'Floraison' : to bloom.
In which Hyunjae teaches you how to ice skate.
-♡-
"If I fall, I'm reporting you for attempted homicide," Y/N says as she wobbles onto her skates, not bothering to wait for Hyunjae -- who is syill tying up his laces -- before moving towards the said rink in question.
His head shoots up in alarm, "Y/N you might want to--"
She screeches, body toppling over and he reacts fast, arm quickly going round to snatch her up against his chest.
"Oops?" She throws him a bashful grin upon looking up at his concerned frown. His hand gently caresses her side as he says, "you know, you can't report me if you're the cause of your injury. You're a police officer, not superman."
Rolling her eyes at his mention of her job, she allows him to lead her to the ice rink, his hand warm against the coldness of the winter wind brushing against her face. Before her, numerous couples and families are scattered across the ice as Christmas lights bounce off their figures as merry jingles float through the air. It's a one-of-a-kind feeling, surely, but definitely magical. Y/N has loved Christmas ever since she was young, she'd celebrate it every chance she got with her loved ones and this year isn't an exception.
This year, it's even more special that Hyunjae is at her side.
"I gotta warn you, I'm bad at skating," she confesses the moment her feet touch the ice. Already, her legs feel like they might give out beneath her and she mentally curses at how ridiculous she probably looks at this moment.
But Hyunjae just chuckles whole-heartedly while grasping both of her hands in his, before he tugs her onto the ice, "you'll be fine as long as you don't look down."
"Easy for you to say," she mumbles, gripping his hands so tightly that her fingers turn white.
"I got you," he slowly moves back as gracefully as though he's done this his whole life. In comparison, she feels like a waddling duck with shaky knees and her stomach flip-flopping with a knot of anxiety, "slowly, there you go. Slide your feet diagonally. Never set them straight because otherwise you'll just fall."
"This is--oh fuck-- this is hard," Y/N grumbles and before she can prepare for it, a couple skates by with such force that she loses her balance and with a shrill yelp, topples forward, right into Hyunjae's arms.
Thank god he manages to right himself just at the right moment, legs angled to support her weight and his hands gripping the back of her elbows in a surprisingly firm hold, despite his lean frame.
Y/N looks up, dishevelled hair and all, "I'm so sorry," she squeaks out in a murmur.
Hyunjae grins back like an excited little schoolboy, "oh there is definitely no need to say sorry. I'm enjoying myself."
She responds with a glare that would've sent anyone running, "you sure talk a lot, don't you?"
"Hey, my girlfriend's in my arms and it's Christmas," he shrugs with a smile that blossoms into a grin upon spotting the lightest blush dusting her cheeks. He leans down to catch her eye, chuckling when she adamantly averts her own, "you're so cute."
"I am not," she spits out the word, "cute."
Giggling softly before sneaking a soft peck atop her nose, he grins at her stunned, slightly dazed expression, "it's a compliment, love. Better get used to it."
Y/N's heart skips involuntarily at the word of endearment falling from his mouth as he leads them patiently around the rink, her face pinking and causing her to hide it in her thick scarf. Hyunjae's smile only broadens like a permanent fixture on his face, his own heart swelling with affection for the one he holds in his arms.
Despite his constant bout of teasing, Hyunjae is nevertheless a patient teacher. He coaxes her with gentle words, a slight playful tone of encouragement whenever Y/N feels like giving up. She isn't sure how long they spend skating around in circles until the realization hits that they are the only pair left, and that the music has long died down to give way to the brisk sound of the evening snowfall.
"Your nose is all red," teases Hyunjae with a hand bopping said area lightly. Then without warning he suddenly releases her arms and skates away, much to her surprised displeasure.
"Come back here," she calls out, only for the man to pull his tongue out in response. He straightens up before saying, "skate to me first."
"What?" Her jaw drops, "no way! Do you want me to break my face?"
"Come on," he holds out his arms. Like that's supposed to comfort her, "it's easy. Just a little."
"What do I get out of this?"
"Well I'll help you out of the rink, for one."
Her cheeks deepen with colour, "that's not fair."
"Fine," he pauses, "If you skate to me I'll give you a kiss."
She takes into consideration his words, eyeing him with suspicion, "hm, tempting."
"Come on," he beckons her with his arms, and she caves in, mentally cursing at the possibility that she might fall on her face and break her jaw in the process. So slowly, with steps as timid and as shy as one of a newborn fawn's, Y/N shakily slides one foot in front of the other, and though it probably doesn't take more than two minutes to reach her boyfriend, for her it feels like an eternity before she finally lunges into the safety net of his arms.
"I hate you," comes her muffled mumble into his coat as she feels Hyunjae's arms lace around her back to pull her close.
"See?" He gives her an affectionate grin, one that makes her smile despite her earlier predicament, "wasn't that hard."
Y/N's head tilts up with a pout, "so do I still get my reward?"
Chuckles rumbling through his chest, one of Hyunjae's hands dance up to cup her jaw. Then, taking his time to take in her dark irises that he'd fallen so deeply for, his mouth finds its rightful place pressed against hers.
The girl almost falls as pliant as a leaf in his hold and her mouth opens up like a flower beneath his own, hands finding purchase onto his coat as she kisses him back with such vigor it knocks his breath out of his chest.
What is supposed to be an innocent peck turns out to be more of a chasing of one mouth to another, a dance of tongues that leaves Y/N's chest heaving as she tries to pace her breath and her heart racing like a mad horse against her chest. It is only when they part that she allows herself to breathe in the cold Christmas air that swirls around their figures, serving a soft reminder that they should head back soon.
Hyunjae's nose brushes her own when he leans back and she swears she sees the universe dancing in his eyes. A small smile curls across his lips as he presses his forehead against hers, gazing at her through half-closed lids like she's the ultimate definition of beauty itself. It makes her shiver, and he mistakes it for her being cold.
"Come on," he presses one last kiss to her forehead before entangling their handa together and slowly tugging her towards the edge of rink, back to safety, "let's get you a hot chocolate."

For my part, I have never met a human being,  Having never experienced the depths of themselves,  A moment of sadness, the facts of his life. André THOMAS Poem © SADNESS © André THOMAS
Because time passes never clears melancholy, And that each day there was a bit of nostalgia. As long as man is sensitive to these events, It will keep him, these terrible chains.
He will live his life surrounded but alone too far from happiness, Can escape from what's eating him, his misfortune. Will fail to appreciate its daily And will not find his property.
Getting up every morning with apprehension Knowing that nothing will change his situation. It will leave day flow Without any hope of return.
His life is a series of small good times, To allow it to continue logically. Focusing on only see what he sees, And not what he experienced, he will remain here under his roof.

Judy O'Grady and the Purchased Lady
While researching The Marriage of Miss Jane Austen, my trilogy on the life of Jane Austen, I ran across a fascinating book called Judy O’Grady and the Colonel’s Lady: The Army Wife and Camp Follower Since 1660. The work is titled after a Kipling poem, in which he says the poor enlisted wife (“Judy”) and the well-to-do officer’s wife (Colonel’s lady) were “sisters under their skins.” This history of women following their soldiers into battle was written by Noel St. Johns Williams, a retired UK army officer, in 1988.
As the last of my trilogy involved a military expedition, I needed to understand the campaign from a woman’s point of view. I already knew that married women sometimes followed enlisted men off to war during Austen’s time, but I did not have any details. Nor did I know whether the wives of officers, as opposed to the lower ranks, went along. This was a critical question for my series.
Williams’ book explained the process by which women—and children—generally came along. There was a limit, usually six camp followers per hundred men, plus their kids. Women cooked, cleaned, did laundry, supported their husbands in all the other usual ways, and scoured battlefields for loot. They also sometimes clogged roads, slowing the army down, or created other trouble. Women were sometimes flogged for misbehavior.
The women received only half-rations. On difficult campaigns, they would be the first to starve. If a husband died on the campaign, the woman would need to remarry, or she would be left behind, as she was no longer a wife! Wives, however, were in great demand. New widows often had multiple marriage proposals. One woman received an offer from a sergeant, only to lament that she had already accepted a corporal. Williams confirmed that some ladies did accompany their officer husbands. Susanna Dalbiac, Lady Charlotte Harley, Colonel MacKenzie’s wife, and Lady Waldegreave are individuals known to have ridden alongside their men in the Peninsular campaign of 1808-12. Sometimes the sight of a woman on horseback on the front lines would motivate the soldiers to greater courage.
Following my rules of historical fiction, I was able to work these details in naturally over the course of a dozen scenes. My rules are three: 1) Start with as much actual history as you can. Absorb it all, enabling the information to flow naturally. 2) Use as few of the details of that history as possible so you don’t bury your story in historical asides. 3) Don’t string together historical events for their sake but create your characters’ story and use only those actual events that support it.
I also learned from Judy O’Grady another fascinating point that I felt compelled to work into my trilogy: It was legal and not uncommon to sell your wife. This point came up in an anecdote in which a military drummer stopped by the Hythe market and purchased a wife who was “not more than twenty years and of a likely figure.” We think of that time as being highly religious and marriage as being sacred. Divorce was practically impossible—it took an act of Parliament, limiting divorce to the wealthy. But women were also legally the property of their husbands. Couples from the “humbler classes” resorted to sales to end a marriage. The wife had to agree and often was as eager to shed the husband as he was to shed her.
In the illustration at the top of this post, Thomas Rowlandson shows a wife sale during the Regency era–evidently from a civilian to a soldier. The wife was brought in a halter (often a ribbon), which was handed to the purchaser as a symbol of the transfer. In this instance, the wife appears pleased with the exchange.
Though the practice was controversial, the legality was upheld more than once. The sale of wives carried on from the late 17th Century to at least 1901. Sales were usually conducted at the regular town markets to establish a large audience and increase the visibility and credibility of the actions. Notices were published in the local newspaper and the woman was auctioned off like any other stock. In July 1797, The Times apologized for failing to report “the average price for Wives for the last week” at the Smithfield market near London. The newspaper added, however, that the price had been rising at Smithfield and was now about three guineas and a half. Sales in the early 1800s showed prices ranging from about two to five shillings, indicating the relative poverty of those involved. One wife went for three shillings plus a quart of ale, showing a certain joie de vivre in the pricing structure.
Many times, the sale involved a lover and was arranged in advance. One quite expensive sale at Smithfield must have been prearranged and also must have involved people of some wealth. The woman sold for 50 guineas and a horse. She rode off with her new husband in a handsome curricle.
A fiction writer would love to juxtapose this wife-selling practice against the propriety and decorum of the courtships and marriage of the gentlemen and ladies about whom Austen wrote. It was such a juicy tidbit that I tried to find several spots to place it in my trilogy about Austen herself. As a complete scene, however, it was a wonderful but irrelevant detour. Much as he might have wanted to buy Jane for seven sheep and a goat, Ashton courted her the good old-fashioned way. As a passing reference, something that Jane might have seen out a carriage window, a wife sale was too out of context for the specific scenes in which it might have happened. It would have raised more questions than could be answered in the few words warranted by a momentary glimpse. (Imagine Austen dropping in such a reference as Catherine Morland or Anne Elliot promenaded past the market in Bath.)
Unhappy as I was at the decision, I had to leave it out. Wife-selling checked off Rule 1—not many people know about this practice—but it violated Rule 2 and 3—don’t force the story to follow history if it isn’t integral, and don’t add history just to show off your knowledge. I include it here because it’s interesting enough to carry a blog, as well as to make my points about using history in fiction.
The Marriage of Miss Jane Austen, which traces love from a charming courtship through the richness and complexity of marriage and concludes with a test of the heroine’s courage and moral convictions, is now complete and available from Amazon and Jane Austen Books.

Delice | Changmin (The Boyz Christmas Series)
Tumblr media
La Joie De Noel Series.
Sangyeon | Jacob | Younghoon | Hyunjae | Juyeon | Kevin | Changmin | Chanhee | Haknyeon | Sunwoo | Eric
Delice : something delicious
In which basketball player Changmin finds an excuse to talk to you at the Christmas bake sale.
-♡-
"Christmas muffins for sale!" Y/N bellows at the top of her lungs while waving her decorat3d Christmas flagpole around, its etched words "Christmas Goodies" glittering in gold atop itd dark red material. Beside her is an old lady shooting her down with a narrow-eyed glare, probably ticked off at her enthusiasm. Not that it matters to Y/N, nothing can kill the joy brimming through her heart at the mere thought of Christmas around the corner.
"Christmas muffins!" She cries after gulping some hot steaming coffee from her traveling mug, "for sale! Three for five dollars!--"
That's when she notices a young man, awkwardly shuffling a few feet away from her stand and ducking his head away as though embarrassed by the mere thought of being here. Tilting her head to the side in curiosity, Y/N waits until his shy eyes lift up to hers and with a jolt, she recognizes him as Changmin, one of the guys from the basketball team.
Her heart summersaults. What is one of the most popular guys of college doing in a Christmas Market, of all places?
Her first thought is that he'll make fun of her, and quickly ducks away by thrusting her nose into her scarf. While she's not exactly friends with him, they know of each other as a result of being invited to the same outings, the same parties, and that's why she decides to raise a hand to wave at him, a shy greeting that borders embarrassment.
While she had secretly hoped that he'd wave and turn away to spare her any more mortification, horror surges through her when the latter moves towards her table, smiling shyly like a little boy that doesn't really know what he's doing here.
To be honest, shes' not really sure herself.
"Muffins?" She gesture towards the tray.
"You made them?" His voice is muffled against his scarf as christmas jingles echo through the air.
"Yeah, it goes to the Orphanage down my street," she flashes him a small, albeit warm smile, "what are you doing here?"
"Oh you know, just hanging around."
"Alone?" That's even more suspicious, considering that this isn't his neighbourhood to begin with. She only knows that because she has a teeny, tiny crush on him.
Changmin shuffles as embarrassment floods through his cheeks and it takes her everything not to squeal at how adorable he looks, "yeah, uh-- well-- How much are those by the way?"
"Three for five dollars. One for two fifty," her arm waves towards the signage she had placed earlier and his face reddens even more.
"Right. Cool."
"Want one? It's for a good cause."
"Uhm, actually...I wanted to--" he breaks off while scratching the back of his head, looking away to the side, "uhm. I'm not here for the muffins..."
"Oh, sorry," disappointment floods through her. You idiot, her mind screams. Of course he's not interested buying for charity, "I just thought--"
"No! I mean, it's not that I don't want to buy--"
"No it's okay Changmin, I understand," she flahses a reassuring smile, respecting the fact that different people have different perspectives of life. But he seems even more aghast at her response, for he blurts out, "no no, you don't get it I--"
"Please don't apologize, it's totally okay--"
That's when he blurts out, "You know what? I'll buy it. I'll buy the whole tray."
Huh? She blinks at him, eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "uhm, it's...that's--"
"How much is it?" Pulling out his wallet and looking flustered behind his scarf, he drops it onto the floor in haste before quickly picking it up, "sorry uhm. No seriously, I'll buy them all."
"Oh," she mumbles, "o-okay."
She takes his money before passing him the whole box, still shocked into silence by this turn of events. She should be glad actually, to have sold all her muffins by mid-morning, but a soft prick in her chest reminds her that this young man has just bought the tray maybe out of pity. The thought is enough to make her heart drop in her chest.
Her gaze falls to the table, now devoid of all treats, conflicted about what she should be feeling at this very moment. That is, until she hears Changmin clear his throat.
Looking up at him through her eyelashes, she squeaks out a soft "bye now," followed by the smallest wave of a hand.
"Uh...bye," Changmin's alto trails off though he still stands, as unmoving as ever, keeping eye contact while shuffling his feet for a moment. Then, he swivels away with the box in hand, causing Y/N's heart to drop slightly in her chest.
He suddenly turns around, "actually, no. Wait."
The abruptness has her frowning in confusion but the young man bustles on, "I--Can I have your number?"
"Huh?"
"I...uh...I didn't come for the muffins," his gaze drops away, shyness written all over his face. Stealing a shy glance from behind his bangs, he continues, "My friends told me that you...that you'd be here. So I came."
Her brain puts two and two together, "to see me?"
It's like magic is playing through her ears. That can't be right. And that shock is even more poignant when his head dips down in a single nod.
"Oh," her brain stutters to a stop. Reality kicks in, "oh."
"Sorry, I know this sounds weird and creepy, I--I think I'll go now--" he is already backing away as he speaks, causing Y/N's mouth to react before her brain does:
"Wait."
He stops. She fists her hands into her sweater sleeves.
Lord, what is she even doing? Her throat feels raspy like sand is stuck in her throat, "I'm going to pack up early since I sold out. But do you...maybe want to--uh--grab some hot chocolate?"
She doesn't realize that her eyes have glued themselves to her clasped hands before her until she sees Changmin's shoes step into her peripheral, causing her eyes to flutter up in surprise to catch his own gaze, now twinkling with warmth against the glow of Christmas lights and buetling of the crowd around them.
"I'll help you pack then," he grins cheekily, a grin filled with promises of something a feeling that blodsoms through her chest as slowly and as shyly as a baby bird rising from its nest. Her heart skips a beat though she nods, her own face lighting up with a mirroring smile.
Christmas won't be so lonely after all.

Vaut Mieux Tard Que Jamais| Juyeon (The Boyz Christmas Series)
Tumblr media
La Joie De Noel Series.
Sangyeon | Jacob | Younghoon | Hyunjae | Juyeon | Kevin | Changmin | Chanhee | Haknyeon | Sunwoo | Eric
Vaut Mieux Tard Que Jamais : Better Late Than Never.
In which Juyeon blurts out a string of words that change everything as you decorate the Christmas tree.
-♡-
"We would make a pretty good couple."
Y/N's eyebrows are already raised up to her hairline when she turns away from the half-decorated Christmas tree to look at Juyeon. The latter has his gaze averted, obviously, fiddling with one of the Christmas ornaments in that nervous manner of his that she's come to know so well.
"Where did that come from?" She asks.
He lifts his shoulder in a shrug, "just a thought. You're single, I'm single...it's Christmas and you need someone to kiss for the new year."
A sarcastic comment dies on the tip of her tongue as she digests his words. To be fair, he's not wrong considering that they have been roomates forever and actually know each other inside out just like a couple would.
She'd be lying to say that she had not entertained the thought a few times whenever her thoughts stray towards the said man. The only thing that knocks her back to reality is that mere, singular fact that Juyeon is a player, a flirt, a chaser of hearts if only to break them.
So whenever these kinds of situations come up, she always ensues to close the doors to her heart.
"I do have someone to kiss at the end of the year, but thanks for your concern," she replies dryly.
"Who?"
"None of your business," she chucks an ornament at him.
"Liar, you don't have anyone."
"I'm not lying."
"Do you know you look towards your left everytime you lie?" A smirk splays across his lips as she feels a scowl imprint itself on her face. Fuck, he knows her too well. She should've known he isn't going to take no for an answer.
"You know what? It's not like I haven't thought about it," Y/N states while standing up with the lights in hand. She slowly places it around the Christmas tree, almost walking over Juyeon unapologetically in the process, "but let's face it Juyeon, you change girls like you change socks."
His glare practically burns through her back, "that's what you assume."
"So I'm the liar now?"
"I never said that. I just think you judge me too harshly without knowing the full story."
"Okay then tell me," she flings the last piece of lights around the tree before swivelling around, yelping upon coming face to face with Juyeon's rock hard chest.
"The truth?" He leans in, closer and closer, until they are practically nose to nose. Y/N refuses to back down though, staring straight into his eyes and seeing how their hard, opaque front slowly soften the more they gaze at each other in growing silence.
"The truth," his murmur is raspy, almost breathless. Slowly, he lifts the garland in his hand and lifts it over her head, around her figure, before he tugs her to him, "is that I haven't played. Not recently anyway."
She scoffs and tries her best to keep her face neutral, though the heat flushing through her neck is as palpable as the December heat, "your point being?" She lifts her chin, silently challenging him.
"That you're the reason why."
"Why you haven't played? Give me something more than that, Juyeon."
"You are one tough cookie," he tilts his head playfully, "so, do you wanna try it out?"
"Try what out?"
"That couple thing. You know, maybe kiss..."
Chortling, she pushes him away with her hand but he resists his hold on the garland still, gaze intense and dark on her own, "so?" He prompts, "let's do it. It's not like we have anything to lose."
"Yeah, just my reputation," Y/N mumbled, allowing herself to press against his chest albeit her reluctant protests. It is true, she doesn't have anything to lose. Her and Juyeon have lived together for so long that she's certain there will be no awkwardness whatsoever. They've become so comfortable with each other's presence that the idea of not having anything to say to him is foreign, weird even.
"I promise I won't try anything else," Juyeon says, reading her face like an open book.
"Don't put your hand up my shirt."
"Scout's honour."
Taking her silence as a form of agreement, Juyeon slowly leans in and tilts his head to the side as Y/N's eyes flutter shut, her stomach curling with half-dread and half-anticipation.
He halts just milimeters from her lips, so close she feels the heat of his breath that makes her skin erupt with goosebumps, "you good?" He whispers.
She nods, right before his mouth catches her own in a chaste kiss.
It's warm. She can taste the slight hint of coke on his mouth.
Totally unlike Juyeon's usual demeanor, this kiss is soft. Almost shy. It makes the air in her lungs constrict, mouth tingling with warmth.
Pulling away to gaze down at her through half-lidded eyes, she notes the uncertainty flickering in his dark orbs and something in her heart jolts in response.
When he speaks next, his voice is hoarse, "so? How...how did it feel?"
She thinks for a moment and replies through blazing red cheeks, "I have to admit, not that weird."
There's a soft exhale on his part as they lapse into silence, trying and failing not to stare into each other's eyes before a surge of courage overtakes Y/N's logic. Hands reaching up to grasp his t-shirt, she tugs him down to kiss him some more and all thoughts seem to fly out of her head once she does.
Y/n had always known that kissing Juyeon would be something else in comparison to the chaste, shy kisses of her former crushes and boyfriends. But what she isn't prepared for is the way her knees buckle at the mere sensation of his lips parting to cup hers in a slow dance of tongues that makes her mind go into a scrambled mess of nerves and goosebumps, gasping silently when Juyeon drops the garland to grasp her waist and pull her flush against his frame.
Everything just falls away from logic and the more he kisses her, the more she wants of that delicious desire throbbing through her veins. Juyeon's physicality is the only thing that keeps her afloat and Y/N is so wrapped up in euphoria that she doesn't realize he has backed her up to the side of the room until she feels the coldness of the wall seep into her back.
A small moan slips from her mouth then, the sound encouraging the young man to kiss her even more deeply, mouth staining hers with such passion that fireworks seem to explode behind her eyelids as she writhes against him, body melting right into his and causing a soft moan to rumble through Juyeon's chest.
When they part for air, the softness in Juyeon's face glimmers with a tinge of embarrassment, chest heaving and looking just as flustered as she feels. That makes her feel a little bit better.
He licks his lips, eyes sparing hers a glance, "well..."
"Well."
"That was..."
"Interesting," she finishes for him when he seems lost for words.
He hums while ducking his face towards her neck, making her shiver. His hand at her waist brushes over her side ever so gently.
"So my mom's organizing a dinner for Christmas," Juyeon casually drops in, words muffled against her neck, "you're welcome to join."
She gives him a pointed look even when it's useless since she can only see his tuft of hair tickling her face, "are you asking me out?"
"Maybe," a soft kiss at her neck. Her chest tightens, her skin tingling with every brush of his lips.
He's teasing her and he knows it! Heat crawls along the back of her neck at the thought.
Not knowing what to do with her hands, she settles for running them softly through his dark strands and jumps slightly when the man sighs against her, before he nuzzles her collarbone fondly.
She manages to find her voice, "It's either yes or no, Juyeon. I'm not going to play your stupid game."
He probably senses the wariness in her tone because he looks up, dark maroon orbs boring into hers and causing her insides to twist together. He's looking at her like he actually cares and it's an expression that is so foreign to Y/N that she can't help but look away before swallowing thickly.
"Yes Y/N," he says in a hoarse voice, "I'm asking you out."
"Oh," she chews onto her lower lip, "right. Cool, uhm..."
She hasn't expected him to be so direct. Since when has he stopped being such a coward?
"It's either yes or no, Y/N," there's a playful smirk on his lips as he throws her sentence back at her, nose brushing against hers and making her draw in a shaky breath.
"Fine," her chin juts out defiantly and almost makes their lips ghost over each other's, "yes."
He doesn't need more encouragement. Grabbing her chin before crashing his mouth onto hers, he swallows up any sound she makes and kisses her with such intensity Y/N is surprised she doesn't collapse altogether as she thanks the lord for his grip on her waist. That thought flies right out of her head the moment his hand hooks under her thigh to pull it up, wrapping it around his waist so that he can press his frame closer to hers.
She moans softly in response while her arms slide up to grip his hair. A muffled growl echoes from the back of his throat before he parts, peppering a bunch of kisses along her jaw and up her ear which makes her squirm in his hold. Gasping slightly when his heat slowly rolls into hers as his hand slowly caresses up her thigh, another breathless whimper falls from her mouth upon feeling the warmth of his lips nibbling on her ear.
"Don't know why we never thought of doing that before," he breathes before pecking her ear slightly and drawing away.
Y/N's eyes find his, still glazed over from the young man's earlier attack while her hands drop to his shoulders. She can still feel his touch ghosting over her leg and a pool of desire floods her stomach.
"Better late than never," she says, right when he captures her lips for the nth time that day, all thoughts of Christmas now forgotten.

Quand il Neige | Sangyeon (The Boyz Christmas Series)
La Joie De Noel Series.
Tumblr media
Sangyeon | Jacob | Younghoon | Hyunjae | Juyeon | Kevin | Changmin | Chanhee | Haknyeon | Sunwoo | Eric
'Quand il neige' : when the snow falls.
In which you see snow for the first time with Sangyeon.
For @lsangyeons, my first and most precious friend and moot. I love you with all my heart. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year xx
-❤-
“It’s snowing!” the words fly out of your mouth the moment you spot the small magical crystals drifting down from the sky like fairy dust, “Sangyeon! It’s snowing! Oh my gosh! It’s actually snowing!”
“Wait really?!” Comes his muffled voice from the kitchen. For the occasion of spending Christmas eve with your boyfriend for the first time, he’d taken it upon himself to whip up a romantic dinner by candlelight. Though you hear him turn off the stove before his footsteps quickly hurry towards the window where you are currently pressed up against, nose and all.
“It’s so pretty!” Your eyes kept drifting back and forth between the ground and the sky, before you whip around without warning and yell, “we need to go out!”
He doesn’t even have time to make a grab for you before you’ve dashed to the front door to throw on your winter jacket, sling a scarf messily around your neck and stuff your feet halfway into your boots before reaching for the front door.
He’s quick to grab your hand though, whipping you around before his hands grasp your shoulders in a gentle but firm hold, “hold up there, missy,” Sangyeon has a teasing smile on his lips, a playful glimmer in his eyes as he pulls you closer, “you can’t go out half-dressed like that.”
“But Sangyeon,” you whine and stomp your foot like a child as, chuckling, he proceeds to wrap your scarf around your neck a little tighter, twicefold to keep it warm, “don’t give me that look, Y/N. You’ll fall sick otherwise.”
“You’re such a party pooper.”
“No, I’m being responsible,” he throws you a look as he moves on to your jacket, zipping it right up to your chin. You pout, making him lean down to peck your nose in affection, “now stop complaining. Where’s your beanie?”
Spotting it half-hanging off the rack, he leans over you to swipe it off before he places it firmly on your head, tucking a few stray strands of hair underneath to make it neater.
“Can I go now?” you give him puppy eyes.
“Hmm, only if you give me a kiss first,” he leans down, cheek tilted in your direction and you giggle as you poke his dimple instead before rushing out of the door, his protests dying away with the muffled sound of snow crunching under your boots.
Your head tilts up to gaze at the flurry of snowflakes descending from the sky, glimmering like sparkles whenever they catch the light from the golden hues of the street lamps, only to settle at your feet like a sheet of white fluff that glimmers in shades of gold and cool blues. You lift your hands up to catch some with your palm, gazing at the complex, elegantly-crafted crystals that look like they’ve just come out of a children’s fairytale. You like to think that they do come from a faraway land inhabited with fairies that sprinkled the sky with their fairy-dusted fingers, in hopes of bathing the entire city with the magic of Christmas.
You stick out your tongue, giggling when you catch one, its iciness causing you to crinkle your nose. Turning towards his house just in time to see him holding a phone up to his face, you hold out your arms to him, “come join me!”
His eyes are forever crinkled up in a permanent grin as he shuffles towards you and you’d be lying to say you weren’t flustered by how he is looking at you; as if you were the sole reason for his happiness. As if you’re the Christmas miracle he had been waiting for.
“What?” you can’t help but ask shyly, the softest of smiles gracing your lips. It widens even more upon feeling his arms come around you in a comforting embrace before he nuzzles his nose with yours, “nothing. You’re just so cute when you’re excited.”
You nudge him playfully, “But it’s snowing! how can you be so calm?!”
“Trust me, when you see snow practically every year for six months, it’s not that special anymore.”
“Not even with me?”
“Now you’re just fishing for compliments,” he shoots you a pointed look that you reply back with a grin, “no I’m not.”
“So are,” his hands start tickling your waist and you start writhing, backing up while half-yelling at him to stop until your foot trips over a bulk of snow and you go tumbling down, Sangyeon in tow as you both topple onto the snow-covered ground.
You laugh aloud, noticing how he’d wrapped his arm around your head to pillow your fall as warmth trickles through you.
“Now my clothes are wet!” You throw him a narrow stare, watching him lift himself up to place his elbows on either side of your head as he looks down at you with a mirroring grin, cheeks flushed red from the cold.
“You were the one who told me to come play with you,” he pushes a few strands away from your face, fingers lingering over your cheekbone.
"Hm, true that,” you poke his forehead, “guilty as charged.”
“Hey Y/N,” Sangyeon’s lips spread into a smirk, “do you wanna know what we do when snow falls?”
His eyes are gleaming with mischief. You try to scramble out of his hold, “I don’t want to know--SANGYEON!”
Too late. No sooner have you spoken that he has grabbed a fistful of snow before shoving it down your jacket. The cold is icy and it stings as you cry out in protest, shoving him off in retaliation while he laughs like a little kid.
“You bitch,” your grumble is loud enough for him to hear, which only intensifies his laughter.
“Aw I love you too,” his arms encircle you in a back hug albeit the fact that you try struggling. But you give in to temptation, throwing him a scowl for good measure.
“Weren’t you the one telling me to dress up well so that I don’t fall sick? And now you’ve shoved snow down my coat.”
Sangyeon’s lips find their way to your cheek, “I did it with affection,” and he leaves a peck there.
Your cheeks flame despite the way you deepen your scowl, “affection my ass.”
“I did!”
And then he’s whipping you around to face him, grasping your waist and pulling you closer so that his nose brushes yours, smiling gently down at you in naked adoration.
Tilting his head to the side then, his mouth finds yours in a chaste kiss that can melt any snowstorm in vicinity.
“Affectionate enough for you?” he murmurs against your lips and unconsciously your hands fist onto his coat, head woozy from his sudden attack.
He doesn’t wait for you to respond though, dipping down once more to capture your lips in another lip lock that renders your brain amok with fireworks and that tempts you to lean into him, responding to his kiss with shy pecks of your own.
As you stand there kissing amidst the falling snow, you’re too far away from the clock in the kitchen that dings to indicate the time change.
Merry Christmas.

Une Premiere | Ju Haknyeon (The Boyz Christmas Series)
Tumblr media
La Joie De Noel Series.
Sangyeon | Jacob | Younghoon | Hyunjae | Juyeon | Kevin | Changmin | Chanhee | Haknyeon | Sunwoo | Eric
'Une Premiere' : A First, included in the expression ‘That’s a first’.
In which you and Haknyeon go on a first date on Christmas Eve.
things to know:  - moelleux au chocolat : molten chocolate cake. It has a liquidy chocolate sauce inside.
I dedicate this story to:  @atbzkingdom , Dee, thank you for always bringing me comfort and for always having my back. Being friends with you on Tumblr has helped me so much this year and I wanted to write this fic for you as a gift. So I hope you like it <3
-♡-
The warmth of Haknyeon’s hand on yours was burning through your palm and making it sweat bullets even though the cold was busy biting at the rest of your body.
You were surprised that he hadn’t pulled away in disgust yet. Your mind was internally screaming at you: you had one job Y/N, and that was not to make a fool of yourself!
You wouldn’t have been in such a state if not for the sudden inclination of such events tumbling one after another so that they left you feeling dizzy with euphoria, in a mess of feelings that made you want to squirm in place.
When Haknyeon had proposed to you that it was about time you’d had a first date with him -- he had confessed his feelings a few weeks ago and ever since there was this unknown, unspoken feeling that teetered between the two of you as though you were constantly balanced on a plate about to crash at any moment -- you had agreed wholeheartedly without thinking twice about the consequences that followed.
Like right now, when you were practically unable to function because he’d intertwined his fingers with yours like it was the most normal thing he could’ve done.
You wondered whether he could hear the way your heart seemed to palpitate within your chest like a ping pong ball.
Y/N you loser. Get a grip.
The Christmas Eve market was bustling with people and shining with lights that were strung, multi-coloured LEDs adorning the pedestrian cobblestone and turning the scene in a fairytale wonderland. You could hear music, Christmas jingles that floated through the air, and managed to somewhat relax despite your initial nervousness around the said young man.
"Oh look, they have Christmas cookies,” Haknyeon tugged you along to one of the stands where a multitudes of red, green and white Christmas cookies were displayed for the occasion.
“Three for five dollars!” The girl beamed while handing out samples.
“Woah it’s good,” your eyes rounded in surprise as you looked at Haknyeon, who chuckled at your expression, “we could buy some for your grandma. She likes Christmas cookies doesn’t she?”
His thoughtfulness for your own grandmother made your heart soften. He was so considerate that you wondered how someone as angelic as Haknyeon could walk this earth.
Precisely one of the reasons why you’d fallen for him so hard.
After thanking the cookie seller and stuffing one of her Christmas cookies boxes in your bag, you followed the string of people down the line of stands filled with various Christmas-themed items; decorations for sale, gift ideas already wrapped up in their respective bags, food items that would make good appetizers for your own family dinner if you hadn’t already prepared anything.
"Oh my gosh they’re all so pretty!” You couldn’t stop yourself from exclaiming as you crouched along the row with barely restrained excitement thrumming through your veins, “what do you think? Look at this one!” you held out a glittering gold angel silhouette, “your sister would love that.”
“Yeah. Unfortunately she’s at that stage where she likes to shove everything in her mouth, edible or not,” Haknyeon grumbled softly, causing you to giggle as you tried to hang it off his ear.
He eyed you with amusement, “Do I look like Christmas tree material?”
"More like boyfriend material,” the words slipped from your mouth before you could stop them, though he just burst out laughing before tugging you closer to drop a kiss at your temple, “you’re so cute.”
Face burning with heat at his bold action, you tried your best not to show your embarrassment, which proved to be useless since he noted the way you ducked your head away and how your hands seemed to pick at your nails in that adorable way of yours whenever you weren’t sure of what you should be doing.
Deciding to warm yourselves up, you decided to stop by one of the cozy coffee shops that sold only Chocolate-themed desserts. Haknyeon’s excitement doubled when you confessed you’d never actually been to this place, quickly whipping the menu from your hands and promising that this was going to change your life forever.
“You’re in for the biggest surprise of your life,” he stated upon spotting the waitress making her way to your table. You had not failed to notice, in all this flurry of excitement, that his hand had entangled once more if yours under the table and was now currently rubbling circles over your palm.
You hoped that your face didn’t betray the way your heart was racing about hundred miles an hour.
“Y/N,” he probably noticed your expressions, “you okay?”
“Y-Yeah,” oh shit. Were you that obvious? “so what’s so special about that place anyway?”
“I’ll tell you later,” and his hand squeezed yours softly, almost making you gasp at his tenderness.
A few minutes later your table was filled with a moelleux au chocolat and a macha-dark chocolate infused crepe garnished with bananas and snow sugar, accompanied by two hot macha lattes decorated with foamy little kittens.
Haknyeon didn’t hesitate to feed you, even folding the crepe nicely so that there was no need for you to open your mouth wide. Though you made a face at being babied (especially in public), he just insistently kept on urging you until you gave in.
“Good?” he tilted his head, watching you with affection practically brimming through the corners of his eyes.
You nodded, taking a quick sip of your latte and sighing in bliss, “okay, you win. This is really good.”
“Told you it would.”
You cut into the moelleux as the chocolate oozed out of the cake, a delicious sight really. You reached over the table, “your turn now.”
Haknyeon accepted your offered fork though from the reddish tips of his ears, he was just as embarrassed as you were. This was the first time you two were out in public, officially anyway. Still, you couldn’t help but coo at how cute he was.
“I’m not cute,” he scowled while unable to keep the grin off his face, “you’re the cute one in the relationship.”
“That’s debatable,” you take another bite of the crepe, “have you seen yourself?”
“Actually I have, and I disagree with you.”
Without warning, he reached over to pinch your cheek, “look at you, so adorable,” he said, laughing as you swatted him away.
It was getting closer to midnight by the time you two hopped off the last night bus to walk towards your house, the streets alight with golden hues cast by the light posts and the snow that bathed the entire scenery in magic. A muffled silence rang through your ears, only interrupted by the soft stomping of your boots up your porch as you looked up and perceived the darkness coming from your humble abode, meaning that everyone was already asleep and no prying eyes would be peeping out at you.
Haknyeon’s grip on your hand tightened ever so slightly when you finally reached your door. Turning to meet his gaze, a small smile tilted your lips upwards when you are met with his eyes that seem to shine brighter than the snowflakes falling to the earth.
“I had a lot of fun today,” you murmur out, scared that speaking too loudly would break the magical bubble you’ve created with Haknyeon by your side, “thank you.”
"Would you...” he tilted his head to the side, eyes averting for a second before locking with yours once more, “would you be okay to do this again?”
You knew it was eating him up on the inside, but you decide to drag it out of him, pressing your lips and drawing out a hum as if you were thinking it over.
Haknyeon just shuffled uncomfortably, glad that the darkness was hiding the red flush creeping up his neck.
“Sure,” you grinned then, “why not? I quite liked it--”
And that was when you spotted a gleaming sliver of leaf atop Haknyeon’s head. Your mind stuttered to a stop, heart jumping up through your throat.
“What?” Haknyeon frowned at your shocked face, before tilting his head up. You scrambled to stop him, “don’t!--”
Too late. He gaped at the mistletoe hanging atop his head, blinking slowly.
And when his head dipped back down slowly to gaze at you, something in his eyes had shifted. His orbs a darker, glimmering obsidian as he seemed to trace your features for a full minute.
Silence. You wondered whether he could hear how your heart was beating a thousand miles an hour.
“It’s just a petty tradition,” you finally found your voice and hoped you didn’t sound so desperate as you struggled to string a coherent sentence together, “I mean, really. Think about it--”
But he only tugged you closer, causing your words to die in the back of your throat as he leaned down so that his nose brushed yours softly, “should we just...” he gave you a look, hesitantly licking his lips and making you swallow, “humour it?”
It felt like all air had constricted inside your lungs so that no words could make their way out of your mouth. He was so close, chest brushing yours and his hand entangled with your own in a firm grasp that had goosebumps skitter up along your arm.
Your head dipped into a nod.
Haknyeon’s sigh was shaky. His other hand softly skimmed along your waist to pull you closer still, before he tilted his head and softly, tenderly allowed his lips to touch yours.
Your heart skipped a beat. He was so warm. His lips so soft.
It was impossible not to melt slightly.
When it was clear that you had no intentions of pushing him away, Haknyeon proceeded to pull you even closer so that your curves blended into his frame, causing your lips to part with a soft gasp, one that he swallowed as he proceeded to kiss you a little deeper, a little longer. He massaged your lips with his own plush ones, catching your lip, kissing it, before going to your lower lip and letting his teeth nibble on the patch of skin with growing endearment. The sensation had sparks fly through your chest, butterflies practically rocking through your body as your lips gently moved back against his, as shyly as a baby fawn taking its first steps and Haknyeon would be lying to say that his own heart hadn’t leapt in excitement at how innocent you were, at the purity of your kiss, your lips.
When you parted, it was only to come up for air and he took this chance to run his thumb over your lower lip in adoration.
“Merry Christmas Y/N,” he breathed, nuzzling the side of your face before burying his nose into your hair.
Your hands wound around him in a gentle hug and you closed your eyes, allowed yourself to feel his warmth encircle you, “merry christmas Hak.”
