are also capable of transporting themselves instantly to their target soul to make their jobs easier.
Originally, there was only two main reapers. But as the population of the world got bigger, there was too much death to handle. Therefore, Lucifer took it upon himself to create more reapers to help ease the originals' burden.
•°•°•°•°•°•°
The first reaper is the Grim Reaper. He is by far the oldest, save for his Father. He is in charge with collecting souls around his territory. He takes care of the northern parts of Grandier. His weapon of choice is a scythe with a wooden handle. He is also capable of using soul magic to make a special brew of alcohol, which he's quite fond of. Supposedly, it gets him drunk faster, as he is a massive man.
He takes his job very seriously, and spends most of his time on it. However, he does enjoy leisure during the rare moments of peace in the world. A good meal and drink is enough to satisfy him. He's particularly fond of meat, any meat except duck. He loves ducks, but only when they're alive.
•°•°•°•°•°•
The second reaper is Malice. She takes pride in her youthful appearance, even though she can't really age. Her weapon of choice are sewing pins. They aren't the most useful when it comes to reaping souls. However, they are far more effective in torture. Her job is to deal with corrupt sinners who are far too gone to redeem themselves. Using her pins, she can manipulate souls in a very painful manner. She's a bit sadistic because of her line of work, but she's pretty sweet outside of it. She has more time on her hands than Grim, which she spends on cute things and fashion.
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
Kebechet was the first reaper to be manufactured by Lucifer. She is technically a slave to him, as a contract was what gave her new abilities. Who she was before was wiped from history, as only the reaper remains. Kebechet's weapon of choice is smoke, which she creates from cigarettes and cigars. She can create spells and curses to wipe out whole groups of people during times of tragedy. Instead of going through a battlefield, Kebechet can use a spell to lead the area of souls into the afterlife.
This is a rare occurrence, so Kebechet has a lot of time on her hands as well. She's kind enough to take care of the east's dead or anywhere else when Grim needs a break. She also took care of Grim's son when he was born.
•°•°•°•°•
The third reapers are Chrysanthemum. They were created to collect souls who died alone. They were often too far away from others, so it was a hassle to reap them. Chrysanthemum entertains souls in their final moments, as they find that it makes the job easier. Their weapon of choice is instruments.

💀 You always were committed to your family, from watching over your siblings, Horus and Anubis, to trying to help out your uncles, Set and Khepri, you were always there to help them out
💀 It was because of your willingness to help that lead you to offer your assistance to Anubis, your twin brother, in leading the many dying humans to the underworld and getting them fully settled
💀 It was because of this that you had met your future husband, Hades, the Greek God of the Underworld and the King of Helheim
💀 When you had taken both your brother's and your shifts one day, due to him getting slightly ill from no doubt doing something stupid, you had learned from your helper, and niece, Kebechet, that you had a meeting with the King
💀 During your meeting, Hades thought to himself about how similar you appeared to his ally-in-work, and he learned from your introduction that you were the Deity of the Soul, meaning you would watch over and mold someone's soul correctly before they came to life, and you would take them down alongside your brother
💀 Hades may not inherently like how your brother acts, but whenever you look at him with big puppy-dog eyes, his heart melts
💀 You mainly became close due to your jobs working together and gossiping about your families (the Greek and Egyptian Pantheons), you now know a lot more about Poseidon and Zeus
💀 You and Hades eventually began to court one another a few centuries after your first meet, which in a God's life is like knowing somebody for around a few months, depending on the amount
💀 Due to how close you had gotten, you wanted Hades to meet your parents, Osiris and Nephthys. And he always reacted the same; maybe after you meet mine first
💀 Respecting his wishes, you had met Hades' family on a number of occasions, your most memorable being when Zeus tried hitting on you, but before his sons could pull him back to reality, Hades grabbed his ear and scolded him like a mother would. Though he did also glare at him with nothing in his eyes... maybe that was why he almost pissed his toga...
💀 And over time, your requests began to get more frequent. So, respecting your wishes as well, Hades agreed to meet your family, much to you and your brother's delight
💀 You hopped that this would go perfectly, but hope doesn't always work out...
" You're kidding me. " " Osiris! Be nice. I apologize for my husband's harsh words, Hades. I'm Nephthys, Y/N, Horus, and Anubis' mother, it's so nice to have you here. Oh, by the way, Y/N, the rest of the main family is coming by soon. " " Including Uncle Set and Uncle Khepri? " " Yes. Now come, I must show you how he redesigned your room. "
💀 Hades watched as you walked away with your mother, smiling gently as you groaned and you slide your upper-jackal head mask down to cover your burning cheeks as your mother ranted
" So, what are you planning to do with my youngest, huh? "
💀 Your husband's eyes widened as your father pointed his Shepard's crook at his neck. His green skin clashing with the gold and wooden item
" Apologies, but I do now quite understand what you mean by 'doing with them'. " " Are you gonna hurt them like Zeus hurts Hera? After all, you do have the same genetics. "
💀 Hades had to resist grabbing Osiris' crook and snapping it into splinters with his hands. Instead, he took a deep breath and lightly nudged the item away from his neck and began looking at you across the room with hearts in his eyes as he spilled said organ's love and devotion out to his Father-in-Law
" Osiris, your youngest is by-far the most spectacular person I have ever met in my many centuries of living. In both physical appearance and how their personality and beyond is, they just... they just feel so right to have by my side, you know? I cannot stand the mere thought of laying harm to her, mental of physical. It makes my stomach plummet to the depths of my immortal soul. Seeing them happy and smiling on the other hand? That is one thing I would never change nor rid myself of for the world. "
💀 Looking up and down at Hades and contemplating his words, Osiris sighed deeply and held his crook lighter than before as a smile slightly covered his face before it turned into a teasing yet dangerous scowl
" I shall allow you and my child to prosper in your love for one another longer. But, know this, you hurt them, I will dispose of you like how we do here in Egypt. Understood? " " Completely, Father. " " Don't call me that. "

Anubis Deity Guide
Tumblr media
Who is Anubis?
Depicted as a being with the body of a man and the head of a jackal, Anubis is the Egyptian god of the dead. He is also the god of mummification, lost souls, and the helpless. Anubis is one of the oldest gods of ancient Egypt and was possibly derived from the older jackal god Wepwawet, as the two are often conflated.
Due to his role as god of the dead and afterlife, he also held domain over justice and has been depicted holding scales to determine the “weight” of the person’s soul.

Notes
The name “Anubis” is the Greek form of the Egyptian name “Anpu” which means to decay.
The Greeks associated Anubis with Hermes, the Greek god who guided the dead to the afterlife. The two would be joined together to create Hermanubis, making him more accessible to non-Egyptians.
He was also worshiped in Greece on the island of Delos.
Anubis was said to be the creator of embalming.
His epithet “god of the westerners” means “god of the dead” as the Egyptian term for departed souls was “westerners”. This was because it was said that the afterlife was towards the west, the direction of the sunset.
Anubis was often depicted as a black Jackal or other canine or as a human with the head of a black jackal/canine. The black coloring was likely a nod to the discoloration of a dead body as well as the fertile silt of the Nile.
Anubis was regularly invoked for protection as well as vengeance.
The center of Anubis’ cult was set in Cynopolis, or “the city of the dog” but there were shrines sprinkled throughout all of Egypt.
There is a place that was known as Anubeion, where a shrine and a cemetery of mummified dogs and jackals were discovered east of Saqqara.
Originally Anubis’ father was Ra, though as Osiris gained popularity Anubis’ story got mixed up and he became the son of Osiris and Nephthys. In this later story, Nephthys tricked Osiris into having sex with her and became pregnant with Anubis who she soon abandoned for fear that her husband, Set, would find out about the affair. Osiris’ wife, Isis, found Anubis and adopted him.
In other stories, Anubis was said to be the son of Set or Bastet.
