star trek has always handled trauma/mental illness well imo but sisko explaining to the prophets in the first episode that humans live in linear time and can't ever go back... and then the prophets are so confused and show him his wife dying and ask "but you exist here?" that was. that one.... hit
I’ve been so stuck on the fact that Ben and Jennifer met, married, and had Jake within the space of two years. The totally endearing adorability of actual, lasting love at first sight.
I love imagining them in those early years, untouched by tragedy. A playful young ensign romancing the dream girl he met on the beach.
Maybe going home to New Orleans and deciding to slip away and elope on a whim? The whole Sisko family is very annoyed but in the end, can’t deny the couple’s happiness.
Ben spoiling a pregnant Jennifer with food and footrubs and attention between duty shifts. Becoming a dad on Father’s Day (according to beta canon)!
Mirror universe Benjamin Sisko is just unrestrained Sisko.
Our Sisko is still a fuckboy, he's just also a romantic so it balances him.
Meanwhile our universe Jennifer Sisko was the unrestrained Jennifer.
Sisko had no idea what to do with Kasidy at times because his Jennifer was a premium fuckboy. He's coming off of over a decade of corralling a fuckboy of the highest order, he's simply out of his depth.
And so naturally Sisko's first place to turn for advice is his good friends fuckbois 1 and 2 aka Jadzia and Julian
(Jadzia gets to be fuckboy 1 because she's a Dax, so she gets the honor)
