Medium!Merida who begrudgingly can interact with ghosts but is also too stubborn to move out of her haunted house. By God Her Mom Told Her It Was A Bad Idea To Live In The Scary Lot At The End of The Lane, So She’s Going To Do It Anyways. 

Jack died barely even 2 years ago, Hiccup died in the late 2000′s, and Rapunzel has been dead for so long that she can’t remember exactly when she came from. They’re pretty friendly for being poltergeists and all, even if Jack started off with Merida on the wrong foot and had to be the one to introduce her to the others. All of them are excited about Merida because none of them ever actually came across a medium before. Jack’s initial response to Merida when she moved in and finding out she could touch/see them, was probably something along the lines of “Oh man, Rapunzel hasn’t been able to give someone a hug in over 2,000 years”

Jack is the most interactive ghost of anything, ever. He’s always floating out and about in the house or front lawn somewhere, he doesn’t like “resting.” Rapunzel and Hiccup are less obnoxious about it: before Merida they only really came out of hiding when they thought the living were out of the house out of a sense of politeness. With Merida, they’re more open but will still go away during the nighttime. Merida doesn’t know where any of them ‘go’ when they aren’t visible, but she knows at the very least its not of this side of Earth because she can feel their presence and she can especially feel the lack of it. The three do know when to give her privacy, though, and Merida knows how to ask for it. 

They get to a point where they realize Merida can channel them for brief amounts of time so she'll let them "take over" from time to time because she knows there’s just certain things they can’t do as ghosts that they can do in her borrowed body. Jack likes to go skating, Rapunzel likes to sit down and paint, etc.

the big three are the only ones tethered to Merida's house but plenty of others constantly are passing through. This being because ghosts are all tethered in a very, very loose sense. Besides them, Merida is also good ghostly buddies with Mulan, Tiana, Peter Pan, and so on and so forth. 

 The house next door is owned by two very sweet sisters(Elsa & Anna) who have no idea their house is haunted by up to 40 different ghosts. Whenever Merida is over for tea, they’re always inviting her over, plenty of apparitions will sit in and talk Merida’s ear off because they know no one else can listen. I think it’s funny to imagine a good chunk of their ghosts are the classical Disney princesses who aren’t actually princesses, but are lying their asses of to Merida because like wouldn’t you try to fuck with mortals if you thought you could get away with it? Merida knows they’re full of it but lets Aurora and Jasmine and Belle have their fun. 

Merida lets Hiccup ‘take over’ for a single day of university and somehow he manages to befriend MacGuffin, Macintosh, and Dingwall all under that time span. The trio in question are the resident Radio club who think Merida’s a tech whiz bc Hiccup!Merida stumbled upon their equipment and gushed about the advancements made in the field since Hiccup died. 

But really, Merida has no clue what they're talking about when she's on her own, she just nods and waves. She eventually does get to know them as her own friends although they do ban her from actually putting her hands on any real radios(things just break and short-circuit around her, and everyone knows this.) 

Jack, Hiccup, and Rapunzel are very clingy but also try their very hardest to NOT be that bc they know their friend is still alive and can't be just held down like that. but they'll still all float above her and comment on her mathematical errors when she's doing homework and heckle her when she’s making breakfast. Seriously, it’s the most important meal of the day, who the hell puts whisky in their dry cereal and leaves it at that? Merida calls them annoying to their faces, but she’s actually glad to have friends for once: even with their limits. That said: they give her unsolicited advice ALL the time: and it’s usually outdated(i.e. Hiccup and Rapunzel) or just meant to fuck with her(i.e. Jack). But they’re also there for her when she’s throwing a ragefit over fights with her mom and don’t flinch away in disgust at Merida’s worst so... It balances out

Rapunzel would be the most off-putting bc she's been dead longest. ghosts don't deteriorate or anything it's just that Rapunzel is still astounded by the moon landing, everything is after her time. She'll say well meaning things that are just creepy like. "OH when you die, Merida, you can finally experience the joy of phasing into mold and worms in the core of the earth! How it calls for you now :) And then we can hang out together!” Hiccup is used to it, but Jack still goes “honey, no” every time it happens.

omg ok i'll tell you about my potc fic that's currently in progress! i'm super excited about it because normally i really want to write for my favorite fandoms but get stuck only doing character studies because my plot ideas are TRASH, but i randomly rewatched the potc movies the other day and got, like, struck by the inspiration muse or something. :D

so the basic like, starting premise of the fic is 'beckett turns pirate au' (lmfao i feel like i'm always writing [character] switches sides aus but theyre just so good!)... i decided to make him not die in that explosion when his ship goes down but randomly be picked up by the black pearl instead & informed that now that everyone on HIS side thinks he's dead, he has no choice but to join their crew lmao. idk like i just want to force him to become a pirate bc i think that would not only be incredibly funny but also kinda cool, like i want to see the whole like ruthless and calculating thing used in the opposite direction!

anyway. meanwhile, all the different pirate lords are trying to decide whether or not they want to go searching for the fountain of youth now that davy jones is out of the way, and another brethren court meeting is called. jack and barbossa get into a big argument at the meeting over a bunch of things (who's the rightful captain/owner of the pearl, who actually has the greater right to discover the fountain, etc etc) bc y'all know that whole situation where they're BOTH trying to be captain of the pearl could not last long lol. they kinda split the rest of the court in half with their arguments and start a pirate civil war i guess? now both sides are suddenly in a race to find the fountain FIRST because whoever does will gain control over the sea. there's this like underlying feeling that they all have that the age of piracy is sort of slowly dying (especially in the aftermath of the battle at world's end) & that they need the fountain to preserve it, so that's very key.

anyway, barbossa takes most of the pearl's crew and dips, so jack, elizabeth, and randomly beckett LMAO are left to try and go their own way. they realize that barbossa has a huge head start on them & ALSO took the map showing where the fountain is, so they're kinda fucked. jack decides to do some sketchy magic and re-raise calypso from her slumber to convince her to help them, which only like halfway works: for the time being, they catch a favorable wind and are convinced she's on their side. meanwhile, calypso is NOT on their side at all... and in fact is so pissed that they woke her up and meddled with her magic for no reason that she goes and finds will on the flying dutchman, and teams up with him to track jack down just to cause problems for him (which also causes problems for everyone else on the sea).

jack calls another brethren court meeting in a panic after the pearl is almost destroyed by like a crazy hurricane or something, but everyone's so pissed at him and also each other that it does NOT go well. barbossa doesn't even show up, which technically is a big no-no according to the pirate code, but no one has time to track him down, so jack makes beckett stand in for him. somehow beckett manages to manipulate everyone into agreeing to chase barbossa down and try to beat him to the fountain of youth, because at this point it seems like it's a bad idea for ANYONE to use its powers bc calypso will just like smite them down immediately. so they all agree, but they all still have their own agendas bc obviously they all DO still want immortality juice lmao. everyone's extra annoyed at jack now though because now beckett is technically a pirate lord which literally no one wanted lmao.

anyways the race to get to the fountain of youth is officially on, but no one realizes that will (and calypso) are also in the race lmao. so after a million years the pearl FINALLY reaches the fountain, getting there just at the same time as barbossa (he got really held up bc of all the terrible weather)... AND will and calypso, who everyone (except elizabeth, who may or may not have been secretly communicating with will the entire time) is shocked af to see. they do a really awkward parlay between barbossa/will/calypso and jack/elizabeth/beckett that gets absolutely nowhere because jack and barbossa are still pissed at each other and will and elizabeth are barely even invested in the whole fountain thing and would rather romance each other LMAOO. they all (including all the other pirate lords, who want the fountain's powers for themselves) start swordfighting on the like tiny desert island where the fountain supposedly is, and calypso goes up into the sky and creates a huge lightning storm for Dramatic Purposes.

anyway the ending is still very much in progress but i think essentially they all eventually realize the fountain of youth was fake all along LOL and that there really is no way for one pirate/one ship to be 'master of the entire sea' BUT... if they actually revamp the brethren court into something that vaguely functions (which i feel like beckett could do as he's lowkey the only one who like, understands how money works among other things LMFAO), and agree to team up and work together for the most part, then they can preserve piracy in the caribbean.

anyway this got LONG sorry lol! but yeah. oh yeah also i forgot to mention that i'm also inserting my random pirate oc into this story... her name is anne bonny (stolen shamelessly from history) and she's randomly jack's cousin but i'm not totally sure what to do with her. i may ship her with someone for the fun of it HAHA. also im thinking that norrington since he's dead might be one of will's crew members, just so he can do something in the story? i feel like that would be funny.

GOD okay sooo for the record i am reading the red dragon book and am like 7 or 8 chapters in and full transparency im not like. enjoying it lol. the book pisses me off with its misogyny (all the women in it are either dead or it feels like you're supposed to think theyre Selfish Bitches or theyre just there for like. bizarre and uncomfortable sexual moments like the guys talking abt that woman in the elevator, or that one part of mrs. leeds diary which is like. i guess could be there to Show Her Humanity or whatever but 1. there are more ways to do that 2. the book doesnt seem particularly concerned with her humanity considering she's barely even given a first name and so far the novel hasnt seemed to disapprove of how will thinks of her as a possession of her husband) and its inconsistency with will's most important character trait or whatever (he's so intensely, extremely empathetic towards EVERYONE, even serial killers, which makes him really good at finding them! and he can never turn this off, to the point where every time he has a conversation with someone, he ends up mimicking the way they talk, even if he tries to stop! but also he never empathizes with the victims or HIS OWN FUCKING WIFE? HELLO? so it really feels less like "extremely strong empathy for everyone that he cant control" and more like "he can empathize with serial killers extremely well and also other people if we want to Make A Point in one scene instead of letting the point show through the whole book") BUT UHHH ANYWAY. okay this is what i am worried will either 1. draw annoying tv will graham stans to my blog like flies or 2. end with me being hanged in the town square BUT. it must be said. i prefer 2002 red dragon will graham to tv will graham. and quite frankly? so far? i think 2002 red dragon will graham is better than book will graham. i cannot lie.

my reasoning: because 2002 will actually empathizes with more people than serial killers and his boss! y'know! like you'd assume someone with constant extreme empathy would! the difference between the first scene with molly in the book vs in the movie are SO striking to me now that i've read that part of the novel. in the novel he seems very... rough, i guess, and like he doesnt care about molly's worries. he doesnt seem to see things from her perspective, which especially feels like a kick to the gut because MOLLY! SEES! THINGS! FROM! HIS! PERSPECTIVE!!! she literally empathizes with him more than he does with her! what the fuck! MEANWHILE in the movie, he does seem to care about her. his assurances that he wont get too involved seem like assurances rather than him trying to get her off his back. he hugs her and tells her he loves her and i actually believe that yeah, he loves her, he knows she's worried about him, and he wants to comfort her and ease her worries. and the victims! AGAIN such a stark difference to me! in the book, will is like... uncomfortable empathizing w the red dragon, of course, but he doesnt seem to empathize with the victims all that much, ESPECIALLY not the women. he doesnt care about them. he sees them as possessions belonging to their husbands and its so fucking gross. despite already suspecting that the red dragon chooses families based on the women, he decides to waste time focusing on the husbands as a way of "asking permission to look at [their wives]." what the fuck? meanwhile in the film, he feels for the victims so much that he can barely even say that the kids were shot in bed! when he watches the tapes, he focuses on the women! because that's his fucking job!!! and we see him empathizing with them! wow!!

siiigh okay im gonna stop talking abt the book vs the movie now bc again im only like 8 chapters or so deep. but now we come to tv will vs. 2002 will, which is admittedly gonna be more subjective and part of that it bc i cant remember a whole lot of specifics from the show bc my memory is Very Bad. but anyway

let's get the shallow stuff out of the way. yes i prefer ed norton's face to hugh dancy's. call hugh dancy "gender" or whatever have your fun i support you and your right to call any blood covered man a gender but by god is that not even REMOTELY my experience. next shallow thing to get out of the way: ed norton's line delivery is like music to my FUCKING ears compared to hugh dancy's i am so sorry. like the jokes about will shaking like a damp chihuahua before taking 5 minutes to stutter out "he's killing them....... On Purpose, jack." are funny and all but christ i had SUCH a hard time watching the show bc of that im not lying. literally hearing 2002 will just say "he's not keeping them. he's eating them." nice and quick, matter of factly is better than well im actually gonna end that sentence there but you get the idea. like YESSS you little blonde bitch get to the point i love you!!!

OKAY NOW less shallow points but also less uhh idk man i just dont remember a lot of hannibal. but basically: after seeing how caring 2002 will is, i'm kind of... idk i'm just so over tv will and how abrasive and harsh he is in comparison. like i fell in LOVE with how vulnerable 2002 will is, how he feels like he cares deeply about the people around him (and honestly... idk i cant remember a moment in the hannibal tv series that made me feel the way i felt when 2002 will can't say "the kids were shot in their beds". it's like... yeah this is a guy who feels so deeply for everyone around him at all times. i believe that.) and i just dont remember getting that same feeling from tv will. i have been gently spoon fed the most excellent chocolate pudding and everything else in my memory is just a snack pack. i guess tv will has those moments (what comes to mind is when he brings gideon to hannibal's house and is crying and he says "please dont lie to me") but idk they just didnt really do for me what 2002 will does. and then their scenes with reba! wow! i rewatched the tv version after watching red dragon, bc the film version made me tear up, meanwhile the tv version i barely remembered and i wasnt sure if that was just bc of the different mindsets i was in while watching them or what. and ok i just rewatched the tv version again and like... yeah. it's the wills lol. i LOVEEE tv reba SO much she is giving everything in that scene!! she sounds so like... broken, both bc of dolarhyde's apparent suicide and bc of finding out who he was + what he was doing, she sounds so fragile and guilt ridden! she's amazing!! but will. idk. tv will's delivery just seems... idk this feels dumb to say but it sounds like writing. i admittedly LOVE the line "people who study this kind of thing say that he was trying to stop because you helped him." and his delivery there is good. but between tv "you didnt draw a freak, you drew a man w a freak on his back" and the 2002 version, the 2002 delivery seems more genuine while the tv delivery sounds rehearsed. idk overall the 2002 version of that conversation just makes me feel more? its like. idk i can feel the 2002 version gently holding my heart while the tv version is a scene that is nice in h/nnigram gifsets or w/e.

umm ok this is already suuuper long and my brain is getting a bit mushy so i'm gonna start wrapping it up lol. i'll probably compare book will and 2002 will again after i finish the book, and then i miiight rewatch hannibal, or at least parts of s3. but right now my thoughts are basically: book will is a fucking dick who has an easier time empathizing with serial killers than with his wife. tv will is a nothing girl after being so completely catered to + also idk he doesnt have the same fragility that i want from my wills now. and 2002 will is my little caramel apple. he has this delightful vulnerability and feels like he cares so much and empathizes with more people than serial killers and his boss and 4 people in a diner for one scene! 2002 will made me care about will graham! which is honestly kind of a feat!

You couldn’t believe how he’d rather play with his phone and his friends rather than spending time with you, his girlfriend, despite it being a free Sunday for the both of you. Finals were fucking finally over for all of you after the two of you, along with your friends had spent every day studying (more like cramming) to try and ace your tests.

 It was safe to say the two of you hadn’t had sex in a while. Plus, this was your only time alone together after a while as your roommate, Jihyo was on a date with her boyfriend, Eunwoo. Director’s Cut of The Party (Parts I&II) from How to Fake-Date a Pro Hero; A Guide by Dabi and Hawks

“so I wanted to start off by thanking @scarlet99 for asking me to do this commentary. It’s a bit long so I’ll put it below the cut! Also, my fic can be found here!

I have no idea HOW, but I somehow settled on the idea of Ikki creating more drama and I really really liked it

as SOON as I thought about their costumes, I knew it had to be Icarus/Apollo bc y’know. Wings/fire. Dabi’s costume was tough bc he doesn’t like showing too much skin, but Apollo is historically a slut

Also for Miruko’s costume, I really liked her as the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland and I was gonna have Remi be dressed up as Alice, but I just kinda forgot to say it and by the time I remembered, I couldn’t find a natural spot for it

OH MY GOD OKAY so I’ve been meaning to talk about this for a while, but it is SO HARD to try and write Dabi and Hawks in character bc this story is so fucking far from canon and they don’t have much spoken dialogue so far in the anime. Like, my trick to keep folks in character is to picture their voices saying the words I write. If I can’t picture it, it’s not in character. But I can’t really do that bc Dabi isn’t a murderous psychopath and Hawks isn’t walking on eggshells so he doesn’t get burnt to death – at least in this universe. Like, Canon Dabi would never go to a party like this, but FakeDate! Dabi would, and it’s really hard to find a balance between fanon and canon

so when I first started writing Part I, I was debating a staged kiss. One of two things would’ve happened: either Ikki managed to kiss Dabi in front of Hawks and Hawks would be hurt but pissed at Ikki, OR, Ikki would kiss Hawks and Dabi would be pissed at Ikki. However, I couldn’t find a way to write a staged kiss scene without it being annoying, and I kept wondering what I was gonna do. About halfway through Part I, I knew I wanted Dabi and Ikki to get into a fight and for Ikki to throw Dabi off the building, and Hawks would catch him

Ok so I really like Dabi and Natsuo’s relationship.Their whole conversation on the balcony was meant to be a pep-talk / confession. It’s also a way of me kinda explaining how Dabi deals with all the sudden popularity – I always saw him as the kinda guy that didn’t really care if random people liked him. If he liked you and you liked him, then it’s fine.

I worked so hard on this line and I’m lowkey disappointed that no one seemed to notice it much, but I get why – I mean, I did throw Dabi off the building

ok so the whole confrontation scene was hard to write but I REALLY enjoyed it bc I felt like it was a good way to expose how Hawks went through life vs Dabi. Like, because Hawks is so high up on the social ladder, he’s gotta perform for everyone and everyone uses him – even other elites. It’s sorta like a farmer marrying royalty, it IMMEDIATELY elevates your status. Hawks can date whomever he wants bc he’s climbed as high as he possibly can; heroes are the pinacle of their society, he’s the second most powerful hero in Japan and the most well-liked. Hawks is basically untouchable, and a great ticket to the top

also, I feel like a lot of people think that Dabi is only dating Hawks for his own personal means because that’s just the world so many of the elites live in, they can’t comprehend true compassion bc their life is just so glamourous

L. even more unfortunately, triss still does like him (or, at least amicably tolerates him lmao) and is on pretty good terms with him, at least up until That One Scene in book 2. i like to think they were friends in highschool, when he was halfway decent, and then got together after triss returned from the city. like i said above, triss doesn't rly let anybody in, and so bobby........felt easy for her, because she knew pretty much right from the start that he didnt actually give a fuck about knowing her or understanding her. and that suited her just fine fbxndndnd much to her mother's dismay. basically he was just a convenient excuse to avoid real, genuine intimacy and emotional vulnerability, wig ! rebecca would give her a LOT of talks abt “knowing her worth" "doing better" and whatever but the thing is.... triss knew he was trash ! she was just chill w it bc it meant she didn't have to get too attached lmao. anyway obviously they broke up but their relationship following that is mostly just..... ironic. triss is never mean or cold to him bc shes never mean or cold to anyone, but i guess u could say she's very obviously with the fact that she finds him annoying af. but she also finds him funny so she doesnt mind him being around bc she can get a laugh out of it.

one more thing – triss got kissed by him in book 2 (i picked the 'too stunned' option uwu) but didnt want to go any further with it bc obviously she's hung up on ava. his betrayal after that was probably one of the few times triss's chill persona actually slipped and she could barely hold a smile, could barely keep the anger and disgust from her face, and so i think he rly knew he fucked up bc she NEVER let him get under her skin when they dated. she still cared abt him and was concerned abt him after he was attacked tho. shes a caring gal !

8. What's their relationship with their mom like? How did it change?

her relationship with her mum is very good, but thats because its VERY distant. she doesn't tell rebecca jack shit abt her life, and hasnt since she was a kid. she has a lot of unresolved issues with rebecca but locks them down deep bc.... well. she hates setting boundaries for other people and would rather just ignore it til it goes away. after the book 1 reveal shes....... not rly okay with her mum, but not for the reasons rebecca thinks. the supernatural, the agency, the secrecy, none of that is rly a big deal for triss - she already more or less knew that the supernatural was out there, and like. the government being shady is hardly a surprise dbfhdjdj. mostly the reveal just bought to the surface memories of what she saw as a kid, and how much it hurt her, and she cant stop thinking abt how if her mother – who had the tools to deal w it properly – had just noticed that smth was obviously wrong, she could have helped her. it makes pretending to be fine about things a lot harder for a while, and she comes across a lot more distant than usual. eventually, after processing it, she does find a way to repress it down again, but those feelings are by no means gone and i think theyll come out One day, at some point lmao
