The erasure of Andi Mack makes me so sad as someone who watched it as it was airing. I understand the show had issues regarding a Certain Actor, but it still makes me really sad for the people who worked on it. And because the show is such a gem. I want to write about Andi Mack in general one day, but because it's pride month I want to briefly talk about the show through that lens specifically.

Firstly, Andi Mack has so many episodes missing on Disney+ AND DisneyNow that it would be impossible to try to watch the series in full by using any of these apps. Until recently, DisneyNow had completely removed Andi Mack from its app, and put it back on with only an incomplete season three and without any of the games that were there originally (like Andi's Texts). This, I'm assuming, has to do with that Certain Actor, but the missing episodes has also made including Cyrus in any pride posts or collections harder than it should be (more on that in a second).

On Disney+, there is a "Pride Collection" which does not include anything Andi Mack related despite Cyrus being the first openly gay main character on Disney Channel. His coming out scenes (plural because of the individual scenes with Buffy, Andi and then Jonah) were extremely prominent not only to real people, but also to Cyrus' character as a whole. Two out of the three episodes where Cyrus comes out - "Hey, Who Wants Pizza?" (season 2, episode 1) | "Cyrus' Bash-Mitzvah!" (season 2, episode 13) | "One in a Minyan" (season 3, episode 11) - are not even available on Disney+, nor are any of them on DisneyNow (sidebar, Andi Mack isn't featured on DisneyNow 's pride section either). What's even more frustrating is that the series finale, "We Were Here", where Cyrus and TJ are confirmed to have mutual feelings for each other, are available on both Disney+ AND DisneyNow, yet it does not feature on either app's pride sections. Cyrus being gay wasn't just implied, he literally says the words "I'm gay" the third time he comes out and the second time he clearly says he has a crush on Jonah. It's not easy to overlook him as gay, and as a character who should be included in those pride collections, so his omission is clearly deliberate.

Even if the coming out episodes weren't featured, at the very least, any episode with Cyrus and TJ after they became friends should count; episodes like "For the Last Time", "The Cake That Takes the Cake", "Mount Rushmore or Less", "Something to Talk A-Boot" and of course the series finale. Surprising no one, only three of the Tyrus episodes I listed (and there are more) are actually on Disney+. I mean, they included a Miraculous episode in the Disney+ "Pride Episodes" collection that had the most minute blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene of Alec in a wig, so why not include any episode at all with TJ and Cyrus? Idk the whole thing is just very frustrating for so many reasons.

Edit: if anyone is interested in putting together a fan collection of art, stories etc etc of Andi Mack or letters detailing what the show meant to you that we could somehow share with Terri Minsky to let her know how much we appreciate her and Andi Mack, please dm me. There has to be some way we can show her that we haven’t forgotten about the show or her. I can always make another post if there’s enough interest to spread the word

think i mentioned this before but i am so happy that kids now hv positive queer media

like for me the first queer person i saw on tv was prob cyrus from andi mack and that was like one of (if not) the first openly queer person in a disney channel show

and back then cuz that was the only openly queer media i had i was honestly confused but yk inference skills and at this time i was prob like just younger than my sister is now

(ngl when cyrus first said “i like jonah” (like the guy at the school) i was like “doesn’t everyone??”)

then obviously when it came to my personal self discovery it was/has been very hard to find the right words for how i feel bc of the communities i’m in irl

like when it came to gender i was so confused for so long and i remember finding the term that fit me and just smiling so hard my cheeks hurt for the next hr or so (i’ve realized not that i’m not so comfy with that term but wtv)

even now i’ve had some issues with being bi cuz of my very little interest in masculinity and just recently thats to this place i’ve found (at least rn) security in my sexual and romantic orientation

now compare that to my younger sister

she has all this queer media around her and has come out to me at such a young age

like she is so good abt peoples pronouns and will point out gender queer representation when she sees it

ex. 1 watching zombies 3 cuz why not and theres a non binary character cuz yk aliens or smth and my dad walks into the living room and a character goes “…they…” and my sister goes “DADDY DID U HEAR THAT THEY” or smth

ex. 2 she got a plant as like a give away thing and she comes up to me and my friends and goes “this is @&£]*% thye use they them pronouns” and yes it’s a plant but yk the lorax spoke for the trees we’re gonna go with it

and she’ll watch shows with queer people (mostly cuz i watch shows with queer people) and join me in the shipping or wtv and just be wholly and completely fine and understand this

that goes to show that if kids hv these resources they will understand it i didn’t grow up with this up she has

now a bit more serious but

my sisters queer is into queer media and yk knows of queer music

and if u know toh (the owl house) u know that early on in the show a character in the show was very much associated with the song little miss perfect so i showed it to her (and obvi ordinary when it came out)

now at one of the first days of school that year she told her class at our catholic school her favorite songs were little miss perfect and ordinary

at this time she didn’t know abt homophobia and i am so glad for it but obvi very religous school with tons of parents who hv more rightist views so i tried to explain to her infront of our parents that there were tons of people who didn’t like queer people at school

it absolutely sucked telling my sister that she had to hide who she is bc some people suck

this is all to say that for the next generation, can we pls make so that they don’t hv to hide who they r for their own safety can we pls make things like being queer more out there so people don’t hv to look everywhere for a place that fits them

my first post

Hey y'all (if there's even anyone reading, idk if the AM Fandom is even still alive lol) there's a new mack in the shack (me)! Fair warning I don't think my work is very good but for whatever reason I still like writing fanfiction. If there is anyone reading this and you want to give me (positive!) feedback it would be greatly appreciated. Idk abt you guys but I miss AM and ik its never coming back and ig I'm okay with that at this point. Anyways ik the andi mack fandom died pretty quickly (I thought we were better than that) and there are many good fics out there that simply got discontinued so in case there's anyone here on Tumblr looking for some fresh AM fics here I am. As far as requests go I'm still very new to Tumblr and thus still figuring things out so as soon as I get the hang of this I hope I can start taking those. Note that again I don't think I'm very good at this but if you like my work or just like reading new AM fics you know where to find me (see what I did there ;)). If and when I do start taking requests know that I'm not a very creative writer so 1. I probably won't do justice to your request, and 2. it might take a while to write, edit, and beta (especially since I don't personally know anyone here on Tumblr lol). If you just want to talk to me about andi mack I can do that too but note that I do have school and a limited amount of screen-time so it might take a while for me to get back to you. last song: Cariño by The Marías. my friend likes it and I randomly decided to pull it up yesterday, and now I’ve kinda been looping it. it’s a relaxing song and it sounds cool, so it’s a good one to have stuck in my head

last film: I’m staying in a different city for summer research right now, and my housing did a pride month screening of Paris Is Burning and The Birdcage last Thursday. I hadn’t seen either one before, but I liked them both a lot - Paris Is Burning is fascinating in terms of the queer history and all the emotion it captured, and The Birdcage is just silly and fun but also weirdly deep, and it has Robin Williams, so that’s cool

currently watching: I’m rewatching Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey so I can finally, finally watch Cosmos: Possible Worlds! I love Cosmos - it always gets me with how they show that scientific discovery is deeply human, plus the whole vibe of cosmic smallness juxtaposed with how much power we actually have to care for our tiny planet

currently reading: ...fanfic, honestly... but actually I picked up Ace: What Asexuality Reveals About Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex by Angela Chen again recently, and I feel like once I get home from my summer stuff I’m going to revisit some of my space and science books. I’ve had Math Without Numbers by Milo Beckman sitting on my shelf since April, so that’s the priority, but I think it’s about time for a re-read of The Martian by Andy Weir, and maybe of The End of Everything (Astrophysically Speaking) by Katie Mack!

current obsession: well I kind of threw myself into the DC comics deep end, so. I finished watching Young Justice last week and now I’m trying to read more comics and organize all the pieces of story ideas in my head. god knows if those’ll ever get on AO3, but I’m hopeful for a couple of them

sorry I meant moira talking to Cain about her past, not her past with him (just realised that was not super clear) and totally agree with everything you said - they need a new team ASAP.

It’s like they’ve given characters such ridiculous storylines or backstories that they are stuck in a rut, like moira can never escape nate now but he’s just like there with no real purpose.. Cain can’t escape bc it’s his son and then that connects into Faith and his hatred for her so it’s like never ending, which almost 3 years later it defo should have. They could have shown Coira relationship rebuild but really haven’t (maybe it’s intentional or due to covid but personally I think they’ve just been neglected) Honestly I really hope they do the Holly/Suzy storyline justice for Moira and Natalie bc both deserve better.

They defo need more everyday moments and wholesomeness (e.g. like remember when characters interacted with their kids not just for drama or when someone did something nice for another character.) Like I think back to old eps and there were these really wholesome family moments that gave you a sense of what each family was like still happens once in a blue moon but most of the time now it’s just like constant bickering all the time.

Ugh...Nate was truly one of their absolute worst decisions. First of all, it was a bad idea, then a badly told story and then he's also the dullest most pointless character. Not to mention it did so much damage to Coira and still is. And it ruined Cain's relationship with Faith and we're still paying for that. And then he had to go and ruin Tracy as a character too. And he's still there just being terrible. I hate him so much. For the havoc he's wreaked. Haha.

I don't think they know what to do with Coira at this point or with couples in general. These three have historically been terrible with couples. They can't write them getting together. They don't know how to write them when they are together. They only know how to give them drama for drama's sake usually. This whole Marlon/Rhona thing is about the only couple thing that's working for me right now. Chaddy are dreadful. Coira are nothing but random drama. Charity and Mack have been either terrible or nothing. Matty and Amy have had maybe five scenes together in a year. Jimmy and Nicola are just off so off screen again I've forgotten they existed and when they were on, it was just to give them terrible pointless drama. Marcus and Ethan are cute and all but they have no substance right now and their getting together was both too fast and too slow in a stop/start way.

I hate these three so much.

In general, they just need to learn balance in their storytelling. We need to see their lives when they're not in mortal peril just as much as we need the big stunt stuff. And not just when they're angry and sniping at each other either. We need to see smaller more every day things and we need to see successes and happy moments as well as the harder stuff.

They just really fail at the family stuff these days in general too. Unless they're using it for bigger drama, we never get to see the parents with their kids. You know, we don't see the Hope twins for like two years and then all of a sudden Cathy is a horrible bully. We've seen the King kids a handful of times in the past couple of years (aside from Carl who got a little highlight last year) so by the time they start trying to integrate Angel and Elliot into the show as actual characters we won't know them at all. And like the whole Cain/Moira/Kyle/Amy/Matty dynamic should make for some interesting every day kind of things but we see none of it unless they're using it to fuel this Cain vs Al nonsense that no one cares about. I mean I know there are plenty of restrictions about kids filming and such but watching a bit of classic, we saw plenty of Robert/Andy/Victoria and Donna and Ollie and Mark etc as kids as teens. And I feel like families don't get that kind of focus these days. And I mean I know there were bigger stories going on there with the parents but we still saw more every day moments going on over a sustained period of time. Now we only get a few scenes here and there and then they disappear again.

I don't know, they're just barreling along towards the 50th anniversary and they think they're building everything up well but they're really not. The show is such a shambles for the most part. Only occasionally do they luck into something good like with Marlon's stroke story.

Matthew Fisher, a founding member of Procol Harum won a High Court battle over who wrote their song '’A Whiter Shade Of Pale’. Fisher who played organ on the 1967 hit had argued he wrote the distinctive organ melody, but Mr Justice Blackburne ruled he was entitled to just 40% of the copyright, (rather than the 50% he was seeking). The court decided lead singer Gary Brooker's input was more substantial and Fisher's claim for back royalties - of up to £1m - was also rejected. For almost 40 years, the song had been credited to lead singer Gary Brooker and lyricist Keith Reid.

1999 - Hank Snow

Canadian Country singer Hank Snow died. 'The Singing Ranger' released over 100 albums and scored more than seventy singles on the Billboard country charts from 1950 until 1980. A regular at the Grand Ole Opry, in 1954 Snow persuaded the directors to allow a new singer by the name of Elvis Presley to appear at the Grand Ole Opry.

1999 - Jimi Hendrix

Readers of UK Guitar magazine voted Noel Gallagher the most overrated guitarist of the millennium. Jimi Hendrix was voted guitarist of the millennium with Nirvana's 'Nevermind' winning best album.

1980 - John Lennon

Twelve days after John Lennon was shot dead in New York City, '(Just Like) Starting Over', which was taken from his Double Fantasy album gave the former Beatle his first ever UK solo No.1 single.

1974 - Joe Walsh

Former James Gang and Barnstorm guitarist Joe Walsh officially replaced Bernie Leadon in the Eagles after producer Bill Szymczyk had recommended Walsh to The Eagles.

1973 - Bobby Darin

American singer Bobby Darin died aged 37. One of the first teen idols, he had the 1959 No.1 with 'Dream Lover' plus 20 other US Top 40 hits during the 60s including ‘Mack the Knife’, (Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1960). Darin travelled with Robert Kennedy and worked on the latter's 1968 presidential campaign. He was with Kennedy the day he travelled to Los Angeles on June 4, 1968 for the California Primary. Darin was at the Ambassador Hotel later that night when Kennedy was assassinated.

1969 - Peter Paul and Mary

Peter Paul and Mary went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Leavin' On A Jet Plane'. John Denver wrote the song in 1966 with the original title of 'Oh Babe I Hate to Go.'

1969 - Rolf Harris

Rolf Harris was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Two Little Boys', (the song was written in 1902). The Christmas No.1 of 1969 and the last No.1 of the 60s. The song stayed at No.1 for six weeks.

1969 - The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones went to No.1 on the UK album chart with their 10th release Let It Bleed featuring 'Midnight Rambler', and 'You Can't Always Get What You Want.' It was the last studio album by the band to feature Brian Jones (who had died on July 3rd of this year after drowning in his swimming pool), as well as the first to feature guitarist Mick Taylor.

for some reason, I'm kinda gaining followers so I thought I'd make a pinned post with some of my fanfics info and links!

The fandoms are ordered from new to old, so I'm probably only open to the newer fandoms for requests, but my feel free to send an ask or a msg anyway!

All my fics are rated Teen or below, and the rating is for mild swearing or mild implied sexual content but nothing further.

Haikyuu!! (Kagehina)

People Keep Trying to Play Matchmaker For Tobio (series, 2 fics, complete) (only anime knowledge needed)

Fix Me Up Never : (multi-chaptered, 19.5k, complete) After Tanaka and Nishinoya try to set Tobio up with a stranger, in a panic he says he's already in a relationship. For some reason, they immediately assumed the relationship is with Hinata. Fake dating idiots to lovers with a pinch of pining and lots of fluff!

I'm Already Fixed: (one-shot, 4.4k, complete) Started out as the epilogue for the previous fic: Kageyama's mom thinks he and Hinata would make a great couple and keeps trying to push them together. What she doesn't know is that they already are. More fluff, supportive mom, and oblivious idiots.

(Manga spoilers) I thought maybe to add another one, post time-skip, post Adlers-Jackles match where maybe the media thinks Kageyama is dating Yachi or something, sort of a social media fic...?

How To (maybe series but only one fic so far)

How to Kiss Your Tall Boyfriend When He's Stupid: (one-shot 6.7k, complete) Hinata is short, his boyfriend is both tall and oblivious. Shenanigans ensue. A 5 + 1 fluffy fic about smooches, avoid if you don't have a dental plan.

I thought maybe to add more "How To" fics, like maybe "how to give a compliment to your insecure boyfriend". I'm open to suggestions and requests :D

Oceans Between Us (multi-chapter, 15k, WIP) - manga spoilers The one I'm currently writing in hopes of getting back into the groove, currently 15k in, hopefully I will finish soon :) Hinata is going to move to Brazil in a year and Kageyama is moving to Tokyo now so they navigate the long distance and their relationship while being fluffy supportive boyfriends. But it's hard and not as simple as they thought. Tons of fluff and a little angst in the middle.

Butterflies series This is kind of my baby, it's supposed to have at least 5 (or more) fics that follow Kagehina throughout the years and their relationship and personal growth. I have a huge doc and google sheet with a timeline and snippets of scenes and I plan to one day finish and post it :') it's going to follow the events of the manga plus some.

no-name getting together fic It's the first in the series, with the trope "wait are you flirting with me?" "have been for the past year but thanks for noticing". I need more flirting ideas if you have any ;)

ATLA (but not really, it's just an idea)

The gang finds out about Zuko being the blue spirit. That's the idea so far.

Spiderman: Far From Home (but also not really, it's just one snippet)

Me being mad at the post-credit scene direction (drabble, 0.5k, complete) Basically, I thought it was very stupid how seriously they took Mysterio's message and reveal I mean why would anyone believe it? So this is Peter giving an interview about it.

Andi Mack (all G rated, they are KIDS)

Friends Really Know Better (series, Tyrus and Bandi, 2 fics, complete) This is like the same events from 2 POVs- Buffy's POV is Tyrus centric, and Cyrus's POV and Bandi centric.

Friends Are The Best Matchmakers: (one-shot, 3.6k, complete) Buffy is trying to meddle because pining gays are being stupid (but maybe she's also a stupid pining gay).

Who Will You Tell If Not Me?: (one-shot, 3.5k, complete) Cyrus is on a mission to get his two BFFs together, just because he loves them and wants them to be happy and not at all as a distraction from his own totally one-sided crush on TJ.

Thought We Were Friends: (one-shot, 1.9k, complete) Welcome to sad-town :( This is angsty and teenage emo dramatic because they're 14 and exactly that. This is just Cyrus's thoughts after the costume day events.

The Bright Session (Adam/Caleb)

At Least I Have You: (one-shot, 1.9k, complete) It's been a few weeks since the Safe House Incident, and our boys are trying to get back to normal but it's not that easy. tw for panic attacks and football. Half of this is fluff tho :)

Young Justice (cartoon)

I have like 12 published fic in this fandom, most of them are Birdflash and the most recent one is 4 years old so I don't feel the need to list them all... maybe just a couple that I like and are not as old (and bad):

Charms and Wonders: (one-shot, 3.3k, complete) Wally's parents are SURE he is dating someone from the team. The problem is they think it's a girl. A little angst (and homophobia), some fluff, and a happy ending.

Practice: (one-shot, 2.3k, complete) Dick and Wally don't wanna suck at kissing so the logical thing to do is obviously practice with your best bro.
