For the AU combos: roadtrip/amusement park
-Flynn and Julie decide to do a road trip before they go away for college, because Flynn's going to New York and Julie's staying in LA and they need Bestie Time.
-They take Flynn's Mom's Minivan, because it is the safest vehicle, will fit all of their souvenirs, and they can sleep in it if they can't find somewhere to stay the night. (Don't tell Tía.)
-They decide to split their time into three big categories: must see landmarks, epic amusement parks (Flynn's a sucker for roller coasters) and We'll Know It When We See It.
-Among We'll Know It When We See It: Creepy haunted clown motel (no they did NOT spend the night, don't you worry, Tía), a fun small town festival with ten million fried things on a stick, a cool concert by some band nobody had ever heard of but Julie just knew her mom would have loved, and a carnival.
-Because Flynn didn't just want to ride big, cool, safe rollercoasters. No, she had to drag Julie onto ones that were set up in an hour and would be torn down in even less time.
-That's where they meet Reggie. He's really cute and really excited when he hears they're from LA ("You're going around to cool amusement parks? Have you been to Star Wars World??? Is the ride as cool as the internet makes it seem????"). He makes sure to show them around, shows them which pies are the best and what food stalls to avoid. Delights in taking them to the fortune teller, because 'it's really just Mrs Meyerson in a weird costume. She's a total gossip and knows everyone's business, that's why she's so good. I want to know what she'll say to two outsiders.'
-They have lunch together, and dinner, and ride all the rides, and Reggie wins them both a stuffed animal (a unicorn for Flynn, a red panda for Julie) by shooting tiny little moving ducks down.
-Julie wins Reggie a dalmatian by heaving a giant mallet over her head and bringing it down so hard on the high striker the bell dings loud enough people turn their heads to stare.
-Reggie looks a little bit in love with her in that moment, and Julie can't help but feel a little in love with him too.
-They're loathe to say goodbye, even as midnight approaches and there are announcements the carnival is closing soon. Reggie promises to show them a cool water tower where you can see the stars, and Julie agrees even before Flynn can weigh the options of 'he seems harmless enough' and 'following some white boy into the woods after he showed us what a good shot he is is the start of a horror movie'.
-Yes Flynn has her taser in her pocket just in case.
-But Reggie stays true to his word and the sight is amazing. The town is just twinkling lights from up here, and he says he used to come here as a kid and pretend he was an astronaut, looking down on earth, away from all his problems.
-Their conversation turns deep, and Reggie admits he has plans to run away from his little town, as soon as he can save up enough money to buy a truck. His parents spend all their time fighting, and ever since he turned eighteen a few weeks ago, with him. As if now that he's of age, they don't have to hold back their hatred anymore.
-Surprisingly, it's Flynn that offers to take him with them.
-Insert movie montage of Flynn, Julie, and Reggie having Adventures. Julie is just happy someone will go on the really terrifying rollercoasters with Flynn so she doesn't have to. Reggie is seeing the world for the first time and is excited about everything. ("A real Rainforest Cafe??? Can we go???"). Julie is slowly falling in love with this golden retriever of a boy.
-Yes they carefully edit out Reggie in any pictures they send to Julie's aunt.
-They end up back in LA, finishing the trip with a visit to Star Wars World.
-Just Julie showing up home like: hi Dad so this is Reggie he's my boyfriend and also he needs a place to stay. If he can't stay here, he's probably going to get adopted by the Taylors and live in Flynn's room and be murdered by Flynn's little sister who had dibs on that room when she moved out and then I'll be sad my boyfriend is dead sooooo...
-Yes, Reggie can stay.
-Flynn leaves for New York knowing her girl will be well looked after. Especially because she did use the taser on Reggie... but only to wave it around threateningly to give him the shovel talk somewhere around St Louis.

“you’re my friend, of course i fucking care.” for Alex/anyone because LET. ALEX. SWEAR.
Warnings for child abuse, allusions to domestic violence
It is well established, that out of all of Alex's friends, Reggie is the most questionable one. So sometimes, Alex thinks he can be excused for not paying attention to every single bit of his ramblings.
Like he's glad that Dungeons & Dragons is helping Reggie develop his storytelling skills and having a positive impact on his English grade, but that doesn't mean he needs to know the life story of every character in his campaign.
And Alex doesn't mind country music, but he could do without being party to Reggie's hour long lecture on the greatness of Dolly and Shania when Luke rags on the genre a bit too much.
Honestly it's when Reggie gets quiet and withdrawn that makes Alex sit up and pay attention.
Today for instance, when he came in, he had to stop. Because Reggie was hunched in on himself, sniffling and wiping at watery eyes.
"Reg? Are you okay?"
Reggie lifted his eyes, red rimmed and shimmery, a dark mark on his cheek that make Alex suck in a breath. "Like you care."
Alex rushed over, gripping Reggie's hands in his, unable to ignore the split knuckles, and looked Reggie right in his eyes. "You're my friend, of course I fucking care," he asserted, taking in the trickle of blood from Reggie's nose, the cut running through his eyebrow. "And I want to murder whoever did this to you."
Reggie's eyes flew away, wiping the blood away, hands jerked from Alex's grasp. "Don't worry, I got my own licks in."
Alex snorted at that. "Did you just 'you should see the other guy' me? Really Reginald?"
Reggie cracked a wry grin at that, grabbed the tissues that Alex grabbed from the box on the table and offered to him. "I mean, you just told me you wanted to kill him, so maybe you shouldn't. Doubt anyone will bail you out if you snuff out my old man."
Alex froze at that. "Your dad did this to you?"
"It was that or let him beat the shit out of my mom. She got out, her and Alfie, hopefully she thought to go farther than the Meyerson's. I came here." Reggie blew out a breath, disrupting the bangs that were lying across his forehead. "He was plastered, probably passed out by now. He'll forget this, too ashamed that his own son beat his ass. He always does."
"H-he's done this before?" Alex asked timidly.
"Not this bad," Reggie admitted. "He lost his job, so it was worse this time. Usually I'm faster, able to avoid him leaving a mark. I just wish mom would get it in her head that he's never gonna change and just take us and leave."
"Reggie..." Alex started, but stopped when Reggie held up a hand.
"It's okay Lexie. I'm almost 18. Once my birthday hits if she's still with him I'm taking Alfie and getting out. Bring him to MeeMaw back in Georgia, he'll be safe there. I-I don't think I can save her too if she won't get it through her head what a piece of shit he is."
"And you?" Alex asked, quiet as the fear rushed through him. "Will you stay in Georgia too?"
Reggie snorted at that, smiling at Alex, but wincing when it made his cheek sting. "Why, you worried you'll miss me? No worries, I couldn't stay away long, the band needs me. Plus once Ray finds out, I'm pretty sure he'll offer to adopt me then and there."
Alex let out a genuine laugh at that. "Well you're not wrong there." Then, quiet as anything, he whispered "Next time it gets bad, come to me will you? I know first aid at least. Now let's get you cleaned up, and we can see what snacks Ray has poked away before Julie sees you and freaks."
Reggie grinned, letting himself be pulled up from the couch, but didn't let go of Alex's hand, and he found he didn't mind that one bit. "Sounds good, but I call dibs on the Goldfish."
Alex snorted. "Deal," and started pulling Reggie towards the house, never letting go, even if it made eating snacks all the harder. But when Reggie pressed a shy kiss to the corner of Alex's mouth, he found he really didn't mind, gripping Reggie's hands all the tighter.

MIKE MIDDLEMAN LICENSE
In 1993 Middleman had to go to the Standards and Appeals Commission for a “3 year variance for obstruction to designated fire exit,” and “that no further encroachment be made in this area.”Ī cigarette machine partially blocked access to the exit at the southwest corner of the building. In the late 1980s and early 1990s Middleman rented out the parking lot on weekends in season to Joe Enea for the purpose of selling fruits and vegetables from his truck, using the trade name “Banana Joe’s.” It remains, although the beer is nowhere to be found.īy March, 1976, Dale Middleman, the current owner, rented the business from Carl Laabs, purchasing the real estate in 1978. On April 21st, 1975, a Special Export sign was hoisted up on the pole outside. In July, 1974, Laabs air conditioned the place at the cost of $4,425, having by that time purchased the real estate. He sent his rent checks to the Estate of Christopher Young. ran the place as a “tavern with sandwich service,” naming it after himself. DeStefano was the first, followed in 1968 by Clarence Peters, and, in 1972, John C. By 1967, Young retained ownership of the real estate, while others took out licenses to operate the business. Young scurried down to City Hall to pay the taxes, and on July 20th, 1962, he took out a permit to hire the Dorsey-Baglien company to change “an existing one story building to a 2 story bldg,” as it remains today.
MIKE MIDDLEMAN LICENSE
In June, the city notified Young that “Renewal of license referred to committee for a hearing because you are reported in arrears in the payment of personal property taxes.” The year 1962 was a propitious one for the operator. By 1958 the City of Milwaukee annexed the property as part of its vigorous expansion under Mayor Frank Zeidler. The Schlitz sign and the building date to June 1954, when the Everbrite Company took out an electrical permit with the Town of Wauwatosa, in which jurisdiction the tavern, to be built by Ed Meyerson, was then located. A second glance shows that this is an early picture of the two-story tavern that is now Dale’s. Was One-Story BuildingĪ black-and-white photograph of a one-story bar with a Schlitz sign on a pole identifying it as the Capitol Inn seems eerily familiar. A much earlier Currier-and-Ives print has a rare botanical theme featuring “The Tree of Intemperance,” second in infamy only to the apple that grew in the Garden of Eden. A “Souvenir Blotter” from the East Troy Celebration of July 3 is today as much a curiosity as would be the fountain pen upon which it depended. The official Baseball Scorecard for Friday, July 15th, 1921 hangs on the wall to remind us that the Milwaukee team beat Louisville that day by a score of 2-1. Holton St., Ray Dziubek, Proprietor, retains its color, while a curious 1940s Pabst Blue Ribbon beer tray advertises that it is “Blended 33 to 1.” The tray goes on to tell us that, yes indeed, “33 Fine Brews Blended to Make ONE Great Beer.” What a bunch of hooey. A feathered bird advertising the Grand Tavern, 2900 N. There you will find old Milwaukee photographs and memorabilia, some quite vintage. Once you’ve wrapped your mind around that juxtaposition, it’s worth a closer look at the many, many other things hanging on the wall just a layer or two beneath the garlands and bunting.

from the au list college!au, childhood friends, “you had no idea, did you?” with a added one small kiss, pulling away for an instant, then devouring each other kiss for alex/reggie
Once again, oh my god I love Alex/Reggie. This one is in my top few favorites so far for sure. Threw in some good old poetic imagery as well, for the effect ;) <3
When Reggie was a kid and he needed to escape from his parents' arguments and his treehouse in the backyard couldn’t cut it, he ran to the water. He felt at home with the grit of the sand, glow of the stars and pull of the tides.
Slowly he had found himself on the beach more than anything and he loved it. He taught himself to swim, to surf and just thoroughly enjoyed the people watching, but that all came in the later years, when he felt like a nobody who had nothing.
He really missed being a kid who had no idea the things he held so dearly could just disappear, wished he could gain back the blissful ignorance and the naive glow of childlike optimism. Sadly, Reggie was never the luckiest person and it seemed like the universe had it out for him.
He remembered thanking this same universe many years ago when a new family had moved into the Meyerson’s old house next door. He had, specifically, thanked the universe for giving him a friend, the first of many.
Reggie felt stupid, for thinking that someone could know him as good as Alex had, for thinking someone could even understand a fraction of why he is how he is.
Reggie was just about done feeling stupid.
So instead of focusing on why he was here, on the same beach even years later, he focused on the past and how much he wanted tonight to not have happened.
He remembered when he was just barely five and his parents decided to move to California, at first something connected to his fathers job, he thinks. Dry heat and sandy beaches were totally different from the very faded memory he had of what living in Illinois was like prior to that.
He found himself wondering what could’ve happened if his family never left Illinois, if he still would’ve met Alex and later on their current group of friends.
Fate has a funny way of working out, a voice that sounds vaguely like Julie rings in the back of his head, doesn’t it?
The Julie in his head doesn’t get the satisfaction of him playing out that thought process in his head when he can hear footsteps slowly approaching behind him. Everything in him just wants to run, but he’s so, so tired of running.
“I’m not some wild animal, you don’t have to inch up to me.” Reggie calls, keeping his gaze focused on the tide. Alex appeared in his peripheral vision, taking a seat just out of reach.
“Hey.” The blonde offered him a smile with the quiet words.
“Hey.” He shrugged, pretending the water was infinitely more intriguing.
They sat in silence, something that Reggie used to find home in with the boy beside him. Normally he hated silence, wanted to fill the emptiness with stupid stories, facts or information. Not with Alex, with Alex he could enjoy the silence, just basking in the odd calmness that he always felt when he was around the other boy.
“Do you remember…” Alex started, giving a slight pause to clear his throat. “Do you remember when we were little, the first time you dragged me out here when my parents finally relented to letting me sleepover at your place, when you told me the story about the tide?”
Reggie did remember, although that had been one of the sweeter memories he was avoiding, not wanting to tarnish it. That sleepover had been the most fun thing, cementing into his head that Alex was his person, even at their young age. The Mercer’s almost had a fit when they realized the boys had slept on the beach rather than in Reggie’s room that night, but it had all been worth it, in the end. They had officially become best friends that night, swore an oath with the moon as their witness.
“I do.” Reggie let out a short laugh, gazing up now at that same moon. “How the Moon wasn’t allowed to have friends, the tide was the Ocean reaching out for her, wanting to be friends.”
“I loved that story.” Alex admits, a quiver in his voice. “It’s stuck with me all these years, cause I felt like the Moon.” Reggie tore his gaze away from the moon, to focus on the boy beside him.
“You? The Moon?” Reggie shook his head in disbelief. “No way! Sure your parents suck but when have you ever listened to them?”
“Maybe not like that exactly.” Alex caved, running a hand through his hair. “But yeah, me. Moon.” He waved a hand towards the sky.
“Who’s the Ocean?”
“Who else?” Alex let out an awkward laugh. “You.”
“Me?” Reggie felt his shock hit his body. “How?”
“Just you being you, you always make all these gestures and stuff out of the kindness of your heart.” Alex set his hand on the sand in between them, his eyes gaining a slight glossiness to them. “It felt too good to be true sometimes, felt like I’ve had to distance myself lately, I didn’t think that through very well. I didn’t mean to hurt you, or make you worry, I’m really sorry about that.”
“Why would you have to distance yourself? I still don’t understand that.” He gently set his own hand over Alex’s, slotting their fingers together as his palm rested against the back of the blonde's hand.
“Because it’s hard to be like this.” Alex let out a wet laugh, his free hand motioning to the hand that was under Reggie’s. “It’s hard to be around you when you’re so sweet and doting, it’s so hard because it’s so easy, which doesn’t make any sense.”
“I’m still not following, what?”
“It’s just—“ Alex cut himself off, a stray tear rolling down his cheek. “It’s so easy to fall in love with you, Reg.” He swallowed thickly, moving his hand over so they were palm to palm.
Reggie felt like all the air was pulled out of his lungs, his eyes locked on Alex’s face as more tears began to make their way down his face. He slowly reached his free hand up to brush at his cheek, gently wiping the tears away.
“You’re in love with me?” His voice reached his ears, sounding muffled, like he had cotton shoved in his ears or hearing a voice yelling to him while he was underwater.
“You really had no idea, did you?” Alex gave him a sarcastic smile, sniffling slightly. “Yes, Reginald. I’m in love with you, I kinda thought that’s why you ran from the party.”
“Not at all, I ran because I was scared.” Reggie admitted, finding himself tearing up as well.
“Why were you scared?” Alex mirrored him, lifting his free hand to cup and swipe at Reggie’s tears.
“Cause I realized I’m in love with you.” Reggie let out a laugh, leaning into the hand on his cheek.
“Oh.” Alex sucked in a breath, blue eyes locking onto green. “Can I kiss you?”
Reggie could only nod, his voice stuck in his throat. Slowly they both leaned in, eyes fluttering shut. Alex hesitates, their lips just ghosting each other when he finally closes the gap. It’s a sweet kiss, though it doesn’t last long. They both pull away, eyes opening and once again finding each other in the moonlight. A shot of adrenaline shoots through Reggie’s heart and he’s lurching forward, reconnecting their lips.
He understands, in this moment, how the sand and the tides feel during the day. Alex’s earlier point of Reggie being the Ocean felt right, but his assumption that he was the Moon was way, way off. The Ocean reached for the Moon but the Moon pulled away, never giving back to the Ocean. Alex was never like that, Alex gave and he gave with everything he had.
Alex was the Sun and everyday that Reggie was around him he was basking in his warmth. This kiss just intensified that, the warmth and love pooling in his stomach. He wasn’t sure when Alex had moved to straddle his lap or thread his fingers through his hair, but he wasn’t one to argue.
He also wasn’t quite sure when he had opened his mouth or when he had gotten a tight grasp onto Alex’s ass, but he was certainly not going to argue with that either. Reggie did realize though, to his disappointment, he had to pull away to breathe.
Alex seemed as out of breath as he was, flushed and panting on his lap. Reggie grinned through his labored breath, giving the blonde’s ass a gentle squeeze. He received an eye roll and a large smile back.
“Can we go back to the dorms? As much as I would like to go back to Carrie’s party I think I’d rather go home and keep kissing you.” Reggie begged, rubbing his hand up Alex’s back.
“How can I say no to that? Totally glad that we agreed to dorm in a double room and not a quad room, no one can interrupt us.” Alex winked before getting off his lap and helping him to his feet.
“Interrupt what? You have plans now, do you?” Reggie teased, lacing their fingers together.
“Maybe I do, guess you have to be patient to figure them out.” Alex gave him a mischievous look and he felt a shiver go down his back. They continued walking, falling into the comfortable silence Reggie had been reminiscing on earlier that night.
“By the way,” He started. “You’re wrong, you’re not the Moon.”
“Oh? What am I then?” Alex laughed, a playful smirk on his lips.
“The Sun, duh.”
“Mmm, explain.”
“Well obviously I’m still the Ocean, although I definitely want your reasoning for that, but you’re the sun because...well.” Reggie hummed, tilting his head side to side as he searched for the right words. “You're always warm for starters. Temperature wise and just everything about you. It’s warm, like coming home. You’re also very consistent and bright. So, so bright. Unapologetic too, just being completely and blindingly you, all the time.” He shrugged. “Just everything I guess, it’s an easy comparison. Besides, the Moon wouldn’t be lit up without the Sun.”
“This is why I love you.” Alex stopped, looking at him with pure, unfiltered love. Reggie never wanted this look off of his face if he could help it, thrilled by how the warmth in his stomach grew. “You want to know why you’re the Ocean?”
“Yes, please.” Reggie grinned, tugging on Alex’s hand for them to continue their walk.
“You’re so fluid, always moving. Extremely unpredictable, to the point that it’s scary sometimes. Undeniably beautiful, not to mention how you just reflect everything around you.” Alex laughed, a sweet sound that Reggie wanted to hold onto forever. “So full of life too and you just seemed to, I don’t know, make everything better?” He shrugged. “That seems a bit sappy, but it’s true.”
“Maybe a bit sappy.” Reggie agreed. “But I love it, sappiness is totally a good look on you, although so was that whole flushed thing you had going on after we made out.” At the mention of it, Alex flushed once more and Reggie couldn’t help but laugh.
“How could I not when you look like that and were kissing me how you were!” Alex yelped, covering his face in embarrassment.
“It was totally the cutest shit, promise.” Reggie nudged him. “Besides, we could totally be kissing like that with me looking at you like that right now if we hurried up.”
“This is what happens when you run several blocks to the beach, Reginald, you have to deal with a long ass walk and can’t make out with your extremely hot boyfriend.”
“It’s a shame, really.”
“A downright travesty.”
“Well what are we waiting for? Let’s run.”
“Oh you’re so on, Peters.”
“Let’s go then, Mercer.”
And the two were off, racing to get to their dorms quicker, looking forward to the rest of the night that awaited them, maybe just slightly avoiding the potential conversation they knew their friends would have with them. For now, it was just the two of them, warm and loved in the others company.

"Pleasure" flights in the space planned from 2019
Virgin Galactic logo / Blue Origin logo. July 13, 2018 Pioneering companies in the field of space tourism claim to be able to offer flights in just a few months. Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin are racing to be the first to finish the tests.
SpaceShipTwo VSS Unity attached under a carrier plane, WhiteKnightTwo
The two most advanced private companies in the space tourism market say they are only a few months away from their first flights into space with customers on board, although each remains cautious and refrains from advancing a specific date.
Blue Origin New Shepard rocket launch
Virgin Galactic, founded by British billionaire Richard Branson, and Blue Origin, by the more discreet billionaire Jeff Bezos, boss of Amazon, are racing to be the first to finish the tests. Both companies have radically different technologies. Few minutes of weightlessness For both, the passengers will not go into orbit around the Earth: their experience in weightlessness will only last a few minutes, unlike the few space tourists who paid tens of millions of dollars to travel aboard a Soyuz and of the International Space Station (ISS) in the 2000s. For a ticket much cheaper (250 000 dollars at Virgin, an amount unknown at Blue Origin), these new tourists will be propelled to several tens of kilometers, before falling back to Earth. By comparison, the ISS is in orbit at 400 km. The goal is to approach or exceed the imaginary line marking the beginning of space, the Karman line, 100 km, or the line preferred by the US military, 50 miles (80 km). At this altitude, the sky becomes darker, and the curvature of the Earth appears clearly. Virgin Galactic At Virgin Galactic, six passengers and two pilots will set up aboard the SpaceShipTwo VSS Unity, which looks like a private jet. The VSS Unity will be attached under a carrier plane, dubbed WhiteKnightTwo. Once dropped at an altitude of 15,000 meters, the ship will light its rocket towards the sky. There passengers will float in weightlessness for several minutes. The descent will be slowed down by a system of "empennage": the fins of the tail of the ship will pivot and the ship will arch before returning to normal. Then the aircraft will land on an airstrip from Virgin's "spaceport" in the New Mexico desert.
SpaceShipTwo VSS Unity
In a May 29 test in the Mojave desert, the ship reached an altitude of 35 km. In October 2014, Virgin's ship crashed into flight due to a pilot error, killing one of the two pilots. The tests resumed with a new device. Virgin has reached an agreement to open a second spaceport in Italy, at Taranto-Grottaglie airport. Richard Branson said in May, on BBC Radio 4, he hoped to be one of the first passengers in the next 12 months. About 650 customers are on the waiting list, says Virgin to AFP. Blue Origin Blue Origin has developed a system that resembles traditional rockets: the New Shepard. Six passengers will sit in the seats of a "capsule", a cabin attached to the top of a vertical rocket 18 meters in height. After the launch, which will propel the capsule to near Mach 3, it will detach and continue its trajectory a few kilometers to the sky. In a test on April 29, the capsule reached 107 km. During this time, the rocket will come down again ... and will land, slowly, vertically.
Blue Origin Crew Capsule
After several minutes of weightlessness, during which passengers can get up and look out through large portholes, the capsule will fall back to Earth, slowed by three large parachutes and retrofuses. From take-off to landing, the flight of the last test lasted 10 minutes. So far only manikin testing has been done on the Blue Origin site in Texas. But a leader, Rob Meyerson, said in June that the first inhabited tests would take place "soon". Another official, Yu Matsutomi, said Wednesday at a conference that they would be held "at the end of this year," according to Space News. And after? SpaceX and Boeing are developing capsules to transport NASA astronauts, probably from 2020 as a result of delays. Considerable investments that these companies will probably seek to amortize by offering trips to individuals.
Boeing and SpaceX Crew Vehicles
"If you want to go into space, you'll soon have four times more options than you've ever had," says AFP Phil Larson, deputy dean of the School of Engineering of the United States. University of Colorado at Boulder. In the longer term, the Russian company building the Soyuz is studying the possibility of bringing tourists back to the ISS. And an American start-up, Orion Span, has announced this year to place a space station in orbit in a few years, but this project is still very far from the day.
