Business or Pleasure? - Part 1
Tumblr media
Pairing: Lee Sangyeon x Female Reader
Genre: CEO AU, Fake Dating AU, Angst, Fluff
Word Count: 3.6k
Warnings: None
Standing outside of the massive concrete skyscraper, you take a deep breath and try not to let the giant monolith in front of you - and everyone inside of it - intimidate you. From the reflection of the street-lined windows, you can see the hesitancy on your face. The overwhelming feeling that you just stepped into a role you're unprepared for threatens to drown you, but you do your best to shove it aside.
Wiping that look of fear off your face, you smooth down your business suit and turn your head side to side to make sure your hair is still in place. When you're satisfied you look exactly as you did when you left the house, you hike your bag up your shoulder and give yourself a small nod.
You've got this.
Before you chicken out, you move over to the revolving door and walk into one of the turning sections. You count to three before you come out on the other side and look straight ahead to the receptionist.
His mahogany desk sits in front of a bank of elevators that are already well into being used. Employees scurry around you as you try to take in the open first floor. Stairs disappear into the walls of each side of the building - for those brave souls who refuse to wait with twenty other people for an elevator. The thought of climbing up to one of the top floors makes you want to vomit. You already know the day you have to use those stairs for any reason will be your last one as an employee because there's absolutely no way you'd put yourself through that.
The flooring under your feet catches your attention. Flecks of gold veins run through the hard marble stone, and you're positive that this section of floor alone costs more than your apartment. That feeling of "what are you doing here" starts to bubble up again, and you force yourself to move over to the receptionist's desk before you let it take hold.
The man looks up as you approach, and you can already tell he's a little younger than you. A wide smile takes over his face, causing his eyes to crease. You can almost feel the positive energy radiating off of him.
"Welcome! How can I help you?"
The warmth in his greeting helps remove some of your stress, and you smile back at him. "Hello… I'm a new hire… I'm supposed to be starting today, but I have no idea where to go…"
"That's no problem," he smiles. "Which company are you working for?"
"Lee Technologies Incorporated…" you nervously swallow as you remember you're now working for one of the biggest companies in the technological industry.
His eyes light up. "Hey! I have some friends that work for Lee Tech! Who's your boss?"
"Lee Sangyeon."
The smile vanishes from his face so rapidly that you almost take a step back. His suddenly wide eyes and slightly ajar mouth cause your heart to tumble down into your stomach. What the heck kind of reaction is this?
Almost like he can sense your guard coming up, he shakes himself from his stupor and focuses on his computer. "Um… What's your name?"
Once you give him your identification, your eyes fall to his nameplate. Eric Sohn. Your gaze flashes back up to him, taking in the wavy brown hair and the now hesitant expression on his face. His reaction has spooked you out even more than you already were. The urge to turn around and go right back out the exit grows until his attention comes back to you.
"Looks like you're going straight to the top floor…"
There's a look on his face like he wants to say more, but he holds himself back. You gnaw on your lip for a moment before you decide to just ask.
"I'm sorry, but why did you react like that when I told you his name?"
Eric's eyes widen like he got caught doing something he shouldn't have. He shakes his head. "I was just being… Actually, can I be honest with you?"
"Please."
He takes a deep breath. "He has a reputation around here… Everyone always talks about how mean and cold he is. He has a no-nonsense attitude, and I don't think I've ever seen the man smile. I have seen him fire five people, though, and I've only been here for three months."
All you can do is blink as he stares at you, waiting for your reaction. The spooked-out look is still on his face as you process his words. You've dealt with asshole bosses before, but you have to admit, Eric's reaction is freaking you out a little. Especially considering this mean cold man is now your direct boss… and you're his personal assistant.
"But I'm sure you'll be fine!" Eric smiles, trying to reassure you. "They're probably just rumors."
His smile is anything but reassuring, and you can tell he doesn't even believe his own words, but you nod anyway.
"Thank you… I should probably go," you say, backing away from his desk and hooking your thumb toward the elevators.
"Yes! You absolutely do not want to be late!"
The two of you exchange goodbyes, and you move over to the bank of elevators, standing just behind a group that's waiting to go up. They silently watch the elevator come down thanks to the numbered panels above each door, and you think over everything Eric just told you.
What you've just learned about your new boss both surprises you and doesn't. Knowing that Lee Sangyeon is the CEO of Lee Technologies, you kind of expected that he would have the same kind of reputation as most CEOs out there - rude, unforgiving, an asshole - but to hear that he has fired so many people in such a short time is wild. To find out that his reputation has preceded him all the way to the building's receptionist is surprising.
An elevator door slides open, and you shuffle inside along with the rest of the herd. You find yourself pressed against the side opposite the buttons, and you watch as everyone punches in their floor numbers. Nearly every floor except for 75.
With an internal sigh, you ask the man next to the panel if he can push the button for you. His eyebrows raise, and you notice a couple of people glance over at you, but he eventually hits the button. Thanking him, you lean against the wall and prepare for the long ascent.
The interview you had for this job pops into your brain, and you replay it for any hints. Mr. Lee wasn't there, as he was apparently too busy, but you were interviewed by a couple of other higher-ups in the company, and everything seemed pretty professional. You didn't get the idea that they were trying to hire for a jackass or anything.
As the elevator moves higher and more people get on and off, you decide to push Eric's words out of your mind. They don't need to be there with you on your first freaking day. You need to focus on the matter at hand, not the rumors about your boss.
By the time you reach the 75th floor, you've calmed yourself, and you're once again ready to take on the day. You step out of the elevator with your head held high and approach the first desk you see.
Assumingly, the friendly older lady behind the desk is another receptionist - one for this specific floor - and you smile at her. She politely greets you, and when she realizes who you are, she stands up and comes around her desk.
"If you'll just follow me this way," she says as she begins to lead you past a series of cubicles toward the far wall of the building.
You barely get a chance to look around as you walk through because the first thing you notice is the stares from half of the room. With each cubicle you pass, more heads swivel your way. The noise of the room ahead of you gets quiet, but with each step of your foot, the murmurs behind you rise. You imagine this is the same treatment you'd get if you rolled around in a pile of pig shit and stepped into a room full of people.
Daring to meet some of their eyes, you're surprised to find pity or sympathy in them. All you can wonder is what the hell this man has done to earn such a response. Especially when you overhear someone telling someone else that you're the new mob boss's assistant.
Mob boss? Really? What's next? Are they going to call him Satan?
"Ignore them, dear," the elder lady's words float back to you. "Most of them are afraid of their own shadows."
She comes to a stop outside of a wooden door and knocks. You glance at the windows on either side of it, but the blinds are closed, effectively sealing the CEO away from the peasants. Looking over to your right, you notice a neat, sparse desk. The only thing on top of it is a computer, a keyboard, and an empty filing tray.
The door opens, and you're greeted with the sight of your new mob boss. Your heart picks up speed as you take in the attractive man in front of you, but you keep your expression neutral. Mr. Lee looks between the two of you before he moves away from the door and walks over to stand in front of his desk.
Forcing your feet to move, you step inside his office and take in the view. It's very neat and orderly with few decorations. Bookshelves take up the entire right wall, showcasing texts on computers, the internet, etc. Some of the shelves have little knick knacks and bland decor pieces. A couple of them have picture frames featuring Mr. Lee and people you assume to be his family and friends.
His desk is just as tidy as the shelves, and you quickly make a mental note that your new boss clearly likes things to be in order. No clutter, no trash. Your eyes sweep past him - because you're absolutely not ready to take in his features again - and land on the floor-to-ceiling windows that take up the entire wall behind him. The view is impressive. The entire city seems to be sprawling at his feet, and you can't help but wonder how fitting that probably is.
When the silence of the room registers in your ears, you look back at Mr. Lee and the receptionist and find them both staring at you. Realizing the lady introduced you, you walk over and shake Mr. Lee's waiting hand.
"It's nice to meet you, sir."
"You, as well," he murmurs.
You force yourself to take a step back and meet his gaze. The man is… absurdly attractive.
He's a couple of inches taller than you. Not enough that you have to tilt your heads to look at each other, but enough that it's obvious who's taller. His tanned skin peeks out at his collar, and you can't help but notice how smooth and flawless it looks. His face is adorned with prominent, thick eyebrows and a pointed nose, but the real eye-catcher is his lips - full and pretty pink.
He's a handsome man, especially with his hair swooped to the sides of his face, showing off his forehead. You ignore the fact that your heart is probably going to beat out of your chest every time you see him and focus on the fact that you're most likely gonna have to kick quite a few women to the curb for him. Great.
"That'll be all, Mrs. Park. Thank you."
Mrs. Park bows her head and turns for the door. She flashes you a smile as she goes and you find yourself smiling back. When you turn back to Sangyeon, you notice him staring blankly at you, and the smile falls from your face.
"There are a few things I expect from you as my assistant. Number one, be on time. I don't know why I have to point that out when it should be obvious, but apparently, some people just don't get it. Number two, if I ask for something once, please don't make me ask a second time. If it's something important, do it right away. Don't think it can wait for five minutes or until you're done with whatever it is you're doing."
He pauses, and you nod your head to show him you're listening. Satisfied, he continues.
"Third, try to keep your desk neat. You're an extension of me, so please don't allow your area to look messy. Lastly, I don't expect you to learn my lunch or coffee order. Don't worry about stuff I can take care of on my own. I want your focus to be on the actual work I have you doing."
"Yes, Mr. Lee," you respond because those are all very reasonable requests and ones you already expected. Well, not the food one… You expected to be his little gopher in that area.
He nods. "Great, then we should be all set. Everything else I assume you'll learn along the way. If you have any questions - as long as they're not moronic - feel free to ask me."
You ignore the last remark because you already know if you're coming to this man with a question… It's because it’s your absolute last resort.
"Your desk is right outside of my office. You're free to go settle in for now. I'll have Mrs. Park send someone over to give you a tour of the office.
"Thank you, sir." You turn to go, but his voice stops you.
"Mr. Lee is fine. You don't need to call me sir."
Glancing back at him, you see him move behind his desk without another look your way. Shrugging it off, you exit his office and walk the few feet to your desk.
It's a decent-sized desk. The dark wood makes it appear expensive. For all you know, it probably is. You settle down into the cushy desk chair, and you're pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it is. The monitor and keyboard are, of course, state-of-the-art. You can't own a technology company and give your employees crappy electronics.
Remembering your shoulder bag that's been tucked tightly between your arm and torso, you pull out the few pieces you brought and start setting up your desk exactly how you want it. Along the way, you find brand-new supplies tucked in your top drawer and a sticky note with a username and password on top of them. Just as you type the information into the computer, a figure steps up next to your desk.
Looking up, you see a younger-looking man smiling at you. His dimples immediately pop out, and his smile causes the edge of his eyes to crinkle. You'd almost think he's too young to work here, but his sharp, intelligent eyes disprove that theory.
"Hello, I'm Changmin," he introduces himself. "I've been sent to give you a tour."
His eyes flash to the windows behind you, and you feel yourself deflate just a tad more. Apparently, the entire building is convinced you work for Voldermort.
"Great! Thank you," you push your pessimism to the side and stand up. "I have absolutely no idea where anything is."
Changmin starts up the same aisle you originally came down, expecting you to follow. You quickly walk behind him as he points out the different departments that you're beginning to notice the cubicles are situated in. He shows you the supply room and where the other higher-ups' offices are, and then he shows you the break room.
Only a couple of people are in there, but they all stop what they're doing to look up at you. The sigh you make must've been louder than you meant it to be because Changmin looks back at you with a raised brow.
"Everything okay?"
Deciding to be candid, you ask, "Is everyone going to do that every time they see me?"
His lips purse to one side as he decides how to respond. "Mr. Lee has -"
"A reputation. I know."
He nods. "Look, I'm just going to be honest with you. Mr. Lee is serious. He doesn't joke around, and he won't hesitate to discipline someone. He's cold to 95% of the people who work here, and we consider it a national holiday when that man smiles."
"That's pretty much what I've been told," you glumly reply.
Changmin furrows his brows. "Who told you all of that? You've been here for like five minutes."
"The receptionist on the ground floor looked like he was going to pee his pants."
Changmin laughs and nods. "Eric. Yeah, he's heard some horror stories… Speaking of which, there's a bar down the block that some of us go to after work. You should come sometime."
Already nodding, you say, "Sure, that sounds nice… and depending on how work goes, I may need to thoroughly drown my sorrows."
Changmin shakes his head, letting a little laugh slip out before he gets serious again. "Form your own opinions about Mr. Lee because for how serious and cold he comes across, he's the best at what he does. He cares about the company and the people who work for it. He's calm, and he's got a level head. All you have to do is do your job like he asks, and you'll be fine."
Once the tour concludes, you head back to your desk. Having that conversation with Changmin has surprisingly calmed your nerves, and you feel slightly better. You're happy to know that your boss isn't a total ass. There's empathy somewhere in there.
For the next few hours, you get a handle on your job. You quickly begin to understand what Mr. Lee wants, and find that everything he has asked for is completely reasonable… You learn how to file his paperwork, he's made sure his schedule is synced up with yours, so you're aware of all of his meetings, and he's made sure you have everything you need. Everything has gone… swimmingly. Especially considering all of the warnings you’ve had about him.
Just after lunch, a nervous duo stops in front of your desk. You look up to find a pale redhead and her blonde counterpart anxiously watching you. Putting your pen down, you ask, "Can I help you?"
"We have a meeting with Mr. Lee…" The woman quietly responds. "Janette Davis and Mark Greene."
With a nod, you pull up Mr. Lee's schedule and see that he does in fact have a meeting with them. You look back up at the pair, noticing how close they're standing and how they carefully pretend not to look at each other.
Figuring you won't make them wait any longer, you stand up and motion for them to follow you. Knocking on Mr. Lee's door twice, you push open the door when he answers you.
"Mr. Lee, Ms. Davis and Mr. Greene are here."
He nods, and you back away, allowing the couple to pass you. Just before you move to shut his door and go back to your seat, Mr. Lee's voice stops you.
"Would you mind staying in here as a witness?"
Your stomach drops to your feet, but you quietly nod and shut the door. The energy of the room is tense. Mark and Janette look afraid, and you couldn't feel more awkward if you wanted to. Mr. Lee notes all of this and motions for the couple to sit in the chairs at his desk, while his gaze finds yours and he subtly nods to the couch below the windows. Quickly complying with his silent order, you take a seat and listen.
Mr. Lee's eyes carefully look between the two employees. From your vantage point, you can see Mark nervously fidgeting. Janette is sitting ramrod straight in her chair.
"I was made aware that the two of you were caught in… less than ideal circumstances during company time." He falls silent and raises a brow until they both confirm it. "I'm sure you're both well aware that I don't approve of employees screwing around when they're supposed to be working. Do whatever you want outside of this building, but when you're here, your time belongs to the company."
The couple mumbles, "yes, Mr. Lee," and he slightly nods before continuing.
"The next time I'm made aware of another incident, you'll both be transferred to other branches. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes," they simultaneously reply.
Mr. Lee's eyes find yours, and you notice his pointed stare. You sit up a little straighter when you realize this message is for you as well. He notices your reaction and then focuses back on the couple in front of him, leaving you wondering if you truly saw the quick uptick of the corner of his lips like you thought you did.
"Now that we're all on the same page, that'll be it. You can go back to work now."
The couple jumps out of their chairs and scurries from the room like it's on fire. Mr. Lee watches them flee for a moment and then focuses his attention on you.
"Everyone here gets one warning, and that includes you. Show up on time and do what you're told, and you'll be golden. Mess around and waste my time, and you'll be gone before you can even comprehend what's happening. Got it?"
You don't know why you do it. You have absolutely zero clue why the words fall from your lips. Maybe it's because his words trigger your defensive streak, but you hear yourself replying, "yes, sir," in response. This time, you're positive you see the corner of his mouth lift.

✧ m.list ✧
Sangyeon wasn't the type to believe in clichés, especially the typical ones that only happened in movies. No, it was definitely nothing more than a completely staged thing.
Or at least he's tried to fool himself since Soomin, his older sister, introduced you as her best friend.
Heart racing and almost popping out of your mouth every time you were around? Yup. Completely lose the words in your mind and start stuttering when you direct a question or a simple sentence to him? Oh yes, Sangyeon was a master at repeating that. And not to mention the redness of your cheeks when you smiled at him. It was ridiculous to have criticized every romance movie his sister watched, but to be living it all in real life. And worst of all, he had never confessed.
How would Sangyeon talk to a woman who could only see him as her best friend's little brother? How would he say he's been in love with you since Soomin made the two of you meet? And as if the icing on the cliché cake wasn't enough, your boyfriend was the most popular at the university. And for the most part, was just dating you for pure status.
Sangyeon didn't want to think about it. Even though it hurt his chest to see you with another guy, he preferred to believe that it was all jealousy in his head and that the guy really did love you – not as much as he did – but he loved you anyway.
And he hated himself for being so right after seeing you weeping, huddled figure at the front door of the apartment he shared with his sister.
“Is Soomin in?” your shaky voice and red eyes didn't deny that you had spent hours crying that day.
“No, but—” he pointed inside indicating that you could come in if you wanted to.
“I'll be back another time, thank you Sangyeon” the smile you threw his way could rip his heart out for three lifetimes. He never thought being right would be this painful.
Later Soomin confirmed Sangyeon's thoughts, your boyfriend was actually cheating on you with other girls and you only knew because that night you had forgotten your headphones in his room and managed to catch the exact moment that blonde was about to kiss him down over the bed.
It had been the final straw and the end point of the relationship had been given right there.
Two months had passed and you were grateful for having such a helpful best friend who was always by your side, especially in those moments when you swore that if Soomin hadn't been there, things could have been worse for you.
And from two months that turned into years until the end of the university you graduated from and, in addition to the degree, your intact friendship with Soomin. Except that you spent even more time with your best friend, which meant you spent a lot more time with her brother as well.
You've known Sangyeon the same amount of time you've known Soomin, it's just that you didn't notice so much at first because you were dating. But as you frequented their apartment, it was impossible not to have Sangyeon around, even more so because he was such pleasant company that even when you didn't want to stay, you insisted that he be part of the small gatherings yourself. Whether it was to drink, eat junk food or make small talk. Sangyeon always stayed with you and his sister until Soomin felt sleepy and left the two of you talking almost until the next day.
“Have you ever stopped to think that you might be in love with each other?” Soomin hummed after she drank some of her coffee, placing it on the kitchen counter as you gently pushed her arm away.
“And have you ever stopped to think that you might be going crazy?” you chuckled nervously as you sipped your coffee too, taking a deep breath in an attempt to push that kind of thought away.
How could someone like Sangyeon fall in love with you? It didn't make sense in your head.
And it was that phrase that echoed so much in your mind until you said it out loud at Soomin's birthday party. You were drunk, but that didn't stop you from confronting your best friend about how you felt. That had given every possible indication that you felt something for Sangyeon, but he couldn't feel the same way about you.
"Maybe you don't know that much about it, young lady" she pinched your reddened cheeks from the drink, smiling right after "Sangyeon likes you."
“Of course, just like you” your sneer came out quickly and she laughed, removing her hands from your face so she could link her arm through yours.
“Stop being silly, y/n! He really likes it and I'm saying it because I know” and because he told me, Soomin thought, but didn't want to make fun of something she knew her brother might say in person, “So how about looking for him and talking about it?”
"Soomin..."
“As my birthday present, please?” she pouted and you swore you wanted to break up with your best friend for a few seconds, but you took a deep breath and decided to take the test. If she was that convinced, maybe it was true. Or maybe not and you could know for yourself, if Sangyeon denied it, it was easy to tell that you was so drunk the next day that you wouldn't remember anything that had been said. Life would go on and you would pretend not to go through so much embarrassment.
So you went through that house after Lee Sangyeon and almost wanting to hit Lee Soomin because she entered your mind at an absurd speed to the point of making you go after the guy you're liking.
“This can only be a joke” you repeated to yourself as you walked among those drunk and overjoyed people with the music that was playing at the party. Soon reaching the back garden where games were taking place and many people were really crazy, your eyes wandered among them until they found him. Sangyeon was there in a game that you at least knew what it was, but seeing him concentrated among his friends was amazing, really.
His face was serious, his tongue flicking between his lips as he thought of the answer because it clearly felt like his turn to play. And after Sangyeon replied, the friends ran to hug him. Surely he'd got whatever the answer had been.
You just didn't count on the girl clinging to his neck.
Another blonde? You thought to yourself and felt your stomach turn, if that were so you would be angry with all the blondes in the world for the simple fact that none of them bring you a good memory. This couldn't be happening. You felt your vision blur even more and you were about to call yourself crazy when you noticed his gaze tracing the whole party until he reached you.
Sangyeon's eyes hung on yours which had been teary for a while, and when you blinked, a few tears wet your face that were soon wiped away so quickly that you at least felt it.
He freed himself from the girl and it is not known how many seconds it took for him to run and reach you.
“Y/n, hi” he breathed heavily “Are you ok?”
“Yes, it’s just—”
“Come with me” Sangyeon gently took your hand and pulled you into the party. Crossing the entire house to the front yard and finally getting away from that music that was starting to get a little annoying.
“What are we doing here?” at first everything seemed a little confusing, because you were the one who was going to talk to him, but he was the one who had pulled you to talk.
Little did you know that Soomin had already spoken to her brother before the party even started. The conversation with you had been her pretext to find out if the plan to bring her younger brother and best friend together would work according to her thoughts.
“I want to tell you something” Sangyeon was right in front of you and the dim street light was the only thing that gave a good view of each other. He was even more handsome than usual that night and you were grateful that he had started talking, or you wouldn't be able to start a conversation you were so nervous.
“Speak up, I can hear you” you smiled gently at him as you watched him approach, enough so that Sangyeon was able to place a hand next to yours.
" I'm in love with you."
"What?" you almost screamed, startling him at first, but making Sangyeon laugh after a while.
"I know it's weird and sudden, but I love you" he closed his eyes for a few seconds, maybe that gave him even more courage to continue "I'm in love with you and all these little things that make up you."
His heart was pounding so hard that he'd probably already heard it just through the silence of the street and the sound of the two of you breathing. You chose not to intervene, letting him continue.
“From the first moment I saw you, when Soomin introduced you, knew I was screwed because then I fell in love with you” he chuckled to himself at the thought of starting college. Surely his nerves were on edge that day, but that never changed his feelings for you "And I'm amazed at myself that I know and feel so much about someone I never had the chance to confess."
“You are having it now” your voice made him open his eyes, his gaze was so bright that Sangyeon would have to hold it to continue talking “And what do you know about me, Lee Sangyeon?”
"Smile for me" he asked and you didn't understand very well, but you did it anyway hoping that smile wouldn't look so much like a grimace "You've never loved the crinkles by your eyes when you smile, but seriously, they are the most beautiful things that I've seen it in my life” now you felt like screaming and crying, how did he remember that? "And you've never loved the sound of your voice on tape, I know that from the countless audios you sent to Soomin and then complained about your own voice."
“Were you listening to our conversations?” you narrowed your eyes in mock annoyance, he just laughed.
“I also know about your love for tea and all the times you couldn't sleep without having a cup of tea” he nibbled on his lower lip to suppress a smile “And I confess I loved it when my sister went to bed early and you asked me to make tea.”
Maybe I did it on purpose, your mind spoke. You could tell him that later, but you didn't want to spoil the moment when Sangyeon seemed to know you so well.
“I know this all seems strange to someone who was always around, but never had the courage to say it” he then sighed loudly, closing his eyes again “But I didn't want to take advantage because when I realized I knew about all this and about how much I loved you, you were still healing from everything that had happened with your old relationship” Sangyeon said quietly as if afraid to say something out loud that hurt you so much.
“Actually, you said at the right time” your free hand wandered all the way down Sangyeon’s arm until it reached him face, caressing the soft skin as he closed his eyes even more “I needed to hear this here and now to be sure.”
“Sure I love you?” he whispered "That I'm in love with the little things that make you whole?"
“Sure of that and that it was fate all along connecting the dots for us to be here.”
Standing on tiptoe you did what you felt like for a long time, sealing Sangyeon's lips until he relented and gave way to deepen the kiss. The quiet kiss compared to the rapidity of both hearts beating as he pulled you closer and wrapped his hands around your waist to hold you against him.
It was clear that the two wanted that, and it became even clearer with each intensity that the kiss took until you both needed air and parted at the end of the kiss.
“And I know one more thing” Sangyeon whispered breathlessly after kissing your lips once more, still slowly tasting your taste even more and making you smile. With a murmur coming from you to show you were listening to him, the guy decided to continue “I know your hand fits in mine” he slid his hand from your waist to take one of your hands again, intertwining his fingers with yours so softly that you can feel the softness of his palm “Like it's made just for me.”

“Recite the history of the Gifted,” your tutor ordered you monotonously, not once looking up from the leather-bound book in her hands.
You shifted in your seat, hands toying with the dry nib of the quill that laid on your desk before answering. “More than five hundred years ago, four families were given a gift from the heavens in the dead of night. When their eldest children woke, they found themselves with the gift of summoning.”
“Summoning, what?” She grumbled, annoyance lacing her words.
“The spirits of the dead from the netherworld,” you responded, dipping your quill into your glass inkwell.
“Good,” she said, “Continue.”
You sighed quietly and lifted your quill over the piece of parchment in front of you, letting the black ink on the nib drip onto the page. Then you started doodling. “Chaos ruled the world before the Gifted, and the King was of no help to his people. But, the four children used their gifts to bring peace and tranquility to our kingdom. Then they, along with the rest of the populace, decided that one of these four should be the crowned ruler. Not only because they brought peace and tranquility but because the people believed that it could only be kept if one of them became the ruling monarch. So, the strongest was decided to rule.”
“Good. Good,” she murmured off-handedly, “What came then?”
“The dividing. It was decided— though there’s no clear record of who— that our lands should be divided into four parts. One for each of the families to protect. Now, each family lives on a portion of land that borders the never-ending forest, miles away from town and secluded from the rest of the kingdom. The west went to the Angelos, to east the Mons. The Lee family took the north, and our family took the South; and, the King took the center of the kingdom.”
“What else?” Your tutor huffed, “You’re forgetting crucial details yet again. What were they?”
You bit your lip to keep yourself from snapping. You hadn’t forgotten anything. It was impossible after having your kingdom and your familial history drilled into you every day since you were able to read and write. You had simply chosen not to say anything about it.
“They are peace, prosperity, and safety. It was prophesied that our kingdom will only prosper and live in peace for a hundred years, so long as a Gifted takes the throne. Even after they are gone, and the kingdom waits for new Gifted to born and present as such, the kingdom will live in peace, so long as the hundred years haven’t ended.”
“What about the throne?”
“No one else is allowed to sit on the throne besides a Gifted,” you finished, resting your chin in the palm of your hand and turning your head to the tall arched windows to your right that showed you your home’s backyard and the entrance to the southern never-ending forest.
You turned to look at your tutor again. Her nose was still buried deep in the book in her hands, and she had yet to notice that you had finished responding.
“May I leave now?”
The words were like a trigger, she stopped reading the book in her hands, and her head snapped up to glare at you, eyes narrowing into slits. She snapped the book shut with a single hand before speaking.
“Leave? Your lessons for the day have only just begun.”
“Lesson from a book that I have learned and relearned a countless amount of times. I doubt there are any words in that book that I haven’t already heard read to me since I was a child. Or that I haven’t studied myself.”
“I am your tutor, and I will be the judge of that,” she hissed, taking a step toward you menacingly before righting herself and plunging into the book again. “Cockiness is not a virtue befitting the future monarch. You would do well to remember that.”
Now it was your turn to narrow your eyes, “That wasn’t cockiness. That was fact.”
“Is that so,” she said mockingly, “then, pray tell, what consists of the ritual you will have to undergo to claim the throne?”
“You mean…” you smiled coyly, leaning over your desk toward her like you were about to share a secret, “You mean you don’t know?”
“Of course not,” she scoffed, “Tell me. What is it?”
You took a look around the room as if you were making sure there weren’t any extra pairs of ears listening, then waved her closer, “Well, you see….”
She nodded, invested in your words.
“You aren’t blood.”
Her jaw clenched, and she yanked the piece of parchment off your table and stepped into the light by the window. She took one glance at it and smirked, “Drawing while you’re supposed to be studying? I’m sure your parents would love to hear about this.”
“Of course,” you agreed, “I’m sure my parents would love to know you are incapable of “teaching”… me properly.”
It transpired in a nanosecond, you couldn’t be sure it had happened, but you thought it did. Your tutor growled. Then, proceeded to rip the parchment into little pieces. She glared at you. Was that a glint in her eyes, or was the sun playing a trick on you?
She stepped toward you menacingly.
“I wouldn’t do whatever you were just planning to if I were you,” your cousin’s voice spoke up from the entrance of your study.
“Lady Hye,” your tutor greeted as she retracted her steps, “My apologies, but I fear I do not know what you are referring to.”
Olivia studied your tutor silently from the door with her arms crossed. She hummed when she stepped forward a few moments later, “Is that so?”
You noticed the sword hanging off her hips, sunlight hitting it just the right way for it to glint. You wondered if your tutor had noticed the sword at your cousin’s side too.
“I think it would be best if you took your leave now or I will need to have a talk with my dear aunt and uncle.”
“B-But,” she stammered, “the day’s lessons have just begun.”
“From what I’ve seen, the day’s lesson is something my dear cousin already knows by heart, and I very much doubt that forgoing today’s review will be damaging,” Olivia said, meeting your tutor’s eyes in an unwavering challenge until she relented.
She stepped toward you menacingly.

“Very well,” she nodded.
She had brushed past Olivia, and only a couple of steps remained between her and the door when Olivia spoke to her again.
“I believe you have forgotten something.”
“Pardon?” Your tutor asked quietly.
“The book,” Olivia said, twisting around to look at her, “does not belong to you, and it certainly does not leave this household.”
Your tutor gulped and wordlessly scurried back into the room to place it on one of the bookshelves that had been added to the room.
You waited until the door closed behind her to release a breathless laugh, a wide smile growing on your face.
It was inconceivable to you how much power a knight-in-training could hold, yet here you were, witnessing it in the form of your cousin. A moment later, you had pushed your chair back and ran to envelop your cousin in a hug.
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much, Olivia!” You said. “Every day I spend with her feels like a never-ending reissuing of our history.”
“She goes over our history that much?”
“More than you can imagine,” you nodded. “It’s tedious and repetitive. But, now that you’ve made her go away for the day, I can spend the day outside for once!”
“Y/N—” Olivia began, a sad weariness coming through in her voice.
“Oh, please,” you pleaded, already taking steps backward toward the arched glass doors. “Knights-in-training are rarely allowed to leave the training grounds, and I never get a day off either.”
Truthfully, every day you spent in lessons with your tutor felt like a special type of torture that you had yet to grow accustomed to.
Your study was actually the house’s old greenery. Various plants and flowers used to be grown here, hence the large paned windows. Growing up, you had spent the majority of the time you didn’t spend studying, playing in the greenery, or near the edge of the forest.
When you had turned ten, your parents had taken your love for nature into consideration for your studies and informed you that from then on, you would be having daily lessons in the greenery. You’d understood that you would be spending less time outside, but at least you’d still have the greenery to comfort you.
Then, you saw it, your new study. To call it a greenery was to mock you. It wasn’t a greenery anymore, there were hardly any green, any plants, in there besides the potted ferns near the window and vines wrapped around the windows and running through the roof.
They’d emptied it and put in bookshelves, a large desk for your tutor and a small one for you.
“Please,” you repeated to Olivia, “Let’s go explore the outskirts of the forest. We haven’t done that in a while. I haven’t been able to do that in a while.”
“Y/N,” Olivia cringed, “I’m really sorry. But, I was sent here on business.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, the Council sent me here to be your personal guard today. They thought it would be best if a family member was your guard for the night.”
“Why do I need a guard?” You asked. “I’ve never had to have someone guarding me before unless I was going into town.”
Olivia studied you for a moment before answering you, “You... you don’t realize what day it is, do you?”
“Friday,” you shrugged, “just a day before the weekend, as far as I’m aware.”
She chewed on her lip, contemplating if she should be telling you the truth or not. Then, she realized that even if you didn’t like what she had to tell you, it would be better for you to know what you were walking into.
“It’s your birthday, Y/N. You’re twenty-three today.”
“And?” You shook your head, still not understanding what your birthday had to do with needing a guard. “What of it?”
“The Lee heir. He’s twenty-three too. Turning twenty-four this year. You’re both officially the same age, and they’ve decided that it’s time for the new monarch to be chosen.”
“What?!” You yelped. “Today?!”
Panic began to settle in the pit of your stomach. It was too much for you to take in at one go.
It wasn’t a secret, especially to you, that one day you’d have to partake in the crowning ritual, and that day was always getting closer. You knew your parents expected you to win the crown— being that they believed your own gifts were stronger than they ever had been for any of your ancestors (but really, how could they be sure of this) and the fact that you were one of the only two heirs to the throne in existence.
The possibility— or certainty, if your parents were the ones being asked— of you sitting on the throne had been ingrained into you since you were a baby, the same day you’d been born, and they noticed the olive branch-shaped birthmark on your left shoulder blade.
It was inevitable that this day would come. But, you had always imagined you’d get some sign, some warning that the day was around the corner.
Maybe someone would finally tell you what the ritual was, what it consisted of, and what you would have to go through to discover if you were or were not meant to rule.
“No,” Olivia shot down quickly, trying to calm you. “No, the ritual isn’t today. But, a ball is being held in your honor as a way to officially present you. All of the noble families will be there, except for—“ she made a motion with her hands that let you know you were supposed to know this, “the Lee family. They’ll be having a ball of their own later, which we will not be attending.”
You swallowed a breath. It sounded tedious and ridiculous to hold two balls when there could just be one. But, tensions ran high between the Lee family and yours, being that the only two you were the only two Gifted families still in existence because of a freak accident.
“Why now?” You forced yourself to ask.
“Because the two of you are exactly two years from marrying age.”
“So?”
“So they’ve decided that it’s finally time for the two of you to compete for the crown. Besides,” Olivia hesitated, “the Lee family has been pressuring for the commencement of the ritual since their heir is a year older than you. They’re hoping it’ll be to his advantage, he’ll be able to win the throne, and then they can marry him off.”
You sighed, “I’m guessing they’ve already found the person he is to marry, then. Hence the pressure for the ritual. When’s the ball?”
“Tonight.”
You stared at her unblinkingly, the way she had been staring at your tutor. Then, silently, you nodded, accepting that this was your fate.
“Your mother already set the clothes she would like you to wear. They’re new. From the tailors in town. Everything’s already in your room.”
“Okay,” you said. You nodded, though you weren’t sure if it was to her or yourself, and a second later, you were making your way toward the door.
Olivia followed behind you, her head held high, but her eyes clouded in thought. She felt as if she could feel waves of resignation coming off you. She was trying to think of what she could say to console you and grew frustrated as the words refused to form. Then, she realized that maybe there were no words that could console you.
“You didn’t remember it was your birthday today, did you?”
“No.”

“Our kingdom has indeed seen better days; two of our Gifted families are gone, and we haven’t had a Gifted on the throne in more than two hundred years. But, the wait is over! Princess Y/N is of age, and the time for the ritual is among us. May she bring peace to our kingdom. Long live the Y/L/N family to care for our kingdom!” A nobleman in attendance made a speech from the elevated platform at the front of the ballroom.
“Long live the Y/L/N family!” The rest of the noble people echoed, clapping after they were done.
You smiled at everyone who turned to look at you, uttering silent thank yous. Their attention wasn’t only on you, though. They turned, and clapped for your parents too, who grinned from ear to ear and basked in the attention.
The people here were noblemen, noblewomen, and nobles that you were sure would appear at the Lee ball and cheer for their heir just like they were cheering for you.
Did they think neither of you would realize they were cheering for one before turning around and doing the same to the other? Or that you knew that they were kissing up to your parents in hopes that they would be given some special “reward” once you were crowned?
As if you weren’t the one that was going to be wearing the crown?
Being the reigning monarch was inevitable, as your parents liked to say. You knew it was possible, and you’d been raised to believe that you were the future monarch, no other possibility as possible.
“The Lee family is no match for our family blood.”
They surrounded your parents as the music began again, and you tried your hardest to stay still and blend in. But it only took a second to break your moment of peace.
“Kim Younghoon is heading this way,” you whispered to Olivia, pulling on the sleeve of her dress to get her to follow you as you avoided looking in his direction.
“You should give him a chance—“
“Olivia, please.”
“Alright. Alright. Lead the way.”
You weaved through the guests, leading Olivia through portions of the ballroom that had groups of people huddled together eating and talking, hoping that the looping you were going through to get to the main door was enough to lose Younghoon in the crowds.
When you finally made it outside the ballroom, the heavy doors closing silently behind your cousin, you released a sigh of relief.
“You should really give him a chance, you know.”
“Olivia,” you whined.
“You know my aunt and uncle are hoping…”
“I don’t like him. Not like that.”
“Y/N,” Olivia insisted.
“Olivia,” you sighed, pinching your nose in annoyance, “May I please have some peace?”
There was a moment of tense silence before you spoke again, “I’m going to explore the castle.”
“You can’t do that.”
“I can’t?” You snapped. “I thought this was my castle. After all, that’s what my dear parents say.”
Olivia’s jaw snapped shut, and her eyes narrowed. It took her a second to answer you, and when she did, she did it through clenched teeth. “Everyone will notice if you’re not present at your own ball.”
You grabbed the skirt of your dress in frustration, glaring at her the same way she was glaring at you. Although it made you angry to admit it, and you wouldn’t at least, not out loud, she was right. Everyone in attendance would notice you weren’t around at some point. The dress your mother had sent to be made for you was a bright red and covered in gold embellishments.
If the guests didn’t notice you weren’t there, your parents surely would.
“Exchange clothes with me.”
“What?”
“Switch clothes with me.”
♚♕♚♕☈♚♕♚♕☈♚♕♚♕☈♚♕♚♕☈♚♕♚♕☈♚♕♚♕☈♚♕♚♕☈♚♕♚♕
You tiptoed quietly through the castle’s hallways, the heels of your heels becoming your enemy every time they came a centimeter close to the floor rather than the lantern that you carried to light your way. You almost wanted to huff every time you saw a guard walking through the castle, a lantern of their own in their hands. If Olivia had traded shoes with you, you’d have one less thing to worry about. The flats she’d been wearing made it easier to be silent. Your heels did not.
You were sure that had been out of pettiness.
Still, you were grateful that she had at least traded clothes with you. Now, instead of the red gown your mother had bought, you wore a dull lilac-colored dress.
Your hands trailed along the golden-colored decorations that had been molded against the marble walls. They weren’t faded like the designs that had been painted onto the walls of your own home, and there wasn’t any dust either. But, the pungent smell in the air told you everything you needed to know.
They’d been painted recently.
“To make a home,” you whispered to yourself, remembering the history of the castle that you had been taught, “for the one who communes with the dead to feel a little warmth.”
Of the few ghosts you had interacted with while you were training, only one had ever truly made you feel a bitter coldness that reached your bones.
You failed to see how a bit of gold paint could help you feel warmer.
You brought your lantern closer to the wall to study the curves and swirling decorations that protruded from the walls. They’d been painted carefully, but you could still see bits of old, worn paint where the molding met the wall.
Perhaps that’s why most of the lanterns on the walls hadn’t been lit. They didn’t want anyone to see the castle had been under recent renovation. Or, they’d hoped that they could stop guests (maybe even you) from wandering around the castle if the halls were plunged into darkness.
It was a pity that there weren’t any windows in the hallways that were deep inside the castle, though all they would do would be show you the interiors of the rooms there. Moonlight would have been nice to see the more intricate details.
Still, that hadn’t stopped you from delving deeper into the castle.
You’d thought you were utterly alone when you turned another corner, this time your heels accidentally clicking against the marble floor, causing you to freeze on the spot. You heard the scuffling of heavy boots against the floor behind you, and you knew you had to go.
As quickly as you could, you slipped off your heels, held them in one hand, and ran across the long hallway. Your feet padded against the cold floors as you headed toward a pair of large, ornate doors that came together to form an arch. It was the last door before the hallway split into different directions.
You opened the doors as quickly as you could, thanking the fates when you found it unlocked, and slipped inside.
You were awestruck. The room was larger than you would have thought. It was dimly lit and had large arched windows that let the moonlight inside. There was a couch to your right, positioned in front of an unlit fireplace, with an unlit candelabra hanging above it, and to your left were rows upon rows of bookcases, forming dark aisles to get lost in.
“Wow,” you whispered when your voice came back. There had to be more than just history books in there.
You tossed your heels onto the couch mindlessly before making your way into the passages, using the lantern in your hand to light your way. The lanterns that hung off the cases hadn’t been lit, and you had to use your own to see where you were going.
You studied the books you passed as best you could— leather bindings, golden, cursive lettering, but none of them caught your interest. In the distance, you caught sight of a single flickering lantern, and though that should have raised alarm bells, you walked toward it.
Like a moth to a flame, you found yourself in front of it, casting a shadow on the books that its light touched.
You looked around quietly, searching for whoever might have lit the candle. You found nothing, and it sent a shiver down your spine. Something felt… off.
It felt like the first time you had accidentally summoned a ghost. No, you realized, that had been jarring. Right now, everything felt more… menacing, evil, like there was something wrong, and it was headed your way.
You shook your head. You were being paranoid.
You comforted yourself with the light the two lanterns cast,  and rather than running back to Olivia, you reached for one of the books in front of you. Its lettering shined more than the others like it had been taken care of more than the others. It intrigued you.
You had just pulled the book from its spot when you found yourself staring at the ashen face of a smiling man that looked no older than you did.
A startled yelp raced its way past your lips as you retracted your hand as fast as you could, knocking down some of the books that had been positioned next to the one you had picked.
It took you a second to compose yourself, then you huffed at the man. You hadn’t summoned him.
“Forgive the intrusion, but, I don’t believe you’re supposed to be here,” he grinned cheekily.
You said nothing, but you studied him carefully. One of his arms laid across the shelf nonchalantly while the elbow of his other pressed against it. His chin rested in the palm of that hand. Even more, his smile was so mischievous that you weren’t even sure you had ever seen one like it before. The corners of his eyes were even crinkled in mirth.
What was he? The ghost of a previous royal librarian?
You brought your lantern closer to him, hoping the light would help you see any defining details on him that would tell you who he was, and then you saw color. He was alive.
Horrified at the sudden discovery, you bowed your head, “My apologies. I shall take my leave.”
“No, wait. Hold on,” he said, rushing after you as you made your way back down the aisle in the direction of the couch. “I wasn’t kicking you out. I’m Sangyeon, and you are?”
His question struck you, and as you sat down, you pondered if he really didn’t know who you are.
You looked down at the book in your hands— Dragons.
“I don’t suppose you’re going to tell me your name?”
Silence was enough of an answer. He got up while you flipped through the book. You’d just gotten captivated by the content of the book when he came back a minute later and placed some logs in the fireplace.
It was only a moment before it was roaring to life, and you were flicking your gaze away so he wouldn’t know you had been watching.
“Can’t exactly read without light, right?” He said as he sat down next to you again.
You stayed silent for a moment, questioning if it was a good idea to answer him.
“No, I suppose not. Thank you.”
Silence encompassed the two of you as you returned your attention to the book in your hands, letting the crackling fire chase away the cold you hadn’t even realized you were feeling. Out of the corner of your eyes, you could see him opening a book of his own. He flipped through a couple of pages before setting it down and turning to look at you again.
He fidgeted.
“I love that book you’re holding. It’s an interesting read, right? The draconian living conditions of this kingdom before the arrival of the Gifted,” he motioned to your book, smiling as he talked before suddenly rubbing his hands on his thighs nervously.
You could only assume that he was doing this unconsciously.
“This is about dragons.” You lifted the book to show him the engraving on the cover.
“So it is,” he said flustered, laughing embarrassedly. “Anything, uh, anything good in there?”
You bit back the smile that wanted to leave you. His flirting was surprisingly endearing.
“Do you flirt like this with everyone you meet?”
“Horribly?” He chuckled shyly.
“Just a bit,” you smiled at him, hoping he’d understand that you weren’t saying it maliciously but teasingly. He didn’t miss a beat.
“I don’t suppose that means I’ve ruined any chance to speak to you?”
You smiled. You didn’t understand why but he was starting to grow on you. Maybe it was the warmth of the fire putting you at ease, but you gaunt yourself giving him a chance.
“You’re sort of doing that right now.”
He grinned, “That’s right. I’m Sangyeon.”
“I’m—“ you extended a hand for him to shake, “not telling you my name. You’re a stranger and could easily turn around and give my name to the guards behind us.”
“What?” He asked, alarmed, twisting around to look behind himself.
“I’m just kidding,” you laughed.
“That was not fair,” he huffed, a ghost of a pout forming on his lips.
“Not fair?” You said incredulously. “It’s completely fair after the scare you gave me! Besides,” you smiled teasingly, “now I know that you aren’t supposed to be here either.”
He smiled again shyly, bowing his head bashfully.
“That’s… fair,” he nodded. “May I at least have your hand?” He asked.
“Of course.”
You extended a hand for him to shake. He took it gently and placed the softest of kisses you had ever felt on the back of your hand.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, my Princess.”
“Princess?” You tensed.
“What else am I supposed to call someone as beautiful as you?
“Without the knowledge of my name, I guess nothing else.”
“Then we’re agreed.” He chuckled, having yet to let go of your hand.
You shook your head, amused at the turn he’d taken. You could almost swear that you could see his confidence growing as he locked eyes with you and smiled widely. It had to be confidence,  as he was puffing his chest out ever so slightly.
You let him have the moment before teasing him again when he began to play with your fingers.
“Don’t you think you’ve held my hand long enough? I hardly know anything about you. A bit improper.”
Sangyeon let your hand drop quickly, turning into a blushing mess in the blink of an eye.
“I’m- I’m sorry.”
“I’m teasing,” you grinned, “But, I really don’t know anything about you.”
“Ask till your heart’s content,” he said, shifting his position on the couch so he could face you.
You chuckled at this and copied him, taking it a step forward and scooting forward so that your knees touched.
You hummed, “What do you do?”
“What do I do?” He laughed.
“Well, you’re clearly not the royal librarian.”
He nodded, “I’m an apprentice, of sorts, for a scholar.”
“Really?” You asked.
He nodded.
“Well, what subject are you the most interested in?”
“Well,” he began, tilting this head from side to side. “I’ve taken a liking to botany and astronomy, though,” he rubbed the back of his neck bashfully, “I’ve also taken a liking to cooking. I know that’s not something scholars typically.…”
“Cooking is probably the hardest subject I can think of,” you grinned. “I know nothing about cooking. Botany, on the other hand…” you trailed off, leaning closer to him as if you were about to whisper a question to him, “now that I know a little something about.”
“Oh, do you now?”
“Mmm,” you nodded, “I grew up surrounded by nature, actually. Even hung around this beautiful greenhouse for most of my childhood.”
“A greenhouse,” Sangyeon nodded, then leaned in just like you had, “So, what do you know?”
“A lot,” you whispered to him. “But, I’m not telling you any of my secrets.”
“No?” He whispered just the same.
“No,” you giggled.
It was one of those things that you didn’t notice until you were moments away from it happening. The two of you had leaned in closer to the other as if you were whispering secrets to one another that no other should hear. But, like magnets, you’d gravitated closer and closer together until you were giggling with your faces only centimeters apart.
It wasn’t until your nose brushed against his, and you froze, that you realized how close to him you were. A moment later, he froze, and you knew he realized it too.
Then time seemed to stop.
The smiles fell off your faces, and your eyes flicked over to his parted lips.
Why? Why did it feel like you were being pulled forward?
You lifted your gaze to meet his bashfully, but instead, you found him staring at your lips just the same. Your breath caught in your throat.
Closer and closer and closer. Your eyes fluttered shut.
Your lips ghosted over his, and you swore you could almost feel his lips coming into contact with yours.
“Y/— Get away from her!” You heard Olivia yell before you were pulled backward.
Your eyes flew open as your back hit the body of the couch. Stunned, you could only gasp as you watched Olivia punch Sangyeon in the nose.
“What are you doing?!” You yelled, throwing yourself forward to grab Olivia by the arm and pull her away.
“What are you doing, Y/N?!” She yelled. She stared at you disbelievingly, waiting for you to answer, and when you didn’t, she huffed. You grabbed your heels clumsily, having no time to put them on as she pulled you to the door.
Confused, you pulled your arm out of her grasp, “Look, I know he’s a stranger—”
“A stranger?!” Olivia snapped, “He’s a Lee! He’s the Lee heir.”
“What?” You asked quietly.
You stared at her for a second before whipping around to look at Sangyeon. You wanted him to deny it, to say Olivia was wrong. He wasn’t a Lee. He couldn’t be a Lee. He wasn’t. Right?
But, all he did was stand up and wipe the blood off his face with the sleeve of his shirt. He shot Olivia a glare, then met your eyes.
“You’re… a Lee?”
He nodded at your question, then returned his gaze to Olivia.
“Look, I know I know snuck into the castle, but that’s no reason to punch me. I didn’t come here to screw up your family’s ball, alright.”
“You’re the Lee heir?” You asked again.
He nodded again. He took a step forward, and you took a step back. “I—” he’d begun to speak before getting cut off by Olivia.
“You didn’t come here to screw up the ball, but you did come here to make out with the Y/L/N heir?” She scoffed.
“Y/L/N?” He asked like you had, meeting your eyes.
But, rather than giving him an answer, you stayed silent and took another step backward.
“I can’t believe it,” you mumbled quietly. “Come on, Olivia—” you pulled on her arm this time, urging her to follow you out, “we have to go before they notice we’re both gone.”
“Wait,” you heard Sangyeon say as you turned your back to him, footsteps following yours.
Then, as you crossed the door and Olivia followed you, you heard her spat out, “Stay the hell away from her, Lee.”

“Welcome to Wingz Express, how may I help you?”
You pulled down your hood as you walked into the shop. The gentleman behind the counter was quite handsome, and more focused on the white cat in its arms. When he looked up at you he offered a smile, standing up.
“What can I do for you?”
“Uh… hi… I was wondering… how much could you give me for this necklace?”
You pulled your fist out of your pocket, holding it out and opening your hand to reveal a small gold necklace. The gentleman asked for your permission to take it and then proceeded to do so. He examined it for a moment up against the light and then handed it back to you, checking under the counter display case for something.
“So, tell me, why’s a pretty thing like you selling something so pretty.”
“I just need the money…”
“What for?”
“Nothing bad!” You quickly remarked. “Just for school… I need new books for the semester and… I don’t really have any other options.”
“I see.”
The gentleman got out a scale, turning it on and testing it out with a few other jewelry pieces. As he did that the door opened, a bell ringing to signify there was someone new entering the shop. You looked over to see another guy with a cap walk in, and before the shop worker could say their greeting he spoke.
“I’m back.”
“Welcome back, Hyunjae.”
“Oh, what do we have here?”
This Hyunjae gave you a smile before going behind the counter with the other, looking around for the item in question. Although you still had it.
“May I?”
The other held his hand out to you, and you handed over the necklace. He put it on the scale and noted down its weight. From there Hyunjae grabbed it and began examining it.
“So, how much are you looking to get?” The worker asked.
“Juyeon-”
“I’m not talking to you right now, Hyunjae.” Juyeon cleared his throat and smiled at you. “How much do you need?”
“Uh… if I could get a few hundred… that would be fine… although I don’t think the necklace is worth that much…”
“Well you’re in luck.” Juyeon grabbed the necklace, holding it up. “The craftsman ship on this is quite unique, the weight is decent, and it seems to be 14k, so I can give you about six hundred dollars.”
“Six… six hundred?”
“Too little?”
“I… no… if that’s what it’s worth… I had no idea…”
“Whoever gave this to you must have really cared for you.”
“I guess… it’s the only thing I have from my birth parents… before they passed away…”
“Oh, something with this much sentimental value… are you sure you want to-”
“I need the money for school… it’s okay…”
“If you say so.”
Juyeon grabbed a sheet of paper and pen, sliding it over to you. He asked for you to fill out your personal information, as they needed physical records of all transactions. He stepped away for a moment to get the money, counting it in front of you so you’d have no doubts. As he handed it over to you he kept his grip on it, confusing you. He reached into his jacket pocket and held out a business card for you, which you hesitantly took.
“What’s this?”
“If you need money, it might be better to get a job. We also run a delivery service and are always looking for new people.” Juyeon let go of the money. “Just a thought.”
“Thank you…”
You politely bowed your head and made your way out of the shop. Juyeon watched you every step of the way until you were out of sight. When he looked back he was met with Hyunjae’s death glare.
“What?”
“Six hundred dollars? Seriously? How much is that necklace actually worth?”
“About a hundred.”
“Juyeon!”
“What!”
“Sangyeon is going to kill you.”
“He can try.” Juyeon looked down at the paperwork. “Let me know when she calls.”
“You mean if she calls.”
“When.” Juyeon corrected. “She’ll call.”
“And how can you be so sure?”
“Cause I’m gonna make her mine.”
❤
You went to the shop early in the morning the day before classes started. You made it back to your dorm, ignoring the boxes you needed to unpack and just collapsing onto the bed. You were grateful you had gotten some money, hoping it’d be enough for books. Your stomach growled and you could only whine. You had two meal passes per day, and you’d rather save those for lunch and dinner. For a moment you thought to spend some of the money you had on breakfast, but you quickly shot the idea down reminding yourself you had to save every penny. After some more lounging around you heard your roommate come in, reminding you that you needed to unpack and get ready for the semester.
After the first week you had all necessary materials, and a few bucks left over. You kinda wanted to treat yourself, but you knew you shouldn’t be spending so recklessly. You’d spend your time in the library, working on assignments, or in your dorm. Even though you wanted to go out, even when classmates invited you, the only option you had was to stay in your dorm. It sucked, but you were used to it by now. Especially the morning hunger pains. Which were way worse after pulling an all nighter.
You laid in bed the next morning, telling yourself you had to get up. You went about your morning routine, getting your things and when you put your phone in your pocket found a business card. For a moment you questioned it, but seeing the name on it reminded you where you had gotten in. The shop worker told you it would be best to get a job, and that they were hiring. You weren’t sure if you’d be able to do it though, considering you’ve seen a lot of delivery workers dropping off big heavy boxes. Not to mention the fact your schedule was all over the place.
Then again you could do late evenings but you’d sacrifice sleep in the process. You groaned as you debated this, unsure what to do. In your current situation you were just getting by, staying at a constant with no real movement upwards. You were okay, but you could be better. Some money in your pocket would probably make you feel less anxious. Since you still had time before your morning class you decided to call on your way over, hoping to get some information and go from there.
“Hello, Wingz Express, how may I help you?”
“Hi… I was calling to ask about your open positions.”
“Open positions?”
“Yes. One of your employees from the shop gave me a card, I believe his name was Juyeon. He told me you were hiring.”
“Ah, yes. So, what do you want to know?”
“Well, I was curious about the pay? Does it depend on the department or-”
“Thirty.”
“…” You stopped in your tracks. “Thirty… what?”
“All the work is basically the same, so I’d be paying you thirty an hour.”
“Thirty… an hour?”
“Is that not enough?”
“No! I mean, that’s great. Although, I’m a uni student so I could only really work late in the evening.”
“That’s fine. A delivery service is available 24/7 so that’s no problem. When can you start?”
“… just like that? No interview or background check.”
“It’s a delivery job, don’t need much, just you.”
“Oh… okay then…”
“You think you could come by later today? I know where I could put you.”
“Yeah, yeah I can do that. Does seven sound good?”
“Works for me. Can I get your name?”
“Y/n.”
“I’m Sangyeon, the owner. I’ll text you the address for the warehouse and when you come over ask for me.”
“Got it. Thank you.”
“I’ll see you later.”
When the call ended you found yourself staring at your phone. You easily got a job, and it paid very well. For a moment your heart fluttered with joy but then you thought about it. If it paid this much, and they were hiring, there had to be something wrong with the job. That killed your mood a bit but you told yourself it wouldn’t hurt to check it out. Besides, they were expecting you now so it would be rude not to show up. You put it all to the side for now focusing on your classes. You had an early lunch before catching a bus and heading to the warehouse. It seemed pretty empty, so you began to worry you were in the wrong place, but you saw some trucks with the Wingz Express stamp on it in the loading dock, giving you some reassurance.
You then saw a few people walking inside the building. You called out to them, but they didn’t seem to hear you so you followed them inside. It looked how you’d imagine a delivery service would have their warehouse stocked, rows and rows of items going up to the ceiling. Still, you didn’t see many workers around. You were starting to think this place was fairly new, it would explain why the pay was so high, they needed people. You cautiously walked around, looking for another employee, but it wouldn’t be long before you were called out.
“Ya! Stop right there!”
You turned around to see these two gentlemen walking over to you, concern on their faces. You merely offered a smile, trying not to be nervous.
“Hello.”
“What are you doing here?”
“I’m the new hire.”
“New hire? Seriously?”
“Uh, yes. I spoke with the owner on the phone and he-”
“Sure you did. Look, you seem nice, so why don’t we escort you out.”
“What?”
“We have no problem dragging you out if necessary.”
“But-”
“Guys!” A third voice boomed. “What is going on?”
“This girl says she works here. That she spoke with you on the phone.”
“I did speak with someone.”
You looked back to see who you believed to be Sangyeon approach. He came up to you with a smile and held his hand out to you.
“You must be y/n, it’s a pleasure to meet you in person, I’m Sangyeon.”
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you too.”
“I’m glad you found the place, now let’s go to the office and get all the paperwork sorted.”
“Wait, why didn’t you tell us that-”
“It’s fine. Just get back to work you two.”
You followed Sangyeon to the office at the back of the warehouse. He brought out some papers for you to fill out, getting you a hat and vest as well. Afterwards he showed you around the warehouse, telling you about the company. They had been around for a while and as you suspected, only recently set up a location in this area. They pretty much delivered everything to anyone, so their services were sought after.
“I don’t expect heavy manual labor from you, so I’ll be partnering you up with Younghoon.”
You went over to the docks, Sangyeon introducing you to your new partner. He was happy to meet you, giving you a big smile as he shook your hand.
“Welcome to the team.”
“Thanks.”
“I expect you to take good care of her.” Sangyeon commented. “And show her the ropes.”
“Of course.”
“Alright, be safe, and let me know if anything happens. See you both later.”
Younghoon closed up the truck and playfully offered you the keys, but said you didn’t know where to go yet. You also mentioned you didn’t know how to drive which he assured you wasn’t an issue as no one really did deliveries alone.
“So, what’s up with you?”
“Huh?”
“Sorry, I worded that weirdly. Tell me about yourself. What do you do with your time, why the job?”
“Oh… well I’m a university student, and I need the money for my expenses… and to pay back my loans someday.”
“Your parents won’t help out?”
“I don’t have any…”
“Oh, my bad.”
“It’s alright. I was in foster care and did grow up in a nice home, it’s just… different…”
“You still live with your foster parents?”
“No, no, I live on campus in the dormitories. It feels more like my home that way.”
“Look at you, miss independent.”
You giggled. “I try.”
“Well, getting a job is a good step.”
“Thanks.”
You arrived at an apartment complex, going with Younghoon to get the delivery items. You had multiple deliveries in the building, and it would go faster with two people. Younghoon pulled out a small cart, handing you these paper bags with numbers on them. He got another cart and did the same, the two of you taking one and making your way inside the building. He gave you a list, and certain floors to attend to, as well as a walkie to keep in touch with, telling you the numbers on the bags corresponded with apartment numbers. You just had to place the bag in front of the right door and take a picture of it, followed by ringing the doorbell and moving onto the next. Pretty simple.
You did this with a few other apartment complexes, returning to the warehouse in the early hours of the morning. To your surprise you could hear music and cheering coming from inside. Younghoon seemed to know exactly what was going on and had you follow him. You saw a bunch of boys gathered around two others in forklifts, they were gonna race. Sangyeon noticed the two of you and came over. Younghoon told him everything had gone well and all deliveries were made. He was happy to hear, asking you how you felt with the work. It was good, and you were glad to help.
“You should stick around for the race.”
“I don’t think I should.”
“It’ll be fun. You can place your bet too.”
“I don’t really have money to bet…”
“Then how about this.” Younghoon suggested. “You bet an hours pay, and if you win, your paycheck gets doubled. You should have some fun with us too.”
“Uh…”
“It’s not much to lose.”
“Sure. I’ll play.”
If you were gonna keep this job, you should make an effort to get along with your coworkers. You joined in the crowd, going over to the front, and being told who the racers were. One was a gentleman by the name of Sunwoo, and the other Chanhee. You didn’t have much to go by so this was truly a gamble for you. In the end you put your money on Chanhee, and then the race began. The gentleman from the shop, Hyunjae, went up to start the race, doing a count down and dropping the flag. It was easy to get caught up in the energy as you watch the two go around the warehouse, and you were overjoyed when Chanhee crossed the finish line first. You screamed in joy and jumped into Younghoon’s arms. He spun you around until you came back to your senses and apologized.
“Congrats to you.”
“Sorry, I didn’t…”
“It’s okay, you were excited.”
“Y/n.” Sangyeon called. “Let’s get you your money, follow me.”
You went with Sangyeon to the office. He gave you a check for your first shift, and your earnings from the bet in cash. You kept yourself together as best you could, but it was hard to hide your joy.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“See you then.”
You returned to your dorm, tired but satisfied. A bit of a burden had been lifted off your shoulders. You cleaned up and went to bed. Even though you wouldn’t get much sleep you had the peace of mind that everything would be alright. In the morning you even treated yourself to a yummy breakfast before class. You went about your day with a slight skip in your step, and happily returned to the warehouse in the evening. While you made your way to the office you heard a honk and one of the forklifts came over to your side. You recognized the driver.
“Hello, I don’t think we got to properly meet last night.”
“Hi, I’m y/n, a new hire.”
“I’m Chanhee, your lucky charm.” He chuckled. “You made the right choice last night.”
“Thanks for winning.”
“It’s all skill. We should hang out sometime outside of work.”
“If I have the time.”
“Then keep me in your thoughts.”
“Y/n!” You heard Younghoon call. “You ready?”
“Coming! I’ll see you around, Chanhee.”
“Don’t be a stranger.”
Chanhee went off and you went over to Younghoon, going off to work. For the next few days it was the same routine. You went to the same places, and did the same job. Since it was late in the evening going into the morning, you rarely ran into people, although it did happen on occasion. These people usually just said hello, and moved on, but on one occasion things were different. Someone approached you, asking about their order. You were happy to help, and asked for their apartment number. You didn’t have anything on your list, so you used your walkie to call Younghoon and ask him about the situation. He had no record of such an order either.
“Sorry, we don’t seem to have your order. Perhaps you could-”
“Just give me one of the ones you have.”
“I’m afraid I can’t do that. These are for other people. And-”
“Whatever.”
The person just grabbed a random bag off your cart, and you quickly reached out to grab it as well. You were trying to explain this wasn’t for them, but the other party was not letting go. Eventually the struggle caused the bag to rip, multiple items falling to the floor, and a white powder exploding onto you. The other person immediately dropped the bag and ran, causing you to collapse to the floor. You were upset and as you got up Younghoon came to your side, helping you to your feet.
“Are you okay?”
“I guess. Sorry, one of the orders-”
“It’s fine.” Younghoon tried to dust you off. “There’s a small vacuum in the back of the van, why don’t you go get it and I’ll do some cleaning here.”
“Of course.”
You went down to the van and retrieved the vacuum returning to Younghoon as he got off the phone. He thanked you and got to work cleaning up, telling you they liked to operate like ghosts, not leaving a trace behind. He also told you not to worry about the order that was damaged, Sangyeon was already taking care of it. You continued with the deliveries together, although after a while you began to feel dizzy. You thought you were fine but your legs suddenly gave out. Younghoon was quick to catch you, holding you in his arms.
“Y/n? Y/n, can you hear me?”
You felt strange, as if you were floating on water. Younghoon’s voice sounded so distant, but you were trying to listen. All you could give him was a smile before your body gave out and everything faded to black.
❤
Your head was throbbing as you regained consciousness. It took a moment to register where you were, but as you sat up you could see that you were in the office back at the warehouse. You were relieved to be somewhere familiar, although you were alone. Besides the headache you felt fine, and when you checked the time you saw that your shift had ended half an hour ago. You felt terrible for what had happened, but at least it wasn’t bad enough that you needed to be taken to the hospital. It was getting late and you needed to return to your dorm, but you also wanted to check in with Sangyeon to apologize.
You grabbed your things and stepped out of the office, looking around the warehouse. The place was eerily quiet, yet you called out to see if anyone was there. As far as you knew the warehouse never really closed, so someone had to be around. While wandering around you noticed just how many boxes were stacked in the warehouse. You had never really looked into the type of things Wingz Express delivered, and after today’s incident you were quite curious. The boxes were labeled according to what they had, but you noticed the boxes higher up didn’t have a label at all.
“You should be careful.”
You jumped when you heard a voice, looking over to see Chanhee up on some boxes looking down at you. If he had been there this whole time then he surely had heard you calling for someone, but just ignored you until now. He chuckled and apologized for startling you, hoping down.
“How are you feeling?”
“Better, sorry for what happened.”
“It wasn’t your fault, you were just doing your job.”
“Yeah… so what is it that you guys deliver? What have I been delivering?”
“No idea, big boss Sangyeon takes care of all that. We deliver anything and everything, so who knows, not really our business.”
“I see. I should get going.”
“Right, you have class in the morning. I’ll show you out.”
“I was actually looking for Sangyeon.”
“He’s busy with something, but I’ll let him know you’re alright.”
“Okay, thanks.”
You made it back to your dorm in one piece, feeling a mix of exhaustion and annoyance. People just had to be so dumb and you were sure you’d get a pay cut for passing out on the job. For now though you just needed to sleep and worry about your classes. In the morning you still felt tired, but you had to get on with your day. Although as you were on your way to class you got a call from Sangyeon.
“Hey, how are you feeling?”
“I’m alright. I do need to apologize for last night.”
“There’s no need. All that matters is that you’re alright. If you need anything, you let me know.”
“I will, thank you.”
“Since I have you on the line, could I ask something of you?”
“What is it?”
“I know you don’t usually work weekends, but if you ever have the time you’re always welcome to come by. I could use the help in the mornings and I’d pay you extra too. Which reminds me, I am paying you for your full hours for yesterday.”
“Oh you don’t-”
“I insist. You got hurt on the job and I need to take care of you. I know it’s early so I’ll let you go, but if you can come in this weekend please let me know.”
“Yeah, yeah I will, thanks Sangyeon.”
“Have a good day.”
“You too.”
❤
The weekends were normally your days off. You’d use them to catch up on assignments, or sleep, and maybe treat yourself since you had money to spend. Although you didn’t really have friends to hang out with. At least if you went into work you wouldn’t be alone, and you’d get some more money. So you decided to make your way over to the warehouse, greeted by happy faces.
“I’m glad you could spare the time.” Sangyeon commented.
“No problem. So, where’s Younghoon?”
“You won’t be with him today. I’m gonna have you help Kevin out. Nothing too crazy.”
“Sure. That sounds like fun.”
“I’ll take you to him.”
You followed Sangyeon through the warehouse, going back over to the loading docks. He brought you over to Kevin and introduced you.
“Pleasure to be working with you.”
“Same here.”
“Take care of her.” Sangyeon mentioned.
“I got it, boss.”
“Then I’ll leave you to it. Let me know if anything happens.”
“Will do.” Kevin playfully saluted. “So, I know you’re used to working the evening shift, but I promise the day shift isn’t too bad.”
“I guess we’ll see.”
“Truck’s already loaded so let’s go.”
You made small talk with Kevin on the drive, and the job was fairly similar. You were dropping off boxes to apartment buildings or stores. If there was no one to receive it then you set it down, take a picture, and send a message, just like before. The only real difference was politely greeting people around you. The uniform was simple too, which meant it was easy for people to recognize you.
“Y/n?”
“Hm?”
While heading back to the truck you were stopped by a group of girls, recognizing them from one of your classes. You weren’t exactly friends, but you knew each other to be more than strangers.
“What are you doing?”
“Just… working… I need some extra money so I thought I’d pick up a few shifts.”
“That explains a lot.”
“Huh?”
“Y/n.”
You looked back just as Kevin approached you, seeming out of breath. He placed an arm around your shoulder, pulling you close.
“This was our last stop, so we can go.” Kevin smiled and looked over at the girls. “Ladies, if you’ll excuse us.”
“What’s your name?”
“Sorry, I’m not that easy.”
Kevin pulled you along back to the truck. The other girls followed you for a bit, but Kevin didn’t pay them any attention. As you were on the road heading back to the warehouse your phone started pinning. The girls had your number from previous projects and were asking you about Kevin. Before you could even attempt to answer them Kevin snatched your phone.
“Ya.”
“I thought you were keeping me company.”
“Right, sorry.”
“You don’t need to apologize.” Kevin said. “Thanks for today, you were a big help.”
“No problem.”
“You got any plans for later?”
“No, not really. Why?”
“We’re having a party tonight down at our favorite spot. You should come.”
“You mean a club?”
“Yeah.”
“I don’t really have an outfit for that.”
“Just wear something nice. You should come. Have a few drinks and relax, I’m sure uni must be stressful.”
“I’ll think about it.”
“Would love to see you, consider it a work get together. You’d be able to meet everyone.”
“Uh… sure… there’s no harm.”
“Awesome. I’ll text you the details.”
Like you said, you didn’t have an outfit for the club scene, but found something nice. You were a bit nervous, but to your surprise the bouncer let you in without issue. As you stepped inside you could feel the music shaking everything. The lights were low and people were dancing and drinking in every direction. You glanced down at your phone, sending Kevin a message that you were here. While walking around you wound up running into your classmates from before.
“Y/n? Surprised to see you here, it’s not really your scene.”
“I… I know… it’s a work thing…”
“Oh, then maybe we can join you.”
“I’m not sure if you could.”
Despite the crowd you managed to see a familiar face, Chanhee, excusing yourself and trying to follow after them. You called their name, but you can’t hear much besides the music. Although you stopped when you came across two bouncers, realizing Chanhee had gone into a VIP section.
“Hello, I’m here with my friends and I saw one of them just went through here.”
“Yeah, I didn’t know we were doing VIP tonight.”
Your classmates had followed you and come up from behind, trying to sweet talk the bouncers. You weren’t exactly with them, but if they could help you get in then maybe it wasn’t a bad thing. Although you noticed another familiar face and called out to them.
“Kevin!”
“Y/n, glad you could make it.”
Kevin came over and told the bouncers to let you in, although your classmates weren’t allowed. They started pleading with you, but you weren’t sure what to say.
“Are these your friends y/n?” Kevin asked. “And be honest.”
“Uh… well… not really… we’re just classmates.”
“I see, well, ladies, I’m afraid VIP is invite only, have a nice night.”
Kevin wrapped an arm around your shoulder and led you deeper into the VIP section. You were brought over to a private area, seeing many more familiar faces. You got a simple drink from the bar there, mingling with your coworkers and meeting new people. Although some were definitely old faces.
“Y/n! Oh my gosh, it’s so good to see you.”
“Juyeon?”
“Yeah, how’ve you been? How’s the job?”
“It’s good, and the money has been a great help.”
“See, told ya it would work out.”
“Thanks again for the introduction.”
“My pleasure.”
You danced the night away, having a few drinks too. Not enough to be drunk, but you were a bit tipsy. Come morning things were winding down, and you definitely needed rest. Some of the boys offered you a ride back to the dorm, which you gladly accepted. They didn’t all drink as some were the designated drivers of the night. You cozied up in the back of a car, squished between Sunwoo and Eric, while Hyunjae took the passenger seat and Jacob sat behind the wheel. The drive was smooth, Eric having his face pressed against the glass while you leaned against his shoulder. You were half asleep and couldn’t really make out the voices around you.
“She’s so cute…” Hyunjae mumbled, looking at you through the rearview mirror. “Can we keep her? I know tonight-”
“You already know the answer to that.” Jacob interrupted. “We can’t just keep an innocent person around.”
“Yeah, yeah…”
The peaceful ride was suddenly interrupted as you were sent spinning, another vehicle crashing into yours. The car came to a stop when it crashed against the side of the building. All the windows were smashed and you had cuts from broken glass. You groaned as you looked around, seeing that the others were conscious too. Sunwoo was in your field of vision, talking to you, but you couldn’t really hear anything. Next thing you knew the door behind him was yanked open and he was dragged out. Then someone reached in and pulled you out of the wreck. You were laid on the ground, vaguely making out Haknyeon before passing out.

You expected to wake up in the hospital, or maybe even in an ambulance. Instead you found yourself in the office back at the warehouse. You felt a few aches around your body, and your cuts stung, but you were fine overall. You slowly sat up, Juyeon and Sangyeon both there to tell you to take it easy.
“What… what happened?”
“Minor car accident.” Juyeon explained. “No one was seriously injured.”
“Shouldn’t we go to the hospital?”
“We’re fine.” Sangyeon assured. “But if you feel like-”
“No, no, I’m fine.”
“Glad to hear. Apologies though, we were supposed to take you back to the dorm, but we needed to make sure you were alright first.”
“I understand, thanks.”
“Why don’t you rest for a bit and then we’ll take you home.”
“Yeah, that sounds good.”
Juyeon got up and got you a glass of water. You thanked him and laid down, feeling like a good nap would do you well as you still felt kinda dizzy and tipsy. Juyeon gave you a blanket and tucked you in on the couch, saying he’d come by later to get you and take you back to your dorm. You thanked him and closed your eyes, getting some sleep. You were out for a while before you opened your eyes again, feeling more clear headed. You found yourself alone in the office, figuring you might as well go look for Juyeon or one of the others. You found your things and headed into the warehouse.
You called out to the guys, but got no answer. Before you could try again you heard some noises and followed them. You saw the boys gathered around, laughing and smiling. You were about to make your presence known when you saw Chanhee hold up a gun and cock it. Your eyes went wide, seeing he wasn’t the only one with a weapon. You took a closer look at what the boys were doing. Besides weapons you saw needles, jewelry, and other types of contraband. It was clear you needed to leave on your own, and quietly. You took a step back and wound up knocking something over and making noise. You cursed under your breath, intending to run off only to bump into Kevin. He had an amused smile on his face, placing a hand on your shoulder.
“Look who’s awake.”
“Ha… hi…”
“We were just gonna go get you.”
“Right… I would like to go back to-”
“What’s this?”
The others had come to see what the noise was, finding you with Kevin. You offered the boys a smile, but it was hard to act normal when you saw some of them holding guns.
“Hey… I… I was looking for someone… I need to get back to the dorm…”
“Juyeon.” Sangyeon sighed. “You were supposed to give her a laced glass of water.”
“I swear I thought I did.”
“Well clearly you didn’t.”
“Wa… what do you mean…” You nervously laughed. “I’m fine, and I’d really like to go-”
“I guess we get to keep her after all, Hyunjae.” Jacob commented. “Lucky us.”
“Yes!”
“Huh?”
“Grab her.”
Since Kevin was the closest to you he immediately grabbed your arm which caused you to act. You tried to run and free yourself from his grasp but his grip was tight. Then Younghoon came over and grabbed your other arm, the two of them keeping you from escaping.
“What are you doing! Let go!”
“We can’t do that.” Younghoon said. “Sorry.”
“What about the mission tonight?” Sunwoo asked. “Are we going to postpone?”
“No, it will proceed as intended.” Sangyeon stated. “Those bastards aren’t gonna get away with a stunt like that. And we also need to send a message.”
“Then what do we do about y/n?”
“We’ll keep her here until we get back. Put her in the cage for now.”
“What is that!?” You screamed. “Please, just… just let me go! I won’t tell anyone anything! I swear!”
“We should have made her drink more.” Chanhee said. “Things wouldn’t have gotten so complicated.”
“Probably. Now let’s move.”
You tried to argue some more but the boys just dragged you along effortlessly. You were taken further into the warehouse, coming over to the sortation area. You weren’t sure what this cage was, but you were a bit relieved when you saw it. In order to transport packages around there was this cage on wheels to make sure they were safe. Usually it was stacked high with packages but this time you would be put inside. It was hard to fight back as they locked you in. You expected them to use some sort of lock but instead you watched in disbelief as Kevin bent the metal together. He gave you a smirk and a wink.
“We’ll be back later. So stay put.”
You couldn’t resist the urge to try and break yourself free but the door wouldn’t budge at all. Your mind was still processing what had happened, but the proof was right in front of you. There was no way someone was physically strong enough to bend metal the way Kevin just did, but you were living in that reality. You screamed at them to let you out, but none listened and just walked away, leaving you trapped and completely alone. You kept trying to free yourself for a while, but eventually you exhausted yourself. You collapsed and sat in the cage, contemplating your next move.
These guys were something else, and you didn’t know them at all. Now you were their prisoner, and you were certain they wouldn’t easily let you go. Since it was quiet and you were settling down from everything that had happened, exhaustion was catching up to you. Without really meaning to you wound up falling asleep. You didn’t know for how long you were out, but you woke to the rattling of the cage. You jumped awake and quickly scrambled against a corner, seeing Chanhee grabbing onto the cage and giggling.
“You look good in there.”
“Let me out!”
“Sure, but no running away, okay?”
“Whatever.”
Chanhee bent the metal back, allowing for the doors to be opened. You didn’t bother thinking about his insane feat of strength, but you were certainly surprised to see him holding his hand out to you. Reluctantly you took it, finally being able to stretch properly. You didn’t see anyone else around, so this was your chance. You offered Chanhee a smile before shoving him away from you and running in the opposite direction. Unfortunately you didn’t make it far as you crashed into Haknyeon, who you swear wasn’t there a second ago, and fell to the floor. You glanced back to see that Chanhee was still standing by the cage. Your shove really hadn’t thrown him off balance at all.
“What did I say?” Chanhee teased. “No running away. It’s pointless either way.”
“Please just let me go…”
“We’re going home now, so don’t worry.”
“Really?”
“Of course.”
Haknyeon helped you to your feet, distracting you as Chanhee came up from behind and jammed a needle into your neck, emptying out its contents into you. Your eyes went wide, and Haknyeon held you still. Once the needle was removed you began to feel a bit dizzy, your legs losing strength. You could vaguely make out the smile on Haknyeon’s face as he lifted you up into his arms, carrying you bridal style. You tried to speak, to stay awake, but it wasn’t long before the darkness swallowed you.
“Let’s go home.”
❤
When you regained consciousness you felt a bit sore, but as soon as you had your head on straight your focus was on figuring out what happened and where you were. Unfortunately you couldn’t see much as your surroundings were pitch black. Not to mention your hands and legs were tied together, leaving you with a limited ability to move. So you carefully began to wiggle around, bumping into some boxes. Despite being close to the object, you couldn’t actually see it unless you got really close. Although this didn’t help you much as you had no means of freeing yourself.
A moment later you shake as the ground beneath you begins to move, and you hear the loud roar of a trailer. You were in the back of a truck and being moved to some unknown location. You tried to move around, screaming for help, but you eventually exhausted yourself, deciding to just wait and see what happened next. Since you had no concept of time in that darkness you had no idea for how long you were in there. There wasn’t even a point in trying to remember what turns were made. Eventually you came to a stop and heard the engine turn off. You were left to wonder if you had reached your final destination or if this was just a quick stop.
You heard the sounds of something unlatching, and then you were blinded by a bright light. You lifted up your arms to shield your eyes, taking a moment to adjust. As you suspected you were in the back of a trailer, and there were a bunch of boxes and other pieces of furniture around you. Being able to see it all now, this seemed like a moving truck. You heard voices and saw some of the boys climbing into the truck and grabbing boxes. Although before you could say something Jacob came up to you and tied a gag around your mouth. You began to squirm, but you were powerless in your restraints.
He got you up, getting help from Kevin as they moved you towards the end of the trailer, intending to unload you like the rest of the cargo onboard. You remained restrained as you got out of the trailer, being left with Younghoon for a moment. When you tried to get the gag off he grabbed the rope that bound your hands together, using that as a means to keep you leashed. You looked around, noticing the huge house. They had brought you to their place. All around you could see trees and a long driveway leading out to what you assumed was the main road. As far as you knew this place was in the middle of nowhere.
Younghoon suddenly pulled on your ropes, and the next thing you knew he had you over his shoulder. You squirmed and hit his back, but he seemed completely unphased. You weren’t super light, but even then he was carrying you so effortlessly. You were taken into the house, the others giving you smiles but not saying anything to you. Given the truck and all the items, you thought they were moving in, but upon entering the house you could see it was clearly lived in. This was their home. You were set down on the couch, Younghoon pulling out a knife and setting you free. He reached up and took your gag off as well.
“Welcome home.”
“What the hell is wrong with you guys…”
Younghoon chuckled. “Nothing, why?”
“You-”
“Here.” Juyeon came over with a case. “Before you do anything else.”
Younghoon took the case from the other, opening it up and revealing what looked to be a small dog collar. You immediately thought that was going around your neck, but Younghoon grabbed your leg, taking your shoe off and slipping the collar onto your leg. When you tried to pull away he just held on tighter, really unbothered by your actions. He tightened it around your ankle, and then you heard something click. You noticed a green light emitting from the device, realizing it was some sort of ankle brace, and he just placed you under house arrest.
“What the hell!”
“Don’t want you running off now.” Juyeon smiled. “Don’t worry, it won’t hurt you or anything.”
“I’m a prisoner in this house!?”
“You don’t have to think of it that way. This place is yours, and that’s just a precaution.”
“I want to go home!”
“We are home.”
“This place isn’t home.”
“I suppose you just have to give it a chance.”
“Fuck you!”
You got up and stormed off, just walking in any direction just to get away from them. No one tried to stop you, probably since you weren’t actually walking towards the door but further into the house. That wasn’t your intention, but at least none of them followed you. After walking a bit you went into the first open door you found. You closed the door behind you, leaning against it and taking a breath. This whole situation was insane, but they were acting so normal, or as normal as kidnapping someone could be. Now you were who knows where in a foreign house with no escape in sight.
You slid down to the floor, feeling defeated. You didn’t even understand how you wound up in this situation. You were just working for their stupid company and saw something you weren’t supposed to. Then again you were probably lucky to be alive. Most people who learn someone else’s secrets wind up dead, but this wasn’t exactly better either. You didn’t have your phone or any means to communicate with the world beyond this house. So in a sense you were dead to the world. You got up and found a window, staring out at the sky and then looking down at your foot with the ankle brace.
You took a moment to further examine it, but you didn’t see any way to get it off. You really were trapped in this house. You sat back down on the floor, hugging your knees to your chest. You just wanted to go back to campus, go back to classes and be a normal person again. Your situation seemed hopeless, making you tear up, but you had to remind yourself this wasn’t the end. Surely there was a way out, and you were certain you could find it. If you gave up now, then you definitely wouldn’t get out. You took a moment to pull yourself together. This place was huge, but maybe you could find something to use to your advantage.
This would be a process, but you also didn’t intend to be friendly. For the following days you kept to yourself, not speaking to any of the boys, and avoiding them outside of meals. They tried to make conversation and engage with you, but when they saw you were unresponsive they left you alone. You didn’t expect them to just let you be, but you were still glad they did. You were allowed to explore the house as you pleased, discovering all kinds of things. They seemed to have huge collections of expensive and luxurious items. It made sense to have all these things as they did run a pawn shop and delivery service. They had access to so many things.
In that same vein, remembering the weapons, a handful of these items were probably stolen or acquired by illegal means. Seeing all these priceless items made you realize you were practically a living trophy in this house. Another prize they had won, or more accurately taken. It made you feel a bit sick, but you had yet to find something of use. Most doors around the house were open, so you could go where you pleased. Even the boys’ rooms were all open to you, but you already searched them. The room you had given was plain and empty. They told you that you could decorate it however you wanted, but you weren’t planning on setting roots here.
Only a handful of doors were locked and off limits, so you were extra curious about those. By now you had a good idea which rooms you couldn’t get into, so you’d always try to open them throughout the day, hoping to maybe catch one open. It took a bit, but you eventually got lucky. You quickly looked around to make sure you were alone, then slowly opened the door. You quietly listened, trying to figure out if anyone was inside, but it seemed to be your lucky day. You stepped in and didn’t even think to close the door as you realized what was in here. All types of weapons surrounded you. So many guns and blades hanging on the wall, a few things locked behind a cage, but this was what you had been looking for.
Surely something here could help you escape. Although before you could take another step you felt something cold against your neck. You were no longer alone. While you were distracted by your own thoughts someone noticed the open door and found you standing in one of their secret rooms. Of course it was only logical to assume you were an intruder and treat you as such. You swallowed nervously as you realized the object against your throat was a knife. You carefully looked over, seeing Eric gazing at you with a bright glint in his eyes and a cocky smirk. He only pressed the blade further against your flesh.
“Look what I have here. How did you get in here?”
“… the door was open…”
“You expect me to believe that?”
“… you… you think I picked the lock?”
“Hm, I suppose that’s true. So, what do you think?”
“… ah… about what?”
“This room. You must be terrified seeing all this, or perhaps excited. Although I’ll let you know right now, you’re out of luck.”
“I-”
“You better watch it.” Eric growled. “You wouldn’t want to get hurt.”
Eric chuckled and moved the knife away from your throat, although he merely had it ghost over your chest before moving it up to your face, dragging the dull end along your cheek.
“Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you.”
“…”
“In fact, I really want to do the opposite.”
“… huh…?”
Before you could really process what Eric was talking about he leaned in close and pressed his lips to yours. You tried to move away, but he followed, and ultimately pinned you against a wall. The knife clattered to the floor and he pinned your arms to the wall as well. He only pulled away from you when he needed to catch his breath. A big smile adorned Eric’s face as he pressed his head against yours.
“I’ve been waiting to do that.”
“… why…”
“That’s your question?” Eric chuckled. “You are interesting, but don’t you think the answer is obvious.”
“… is it?”
“Why do you think we went through all the trouble to bring you here, hm?”
“Cause I saw too much…”
“You mean all of this? No, no, if we cared for that you’d be dead.”
“Then…”
“Is it really that hard? I guess I should show you.”
“Wat-”
Eric shoved you to the floor, and soon enough he was on top of you, kissing you once more. His hands were at your hips, one slipping under your shirt, making you shiver from the skin to skin contact. Soon enough his lips were against your throat, sucking and nibbling on the skin, starting to mark you up. You squirmed beneath his touch, your hands above your head, moving about when you felt something against your fingers. It was the blade Eric had dropped. You cautiously reached for it, getting a grip on the handle. Just as you were about to make a move Eric’s hand quickly pinned down your wrist, a low chuckle escaping his lips.
“Did you really think that would work?”
Eric placed a chaste kiss against your cheek, keeping your wrist pinned and reaching over with his other hand to take the blade from you. He remained on top of you, using his body weight to keep you pinned. He twirled the knife in his hands, looking down at you with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“You know, we want to give you everything, and yet how have you acted? You’ve been avoiding us and giving us the silent treatment, and now you break into our little armory. I think it’s about time you’re punished for your actions.”
Before you could process Eric got off you and proceeded to flip you over, cuffing your hands behind your back. He got you to your feet, dragging you along, out of the room and down the hall. Soon enough you were in the living room, avoiding the gazes of the others who were around. Eric shoved you onto the couch and then the tip of the knife was under your chin.
“How do you think we should punish you?”
“What’s all this?” Sunwoo asked. “What punishment?”
“You know, for ignoring us, and breaking into the armory.”
“Oh, yeah, that’s cause for punishment. Not sure about the knife though.”
“Well, I need her to behave.”
“But there’s still no need for such things.”
Sangyeon entered the room, having gotten a message about the show going on in the house. Soon enough the others joined too and he could see how you tried to make yourself small. He didn’t want you to be afraid, or feel threatened by them, so seeing Eric playing around with a knife was very much not allowed. He went over to the younger boy and took the item from him, throwing it and embedding it in the wall.
“I wasn’t going to hurt her with it.”
“I don’t doubt that, but why don’t you play with something else.”
“Oh, what does the big boss have in mind?” Hyunjae asked. “I’d love to participate.”
“For starters, we have to set the mood. Jacob, you know what I mean.”
“I do indeed. I’ll be right back.”
“She also needs a party favor.”
“Why that?” Juyeon questioned. “Don’t you think that’s risky?”
“It’ll be more fun, for everyone.”
You had no idea what any of that meant, but you knew it couldn’t be good. There was no point even attempting to run off as everyone was in the room with you. A while later Jacob returned with a small case in hand, giving it to Sangyeon. The eldest opened it up, revealing a needle. You instinctively tried to move, unaware of what the contents the needle contained.
“We’re not gonna hurt you.” Sangyeon assured. “Hold her.”
Kevin and Changmin reached over to hold you still as Sangyeon emptied out the needle into your neck. You did your best to squirm, but there was nothing you could do.
“What is that! What did you give me!?”
“You’ll see soon enough.” Kevin teased. “Now the party favor, right?”
“Give her a moment.” Sangyeon said. “Then she can have it.”
“Have what? What are you guys talking about!”
“Just be patient.”
You cut yourself off before saying more as you began to feel different. Your face was beginning to burn, and you felt this heat overtaking you. Now it was obvious what they had given you, and it wasn’t hard to guess what came next. You couldn’t help but squirm in your restraints, starting to get annoyed by your own clothes, but unable to remove them. You felt rather pathetic too, giving in so easily to the drug, but it was really clouding your head and making everything fuzzy.
“Now for the next part.”
“I call dibs!” Chanhee volunteered. “Come here, baby.”
You were vaguely aware of Chanhee as he approached you, but you didn’t know what he was doing. That is until he leaned in to kiss you. At first you thought it was a normal kiss, his tongue forcing your lips to part, but then you felt something in your mouth, and before you knew it you had swallowed it. That got enough sense in you that you pulled away from Chanhee, immediately coughing and bending over, hoping to throw it back up, but that wasn’t an option. Chanhee placed a hand over your mouth, forcing you to sit back up.
“Don’t be wasteful.”
You were worried about what else they had added to the mix. Chanhee didn’t move his hand away until he was certain you wouldn’t be able to throw up the substance you had taken. You still coughed when you had a chance, but you knew it was far too late for that.
“What did you give me!”
“You’ll feel it in a moment.” Haknyeon giggled. “And you’ll like it.”
“… wa… what does that-”
You inhaled sharply as you felt this wave of energy surge through your body. There was the heat of arousal, but this was something else, something more. You were merely taking in the feeling when you snapped your arms free, having broken the chain of your restraints. You fell from the couch onto your hands and knees, shocked over what you had just done. You vaguely made out the sounds of laughter around you, looking up to see the boys with smiles on their faces. Your head was spinning, and you felt a hand on your shoulder which caused you to act. In the blink of an eye you had Changmin pinned beneath you.
“Feels good, doesn’t it?”
“What… what is this… what did you give me?”
“Power.” Changmin chuckled. “At least now we won’t break you.”
The boy freed himself from your grasp and flipped your positions. He gave you a devilish grin before ripping your shirt open. Your hands immediately covered your chest and then you moved to shove Changmin off you. To your surprise you had the strength to do so, knocking him to the ground. He just laughed, not at all fazed by your actions. You stared at your hands again, seeing the remains of the handcuffs on your wrists. If you were really strong like them now, then this was your chance. Just as you were about to run, Younghoon came up from behind, wrapping his arms around you and holding you in a hug. You tried to break free, but he held you tightly, making you question your own strength and his.
“You may be strong,” Younghoon whispered. “But you don’t match us.”
Hyunjae stepped in front of you, his hands gliding over your bare chest. He stopped over your crotch area, his fingers undoing your shorts and a hand slipping into your pants. You squirmed back against Younghoon, but he held you still.
“You’re supposed to be drunk off love.” Hyunjae commented. “Shall I help?”
“Let go.”
“The surge of power probably overtook the aphrodisiac. I’ll fix that.”
You kept your squirming so Hyunjae opted to slide your shorts down, leaving you in your panties for a moment before having them torn off. You shivered from the sudden cold feeling, trying to close your legs but Hyunjae forced them open.
“Be a good girl now, or else you won’t get a treat.”
You couldn’t say anything as Hyunjae’s fingers ran up and down along your folds, making you hold back a moan. You weren’t knowledgeable in this area, and had little to no experience. There wasn’t much time, or interest in the matter, both from you and other parties. This was certainly going to be a first for many things. You still tried to move away, but the more Hyunjae played around with you the harder it was to think.
“… please…”
“Please what? I think you can still use words.”
“… please…”
“Are you a virgin baby? Don’t know what to ask for?”
“…”
“You are, aren’t you? Oh, don’t worry baby, we’re gonna take very good care of you.”
“I wanna do it! I wanna go first!” Chanhee volunteered. “Please, please, I wanna feel her so bad.”
“You guys can fight for it.” Sangyeon mentioned. “Winner takes all. I’ll keep the doll entertained.”
The boys agreed to Sangyeon’s proposal. The eldest took you into his arms, loving your dizzy little state. Your legs were trembling and you were whimpering over the lack of touch. Sangyeon pressed a kiss to your head.
“You good baby?”
“Hm…”
“We’ll play soon, just let the boys have their fun first.”
“We all still get a turn right?” Juyeon questioned. “Even if we don’t win.”
“I’m pretty sure she can keep up with all of us tonight.”
“Good.”
Sangyeon picked you up bridal style, following behind the others. You were subconsciously rubbing your legs together, trying to get back some friction. The moment of power you had was long gone from your mind, the heat engulfing every inch of your skin. It was getting a bit uncomfortable, but the little kisses Sangyeon pressed against your skin felt nice. In your haze all you could think about was them. Even if you had been brought here against your will they hadn’t been cruel to you in any way. They had given you space and let you roam around the house freely, but that was all about to change. You couldn’t fathom the consequences that would come tomorrow, nor did you care. You just wanted to be taken care of in every way possible tonight.
You inhaled sharply as you regained consciousness, feeling a minor throb in your head. You groaned and pushed your head further into the pillow it was resting on, feeling a dull ache all over your body. Once you got yourself together you took in your surroundings. This wasn’t the room you had been given, but going by the decorations and mess, it certainly belonged to one of the boys. Your questions were answered as a hand draped over you and you saw Kevin laying next to you, still asleep or so you thought. He must have felt your gaze on him, or heard you whimpering.
“Morning…”
You didn’t answer, instead moving Kevin’s arm off you and getting out of bed. Although as soon as you stood up you felt dizzy and collapsed to the floor. You managed to catch yourself, getting your hands beneath you, but you winced from a sudden pain in your left hand. You looked down to see a butterfly tattoo on your wrist, one wing blue and the other orange, wrapped up as it was still fresh.
“What… what is this…”
“You might feel sick after your first time…” Kevin mumbled. “Bathroom’s on the left…”
“Huh?”
You weren’t exactly listening, more focused on the new ink you had, but as soon as Kevin mentioned it you felt an ache in your stomach and then you threw up. Kevin groaned when he heard the noise, mustering up the strength to get up. He came over to the other side of the bed, seeing you on your hands and knees.
“My poor baby, come on, let’s get you cleaned up.”
Kevin grabbed your arm and gently got you up to your feet, keeping you close as he helped you towards the bathroom. He sat you down on the toilet, getting a washcloth and holding it under warm water before using it to clean your mouth. You were out of it after throwing up, feeling unsteady and the headache had gotten worse. You probably figured this is what it felt like to be hungover since you never had alcohol before. Then again you hadn’t been drinking last night, something else entirely had happened.
“I know what will make you feel better.”
After cleaning you up and brushing your teeth Kevin helped you onto your feet again, leading you out of the room and towards the kitchen. The others were already up and gathering around for breakfast. A few didn’t hesitate to place a kiss on your cheek after greeting you. Kevin had you sit at the table, letting you put your head down.
“Rough morning?” Changmin questioned. “She doesn’t look so good.”
“She’s fine, but I’m gonna need to clean my room.” Kevin mentioned.
“Yikes. Well, you choose to take her.”
“It’s whatever.”
You were vaguely aware of all the boys around you, feeling more tired than anything else. You had your arms on the table, and you looked over at the tattoo on your wrist. A part of you still thought you were just imagining things, but the throbbing ache from it told you it was very real.
“Here.” Jacob placed a glass on the table in front of you. “You’ll feel better once you drink this.”
“What is it…”
“Just drink it.”
Jacob helped you sit up, and he held the glass up to your lips. It looked a bit like a watered down blue sports drink, but you parted your lips when you felt the liquid against them, getting a sweet taste and having a few gulps.
“Good girl.”
Your headache certainly wasn’t as bad anymore, so you had no trouble sitting up. Two of the others were finishing setting the table, and the smell of eggs and rice filled the air. You were certainly hungry, but now that you could think straight there were other things on your mind.
“What happened last night…”
“You don’t remember, baby?” Sunwoo chuckled. “Did we fuck you that good.”
“… you… we… we did…”
“You were asking for it by the time we actually got started.” Eric commented. “You were so needy like a bitch in heat.”
“Shut up.” You felt your face burning. “I… I…”
“No need to be shy, baby, we had a good time.”
“I don’t remember…”
“It’ll come to you.” Hyunjae stated. “Just give it a minute. If not, well, I don’t mind jogging your memory.”
“Don’t…”
“Why? You certainly weren’t denying any of us last night.”
“I…”
As the conversation kept going you felt yourself getting nervous. The night must have been insane if you didn’t remember it, especially considering the fact you got a tattoo. You wanted to remember, you had to, because besides the obvious there was something else. You shut your eyes to focus, and when you suddenly felt a hand on your shoulder you jumped, falling out of your seat. That’s when you had a rush of images flash through your mind. Your whole body suddenly felt hot and you remembered what had caused all the aches and pains from last night.
Sangyeon held you close as the others fought for the chance to be your first. He had you on his lap straddling his thigh. He couldn’t help but bounce you up and down, hands on your hips guiding you as he had you gently grind on him as well. It wasn’t long before he had a tent in his pants, but he had enough self control to not act on his own urges. He wanted to make sure his boys still had their reward. You on the other hand were full of sugar, drooling a bit and feeling like cotton candy. You had your eyes shut and head thrown back as you let Sangyeon take control, keeping you so well balanced on the edge. You weren’t aware of the fight going on, more focused on yourself until you felt a kiss on your head.
When you opened your eyes you saw Haknyeon smiling down at you. For a moment you swore he had a busted lip and cut on his cheek but those seemed to fade away right before your eyes. He was out of breath but very happy to see you. He took you from Sangyeon, throwing you over his shoulder and smacking your ass before walking off with you. He took you to his room, tossing you onto the bed. Before you knew it he was on top of you, kissing you roughly and exploring your naked body. You didn’t really feel cold, the heat of arousal kept you warm and now you had Haknyeon to provide you with more warmth.
He had his way with you for a good while, the feeling of his cock sending you spiraling into your first orgasm. You didn’t need much prep as Sangyeon had already got you feeling loose. Another orgasm or two later there were knocks at the door. The winner had gotten his prize so now it was time for the others to have their fun. Juyeon was the one to drag you out of bed, surprised you could still walk on your own. Despite already having a few orgasms you still had the strength and stamina to keep up, although you were more concerned with getting your next high.
You happily went with Juyeon, getting messy with him in his own room. He was excited to show you new things, wanting more than just vanilla sex. Although he wasn’t alone, having Changmin and Chanhee in his room waiting for you. There were hands all over your body, massaging your breasts and thighs as wet kisses were placed all over you. With all that attention you were getting lost in the feeling of pleasure. The only thing that took you out of it was when you felt someone penetrate your core. One after the other stretching you out and making you feel a joy you couldn’t describe. You don’t know how you managed to take on all three of them, but you made it through their endeavors.
The night was still young, and you weren’t done with them. While you lay among the boys, splayed out on the bed, finally getting a moment to rest you felt a hand caress your cheeks. You opened your eyes to Kevin coaxing you awake. He took your hand and pulled you out of the giant cuddle pile, asking if you were having fun. By then words were difficult, but the smile on your face spoke for itself. You two danced around the hall since you were starting to get uneasy on your feet. You were probably heading over to Kevin’s room, but your arm was suddenly grabbed and you were yanked into Hyunjae’s arms. He had started you off early that night, and it was about time he finished that up.
His fingers trailed along your sloppy center, feeling just what kind of mess you had between your legs and eager to add to it. Of course Kevin wasn’t just going to let him have you all to yourself, shoving the two into the nearest bedroom, getting out of his clothes in the process. Everyone’s kiss was unique, some gentle, some rough, some desperate and hungry for you. Hyunjae was the first one to add to the festivities, tying you up against the bed and limiting your movements. You were already feeling sore, but he wasn’t going to let that stop him. While Hyunjae continued to play with your sloppy cunt Kevin was preparing something else.
You felt him trail his fingers along your lips, teasing you before pushing two digits into your mouth. Instinctively you knew to suck on them, letting your tongue swirl around. Kevin was quite proud to see you acting appropriately, and for that you deserved a reward. He pulled his fingers out with a loud pop, letting you whine for a bit before putting something much bigger against your lips. You opened your mouth without question, taking in his whole length inch by inch. Then you felt Hyunjae filling you up, getting stimulated from both ends. You let them take control, just floating on cloud nine as they got another handful of orgasms out of you, making your eyes roll to the back of your head multiple times.
Once you were finally wrapped up in Hyunjae’s arms you were really feeling sore in your legs and jaw. You did want to rest, but as you were dozing off a hand came down and pulled your head off the pillow. You were met with Eric’s piercing gaze, seeing a rather psychotic glint in his eyes. Of course you weren’t gonna get off easy, he still had to punish you for you breaking and entering. You probably should have explained to him at some point you found the door unlocked, but that wasn’t going to happen anytime soon, nor would it matter to him. Despite Hyunjae’s protest Eric took you to his own room.
Although it wasn’t long before you were joined by another. Sunwoo had crawled into bed, pulling you into his arms and snuggling against you. He wanted to be soft and sweet but Eric had other plans. Took a bit of talking but he got Sunwoo on board. Next thing you knew you were on top of Sunwoo, barely able to make out his words of praise. His hands ran up and down along your chest, taking your breasts into his hands and massaging them ever so gently. You mewled at his touch, gently rocking your hips. You were exhausted, but your body still craved more friction. Eric placed his hands on your hips, guiding you down onto Sunwoo’s cock, making sure you took in everything.
He gave you a moment to revel in the feeling before bending you over. You didn’t know what he was planning until he pushed himself into you right alongside Sunwoo. The stretch was like nothing before, and you swear you saw white for a moment. You leaned back against Eric, giggling as he whispered dirty things in your ear. They gave you a moment to adjust and really feel them before they started moving. They tried to be gentle and slow at first but their own burgers got the better of them. You felt like they were tearing you apart, but in a good way. Your orgasms all blended together, and all you remembered was ending up sandwiched between them, still full with their cocks and cum while you all wound down from your high.
One moment you were in bed, the next you were in someone else’s arms. You could barely make out Sangyeon as he carried you bridal style, but the smile was obvious. You snuggled against him, not wanting to let go when he set you down. You felt hands on your body once more, and not just too. A hand grabbed your chin and you locked eyes with Jacob. He had such a content smile on his face, placing soft kisses all over you. The eldest of the bunch had been patiently waiting to finish you off. You were already at your limits but they pushed you past that, taking you in whatever way you saw fit.
Younghoon had you bouncing up and down on him, making deeper bruises on your hips. Jacob was gentler and such a tease as he took you from behind while you stayed on top of Younghoon, letting the other watch the show. Sangyeon though, he dragged you out of bed and took you against the wall, surprising you with his strength and resolve. He didn’t let up, making sure you were still enjoying yourself even if you were so far gone. It wasn’t easy to close your legs, and you felt so full you swear your stomach was a bit bigger. You thought you’d finally get to sleep, but you weren’t going to be left alone just yet.
You could vaguely recall Sangyeon getting you into a bath with him, cleaning you up and making sure you were well cared for after such a night. Kevin had found the two of you and helped with getting you dressed. Everyone else was mostly out for the night. Kevin’s room was one that wasn’t used to so he offered to share his bed, happily taking you with so the two of you could sleep together. You didn’t hesitate to snuggle against him, still feeling sore but glad to finally wind down and rest. It was quite impressive you made it through such a night. You knew you’d probably be all kinds of bruised tomorrow, but that was a problem for later.
You couldn’t help the dopey smile on your face as you remembered all of this, all the things you had done the night prior. It was like nothing you had ever experienced before, and you didn’t even know if you’d get close to it ever again. Although you quickly had to tell yourself to get your act together. Even if you now remembered what you had done, you could look back and see what was bothering you. The boys had given you an aphrodisiac, but there was something else too. You sat up, lifting up your shirt and seeing that you had no bruise or marks of any kind. Your skin was untouched, but you knew that shouldn’t be the case. While you were lost in your own head Juyeon and Eric helped you get back in your seat.
“Are you okay, baby?” Eric asked. “Did you remember something?”
“Last night…”
“Oh, that’s good. Wouldn’t want to be the only one to remember how capable you are.”
“What did you give me?”
“Ah that, it was good, right?”
“What was it!?”
“Power.” Jacob stated. “True power.”
“It was a drug.”
“So is ibuprofen, your point?”
“What exactly did you give me?”
“I already told you. Power. Don’t you remember? You broke the handcuffs with ease, you kept up with all of us. Despite how rough some of them might have been, you don’t have a single bruise on your body.”
“…”
“It’s temporary.” Younghoon assured. “You’re back to normal now. Although, if you ever want more, you just have to ask. Only the first one is free.”
You needed a moment, you needed to be alone. Without saying anything you left the table, finding the nearest open room and locking yourself inside. You felt a bit sick, coming to terms with the fact they had given you some sort of unknown drug. Now you only had the lingering taste of that power high. You didn’t want to believe what they had told you, but you had felt, and moreover you had seen it too. That night at the warehouse, the incredible strength they displayed, it was all real and now you knew how. Whatever drug this was, they used it a lot. You had your suspicions about their business, especially once you saw all the weapons. If they were some kind of gang in the area, they certainly had their advantage to stay in power.
All this speculation just gave you more reason to want to leave. Even if they were good to you, the kind of life they lived wasn’t something you wanted to be a part of. After that night you continued to avoid them, not wanting to form any kind of lasting attachment. They certainly gave you space, but were a bit more willing to try for your attention, especially since they had no problem getting handsy with you now. From what you did get, they seemed to be so fun, but you couldn’t just drop the idea of escape. Your biggest problem was that ankle bracelet you had, but it seemed the solution was around the corner.
One day you overheard a few of the boys talking about a potential party at the house. Of course you came up as a subject since they weren’t sure they could trust you to behave. A party would be a great opportunity, so you had to make sure you were allowed to attend. In order for that to happen you had to engage with them and socialize, show them that you could behave. You really had to let your guard down and be friendly with them. You rejected any advances they made and they respected that, probably very happy that you were done giving them the cold shoulder. Eventually the party came up in conversation around you, so you offered to help with planning and set up. They happily agreed.
You made sure a lot of alcohol was purchased, and intended to get them drunk. This was going to be your night, but in order to do this you needed one key ingredient. You needed the ankle bracelet off, and fast, and the only real solution you saw was that drug. You had broken handcuffs with ease, so with that kind of power you’d break the ankle bracelet quickly and then get out before they even knew you were gone. The only problem was that you had to ask for it, and not get denied. You didn’t see why they would say no, but you also needed to make sure you didn’t arouse suspicion.
The day of the party you helped with setting up, popping open a bottle of vodka and taking a small sip before pouring shots for the others. They happily took the drink you offered, cheering to a night of fun. You needed to pick one of them and you figured your best bet would be Eric. You kept your eye on him and waited for your chance. People were starting to come to the house, so you figured things would be getting started soon. You found Eric and got him alone, coming up from behind and wrapping your arms around him in a hug. He was a bit startled at first, but happy to see you, placing a kiss on your head.
“Eric.”
“Hm?”
“I want tonight to be fun.”
“It will be.”
“But you know what would guarantee it?”
“What?”
“If I got to be strong like the rest of you…”
“Ah, you want a special party favor, huh?”
“It should last me all night right? How else am I gonna keep up with all of you?”
“Good point, but promise you’ll behave.”
“Pinky promise.”
“Good girl.”
Eric took your hand and led you to another room. It was another armory they had, and he told you to stay put as he got something out of a safe. He presented a pill to you, telling you to open your mouth. Your plan had been to take it later when you were ready to act, but Eric wasn’t going to let you leave without consuming it. As far as you knew, it lasted a few hours, so you should be okay either way, but you were gonna have to act the first chance you got. You gave Eric a smile and took the pill. After a moment you felt this spark of power run through your whole body. It made you dizzy for a second but Eric assured you the uneasiness would pass and you’d be your normal self, just better.
Soon enough the party began and things got wild fast. You made it a point not to drink, but you still hung around the boys, wanting to engage with them for a bit before disappearing. As the night was getting on, you started to iron out the finer details of your escape. When you had a chance you glanced outside, seeing all the cars parked around. You considered taking one, but you didn’t know how to drive. What you needed was to get your hands on a phone, figure out your location and call a cab. With everyone around drinking and having a good time, it shouldn’t be hard to sneak a phone, and money, off someone.
You kept in mind the time, keeping an eye out for someone vulnerable, and occasionally testing your strength to make sure you were still able to break free. You stuck around those that were drinking, getting friendly with someone and managing to snatch their phone. You cautiously snuck away to get some privacy, finding a bathroom. You managed to unlock the phone and checked the address. Thankfully you weren’t so far from civilization and called for a cab. You had about fifteen minutes to get out of this house, and the first thing you needed to do was get that ankle bracelet off.
You sat down on the floor and figured out a good grip, taking in a deep breath before pulling and breaking the bracelet in half. You thought maybe some noise would be made or something, but it was silent. Lucky was on your side. You tossed the broken thing in the trash and made your way out of the bathroom, needing to get outside. Part of the party was in the backyard, but it wasn’t a good idea to go around, so you had to exit through the front. The door itself might not be the best, but you could give it a shot. If not, you had no problem jumping out a window. Thankfully you got away from the house undetected, checking the phone and then leaving it by a car before heading to the main road.
When you saw the lights of the cab you were finally able to let out a breath. It brought such relief to be moving away from the house, free from your captivity. The cab took you back to the only place you could go, to your uni campus. You had been gone for a little over two weeks, but hopefully nothing had gotten messed up in your absence. You knocked on the door for your roommate to let you in, not bothering to answer them about your recent whereabouts. You were so happy to collapse into your bed, even if it wasn’t as comfortable, feeling like you could finally get some real sleep.
Thankfully a good amount of your things had been in your dorm room, but you would need a new phone, and new cards. Come morning you got to emailing your professors with some basic excuse of being ill and asking for assignments to make up. Out of curiosity you tested your strength, but you were back to being a normal person. At least you had money, so you could afford a new ID card, and even though you could afford a new phone, that involved leaving campus. You knew the guys couldn’t just waltz onto school property, and they didn’t know where your dorm was, so this was the safest place for you. By now they sure knew you were gone and probably pissed, which meant you were in danger.
Your best bet for now was to wait, just let this all die down and maybe they would forget about you and move on. The bright side to not having a phone was that they had no means of reaching you. As for your classes, you still had your laptop and could email classmates and do assignments. It was kinda hard going back to your lectures as if nothing had happened. Of course you had a decent amount of work to catch up on, and your grades were gonna take a hit, but at least you were free. Even if that was true, you did have this uneasy feeling. You felt paranoid, like you were always being watched. You couldn’t sleep that easy anymore, and you felt quite irritable. Still you did your best to just focus on being a normal university student.
“Nice tattoo.”
You were taking notes in a class when someone had made the comment. At first you were confused, but then you remembered the butterfly tattoo on your wrist. You never asked about it, not remembering how you got it anyway. After that night of passion you were out cold, and they had probably done it then. It was the least of your worries and even now you had completely forgotten about it until someone brought it up. The tattoo wasn’t a bother, but it wasn’t your thing, nor did you want any sort of connection to them. You did a bit of research and made a call to set up an appointment with a tattoo artist to have your tattoo removed. It was risky to go out, but you wanted that thing gone.
You made sure to cover up and hide your face, constantly checking your surroundings to make sure you weren’t being followed. This little outing of yours was dangerous, but if it wall went down in one piece you could probably start to relax. Since you were out, you figured you could get a new phone too. After the tattoo removal of course. Thankfully you made it to the shop without issue, introducing yourself and being moved to the back. You were glad there weren’t any windows where you were seated, so you felt less worried about removing your jacket, hat and mask. The chair you were in was like a dentist chair, but it was quite cozy.
“Alright, I’m Hongjoong, I’ll be your artist today, although I believe you’re here for a tattoo removal.”
“Yeah, just a crazy night, and I made a mistake.”
“No worries. Can you show me where the tattoo is?”
“Sure.” You rolled up your sleeve. “It’s this.”
“Oh…”
“Is there a problem?”
“No, no, not at all. It’s pretty.”
“I want it gone.”
“Yeah, of course. I will need to strap down your arm though.”
“What!?”
“Removing a tattoo isn’t painless and considering it is on your wrist, I don’t want you moving too much during the process.”
“Ah, that makes sense. Alright then.”
“Good. Just give me a second.”
Hongjoong got up and disappeared for a moment, coming back and using a belt to strap down your arm. He made sure it wasn’t uncomfortable, and that it should allow him to work without issue. He got up once again, giving you a chance to collect yourself. Although when he returned he grabbed your other arm and strapped it down as well.
“What are you doing!?”
You tried to fight him, but your other arm was already restrained. Hongjoong didn’t answer you, he just made sure you couldn’t escape and then left you alone. You screamed at him, then started crying for help, hoping someone else would come, but there was no one. You continued your attempt of escape, but it got you nowhere. When you heard the door you started screaming again. You heard footsteps approaching, thinking you were finally gonna get some help but you immediately went silent when you saw who approached.
“Well, well, well, look what we have here.”
“I didn’t harm her.” Hongjoong commented.
“Good. I’m glad we’re still on the same page.” Sangyeon chuckled. “Care to explain yourself, baby?”
You didn’t want to meet Sangyeon’s gaze, but you could feel his eyes digging into you. He didn’t need a response from you. Instead he had the other boys gag you and then untie you, dragging you out of the shop. You wound up in the back of a car, sandwiched between Changmin and Younghoon, knowing very well their strength outmatched you, so there was no escaping them. Of course you wound up back at that house. You were dragged inside and taken down below, thrown into an empty room. You got the gag off yourself and tried to run for the door, only to get tossed back.
“What the hell were you thinking!” Sangyeon yelled. “Did you really think a stunt like that would work!?”
“I got out of this house, didn’t I?”
“Oh, aren’t you quite cocky for a dead girl walking.”
“What?”
“You’re doing much better than we thought.” Hyunjae mentioned. “We thought you’d be hospitalized by now.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Did you forget again?” Eric questioned. “The night of the party you asked for power. I should have known better.”
“You were the easiest target.”
“You bitch!”
Eric wanted to get a hit, but he was held back by Juyeon and Sunwoo. You were putting on quite a brave act, but the truth was you were terrified. You had done well to avoid their grasp, but in the end they still caught you.
“What the fuck do you guys want with me! And what’s with this talk about death? Are you gonna kill me this time?”
“Oh no, none of that.” Jacob said. “But the truth is you are dying. Haven’t you felt it?”
“Felt what?”
“The withdrawal.”
“Huh?”
“What? You think taking drugs doesn’t have its consequences?”
“I…  what?”
Chanhee chuckled. “After using the drug you’re supposed to take something else to negate the side effects. Remember the little hangover cure we gave you the first time?”
“… why didn’t you tell me this!”
“Why would we? It’s a means of keeping you in line.”
“You-”
“It seems it hasn’t hit you that hard yet, but it’s only gonna get worse. Surely you’ve had trouble sleeping by now, maybe feeling irritable and jumpy? It’s the withdrawal.”
“…”
“You’re gonna start feeling really sick soon.” Juyeon mentioned. “And it’s possible to get to a point of no return. We wouldn’t want you dying, now would we?”
“Where is it! Where’s this cure of yours!”
“Do you seriously think we’re just gonna give it to you? After the stunt you pulled?”
“You’re the ones who knowingly put my life in danger!”
“You asked for it. You asked for all of it. A night of passion like never before, and a night of power. Don’t blame us.”
“Fine. What do you want?”
“Seriously?” Haknyeon questioned. “Is it not obvious?”
“Amuse me.”
“You, silly. We want you, and we’ll do anything to get you back.”
“So if you want your cure.” Kevin added. “No more running away.”
“And if I refuse?”
“Oh, you really wanna play with your life? We can always come back to this conversation when sunlight starts to hurt you.”
“Wait.”
“Hm?”
“I… I’ll stay… but…”
“This isn’t a negotiation.” Sunwoo stated.
“I want to go back to school.”
“What?”
“I still want to be able to study and get my degree. You can drop me off and pick me. I won’t-”
“I said-”
“Sure.” Sangyeon interrupted. “Why not.”
“Sangyeon-”
“Hand it over.”
The others stared at Sangyeon with questioning looks, not really agreeing with his decision, but he wasn’t gonna hear anything else. Jacob came over and handed him a water
bottle with a similar blue sports drink color. Sangyeon opened it up and handed it to you.
“Drink it. Every last drop.”
This was what they had given you last time, so you did trust it. You emptied out the water bottle, immediately feeling this tension leaving you body. Perhaps all your worries weren’t just in your head, but part of the side effects to this drug of theirs.
“Better?”
“Yes.”
“Now we can talk.”
“Wat-”
You were suddenly shoved up against the wall, hand around your throat. Sangyeon had you pinned, glaring daggers at you. It was hard to breathe, and you tried clawing at his arm but he didn’t budge at all.
“You know, the second you broke that ankle bracelet we knew, but our guests kept us distracted so you got very lucky. That won’t be happening again.”
“I… I’ll… I’ll come… back…”
Sangyeon chuckled. “It’s funny you think I’m actually letting you set foot outside this house again.”
“You… you-”
“I make the rules here. The thing is, you just don’t get it.”
Sangyeon grabbed your arm, holding up your wrist to show you the tattoo you had. He leaned forward to place a soft kiss on it.
“This right here, it’s how we found you. It’s our mark, it lets everyone know who you belong to. Our people are everywhere, so even if you did end up in the hospital, you’d wind up right back here where you belong with us. It doesn’t matter where you go, we will find you.”
Sangyeon dropped you to your hands and knees and you gasped for air. You coughed as you tried to steady your breathing, realizing everything else that had been said previously was a lie. There was no getting out of this place, not again. After a moment Sangyeon kneeled down and grabbed your chin.
“Baby, I want you, even if I have to hurt you.”
“… why…”
“Cause you came into our lives, and you’re too good to pass up.”
“… please…”
“Don’t lie to yourself. As if you truly want to leave and return to that boring life of yours. Stay. Let us take care of you and treat you the way you deserve.”
“…”
“You’ll come around. In the meantime.” Sangyeon pulled out a pill. “Take this.”
“I… you just…”
“An ankle bracelet won’t work with you, so might as well use different means. Go on now.”
There wasn’t much of a choice here. If you didn’t do it willingly you knew Sangyeon would force it down your throat. So you took the pill, feeling that spark once more.
“Good girl. You can keep up with us better this way, and now you know you won’t last long out there if you were to leave again. Which is not gonna happen, right?”
“No…”
“I need you to say it.”
“I won’t run away again…”
“Good. You won’t regret meeting us, I promise.”
“I do.”
“Watch it. You don’t want us to test your limits again, do you? Or maybe you do. I don’t mind having a brat in this house.”
“… sorry… I… I didn’t…”
“Much better, although we do need to carry out your punishment for running away. Last time was nothing compared to this, so I hope you’re ready. You won’t be sleeping tonight.”

Lee Sangyeon is a patient man. He babysits his young nephews, tutors underclassmen on weekends, and keeps his ten gremlins wonderful friends out of trouble. But his sanity is slipping. Granted, being president of the TBZ fraternity is hard work, but it's starting to feel more like running a daycare.
Though, with all its chaos over the years, rarely has he felt the need to wring anyone's neck out over a few minor inconveniences. Lately, however... well, his fingers start to twitch at the sight of his housemates.
And it's exactly that familiar feeling that begins to tingle at his fingertips when the infuriating voice of Kim Sunwoo follows the slamming of the frat house door. It startles Sangyeon from his dozed state and you as well. Flinching so hard your fingers that were previously twirling a lock of his hair pull painfully at his scalp. "Shit– oh! Sorry, babe." You hiss, petting his hair back down once you realize.
Sangyeon lifts his head from your lap solely to glare at the obtuse boy. His hands and arms adorned with multiple paper grocery bags and beer cases. "A little help would be nice," he jabs, mid-struggle to pile them onto the kitchen island before his strength gives out.
"A little peace and quiet would be nice." Sangyeon cuts, rolling back over to face the television. He stirs, stretching out his tired muscles before sinking back into the couch and your warmth. Desperately chasing the cozy feeling he'd been robbed of too soon.
"Is all that for the party tonight?" You ask Sunwoo. An innocent question for the sake of being polite that the boy somehow takes as an invitation.
"Almost all of it, Changmin is grabbing a few more bottles from the liquor store– is that Love Island?" He points, creeping up behind the sofa.
Whatever merciful God is listening. Please. No. Sangyeon begs.
"Yeah, it's the most recent–"
"I love Love Island– scoot!"
Sangyeon pulls his knees up just in time as Sunwoo jumps the couch, swinging his legs dangerously close to the glass coffee table, causing Sangyeon's fingers to twitch once more.
"Don't you have other things to be doing?" Sangyeon's voice is low in a silent warning. One Sunwoo purposely remains blissfully ignorant to.
"You know I personally like the British version better." He rambles on. Your boyfriend shoots you a pleading look. Whether he's begging you to do something or finding the strength to keep his cool, you aren't sure.
You give a pitiful shrug in return. Sangyeon just sighs, dropping his head to your shoulder. Perhaps the living room wasn't the best place for alone time.
Tumblr media
Surely, he couldn't be bothered in his room. He even added a "do not disturb" sign for good measure. Sure, Juyeon's music was a tad loud and he could hear tidbits of the show playing downstairs, but he could tune that out. Just a few more sentences and he'd be done with his paper and finally free to spend time with you.
"How much longer?" you ask, peaking over to where Sangyeon sits hunched over his laptop on his bed.
"Maybe like five minutes." He doesn't bother looking up from the word document. "I just need to figure out the phrasing on this, it's been driving me mad."
"You've been figuring it out four nearly two hours," you step over to the end of Sangyeon's bed. "Maybe you need to take a break and come back with fresh eyes."
He stubbornly shakes his head, running his fingers through his already messy locks. "I need to get it over with." At this point, you're standing right over him. Yet still, it's like you're not even there. Though you must admit, the focused scowl on his face is quite adorable.
"Sangyeon."
Nothing. Not even as you tilt down to his level does he pause his typing.
"Sangyeon." You call a little sweeter this time.
Again, nothing.
Having finally waited long enough, you tip his chin back with a single finger. He looks slightly miffed at first, but then his eyes land on your wardrobe. "Is that my shirt?" He whispers. Jaw slack as his eyes not so subtly roam every inch of the fabric, admiring how it hangs from your figure.
"It is." Matter of fact, it's not just his shirt, but a pair of his boxers as well. A detail that short-circuits his brain for a solid five seconds. It feels like he's been knocked in the chest, unable to say anything. His eyes flit from your outfit, to your lips, and back down.
"Sangyeon?" You purr.
"Yeah?"
"Click save."
You've never seen him move so fast. Throwing his laptop with such force it nearly flies off the bed. Sangyeon effortlessly pulls you over to straddle his lap, grinning so hard it makes you giggle.
"When did you even change into these?" His hands rest at your waist under the thin cotton tee, letting his pinky dip into the waistband of your, really his, boxers.
"I got bored and raided your closet while you had your nose buried in Microsoft Word." Your hands clasp behind his neck. "You don't mind, right?"
"Definitely not." Sangyeon's fingers dig into your skin as he sloppily attaches his lips to your own. He's greedy, like a prisoner starved for water on a hot summer day, but that doesn't seem to bother you.
"I'm gonna need this back though, you know?" He teases against your lips, pulling at the hem of the cotton covering your torso.
"You'll have to offer something in exchange."
"Now that," Sangyeon's eyes light up, "I can do–"
The door to his room flies open with a force so great Sangyeon half expects the Hulk to be standing in his door frame. The resounding bang of it ricocheting off the wall accidentally making Sangyeon dig his fingers a little too deep into your skin. It earns a yelp from you and you're shuffling off his lap in an attempt to escape his iron grip.
"Hyung–!" Eric exclaims, but takes a pause in his panicked state to greet you. "Oh, hi Y/N!"
"Hi, Eric," you wave awkwardly.
Sangyeon is scrambling to cover you with his comforter as fast as possible. Not that you're wearing anything particularly revealing, but it's still nothing Eric needs to see. Not that it matters, Eric doesn't seem too concerned with you or the state you and your boyfriend were previously in.
"Hyung, I need your help!"
Tumblr media
This is Sangyeon's absolute last resort.
Does he necessarily want to spend his only free period of the day with you in a noisy, crowded, cafe? No. He'd much rather be in his room with you curled up in his arms, completely and utterly alone. But so long as he lives with ten men who have never known the concept of privacy, he'll have to settle.
At least you seem happy with the lunch date he planned. Animatedly talking on and on about how you've been wanting to try this cafe. And if you're happy, then Sangyeon is happy. He'd count today as a success even if all he does is admire the beautiful pair of eyes across from him while you ramble.
"—Everything just looks so good, I don't know if I should go for a coffee or a fruity tea."
"Get both if you want." He offers, but you scrunch your nose up.
"That's a bit much, don't you think?"
"Then why don't you get a coffee, I'll get a tea, and whichever you like better you can have." A smile breaks out on your face at that idea.
"See, this is why I love you."
Yeah, Sangyeon thinks, this was a success.
Well. Almost.
"Sangyeon? Y/N?" Comes an unfortunately familiar voice. "What are you guys doing here?"
"Oh, you've got to be fucking joking," Sangyeon pinches the bridge of his nose as Kevin Moon and his impeccable timing make an appearance.
"We're on a date." He cuts, hoping the boy will get the hint to leave. But of course, he doesn't. Instead, Kevin pulls up an empty chair and plops down at the end.
"Have you guys been here before? It's my first time and I can't figure out if I want a coffee or a tea."
Tumblr media
Sangyeon gives up. They win. The ten little demons infesting his home win.
"Jail can't be that bad, right?" He ponders aloud as the two of you lay sprawled out on his bed. Even you've begun to notice your boyfriend's slow descent into insanity. And while you do feel bad, it is a little comical. "What's a few murder charges... or ten."
You listen to him rant, his head in your lap and arms encircling your hips. You continue to brush your fingers through his hair, hoping the action will induce some sort of calming effect.
He props his chin up on your stomach to look at you pouty lips and puppy eyes. "It's so unfair," he whines like a toddler.
"I think you'll live," you chuckle.
"I literally won't."
Like clockwork, there's a knock on his door. Sangyeon groans, exasperated. "Ohh my God, seriously?" He faceplants into your stomach. "You deal with them. If I do it I'm leaving in handcuffs."
"Come in," you call.
Haknyeon peaks in, frowning when he sees Sangyeon's state. "What's wrong with him?" He points.
"Everything."
"Nothing," you both answer. "He's just being dramatic. What did you need, Haknyeon?"
"Uh, well I was wondering if you could help me with a dilemma?" He asks shyly, tip-toeing the rest of the way in.
"What's the dilemma?"
He pulls two shirts from behind his back. "So, I finally asked out that girl in my class—"
"Aw, Hak, congrats!" You coo.
"—Thanks," he beams. "We're supposed to meet for coffee in an hour. Which shirt should I wear?"
"Whichever gets you out of my room the fastest," Sangyeon grumbles, voice muffled.
"Shush!" You slap the back of his head in warning. "I think blue would go well with your eyes, Hak." You smile and Haknyeon lights up.
"Okay, perfect! That's the one Younghoon and Jacob picked as well. Thanks, Y/N, thanks Hyung!" The boy is already turning on his heels as he calls out his thanks. Sangyeon lifts his hand in a half-hearted wave as the door slams shut.
"Be nice to him, he's excited," you chastise. "He's been ogling over that girl for months. This is a big deal for him."
Sangyeon sighs, propping his head back up. "I know it is, who do you think helped him pick out and iron his pants this morning?"
"They really look up to you, you know? That's why they're always bothering you for stuff."
Your warm palm comes to rest against his cheek. It's frustrating for him, always feeling responsible for everyone around him, you know this. And while his willingness to take on that challenge is something you've always admired, you do fear him getting burnt out.
Sangyeon frowns. "I know, I just wish I could have a few moments to be selfish. Is this how parents feel?"
You laugh at his remark. "I think even parents get more of a break than you do."
"Told you we should've used protection." He grins with his gummy smile at his own joke. Making you playfully flick his forehead.
Tumblr media
"Getting all of us out of the house at once is a big ask, Y/N." Jacob grimaces as takes a sip of his of his cold brew.
What was originally supposed to be an intense study session for your upcoming physics test quickly turned into you debriefing Jacob on Sangyeon's declining sanity. Which you're eighty percent sure Jacob only entertained as an excuse to procrastinate. Because it's been two hours and neither of you has so much as opened a single textbook despite his multitude of complaints about being unprepared.
"I know, but you're their vice president, isn't there something you can do? You could organize a charity event or something." You pout. "I'm suffering too here!"
"Even if I could find a way to convince ten—" he holds up both hands with fingers spread for emphasis. "—ten, that's one-zero, men to all clear out, I don't want to be the one babysitting them."
"You'd have Chanhee there to help."
"The odds of getting Chanhee to do anything outside of his job description are about as good as me passing this test." Jacob snorts, and all hopes of getting TBZ's treasurer involved are squashed then and there.
Jacob is your only hope, so you're going to have to lay it on thick.
"Come on, Jacob, please. Sangyeon really needs the break."
"Don't give me that look." He jabs a finger at you.
"Please, Jacob."
"No."
You sink back into your seat, letting out a long and dramatic sigh. Attempting to look as pitiful as possible. And judging by the way Jacob's leg won't stop anxiously bouncing beneath the table, it's working.
"Don't do that," Jacob whines.
Silence.
"Okay, fine, I'll figure it out." He throws his hands up in surrender. "Just quit pouting and help me study."
"Thank you, Jacob," You perk up. "You're the best!"
"Yeah, yeah."
Tumblr media
The excited call you get from Sangyeon telling you to come over immediately comes sooner than expected. You're not usually one to question miracles, but you are curious as to how Jacob managed to drag everyone out of the house on a Tuesday night.
"Where is everyone?" You ask as Sangyeon tugs you through the front door.
"Don't know. Don't care." He smiles brightly. "What I do know, is I'm not touching a single textbook, laptop, or phone."
You aren't sure when the last time you saw your boyfriend this happy was.
Sangyeon plops down onto the couch, pulling you into his lap as he does so. "It's gonna be just me, you, some take-out, this couch, and the last season of Love Island Australia."
You snort. "You say that, but I'm betting twenty on you being knocked out by the end of the first episode."
"That's actually the plan," he grins smugly before pulling a blanket over his legs and letting his head fall into your lap. He's not even facing the screen. You're starting to think he just invited you over to be his personal pillow.
But you let him, because it's well deserved.

♫ THIS WORLD - ATEEZ PLAYING DISTANTLY ♫
Have you ever wondered how to build the perfect human? Perhaps in the future this will be the new normal, microchips for humans, technology that wanders slightly too far down the uncanny valley, maybe even your pet dog will be replaced by a hologram. In this world this the reality. However, there is still good in the world, the last survivors of the apocalypse want their lives back.
SMASH!
The shrieking of glass shattering as the wind breezed through the back of a man’s jacket, falling gracefully from a 45 story building as the world buzzed around him, tearing off the suit he’d worn as a disguise. Security alarms screamed in the background as he slid a small mechanical device into his pocket. Landing with two feet on the ground, the feather falling device strapped to his ankles allowing him to hover to the ground gently.
“Another piece of evidence collected, delta. Over.” He held his palm over the winged ear piece in his ear, waiting for a response from the team controlling the mission, speeding away on the electric motorcycle he’d parked in an alleyway beside the building before anyone could trail him.
Sangyeon was probably the companies most competent agent, with equal intelligence and equal agility. He was a spy at times, some sort of ninja at others. He was richly adored by the women and men of the company due to his good looks and charm. He was closely watched at all times, to preserve his useful nature from danger or threat. Standing at the top of the agent food chain, he wore all black at all times, an unsuspecting item of headwear, ranging from motorcycle helmets to even stupid sunglasses that would profile everyone he passed that day.
“Hm, looks like you found another piece of the puzzle, delta.” You smile proudly at the man, lifting the digital helmet that was enclosed around his skull. He shook his head, revealing his messy hair that was only 2 or three shades darker than his sweet honey skin as he arrived in the base’s lab.
You had to admit, the way the suit he wore hugged his figure was probably one of the most attractive things you’ve made of a man. You’d designed his suit for him, every dimension of the suit was measured by you, built to blend in with everything he encountered. It hugged his biceps and wrapped his torso perfectly.
“What is it? It’s not one of the typical syringe mechanisms.” He observed the piece, handing the small card to you, flinching as it folded into an even smaller piece upon your touch.
“Well you know how a sim card works? For your hollophone, it’s just like that. This seems to be a device that can enter the brain straight through the ear canal, what’s scary about it, this device can be inserted without anyone noticing.” You present him a holographic demonstration, the white outline of a holographic human appearing as you slot the piece into the ear canal, watching lines wrap around the brain marking points and learning information.
“That’s terrifying.” He walked a circle around the lab table, observing the demonstration and then looking at you with a serious gaze as you closed the tab, the device falling to the table. “There could be thousands of these and we’d have no idea.”
“Luckily it seems like you’ve found a prototype. I doubt these are ready for full circulation yet. Considering the information it can learn is only basic level compared to the syringes.” You reassure the man, folding your arms over your lab coat and watching as the device was lasered under the table, destroying the feeble piece of technology immediately. “And, they seem to break pretty easily, one bit of head trauma and the occupier's brain would be fried meat.”
“I’m sure your next mission will be putting a stop to this line of production.” You sighed, looking over the boy whose life seemed to be always in danger being chased by government officials.
Tumblr media
—-🏍️—- A FEW HOURS EARLIER
“I’m telling you y/n. we’re running out of agents there’s no one else who could complete this mission but you. We simply don’t have the intelligence.” The head of the companies son looked at you with a voice of genuine concern, his eyes glinting in fear of their mission falling to pieces.
You were a lab technician, a developer, a philosopher of science, not an agent, not anyone capable of the stunts performed by the professionals that were amongst the companies agents such as Sangyeon Lee, delta.
“I don’t think I can, Younghoon. It’s too risky.” You bit your lip in anxiety, tearing the skin on the inside. As you thought through the idea and all the possible horrendous outcomes.
“Listen, it’s one mission. Sangyeon will be with you, I just need the intelligence, we have back up available. If you don’t pull through with this, the world will be over.” Not attempting to guilt trip you in anyway, Younghoon was simply stating what was true. If you didn’t sneak into the production lines of this human sim card, the world would be over.
“I’ll think about it, give me 12 hours.” If there wasn’t such a time crunch you would have said a few days, but you didn’t have that much time. That’s how fast technology moves now, in a world with no laws.
—-🏍️—-
Sangyeon peered over at you curiously, wondering what was on your mind as you paced the lab moving misplaced items and storing them away - your eyes black in deep thought, the wings of the headphones you wore frowning making it clear you were sad.
“What’s on your mind?” He asked, stepping behind a screen to change into regular clothes watching as you went to turn around but quickly turned back as you saw the bare top of his built shoulders.
“Younghoon asked me to do a mission.” You fiddled with the microscope on the counter, facing the wall for his privacy, even though he didn’t care at all at who was looking at him.
“Well, do it. After all, we don’t have enough intelligence left.” He simply shrugged off the worries, in his mind, you were completely competent enough to do the assignment and couldn’t understand your stress.
“Well, it’s not that simple. I’ll get myself killed. I’m not trained enough.” You turned around as the screen disappeared, Sangyeon now dressed in parachute bottoms and a well fitted black shirt leaned over the counter looking at you dubiously.
“Wellll, let’s start now. Here’s a gun.” He pulled a gun out of thin air making you flinch with sudden action as he smirked thinking of how adorable your reaction was.
“Absolutely not.” Your eyes widened, the wings of your ear piece sparking up in shock, as he chuckled to himself deviously.
“Well you’re gonna have to.” He smiled, asking you to hold out your palm as you accepted it, clutching it and being careful only to hover over the trigger gently.
He opened a target, a digital hologram of a human outline with a white sphere revolving in its chest where the heart was located. You got nervous as he placed himself behind you, feeling his breath over your neck as he leaned his arms over yours, placing his palms over your hand and correcting the posture.
“You want to close one eye to get the aim right, I’m sure you know those basics. Now, focus on the point and shoot.” With his words you made the shot, him not moving away from you for support as the sphere exploded and the target cleared.
The next hologram was a moving target, Sangyeon guided you to follow its movements but all you could think was how sensational his breath felt over your neck, how masculine his scent was and how strong his arms felt as they rested over yours.
Despite this, you followed the target, managing to land a critical hit on the hologram as it lit up green and cleared.
“You’re a natural, you’ll be fine y/n. I’ll be standing next to you the entire time.” He reassured you with a sweet smile, you smiled back being sure not to make eye contact as you recovered from his movements.
—-🏍️—-
The day of the mission had arrived, Younghoon was beyond relieved that you’d agreed, as he briefed the idea to you and Sangyeon. In this post apocalyptic world, it was up to you two to save the remaining members of society from being wiped out completely, and the pressure was certainly high.
You were about to set off, Sangyeon threw you a helmet, the piece of technology folding out as you brought it over your head. As you got on the back of his motorcycle, Younghoon stepped out and wished you well on the mission - being one of the most risky ones yet.
“Sangyeon I’m scared, I can’t lie.” You wrapped your arms around his torso cautiously, the anxiety soon to get the better of you.
“That’s not like you, y/n. I’m right beside you the entire time. We’ll do this and the world will return to normal. It’s delta for now too, you got that?” He chuckled, trying to make light of the situation. Tightening your grip around his waist before setting off into the night.
♫ STANDING NEXT TO YOU - JUNGKOOK PLAYING QUIETLY IN THE BACKGROUND ♫
The wind breezed past you both, the city lit up with dimly lit neon lights as you surpassed the highway to your destination. It was a skyscraper, surely more than 70 stories high, virtually not lit at all, disguised as a hotel but secretly a government base located on the higher floors.
“The floor we’re looking for is 62, it’s not accessible via the elevator and it would be too suspicious to enter through the main doors of the stairwell. So we will have to enter through the vent system located on floor 63 and go below.” Sangyeon’s stern briefing made you even more nervous than before, as you entered the elevator checking in your reservation to not make a scene on the lobby surveillance - disguising yourselves as a couple, checking into their hotel room for the night.
“Enjoy your stay.” The lady behind the counter wasn’t a real lady, but a piece of uncanny valley ai specialized to organize reservations no emotion or feeling behind it, however if you didn’t complete this mission, that would soon change.
Floor 63 had plenty of surveillance and if you were going to cut it, you had to be quick to destroy access to the programming and leave. There were currently no workers on the lower floors to your knowledge, however there was ai security designed to kill intruders at any cost.
“We can’t do this in time.” Sangyeon observed, moving one of the ceiling tiles, as you crawled through the ventilation system closely behind him. “There’s too much to do at such a high chance of risk.”
“Then what do we do?” You asked, panicking at his sudden change of mind as you peered down at the security bots pacing the lab floor.
“I’ll take out the bots, you grab the programme key and get into the database to shut everything down. Since you can get past the encryption. Then we set the floor a light.” He simply made a plan B on the spot, which he was known for doing, he did get told off for doing so but he always succeeded.
“I can but it will take a long time. What about the innocent people on the upper floors?” You asked thinking about the hotel guests
“I’ve got time, and there isn’t anyone on the top floors, there’s barely any of us left y/n. They’ve had 3 reservations today all on lower floors, the fire alarms are sure to go off.” He said this quickly, before springing to the floor taking cover from the bullets of the security bots and shooting their equipment out.
You carried out with your side of the mission, connecting yourself to harness and lowering down into the computer side of the base. A man with glasses turned around, working overtime on the sim project eyes wide as you pulled out a weapon and shot him down in his tracks.
You took over the computer as he was still logged in things were made simpler and you began deleting files. The database soon caught on however it was too late. You’d killed all the files containing research on the sim, before grabbing all the cases of sims stored in the cupboards and stuffing them into a duffel bag.
Soon the fire alarm sounded, that was your cue, Sangyeon ran into the room, a grenade in hand that would set off a fire and destroy everything left in the lab. He threw a device through the window that smashed the glass, before grabbing you and throwing the grenade at the nearest wall. A sinking feeling dwelled in your stomach as he fell with you in his arms out of the 62nd story.
Everything felt as if it was in slow motion as, Sangyeon looked at you in awe, activating his feather falling device a few feet early and bringing your face closer to his. He leaned in as you followed his movements, there was a slight scratch on his face where one of the bullets from the security bots had grazed his face. You gently brought your thumb across it as he smiled, the blood wiping away as you brought your lips to his. A spark of magic in such a dark world lit a flame, as you both landed on your feet and pulled away from each others embrace.
You’d saved the world together, you and an agent you’d grown fond over the days of dread. Maybe now, the world would get better, back to how it used to be before. Even if not…
“I’ll always be standing next to you darling.” Sangyeon smiled, pulling into you into his embrace once more before you both disappeared back into the night.
—-🏍️—-

Business or Pleasure? - Part 4
Tumblr media
Pairing: Lee Sangyeon x Female Reader
Genre: CEO AU, Fake Dating AU, Fluff, Angst

Previous Chapter
Sangyeon's POV
Sangyeon walks through the office at a steady pace, well aware of the stares he's getting as he passes. His eyes stay focused on the back wall, where his office - which he can see growing between the cubicles - is located. The stares he gets almost make him itchy, but he refuses to allow that to show on his face until your words come back to him.
Mob boss.
Who on Earth thinks of such ridiculous things? Even worse, Sangyeon finds himself wondering if he should smile at some of them. Would that be weird?
That'd probably be weird. Hell, by the end of the day, they might all think they're getting fired or something.
Sangyeon feels relief when he approaches your empty desk. He's almost to his office, and then he can shield himself from everyone's eyes for the rest of the day.
Something on your desk catches his attention, and he pauses to look at it. A cup holder filled with all types of silly pens sits front and center on your desk. Sangyeon takes a minute to look at all of them, noting the giant smiley face, the multicolored flower, and the... pink-haired troll?
He feels a smile tug at his lips and shakes his head. He's not the least bit surprised you would have a bunch of random pens in a "professional environment". The more he learns your quirks, the more he's coming to expect them.
Opening his office door and immediately closing it behind him, he thinks about how you did the same thing last week and then offered to help him of all things. In the nearly ten years he's had this job, there have been very few others like you, and certainly, no one who was brave enough to outright call him a liar. It's amusing.
You've only been here for a couple of weeks, and already Sangyeon finds himself laughing at the most random and absurd things. He almost wonders if he should be worried...
A vibrating in his pocket tells him someone is calling him. Tossing his briefcase on his desk, he digs his phone out and answers without looking. A terrible mistake.
His mom's voice greets him, and his mind is already racing to come up with an excuse for what he knows she's about to ask.
"My darling boy, I hope you're not busy yet."
"No, mom. I just got to the office. I can talk for a little bit."
"Oh, good! I want to talk to you about your sister's wedding."
Sangyeon shuts his eyes and sinks down into his chair. He hates that he has this inability to lie to her. He should've attempted it anyways. He should've told her someone needed him for something. Maybe he still can...
"Do you have a date yet?"
He sighs. "No, mom. I haven't had time to ask anyone if they're available."
"Sangyeon," his mom whines, and he can almost physically see her pout. "You have to start putting yourself first! You work so much that it's going to be the death of you."
"I know, mom," he relents because he's used to this line of conversation. If he lets her go on any longer, they'll end up at the "I want grandbabies" stage. The thought alone makes Sangyeon want to physically recoil.
"You're so attractive, and you're wasting your youth in that stuffy office," she tuts. "It's a good thing you have a mother like me to help you out."
Sangyeon pauses, not liking the sound of that one bit. "What does that mean?"
"Well, I knew you were going to be too busy to do it yourself, so I found you a date," she nonchalantly says.
Sangyeon's stomach drops, and he suddenly feels lightheaded. "No! I can't."
"What do you mean you can't?"
"I mean," he pauses when his office door opens. You pop in your head, mouthing an apology when you notice he's on the phone, and quietly shut the door. The next words that come out of his mouth are done without thought. "I already have someone that I want to ask."
The silence that reaches his ears has him holding his breath. "Are you lying to your mother right now?"
"No, I'm not. There's someone that I'm planning to ask, but it's still too early."
It takes a moment, but then his mom starts squealing in his ears. He pulls his phone away, wincing at the sound. He tries to make out the words she's saying, and at some point, he's pretty sure he hears the words "My baby has a girlfriend".
"Mom," he tries to get her attention. "Mom!"
"Yes, I'm sorry. I'm just so relieved," she tells him, getting ready to go on the spiel he's heard a hundred times before. "You know how badly I've been hoping you'd find someone. It's been such a long time."
"It hasn't been that long," he mutters.
His mother scoffs. "Yes, it has, honey, and that's okay! You should ask your date soon, though. The wedding is this weekend."
Sangyeon sits up in his seat, eyes shooting over to the calendar. Holy freaking crap. How is the wedding already here?! He hasn't even gotten a gift yet!
"Sangyeon?" He hears his mom calling his name, and he clears his throat.
"I'll make sure to ask her today, mom. I have to go, though. Someone's at my door. I'll see you this weekend. Love you!"
He hangs up the phone and sinks into his seat. He is so screwed. How is he going to get you to come with him? Not only is it such short notice, but it's wildly inappropriate. He's your boss! Also, why did just seeing your face give him the idea to ask you? Where did that thought even come from?
Maybe there's someone else he can ask... He pulls out his phone and starts scrolling through his contacts. His body feels heavier and heavier the further down he scrolls. All of his contacts are business related, except for a few, and those ones he's not willing to ask to be his date this weekend.
Sangyeon stares blankly at the chairs in front of him. The disbelief over his lie truly starting to settle in. He'd never intended to ask you out. Truthfully, the thought never crossed his mind because dating is so far off his radar. Then, his mom said she'd found him a date, and he panicked. When you popped into his office, it was like fate was giving him a way out, and he seized it. Quickly. ... Maybe too quickly.
He starts mentally making a pros and cons list. Pros? You're easy to get along with, you're better than someone he barely knows, and you're... very attractive - though Sangyeon will never admit that out loud. Cons? He's your freaking boss, and it's basically illegal!
Y/N's POV
The phone on your desk rings, and you immediately answer without looking at the screen. When you hear Sangyeon's voice telling you it's okay to come into his office now, you quickly disconnect the call and grab your notebook.
When you enter his office, his face appears even more strained than it did the first time you popped in. He suddenly looks like he wants to sprint out of his office unseen, but he tries to cover it up when he spots you.
"Good morning," he murmurs, and you detect a slight breathiness behind it.
"Morning," you respond as cheerfully as you can. As if your response will determine his mood change. "So, I just thought I'd go over your schedule for -"
"Are you busy this weekend?"
Your entire being freezes as you try to process his question. Mouth still hanging open, you furrow your brows and look around his office dumbfounded. Are you busy this weekend? Why? Does Lee Tech have an event or something? Nothing is immediately coming to mind.
"No?" You let the questioning tone linger in your voice.
He takes a deep breath. "I know this isn't entirely appropriate... but I'm wondering if you'll accompany me to a wedding on Saturday?"
There's a nervous glint in his eyes as he watches your reaction. Surely, you didn't hear him right... There's no possible way that your boss - the CEO of Lee Tech - just asked you to come with him to a WEDDING. The boss that says he doesn't want his employees dating. Your BOSS?
The panic starts to set in. You need to say no. You should say no. Can you say no? There's no way you can go as his date to anything, right? That's just... That's... absurd.
Sangyeon must see the emotions flitting across your face because he quickly attempts to distill your impending freakout. "This will in no way affect your job. I'll even pay you if you want."
He winces as he hears his words, and you pause long enough to consider if he's offering you a job as an escort or something.
"That's not..." he sighs, one of his hands coming up to rub his temple. "My mother is trying to set me up with a blind date for my sister's wedding. In a moment of recklessness, I told her that I already had one. Now, I have to find someone to be my date, and it'll either be you or some stranger off the street."
Some of your panic dissipates. At least there's a reason behind why he's randomly asking you, and it's not that he's into you or anything. Still, you can't help but wonder why you're an option.
"There's no one else you can take?"
He only looks slightly uncomfortable when he responds. "There's no one else that I'm willing to take. No. I suppose if you tell me no, I can make one of those dating profiles, but... that seems more complicated than just asking you."
There's a part of you that's trying to figure out if you should be flattered or insulted by this entire situation. Not that it matters, but still.
"So, I can say no?"
He gives you a serious look. "Your answer will absolutely not affect your work in the slightest. If you say yes, that's great. Nothing will change. If you say no, I'll make one of those dating profiles and hope for the best."
Sangyeon's face, as he thinks about the second option, is comical. He looks like he'd rather have a root canal than get on a dating profile. That, paired with his claim that this changes absolutely nothing, helps relax you the rest of the way. One thing you've learned about him is that he means what he says.
"Okay."
"Okay?" He repeats with wide eyes like he's not sure he heard you properly.
You nod. "I'll be your fake date, but you have to come up with a cover story because I'm not doing that."
"Done. Fine. That's... great." He abruptly stands up from his seat. "Thank you."
Seeing Sangyeon so bent out of shape pleases you for some reason. It makes you feel like you're on the same playing level for once, and a part of you is dying to find out the backstory behind it and why he has an extreme aversion to dating. Hopefully, you'll find out when you get around his family.
----------------------------------
When you get home that night, you very much find yourself needing some bff time to decompress everything that's happened since you started the new job. Thankfully, you had the insight to text Kevin before you left work and asked begged him to come over asap.
What you didn't count on - though you one thousand percent should've - was him absolutely living for all of the mess you're telling him.
"Wait. Wait. Wait." Kevin waves his hand, his wine frighteningly close to spilling on your couch. "Which one did you sleep with?"
You sigh for the tenth time. "That's Sunwoo. Sangyeon is the one that asked me to the wedding."
"And which one is the sexy one?"
You purse your lips, already irritated by your answer. "Both of them."
Kevin lightly touches his face like he's going to cry. "I'm so proud of you. I always knew I raised you to be a hoe."
"Kevin! I am not being a hoe!" You toss our throw pillow at him, no longer caring if he drips some wine onto your plush couch.
"Shh," he holds up his hand. "Let me live in the moment."
You fall back until your head lands on the arm of the couch. Looking up at the ceiling, you contemplate how this is your life right now.
A hand pats your thigh, and you glance down at Kevin, who's giving you a look of fake sympathy. "It'll be okay. The wedding will be over before you know it, and everything will go back to normal."
"Do you really think so?"
He bites his lips and stares at you before it finally comes out. "Girl, you're going to a wedding with your boss! No! It's never going to be simple again."
You whine because you know he's probably right - no matter how much Sangyeon claims otherwise.
"What you need to do is take advantage of the situation."
Furrowing your brows, you ask, "How do I do that?'"
Kevin takes a small sip of his wine before he nonchalantly says, "You need to find out who has the bigger dick."
This time, the wine spilling all over your couch is your fault, but it's worth every single stain.

Need 4 Speed: The Skeleton Crew
Summary: The infamous Hak's Garage, owned by well-respected technical expert Ju Haknyeon and financed by the retired underground drag racer Lee Sangyeon. Hak's Garage is an inconspicuous daytime automotive garage that offers your average vehicle tuning and modification. It's during the nighttime when the place starts to let loose and becomes the go-to spot for anyone and everyone who has an inkling of fascination for cars. Get to know the Skeleton Crew that runs the garage below!
Tags: Underground street racer!AU for The Boyz
Sangyeon. One of the pioneers in the local underground racing community alongside Lee Hyunjae before his decision to retire. Sangyeon was a well-known drag racer in the Circuit in his earlier years and has grown quite the popularity since then. Nowadays, you can find the man at the back-office of Hak’s Garage always in calls over dealerships and possible sponsorships. Sangyeon thought it was time to give back to the community that helped raise him by taking mechanics and drivers who he saw character in under his wing. Underground street racing is illegal after all and when illegal activities are involved, bad people tend to make themselves known.
Jacob. Jacob is a friend of a friend who knows a guy that knows this other guy that works in the Circuit. He got invited once to a Circuit race and was surprised to see a very familiar face amongst the illegal street racers. Kevin Moon — his childhood best friend from all the way back in another life. He didn’t know if he would recognize him but the moment the Chevy Camaro driver saw him amidst the crowd of on-lookers, he immediately called on to him with the biggest welcoming grin. The rest was history and history came in the form of an automotive garage. Jacob would spend his free time with his old friend and his other newly found friends whenever his schedule allowed him to. He never once raced in his life but he does stick around to help in organizing events for the crew.
Younghoon. Younghoon was quite literally all over the place. Between balancing his University life and helping run the garage - amongst other things, it’s a wonder how the boy finds time to actually do everything. He often helps Sangyeon with legal work and when he gets bored he finds himself underneath a car alongside Eric or Haknyeon. Sometimes, he also participates in the friendly competitions held by the garage and whilst he doesn’t have a car of his own, some members of the crew trust him enough to let him use theirs.
Haknyeon. Hak’s Garage was the bread and butter of technical expert Ju Haknyeon. Depending on who’s asking, the garage has grown infamous notoriety as one of the city’s hubs for illegal car meets and races. Though Haknyeon tends to host friendly competitions, every now and then he allows outsiders (both from the crew and the city) to race with all-stakes at hand. People often ask him why they never see him inside a car, it’s more likely you’ll find the Ju Haknyeon underneath one after all. But Haknyeon only shrugs his shoulders, wiping his grease-stained hands on a rug before replying that his driving days are over.

𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫 + 𝐚 / 𝐧 : instead of using y/n i decided to give each oc a name and face claim to make it easier to navigate between each story! the foundation of most of the pairings where they’re both involved in accapella has an enemies to lovers and forbidden love aspect to it due to the rule bellas have to not engage in any sort of romance with the treblemakers, however the amount of this that is prevelant will depend on the characters and how much they actually care about the ‘rules’! also, whilst i’ll give more detailed disclaimers at the beginning of each mini series, i’m just going to establish that there will be sex references throughout this, in true pitch perfect fashion. the whole accapella thing is more of a subplot, it’s a big part of the characters and their personalities but this will also heavily focus on college life as well as romance. i’m aiming for each member to have a 20 part story! i’ll also be aging the members down to college ages!

the treblemakers and bellas have earned the reputation as the montagues and capulets of the a cappella world for as long as anyone can recall. it's safe to assume that the leaders of each group would be in constant conflict, or at least that's what gyulmi believes is the most reasonable course of action. however, sangyeon couldn't care less about conforming to these social norms and opts for a diplomatic approach towards his arch-nemesis. but can he maintain his composure when gyulmi responds to his kindness with nothing but anger?

𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 : opposites attract
all dalny has ever known is romance; however, it has never taken the form of a conventional, long-term, exclusive relationship where the phrase 'i love you' is frequently uttered. in fact, quite the opposite is true. her life revolves around romance, yet she has never experienced love. one might describe dalny as a player, a title she proudly wears, until she started interacting with jacob bae during their tutoring sessions. somewhere along the way, she began to yearn for something more profound than just non-committal kisses from her supposed enemy.

𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 : forbidden love
dasom and younghoon have always been familiar with each other. it isn't surprising, considering dasom had dated his older brother on and off for several long months just a year ago. needless to say, the relationship didn't end well, leading dasom to flee to barden university instead of continuing with the toxic cycle. so, during her fresh new start, the last thing she expected was to encounter younghoon, the younger brother of her haunting ex. however, what surprised her even more was finding comfort within his presence, rather than harboring resentment towards the figure from her past and how she can’t help but attend his performances, unable to stay away, yet troubled by the forbidden nature of their connection.

𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 : friends with benefits to lovers
nari and hyunjae have been entangled in their so-called mutually beneficial arrangement for nearly a year now. it's a classic case, really, a 'friends with benefits' situation where the only rule is to avoid catching feelings. nari sees herself as skilled in detaching herself from her emotions, but that facade becomes harder to maintain when her best friend coerces her into joining what she dubs 'the dumb world of a cappella' as a last-minute recruit for the bellas. suddenly, her carefree nights with hyunjae evolve into passionate escapades, and the forbidden nature of their relationship sparks new emotions. what did she expect? she's sleeping with the enemy, and history shows it never ends well.

𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 : exes to lovers
high school sweethearts – it's nice while it lasts, but that's often the case with most things. you cherish something or someone while you have them, but the moment they slip from your grasp, love can quickly turn to hatred. seulki and juyeon could certainly tell you all about this, provided you can endure hours of angry rants and lovesick glances. in short, seulki hates lee juyeon, and juyeon hates sim seulki. they both vowed never to speak again, but that's practically inviting the impossible when their beloved acappella groups seem to constantly be all up in each others faces, something the two of them seem to excel. it didn't take much for another cliche to emerge, where the lines between love and hate start to blur.

june has always had a keen interest in the world of music, not as the center stage performer, but behind the scenes, making the music that's loved by many. so, when she's offered a position at the campus radio station, she's thrilled to accept. however, there's a catch: Kevin, her older brother Jacob's best friend, also works there. Jacob had specifically cautioned her not to get involved with Kevin due to his familiarity with the clichés. but how can she adhere to her brother's advice when Kevin's presence becomes a constant part of her daily life, making it difficult not to form an attachment to someone she spends hours with every day? now, the second challenge arises: how should she break the news to Jacob about her relationship with his best friend?

𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 : rivals to lovers
chanhee and seolya have been in constant rivalry for as long as anyone can remember, or in other words, back to the very beginning of their first semester when they both achieved identical scores, earning them the joint first-place position in their class – a title neither of them was willing to accept. from that moment on, they became sworn competitors, turning every aspect of their lives into a contest. if seolya enrolled in an extra class, chanhee would eagerly sign up as well, ensuring he arrived five minutes earlier each day. if chanhee joined an a cappella group, seolya would join an acapella group. the concept towards their supposed hatred is simple really, pure competitiveness, a need to always be first. little do they realize that, in their quest for victory, they'll end up placing each other above all else.

oreum and changmin have always been inseparable, a bond as old as their earliest memories. it's as if they're joined at the hip; she faithfully attends all his shows, tirelessly crafting new signs, each attempting to be better than the last to show her support, and he's a constant presence, patiently listening to her excited rants about the latest couple she's helped bring together. you see, oreum has a unique talent for matchmaking, but little did she know, her efforts to find a special someone for changmin would unearth her own hidden emotions. as she embarks on the journey to find love for her best friend, her well-intentioned plan takes an unexpected and bittersweet turn when she realizes her own heart is at stake.

𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 : fake dating
it's quite unfortunate, but following nayoung's breakup with a member of the high notes, she ended up being branded as the "campus' designated acapella groupie," as if that even exists. true to her nature, she decided to counter the groundless rumors created by her spiteful ex, with the assistance of her good friend sunwoo. nayoung was quick to convince to convince him into playing the role of her new boyfriend, although it didn’t take him long to get on board with the idea, much to her disappointment, as she had a whole speech prepared for the occasion. now, all that remains is to witness that smug smile on her ex's face fade away as he witnesses her embracing her newfound title, which seems straightforward enough, were it not for unexpected emotions entering the equation

𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 : he fell first, she fell harder
the bellas and the treblemakers don't mix. sure, feifei has witnessed her fair share of fellow bellas sneak around with treblemakers to the extent that it's now more of a norm than a forbidden union between the two groups. however, feifei remains indifferent. she joined the bellas to sing, not to be part of a cliché romeo and juliet-like love story. so, when eric initiates his pursuit of her, she'll go to great lengths just to make him shut up. eric's advances are relentless, almost bordering on being stalker-like, yet there's a certain sweetness to them, even if she'd never admit it. feifei is stubborn, but can she truly ignore eric's constant declarations of love, even though their interactions are scarce? what can she say? curiosity killed the cat.

Request for Anon (Yandere Android Sunwoo) 4.2k, yandere, androids, abuse, physical abuse, verbal abuse, assault, fighting, prejudice, manipulation, detroit become human au (@starillusion13)
“Are you alright?”
It always pained you to see an android being mistreated in public. The laws that were put in place to give androids freedom and rights didn’t stop people from being rude and aggressive towards them. If anything it seems like it made matters worse. As you were heading home from grocery shopping you saw a handful of people crowding around another. It was hard to tell whether or not someone was an android as they blended in perfectly, but one good hit could disrupt the outer skin and reveal the white plastic underneath, even if only for a moment. Regardless, you couldn’t just walk away from someone in need.
You shoved yourself in between the troublemakers and the person being assaulted. This wasn’t the first time you had been in this situation, so getting a slap across the face was expected. It confirmed to those bastards you were human, and they weren’t gonna hurt you further because of that. Of course they just changed their tactic and started calling you names, and saying you were a pathetic android lover. You didn’t care for any of it, to you androids were living beings just like humans and deserved respect. You ignored the yelling and helped the other get away from the scene and into a more crowded area. Once you were in a better place you checked on them, examining them for any injuries.
“They didn’t hurt you too bad, did they?”
The android didn’t say anything, just stared at you with wide eyes and disbelief. They slowly reached up to touch your cheek, making you wince a bit from the sting.
“Why did you do that? You got hurt…”
“It’s okay, I’m used to it.”
“Used to it? How come?”
“I see your people getting hurt too often and I can’t just ignore it.”
“You’re very kind.”
“Are you alright though, really? I don’t know much about androids but-”
“I’m okay. I can take a hit.”
“You shouldn’t.”
“Neither should you.”
“I suppose so. I didn’t catch your name?”
“Sunwoo. What about you?”
“Y/n.”
“It’s beautiful. I need to repay you for today.”
“No, no, you don’t-”
“I insist.” Without asking Sunwoo took your grocery bags, giving you a smile. “Where are we going?”
“It’s okay you don’t have to do this.”
“I want to, please.”
“Alright. I’m just heading home.”
“Then lead the way.”
Sunwoo walked with you back to your apartment building, making conversation. You talked about your job, which was part time as you were also a student at the nearby university. You were fortunate enough to be on scholarship and had some money from your parents that helped you with the apartment. All the other living costs were on you. As for Sunwoo, he was in and out of work, which you knew was common for many androids. They had to identify themselves in order to work, and people still held onto prejudice.
“Thank you very much. You can set the bags on the kitchen table.”
Sunwoo insisted on helping you to the very end, so you let him into your apartment. He set down your groceries and curiously looked around, saying that your place was cozy. He kept talking with you as you were in your room, unpacking your things.
“Do you live alone?”
“Yeah. This place is really only meant for one, and I’m fortunate that I can afford it.”
“Doesn’t it get lonely?”
“At times, but I’m alright.”
“Can I ask… I know you said something about this earlier…” Sunwoo came over to the room. “But… why do you help out other androids? Most humans hate us…”
“It’s honestly so unfair and stupid. You’ve done nothing wrong.  To me there’s not much of a difference between humans and androids. We all just want to live our lives, don’t we?”
“Yeah. It’s really nice to know that there are some good humans around.”
“Believe me, there are.”
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“Being yourself.”
“Huh? What does that-”
As you turned around you found Sunwoo standing before you, startling you. Although you couldn’t ponder too much as a white hand was reaching for your face, and then your world cut to black.
🖤
You whimpered and rolled over in bed, hearing some faint knocking. You thought maybe you were imagining things, but the knocking persisted. You sighed and got up, stretching your arms and getting out of bed. As you opened the door you were rubbing the sleep from your eyes.
“Morning, Eric…” You smiled. “What are you doing here so early?”
“I was trying to call you. We were supposed to go out for breakfast this morning, remember?”
“Were we?”
“Y/n, is it gonna be breakfast for two?”
You looked back to see Sunwoo peeking out from the kitchen, holding a spatula. He waved at Eric with a smile.
“Hello.”
“Who’s that?” Eric questioned.
“That’s Sunwoo, my roommate.”
“What? Since when do you have a roommate?”
“It’s been a while now.”
“What do you mean? I was here like yesterday, and you’ve told me that you’re alright financially.”
“Oh I don’t help with money.” Sunwoo chimed in, coming over to the door. “I help with apartment maintenance and other stuff to make things easier for y/n.”
“Other…? Wait, are you… an android?”
“Yup.”
“Y/n, what the fuck!?”
“Excuse me?” You questioned. “Eric, you-”
“Why is there an android here?”
Eric made his way inside the apartment, shoving the android away from you. The last thing you wanted was a fight so you quickly got in between them, placing your hands on Eric’s chest and making him step back
“Eric, what is your problem? I didn’t think you had an issue with androids.”
“I don’t.”
“Then why are you acting like this?”
“Can we talk?” Eric glared at the android. “In private.”
“Yeah, yeah, just give me a second.”
Eric stepped out of the apartment and you closed the door, taking a moment to catch your breath. You turned back to Sunwoo, giving him an apologetic smile.
“I’m so sorry about that, I had no idea he would act that way.”
“It’s okay, I’m used to it.”
“Still. I’m gonna talk to him. So I’ll be right back.”
“Do you have to?”
“Hm?”
“If he was like that to me… I don’t want you to be alone with him.”
“Eric is usually a sweet guy. I’ll be fine.”
“You sure?”
“I’ll only be a couple of minutes.”
Sunwoo still didn’t like the idea, but he couldn’t convince you otherwise. You quickly went to change into some more proper clothes and stepped out into the hall to meet Eric. Before you could say anything he grabbed your arm and dragged you down the hall towards the stairwell.
“Eric, stop, you said you wanted to talk.”
“Away from that android.”
“Eric!”
You pulled yourself free and stayed where you were, right in the middle of the stairs. Thankfully it was early in the day, and you probably wouldn’t be disturbing anyone.
“What is going on with you?”
“Why do you have an android living with you?”
“What’s the problem with that? Not to mention the way you treated him was unacceptable.”
“Why do you have an android?”
“Why does it matter?”
“Cause it does! If you needed a roommate I could have moved in.” Eric sighed. “Look, I know you care about androids, but you can’t just have one living with you.”
“Why? Since when are you some sort of expert on human-android relations?”
“I’m not, but you know a lot of people don’t like androids. If you have one close to you like that, they’re gonna get the wrong idea.”
“Like you?”
“Y/n, please.”
“What do you want here?”
“I want that android to leave.”
“You’re being ridiculous. Sunwoo’s not gonna hurt me or anything.”
“Y/n, I don’t like the idea of leaving you alone with an android.”
“I’m fine. Besides, I like the company…”
“Then I’ll move in.”
“You’re a full time student, and moving here would create a long commute. I’m also not accepting roommates.”
“But you’ll take in an android? How did you two even meet?”
“I just ran into him one day and-”
“Don’t lie to me.”
“He was being harassed by some people so I stepped in.”
“Y/n!”
“I’m fine.”
“Bullshit. Are you hurt anywhere?”
“I said I’m fine.”
“This is exactly why I don’t want an android staying with you. You’re too kind, and they’re taking advantage of that.”
“No he’s not. I offered to have him stay with me.”
“Y/n-”
“I don’t want to hear anymore about this.” You stated. “I don’t even wanna see you right now, so just go.”
“But-”
“Think about your attitude today, and let me know when you’re ready to apologize.”
You didn’t let Eric say anything more as you made your way back to your apartment. Eric still couldn’t believe what had happened, but he certainly needed to take a new approach.
“It’s Eric, right?”
As Eric stepped out of the building he heard someone call his name. He turned back to see the android from your apartment leaning against the wall by the entrance.
“What the fuck do you want?”
“I just wanted to tell you not to show up unannounced.”
“And why’s that?” Eric walked up to the android. “You got a problem with me?”
“No. I just want to be able to properly accommodate you when you come by, and I can’t do that if you show up randomly.”
“What are your intentions here?”
“Me?”
“Why did you move in with y/n?”
“Does it bother you?”
“Yes, and I’d prefer it if you moved out.”
“Well I prefer to be in the presence of someone like her. Someone who doesn’t care that my blood is blue. She’s kind, and I want her to be happy.”
“She won’t be as long as you’re around her.”
“We’ll see.”
🖤
When you got back to your apartment you took a breath. That was a very exciting way to wake up. You went over to your room, throwing yourself onto the bed. You closed your eyes for a moment, trying to move past what just happened. A while later you heard a knock on your door. You peeked your eyes open seeing Sunwoo walking in.
“Did you fall back asleep?”
“Hm… I think so…”
“Well, do you want breakfast, or should I save it for later?”
“No, no, no, I’m coming.”
“Alright then, let me help you.”
Sunwoo helped you sit up, smiling at you cutely. He was quite adorable, and you smiled back. Although it faltered a bit as you remembered how Eric treated him.
“Sorry… about my friend…”
“You mean Eric?”
“Yeah… he’s just worried.”
“I understand. It really wasn’t that long ago that my people were on the streets protesting.”
“But that’s in the past, and you aren’t looking for trouble. Humans and androids have coexisted for a long time, and now we’re equals, as it should be. That shouldn’t cause tension between us.”
“You’re really extraordinary.”
“No, I’m just an average girl.”
“A wonderful one.”
You had no trouble getting along with Suwoo, appreciating all the things he did for you. He walked with you to uni, and was there to escort you to your part-time job as well. You rarely walk alone anymore. Besides you there was a lot for Sunwoo to discover. He was in between jobs at the moment, but he was very eager to learn more about the world. He knew many things but there were still a lot of unknowns to him. One of the things he was very interested in was film and TV. The stories that would be told, and the messages to convey. You were more than happy to sit with him and indulge, sharing your favorite shows and movies.
There was so much else you wanted him to see, but there was some difficulty. Many places didn’t like having androids around. Sometimes you could get away with it since you were human and the assumption is that your partner is too. Of course that didn’t always work and you’d get strange looks thrown your way. Sunwoo never let any of that upset him, but he was certainly ready to swing if he thought someone posed a threat to you. That was rarely the case, and either way, you didn’t want him getting into a fight. If he got hurt you’d have to take care of him and you weren’t sure you knew how to help an android.
For the most part things were good between you and Sunwoo, and you grew close. He was an amazing friend and roommate. You felt that you could trust him with a lot of things, and he was always open to help you in any way he could. There was a lot he wanted to learn from you, and so he kept you busy. Because of that you had completely forgotten about Eric’s behavior that day, and the fact you hadn’t heard from him since. It seemed like you may have lost him as a friend, but you were mistaken. As you were heading off campus with Sunwoo someone suddenly came up from behind and shoved him to the ground.
“What the- Eric! What are you doing?”
“Has it touched you?”
“Huh? What?”
“Do you know what type of android that is?”
“Eric, you’re not making any sense.”
You wanted to help Sunwoo to his feet, make sure he was alright, but Eric held you back. He tried to pull you away from the scene but you stayed put.
“Eric!”
“He’s a fucken sex android!”
“What?”
“That’s an HR400 model, a sex android. No wonder it latched onto you.”
“What does that have to do with anything? And what does it matter what type of android he is? You’ve been so fucken hostile since you met him.”
“Androids hate us just as much as we do, so it’s with you for some ulterior motive!”
“Sunwoo is not like that! We met randomly and got along, you think he planned this out?”
“Maybe, and you’re just the one who took the bait.”
“My gosh, Eric, do you even hear yourself? You’re talking crazy.”
“Just listen to me.”
“No, I’ve heard enough of your ramblings. Just stay away from me.”
“Y/n, I-”
Before Eric could say anything more Sunwoo had gotten to his feet and threw a punch. Eric collapsed to the floor, spitting out some blood. Your eyes went wide, looking over to Sunwoo who merely grabbed your arm and started dragging you along. You tried to get yourself free, but his grip was a lot stronger.
“Sunwoo, stop! You can’t just-”
“He was gonna hurt you.”
“That’s not true, now let go!”
“We need to go home.”
“Sunwoo!”
“Ya!”
Eric ran over and tackled Sunwoo to the ground, the two starting to fight. You screamed at them to stop, but neither was listening. They attracted attention, and ultimately some police officers came to break up the fight. Of course the crowd that had gathered was well aware of the blood blue staining Sunwoo’s injuries. The officers asked if either of the two were gonna press charges, and you begged them not to. They ultimately agreed, and as soon as they were released Sunwoo grabbed you and started pulling you along.
“Sunwoo, are you okay?”
“I’m fine.”
“There’s blood… don’t you need to go to a hospital or something?”
“I know where to go in order to repair myself.”
“Good. Let’s go there and talk.”
“No, you need to go home.”
“What?”
“That’s the only place I know you’ll be safe.”
“Safe? Sunwoo, I’m alright there’s-”
“I don’t trust that Eric guy not to hurt you.”
“He didn’t hurt me.”
“And do you think his rambling is gonna stop? I have to protect you from people like him?”
“Like him? What does that mean?”
“Humans who don’t like androids. You shouldn’t associate with them.”
“Sunwoo, he’s not-”
“Look at me.”
Sunwoo stopped and turned around to face you. His sudden actions startled you and you took a step back. Red or blue, you didn’t like seeing blood on his face. Unlike humans, you could see a different type of vulnerability when an android was injured. The places that were injured revealed the white plastic underneath, making it very obvious he was hurt. You gently reached up to touch his cheek, seeing how bits of his outer skin glitched around the wound, especially when you touched it. Sunwoo’s eyes softened, the previous anger subsiding. The last thing he wanted to do was upset you.
“I’m sorry…”
“Eric may get on your nerves, but that’s not a good enough reason to hit him.”
“He was going to hurt you.”
“But you don’t know that, not really.”
“I don’t want you getting hurt.”
“I can take care of myself, you don’t have to protect me. I should be the one protecting you.”
“That’s gonna change. Things are gonna get better, I promise.”
“I’m sure they will.” You smiled. “Let’s go get you fixed up.”
“I can go by myself. I want you at home.”
“Sunwoo-”
“I don’t want you to see me… like that…”
“Okay. I understand.”
You walked with Sunwoo back to the apartment. You insisted on cleaning him up a bit, hoping he wouldn’t draw attention to himself as he would be out alone.
“How long will you be gone?”
“Not long, I promise.”
“Okay.”
“Don’t go anywhere.”
“I’ll stay right here at home.”
“Good. When I get back, there’s somewhere I want to take you.”
“Okay, sounds good.”
You placed a bandaid over the cut on Sunwoo’s cheek and then grabbed the dirty rags to wash them off at the kitchen sink. You heard Sunwoo get up, figuring he’d be heading out now.
“I’ll see you in a bit.”
You felt a presence behind you, and then there were arms around your waist. You yelled, meeting Sunwoo’s smiling face with your surprised one.
“Sunwoo…”
“Thank you.”
He leaned forward to place a kiss on your cheek. You immediately felt your face burning, suddenly embarrassed and shy. His smile didn’t change though.
“I’ll be back soon.”
“Oh… okay…”
“Get some sleep.”
“Huh?”
You felt one of Sunwoo’s hands come up to your neck. A shiver went down your spine, feeling his cold fingers before your world suddenly faded to black.
🖤
Eric was far from happy with how things went down. That fucken android was seriously starting to piss him off. It would have been better if they both had gone to the station, but he didn’t want to upset you further. You were a good person, so he just needed to sit down and talk to you. After what happened you’d be more willing to hear him out anyway. Once the fight was over he noticed Sunwoo drag you away from the crowd, but he couldn’t just follow. He knew where you’d go so he made his way to your apartment.
As he approached the building he stopped and hid out of view. He saw that Sunwoo android leaving, wondering where he was headed too. It probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to follow him, but he would rather talk to you as it seems you’d be alone. Once he was sure the android was gone he made his way inside, going to your apartment. He knocked on the door, waiting for you to answer, but you didn’t. He tried again but there was no response. You might have guessed who was at the door and were avoiding him, but he wasn’t gonna waste this chance. He knew you hid a spare key along the top of the door so he grabbed it and let himself in, calling out to you.
“Y/n… it’s me, Eric. I just wanna talk. I’m really sorry about earlier, I know things got out of hand, so I came to explain myself.”
He got no answer. It was possible you were avoiding him, but the apartment was too quiet for that. It was possible he was wrong and you weren’t here, but he wasn’t so sure you would have gone to your job after what happened. Then again Sunwoo had left the building, so maybe you really weren’t here. That seemed to be the case so he figured he’d leave a note in your room and come by later. Although when he stepped in he saw you were tucked in bed, sleeping.
“Y/n.”
He went over to you and started shaking you, but you didn’t wake. He never knew you to be a deep sleeper.
“Y/n, wake up.”
This was frustrating him so he reached over to gently slap your face, noticing an LED on your head.
“What the…”
Without thinking he reached for it and took it off of you. It was just like the LED androids used to wear, except you weren’t an android. For a moment there was doubt in his mind, but then he reminded himself that he had known you way before androids were even a thing, and he had watched you grow. He was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard you groan, turning over in bed and slowly opening your eyes.
“Eric…? What are you doing here…”
“I wanted to talk.”
“Hm… wait… but how… did you get in…”
“Sorry, I used your spare key.”
“Rude…”
“Look, let’s get out of here and go talk somewhere.”
“Why…”
“Cause I don’t trust this place anymore, or that android.”
“Again with this… just go… you’ve done enough…”
“Y/n, get up.”
Eric grabbed your arm and pulled you to sit up. He was trying to get you out of bed but you sleepily pushed him away.
“Eric, I really can’t with you anymore.”
“Listen to me, I’m right, something is off.”
“Eric-”
“What is this?” He held up the LED. “I couldn’t get you to wake up until I took this off of you.”
“Huh?”
“Tell me what this is.”
“I… I don’t know…”
“Exactly.”
“Eric, that doesn’t mean anything.”
“Then let’s go find out, I know a guy.”
Despite your wishes Eric pulled you out of bed. You stumbled along behind him, heading towards the door. You tried to get him to let go, although you both suddenly came to a stop as the door opened and Sunwoo walked in.
“What’s going on here?” Sunwoo questioned. “Who let you in?”
“We’re gonna talk, so don’t mind us.” Eric stated.
“But I do mind. I’m not gonna leave y/n alone with you.”
“The feeling is mutual.”
“Let her go and get out.”
“This isn’t your place.”
“It is. Now leave.”
“Don’t fight again.” You pleaded. “I don’t want you to hurt each other.”
“I don’t trust him.” Eric said. “Not with you.”
“He’s done nothing wrong.”
“You sure?”
Eric threw the LED at Sunwoo’s feet. Sunwoo looked down at it and then picked it up. His expression gave nothing away, but there was something in his eyes when he looked at Eric.
“I knew you broke in.”
“What is that? Why was-”
“I didn’t want it to come to this, but I don’t mind at all.”
Sunwoo charged at Eric, tackling him to the ground. You moved aside, stumbling in your steps and falling to your hands and knees.
“Stop it!”
Sunwoo threw a few punches, landing right on Eric’s face. Neither was fully recovered from the previous fight. Those few hits really messed up Eric, so Sunwoo got up and came over to you.
“Are you okay?”
“Why are you fighting? There’s no reason-”
“I don’t like him. He’s no friend of ours.”
“Sunwoo.”
“It’s gonna be okay. I’m going to take you to a place where we can live in peace.”
“What?”
“You trust me, don’t you?”
“Sunwoo… I…”
“It’s okay, I’ll take care of everything. I’m gonna take care of you.”
“Sunwoo.”
Eric groaned and got up on his elbows, looking over at you and Sunwoo. His vision was a bit blurry, but he could see as Sunwoo reached over to caress your cheek. Then his hand turned white and reached behind your back. For a moment your eyes went wide before you passed out. Sunwoo caught you and gently laid you down.
“What… what did you do… to her…”
“Just a precaution.” Sunwoo admitted, his fingers gliding over your cheeks. “She may not be like me, but I still have to take care of her.”
“So I was right…”
“Hardly. Good people like her deserve better.”
Sunwoo placed that LED back on your head, pulling out his phone afterwards and making a call. He walked over to Eric and placed his foot on his chest, keeping him pinned.
“Hey, it’s me, change of plans. I need to head out tonight, can you get it ready?”
“The hell…”
“Good, I’ll see you then.” Sunwoo hung up the call and looked down at Eric. “You could be saved. You’re not one of the irredeemable ones. I’ll put in a good word for you, but you have to do the rest.”
Sunwoo went over to pick you up in his arms, smiling as you subconsciously snuggled against him.
“I’ll find you.” Eric spat. “I swear it.”
“You won’t.”
