The better part of a muscular chest was prominently on display thanks to a plunging neckline, two tattooed birds on the man’s pecs drawing Louis’ eyes unbidden, not to mention the writing on the shirt - “Lil Monster’s Daddy”. To say that Louis suffered from visual over-stimulation was putting it mildly. And the other man knew it if the slight smirk and watchful gaze, monitoring every hitch in Louis’ breath and twitch of his body, was anything to go by. *** Or the one where wizard Louis gets to experience his first Muggle Halloween and gets more than he dared to hope for in the form of Muggle Harry dressing up as his literal wank fantasy, making it Louis' best Halloween ever.

A Place in the Sun - harriet_vane - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] – 40k, M – summer camp AU. I've been putting off reading this one for a while because it's harriet vane, whose fics are always so wonderful that I wanted to keep one in my back pocket (and, as a Brit, summer camps aren't my go-to AU anyway). But I succumbed. And, of course, it's amazing.

Something That Scares Me About Love - justyrae - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] @astorytotellyourfriends – 51k, E – canon compliant/divergence, immediately post-band, alcohol abuse, angst up the wazoo. A bit of a different take on polyamory and I really appreciated reading it! Very well written, of course. This author is always a good bet.

Genuinely hilarious, wonderful dialogue, accidentally-sort-of-competent coven 1D and Louis as a fox. It's just great.

It's truly a story of two halves, and both are executed beautifully. Tension, domestic bliss, hurt/comfort, an inspired use of Zayn – wonderful.

Even Christmas Can't Compete with Your Glow - QuickedWeen - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] @becomeawendybird – 4k, M – Christmas parties, pining, werewolves. So sweet. It's not that long but I was so ROOTING for them. Completely in it. Ride or die for these two.

To Will, To Wander, To Want, To Wonder - LadyLondonderry - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] @londonfoginacup – 5k, T – royalty AU, fantasy AU, omegaverse. Such an interesting mood to this fic, and really wonderful details, as always from this writer :D

Three Days in February - mercurial-madhouse (writing_practice) - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] @mercurial-madhouse– 188k, E – magical realism, canon, friends to lovers, slow burn. AO3 seems to have eaten the comment I left for this one but it was mainly flailing. So well written, so engrossing, I lived in this world for more than three days in February (timing purely coincidental) and it was great.

Sisterwives - jaerie - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] @jaerie – 32k, E – omegaverse, religious polygamy, check the tags/warnings. This fic was just really interesting? It's different to most things I would usually read, but I enjoyed it a lot. The development of the Larry relationship was great; the closeness, the domesticity, the holding on to one thing. Yes.

Love's On The Line, Is That Your Final Answer? - PearlyDewdrops - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] @moonhusbands – 53k, E – fake relationship, uni AU, grew up together AU. So they're pretending so they can win money on a 'how well do you know your spouse' TV show, right? I mean, that's all you need to know. I'm am THERE for that kind of set-up. And then it's wonderfully written as well, with lots of hate to love, and gorgeous pining.
