now how do we think JJ reacts to old black and white movies (like ‘some like it hot’, ‘12 angry men’, ‘it happened one night’, ‘bicycle thieves’ or even like ‘the sound of music’)?

as a film girlie myself i’m wondering if he’s like super confused like “babe what the fuck is happening rn” or if he’s very into it, like finds them comforting “no no babe this is really beautiful stuff”

i honestly think he’d enjoy it, he’d just be reluctant to try it.

i hate kiara, shes pretty but i cannot stand her,she actually is the only one who had a normal family and a good life, she wants to throw it away because she wanted to be a “pouge”. yes her parents were very wrong for sending her away but she needed it. i genuinely cannot stand kiara.

I used to hate her too! 😭 I feel like I still do a little bit but she's tolerable. On my list of favorite to least favorite, she's like dead last. I do feel like she forces the Pogue persona upon herself a little bit.

Someone mentioned that they feel like she only hung out with the pogues in the first place because Sarah dropped her. Also, her kook year is very confusing? She doesn't go to the "Kook Academy", the pogues always call it her "Kook Year" like was she friends with them and then dropped them and then came back? Or was she a Kook First who became a Pogue??

and sometimes she is SO FUCKING AGGRAVATING. Like with the hot tub situation, Pope is telling JJ how he could've used the money for supplies or to pay off his restitution, y'know relevant causes. And here she goes "You could've given to a charity!😡😡" Girl FUCK them kids and FUCK you too (all jokes).

The issue with rafe is that he doesn’t see kiara as a pogue, but not a kook either. He said as much in the back of the truck when they escaped singhs. Shes something different to him. Like no one else. He doesn’t lump her in with the pogues, but doesn’t consider her a kook. But she is a pogue, and that’s what she wants to be seen as. His comment to her in the truck bothered her. The way he views her is honestly dangerous and concerning. Shes not low enough to be scum like the pogues but not at his kook status level either. He likes her but doesn’t. He wants her but doesn’t. He can’t have her, or can he? I cannot imagine the digs rafe would want to throw at her and JJ to rile them up, based on all their history and now that Jiara is together… I just need to see this play out in season 4, and I’m 50/50 on thinking I’ll get at least SOMETHING.

This is a hot take, but I didn't really care for JJ in season 3. He was rude af to Kiara and caused unnecessary drama in her life, especially when it came to her parents. I hated how the fandom thought her chasing him around for the majority of the season was cute because he's the troubled bad boy who needs to be saved. I'm tired of the media conditioning young girls to think this is romantic.

I also didn't like how he treated Pope after him and Kie got caught on the boat. Getting upset with Pope because he wasn't being honest, but JJ wasn't fully honest either. He wasn't being a real friend in this situation. Plus him saying Pope wanting to be a coroner was weird was OOC considering how he acted in the previous seasons when it came to Pope's education.

Season 4 better come correct when it comes to his character because Jayj was not it.

I also think that he doesn’t need to be the troubled bad boy that needs to be saved. He can handle himself on his own without kiara playing savior.

I thought his character was very much like JJ but that’s just me.

Okay so I loved Jancy in season 1&2 but 3&4 has sufficiently made me dislike them.

We’ll start at 3 since that comes first, it feels so different to how Nancy and Johnathans relationship was in season 2, it’s so dull, uneventful (romance wise) and it seems like they don’t understand each other anymore. Nancy’s so headstrong while Johnathan just goes along with it, then gets kind of upset for his own choice about going along with it. And while I know Johnathan has never been the outspoken type, it just gave me an ick to them being together.

Season 4 really cemented how much I don’t like Nancy and Johnathan together, them both being so distant, Johnathan lying, Nancy kind of doing the same by saying things are fine. The whole college thing, Nancy admitting multiple times that Johnathan hasn’t been there, Johnathan basically telling Argyle that he’s going to/needs to break up with Nancy— they’re bones at this point. I can’t see them working through the issues at hand or trying to fix it, they need to breakup and be done.

Okay on to Stancy, oh how I love them so much. They’re both some of my favorite characters so call me biased but I don’t care.

Obviously season 1&2 was spent building up Jancy, which is fine, I like watching it, but the bits and pieces we get of Stancy throughout them is like gold to me.

God that scene where Steve’s like ‘I’m not a good boyfriend but I am a good babysitter’ it just kills me every fucking time. Because yes their relationship was hella bad in season 1 but I think a lot of that lays with the fact that Barb died during their relationship, hell Nancy was in the middle of being with Steve while Barb died, she has to feel extremely guilty over it.

Then watching Steve grow throughout the seasons, him fighting the demadog with Johnathan and Nancy, helping the kids, working with Robin, the whole Russian thing, helping the kids even more and then, finally, him and Nancy being partners up again. It is absolute heaven.

I see a lot of Jancy people criticizing the scene where Steve tells Nancy he wants six kids and to go traveling but I feel like they’re taking it out of context. Nancy was happy with the idea, she smiled and said it was nice aside from the six kids but which was obviously a joke. Steve isn’t demanding or asking Nancy to be in a ‘nuclear family’ like Ted and Karen, he was just sharing his dream, and again she liked it.

Then Steve stopping Nancy in the upside down to say that she was in the dream, I fucking screeched because holy fuck do I love them! Nancy and Steve have both grown as people, both been through some heavy shit and the idea of them being together again with a better understanding of themselves sounds so good.

People say Steve had his chance or whatever, I disagree, Steve’s a different person, he’s changed for the better, he said it himself and I think him and Nancy could totally work out. They’d be adorable, it’d be a full circle moment that I live for.

So in conclusion, Stancy better happen in 5 and Johnathan should just date Argyle.

I agree with all your unpopular obx opinions. Adding one:

Jiara is the worst ship. If you have to completely change a character’s personality, you know the ship is bad. Where is JJ’s loyalty to Pope? In s1 and 2, he does everything for Pope. Even goes to jail for him and suddenly he doesn’t care about Pope’s feelings? He doesn’t care about how Kiara treated Pope? And with his trauma caused by his dad, how can he even trust her after what she did? Like she clearly showed everyone she has no problem playing with people’s feelings… Sorry but he never would trust her not to screw him over or just using him as a rebellious fase against her parents. Or the fact he doesn’t like her privileged life. As seen during multiple situations where he calls her out on it in s1 and 2. I can go on and on but my rant is getting long already 😂

100% agree. The only reason I didn't add it to the list is because I had a whole week long discussion on my blog already about how I actually despise Jiara😭.

But everything you said here is 100% valid. Especially JJ and Pope's relationship. I don't get how people think Jiara started in season one. On Kie's part? Maybe. But JJ was continuously egging on JB and Pope to get with her and he did not care one lick about who Kiara was locking lips or doing the devil's tango with and when s3 comes around suddenly they're in love😬...

Most Jiara shippers excuse this by saying he was hiding his feelings for her but its very clear to see that he genuinely did not care for Kiara in a romantic way whatsoever, he just thought she was attractive.

And SO HEAVY on calling her a kook. I used to think JJ didn't want her to be part of the friend group sometimes😭 He does not let that girl forget that she is indeed a Kook by nature.

It’s the implication of kie telling JJ “don’t ever do that again” after the bike crash. She sees right through him. He made sure she was safe before leading the danger away from all the pogues and sacrificing himself because that’s how he sees it. That’s how he thinks it’s meant to go down. And she’s like, don’t ever think that’s the answer again. Don’t throw yourself away like that after “dropping me off” out of harms way. We’re in this together and you’re not disposable. She was wrecked even thinking for a second that something really bad has happened to him. And he saw it with his own eyes.
