He played football at Athens High School and you’re going to see that to this day he still represents his school whenever he can.

The he moved to Ohio State University but didn’t get many chances to become the starting QB there, so after graduation he moved to LSU where he became a college football legend hehe

He won the national championship with LSU playing with Jamarr Chase (who now is also at the Bengals) and Justin Jefferson (now playing at the Vikings).

He was the number 1 pick overall in the 2020 draft but unfortunately he suffered a season-ending injury in his rookie year at the NFL.

He recovered and came back in 2021 leading the Bengals to the Super Bowl, in which the Bengals suffered a narrow defeat to the Rams.

The current season was a very tough one. He suffered a calf injury, missed training camp and wasn’t fully recovered in the first few games. Then last month against the Ravens he suffered another season-ending injury and is currently out.

As for his personality, he’s very quiet, very private about his personal life. He used to be more open and spontaneous during his college career but that changed once he got to the NFL.

But all of his team-mates describe him as a resilient, kind and calm person. His mom has said several times that he’s shy and he doesn’t really enjoy being a celebrity, but he understands it comes with the job.

He seems to be super nerdy and goofy, loves Star Wars, Marvel movies, TV shows like The Office and Sponge Bob. He’s also into fashion and is always rocking som very cool game day outfits, and also LOVES UFC.

He has a foundation which focus on mental health and food insecurity. He had this beautiful speech when he won the Heisman trophy that triggered major donations to help out kids and families struggling with food insecurity, I recommend watching it.

though her parents worked long hours, there was no lack of love in the houston household. it never really bothered malika growing up, besides there was always the company of her siblings. to this day, she credits her parents for the work ethic she has today. a daddy's girl from the day she was born. and a mother who always encouraged her to pursue her passions. from a young age, malika was taught the manners of a southern lady. like most southern girls she did pageants, but could also be found playing outside in the dirt with the boys.

as a kid, she was put into dance classes as an way to channel all the energy she had into something productive and fun. ever since then, malika fell in love with dance and hasn't looked back. she's studied many different styles of dance over the years - jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, and even some ballet. it wasn't long before she traded the pageants for dance competitions.

the first move to atlanta happened when she was eight years old. it took a little time to adjust but it wasn't bad. malika was a pretty easy going kid, could get along with most people. dance helped her to make new friends. six years later, the houston's packed up and moved again. this time to ohio when she was thirteen. it was a bit more difficult for her to leave her friends and the life she knew. she didn't want to go and made that known with pre-teen dramatics. throughout every big change in her life, dance was the one thing that was constant. and family.

after graduating high school, malika attended julliard. an accomplishment she had only dreamed of for so many years that had become a reality. moving to new york was the first major life decision she experienced on her own. it was the last time she moved, and she wasn't planning on doing so again. once she finished college, she settled in queens where she was a dance teacher, she taught young kids and the older teens as well. she auditioned and did a couple tours as a back up dancer for various singers here and there. it wasn't until she was hired to choreograph a music video for a huge artist that her name really started to be known and sought after. with the money earned from several high profile jobs, she now lives on the upper east side. she still enjoys teaching, although it's became more on the side than when she first started. one of her goals is to open her own studio someday.

upon first meeting, malika can sometimes come off a bit distant. she's always been that way with each move during her childhood. it just takes her some time to warm up to new people. she doesn't open up to just anybody. but once she does let you in, she's a great friend to have in your corner. she is dedicated to her craft, but also loves to have a good time with friends. she worked hard to get where she is, after all. damn if she won't enjoy it. she's close with her family, especially her older brother. while she is doing quite well for herself, she is happy to be able to do what she loves without being super famous to the general public. it grants her privacy and a sense of normalcy a bit more than that of some of her peers.

NFL Week 10

The Wideouts came to play this past weekend. Watching the Minnesota Vikings come back to beat the Buffalo Bills had me jumping with excitement and going crazy on Sunday. For what Justin “The Man” Jefferson did when the game was on the line is nothing short of spectacular. I’m sure most fans thought the corner-route pass thrown by Kirk Cousins was picked off and game was over…until Jefferson rolled over with the ball shifting from his right palm into his left arm as the pass was completed. The next play Jefferson ran a dig-route and took a hit securing the catch at about the 3-yard line. In overtime he caught another sweet catch on the same corner route at the end of regulation. Of course Mr. Jefferson takes home the WOW award. He finished the afternoon with 10 catches for 193 yards and 1 touchdown. His team secured the victory as well against a formidable Buffalo Bills.

On the opposite side was another dangerous wideout who goes by “Him.” All world wideout Stefon Diggs put on a show himself. Diggs did not find the end zone Sunday but he didn’t leave the field without having an eye dropping catch. Toward the end of the 3rd quarter, QB Josh Allen scrambled out the pocket right and fired a dart to Diggs who jumped up catching a 1-hand pass for a 25-yard gain. The next play he shook the corner and caught a slant where he broke a few tackles for the 20 yard completion. He’s currently number 3 in total yards with 857 and added to that total with 128 yards and 12 catches. I’m loving the way Stefon has played this season.

Ceedee Lamb sometimes plays like the baby sheep his last name implies and at other times he’s the grown version of that sheep. Against the Green Bay Packers, Lamb caught 11 of 15 balls for 150 yards and 2 Touchdowns. Lamb will make an incredible catch and usually drops the easy ones. Since Dak Prescott has returned his targets and production have gone up. I believe the Cowboys are using him in the backfield to increase his confidence by getting him the ball against guys who can’t cover. I’m all for whatever works as long as he continues to get better.

I believe this is the second week in a row that Terry McLaurin’s name has made this blog. Against one of the better defenses in the NFL (Eagles) McLaurin had a big day. Eagles corner Darius Slay was getting his ass whooped up and down the field. One play in particular was a beautiful release where McLaurin jabbed outside causing Slay to jump hard outside and stumble while he released inside catching a 45-yard go-route. Terry caught a bunch of slants and had another dope release on a corner route he caught near the end of the 2nd quarter. 8 catches for 128 yards is one hell of a game to beat the undefeated Eagles…Keep it up kid.

Davante Adams is top 3 in the NFL when it comes to press releases. On a simple quick out he tore the DB ass up and finished with an acrobatic one-hand catch for a 5 yard gain. He then lines up inside and does the same thing on an 5 yard in-route against #58 of the Indianapolis Colts. Adams toyed with the backer all game. Early in the 4th Adams broke free on a 48-yard dig to score his lone touchdown.

I’m glad a kid I once coached made the top wideouts of the week blog. Amon-Ra St. Brown finished the afternoon with 10 catches for 119 yards. I like how he’s being utilized in the run game to get him more touches. The Detroit Lions have a solid receiving core. St. Brown catches passes from the backfield, slot, and even receives handoffs. It appears teams in the league are copying what San Francisco does with Deebo Samuel and what the Atlanta Falcons have done with Cordarrelle Patterson. Line up your top athlete and utilize him against the teams worst defenders. I’m pushing for Amon-Ra to stay healthy so he could follow-up his rookie campaign with another 1,000 yard season.

To conclude this weeks 100-yard performers are two names I’ve never heard of. Had it not been for the game Justin Jefferson had; Christian Watson of the Green Bay Packers would have been the wideout of the week. The rookie from North Dakota State had an hat-trick scoring 3 times against the Dallas Cowboys. The 6’5 wideout is a blazer. He blew by the corner on his first touchdown for a 58-yard bomb from Aaron Rodgers and scored the games final touchdown on a play action over-route to tie the game…eventually leading to his team kicking a field-goal to win. Christian Kirk caused havoc against the Kansas City Chiefs catching 9 passes for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns. The contract he received sure seems to be paying off for the talented wideout. Lastly is the other wideout I had never heard of. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine of the Tennessee Titans had an impressive afternoon. His first touchdown was a nice toe-tapping catch in the left end zone. Nick then caught a 64-yard flea flicker making a Broncos defender miss a tackle has he scored his second touchdown of the day. He finished the game with 5 catch for 119 yards and 2 TD’s.

Another week to be great wideouts…let’s go, keep grinding, finish strong, and ball to the wheels fall.

LOVE IT!

I woke up early this morning, before 6 am. Work stuff, kid’s sick, whatever. But then I couldn’t really get back to sleep. So I headed out to the bathroom, and on the way, I thought I’d check and see if I landed the New York Football Giants Defense and Special Teams unit that I’d put a waiver wire claim on the night before. Turned on my computer, and guess what? I did land those NY Football Giants![1]

But then I saw something else. And that something else is truly a top 5 moment for me this season. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Matt Ryan Week Seven OMFG Bidding War:

Ironically this all happened about 24 hours before the Moved On From Matt Ryan Bowl between Dan Romans and myself kicks off. As I am sure everyone remembers, I traded Michael Carter, RB for the Jets, for Matt Ryan after week 1.[2] But then I signed the Other Prince Who Was Promised Kenny Pickett ahead of Week 5, which caused me to bench Matt Ryan. And then I watched the Colts play the Broncos on TNF and saw the Corpse formally known as Matt Ryan actually play a football game. Frankly watching a Matt Ryan that I had just benched was one of the prouder moments I’ve had this year, because Matt Ryan looked like the worse QB in the league. He threw 0 TDs, 2 picks, got sacked 6 times, and fumbled twice. So I dropped Matt Ryan.

But then Matt Ryan dropped 31 points week 6. He was 42/58(!) for 389 yards and had 3 TDs and no interceptions last week against the Jags.[3]

The waiver wire is tough.[4] And QBs are scarce. Listen, the Mighty Boom started Skylar Thompson last week in a disaster. And the Falcons QB room makes Ian look like he’s a serial killer collecting the worst QBs in the NFL: He’s got Mac Jones, Cooper Rush and Justin Fields. He’s previously started Baker Mayfield, so Matty Ice would have been a big get for Ian. And you gotta play one QB, you kind of got to play two, right?

But Matt Ryan? I only really listen to one fantasy football podcast. And when they talked about streaming QBs this week, they mentioned Matt Ryan’s Jags line. And they said to pay no attention to that line, because they’ve seen Matt Ryan play football just like I have. It doesn’t mean anything.

Good luck Boom. Anyways, here are some things on Amazon I found that are much better uses for $569:[5]

[1] I need the Giants because the steady eddy D/St unit I’d signed a few weeks before (Fly Mighty Eagles Fly) are on a bye this week. I really like this Eagles unit and I really really don’t want to drop them. It’s always a struggle to fill out the bottom of your lineup, your TE, D, and K, and I think I’ve finally got the Jesus’s bottom all figured out: Ertz, Eagles & Buttkicker. But that puts me in IR roster hell. If James Connor (currently on IR and now officially questionable) is healthy, he’s gotta go in my starting 10 because BOTH Cooper Kupp and Justin Jefferson are on bye, and my only other two rostered wideouts (SHOUTOUT BERRIOS) are kind of emergency staring this week. James Connor is playing Thursday, along with Jameis Winston, also on my roster, maybe playing probably not but also probably not “out.” If Conner is ruled out before TNF I’m good, I can keep him in the IR, and move the Giants to the starting 10. But if he’s a go, I gotta both play him and cut somebody else. The decision gets much more difficult if Jameis is a go too and he starts. (Last week he was healthy enough to be a back-up a-la Teddy Two Gloves? WTF). Anyways, IR bye week stuff, amirite? Keep your eyes on my roster for updates to this ever-developing situation.

[2] BTW still kinda think I might of won that trade. Dano started Carter week 2, he score 10 points, but Carter hasn’t started for Dano since (scoring 5.6, 4.9, 17.3 on the bench). Meanwhile Breece Hall is the clear front runner in the Jets backfield. Matt Ryan started 3 games for me before getting dropped, and two of those starts were fairly effective: 17.5 in week 3 and 21.4 in week 4. He score 3 point fucking 8 points for me week 3. But if Carter never sees the field again for Dan, then I’m still counting this trade as a win for me.

[3] Another reason I went for the Giants, they’re playing the Jags, who finally look like a real Jags team.

[4] I paid over $200 for Taysom Hill (verses absolutely no one it turns out) only to cut him a week after, but then he goes off again, so Odouls pays over $400 for him, starts him, and he scores 4 points. Taysom Hill is a tough nut to crack.

[5] Dan signing Andy Dalton for free this morning as a free agent was the best move of the last 12 hours. There is, what, a better than even chance Andy Dalton scores more points than Matt Ryan this week?

The AMP (Arkansas Music Pavilion) has well known bands/artists every year. There is a Botanical Gardens. Believe it or not, we still have a drive-in theatre which plays current movies and is lots of fun. There is also a retro-arcade, bowling, skating rink, Locomotion (go karts, arcade, mini-golf), Gater Golf (mini-golf), several area Golf courses that are very nice, museums, and lots more. Outdoors: We are right next to the Ozark National Forrest, Beaver Lake, the Buffalo River, White River, Mulberry River, Devil’s Den state park, the Ozark Highlands Trail (218 miles through seven counties), caving, rock climbing, hand gliding, scuba diving in Beaver lake, and countless more to do. There is an excellent paved trail system that stretches from south of Fayetteville to the Missouri border with lots of parks and side trails along the way. Everywhere you turn there is hiking, biking, canoeing, geocaching, etc. Enough to never be bored. That, the legendary prediction from Joe Namath just days before Super Bowl III. His Jets were 18-point underdogs to the Baltimore Colts. No one game them a chance. Namath’s bold words rocked the sports media and made him an object of ridicule. His confident words even irked some of his coaches and teammates.

Then, Namath and the Jets upset the mighty Colts, convincingly.

Backing it up

What is it about trash talking bulletin board material that riles us so?

Jaire Alexander made many people, his coaches and teammates included I’ll bet, uncomfortable last week when he said the Vikings Justin Jefferson’s week 1 explosion against the Packers was a “fluke.” When you look at Jefferson’s historic season and contrast it with how underwhelming Alexander and the Packers defense has been, it seemed absurd. Like an empty chirp from a cocky player.

Then, Alexander and company held the uber-talented Jefferson to the arguably worst game of his career.

Walking the walk

The cherry on top of his shut down performance was stealing Jefferson’s “griddy” dance after a pass break-up. The guess here is he’ll be fined for that, but you have to ask why? NFL players get to do all sorts of celebrating and “acting the fool,” after a touchdown, why not for a big play at midfield? I digress.

As a kid, I loved bigger than life athletes like Namath and Muhammed Ali who made bold brags that pissed people off. Then they’d shut them up doing just what they said they would. Nothing silences a critic like backing up bold words with substance.

The Packers made Alexander the highest paid corner in NFL history last winter. For most of 2022 he hasn’t lived up to the salary. On Sunday he led and epic beat down of great rival. That’s bulletin board material you can get behind.

Great games v great players

After the game he challenged critics who called him a “good” corner, saying no, he’s a great corner. Being a great corner means doing it every Sunday, not just for a big game. Alexander needs to stack numerous games like his shutdown of Jefferson to bring substance to his words. Being not just good, but great, needs to continue Sunday night against Detroit.

And she went a lot. We would walk and look into the department store windows and see the toys and moving elves that the kids saw in the movie. Like Ralphie, I would get mom to order things for me from the comics, neat little gadgets they advertised.

NFL Week 3

This wideout shit is getting out of control. This week we had 15 wideouts that reached the century mark. We also have some big names making their way to the blog this season. Without further ado…

Keenan Allen is a man amongst boys. Right now Allen makes the game look really easy. The chargers have used Allen in the slot more than I’ve ever seen. And it’s definitely paying off. Allen caught 18 balls for 215 yards with zero scores. And now that counterpart Mike Williams is injured, I expect Allen to continue putting the weight on his back and carrying the team.

Davante Adams takes home the WOW (wideout of the week) award. It’s refreshing to see Adams have the type of performance he’s capable of having each week. Davante finished his night with 13 catches for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns. Adams dominated all over the field to make his first appearance of the year.

Tyreek Hill is amazzzing!!! Hill cannot be guarded 1on 1. Agains the Denver Broncos Hill was up to his usual shenanigans. Hill caught 9 passes for 157 yards and 1 tub. Hill continues to obliterate angles. And although he left Patrick Mahomes 2 seasons ago, Hill’s production has steadily increased and I believe if not Justin Jefferson, Tyreek is another wideout who can eclipse the daunting 2000 yards in a season.

Mama…Their goes that man! Justin Jefferson is a beautiful thing to watch. I love the way he’s playing right now. And I’m even more impressed by his run after catch. He’s dominating the field in every aspect of the game. Against the Los Angeles Chargers Mr. Jefferson caught 7 passes for 159 yards and 1 touchdown.

Another name I have never heard of had himself quite the performance. Nathaniel “Tank” Dell absolutely destroyed defenders on his way to a rookie break out performance. Catching 5 balls for a whopping 145 yards and 1 touchdown. Dell most definitely caught my eye and I’m glad the kid had his first 100-yard game in the NFL.

Adam Thielen is a name I have not heard called in at least two years. Glad the kid is still able to put up big numbers making his first appearance on the wideouts4life blog. That boy Adam pulled his old bag of tricks out on his way to an 11-catch, 145-yard, 1 touchdown performance.

Ja’Marr Chase Your Dreams has not started the year like he would like. As he put it after the game against the Rams, “I’m always fucking open.” Sounds like a true wideout. I remember in college saying the same shit every play to never get the ball thrown my way. Chase caught 12 balls for 141 yards with zero scores. I’m hopeful Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals play callers get this young lion the ball. Wideout fans like to see the wideouts ball.

AJ Brown is a dog. I know when watching tape of Mr. Brown, he’s going to give everything he has to give. After not contributing to the Eagles as he would have liked too. AJ Brown caught 9 passes for 131 yards. Brown did not score but every yard he earned helped the eagles beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

No introduction is need when a name like Deebo Samuel is mentioned. And as I write this blog, looking at the names above, I’m ecstatic because for the next decade I will get the chance to witness some of the greatest wideouts to ever play the game. You have to be a man to play for the San Francisco 49ers. They run so many fucking slants, it’s ridiculous. Deebo scored on a beautiful go-route thrown by Brock Purdy ending his night with 6 catches for 129 yards.

It sucks that on a great day that Mike Williams was having. His knee got twisted in an awkward position leading to the young man tearing his ACL. Williams is out for the season. But prior to the injury Williams caught 7 passes for 121 yards and scored on trick play from fellow wideout Keenan Allen.

Amari Cooper is like fine wine. He just keeps getting better with age. I still standby the point Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe that Cooper does turn it on and off. But maybe that isn’t a bad thing. It definitely lures defensive backs to sleep. Amari still is the best on press release and it’s not even close. Cooper almost made a guy fall on a sweet fade route he hauled in finishing his afternoon with 7 catches for 116 yards and 1 touchdown.

DK Metcalf is a physical specimen. His route running is not great. And that’s ok, Terrell Owens wasn’t a route runner but he damn sure made plays. As I watch more and more film Metcalf reminds me of the hall of fame wideout. He catches better than T.O and for sure is faster as well. Against the Panthers Metcalf caught 6 passes for 112 yards helping secure the victory for the Seahawks.

Stefon Diggs is one of my favorite wideouts to watch. One pet peeve of mines is when wideouts make a routine catch against zone coverage and get up with the shenanigans. Against the Washington Commanders Diggs caught 8 passes for 112 yards. I feel he needs to do more because there are two hogs in Justin Jefferson and Tyreek Hill battling for the NFL’s top wideout spot.

Ohio State and Alabama have put out tons of the wideouts who are really good as of the recent 5 years. One of those wideouts Chris Olave an Ohio State product just keeps on producing. Olave had a sweet one-hand catch up the right sideline that was ridiculous. Olave finished his night with 8 catches for 104 yards. For a 2nd year player, Olave checks all the boxes and I can only imagine his game will continue to get better.

Last man to reach the century mark this weekend is none other than Amon-Ra St. Brown. Against the Atlanta Falcons, St Brown was a nuisance. St. Brown hauled in 9 passes for 102 yards placing him at #5 in receiving yards.

Another week of wideouts balling out. 15 wideouts catching for at least 100-yards is a record. Im ecstatic to see if we can eclipse this feat once again during the season. A lot of writing but well worth it. Wideouts Let’s Go!
